welcome!
this blog is a side project built from my own frustration at how hard it is to find creative media with canon polyamorous relationships represented. i wanted to create a repository of what i find and consume. this pinned post will serve as a rec list, with links to my reviews as i complete them.

faq
q: can i send a rec?
a: yes, please! if there are major trigger warnings i'd appreciate them, but they aren't a requirement. my only ask is please don't send anything where pregnancy or incest are a large part of the narrative.
q: can i submit a review?
a: not at the moment, but i may reconsider as i get this more put together.
q: will you cover x media which has a really popular ot3/ot4/etc.?
a: no, though i may do a special edition posts on some of my favorites. probably the biggest debate was Leverage/Leverage: Redemption but sadly at present i don't feel i can count among "canon" (though i will be popping the biggest bottles if it ever does become fully canon). i may rethink the "word of god" type canon later, but for now, that's where i land.

short webtoon reclist nobody asked for:
green = biggest rec; assume they all contain some degree of mature/triggering content but theyre good enough that i recommend them anyway | yellow = proceed with caution | red = contains very triggering content | pink = fluffy
you can find most of these on bato.to or mangadex; support the artists/authors where you can too
the king and his knight
i'll save this damned family
concubine walkthrough
your majesty, please spare me this time
sss revival hunter
for better or for worse
omniscient readers viewpoint (read the novel too)
lout of the counts family*
a stepmother's märchen*
secret lady
the broken ring: this marriage will fail anyway
another typical fantasy romance
i shall kill that sweet devil
how to survive as a maid in a horror game
i shall master this family
the pale horse
lady devil
it's time to change the genre
marriage of convenience
let's hide my little brother
not sew wicked stepmom
newer ones i like so far:
blue glass*
the bondservant
i wil become the villain's poison taster
post-possession damage control
* potential to become triggering based on spoilers
* there's a lot of fluff despite the overall heavy tone of the majority of the work
* highly recommended based on the few chapters out so far

1 to 7 👀
take a guess before opening this (it's kind of long)
so actually when I rb'd the post I was thinking about Hoshichen tehe was it obvious (I don't actually hate it... I like it even..but I'm very particular about their dynamic) but I kind of have 3 other ships I basically feel same-y about
Specrene
FranLisk
SariaSilence
Their standard(??)/popular depictions basically have 'Webtoon CEO with yaoi hands harassing/forcing themselves on naive powerless guy' kind of vibes to me (This applies to a lot of Lapptex too I think) basically if you turn the 'bottom' into a kyaa noo stop type of girl with no agency...goodbye forever
What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
See top but I guess more specifically Specrene: specter is treating her like a actual pet bird to torment/tease than a fellow humanoid(?) until the end of her op rec where she finally kind of acknowledges irene as a fellow 'human' like whaa
2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
Hoshichen but they're also like more than that to me im just going to quote my friend here and hope it suffices
Tumblr media
uhh like. they know that they'll never get the other's full background and theyre (may be begrudgingly) fine with that (as opposed to chenswire thats like mutually 'i already know everything about you why are you still pretending otherwise' in all actions but speech)
3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
man idk honestly lol... but i also rarely unfollow people over this kind of stuff usually I just mute words or just go hm interesting i guess (scroll past)
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?
see top I think they're all popular/the 'default' ship (except for specrene)
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
see top (and below...) chen sir is cringefail but not like a hollywood damsel please....
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
I wouldn't say hate but I used to be really ehhh on
1) Mos/Fia because (see top) but I love fail mostima and cringe fia I'm glad GA showed how pathetic the two of them can be
2) I kept seeing Lin/Swire with (see top) dynamic and i was like goddamn you guys did it to hoshichen and now them too COME ON.. JUST BECAUSE SWIRE APOLOGISED ONCE EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS BACK TO BEING QUEEN BITCH RIGHT AFTER uhh anyway. there was this weibo post I saw when Lin was announced that like awoke something in me it was kind of like a drabble or something...? basically something like 'lungmen quad is so nice because you have 2 police(chen & swire) and 2 underworld people(lin & hoshi <ex tho) so the dynamics is like wowww!! honestly it was kinda hard to read lol but it was basically like canon compliant imagining about after swires kidnapping when they were kids, they fractured fr fr because chen was like im going to 1000% train while lin feels awkward since swire got kidnapped by underworld guys or sth and her family and therefore she herself is part of the problem and it ended with the both of them butting heads while thinking "why wasnt it me that saved her back then?" (cause it was hoshi right lol) and i just went like MANNNNN. it's like the core of my wuxia/gufeng AU that's collecting dust in my folder sorry if that made no sense
3) hoshichen but see below first and then come back; JP fan interpretations just hit different man the biggest reason why i still eat this ship sometimes
7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?
see top but especially for HoshiChen because i don't really care for the other 3 ships lol. people depicting Hoshigummy like average yaoi mafia boss that forces themselves on the MC without an ounce of respect for either party when shes like actually perfect(to me...)
omake/bonus chart i made a while back before WWB dropped
Tumblr media
hope nobody gets mad over my opinions though lol enjoy whatever you like even if its ooc!!! peace and love on planet terra

