People act like the dragons can't understand human language and completely ignore the time Hookfang got mad at Snotlout for referring to something as exclusively belonging to Snotlout instead of to the both of them.
The mare looked at her partly with its eyes, which were small and evil, but mostly with its yellowing teeth, of which it had an enormous amount. She had the impression that it was thinking about sniggering.
"I'll hold him for you while you mount, sir," she said.
"Thank you. He certainly moves about a bit when I try!"
"I expect he does, sir," said Polly. She knew about difficult horses; this one had all the hallmarks of a right bastard, one of those not cowed at all by the obvious superiority of the human race.
I really enjoyed this episode as it gave Snotlout and Hookfang an extra layer of character development and growth. And it was really lovely to see a further inside look into the Monstrous Nightmares. That was a lovely treat! 🥰
I also loved seeing Snotlout bonding with both of his Nightmares. I could totally see him just hanging out with them or babysitting the babies so that Hookfang and Mrs. Hookfang could "go on a date hunt" or whatever. So precious! 🥰
Anyone else think that Snotlout should just establish a Nightmare Sanctuary. 👀
Though I have to say that I was rather disappointed that we didn't get to see the female Nightmare get named. "Female Hookfang" is rather... I'll just say it, it's LAZY!! Just call her "Dragonfruit" or "Ember" or something. 😩
It's also sad that we don't get to see her or the babies again. I kinda wanted passing scenes or mentions of them and see Snotlout occasionally see them with Hookfang. But I guess I'll have to satisfy that urge with a fanfic or three. 😤
It was also disappointing to not see the baby Nightmares. I'm sure they were adorable! 🥺
As a bonus, here's some Snotlout & Baby Nightmare shots from Gift of the Night Fury!
Thank you for reading and for your support. Any kudos and reposts are welcome! See you in another post!
I finally did something for my dbd ask blogs for the winter event nearing and rewarded myself with drawing Snotlout and Hookfang <3
this was my first time ever drawing Snotlout and my first time drawing a monstrous nightmare in years, I was still a wee little kid when I last drew one lol
so i FINALLY have sufficient evidence to prove that the skull in viggo's tent belongs to a monstrous nightmare and it comes straight from dagur's mouth
HOW that thing even looks like a monstrous nightmare head i could not tell you for the life of me... but it is confirmed to be a monstrous nightmare, so. lets just roll with it ig.
Propaganda (both): Both include The Boy Ever, I know that’s all you care about.
Propaganda option #1: Gustav Larson/Larsen is the central theme, and Fanghook and Snotlout/the Dragon Riders are close contenders for second. Will mostly gloss over Gustav’s first episode in DOB and few appearances in RTTE, with primary focus on the episodes The Flight Stuff and Gone Gustav Gone from both series.
Propaganda option #2: First couple episodes of ROB will be analysed as well as the DOB episode A Tale of Two Dragons, plus an introspection on Spitelout and Snotlout’s relationship as a whole as well as their designs. (This has been marginally mentioned in the tags here.)
totk really is one of those games that make me go "ok thanks for the characters, setting, and general plot, but ill take it from here <3" because the entire historical timeline had so much potential for interesting and nuanced story telling but they just went with the old zelda story formula and YES thats how theyve always done it but botw was such a reset in terms of gameplay that they couldve overhauled how they handle story in totk. but they didnt
