“tired?” you asked quietly, not wanting to disturb the fluff ball that was currently occupying your chest. 

wonwoo weakly nodded his head, his slightly curly hair tickling your neck, as he wrapped one of his arms that was around your waist a bit tighter. the second your boyfriend entered the bedroom in his and mingyu’s apartment, you knew he’d be slightly clingier than usual - wonwoo was always a tad needier when sleepy and tired, something you could never get enough of. 

“want to go to sleep?” you murmured, running your fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck. you could practically feel him melt into your embrace. 

“you can stay up if you want to,” wonwoo said, his voice no louder than a whisper. with a quiet grunt he propped himself on his arm, taking away his body warmth making you shiver, despite wearing one of his fluffy sweatshirts. 

“come here,” you cupped his cheeks, stopping him from getting out of bed. you ran your thumbs over his soft cheeks, smiling at his sleepy expression. he looked like he was about to fall asleep sitting up. “your glasses, baby,” you giggled and pulled his new frames off his nose, setting them on your nightstand. “now we can sleep,” you smiled and leaned in to kiss his nose.

wonwoo returned your kiss with a shy smile, pecking you on the lips, and after saying a quiet "i love you", he took off his shirt and made himself comfortable on the pillows. "c'mere," he spread his arms so that you could lie on top of him for a change. placing your head in your favorite place - right above his heart, you felt your eyelids begin to droop.

“i love your long hair, you know,” you yawned. "we have to get rid of all the scissors."

"mhm, we have to."

the last thing you felt before you fell asleep was wonwoo's hand taking yours and placing it on his chest and a soft "sleep well, baby," whispered into your ear.

There are 810 rules at Heartslabyul, all invented by the Queen of Hearts herself.

(In Japanese 8 can be pronounced “hah” while 10 can be pronounced “toh”, and in katakana hah + toh = ハート, which means “heart”).

The rules we have seen in-game are:

Rule 6- No fighting on campus

Rule 23- One must never bring a cat to a formal affair

Rule 53- When something is stolen from you, you must take it back!

Rule 89- Never eat a tart without the Queen’s permission

Rule 124- When you get soaking wet, you must dry off with a run in the ocean

Rule 153- No black tea at night? (a little vague)

Rule 186- Never eat a hamburger on Tuesday

Rule 228- Flowers in gardens must never be picked on Wednesdays

Rule 339- "The post-meal beverage is to be lemon tea with two sugar cubes"

Rule 412- When you see a pair of moving glasses in the forest, never go back the way you came

Rule 249- Flamingo caretakers are to don pink attire

Rule 256- No drinking honey-sweetened lemonade after 8pm

Rule 271- One must leave the table within fifteen minutes of completing their lunch

Unbirthday parties seem to come packaged with "a big croquet tournament" and special rules of their own:

・Roses must be red (and must be white for a spring concert put on by the garden's flowers)

・Croquet must be played with seven-colored flamingoes and a hedgehog for a ball

・Tablecloths must be white

・There must be a dormouse asleep in the teapot (with jam on-hand to spread on its nose, as necessary)

・Party days mandate formal dress

When you awoke to a cold bed in the middle of the night, you were understandably a little sad and disappointed, wanting nothing more than to cuddle with your husband under the covers and hide from the bitter chill that the autumn evenings left. It was dark out, the moon at its zenith as minutes slowly began to render as “morning” and no longer night, but yet your husband was still not asleep. With a tired grumble you slid out of bed, your soft feet making contact with the hard, wooden floor. Shuffling with quiet, sleepy steps you made your way into Dick’s office. A soft sigh left your lips upon seeing him hunched over more paperwork. Of course. You knew exactly where you’d find him before you’d even arrived.

Tiredly, you approached the ginger man from behind, your arms draping over his shoulders, slowly moving to intertwine your fingers with his. “Come to bed,” you mumbled, reaching down to press a sleepy kiss to his cheek. For extra measure you were sure to add, “Please?”

