This has been on my to-do list for ages and it’s taken even longer to make. I’m so happy with how it turned out! Which is your favourite colour on our Pedro boys? Any look you would've put in the matrix instead?

Red

Javier, Bro Pedro, Mr. Ben, Javi G, Mario

Three of the red looks came from SNL, and I'm not complaining. I am especially feral for Mr. Ben's red sweater look, he looks broad AF in it. Javier of course rocks several red shirts in the series, but this one with the arms crossed is iconic.

Yellow

Oberyn, Javi G, Javier, Frankie

Personally, yellow is probably my favourite colour on P. He just carries it so gorgeously - the marigold yellow on Javi G and Oberyn's sun robes are literally the golden standard.

Green

Javier, Dieter, Dave, Joel

We need more green in P's wardrobe! His emerald green velvet suit on Jimmy Fallon took my breath away, and I lament the fact that we don't see this colour often enough on him. I hope Joel's green plaid shirt is just the beginning.

Blue

Javi G, Jack, Dave, Mr. Ben, Marcus Moreno

Wardrobe loves putting this man in a blue office shirt. For something different, I adore Javi G's pale blue suit, and of course - Jack's iconic snowsuit.

Pink and purple

Meemaw, Javier, Frankie, Dieter

We 👏🏼 need 👏🏼 more of these two colours on P! While he’s worn quite a lot of pink IRL, his characters are a bit behind the curve. This man owns these colours, fingers crossed we’ll be blessed with more pinks and purples soon!

White

Charlie, Max Lord, Javier, Marcus Pike

I was a bit annoyed to find out that we didn't actually get a frontal shot of P in the white t-shirt in the Sia music video, so had to improvise with a two Javier looks (yet again). I do love this man in a white shirt without a tie almost as much as in a simple white t-shirt. And also hospital scrubs.

Gray

I know, I know, Din's beskar is silver but it had to go somewhere. I do love this man in a gray round neck t-shirt, we get him in three!

Black

Ngl, Dave's assassin look sends me... this man looks so sleek in black. As bizarre as Nico is, the black turtleneck is such a classic and he looks so good in it!

P.S. We need more purple on P! There was unfortunately not enough material for one row and my OCD didn’t let me put in an incomplete row 🤷🏻‍♀️ Shoutout to Javier's violet shirt and Dieter's washed out purple tshirt!

#4: Marlowe (1969)

This movie is fantastic, I loved every second of it! Yes, it's very clearly a proto-Rockford Files but every single second was fun so dammit, it nearly cracks the top 3 Marlowe movies.

It’s a solid adaptation of The Little Sister, especially given it obviously didn’t have Chandler’s involvement and they modernized the story to a contemporary LA. Even being brought 20 years into the future, the story held up and was treated with respect.

James Garner, who I have always loved, played a pretty great Marlowe. He was a good investigator, appropriately antagonistic with the police, and really seemed to just want to help people. If I have one complaint it’s that he had a little too much bravado, but hey, that’s just James Garner. I loved the little detail of him smoking a pipe like Marlowe did in the books, this is the only adaptation that does that.

But the best thing this movie has going for it is the supporting cast. Not only is Bruce Lee in it in one of his earliest American film roles (is his character in the book? No. do I care? Also no.) in one of the best small roles in the movie, William Daniels (hey, Mr. Feeny!) appears in a couple of short but very strong scenes. And really stealing the show is Rita Moreno! Her chemistry with Garner is off the charts and she does a literal strip tease that will melt your socks off.

Overall movie score: 4/5, mostly for the supporting cast

Marlowe score: 3.5/5, Garner did a really good job as Marlowe but he had just a little too much bravado, what are you gonna do?

Perry Mason score: 4.5/5 for having 3 actors (Jackie Coogan, H.M. Wynant, and Kenneth Tobey) who appeared in a whopping 9 combined episodes

Hi! i want to ask how you got the idea to write SWY and TRP story and chose them (among Pedro’s character) as your main characters? 🫶🏻

Hi love! Thanks for the ask 😘 The short answer for why Din or Tim is that I'm personally very weak for gruff, competent men who are secret softies and caretakers. 🤭😍 Longer ramblings under the cut 🫡

Safest with You was the first story I ever wrote (down) and it probably always had to be Din because I'm the most familiar with him? I've watched (and thought about) The Mandalorian more than I have any of Pedro's other shows/films (the second is Narcos).

The concept of a (retired) mob enforcer who loves his girl enough to leave her came to me when I was driving in the car and listening to "People" by Libianca, and I just couldn't get the image of two people in love who are apart and miserable, out of my head; she's safe, but at what cost? Yup, you heard it here first: even though we are just now getting to the angst in Ch. 19/20/21, this angst spawned the whole series 😂 My brain is weird! To this day, when I listen to that song, I think of Din and Pretty Bird and I probably always will.

As for The Rockford Portfolio, this one started (and continues) very differently! None of us know Tim that well because there's only been 48 seconds of him in canon 🤭 and this makes it super fun to write him because we can make a lot of things up - hopefully I've been able to paint an attractive and consistent picture of this man!

The stories for them come from everywhere! The first one was written for a Tumblr writing challenge where I had to brainstorm an ocean themed location/plot first, and once I decided on the aquarium location I picked a Pboi after (it was *almost* an aquarium date with Marcus Moreno, or an aquarium field trip chaperoned by Mr. Ben!🤷🏻‍♀️).

Some inspo comes from fun Tiktok trends and sometimes stories are inspired by posts and fics from talented writers here! Tim and Shutterbug's stories just come when they come; I don't have an overall plot for them (for now anyways) and that actually makes writing TPR and SwY at the same time very beneficial. SwY is fully outlined until the end (including epilogue), so when I write it, there’s pressure to make sure I hit certain plot points or convey certain points of view. I can get stuck sometimes. It's nice to a have a series that doesn't have a lot of structure to it, so there's no pressure but I can continue writing in order to keep the creative juices flowing 😊
