So I'm half convinced that this random guy at the library was on a skype call with mr Mark Lee from NCT (also other people but).

Earlier I was in the adult section shelving part of my cart. This random guy decides to set up shop at one of the tables and starts playing a racing game while on voice call. It's quiet enough that I don't really care so I don't make a fuss over his noise and I'm half paying attention to what he's going on about. I wander closer to his table looking for the spot for the book I have in hand and dead on freeze when I hear a voice that sounds like Mark's. At first I'm like wow weird this person really sounds like Mark and the more I hear him talk I'm sitting there half convinced. I'm over here like no it can't be, it's chuseok and it'll be night time in Korea about now.

EXCEPT I GO TO INSTAGRAM LATER AND REALIZE NO THE DREAMIES ARE IN AMERICA TOURING RIGHT NOW. There was a part where he said that he'd have to go to work in a bit and he'd be back in 3-4 hours which is a wild amount of time for a work shift, but not if you're going to perform at a concert????

Finished Vol 8 a couple of nights ago. Pretty good! Spoilers Ahead! You've been warned! This is going to be an unorganized mess, we're sorry Ok, so. Huh. Some of that I saw coming, Emerald hitting the "Change teams" button for example. Some of the other stuff? Not at all. Oscar getting captured, I knew that Ironwood would go off the deep end but not like that, I got double baited with the red herring red herring that turned out to be my original idea coming true, just not when I thought it was. Speaking of seeing "Themes of death" as a warning before an episode was so jarring LMAO, I was excited but damn. Still dont like the aceops, glad most of them are gone. Glad Mr. Schnee is gone too (but thats mostly because we all have father issues in this head). Winter was good, having the whole like internal conflict of "This is my job but it isnt right" was great (and relatable. Fuck you schnee family stop being so relatable) Neo was great and I love her dearly and would do anything for her, she's SUCH a cunt (/pos). Cinder was pretty good too, the whole like, tricking Ironwood into thinking he was fighting Salem instead of Cinder was great! I hope this entails a return to "Silver Tongue Cinder" like we saw in vol 1-3 where she was there but alot of the chaos caused was because she was pulling strings in the shadows weeks before hand and it all fell into place like dominos. Her lying to Salem is based. "Oh they used the lamp, sorry" Girl. She might've killed you for lying and y'know what? good on ya for lying to Salem of all people LMAO. Emeralds semblance getting better to the point that she even deceived Salem was great too. Penny dying was not expected but was done well. Portal room was pretty, and Im curious as to what the fuck happens now that they all fell into what I think is the void. -the trip goes surprisingly well. No chaos, no fighting, etc. That's mostly thanks to you, Claire and Mao because you're able to equal out the disharmony between some players (cough Isagi and Kaiser cough)

-the day actually only consisted of a bit of sightseeing and walking around the city because the players from Germany didn't get a chance to see Japan, since everyone has to stay in Blue Lock all the time

-you walk past a restaurant with German food and the players from Germany really wanna go there. Cause, you know. They've been only been served Japanese food in Blue Lock

-after a bunch of begging Noa gives in and all of you go in there

-it's just regular Deutsche Pommesbude food, like fries and Bratwurst and stuff

-Kaiser doesn't admit how excited he is to get German food again, but you know on the inside he's cheering like a little kid when their mom makes their favourite food, so you tease him a bit about it

-Kaiser actually orders multiple things but only eats like half of them and Ness has to eat the leftovers

-Gagamaru eats so fucking much and he would probably eat even more if you wouldn't have stopped him

-Birkenstock consumed 3 Currywurst with fries in 10 minutes (A/N: I have a weird emotional attachment to Birkenstock soo.... I had to add him)

-at first, Raichi complained about the food, before he even tried it. Claire started an argument with him and somehow got him to shut up and just try the food. He also ended up liking it but didn't admit it (he doesn't want Claire to win the argument)

-you share food with Kurona because he's not really hungry but still wants to try something

-Yukimiya gets interested in the food, so he asks a bunch of questions to Claire and Mao (if you're German, he will ask you as well.) He also wants to know about other German food! That starts the idea of asking Ego to provide some more food variety in Blue Lock