Your husband hummed, seemingly contemplating what you were asking before sighing and standing up, “Okay.”

His hand was still in your grasp when you began leading him back to your shared bed, the warmth of his palms pressing into your own and your tug gentle. Only when Dick began to change into his army-issued sleepwear did you let go, leaving his side to climb into bed and wait for him there.

It wasn’t long before Dick was sliding into bed next to you, pulling you into his chest and holding you close. A shaky sigh left his parted lips as he whispered a quiet, “I love you,” into the darkness, the words hanging in the silence, dripping with affection and adoration.

In an equally hushed whisper, you answered, “I love you too,”

CAN WE HARNESS THE ENERGY OF A BLACK HOLE??

A remarkable prediction of Einstein's theory of general relativity -- the theory that connects space, time and gravity -- is that rotating black holes have enormous amounts of energy available to be tapped.

For the last 50 years, scientists have tried to come up with methods to unleash this power.

Now, in a U.S. National Science Foundation-funded study published in Physical Review D, physicists Luca Comisso of Columbia University and Felipe Asenjo of the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile have found a new way to extract energy from black holes by breaking and rejoining magnetic field lines near the event horizon, the point at which nothing, not even light, can escape a black hole's gravitational pull.

"Black holes are commonly surrounded by a hot 'soup' of plasma particles that carry a magnetic field," said Comisso. "Our theory shows that when magnetic field lines disconnect and reconnect in just the right way, they can accelerate plasma particles to negative energies, and large amounts of black hole energy can be extracted."

The U.S. National Science Foundation-funded research results could allow astronomers to better estimate the spin of black holes and possibly discover a source of energy for the needs of an advanced civilization, Comisso said.

Comisso and Asenjo built their theory on the premise that reconnecting magnetic fields accelerates plasma particles in two different directions. One plasma flow is pushed against the black hole's spin, while the other is propelled in the spin's direction and can escape the clutches of the black hole. That releases power if the plasma swallowed by the black hole has negative energy.

"It is like a person could lose weight by eating candy with negative calories," said Comisso, who explained that essentially a black hole loses energy by eating negative-energy particles. "This might sound weird," he said, "but it can happen in a region called the ergosphere, where the spacetime continuum rotates so fast that every object spins in the same direction as the black hole."

Inside the ergosphere, magnetic reconnection is so extreme that the plasma particles are accelerated to velocities approaching the speed of light.

While it may sound like the stuff of science fiction, mining energy from black holes could be the answer to our future power needs.

"Thousands or millions of years from now, humanity might be able to survive around a black hole without harnessing energy from stars," Comisso said. "It is essentially a technological problem. If we look at the physics, there is nothing that prevents it."

Added Vyacheslav Lukin, a program director in NSF's Division of Physics, "The ideas and concepts in this work are truly fascinating, as is the potential translation of these studies of black hole astrophysics into the practical realm."

I feel like "stupid" is too mild for how audaciously strange 616 proper can get. Random selection off the top of my head: J. Jonah Jameson's son caught lycanthropy from walking on the moon (ASM #124). Glory Grant had a torrid love affair with a werewolf (different werewolf) that ended tragically when she fatally shot him by accident (she was aiming for Spider-Man; WSM #55). Hammerhead got vaporized in a nuclear detonation, spent a while as a ghost, and then got better (ASM #131 to ASM #157). For a near decade, Miles Warren's "clone" of Gwen Stacy was explained as being some other random woman infected with a virus that made her look exactly like Gwen Stacy and think she was Gwen Stacy and also have Gwen Stacy's fingerprints (SSM Annual #8). Doing cocaine would give Peter Parker seizures, because he was the only person to get dosed with Doc Ock's Poison To Kill All Cocaine Users (in ASM #339). Norman Osborn intentionally infected Otto Octavius' ex-fiance with AIDS (which I was going to blame on the 90s, as per SMUnlimited #3, but actually that decision was made in Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #11, from 2014).