Tournaments you ask?? 👀
Here are some recs for you bestie!
God of High School: About a bunch of martial artists high schoolers who do tournament style fights to win a price of their wish. I recommend watching at least the fighting clips of the anime that you can fight on YouTube because the fight choreography is amazing. However, if you want to read the entire story, then I highly recommend the Webtoon because the anime butchered the entire plot.
Hunter x Hunter: About aspiring hunters who fight in a tournament to become hunters. The entire anime is essentially a massive tournament arc. I recommend the anime. The manga art isn't all that great. I recommend watching the 2011 version and not the 1999 version.
Tower of God: About a tower that summons chosen people to compete to get their most desired wish. Again, I recommend the Webtoon rather than the anime because the anime made the plot kind of mediocre in my opinion. It was an enjoyable read and pretty much the entire thing is kind of like a tournament arc to some extent.
Naruto: About ninja students that go on missions and sometimes have to fight on tournament arcs to increase their rank. The chunin exam arc is one of my favourite tournament arcs of all time, so if you haven't watched or read Naruto I highly recommend watching at least up to the Chunnian Exam Arc/The first part of Naruto, so that you can get some inspiration.
My Hero Academia: I'm not the biggest fan of this series to be honest, but you might like it. I did enjoy watching some of the clips of the U. A Sports Festival, it kind of had a mini tournament arc-is thing going on, so maybe watch some YouTube clips if the show doesn't interest you?
Record of Ragnarok: About Gods and humans who fight in a series of tournament arc that will decide humanity's fate. Again, I highly recommend reading the manga because the anime kind of butchered the plot in my opinion.
YuYu Hakusho: About a delinquent teenage boy who dies and ends up getting the opportunity to regain his life after completing a series of tasks. One of the arcs for this series, The Dark Tournament Arc is one of the best tournament arcs of all time. For this, I honestly recommend the anime, it's a bit old but it's just really good.
Black Clover: About a mage with anti-magic that manages to enter a guild of mages. There's a bunch of exams and tournament-is episodes/chapters that take place. I would recommend the manga personally since I haven't watched the anime, but the anime might also be good. I have no idea.

Today being a rare day when I remember web toons exist and go back to binge, here's the ones I actually care about. These are not full recs/run downs bc I don't have the energy!
- Heir's game, while a romance (the central one is very fun!) For me the biggest appeal of heir games is it's central revolution plot about family dynamics, and class. It has some of the best gore/injury I've ever seen without being meaty, and you kinda of have to read it to know what I mean. People be getting hurt in all kinds nasty ways, it is very cool and fun. Heir's game is complete! If I had to recommend one webtoon it would probably be this one
- Daybreak: a very cute, Black, masc t4t highschool romance in a slice of life. It's just adorable, a great pick-me-up. not for you if you're not a romance fan as it centers on that, and it doesn't strive for complexity. It's cute. It's fun. If you like it, you like it!
- Les Normaux, is a very diverse character-driven romance-ish? About relationships in supernatural Paris. I last read it ages ago and need to restart, but not all of the relationships it explores are romantic ones.
And honorable mention has to go to "Ms.Abbott and the doctor" because it was a nice, neat resolution to my questionable history with victorian romances. It was genuinely just a good fun story about community and manners.

It's super cool to hear you talk about romance manga! If you don't mind me asking- what are your favorites and why? (also, if you haven't read it, try You Got me,Senpai. It's like.... WEIRDLY GOOD.)
I got a tag for m/m recs and f/f recs and m/f recs but I dunno about favorites bc it tends to change depending on my mood and what I’ve read lately. also there’s a bunch of what I’d consider my favorite that I wouldn’t necessarily rec to others. well I’ll rehash a couple of them. the rec posts have the caveats and warnings and if it doesn’t have a rec post you’re on your own I don’t feel like writing it all out. Also I’m including webtoons.
A couple m/m faves:
My Bias Is Showing—it seems pretty standard at first glance but the charming art and the charm points of each respective character makes it really stand out. I absolutely love how you need a chart to track everyone’s respective understanding of the situation and how nobody actually has any idea what’s going on. I love how the character that could easily fall into stereotypes of the “weaker” role is very solidly just some guy and is very active in terms of both expression of desire and trajectory of the relationship. I love that siyeol is simultaneously cunning + manipulative and also the biggest idiot alive who essentially tricks himself into falling in love with just some guy because of the dog-blooded drama that only exists in his head. I love the scene where Siyeol bursts into tears and Aejoon just wraps him in a curtain burrito and walks away.
The Honest Life of a Game Studio—I really like how it ends up being this genre mashup of slice of life office romance and… well, I guess quick transmigration kind of? you get to see the characters interact in both extremely normal office settings and also extremely high stakes life or death scenarios. I also like just how detailed the video game studio segments are, like wow the artist definitely gives the impression of having either direct experience or observation of the office side of things. Also the main characters are essentially THE most Just Some Guy energy possible. Like they have their quirks, and Nobu is a big name in the video game world, but it’s kind of in the same way of ‘oh, shu takimi exists.’ he’s not as out there as, say, uchikoshi or kojima. and Anan is just a mega-fan who works in the industry. it’s a good contrast of ‘extremely normal’ and also ‘these guys are now trapped in time prison’
a couple of f/f faves:
Hana to Hoshi—this series stays in my heart. I’ve mostly moved away from high school romance because I like reading stories about characters in my age bracket (but preferably older) but these are my forever gals. I think it’s kind rare to find f/f with my preferred dynamic of ‘stoic weirdo’ and ‘kinda desperate dumbass’ especially with the fun chaotic energy I’m drawn to and this matches it exactly. also has MULTIPLE layers of one-sided familiarity which I absolutely LOVE. you get TWO WHOLE INSTANCES of the whole ‘oh… who are you?’ which is really funny. I also really like hanai’s character arc in terms of being burnt out on what she used to love and rediscovering that joy again, especially since for the most part it happens independently of hoshino.
After the Curtain Call—this series turns me stupid I turn into those awful rec post writers that only lists tropes and archetypes because a lot of them appeal to me. there’s an OFFICE LADY there’s an ACTRESS they’re ADULTS. Jaeyi is sooo cool and Soyung is sooo charming. they’re also very Just Some Guys energy. I also like how they tend to be on completely different pages about their relationship but somehow it never comes up and just works out??? lol??? like I’m sure it’s frustrating to some but I think it’s hysterical that jaeyi is like ‘man I gotta get a role so soyoung doesn’t dump me for being a loser’ and soyoung is like ‘I Am Going To Support Jaein And Her Career No Matter What’ like girls. somehow this is working.
A couple of m/f faves
For Better or for Worse—dylan is sooo charming dylan is soooooo charming I love her. also I really like the barriers to this relationship because it’s nothing that can be explained or resolved easily. on cedric’s side, he’s like ‘oh, she’s still hung up over her ex-fiance and considers him the love of her life…’ and on dylan’s end it’s ‘I know the story and the character you’re supposed to end up with and I care about you and her and I know I’m a placeholder so I can’t get too comfortable and I have to prepare myself to send them off with no hard feelings’ and I *really* like how the trajectory isn’t about the heroine being Actually The Worst Blah Blah Blah but with how the narrative seems to be going and what little I’ve read on spoiler threads it’s more of ‘well different things happened and people have different relationships now so of course they’ll respond differently, people aren’t going to Snap Into Place.’ equipotentiality yknow
I’m the villainous daughter and I’ve decided to keep the last boss as a pet—I actually have no idea if I got the title right I have five minutes anyway I love this one aileen gets to actually have villainous traits without being framed as needing to develop out of them, she’s ambitious and cunning and that’s her strength! also it’s fun seeing claude get yanked around by her whims and guile. There’s also an interesting conflict of villainess transmigrating and having the perspective of ‘this is my life that I’m living in this world’ and the protagonist having the perspective of ‘this world was made for me’

