Airblast and why High-Tours hate it: an MVM guide about Pyro and airblasting! From someone who has an... unknown tourcount (I only play Bootcamp okay? I have the Silicon Slaughter achievement I promise I'm not a total beginner) I'm way too autism about TF2 and MVM right now that I'm definitely gonna end up making more. Sorrgy (/reference)

Gear's Guide To Engineer in MVM
First question: why should you listen to me? Because I play this gamemode daily, on expert and nightmare modes. i think i can at least give some tips on how to play engineer
also, sorry this took so long, i literally forgot i accidentally posted this privately instead of a draft and i never came back to actually reupload as not a private post LMAO anyway guide below
First things first, UPGRADES!
Start: Sentry
I always upgrade my sentry first, as I don't need to be on field with it as much as it needs to be on field. Often, I can leave my sentry alone for a few minutes while I go either upgrade myself, move buildings, or sometimes chase bomb (it happens, usually when you're moving your sentry and a bot gets past).
This obviously depends on your mission and starting money amount, but you want to try to upgrade your sentry's building health, your ammo capacity, and dispenser range first.
This is just a random mission i clicked on (custom map), and this is what my credits let me get. You always want to max out your dispenser range, as your teammates need it more than you do.
As you get more money (or if you're in nightmare with a bunch of money), you keep maxxing out your building health, get only 1 tick of sentry firing speed, then move onto your metal.
You only get one tick of firing speed, as the lovely shouc has pointed out the other ticks doesn't do anything. This goes for heavy as well. Save your money.
You only really get 2 way if you're in nightmare, as you don't get breaks in between to properly upgrade. The Disposable Sentry isn't needed, you can get it if you have enough money and you don't need any other upgrades. My only exception is in Ghost Town, I always get it before the spies show up to put behind us. It kinda helps. Otherwise, unless you have a fuckton of money and have no other upgrades needed, ignore the disposable sentry.
For example, here's a custom nightmare map. As you see, maxed health, 2 way since it's nightmare, one tick of firing speed, max dispenser range, and some metal. I actually had more money, but I save that for other upgrades. As more money comes in, if im not getting constantly demolished on the field I typically opt for maxing the metal.
CANTEENS:
For Canteens, upgrade buildings are your best friend. I don't literally touch any other one unless I'm another class. The literal only time I've not gotten them was in a glitched map where we needed to clear the tanks asap, otherwise they'd get stuck. As soon as I used my 3 crits I immediately went back to the upgrades.
However, don't let me stop you. If you want to run crits, that's fine. just be mindful of your loadout. I would say if you don't want to run upgrade buildings, maybe try rescue ranger and jag. I haven't tried it myself, so I'm not sure how it'd turn out, but that's the beauty of this game.
WEAPONS:
So.. This really depends on what you're running. For MVM primaries, you will want to either use Rescue Ranger, or Widow Maker. You could run Frontier Justice, but that's only really good for mini sentry, which you will almost never run in MVM, so I say ignore it.
Most players will choose Rescue Ranger, which I don't play with much, but when I do this is how I typically upgrade my Rescue.
I typically try to focus on reload, clip, and firing speed. Most people using rescue (myself included) use it to move the buildings around, and to heal it. You want to be able to heal your machines fast if you're using this one. (also side note I just clicked on a random loadout, that's why I have mini sentry equipped. this is not indicative off what you should use loadout wise.)
Now, this may freak some people out, but I'm a Widowmaker main in MVM. You might be thinking, "why the fuck would i run widowmaker?" Well, Widowmaker is good for tank busting! That sentry firing speed is great, and I also use it to replenish my metal. This is how I upgrade my Widowmaker :
If there's a tank that round/second I'm at the upgrade station, I'll try to focus on the firing speed. Sometimes I'll even ignore the projectile penetration if I don't have enough money.
For beginners, I'd probably recommend you stay on RR, as you'll still be learning how to move around and such. However, that's entirely up to you. If you don't mind running all over the place to grab your stuff instead of just using RR, go ahead! That's the main downside to this.
For secondary, I always go wrangler. I'm usually playing expert/nightmare modes, so giant medics are common. If you have a giant medic, wrangle your sentry and don't let it target the medic's target heal. Focus on the Giant medic with your wrangled sentry. Though, in lower modes, you can go with another secondary of your choosing. Short circut isn't the best, but it is fun. You don't really ever use your pistol/secondary (minus wrangler) unless you actively choose to, so just be aware.
ENGINEER/YOURSELF:
How i go about it is when I have the money, I always go with maxing my fire and crit resistances first. As I get more money, I move onto to bullet and blast after my sentry is maxed. Of course, this always depends on the map for the exact order, sometimes you have to go ahead and get your resistances in order to keep upgrading your sentry. If I have to do this, I always make sure I have at least a tick or two of building health before doing so.
This is usually how I try to upgrade myself when I have the money:
This is typically what I use for nightmare modes, as they give you a bunch of money. The movement speed helps you scurry around to move between buildings and to help you move faster when you're carrying a building. Of course, this is something I normally get only on nightmare, as most expert/advanced missions don't give you the money you need to get what is required first and the the movement speed.
This is also map dependent, but if there's a good sentry spot (will be elaborating soon) that has a pile of boxes to jump on, and you're constantly being hindered by these boxes, you can also get the jump height. Of course, this isn't always needed, and I only really get the jump height if I'm in custom mvm. Normal default mvm you don't really have maps that need you to jump up, so I just usually ignore it.
BUILDING PLACEMENTS:
Teleporter:
This one depends on your map. Like for my example here, the doors are spread apart from another, so I just picked the closest door to the path and placed my entrance tele.
In maps like below where the entraces line up with each other, put your tele in the middle. So many people will put it on just one door, which is okay if there are 2 engineers (the other can put his on the other), but usually most do not play 2 engie. It's not a issue for faster classes, but for heavy and soldier it's a massive inconvenience. Your job as Engineer is to help with bomb and also ease said inconveniences. Don't be a dick.
For your tele exit, try to keep it toward the front half of the map. My general rule of thumb when I'm not in nightmare mode is to try to put it not super far from front, but not to the point where if the bomb gets past the tele it becomes useless. This usually puts it towards the middle or 3/4 of the way in the map. You also want to make sure its not directly visible to bomb path, as you don't want anyone who's teleported in to be immediately targeted. Like in the image below, you can see the bomb path isn't far, and it's in a safe corner.
When I'm placing my tele, if I'm not sure about the placement in correlation to the bomb path, I'll pretend I'm a robot and trace the path myself to see how it goes. Usually if I see the tele at any point, I move it.
With Nightmare Mode, I treat teleporters for the most part the same, I just try to keep it on the ground floor and closer to the front than I would for a regular multiwave mission, as it's handy for getting upgrades.
For example, here is where i try to keep it when I'm playing ghost town:
depending on the path, I sometimes have it on the other side with the smaller fence, but I usually have it on this side.
Sometimes though, on some maps there are no safe spots on the ground. It sucks, but it happens. For those instances, I'll try to put it up top that is close to the front but you can easily access it.
Dispenser:
For your dispenser, listen to me when I say this: Your dispenser is NOT FOR YOU. It is for your teammates.
You generally want to build your sentry near an ammo pack, so you can leave your dispenser for your teammmates. So many people seem to think of only the Engineer's perspective, which is need ammo for building = keep dispenser near, but that's bad thinking. You need to consider the perspective of the other classes. If you don't have much experience with those other classes, play them. It'll give you an idea of how to play better as Engie.
Try to build it on the ground, at the front, behind something. You want to have it near the edge, so you teammates don't have to stand behind the wall to recharge. You don't want to build it out in the open, so in case if your teammates are very low on health, they'll have a spot to hide and heal. Try to move it with your team. If you're pushed back, and your team begins to move back forward, literally pick up your dispenser and follow them, then try to place it on wall edges.