Honestly, I think the stunts modern Spidey pulls (gestures at Superior Spider-Man and sinless Norman) should be regarded with the same amount of shrugging and eyerolling as any of these. I guess it's harder to throw it all away under "oh, well, people were just weird and/or stupid back then" when the writer is active on Twitter. Though I suppose there's still Gerry Conway. Really, Mr. Conway, SSM Annual #8? Seriously?

DCMK Blu-rays

A list of Detective Conan and Magic Kaito content with physical HD releases.

This won't be comprehensive by any means; I'm going to be focusing on Japanese, German, and United States releases because these are the ones that I own and am most familiar with. I believe that many of the films are also available on Blu-ray in several countries, dubbed in several languages, but I don't have much concrete knowledge about that at this moment. Please feel free to add any information!

That said, the main thing to know about Detective Conan Blu-rays is that... they kind of don't really exist. The television series is (mainly, more on this later) released on DVD only in Japan, usually with the equivalent of four episodes per disc, sold at 4,620 yen each. They're grouped in "Parts," with up to 10 Volumes per Part, and the next release, on June 23rd, will be Part 31, Volume 3, containing episodes 1007, 1008, 1010, and 1013.

A handful of episodes are released on Blu-ray via collections in Japan; there are the Treasured Selections and Akai Family TV Selections. But with a series running over 1,000 episodes, it really is just a handful of episodes available in these collections.

Finally, special edition Blu-rays for Movies 17-25 include a second disc containing the movie's tie-in anime episode... but that second disc is likely a DVD, speaking as someone who doesn't own any of these but does own the Japanese special edition Blu-rays for Movies 14 through 16, where the second discs are, indeed, DVDs.

German Blu-rays

Outside of Japan, Germany is currently releasing boxed sets of the Detective Conan series starting from Episode 1. At this time, these are the only physical releases of the remastered footage (which make a big difference), and they include Japanese and German audio (but any German-dubbed songs are omitted). Three boxes are available now, covering Episodes 1 to 96 (or 102 with the international numbering); a fourth box is set to be released on May 19th, covering up until Episode 122 (or 129 with the international numbering).

Do note that these releases edit the name boxes in a way that can't be turned off, however.

Episode One: The Great Detective Turned Small

As far as I'm aware, there are no HD releases anywhere of the OVAs. They're available on DVD in Japan, either separately or via four "Secret File" compilations (though these only cover OVAs 1-9).

There also aren't any HD releases of the Magic/Bonus files, but DVDs are included with the Japanese special edition versions of Movies 12-16. They're also available for individual purchase in Japan as well.

TV Specials 1, 2, and 4 (with 3 being the Lupin special, 5 being The Disappearance of Conan Edogawa, and 6 being Episode One) seem to be DVD only, too. Actually, I'm not sure if TV Special 1,"Time Travel of the Silver Sky," is available on disc at all? But TV Special 2, "Black History," is said to be included with the Japanese special edition DVD of the second live-action drama special, and TV Special 4, "Fugitive: Kogoro Mori," is included on the Part 24, Volume 7 DVD.

TV Special 7, "Love Story at Police Headquarters ~Wedding Eve~," might be included on Blu-ray in Japan with the special edition of Movie 25, but I can't confirm if that disc is a Blu-ray or DVD right now (and the same goes for The Scarlet Alibi, included with the special edition of Movie 24 in Japan).

The eight VHS-only Shogakukan Illustrated Encyclopedia Series tapes are obviously not available in HD, either.

Tl;dr?

So, in short, combining releases and eliminating the not-remastered Treasured Selections, you can find 186 episodes on Blu-ray right now (with more on the way with the fourth Detektiv Conan box). You can also get all of the films and Magic Kaito series, plus a few specials, in HD.

And I think that's all I've got! Feel free to add more information if you know any! I am desperate to physically own more HD DCMK content.