Hey lew!! yeah found you thru the sideblog. and imma sort through the card soon, very glad I'm not the only one to make huge detailed lists of what I'm reading at the moment. I've been reading webtoons every day for like 6 years so a lot of the stuff you've listed I'm familiar with, but some of your recs like Eleceed I dropped early. I'll prolly give them another chance. GOD LAVENDER JACK. Also one of my favorites, I'm such a sucker for masked superheroes. Ah I could gush about it forever. As well as Seasons of Blossom, it made me cry for like 3 weeks in a row and it's fast approaching doing it again. (Gourmet Hound and Heir's Game are also really good!!) I don't recognize anything from the canvas section and I don't read from Tapas so I'm really excited. Tho Castoff. I started reading that one recently and I'm in love with all the characters. Please feel free to chat about webtoons if you wanna yell about new updates!! I prolly know about it! And I made a really long webtoon recommendation doc if you want it too lol
i think about lavender jack every godamn day of my life only comic to exist ever
eleceed is like. very corny but in a way that’s really earnest and unapologetic and i’m obsessed with t it’s so so so fun. sometimes you just need a silly comic about super powered teenagers and cats man
i read. so much stuff on canvas all the time. i love just going thru canvas and binging an entire series in one sitting. i had like twice as many canvas recs that i removed… i just fucjin love reading webcomics so much it is one of my biggest hobbies
tapas…. i don’t like the site very much but i do like lucid memories a lot. i’m trying to wane off series i’m reading on there tho so i can eventually be free of it. also castoff i am In Love With. i’ve been reading since even before frankie was introduced!
i would love your doc. you have my discord yeah? send it there, it’ll probs be easier than going thru asks

Omg seeing you post about the htwmho made me wanna recommend asm/foas (a stepmother marchen/fantasies of a stepmother) to you it depicts alot of issues & handle it realistically imo I REALLY feel like you would enjoy it
There's fluff, angst, political story, lot of parent/child focus nd yada yada but I feel like I wouldn't be able to do it justice if I talk about it so I want you to go nd see for yourself if you like this story
I'm interested in ur opinion if you decide to read this recommendation
Tumblr media
Hey anon, sorry for late answer. I checked story after this ask but dropped.
*Be carefull for the spoilers*
I know whats gonna happen since i got spoilers. I know the love triangle (which i hate it but thats okay, doesnt bother me much). She misunderstood her family, they actually loved her. Her perspective is different etc. It actually looks like nice story. But art was terrible (compared to other webtoons). It made it harder to focus. And once again, i just didnt wonder whats gonna happen with female lead. Just like every female lead, she is gonna get new love interest, get along with her family members but what makes it even boring for me is that they even were by her side at the earlier chapters. Story still might've good things but it just didnt make me curious enough to read it more. And i didnt feel much for any of those characters.
Even when i read 'how to win over my husband' webtoon, even you know, he is gonna fall for her eventually, her trauma and the reaction characters are gonna give when they learn about her abuse, it makes you wonder. Her every single second suffering makes you drive to read it more. You wonder when she will be happy, when they will realize. Even romance wasnt that much a good writing, it still gives you something since the start. At least thats how i felt when i read that story. I cant feel much for main character when they have almost everything at the beginning, knowing they will get everything at the end anyway. I think this is one of the biggest issues of webtoons.
At least thats how i felt. Maybe i might look/read the story again one day, but i dont plan to do that right now and i didnt want to leave this 'ask' as answerless so yeah. Thanks for the rec. anyway ^^. Still open for more rec.