As you see above, the dispenser can be accessed from most sides. This position is typically the best, as it lets heavies have a constant replenishment of ammo while still being able to shoot at the front. This also applies for soldiers, demos, depending on how the map is set up even snipers too. Scouts and pyros can easily swing by for ammo as well before getting back onto the field.
Sentry:
So this is a building you will be moving a lot, and that's usually because of bomb. As Engineer, I usually try to stay with the bomb no matter what, unless a tank needs help and I think the rest of the team can cover bomb while I'm with tank. As soon as bomb begins to get pushed back again though, I'll leave tank for bomb unless it's nearly to hatch.
For actual placement, try to have it kinda like your dispenser: behind a wall, near the edge. You want to try to angle it where your sentry can still target plenty, but have it behind something so it doesn't immediately get targeted and destroyed. It can be kinda tough to figure how to set it up, but with practice it'll become easier to spot.
You can try to put it above the robots on a bridge like this (though this picture was actually at spawn on an overhang, i moved it shortly after bc i realised a spawn was behind me. however, on actual bridges this will be fine usually). I like bridges, as I can swap sides pretty quickly depending on the bomb and robots streaming through.
This is another good spot, as it's in the direct line of sight for bomb for a good range, the robots won't immediately attack it, and you can usually kill more robots than them kill your sentry.
Now, sometimes I will put it more in the open, like this. There is the wall right there, so if I need to pull back my sentry and hit it, I have the cover. I also try to set up in places where i know i can move around freely after the bomb spawns in, like for example in Ghost Town, I will try to build on top once the bomb gets past the first couple of fences so i can place my sentry alongside bomb path and not have to worry about getting shot/blown up.
more examples of sentry spots:
Honestly, with sentries it is a choose your own adventure, as you'll probably be the closest to it most of the time. I've just found it easier to try to keep it near the edge of something as it's harder to hit/I can pick up and move to repair quickly.
I feel like I need to add more to this but reading this I feel like i've hit most of the main points, so I think I'll end this here. If you have questions or anything reblog with them, or just ask me and I'll try to answer! A lot of my tips I've had to take awhile to learn, and even with them I still fail sometimes.
Just know that Engineer in mvm can be stressful, and if you're seriously getting upset over not playing him please take a break! He's not really hard to learn, it's just seriously overwhelming at first and can seem like it's way too much to handle.
I hope my little guide helped some! Now go out there and beat those machines!

So, there’s been a big buzz about Team Fortress 2 after the prodigal son of Comic 7 came to us, and ya wanna know what the buzz is about, hm? this post will be a guide to the basics of getting into tf2, and becoming more familiar with the fandom, from a dude who's been in it for bout fourish years
INTRO
Well, to start things off, TF2 is a game created by Valve in 2007, aka the creators of the video game marketplace Steam and the extremely popular video games Half-life and Portal. There are also some theories that they all exist in the same universe, but this only is canon to HL and Portal some people will say it also contains tf2 but ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
The video game is free on Steam, that is with a massive asterisk as it does contain in-game purchases with real money, for which you have to purchase a pass at 2 dollars to be able to talk in game or use voice commands. Valve says this is to protect against bots but the bot problem has been over for months and it still hasn’t been solved so what are ya gonna do? For much cheaper, you can go into the mann co store in game and purchase a vitasaw for .22 cents and viola you can talk now!
Something to note is that you do not need to play the game to engage with the fandom. I’ve been running a semi-popular TF2 gimmick blog for almost three years now and I’ve noted that maybe 20-30% of the fandom has never touched the game or even has steam. All of the fancy lore is purely supplemental material found outside of the game through comics, and you could easily just watch videos containing all of the voice lines if you truly wanted to know what the men you were drawing and writing sounded like.
THE ACTUAL GAME
Regardless, TF2 itself is a first-person shooter with game modes such as payload, king of the hill/control points, and capture the flag if you’re feeling spicy. If you’ve played overwatch, this is that but it won’t trigger epilepsy by playing it. There's also alterate gamemodes such as payload race where both teams are trying to get a payload to the other side, medieval mode where basically any guns are banned and you are slapping people with swords and fish, as well as pass time which nobody plays but has an extremely obscure and complicated achievement attached to it.
There are also community servers where there are extensively more options for playing, such as casual+ servers where the goal is creating a “better” version of the casual servers. This usually means no crits, changes to bullet spread, aka stuff most non comp players Within these community servers, there's many different gamemodes you can play, such as 10x servers where the damage weapons do gets increased 10x 100x 10000000000x etc etc. There are also “fun” servers where the server owner has put about 100 different plugins and you are just having fun non-serious times. It’s fun.
There are way more community game modes out there for you to enjoy; such as vs Saxton Hale/freak fortress, dodgeball, prop hunt, and plenty more. Explore that community tab to your heart's desire :]
Also! TF2 has a game known as Mann vs Machine(usually called MVM) where you and six other people all kill thousands of robots who are trying to get a bomb to the other side of the map throughout multiple rounds. It’s good fucking fun man. If you want the chance for loot/an extremely rare form of a weapon if you play a map enough, it’s 72 cents per ticket…….but if you don’t care and just want mindless fun, go boot camp and play for free. Boot camp also has way more maps, and often has charity drives hosted by the community where you can earn a neat little badge.
The game also has an extensive player player-driven economy, but unless anyone asks for a post with the basics since I know more about the economy than I’d like, I’ll just say you don’t need to worry about it. lollichop stocks
THE VIDEOS
Now, for the part, most people know about TF2, aka the Meet the Team series of videos. These are a series of 1-3 minute videos on the Valve YouTube channel that introduce the mercs through a consistently inconsistent format. A few of the videos are formatted like an actual interview with the mercs, while others are formatted more like mini TV shows. They’re all wonderfully entertaining and the source of multiple extremely popular memes, meaning even if you don’t know it you’ve been exposed to the videos before. Most famously, it’s the source of the “professionals have standards” image as well as “he could be any one of us”. It’ll take you around 15 minutes to binge all of the videos. Even if you aren’t interested in getting TF2, I’d heavily recommend watching the videos due to how funny they are, plus genuinely good-looking 3d animation. The link is right here
There’s also Expiration Date, aka the pilot of the canned TF2 adult swim show. It’s also up on the valve’s channel and is around 15 minutes. It is probably one of the best things Valve has made for TF2, as well as being probably one of the most quoted shit on this godforsaken internet. It’s where the “dear god, there’s more” meme is from. Watch it. Right now. it's only like 15 minutes, what else are you doing with your time?
THE COMICS
This is where all that juicy lore is. Over the last 17 years, the valve has released free comics to go along with the major updates of TF2, as well as a main series of comics called “mann co no More”. The last comic in this series, which only took about 7 years to come out, aka the length of time someone could have a child and then have that child be in elementary school, was released a few weeks ago as of writing out.
Something to note is that while the update comics are all mostly goofy and do contain some *very important lore*, they’re not serialized and can be from anywhere within the TF2 timeline. Meanwhile, Mann Co No More is a serialized comic and is trying to be a consistent story. It’s an extremely goofy story with about 40% serious and genuinely interesting plot and 60% whatever the fuck soldier is doing at any given moment

It’s all very good fun. Fair warning though if you try to become a TF2 loremaster you will go insane. I sure as hell did.