-Kunigami really hates being there and wishes he would have stayed in Blue Lock. He doesn't even eat anything. You try to get him to join in on the conversations but he ignores you every time

-you keep offering him some fries and he ends up accepting those (without saying a word, tho)

-Isagi is a bit weirded out by the food so he sticks to eating fries

-then Kaiser starts an argument with Isagi about him "disrespecting" German food and usually you would stop their arguments, but this one is way too funny so you let them argue for a bit

-the bread vs rice debate (like in that one Blue Lock Additional Time) starts between the entire team, and then they ask you, Claire and Mao for your opinions but you guys refuse to answer. But Mao is starting to have an internal crisis because as a half German she loves bread but as a half Thai she loves rice and you just see her spiraling into an identity crisis for 10 seconds. Then she snaps out of it because Claire makes a joke about putting rice on bread and force-feeding it to Igaguri

-Igaguri is NOT amused by that joke

-the day is actually some of the most lighthearted time you ever got with the entire team. Mostly because everyone forgets about soccer and being competitive for a bit

EXCUSE ME WHILE I RANT FOR A BIT

So anyway I finally started with the graduation project and, lemme tell ya, it was annoying. I mean I expected this, but it's still annoying.

The school and the mentor wants things to be of a certain aesthetic and standard so it can fit with the general public's taste and eventually it can be picked up by a publisher. it has to be commercial and easy to digest, for a lack of better words. Which is like, the opposite of essentially what i am as a person and as an artist.

So anyway I'll be doing Truyện Kiều again, illustrating the full book with better art this time. Here are some sketches I did:

Which is. Ok cool, it's very traditional, Vietnamese fine art design and aesthetic. The thing that you see everywhere in books and media. The thing that is taught in fine art school. And it's also very HIM because he's a very prominent artist since a long time ago. I'm not talking about the difference in the era clothing tho because he demoed in Nguyễn dynasty while mine is of the Trần dynasty.

My style was criticized (politely) that the face doesn't look pretty, the nose is too prominent and big, the lineart is too scratchy and loose, and that I have to restrict the freedom in my lineart more.

Which is. Like. Pretty much all the things that i like about my art the most. I don't really like drawing "pretty" people, I wanna draw distinct and unique people. I like the fact that the nose is prominent because that's a very Vietnamese facial feature. Our nose is big, flat and flared. And I like it. AND I DIDNT EVEN DRAW IT THAT BIG. it's already stylized and stuff. The lineart is scratchy and spontaneous because that's how my ADHD brain works! And I like the freedom, the raw unfinished feel to it. And my way of scrawing is kinda similar to sculpting in a way that I like to put in a block of line or shape (yang) and then erase it and putting in more nothing space (yin). And I like Maximalism and Kitsch and Neo-traditionalism so I love to do things a bit crazy and new and filled with emotions.

My mentor comes from a very different generation, and a different field than me. He's very commercial, leaning more into minimalism, fine-art conservative and traditional aesthetic. WHICH IS THE OPPOSITE OF ME. Sadly we don't get to choose mentor cos there's only one lmao.

And also I don't understand why I have to aim for publishing in Vietnam too, because that's not where my target customer is. I'm a niche artist with limited customer base and they are international clients (who mostly pay better, treat you better, and appreciate your art more than the general public in VN do). Luckily I have a bachelor in business admin so I know how to do brand and marketing myself, othewise id just keep on trying to please everyone (flexing a little bit, but i was graduating with excellence and on the top 10 of my intake lmeo). Not to mention the fact that why do I even have to publish in the first place, because this is a school, it is a place to experiment, make mistakes, and learn. It's not a place to conform to the industry to make a living. If I wanna do that I would not be here and start working for a company already!

I understand it when they said that it would be a huge advantage if you can get published, but then again, that route is not for everyone, and it's not the only way to be an illustrator like they said. I have my own path to walk on, and I don't think they are aware that we even have those paths, because they are from a different generation. I mean, that's why I was struggling so much before to find a footing, because virtually no one here knows there are other paths! I had to dig things up myself through sweat, blood and tear.