Heya ! i was wondering if you have a list of the webtoons you read/stuff you like that you would recommend
Hey there! I did a post on that a while ago, but I can't find it (more like I was too lazy to look for it properly) so I'll try to replicate it and add a few more things, I'd like this to be a master post that I'll be updating frequently. It's also a good opportunity to put more effort into it lmao. The old one was a lazy post. I have some recs for those who follow me for BNHA and Eldarya, in case you wanna check this out.

As I said on that other post, I haven't been reading many new webtoons lately. In fact, I'm many chapters behind on those that I used to read religiously, so I'm sorry if I'm not helpful lol.
On another note, all of the rankings here are personal, obviously.
1. UNHOLY BLOOD
Tumblr media
ACTION | FANTASY
5/5⭐
"When vampires destroy her chance to have the normal life she’s always wanted, Hayan is forced to draw on her darkest secret to rid the world of the merciless hunters that took it over 10 years ago. With the support of a rising star in the local police force, Hayan steps up to protect her loved ones, face her past, and get her revenge."
*HURRY!! this series will become a daily pass series in about a month!! You are running out of time
I talk about it with more details on this post.
My all time favorite without a doubt. I won't lie to you, the ending was rushed, BUT it didn't make the webtoon less awesome. Everything about it is fire, and it's a quick read.
In a nutshell, the story is set in a world where vampires exist and everyone knows of them, and they are the country's biggest threat. (I was traumatized by twilight whenever it came to vampire stuff, but this is art) Out main character, however, is a vampire herself, and an incredibly strong one at that. Certain event forces her to seek vengance on the vampire leaders who do as they please with the country in aspects like pharmaceutics, politics, entertainment, etc.
Something I mentioned before, is that there are a lot of incredible biblical references. For example, each vampire leader has an Alias referencing one of the demons of each deathly sin, and this, of course, describes their motivations. For example, Lucian, a reference to Lucifer, and the character's main characteristic is that he's incredibly proud. This is probably the coolest thing about the series to me, the amount of symbolism. The protagonist also has a lot of characteristics that place her as a reference to Jesus, the "savior."
The webtoon has romance, shocking plotwists, and an amazing art. But because I know some of you guys are like me, I feel the need to point out that there are also lots of hot characters.
Here, take a look:
Tumblr media
2. UNORDINARY
Tumblr media
ACTION
4/5⭐
"Nobody paid much attention to John – just a normal teenager at a high school where the social elite happen to possess unthinkable powers and abilities. But John’s got a secret past that threatens to bring down the school’s whole social order – and much more. Fulfilling his destiny won’t be easy though, because there are battles, frenemies and deadly conspiracies around every corner."
Alright, this one is veeeery well known, I know. Still, for those who don't read webtoons, this one is a good start, especially if you are a BNHA fan.
Basically, the series is set in a society where people have special abilities. These abilities are ranked depending on how strong they are, and that'll also affect how you are treated, and your place in society.
What I really like about this one is that it does what we all want BNHA to do. It actually shows us how fucked up a society where people have abilities can be. What's very interesting is that they don't have the need to portray this by using heroes, in fact, there are no heroes here. There are a couple of vigilantes that are not well seen by people, though.
In this story, the authorities make the role that heroes have in BNHA. They are who people should trust, but instead are fucking corrupt. Of course, there are characters who actually want to do things right. I also really like how emphasized social hierarchy is. To the point where people are literally labeled with a number that decides how worthy they are, and how much respect they deserve.
3. SUB ZERO
Tumblr media
ROMANCE | ACTION
3.5/5⭐
"What would you sacrifice to save your family? How far would you go to protect your people? For Clove, the last princess of a near-extinct Dragon clan, the answer is the unthinkable: MARRY your greatest sworn enemy in an effort to bring peace to your land."
This one is A GREAT pick if you are into Eldarya, and if you are into Lance.
I won't lie to you, this is one of the series that I haven't been keeping up with, but definitely not becase I don't like it. I just don't have time. We follow Clove's story, the princess of an ancient dragon clan, who sees herself forced to marry the prince of the enemy dragon clan for the sake of her people. THIS IS AN ENEMIES TO LOVERS! If you are too picky, you might consider it as rivals to lovers, but I don't think that's the case. For all of us who were expecting that kinda trope for Lance and Erika, this is it. The male protagonist is a bitch, but kind on the inside, just the way we like it. I really like this romance, I feel like it was well constructed and veeery entertaining, it's hard to stop reading. As I said, I'm some chapters behind, so I don't know if that might've changed, but I don't think so. Quite a spicy story.
4. VILLAIN TO KILL
Tumblr media
ACTION
4.5/5⭐
"There are two kinds of people with special abilities: villains, who are driven by their evil desires, and psykers, who pursue justice and work against villains. Cassian Lee is a very powerful psyker with a good heart. But one day, when he visits his friend in Greece, things take a wrong turn. Following an unexpected chain of events, Cassian ends up in the body of a Korean high school boy... who has just become a villain! Will his sense of justice win in the end or will he end up becoming a cold-blooded villain?"
This one, this one, this one!!! Another GREAT pick for BNHA fans. This is set in a world where you can be born as a child of the sun or a child of darkness. You don't get to choose, and this will determine if you turn into a hero or a villain. We follow Cassian's story. He's a professional psyker (hero) who sees himself betrayed by the company that's supposed to manage psykers; and when I say betrayed, I mean he was literally murdered by them. However, certain factor leads him to revive... In the body of a villain. This makes him realize that the psykers who he admired so much, are a bunch of rats, and the villains he had been thought to hate his whole life, aren't that bad after all. He wants revenge. Revenge against those who lied to him and killed him. We'll have to see him fight his now natural instinct to be the bad guy and stay true to himself, while we also see him become more and more familiar with being a villain rather than a psyker. This is a great story to show us that not everything is black and white. I really recommend it.
5. THE WARRIOR RETURNS
Tumblr media
ACTION
3.5/5⭐
"After saving one world, warrior Minsu Kim returns to Earth only to find that he’s lost everything... so he decides to destroy the world he used to call home. In his rampage, he kills teenager Jeongsu Park and his family. But instead of dying normally, Jeongsu is transported to another world, where he finds that he's now a warrior himself. After killing the demon king of this alternate world and honing his skills as a warrior, Jeongsu returns to earth, hell-bent on revenge against Minsu. As the two warriors fight with the fate of their country in the balance, who will emerge victorious?"
This one is a new one, it only has 18 chapters as of now, but it's pretty damn awesome. If you already read Unholy Blood and liked it, this series is just for you. It has a very similar dynamic when it comes to the antagonists. The main character has to defeat them one by one. We follow the story of two characters, the protagonist, and the antagonist. The series begins with the antagonist's story, when, one day, he just happens to appear in an alternate universe where the one who defeats the demon king, will br deemed a hero and go home. And he does. Except that when he gets back home, everything is a mess and his life falls appart. That's when he goes on a maniac rampage and turns the world into an apocalyptic disaster. This disaster ends up killing the protagonist's family, and himself. Except that when he wakes up, he's not death, he's in the world the antagonist had gone to, and also happens to kill the demon king and become a hero. When he gets back to his world, his only mission is to kill the man who killed his family, but he'll have to fight many other warriors who also went trough this alternate world before getting to the main villain.
6. DEVIL NUMBER 4
Tumblr media
ROMANCE / SUPERNATURAL
4/5⭐
"When a down-on-her-luck student runs out of money -- and hope -- it’s time for the devil to make his entrance and give her an offer she can’t refuse. But this devil has problems of his own. He’s a cog in Satan’s corporate ladder, who’s quickly losing credibility because that same desperate girl isn’t ready to part with her soul willingly. Now, she’s working at his coffee shop while he tries to convince her that she can have it all. And the cost? Merely her mortal soul…"
Here, we follow Hanna's story. Her life is not ideal, she has lots of money issues and not many people to rely on. The perfect target for a devil who wants to make a deal. That's where we meet an enchanting devil who will offer her a better life in exchange for her soul. While she's not interested at first, she ends up signing anyway, and the devil is as happy as one can be... Until her time starts to run out and he realizes that he fell in love with her. What a weird thing, in a world where devils are said to be unable to feel anything for anyone. In a world with devils, angels, a god and satan, it's hard to get bored. I truly recommend it.