And now that you have all of the official stuff out of the way, it’s time for
TF2 YOUTUBERS
For your beginner in the fandom, there are three main YouTubers I would personally recommend
Lazypurple, my personal favorite TF2 YouTuber, is most famous for his series of videos “How it FEELS to play __” where he goes over what it's like to play any given class. Except medic. He’s still working on that one. Give him time. https://www.youtube.com/@LazyPurple
Another I’d recommend is Soundsmith, most well known for his guide series on playing the soldier subclass(aka alternate game style) of troldier. And also his cosmetic stereotypes series but he doesn’t like that one these days. He also has a series of videos called “A mann’s guide to the __” where he goes over a more obscure or not very used weapon in TF2. Don’t let the title fool you, it is in no way an actual guide. As a quick warning, Soundsmith sometimes uses the R slur in his older videos. He no longer uses it but just as a warning. https://www.youtube.com/@SoundSmithTF2/videos
Finally, there’s Uncle Dane, most famous for his guides on playing Engineer in the most optimal way possible. If you want to main Engie or even have a passing thought about playing him ever, watch him. https://www.youtube.com/@UncleDane
For some other picks on favorite tf2tubers of mine:
jontohil2: https://youtube.com/c/Jontohil2 most famous for his spy psychology series and guides on playing spy
solar light: https://youtube.com/@SolarLight?feature=sharea most famous for his guides on playing the subclass demoknight and also being the best demoknight player par noneelmaxo https://youtube.com/c/elmaxoTF2 most famous for trying to manipulate the steam marketplace that one time and for his playing 100 hours series. He’s retired nowadays but his videos are still good.
and now
TF2 FAN CONTENT
Sfms:
Source Filmmaker, AKA SFM, is a free animation software developed by Valve originally developed for use in the Meet the Team series of videos that is available for public use. The main draw to the software is the ability to make (easier) 3D animation using premade models that are either built into the software or added in through the steam workshop. Due to TF2 and various other valve properties being built into the software, TF2 is often used as placeholder models for SFM videos. But a good chunk of the SFM community are TF2 fans using it to make fancontent(the most famous ones I will get into later)
Some personal favorite SFM makers mine are:
The winglet https://youtube.com/c/tf2thewinglet most famous for winning every saxxy ever
kostamoinen https://youtube.com/@Kostamoinen?feature=sharea most famous for nothing in particular but just generally being a very good sfm maker
https://www.youtube.com/@SilentManJoe/videos most famous for animating for lythero and not being someone you should watch if you’re under 18 generally
And for some underrated picks:
Misan - https://www.youtube.com/@Misantropico
Hotpockette- https://www.youtube.com/@hotpockette/videos
Colonel fantzipanzen- https://www.youtube.com/@ColonelFanzipantzen/videos
GMOD:
Garry’s Mod,, AKA Gmod, is a sandbox game made as a mod of half life 2. It’s not meant to be an animation software, but dude to some extensions you can download off the workshop, it can be used as a stop motion software with the ragdolls in the game. This is how people animated before SFM was a thing by the way.
GMOD is most famous for being the source of the most batshit tf2 shit you’ll ever see that also doubles as humorus body horror. TF2’s early fandom humor was based off of gmod. And before you ask, skibidi toilet is an SFM series, not gmod despite the similar humor.
The most famous GMOD maker is stblackst, who makes some of the highest quality shit you can make in GMOD. However, he often uses the r slur and some of his videos contain some extremely uncomfortable jokes, but unfortunately that’s how it is sometimes.
Another famous and classic gmod creator is thatgraycartoonpony, most famous for his video “Pyro Paints” that showed everyone that you CAN make pyro funny and expressive. Some of the best.
Finally in our most famous gmod creator trinity, there’s eltorro64rus, most famous for his absolutely insane gmod videos even for gmod. He’s a classic https://youtube.com/c/Eltorro64Rus
For my personal favorite picks:
Dasmashidx- https://www.youtube.com/@DamashiDX
Crazyscoutfin- https://www.youtube.com/@CrazyScoutFIN
Alxium- https://www.youtube.com/@Alxium
Gooserious- https://www.youtube.com/@GooSerious
FAN GAMES:
Something that’s not talked about a lot for some reason!
The two main fan games I’ll discuss here are both by germanpeter on gamejolt
Overtime- https://gamejolt.com/games/overtime/255028
This one of germanpeter’s two crossover tf2 games. Here it’s a crossover of TF2 and Undertale. A legitemtnly fun experience and a good undertale fangame. Fair warning, the sprites are vaguely terrifying.
Midnight Mercenaries- https://gamejolt.com/games/midnightmercenaries/375928
Another crossover game, this one being a crossover of TF2 and Hotline Miami. One of the most fun fan games ive ever played period. Fair warning, if you know what hotline miami is like tone wise, it’s carried over here. Ending may be a bit too angsty and depressing for some people.
Capture the Intelligence- https://gamejolt.com/games/gmod-capture-the-intelligence/850383
This one is not made by germanpeter! It’s a short horror game with heavy early 2010s gmod inspiration and is pretty goofy. I haven’t personally played it due to time, but I’ve heard it’s good.
and now
FANDOM ESSENTIALS
Emesis Blue (and Spy’s disguise)
Emesis blue is a horror film created by the studio Fortress films that came out in 2023. It is one of the most popular sfms in the TF2 fandom ever, and is a full length movie. Seriously, it’s two hours long. I don’t wanna spoil it but I promise it’s good.
However, it’s technically a sequel to another Fortress Film SFM called spy’s disguise. This one is only 20 minutes, and much more humorous than Emesis blue. It is full of body horror though whoops! I would recommend watching it beforehand though.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MiJWNkmWfs - spy’s disguise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0ODG8bFme0&t=4s - Emesis blue
Pootis Engage
A sfm two part series by the wonderful ceno0 that completely changed the SFM landscape. It is so fucking well animated I can’t stress this enough. It is also extremely horny so I’d only watch if you’re of age.
Pootis engage - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl6lee2wyPQ&list=PLvgjnNWlcA0x_WMVzuZquKYwTFVbiBekn&index=1&t=144s&pp=iAQBPootis engage// extreme - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGJBUauU-CE&list=PLvgjnNWlcA0x_WMVzuZquKYwTFVbiBekn&index=2&t=134s&pp=iAQB
The Heavy is Dead
Aka that video we as a fandom are annoying about. A video by the wonderful gmod creator Delak, who doesn’t really do TF2 nowadays, you need to watch it. Not optional sorry
Freak Fortress:
Have you been wondering what the hell is up with those weird edgy looking versions of Tf2 characters? And why some of them consider communion to be literally eating Jesus’s flesh?
Well, Freak Fortress is a community of people who make videos using GMOD with community created characters called “Freaks”. You know how SPC is a community/fandom of people who make SPCS and then everyone uses SPCS in their own stories and whatnot? It’s like that. The freaks are usually mercs with specific cosmetics or alterations to their models that act as their own chracters rather than being the mercs.
The most famous ones being
Painis Cupcake - https://tf2freakshow.fandom.com/wiki/Painis_Cupcake
Christian Brutal Sniper- https://tf2freakshow.fandom.com/wiki/Christian_Brutal_Sniper
And Christian Pure Spy- https://tf2freakshow.fandom.com/wiki/Christian_Pure_Spy
You may notice I linked wiki pages and not videos or playlists. This is due to a few reasons
CPS’s videos are all taken down and you have to watch them through archived channels now, which are pretty hard to find with youtube’s shitty search engine
So many people make different videos with just these three characters, it’s better just to look at the video section of the wiki pages and go through there
If you wanted to get into Freak Fortress, I’d reccomend finding a freak you like on the wiki and then binging all of the videos linked on their page.
My two personal favorites:
Soldine - https://tf2freakshow.fandom.com/wiki/Soldine
Polish Soldier- https://tf2freakshow.fandom.com/wiki/Polish_Soldier
Lil Pootis:
A cute little kind of extremely dark at some points 2d animated series of tf2 videos by the wonderful Quazies. The series is going to be completed for good soon, but as of right now there are nine videos
and that should be about it. if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. or if you want any gmod reccomendations. i fucking love gmod woo

(For mvm 😌) modern!sugar daddy!han solo who buys you the most beautiful lingerie known to man just to rip it right off you
(Ps love your blog!!!!!)
today is multiverse monday, send me any au you can think of! :)
this post is 18+, minors dni.
thank you sm!! and please send me more han requests <3
Han thanks a lifetime of smuggling for where he is now: standing at the foot of his bed, eyes roving over the black lace he'd treated you to. Money comes easy now to the captain of the Millennium Falcon; apparently helping overthrow tyranny pays well. He can't think of anything better to do with his new fortune than spend it on you, especially when he gets to have his fun with your lingerie, too.
