Those with nothing to hide have nothing to fear - so why are we all afraid?

Just beyond the borders of Gumbia rests the twin regions of Cane and Maple. The latter is named for the rocky mountainous wild-woods of maple root that house the Malic-Morass; the former is for the labyrinthine Underdark of the Candy Cane mining ports that carve the mountain out from below.

Port Bon-bon of the infamous massacre, The Bon-Bomb Banquet, is part of this region, but its ill-fitting crown is Salzlakritz. It is by far the rowdiest of its kind - a lawless sort of place where state-power battles with resident authority to create a haven of misadventure. But it is prosperous and a master of the trade. 

For that reason, their Noble house of the same name is often forgotten. A licorice family of nobodies who fail to control their populace but are always sending their taxes on time. Irrelevant to all but the economy.

Until Adalwolf, that is. Adalwolf was smart and strategic. Adalwolf was raised by a guiding hand towards the purest form of currency; secrets. 

He, like Lady Hazel, waltzed into Castle Candy at it’s hour of need with a charming air and wolfish grin. It didn’t take long for him to snake his way into the court, hypnotic in his ability to lull the deepest secrets from everyone, no matter the stature.

The greatest secret he discovered, however, was the love inspired by Queen Rain-Beau. He fell for her, hard - and their secret flourished inside the castle. A love to be shared in their home but traitorous should anyone outside the castle walls discover it.

It is the nature of mortals to lie and shield their truths, for the sake of self protection. But as the Spymaster of Candia, Adalwolf knows more than most how some are kept for the protection of others.

When all the secrets erupts from within him like a tempest, what destruction will be left in the Wolf’s wake?

I started reading Whisper Me a Love Song last year and it's been neat! I picked a pretty good time to jump in given that the anime has finally started after a little delay, and the main Shiho arc of the manga has concluded. To celebrate all that here's a little relationship chart I made for the series.

Technically Aki and Shiho's relationship needs updating but this is a pretty good overview of the main vibe the manga has had for a while

Between Minthara’s teasing and her deadpan humor and Karlach’s sense of adventure and fun, nothing can go wrong. Tav/Durge and the rest of the camp are in for a good time.

not to be dramatic but i have been nonstop thinking about this part of the moralist ending for 2 weeks now. what does it mean.....what does it all mean

I keep thinking that King Laios is gonna have a real hard time, politically, with dwarves post canon. I think it's established that dwarves have the most beef with elves (though this might also apply to gnomes to a lesser extent, given Tansu's opinions) and I'm sure they would have their hackles raised over the continent chocked full of concentrated mana that suddenly appeared from the depths due to ancient magic right after the Canaries went in and fucked around.

Worse, the king's court magician is a half elf, and his royal advisor, once they get intel on him, will turn out to be some tallman elf pet straight from the elven capital. And their court was established with a live-in elven ambassador (Pattadol) from day one. Just like in the canon timeline, a bunch of completely innocent circumstances have converged to paint a horribly suspicious picture. The Golden Country folks are gonna have a hell of a time convincing the world that they're not an elven puppet-state. This is designed to give Kabru a chronic migraine.

You know, I was kinda robbed of a Halsin and Minthara surface enemies to tentative alliance under the player character arc, and that the two of them will likely never see fully eye to eye on anything, and primarily seem like complete opposites of one another, but fundamentally they are both born of tragedy and shaped by a robbery of agency and loss, and their similarities ghost begrudgingly in and out even as their differences scream the loudest - Son of the Sun and Daughter of Darkness and all that.

And they both think Baldur's Gate is the pits so they could have just been mad about that together.

okay so what's this about sally/poppy propaganda

(context - the sally section in particular.)

i'm gonna be real a lot of the "propaganda" is just me making "why are you as a woman doing (x)" jokes and i'm not approaching it from the perspective of "this is definitely 100% going to be canon" so much as "oh my god could you Imagine" but oh, i do not say that without reason, dear anon.

like at first it was just "oh, huh, the intro to sally's bio seems to be referencing poppy for some reason, i wonder what that could mean." and then there was that pokemon au post where clown's like "yeah sally is poppy's manager and calls poppy her muse and trained her team to be bodyguards for poppy and poppy's not really about the supermodel life but she stays bc she loves sally and doesn't wanna ruin her dream" and i was like ... uh huh. and then there was the audition script that has a scene that Also involves sally thinking the world of poppy and wanting to bring out whatever potential she sees in her and poppy being like, only Very Cautiously on board with it (all in a playful context, but still) and i was like ... Uh Huh. and then i reread "at the occasional expense of her more cautious neighbors" and started gnashing my teeth like a wild animal because oh my god the drama. what if it's not that sally doesn't care about poppy or her wellbeing but that she cares too much about poppy to let her potential and/or beauty go to waste (why do you as a woman care so much about whether or not The World acknowledges the beauty you see in this other woman) and oh how would that play into whatever Darker Overarching Narrative is going on here and what would she do once she realizes she's been going too far and how would poppy even communicate all that to her and and and and-

i've said before that i'm generally not a Shipping Guy - like it is not my primary way of engaging with media - and i know some people don't ship poppy with anyone bc they think of her as the "mom friend," which isn't untrue, but i'm different. I Believe In The Power Of Yuri. and also mil- [i am yanked offstage by a comically large vaudeville hook before i can finish my sentence]

Thinking about how the final trial in Them’s the Breaks Kids is a parallel to Raine and Eda’s relationship in the future except their roles are reversed. In the game, Raine was the isolated wild witch while Eda was in the coven system while in actuality, Eda ended up becoming a wild witch and Raine became head of the bard coven. And how just like Eda went against her team in the game, Raine goes against the system in order to protect Eda and ensure that everyone was being treated justly. And how both times, they ultimately fail because of Terra Snapdragon