MYSTERY
4/5⭐
"Her ability to detect lies has made her an outstanding officer of the law – despite being haunted by her inability to save the ones she loved from a gruesome fate many years ago. Now, she uses her powerful gift to defend the defenseless at any cost – even if it means teaming up with a deadly assassin to fight evil in a world gone mad."
I'm only halfway through the series. However, I love it. In this story, we follow a police officer who has the ability to detect lies. She has a strong sense of rightness, and wants to make the world a better place... Even if it means betraying her team and make a deal with one of the most dangerous criminals in the city to get to her goal. It has a lot of tension, mistery and I would recommend it to any of my fellow criminal minds fans. Or anyone who happens to love police themed series and true crime, really.

ACTION
⭐- coming soon
"Dokja was an average office worker whose sole interest was reading his favorite web novel 'Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.' But when the novel suddenly becomes reality, he is the only person who knows how the world will end. Armed with this realization, Dokja uses his understanding to change the course of the story, and the world, as he knows it."
Now, this one is very popular as well, but it's deserved. I started reading it a while ago, and only went back to it last night. I'm still very far behind since it's a long series, still, what I've read so far it's great. It has an amazing art style, and an amazing premise. I can't say much for now, but i'll definitely update this as I continue reading the series.

DRAMA
3/5⭐
"Hwajin Na’s teaching techniques are pretty violent for someone who works in the Ministry of Education. That being said, when punishments don't seem to work on even the worst of school bullies, there is no better man for the job. Sometimes you can’t get a good education until those bullies are taught a lesson."
If I'm honest with you, nothing here makes sense, but I like it. It's set in a worls where teacher's used to be allowed to hit students until recently. When hat changed, students began to be assholes to teachers, to the point where a student murdered a teacher. This event caused the foundation of the TRPA, an agency made to put students in their place, and they are more than allowed to hit them. Our main character is one of the agents working for the TRPA, and the series is based on him beating the shit out of annoying kids. It's actually pretty entertaining, especially since the cases he has to deal with are pretty serious. It's a new series, but worth a read. You'll like it if you are a Shouta Aizawa fan. The MC resembles him in personality and physically.