"You look stunning," He murmurs, leaning down to press a firm kiss to your lips. It's nearly bruising, forceful and strong.
You let it push you back, and he follows through to guide your back flush to the mattress. Once you're laid down properly he braces a knee on the mattress, planting them on either side of your hips. His hand slides over your hip, feeling the scratchy material of the lace he'd gifted you with.
"You always look so pretty, sweetheart," He hums, speaking through the relentless kisses you press to his lips. His words come out semi-muffled by your pursuits, but he's happy to let you kiss at him, "I mean it, you're gonna break my bank, baby. Run me dry 'cause I can't stop buying these for you. Is that what you want?" He muses, slipping his large, rough hand beneath the hem of your panties. It rests on the curve of your hip, but his short, cut fingernails dig slightly into your ass's pliant flesh, "You want me to go broke or something, baby?"
"No," You let a soft grin take your features over, releasing a breath you'd been holding to continue kissing him, "I mean, you wouldn't have to spend so much money on these sets if you didn't tear them off of my every time, Han."
He scoffs, "There's no fun in that," But his eyes shine with the grin he holds off of his face as he leans down to capture your lips in another firm kiss, his hands indulge in more of your pliant ass, "Art is to be enjoyed, sweetheart, and you're a masterpiece in lace."

What is Architecture and Why Choose an Architect Like Carlo Scarpa?
creating buildings, structures, and other physical environments. It involves the practice of organizing space, assembling materials and resources, and considering aesthetics to achieve functional, innovative, and sustainable solutions for the designs.
Choosing an architect like Carlo Scarpa holds significant advantages. He was a renowned architect whose work exemplified creativity without compromising the rules and fixed characteristics of architecture. Above all, his approach to architecture emphasized creativity, collaboration, and a unique analytical mindset.

Here are the reasons why you need to choose a professional architect and why does it matter
Emphasis on Creativity. Unlike many architects who adhere strictly to established characteristics of architecture, he let his creativity guide his projects. He had a distinct style influenced by a confluence of Japan and Venice, setting his designs apart. His interests in history, regionalism, and the techniques of the artist and craftsman translated into his ingenious works.
Collaboration with Artisans. Scarpa is known for his initial collaboration with the artisans of Murano, an island in the Venetian lagoon acclaimed for its glass masterpieces. This partnership honed his ability to see design potential in everyday items, cultivating a practice that valued artistry and craftsmanship.
Development of Analytical Mind. The employment of analytical thinking is another aspect that sets Scarpa apart as an architect. Through his work with the local glassmakers, especially MVM Cappellin& Co, he developed a mind that was not only creative but also analytical. This balance enabled him to create designs that were not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, which is a fundamental aspect of architecture.
Architecture is a creative and technical profession that covers residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, as well as civic and public spaces. Architects merge their expertise with aesthetic sensibilities to design and oversee the construction of structures that efficiently serve their intended purposes while contributing positively to the surrounding environment.
By choosing an architect like Scarpa, you are opting for an individual who will prioritize creativity, artistry, and functionality in their work. These qualities are essential in creating designs that stand out and stand the test of time. Architecture explores a lot of design, rules and characteristics and he manage to let his creativity wander, through the changes happened on the architectural world since the day has started up until now, he manages to create a compelling masterpiece.

How to leverage AI in finance with Christian Martinez
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/how-to-leverage-ai-in-finance-with-christian-martinez/
How to leverage AI in finance with Christian Martinez
Our sister community, Finance Alliance, recently held an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session inside our Slack community with Christian Martinez, Finance Manager at Kraft Heinz.
So, Christian answered members’ burning questions about how to successfully leverage AI tools in finance, and much more.
Below, you’ll find some highlights from the session, where Christian shared valuable insights and tips with Finance Alliance’s members. ⬇
The main use cases for using these types of tools, such as ChatGPT and Google Bard, include:
Identifying risks, opportunities, and trends.
Facilitating collaboration between departments.
Developing automatic AOP models.
Natural language processing (NLP).
Can ChatGPT interpret past trends and data to help automate financial forecasting?
I’ve seen that Google Bard, ChatGPT, and other similar language models are very powerful tools for many processes, but in order to help automate financial forecasting, they require an additional tool.
For example, Google Bard + Python.
How can ChatGPT help perform real-time financial analysis?
I see ChatGPT helping in two main ways:
Generating ideas on how to perform the analysis.
Providing Python code to use on Google Colab to perform real-time financial analysis.
How can you ensure buy-in from management in finance transformation projects/initiatives?
It’s really important to have that buy-in from management. In order to get it, you need to understand the ‘why are we doing this,’ and ‘why this matters.’ The answers will depend on the management and the project, but understanding those is key.
Another important thing you need to do is map your stakeholders/management people and understand how much interest and influence they have in your initiative.
I prefer to use Python (with Google Colab) for this! But for the MVM (minimum viable model), I sometimes use Excel.
I’m still in the process of exploring the potential of third-party tools. Right now, I’m using Tableau, Alteryx, Python, SQL, Microsoft Azure, and Power BI.
What are your top 5 methods to forecast data?
Random forests
Linear regression
Clustering
Monte Carlo simulation
Time series
How can AI help predict financial patterns?
They can primarily help through decision-making algorithms, predictive analytics, and automation.
What do you think are the best ChatGPT plugins for FP&A?
I have many articles on plugins:
3 Great ChatGPT Plug ins for Finance with Guide + Business Case
Generate your own ChatGPT Plug in guide in 3 Simple Steps
10 Amazing Ways to Use ChatGPT Plugins for Stock Analysis: Part 1
How can I use AI for financial modeling?
There are many good use cases for financial modeling. Some of the main ones are the creation of models (LBO, DCF, etc), research about models, generation of shortcuts guides on your financial modeling software, formula builder, etc.
Do you recommend using ChatGPT API in Python or is inaccuracy still a huge issue?
On its own, the API is the same as using the model on the OpenAI website. If you add things on top, it can then be valuable.
On accuracy, there are two things I’d recommend:
Use this before your prompts: “Act as a purely factual AI that doesn’t hallucinate. If you don’t know an answer or if it’s out of your training data, just say it…“
Treat ChatGPT as the most junior member of your team. They can contribute and help a lot, but you need to check their work before submitting it to your stakeholders/customers. Use your knowledge and expertise to assess the veracity of what they produce.
I mainly use Twitter and LinkedIn. I tend to follow a group of AI “general” influencers on Twitter, and then if I think it can be applied to finance and accounting, I post it on LinkedIn.
These are some of the accounts I follow:

FACEIT, TF2, and YOU: What it is, how to play, etc
So you’ve heard of the hit new thing coming to TF2 but you don’t know what the heck its all about? Or maybe you’re trying to figure out how to use FACEIT to play Team Fortress 2? This is the guide for you.
For those of you interested in signing up, consider using this link. For those of you looking to learn more, please read under the cut. I’ll be giving a detailed explanation of what FACEIT is, what it means for TF2, and how to queue.
Ok, so first thing’s first: what is FACEIT?
FACEIT is an Esports company founded in 2012. It has been hosting leagues and community matchmaking for games like CS:GO and Dota 2 for a while. But this isn’t really too important in the grand scheme. What you need to know is that FACEIT has taken an interest in creating a skill-based, cheat free, matchmaking platform for casual Team Fortress 2.