EDIT: I've done some more digging, and from what I can tell, starting with Movie 24, the Japanese special edition Blu-rays for the films changed the bonus second disc from a DVD to a Blu-ray instead. This means that Episode 1,002, "The Beika City Shopping Center Garbage Bin Mystery," included with the special edition of Movie 24, as well as Episode 1,039, "The Flying Jack-o'-lantern," included with the special edition of Movie 25, are available on Blu-ray, too. So, a more accurate number of episodes that have been released on Blu-ray (in HD) at this time is actually 188. Further, this confirms that The Scarlet Alibi and TV Special 7 are also available on Blu-ray in Japan.

Additionally, though I have provided a couple of links throughout this post, the Detective Conan World wiki deserves a bigger shout out than I initially gave; their "Collectibles" page, and particularly their "Japanese Blu-ray" article, were a huge help in compiling the information laid out here. Many, many thanks to the contributors.

And while I'm here, for those interested in English-language releases specifically, Magic's Detective Agency is a fantastically detailed resource for every DVD released by FUNimation (Volumes, Season Sets, and Films). They're not HD releases, true, but at the time, they're the only physical releases of any episodes and the first six films in English.

Finally, I also discovered that a fifth Detektiv Conan box is set to be released on July 21st! This should mean that remastered episodes up until 145 (or 155 with the international numbering) will be available on Blu-ray, and it bodes well for these releases to continue. Hopefully, there will be physical releases of the remastered footage in other countries, too!

Theseus in Crete, Part 2

That same night Theseus did as he was told; but whether he killed the Minotaur with a sword given to him by Ariadne, or with his bare hands, or with his celebrated club, is much disputed. (Theseus in Crete, The Greek Myths by Robert Graves pp 339-342).

Theseus emerged from the labyrinth, covered in the Minotaur’s blood, and Ariadne embraced him passionately before leading him, and the Athenian prisoners who had been freed, to the harbour where they boarded a purloined ship and made their escape. They provisioned on the island of Dia but, that night, while Ariadne slept, Theseus embarked again with the Athenians, leaving the Cretan princess behind. Why Theseus did this is much disputed: some say he had acquired a new mistress; others that the god Dionysus, desiring Ariadne, drove Theseus off; others maintain Theseus wanted to avoid scandal at the Athenian court. Whatever the reason, Theseus’ desertion of the woman who had saved he and his people on Crete, must count as one of the greatest betrayals of all time.

The distraught Ariadne, finding herself alone on Dia, invoked Zeus for vengeance, to which the King of the Gods assented. Eventually Dionysus and his merry train rescued Ariadne and he married her. Graves asserts Ariadne was likely to have been a priestess of the Moon goddess and her marriage to Theseus, representing invading patriarchal Achaeans on Crete, would have made dynastic and religious sense to both parties.

Though, I think I must use Spotify weirdly, as I only had 104 "liked" songs, so that I was gonna be a very narrow shuffle pool.

Riddle Info Compilation part 28: The Rules and Vil

There are 810 rules at Heartslabyul (In Japanese 8 can be pronounced “hah” while 10 can be pronounced “toh”, and in katakana hah + toh = ハート, which means “heart”), and Riddle can recite them all.

He expects even people who are not students at NRC to know “at least a hundred of them. At LEAST.”

Vil tells Riddle that his “glass half-empty approach is basically an advertisement for (his) personal issues”, and we learn Vil may have suspected Riddle’s instability from the start, saying, “That boy is a disaster waiting to happen” in a flashback with a 1st-year Riddle.

In the same flashback we also see Vil giving Riddle advice on wearing high heels and gifting him with a bandaid for a blistered foot.

Riddle says that the very night he received the bandage from Vil he ordered a manual on proper walking technique and he considers it a “win” that he was able to show Vil that he is capable of dancing in heels, as, “one can’t let a poor impression go uncorrected indefinitely.”

Vil responds, “And here I thought you’d mellowed out considerably since those days. I suppose some things never change.”

We learn from Vil that housewardens are permitted to adjust their dorm uniforms as they see fit, and that previous Heartslabyul housewardens would wear sneakers like the rest of the dorm.