ROMANCE
3.5/5⭐
"When his relationship went down the drain, Chiko Dyer started to develop a weird relationship with a local delivery girl."
You'll love it if you are an I love Yoo fan, especially if you love Nol. Our main character ends up meeting a rich kid as she delivers him a pizza. This rich kid is going through a hard breakup, and asks her to pretend being her girlfriend in front of her ex, the only reason she accepts, is because he offers to pay and she needs the money.I don't think I have to disclose what happens after that, right? Our male main character has a loooot of similitudes with Yeong Gi/Nol, so I think many of you will enjoy it.
AS FOR VERY POPULAR SERIES I ENJOY:
Let's play - Charles. (3.5/5)
The remarried empress - I just love women who put men in their place. (3/5)
I love Yoo - Cult classic. I love it. (4/5)
Cursed Princess Club - Very sweet and great if you have trouble with self worth. (4.5/5)
Men of the Harem - It's a weird concept, but I have fun with it. (3/5)
Edith - Very far behind, BUT I love the art style.
Age Matters - I couldn't care less for the main couple during the last season, I only finished it for the secondary characters, tbh. (3/5)
My dear cold blooded king - hated the last season, but the beginning was great. (2.5/5)
Lore Olympus - Got tired of it like 80 chapters ago, sorry. I do want to read it again, though. (3/5)
True Beauty - It has it's good moments, but the MC started to piss me off at some point. (2.5/5)
NOT SO WELL KNOWN SERIES (I think) I GAVE A SHOT RECENTLY
Devilish Romance - great to forget that you miss Devil number 4. (3/5)
Brimstone and Roses - Interesting concept and a fun read. (3/5)
The make up Remover - It gives me cursed princesses vibes. I like it. (3/5)
Like wind on a dry branch - I love many things about it and dislike many other things. (3.5/5)
Zero Game - Great for those who love videogames, I think. The only issue is that it's hard to keep up with it because they give you too much information with each chapter. (4/5)
Please, please, pleaseee add your own recs, guys!!! I'd also like to hear them. It would be lovely if you'd add more to any of the series I mentioned as well.

3, 4, 7, 9, 22, 32 :D + also, if you have any drama reccs for someone that wants to get into them 👀 (i'm more into mystery and horror things, but anything you think is good)
3: top 3 dramas?
i'm going to say the basic answer, which is that i literally can't choose, but three dramas i love very, very much are 1) arthdal chronicles, 2) the untamed/word of honor, 3) healer. i really only finish dramas that i really, really like though (my attention span is not that great ;-;), so i'm hard pressed to rate them. i do have more that i can generally list off when someone asks for recs though.
4: do you prefer chinese, thai, japanese, or korean dramas?
i'm about to give a long winded answer that kind of comes down to 'i don't really differentiate,' but here goes. so i watch the most korean dramas, because kdramas were what i first got into and they're like my base drama, plus i've finished a lot. i know the kdrama industry pretty well. however, cdramas are a close second; i initially only watched a couple, but in recent years i've been watching them more and more. still haven't finished nearly as many cdramas as i have kdramas - mainly because cdramas are long, like can be 50+ episodes long, and it's hard for me to keep up momentum unless they're <20 or i'm binging. cdramas are pretty dear to my heart though, and have a lot of hidden gems. i also got into thai dramas a few years ago, after starting one or two and then not really getting anywhere. i watch enough that at this point there are times when i only feel like watching thai shows, but i'm not really that into them as a whole yet. the only type i don't really watch that much of is japanese dramas, i think alice in borderland is the only one i've really finished, and i've started probably less than 20 in all my years. they're just hard to get into, i don't know. so yeah, cdramas or kdramas in the end, but like i said, i'll have periods where i really only feel like watching one type of drama, it's weird.
7: an underrated drama?
so many!!! but one i always have to promo is taxi driver - that one is an absolute gem, and it stars lee jehoon <3. also life, which is a pretty niche drama despite starting lee dongwook. nobody talks about it lol, but i honestly enjoyed it a lot, and i still rewatch it at times.
9: last drama you finished?
under the skin - it's a cdrama, 20 episodes, and actually really good! it's about an artist who joins the police as a sketch artist, and he obviously has really amazing skills. however, the one person he can't draw is a woman who asked him to draw someone who she then (presumably murdered). that person (the dead one) was an officer of the force he joins, and a close friend of his new partner/the detective he works under. it's pretty gripping, and focuses on several interesting cases.
22: favorite drama cliche/trope?
found family, of course. also the tragic used-to-be-friends trope. i'll also admit i like a certain amount of misunderstanding as long as it works with the plot.
32: most aesthetically pleasing drama? (in terms of scenery, sets, and/or cinematography)
i'm struggling to remember right now. this might also be because i'm a pretty simple minded girl, if something is pretty than i'm just like 'that's pretty!' and i am easy to please when it comes to cinematography, unless it's very weird. inspector koo had a lot of interesting shots though. ever night too - still only two thirds of the way through that drama, but wuxia dramas tend to be pretty good when it comes to scenery, unless the cgi is obvious.
now, onto actual recs for you <3
i'll be the first to admit that i'm not that much of a horror girl, but in recent years i have found myself watching more of that genre. one of the biggest ones is sweet home - you've probably heard of it; humans start turning into monsters, people trapped in an apartment building, used to be a webtoon. however, if you want hardcore horror (sweet home is more gore/suspense), i would really recommend the guest. that one gave me actual chills, and it is all together great in the aspects of character and plot development. it's about three adults who were connected by a tragedy as children, basically chasing down this Big Bad Spirit they need to exorcise. there's possession, priests, trust issues, etc. the first episode is really scary, but if you can get past that you'll probably be good for the rest of the show (and if you don't think it's scary, then you are not as weak hearted as me! but maybe don't watch it at night). strangers from hell is also horror and such...never got into that one, it creeped me out too much, and it's a little too bleak, but it might be your cup of tea.
now for mystery...i watch a lot of crime/thriller dramas, they're like my number one genre. mouse is a really good one, about serial killer genes...it's a drama i really can't explain. you kind of just have to watch it. fair warning, if you're not good at keeping up with plots, it might not be the drama for you, because it's really long winded. still, it has a lot of complexity and threads to pull that are fun for those who like to work stuff out as they watch. inspector koo is a more light hearted version of it (mouse is like 20 eps long and they are all long, but inspector koo is only 12); it's about a female former-detective who teams up with her insurance agent friend to catch a female serial killer. my third rec for this is beyond evil, about a seoul detective who joins a small town force to investigate this elder detective who was framed for the murder of his twin sister twenty years ago (but never charged). the first six episodes had a good amount of second hand embarrassment, but it's actually insanely good. the filmography is good, the acting is great, and the characters are very well rounded.
those are all that i'll rec today...i've been meaning to put together a list, but it's sitting in my drafts still and will probably spend eternity there. still, feel free to message me!
[ send me drama asks or ask for recs! ]