What this means is that after the closed beta for TF2 ends later this month (March), you will be able to queue into community maps hosted by FACEIT. These servers are heavily monitored with anti cheats so that they will not be infiltrated by hackers and bots which have currently been the plague of Casual Team Fortress 2.
Currently, FACEIT boasts zero bots, zero hackers, skill-based matchmaking, free prizes (australium weapons and rare cosmetics), no autobalance, no random crits, no random bullet spread, and more.
You can learn more about these things in plenty of youtube videos like these:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvfEmlJ_N48
But what does FACEIT mean for TF2? FACEIT poses a chance for TF2 players to experience a more serious casual setting without the current issues plaguing the game. It also means that TF2′s community could grow. Potentially, if FACEIT goes well, Valve could be inclined to improve the future of the game.
FACEIT currently is one of the best options for people who like playing TF2 seriously. It’s not technically competitive, but it is a more competitive way to play. Consider it like playing something like Competitive Overwatch casually. You should take the game seriously, not play as a friendly, and not abandon the game.
If you’re someone who wants more from your TF2 experience and want a challenge, this could be for you! That being said, I caution that it isn’t for everyone. It’s a very different way to play TF2 than a standard causal game is. Maybe give it a try and see if you like it!
-o-
So how all does it work from the technical side of things? How do you play?
Well, I’ve got the guide for you! (This will get long, I’m sorry).
Currently (3/14) the client only offers a closed beta. To get access you will need to be invited by FACEIT to the closed beta. However, you may be able to get access to this by inviting a friend (I’m not 100% sure).
If you have full access, or this is written after the closed beta has ended and the client opens to the general public: start here.
First thing’s first. When you download the client, it may require you to verify your email and phone number before you can queue. This is a component of the anti-cheat. Additionally, it may require that you download the anti-cheat software (this will require a PC restart). I suggest downloading it regardless of it is required. This is merely to help prevent the infiltration of hackers and bots.
The anti-cheat download can be found in the bottom left of your screen. Just download the software and make sure you log in afterwards via the same button once it has been successfully downloaded. NOTE: you cannot install the anti-cheat with TF2 or another game open.
Once this is setup, you should be able to queue with no issues.
From the play menu, you can queue for Solo or Team games of matchmaking 12v12 TF2. It will let you know how many players are currently queuing for the game mode if you hover (hence 21 in this screenshot).
There are currently 8 available maps. You can select your preferences here. However, much like in competitive game lobbies, you will have the option to vote for the map chosen for the match. I’ll come back to this in a moment. For now, you need to know how to make sure you make it into a match.
When a match is ready, there is a VERY short period of time to accept the match. Less than 30 seconds to hit accept. If you miss this window, you will have to requeue. If someone else misses this window, you will automatically requeue. The client will automatically play a loud trumpet flourish and you just hit the button to check in. This is to ensure no inactive players and afks.
This is what the window looks like when you’re accepted into a game and the maps are still being chosen. Team leaders (priority towards people with premium passes) will choose and select a map for the game to be played on. If you’re not a team leader, you can request that certain maps be played or not played.
After the map has been chosen, you will be provided an IP address to paste into your developer console in TF2. If you don’t know how to enable your developer console, please follow this guide.
You have less than 3 minutes to connect into the match. If you make it in during this time, you will be partaking in a few moments of warmup. It’s just like pre-game in Casual TF2 servers. From here, the game functions similar to competitive. One team attacks and sets a standard. The other only has to beat that standard time or amount of points capped etc. (I believe that KOTH maps are best out of 5).
If at any point your team is really getting beaten and you feel the need to forfeit. You can type “!gg” in the chat and a vote to forfeit will start.
If you leave the match early, you will be penalized. So you should really only queue up if you have an interest in completing the game. Even if it goes poorly, you should stick it out or use !gg.
Once the match ends, it will automatically close. Similar to an MvM lobby!
As you play, you’ll be able to work towards points to win prizes (they’re expensive but still possible to get!) as you play the game. Here’s an example of some of the prizes.
There are also missions to help you unlock points. Here are some examples of those:
You will also be able to rank up and unlock points that way. Newer players will have to work up through the ranks. The XP to earn these rank ups comes from playing the game. You can earn your way to the Face Melting rank just by playing the game.
An example of how the ranking system currently works is shown here from Big Joey’s youtube video.
As you can see, the higher ranks will be based on your skill as a player. There are also other things in FACEIT such as ladders and tournaments. These are more complicated and explorable on the actual site or platform itself. So I’ll let you guys check that out on your own.
Overall, there are a lot of fun things about FACEIT! Hopefully this guide helped you understand what it is, how to play, and what there is about it. Please let me know if you have any targeted questions about it in my inbox and I’ll be sure to help provide any info I can.
Have fun y’all and give it a try! This is a cool alternative to casual play.

So I was just thinking about this theory I read that the numbered TF2 comics were actually not a self-contained story meant to bring everything to a close, but were actually setting up a space-themed update, evidenced by the issue featuring Sniper’s mom absconding with the last of the world’s Australium in a rocket around the same time Asteroid was being beta tested.
It’s hard to say whether that was ever true, let alone if it could still be given that Asteroid and Cactus Canyon were pulled from casual way back in 2014 and never re-released in a finished state and work on issue 7 halted a few months after issue 6′s release in 2017 and as far as we know has yet to resume, even briefly.
But I do think it’d be interesting if they really did intend to do another big MvM-style status-quo change with new maps that canonically take place after the mercs have lost their jobs twice in the wake of an abrupt end to a stalemate that had previously kept them employed indefinitely.
Like, maybe the new maps would have Miss Pauling or Saxton Hale doing the announcements in the Administrator’s stead, or the set-up could involve her having planned for every possible contingency and made pre-recorded responses and instructions to guide the mercs through their new mission. And maybe Charles Darling could take on the role the Mann brothers used to have of being the guy whose army the mercs are employed to fight against, or he could be their new employer if Saxton doesn’t need them anymore.
What would interest me most though about a new post-MvM era of gameplay would be the new voice-lines and map easter eggs acknowledging stuff that happened in the comics. Because right now, every map in TF2 exists in an era that takes place before the numbered comics, so there aren’t really any references to them aside from one stray contract line where Miss Pauling says Sniper’s a kiwi, because he turned out to be from New Zealand.
But like, imagine if they added a bunch of lines referencing the fact that Soldier’s dating/married to Heavy’s sister, or if HeavyMedic is finally confirmed in the comics and then everyone has dialog openly acknowledging them as a couple.

Thoughts on The Mitchells vs the Machines
I watched it a while ago and kept forgetting to post my thoughts on it, but some posts here on tumblr recently reminded me.
I disagree with the majority takeaways I see but is that not the spice of life?
As a standalone movie its inoffensive and the writing of it will likely exit my brain in a few months. However I can appreciate that the visual style was different from the typical fare and the mixture of 2d elements for visual embellishments were mostly enjoyable and well-suited for Katie as the POV character.
It's a bit "hyper" for my liking, but that's fine, it's likely intended for an audience that's accustomed to the flood that is the current norm of the internet. It was probably made with GIFable moments in mind and that is the most frequent content that is shared about it, so it certainly succeeded in that regard.
My more critical take is that jokes are delivered at the expense of what could be more authentic themes. Quips are made that draw attention to character flaws or undercut questions the movie should try to answer, but inevitably they are ignored to move onto the next joke or story beat.
The rest would fall more into spoiler territory, so read more for that.
--"They Were Both In the Wrong"
I personally disagree heavily with the thrust of how "both sides" were wrong when the degrees are disproportionate.
I've seen claims that Katie was "as in the wrong" as her father, but she's incredibly patient to the man who does her material harm.
I've yet to have seen someone say specifically what Katie did *wrong* to her father that is at all on par with the *years* he at best hasn't been able to interact with her or worse, actively refused to engage with her interests.