Anyway I rant but i will keep trying to fight and do it on my own terms. They can't make me anyway. There's gonna be sticks and stones, but I mean, I can't physically make myself do something I do not wanna do. There's another option which is to drop it because I don't need the certificate anyway, but I wanna finish a big project of my own too.

the world Known Now as the Elysium’verse began with me messing around one million years ago specifically Maci, Seph, and Meli - then Fenixe and I met, Tory got involved, and SPIRAL. but Hypnos was actually floating around in that weird pre-Elysium era to then transition into a cameo character in the early days! (Actually Fenixe and I used to pass him back and forth before I retained custody fgkfkf). However… Hypnos was made AFTER Thanatos. oops! they were a set pair from the get-go but Hypnos came about cause like, well I couldn’t have one without the other—

so yes, his entiiiire design was born solely from selecting opposite details from his twin brother - the opposite color scheme, softe hair, angel wings. everything about Hypnos - tragically terribly - has revolved around thanatos forever….. even his character design rippp

14- If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

I love this question bc as we know the Elysium’verse is RP based and so this is like my constant notes to self while cycling through characters esp when a pile of ALL MINE end up talking to each other. Hypnos, despite his important history with Maci, IS in canon mostly appearing still as side cameo character or often used for brief plot Purposes (can zap anyone to sleep)/ for comic relief (can barely get through a sentence without falling asleep). yet in the back of MY head his two defining core features anytime I’m writing him is:

number one! that Hypnos has spent more time than literally anyone else with Thanatos breathing down his neck. for thousands and thousands of years. since BIRTH. they’re TWINS. even after Than was “stopped” in the Maci Days - he just receded to Hypnos’s side like up until Thanatos was arrested WHEN NEO WAS BORN A MERE SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO, Thanatos was harassing Hypnos! Luckily for him, Hypnos is married to the goddess of anti-anxiety and like. has coped healthily with her help and guidance all things considered but it’s his defining trait for sure. Hypnos is skittish and meek and prone to cowering - this was the way to Survive his brother and because of this it’s his defining and core personality trait. (how is he more functional than Maci is literaly tho lmao)

number two, though- is that Hypnos is NICE. He’s very deliberately purposely nice, again because he grew up with Thanatos, usually literaly at his side while Thanatos bullied his way through the underworld for years and years. And there went Hypnos slinking behind him apologizing quietly and trying to pick up any pieces he could (while being too afraid to confront him - but if he could make up for Than’s intense cruelty and general… asshole personally by counteracting with niceness then!! maybe that helps!!) hypnos’s single act of wrath was secretly cursing Chal with eternal insomnia out of sheer desperation (thanatos kept hurting icy what was he supposed to do!!) and even before he knew Chal was able to be redeemed he felt guilty about it every day. But Hypnos is an opposite balance to Thanatos AND to Maci, his best friend! he’s a foil! HES A FOIL!! Calm and nice with the respective most explosive and the meanest gods spending the most time at his side dfkfkfkf

Hypnos’ “newest” developments came during the dionysus adventures last year since deciding that Di was Pasi’s father meant, retroactively, that Hypnos and him surely had to have to interacted. WE ALLLL SAW THAT COMIC

So this led to the revelation that Hypnos is absolutely AND TO THIS DAY completely terrified of his father in law. Does Di realize this!! I think it’s actually infinitely funnier if he has no idea but realistically he probably knows - everyone SHOULD be afraid of him, of course, cheers ;) ok no but really Di reminds him of a more unhinged thanatos which. is. aahhhhh. (My Captain 3 is named Osprey, Ozzy for short. She's Australian, Aboriginal most likely. Not the brooding type of Captain, but still a massive dweeb. Talks like an anime protag, conductor of the chronic pain train, kinda chipper and more of a mentor to agents like Neo 3 and 4. Likely to kick your beak in if you're being a jerk tho so they're not a pushover. She/they pronouns! About 22/23 still deciding here. Probably Pan, probably Poly, doesnt care about gender. VERY stupid about self care and pushes themself too hard a LOT. Captain of both the NSS but also the squid sisters fanclub. Probably was in a lil fling with each Squid Sister separately at different points. Both ended on good terms!)