hiii hanyi!! ive tried writing this like 5 times idk if you got the other ones bc they wouldn't send if you did ignore them XD
I'm your secret santa from ccnet! this ask is gonna be all over the place because im too excited about this event, we have a few things in common!
first of all your header is beautiful!! did you see the jjk vol 0 trailer?? whos your fav jjk character?? (im obsessed with nanami rn)
do you read manga or just watch anime or both?
i just finished tokyo revengers yesterday and i cried! i loved it! who are your favs from the manji gang? i love baji and chifuyu (little bebe)!
kmy season 2 is coming soon are you ready?? IM NOT 😭 who are your favs from kmy??
also what are your fav colors? do you have any anime or film recs for me? what kind of music do you listen to?
ok thats all for now if you watch kmy season 2 as it comes out we can scream about that together sdkfjks as the event nears XD. The more asks i send i'll end them with this emoji 🎄 so you know its me :))
have a nice day love <3
omg helluu!!! alkslkdf this is the first ask I'm getting from you I guess tumblr ate the previous ones up (`皿´#)
(your excitement is rubbing off on me omg)
thankyoooooo~ (*/▽\*) yes I did (see the jjk vol 0 trailer)!!! I like gojo and maki and nanami (*tsudaken*) as well hehe but cough yeah full disclosure (and related to your next question) I'm responding solely based on where the anime is up till currently because I very rarely read manga (I have a Very Bad track record of keeping up with any form of reading material that isn't complete yet and I can't binge at one go ▓▒░(°◡°)░▒▓ the only manga I miraculously managed to finish was kny ahahahaha)
omg yes season 2 tokrev when hello that cliffhanger _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):_ (I'm assuming - again... haven't read the manga... - he will go back in time again and prevent chifuyu's death...?) I like a lot of characters there but baji has a special place (╥ω╥) and that one episode for chifuyu and baji's past???? I broke (chifuyu's hair back then tho)
one of my biggest regrets is that I didn't watch kny mugen train in the cinemas because when I finally watched it at home with my headphones the audio was so damn good and I was literal TEARS (mostly because it was so painful to watch but yes also good audio) the experience would've been so much more impactful surrounded by it in the cinema (。•́︿•̀。) ANYWAY I digress season 2 yess!! (I should probably catch up but I'm procrastinating a little so I can binge since the first few episodes are more or less mugen train again oop) but omg so hyped for the entertainment district arc it's gonna be UZUI TENGEN TIME. I like giyu, kocho, and akaza - the one that really ripped me to shreds when I was reading the manga was akaza aha (ง ื▿ ื)ว (also I probably have yelled enough about it in the tags before but ishida akira as akaza is 💯💯💯💯💯)
I like red, black, and white! especially red and black when matched together it's like gothic / evil character / gonna raise hell vibes haahaha (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄) what genres of anime/ shows in general do you like? other (comparably) less known anime I really enjoyed are charlotte, shiki, and noblesse (speaking of which I should really get about finishing the webtoon since it's long been completed... refer to previous point of having a Very Bad track record on keeping up with regular releases) but I don't know if they're less known maybe because they're older and/ or smaller releases... (^^#)
the music I listen to... is a mess (ノ*°▽°*) I usually switch from anime soundtracks to kdrama soundtracks to cdrama soundtracks + random chinese songs to random english songs... the one band whose songs I like... considerably more than others is imagine dragons? but even so I don't follow their news religiously so I don't know if I can be considered a huge fan... (I only went to one concert of theirs hah but then again I rarely went to concerts even pre-covid...)
okay I swear I'll start watching kny season 2 soon I also need to catch up on 2 manhuas I started reading but have been procrastinating on aslkdlflk (ง ื▿ ื)ว
ok this ended up being very rambly and long-winded (bad habit hah) have a nice day/ evening too!