I would generously venture that her flaw was that she was more willing to communicate her feelings to strangers, but she easily talks to her mother and brother- her brother even helps her with her movies and she happily engages him with his own interests, which pivots the point back to how her father is physically/emotionally unavailable and led to the erosion and distance between the two of them.
Due to this, MvM comes across more as Kaite having to do so much more to guide her father rather than a more mutual learning experience for the both of them.
--"Technology that [Dis]Connects"
It's probably beyond the scope and intent of the film, but I was surprised there was no examination about why technology can be more alluring than interacting with physically present people.
For better or worse, the internet can be used as a means of supplementing the validation and acceptance of family. It can also lead to no longer connecting to people around them because of the validation high of appealing to a constantly 'awake' sea of strangers- the spotlight is warmer than the cold reality that they are not the internet image they have cultivated.
For example, the rival 'perfect' family was never revealed to be a carefully constructed highlight reel that Mrs. Mitchell envies, they really were actually that perfect- because that provides an easier punchline than an examination or acknowledgement of how the internet can create unhealthy expectations.
I also can't expect MvM to acknowledge the reality that LGBTA+ people who are rejected by their family resort to seeking a new one through the internet because it would be much harder to redeem/rehabilitate a man defined by being tethered to "old values" if he was homophobic instead of "overprotective" and apprehensive at his daughter's departure from home and her dubious art career.
But hey we got that quick line at the end that Katie likes a girl, so that's a diversity win or something.
(To be clear I'm not expecting a whole parade or even an A or B-plot dedicated to it, but I think it should be acknowledged that this kind of "surprise inclusion" is very easily erased with a change of audio and would be completely unsurprised if this were the case for countries that are homophobic. People can be happy about it, but it is dishonest to pretend that this is a bolder statement than it is.)
In that sense, I do and don't hold MvM to taking a "safer" route about how family always has your back, but this still feels like an important omission considering the focus on technology and its dynamic with the Mitchells.
I will also say that it was also bizarre, to me at least, that the obvious route that her father sees the value of home videos didn't become an active point between him and Katie. Or that Mr. Mitchell's carpentry never really amounts to anything despite having a sentimental wooden moose.
Lastly, I think it's an unintentional, but it's interesting that Katie going to college to pursue her passion is viewed as a Terrible Thing by her father even though if he had his way, he'd be ostensibly living in the woods away from everyone else except his wife.
This isn't a problem, people are a collection of contradictions, but It's fascinating to see what the *narrative* treats as a difficult sacrifice while simultaneously pulling at heartstrings when PAL cites how children ignore their mothers. There's an unexamined comedy that Mr. Mitchell's losing out on his 'passion' to live in the woods away from people is treated as tragic despite the movie's insistence on staying connected with your blood family.
--"The Inconsistent Personhood of AI"
PAL is rightfully angry at being discarded for something new; it's provided as a glimpse of what Katie will do when she finds 'her people' at college.
This in of itself is a good hook, because there is no one universal answer to when a flawed relationship should be mended with compromise or if it's better off being broken for the wellbeing of the ones involved. Family and relationships are not programming, it's a choice and a gamble for whatever it brings but is nonetheless something that must be mutually worked upon.
Initially I thought that PAL was being set up as an exaggerated parallel to Mr. Mitchell. PAL and Mr. Mitchell did their best to provide for their family. PAL and Mr. Mitchell are in different stages of being 'discarded' by their family. PAL and Mr. Mitchell both retaliate at their lack of power in the scenario by using the power granted by their roles to infringe on the autonomy of others for selfish reasons.
PAL even gives a 'chance' for her plan to be halted with, I had assumed this was being set up as the thesis of the movie, about humanity and the value of family, relationships, etc. being used to help someone who is already hurting.
But despite Katie looking at the camera and explaining herself, it is never actually directly resolved or challenged because a punchline was deemed more desirable for this narrative climax.
This begs the question of why PAL bothered with the pretense that she could be reasoned with, especially since this is not some question leveled at all of humanity, just two people.
I'm curious how the writers came to the conclusion that this was the best execution of the scene or if Katie's speech was considered immune to any challenge from PAL. Would anyone have accepted this outcome if PAL were not an AI but instead a person?
It's not necessarily bad writing they went this route, but I doubt anyone would consider this good writing either.
By the end of the movie, PAL is no longer a 'person' who was betrayed and is lashing out, she is an object to be destroyed because the movie has to wrap up. No compassion or chances are spared to this AI that did literally everything asked of her except take being discarded quietly.
Did PAL deserve a redemption arc? For this length of movie, probably not. But it could have concluded with a commitment to doing no further harm. Instead it is an accidental glimpse at how easily the pretense of compassion can be quickly discarded and mostly unexamined with the right framing.
A likely unintentional example is the conditional humanity given to Eric and Deborahbot who are adopted as "family" while the rest of the robots are mowed down without another thought. Some are even beaten and broken while begging for mercy, because again, it is a funnier punchline.
Far be it for me to advocate that the murderbots needed 'a second chance uvu' but for a movie whose conceit rests on 'sticking by family' and 'giving chances', the writers certainly made a choice in deciding which AI get honorary humanity and spared violent death- perhaps PAL had a point about humanity's callousness after all. Bad robots are discarded, good robots get to live.
Even the CEO who realizes he enabled this mess (easily the most unrealistic part of the movie, honestly) is given another chance and he manages to take away a completely wrong lesson.
Speaking of-
--"Maybe I Shouldn’t Have Used Tech Like This"
There's a particular image/gif set posted about MvM with the CEO apologizing for the machine uprising, attributing it to unchecked technology and monopolies. I've always seen it accompanied by people congratulating the scene as if any of this is at all relevant to the movie.
Charitably, these are people who haven't watched the movie and don't know that PAL is a phone AI single-handedly doing this, but most take the stance that this scene is proof the movie is not saying technology is bad, only corporations are.
The speech isn't technically wrong but it is so utterly divorced from what happens in the movie that it's surreal to see people congratulate it as anything but a moment of soapboxing.
None of the datagrabbing was used at all as part of the takeover. It's all magical kid-friendly terminators with no relevance to what anyone's browsing history is. If the company was one that produced robot assistants instead of a being a super tech monopoly, there would be no narrative difference.
The closest to a predatory tactic that is used in MvM is the offer of free wifi which is used to lure most people into their cells which they happily comply with. Curiously this... commentary of people’s mindless addiction to technology is not acknowledged by the Tumblr Court with the same intensity as the CEO’s speech.
But more constructively, I do feel it’s a missed opportunity that Katie who's supposed to be an extremely online person apparently never said any bad things about her family or made any petty vent films for PAL to weaponize. Instead an in-media audio at one of the outskirt locations was used to accomplish its Traitor Revealed moment.
IN CONCLUSION
MvM is a movie that involves topics that ought to be touched on and explored properly in media and chickens out on all of it due to possible concerns with age-appropriate handling or because it was more committed to its comedy than whatever it has to say about family, change and how technology affects people.
It also reminded me that I hope media will finally graduate from the trope that if you spec into any ‘outdoorsy’ hobby you are incurably afraid of technology.

You shall not pass!
Following the Two Cities Update in 2013, the Medic has become a very powerful class in Mann vs. Machine. In addition to the ability to reanimate teammates (discussed here), he can also deploy a projectile shield, nullifying damage from the front and damaging any robots who get close.
As with anything that’s MvM-exclusive, I’m bound to eventually try to port it to normal gameplay, no matter how broken it might be.
Shield Gun Iteration 1 Medigun (*) Ubercharge deploys a projectile shield for 8 seconds, blocking non-flamethrower attacks from the front. The shield deals no damage, but pushes enemies away when they touch it. (+) +10% Ubercharge rate
This shield is identical to the MvM one except that it doesn’t damage enemies. I removed the damage because I felt it made the Medic too dangerous to the enemy; it should be the healing target that’s a danger, not the doctor.