Riddle says that it bothers him when people assume he wears heels to make himself look taller, which is not the case: he had his uniform tailored to match that of Heartslabyul’s first housewarden, as he believes that “the head of a dorm honoring the Queen of Hearts should abide by tradition, which includes dressing formally.”

Riddle and Vil also share a conversation about the “unique benefits” offered by heels, such as how it is “pretty gratifying to watch the Heartslabyul students instantly straight up when they hear my footsteps. That kind of clarion clacking only comes with a good pair of heels.”

Hi, i just wanted to say u made me upset this past 2 weeks.

For context, i am a literature major studying in Korea, so when I say i've been invested and reading 2-3 books/week. I MEAN IT. I only started reading fics 2015? When sm^t was still labeled lemon so point is, yes I read a lot a lot (books? about 400, fics? uncountable).

I used to read amazing fics (yoonmin) that has similar writing style as you! (Slow burn, the best kind of tropes)

I highly recommend you checking out:

Nyctophile by yururin

Both are yoonmin (BTS) but i highly suggest at least checking it out as your writing style suits fantasy the best like said authors. Anyways, I eventually dropped the kpop world (due to uni) around 2019-2020? then started stanning NCT, which made me know markhyuck and your fics.

I have to say, You have an amazing writing style and talent. I love the way you write! So refreshing and detailed, things you wont expect. Beautiful is truly an understatement. But due to one and other things (my life falling off, my independence, which took a toll on me and I started to not enjoy my hobbies and instead focused on putting food on the table).

This year as I was doing my internship out of Korea, in 2023, out of the blue I jumped and had the sudden urge to read honeymouthed and wildflowers. All because there was a cafe which had "Honey" & "Elderflowers" written in the number #6 of their menu. I dug up my old google drive and there it was. The book (ur fic) I devastated-ly dropped as I've had to do life— as everyone does. I read it from the beginning. Even if I used to read it 10-20? times from the start as I wait for the updates haha. When I reached the final page I saved it (it was page 339) I went to ur AO3 to find any updates, but it was gone. I searched on twt u posted it but it wasn't there on AO3. It broke my heart for a few weeks (quite frankly). It was like dejavu. the As my favorite author (The yoonmin one) quite literally stopped posting on ao3 which, I was broken as well (update; she still opened a patreon/kofi account in the end! hehe).

When I found out in ko-fi it was still there but it is inaccessible for un-logged in users. I immediately made one and is now pending for the invitation for the ao3 (i lost my old account :'()

nonetheless, I AM OVER THE MOON THAT UR STILL ACTIVE AND AMAZING AND DOING/RESTING WELL!

"Hi," he said quietly and then leaned in to whisper so no one would hear. "You look beautiful."

I was surprised my face burst into flames from the heat that washed over me. I just wore a simple dark red dress I had worn many times; Bucky had even seen it many times, and I hadn't done anything special with my hair either. "Thanks," I mumbled back. "You look good too."

Dinner was just as delicious as it had smelled and dessert too, and once we were all full to bursting, Pepper had Sam help her bring in the crate with the Secret Santa presents. We moved to the couches and chairs around the room, and they handed them out the presents by the printed labels Maria had given us a couple of days ago.

I watched with amusement as Peter's eyes grew to the size of moons at the sight of the huge gift I had gotten for him. And I frowned curiously when Sam handed me the small one with my name on it. It didn't look anything like a calendar, and I couldn't think of anything pumpkin-spiced food item this small and square. I couldn't help but squeeze it carefully a few times and even shook it gently but couldn't figure it out.

We went around the room opening our presents one by one, first Carol, then Pepper, then Bucky – who got a pair of gloves with a small label saying they were made by Melvin Potter, everyone looked impressed. Then it was me.

I unwrapped gently, pulling the festive paper aside and gaped at what was revealed. It was a clear box and on a cushion inside lay a silver necklace with a whale shark pendant, its body curved slightly as if mid-swim.

A few people craned their necks trying to see what it was. I opened the box and held it up for everyone to see. "I had one of these when... But I..." I looked up at Bucky a few seats away. "You?"