(Agent 4 is Polaris, or as Marie calls them "Lari", which makes them f u m e. They also get called Bi-Polar for being an easily ticked off bisexual who can't stick to a gender identity. ADHD/Autism swag is off the charts too. Like this is my lil skrungle who punches people during Turf. Probably has rabies? Ate a raw bird once for 3k G. Has trouble applying themself to anything other than Agent Work, which they love. 20, they/them is their usual pronouns but they'll switch em around with she or he or sometimes it pronouns. Sure! (Tw for bullying tho)

Her and brother Neo are both from inkopolis but more on the outside than directly from the city (could just take a 30 minutes train ride from their house or so) But the two of them moved away from their parents home to live together at inkopolis itself for a while (not like their parents were at home at all they have always been busy working). Now she lives at splatsville since she is studying at university there, Minni is her roommate and friend!

She got her humanoid form before other kids (similarly to Callie and Marie) specifically at age 12. She also always have had difficulty speaking to people of her age mostly because people tell her she is 'too much' (she is autistic and when she gets overly excited she happy stims and talk loudly) Sherbet was literally the first person her age who wanted to be her friend (even when they met online) and gave her the comfort she needed after being severely bullied (as in actually death threats or getting physically harmed like being pushed to almost fall of the stairs, them throwing a bucket of ink on her or putting rotten stuff on her locker or slashing her bag and ruining her notes or even stealing her stuff) for years at school (she never told her parents bcs she didn't want to trouble them since she always sees them busy. Neo did know and would go pick her up from school as much as he could and even protect her from bullies by standing between them and apricot and calling them out or try talk with her teachers and call them a group of useless pieces of shit lmao)

Just recently she been able to get comfortable with herself and be the ray of sunshine she really is. She used to be a bit timid and anxious since the was bullied but thanks to people like Marie, Minty, Sherbet, etc. She been able to open up for real (she still bottles up her negative emotions a lot)

She got recruited by Marie when she was 13 after she got out of school because she wanted to distract herself from school by doing some turf war but ended up following Marie down to octo canyon after noticing her. Marie cares for her plenty and was there to guide her not only in octo canyon but in her regular life as well

She is very smart when it comes to school and learning new stuff (she fully learned Octarian in a few months), talented and also strong (gold dynamo roller main). She is also very clean and makes sure everything in her room is spotless, and she also likes candles and just stuff with pleasant smells. She hates carbonated drinks and prefer natural juices and non alcoholic drinks

The way she met Sherbet was by playing tableturf online and she defeated him and he wrote an insult in the chat in octarian but she knows what he meant and called him rude and somehow ended up starting to talk together and becoming friends. Just recently they been 'dating' (after she moved to splatsville) but they really don't like calling it dating and just use the term 'my partner'

Sherbet is very important to her because she can actually talk about her issues with him and he will listen and hel, but other people like Minty and Marzi who lived with her and Neo for a few years were crucial in her life when she really needed comfort after school (Minty is literally like found family to her in a way and Marzi is her brothers girlfriend and they are very very close) but with sherbet somehow things are different and she can actually show her 'ugly' side without fearing rejection or such. Sometimes she can't believe he used to be a delinquent because she just sees him as a softie who tries to act tough.

Neo and her usually argue and act like they hate eachother but she misses when they used to be little and play together and Neo is actually always worried about her and feels sorry for being so busy with university and captain stuff and work that he can't really spend much time with her. His way to show love to Apricot is by buying her little gifts or stuff she needs. Like she would get back from school and there would be a box of sweets on the counter or a little gift with a note attached to it and it always ending with "stop being loud and lame" but in reality she knows he means 'sorry for not being around' when he acts like that with her.

Neo got mad at Marie for recruiting her when she was only 13 because she was too young but she insist that she stays as agent 4 because she defeated Octavio anyway while he was out (he also lost an eye when he got back after Octo expansion so like she was worried for him and all he does is just yell at her and the squid sisters because HE is worried for her lol)

Oh yeah she has an habit of taking Sherbet's shirts and not returning them (like cat hoarding socks but it's small girlfriend)