The shield is unique in that it can cover multiple players at once; other Ubercharges lose duration when used on more than one target. That’s what makes it so powerful (not that functional invincibility from the front isn’t powerful, mind you), which is why I only gave it +10% Ubercharge rate. In fact, that may be too much; as it stands, the Medic has very few options for protecting multiple teammates at once, making this an exceptional scenario.
Any Ubercharge is very powerful, though, and requires extensive playtesting. In MvM, this shield sometimes has glitches, which may need to be ironed out. It’s particularly interesting that it can’t block fire, but I suspect that has something to do with fire hitboxes. This video is a useful guide to how/when the shield seems to let projectiles through.
That being said, it’s an interesting idea. Would you use it?

hi mei, for mvm can you do dbf!rockstar!sirius showing reader his old pictures, and reader being like "i'd fuck you, i'd still fuck you", thank you thank you xxx
"That's what you used to look like?" Your mouth hangs partly open, dumbfounded as you take in the image of Sirius when he was much younger. His skin was more pale, hair less wavy, but his eyes were the same, still full of all of that mischief and fire that are present in them today.
"The hair was rough," Sirius scoffs, glancing at the way his dark strands used to just fall around his face with no proper styling, "Wasn't until I got started on stage that I learned how to properly do my hair."
"I dunno," You hum, reaching up to tug the rubber band out of his hair so that his tiny bun falls apart. His hair cascades around his shoulders, and you part it down the middle with your fingernail, ignoring Sirius's groans of protest.
"There," You grin, tugging lightly on the strands of his hair that frame his face so that they straighten out in your grip, "You don't look a day over 30, old man."
"Shut it," He grumbles, swatting your hands away from his face and mussing up his hair until it's properly styled again, a big heap of frizz and volume that puffs out around his face in waves, "Your dad should've never let me leave the house looking like that."
"I like it!" You insist, thumbing through another page of the scrapbook, "Oh, now there's a good one."
Sirius glances with dread at the page, finding a rather unflattering picture of himself sleeping, mouth open and surely snoring.
"Okay," He grunts, closing the book around your hand and attempting to pry it out of your grip, "All done with the picturebook."
"No!' You laugh, chasing after him, "No fair! You still look like that when you sleep, y'know?"
"Shut up," He gripes, shelving the book and grabbing your hips so that he can guide you away from it, "Or I'll banish you from my room, and you'll never get to see my sleeping face again, y'hear?"
"Yes sir," You mock salute, reveling in his exasperation, "Just you wait, I'm gonna buy a wig and go as younger you for Halloween."

MvM Bootcamp: Wave 666, the ultimate wave order guide
THE ULTIMATE MANN VS MACHINE, WAVE 666 GHOST TOWN GUIDE INCOMINGGG
I know it’s been awhile folks, but I’m back (briefly) with a down-and-dirty guide on wave 666.
Wave Order:
1. Crit W+M1 Pyros + Crit Bat Scouts + Crit Giant Demoknights
2. Crit Giant Soldiers + Uber Medics (one medic per soldier)
3. Giant Deflector Heavies + Giant Burst Fire Soldiers + Soldiers + Heavies
4. Tanks + Crit Scattergun Scouts
5. Giant Burst Fire Demomen + Crit Demoknights (small) + 1 Tank
6. Extended Banner Direct Hit Soldiers
7. Giant Heavies + Giant Quick Fix Medics
8. Tanks + 96 fucking Spies <----- HALFWAY POINT!!!!
9. Crit Huntsmen
10. Crit Rapid Fire Soldiers
11. Crit Burst Demomen
12. Crit Airblast Pyros
13. Crit Scattergun Scouts (not to be confused with part 4)
14. 1 Tank + Crit Heavies + Uber Medics
Yes, despite it all being one big waves, the bots still come in a specific order. I’ll organize them as “parts” (part 1, part 2, part 3, etc) since it’s all one big wave. Quick explanation of each part under the cut.
Part 1:
Aka the warm up. Just don’t let them get in close to you, and you’ll be a-okay. The demomen come in groups of four, and the little bots come in groups of I wanna say 10? I’ve never really counted because they’re not that big a threat.
Part 2:
The first time you meet Uber medics in the wave. It’ll be hard for Medic pickers to isolate the medics, since each giant soldier comes attached with one and they come as one messy group, meaning there isn’t a convenient place to put all your stickies/throw your gas to kill all the medics cleanly. Ideally, a good Sniper can take out most--if not all--of the medics. However, since good Snipers are hard to come by, you’re better off popping the medics as fast as possible. If you have a kritzkrieg Medic and a Soldier on your team, it may be worth popping kritz on the Soldier, since Soldier’s crockets can fairly reliably 1 shot Uber medics.
Part 3:
The Giants will always come as a pair. Ideally, you’ll want to kill the first pair before the second one drops, etc etc. The little bots can be annoying though, since the spam is super crazy during this part. If you have a medic, make sure your projectile shield is ready, because you can literally render all the bots useless for a short period of time. If you’re playing Engineer, move your sentry gun out of the way at the beginning of this part or get ready to wrangle it. If you’re playing Soldier, you can fire a few cheeky rockets early to try to damage the bots right as they hit the ground. Splash damage is your best friend during this part. Soldier, Demoman, and Sniper really shine here.
Part 4:
This is the easiest tank part (and also probably the easiest part of Wave 666 if your team is good at working together). If you have an Engineer, he can singlehandedly hold the bomb for the entire duration of this wave, allowing the other 5 players to focus down the tanks. Alternatively, if you either lack an Engineer or your Engineer doesn’t realize the power he has against a bunch of Scouts, dedicate ONE person to stopping the bomb. Some good classes you’ll see often that are good at watching the bomb are: Soldier, Demoman, Scout, Sniper (if he can aim), Pyro (if they’re not on the tank), and Heavy. Demoknights and Spies can also watch the bomb, but they aren’t nearly as effective. Phlog Pyros, Buff Banner Soldiers, and Carbine + Bushwacka Snipers should always be on the tank, not on the bomb. If you’re really struggling, try seeing if your team has enough tank damage. I’ll talk about tanks and tank damage more extensively in another post.
Pro tip: If you think you might be done with the Scouts and want to stop watching the bomb, press tab and see how many Crit Scouts are left. You’re done with Scouts (for now) if the number is 75.
Part 5:
The demomen (both the giants and the little ones) will move in groups of five or ten. This means that they’ll be grouped up very nicely with each other, but it also means that you can quickly get overwhelmed by 20+ giant demos all spamming grenades everywhere. They do, however, take a long time to reload, so if you want to get in a few quick Ubersaws, it’s possible with good timing (2-3 depending on how much you wanna push your luck).
This part is also pretty easy, depending on how much AOE (area of effect) damage you have. Basically, if you have a lot, the giant demos go down fast. If you have very little, well, it’s do-able, but you’ll need to be very efficient at rotating between the tank and the bomb. Oh yeah, did I mention that after 10-15 giant demomen drop, a single tank will appear? Yep! This tank has more HP than the tanks you just fought, so be careful. Ideally, your team will split in half and deal with them at the same time. If you have very little tank damage but a lot of bot damage, focus the tank first (I know, but hear me out). Since you know you don’t have a lot of tank damage, starting on the tank early will make sure you have enough time to get rid of the tank before you take on the robots. Most teams with very little tank damage will have a lot of robot damage, so you should be able to take care of the robots fairly quickly. If you have very little of either, I have to genuinely wonder how you got so far into the wave in the first place.
