Been seeing a bunch of posts about House, MD, so I’ve been rewatching it. Haven’t seen it since it aired and am having fun with it.
But it bugs me because the theme song is different. It’s not “Teardrop,” it’s a series of soundalikes. Probably because they couldn’t get the rights to the song for streaming. It’s a small thing, but it makes it an ever so slightly different show.
It’s like a mini version of what’s going on the Daria dvd release. It’s still a fantastic show, but the persistent use of MTV’s music library gave it something that’s missing from the released version. It’s just not quite the show I remember.
I dunno.

Has anyone heard of the Universal Music Group (UMG) & TikTok licensing debacle going on?! 😳💔💔💔😔😳😳💔💔😳😳😳😳😳😰😰😰🤯🤯🤯🤯🥴🥴😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 Lots AND LOTS AND LOTS of artists' sounds and songs to be removed from TikTok altogether, if they haven't already been deleted. If you're active on the platform like I am, make sure you save your videos to your phone or computer. (I always save a video to my phone as soon as I post it, with the original sound I chose, so I'm REALLY GLAD I have this digital record of my stuff.) Keep an eye on your TikTok account regardless, no matter what background sounds/ audios you like to use. (I've heard this may include very popular Kpop artists, i.e. Stray Kids, BTS, ATEEZ, Seventeen, Blackpink, to name a few. Also of the likes of Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, etc.) This is just what I've seen & heard on TikTok within the past few minutes this morning (2.1.2024, 7am EST at the time I'm writing this post), plus what I heard last night (1.31.2024).

BandLab Licensing: Monetizing My Music Dream, Fueled by BandLab Inspiration
Tumblr media
Like many of you, music is my escape hatch, my creative playground. BandLab has been my go-to companion on this journey, the spark that ignites ideas and the workbench where they come to life. It's a space where melodies materialize from thin air, where beats pulse with possibilities, and where rough drafts transform into polished gems.
And now, with the launch of BandLab Licensing, the creative canvas just got infinitely bigger. This game-changer is more than just a monetization tool; it's a platform for amplifying our voices, showcasing our art, and reaching audiences we never even dared to dream of.
Imagine your heart-pounding track scoring the climax of a Hollywood blockbuster. Picture your lyrics echoing through the headphones of millions on Spotify. With BandLab Licensing, these scenarios aren't just daydreams – they're tangible possibilities. The platform unlocks doors to lucrative sync licensing across film, TV, games, and advertising, placing your music on center stage and filling your pockets with that sweet, sweet soundtrack success.
But it's not just about the moolah. BandLab Licensing also throws open the gates to exclusive, rights-cleared streaming licenses. Think your latest banger pumping up a Netflix original or electrifying a Spotify playlist? Now, those possibilities dance within reach.
And let's not forget the reach you'll gain. BandLab boasts connections with leading platforms and popular shows, offering an unprecedented level of exposure that could skyrocket your fan base and cement your place in the musical landscape. Plus, it builds upon the legacy of ReverbNation's renowned Sync Licensing program, a powerhouse known for securing placements with industry giants and critically acclaimed shows.
As a fellow BandLaber, I can't help but feel the shared buzz around this launch. It's more than just a feature; it's a statement of empowerment, a declaration that our music matters, and that our voices deserve to be heard. In the words of BandLab CEO Meng Ru Kuok, "This isn't just about making money, it's about democratizing music creation and giving creators a voice on a global stage."
BandLab has always been my creative haven, a platform where ideas blossom and passion explodes. Now, with BandLab Licensing, it's also become a springboard to the big leagues. Who knows, maybe the next chart-topping hit will be born right here, a testament to the magic that brews within these virtual walls.
So, don't just let your music simmer on your hard drive. Head over to licensing.bandlab.com and unleash your sonic masterpiece upon the world. Let BandLab Licensing be your launchpad to stardom, because the soundtrack to the world awaits, and your music just might be the perfect score.
This is our time to shine, fellow musicians. Let's make some noise, monetize our magic, and prove that the next musical revolution starts right here, on BandLab.

Understanding YouTube Song Licenses: A Comprehensive Guide
Introduction:
Tumblr media
YouTube’s Content ID System:
YouTube employs a sophisticated system called Content ID to identify and manage copyrighted content on its platform. Content ID scans videos for copyrighted material, including songs, and allows copyright holders to track, monetize, and control the usage of their content.
Public Domain and Royalty-Free Music:
When searching for music to use in your YouTube videos, you may come across public domain or royalty-free music. Public domain music refers to works with expired copyrights or those that were never copyrighted. You can use public domain music without any restrictions. Royalty-free music, on the other hand, requires a one-time license fee, allowing you to use the music without paying additional royalties.
Licensed Music:
Using licensed music on YouTube requires obtaining proper permissions and licenses from the copyright holders. There are different types of licenses available, including synchronization licenses, performance licenses, and master licenses.
Synchronization License: This license allows you to synchronize a song with your video. It is usually obtained from the publisher or the songwriter.
Performance License: If you want to use a copyrighted song in a live performance, such as a cover or a public performance, you need to obtain a performance license from the relevant performing rights organization (PRO) in your country.
Master License: This license grants permission to use a specific recording of a song. It is typically acquired from the record label or the artist.