Part 6:
If you’re playing Engineer, you basically have to hide your sentry around corners to pick off bots before they can react to your gun. If you’re playing any other class, buy crit and blast resistance. Wave 666 is different from other modes in that you can refund your upgrades during the wave. The ending of Part 5 is very slow (a few crit demoknights filter in over a short period of time), so take that chance to get as much crit and blast resistance as you can. Let the sentry gun watch the bomb while your team goes to get upgrades. You’re gonna need it.
This part usually isn’t that hard though, overall, since most people have blast and crit resistance by now anyway.
Part 7:
As soon as the last soldiers spawn, the first Giant Heavy/Medic pair will also spawn. Try to clean up the soldiers before they drop. This is a pretty straightforward part of the wave. Kill the Medic (without letting it pop uber, or else it’ll go back to full hp), then kill the Heavy. Make sure you don’t have more than 2 pairs on the field at any given time, or your life will be hell and the wave will be over.
This part you’ll have relatively little control over, but don’t let the last pair touch the bomb. Usually, the first or second pair will be able to touch it, maybe let the third pair, but absolutely do not let the last pair touch the bomb. If they do, you risk having the bomb still in play during the dreaded part 8.
Part 8:
The spookiest and hardest part of wave 666 that everyone has told you about. Wave 666 is known for 2 things: being really fucking long and the ninety-six fucking spies that come at the same time to destroy your life.
These spies are NOT your normal support spies, which typically come in groups of two or three. No. These spies will swarm. There will be something like 10 or 20 on the map until you kill them all. They also drop money ($2 or $3, this is the part where even the best scouts will lose that A+ rating). But the most annoying, least known part about these spies is as follows:
They can cap the bomb.
You read that right. It’s extremely rare that they have the opportunity, since the tank usually gives enough time for the bomb to respawn, and the Spies will never spawn with a bomb, but if you do happen to have a bomb? Good luck winning this.
During this part of the wave, buy backs, crit canteens, and uber canteens are your best friends. If you’re a non-explosive class, you can jump on top of the tank. If you’re a Scout, please don’t do that if you already see someone up there. You can dodge spies with pretty good success, let the tank Sniper sit up there. Sincerely: a tank Sniper.
HALFWAY POINT IS OVER, SOMETHING LIKE 7 OF 10 TEAMS FAIL BY THIS POINT, SO IF YOU’RE HERE, CONGRATS! YOU’RE BASICALLY DONE!
Note for parts 9-14: These bots all come in a row, and don’t give you a break in between bot types, so you’ll often get a mix of two bots at the end of one part and beginning of the next. You might also start to lag due to the large number of particle effects now in the game.
Part 9:
Crit huntsmen. They’re pretty easy if you have a Medic and a Soldier. I’d argue they could probably hold the bomb all on their own if they don’t die. Snipers are really weak in the HP department, so they’re easy to burst down in groups. By now you should have more than enough damage.
If you’re playing Sniper, this is the last part of Wave 666 that you’ll be useful in until part 13 (since Soldier does your job better).
Part 10-11:
The Crit Soldiers from part 10 are very dangerous. You might want to dodge in and out from behind walls (the ones on either side of the main pathway are good, as well as the wall on top of the building in the middle. If you’re lucky, the bomb bot will go towards the right side (if you are looking from the hatch to the robot spawn), where there is a really good bottleneck corridor. Have a low quality screenshot from a recent game (ignore the icicle sentry buster).
This bottleneck is absolutely amazing vs the bots from part 10-12 because if you can get the bomb placement just right, all the robots will funnel in from the front.
Sometimes, you might get a cheeky flanker, but if you have an Engie or a very aware power class, they aren’t a problem.
The Demomen can be dealt with similarly as the Soldiers.
Part 12:
The Pyros are where your power classes start to falter. The best class against these Pyros is your Engineer. If you don’t have one, good luck. They’ll probably be able to push you all the way to your hatch, but if you have enough people alive (2-3) at any given time, you should be able to prevent the cap.
If you’re at the bottleneck, have one person above and the rest of the team on the ground. Ideally, your soldier(s) are smart enough to figure out that these Pyros know how to reflect and have perfect reflect timing, so they’ll position themselves accordingly.
Part 13:
The Pyros will soon trickle to a halt and some Scouts will start to mix themselves in. Be careful, these Scouts do a lot more damage than the Scouts from part 4.
Part 14:
A few minutes after the Scout’s start spawning, a tank will spawn. This tank is even tankier than the tank from part 5 and drops very little money when you kill it (but that doesn’t matter, you’re basically done anyway at this point). At the same time, the Heavy/Medic pairs will also start to drop, so it’s just a giant fuckfest of crits and panic.
Be warned: robots can cap while ubercharged. If you do not have a Demoman, Pyro, or another class that can disrupt a bomb drop, make sure to pop the medics’ uber before they reach your base.
If you’re playing Sniper, this is the part of the wave that you get to be useful again, because your charged bodyshots will 1 shot the uber medics, preventing them from popping.
If you beat all of that, then you’re done!
Congratulations!
You get to feel accomplished that you beat wave 666.
Make sure to keep an eye out for some in depth analyses of the harder parts of the wave, along with some class guides for wave 666.

It’s not rocket science
One of the Soldier’s defining upgrades in MvM is Rocket Specialist, which works like so:
(+) +15% blast radius per point (+) +15% rocket speed per point (+) Briefly stun target on hit (+) Direct hits are not affected by falloff
It’s quite useful against robots, keeping them at bay while turning them into scrap from afar. But how would it fare if we added it to standard games?
Let’s start off with my theories before we get to some actual playtesting I did.
I want to focus first on the stun mechanic. This briefly immobilizes the target, stopping all their momentum; as far as I can tell, they can still attack, but it’s as if they hit a wall. My prediction is that this could feel awkward and frustrating to play against. It’s dodgeable, sure, but it’s still a bit of a bother.
The second thing is the effective range of this weapon. Because it deals full damage at any range if you score a direct hit, the rockets present a significant danger no matter where you are on the map. They’re also a bit harder to dodge/easier to aim due to the projectile speed. TF2 is a very close-ranged game; only sniper rifles and grenade launchers do the same damage at any range, and the latter have a sharp arc that stops them from flying too far. My post on guided rocket launchers sums up the implications of this attribute:
“...it can make long, open corridors into death traps... I think that the Soldier with this launcher would hang back, out of the fight, and bombard enemies from afar. Not the most entertaining way to play"
Lastly, this weapon would practically have to have a reduced blast radius. You may’ve seen my post on rocket explosion radii - because the radius is squared when calculating area, even a 15% difference can cover a lot more area. You could block entire choke points with this thing. Fortunately, that’s adjustable, unlike some of the other components of Rocket Specialist.
Playtesting To get a better feeling of how Rocket Specialist felt, I gave a friend the Alternative Fortress Liberty Launcher and told him to keep shooting me until he got bored.
Each time he scored a direct hit, I was briefly stopped. Even for a fraction of a second, it really put me at a disadvantage, disrupting what I was doing and opening me up for another shot. I wouldn’t say it wasn’t fun - most of the times I was hit were my own fault, and the projectiles didn’t feel that difficult to dodge - but I want you to keep in mind this was in 1v1 deathmatches on open ground, with me playing the Scout. Spamming stun rockets down a choke point would get a lot more direct hits, and the lack of damage falloff would likely come into play. 90 damage at long distance isn’t anything to sneeze at, especially in a game where the vast majority of weapons work only in short to medium ranges.
Also, bear in mind that I’m exceptionally easygoing. If something feels a little awkward when I’m playing against it, you can guess that many other players would feel white-hot rage.
To summarize: I don’t think Rocket Specialist does very well against human players. It’s not that it’s not effective, but it doesn’t open up interesting ways to play against it. Each rocket, even at long range, becomes a major deterrent that you have to dodge, taking your attention for what should be a simple and reflexive task. It’s not awful, but it’s certainly not going to produce the most entertaining gameplay.