Hi! So, I’ve just recently gotten into K-Dramas, and... I have a small issue, and that is though I LOVE them in the beginning, by the end they always disappoint me? Like, they start lighthearted and fun, and then by the end suddenly everyone’s in mortal peril, and I don’t care? Or they start all fantasy, and then it’s all about the romance in the end? So... Could you possibly recommend me ones that are good, or tone consistent, throughout? Please?
Hi! Thanks for dropping by for recs. These are some of my favorite asks. I just love going back through my watch list and finding dramas that fit a given criteria. It gets more fun the more dramas I've seen.
The thing about Kdramas that makes them a uniquely sticky beast is that many of them are live-shot week to week, at least for part of their run, and often the scripts are not fully written before filming begins. Popular Kdramas will also occasionally receive extensions which can cause further pacing and plot issues and (sometimes) cause a story to sputter out entirely. With the increasing prevalence of entirely preproduced dramas there's been an increase in overall drama quality and consistency in past years. That being said, Kdramas are still a decidedly mixed bag in terms of overall production quality. So it pays to either drop things with extreme prejudice if you stop enjoying them and watch widely, or to have a good drama filter friend (like me!) to give you vetted recs. As a genre a lot of the more "classic" feeling dramas have a tendency to start really light hearted and then swing super dramatic in the latter half. That's something I occasionally like, but lucky for you not all dramas are like that!
Your ask doesn't really tell me what genre of Kdrama most appeals to you, so I went through my list and tried to find you wide a variety of dramas that I think of as being well-paced and tonally consistent throughout. I've also tried to limit myself to dramas that I rated highly on MDL, although my primary criteria was "good and tonally consistent" so this list of dramas is kinda all over the map. But then, so are my tastes. Also, I kinda got the impression from your ask that you're not a fan of the uber-melodramatic side of kdramas and you want something a little more restrained and less soapy, so I tried to steer away from those more makjang dramas but did not entirely succeed, lol. I gave a couple sentences of description so you can more readily narrow down what you're interested in, and if you would like a more thorough review of the dramas some of these have full reviews on my blog which I went ahead linked where they exist.
Age of Youth: A well written slice-of-life ensemble drama about a group of 5 college age women who end up boarding together. There are a couple moments of high drama/trauma toward the end of the show that might be a turn off. But other than the finale the tone is consistent. 9/10
Arang and the Magistrate: A dark fantasy fusion sageuk with a romance. I included this drama because it does a good job of developing the creepy worldbuilding and fantasy throughout. Though at points it can be a bit slow and the special effects are hella cheesy. 8/10
Argon: A tight, journalism driven suspense drama. Not always my genre but I found it very engaging, and at eight episodes it does not overstay its welcome. 8/10
Be Melodramatic: Another female-centric slice-of-life ensemble drama, though with an emphasis on fourth wall breaking comedy and clever dialogue. Very funny and heartfelt.  8.5/10
Cheese in the Trap: Maybe a controversial inclusion, but I very much enjoyed this drama. A slice-of-life college romance with psychological thriller elements. Some critics felt that the drama focused too heavily on the second male lead in the later half of the story, but YMMV. 8.5/10
Coffee Prince: Classic cross-dressing romance and still probably the best of its kind. A wonderfully nuanced and progressive handling of the subject matter, even after 13 years. Deals with serious subjects but doesn't go too melo with it. 8.5/10
Children of Nobody: My best of 2019, a dark psychological thriller about a child psychiatrist and a police detective who have to confront gray morality while attempting to track down a serial killer who only targets unrepentant child abusers. 9.5/10
Ex-Girlfriend Club: On the lighter side, a friends-to-lovers type romantic comedy about the writer of an autobiographical webtoon who has to figure out a way to get along with a group of his ex-girlfriends to make a movie based on his work. Only 12 episodes. 8.5/10
Go Back Couple: Also only 12 episodes (these shorter dramas tend to be better paced I find) a time-slip drama about a divorced couple who get the chance to relive their twenties and end up realizing they still have feelings for each other. This drama is both very funny and it had me bawling on multiple occasions. 9.5/10
Healer: A favorite of a lot of drama fans, this is an action-focused romance about an awkward soft boy with a secret identity as a highly skilled errand boy to criminals and an intrepid tabloid reporter who is his biggest fan. This drama is pretty tropey, but it's fun and the romance is great. 8.5/10
Hello Monster (aka I Remember You): A police procedural with a background love line about a criminal profiler looking for his lost brother and a detective looking for her father's murderer. One of my personal favorites. 10/10
Hit the Top (aka The Best Hit): A time-slip fish-out-of-water comedy about a 90s pop star who winds up in modern day Seoul and ends up befriending his biological son and meets old friends who his disappearance left in the lurch. 9/10
Incomplete Life (aka Misaeng): A realistic office drama that gave me real world work anxiety, focusing on a failed Go player who winds up an intern at a highly competitive shipping company and has to find a way to earn his keep even without the background and college education of his coworkers. Unbelievably well done ensemble drama. 9/10
Just Between Lovers: A romantic melodrama about two people whose lives were irrevocably changed by a tragic mall collapse that nearly killed them as children, meeting again as adults and finding comfort and healing in each other. A rough sit at times, but a wonderful love story with incredible acting. 9/10
Just Dance: High school, slice-of-life, drama about a dance club in a technical high school and a group of working class kids who reluctantly become involved in this club and befriend each other. Only 8 episodes (or 16 thirty minute episodes, depending on how you recon it.) 8.5/10
Life on Mars: Remake of the British show of the same name, this is a surreal time-slip police drama, about a forensics expert who gets shot in the head and wakes up in 1988. Or does he? He could also be dying on an operating table. It's hard to tell. Dark, suspenseful and trippy. 9/10
Matrimonial Chaos: An off-beat comedy about two dysfunctional couples who become inescapably mixed up in each others lives. One that's having a hard time getting divorced and another that's having a hard time getting married, and all the messy weird emotions that go along with that. This is another one of those, makes you laugh/makes you cry throughout dramas I have an affinity for. 9/10
Moment of Eighteen: A heartfelt high school drama about a straightforward but awkward loner who is forced to transfer to a new school, immediately earns the ire of a powerful student and experiences first love. Not my usual thing, but very well written with complex and likeable characters. 8/10
Mother: A cold and socially isolated woman becomes a temporary teacher and upon discovering one of her students is being severely abused and neglected, decides to pose as the child's mother and go on the run with her. Like Children of Nobody, this can be a bit of a rough watch because of the subject matter but it is very well done. 9.5/10
My Mister: A healing, human drama about a structural engineer in his 40s and a debt-ridden young woman in her 20s who end up crossing paths and saving each other from a miserable existence. My current all time favorite drama. Cannot say enough good things about it. Practically perfect in every way. 10/10
One Spring Night: A very restrained and naturalistic slow-burn romance about a woman who is about to get married and suddenly begins to question her relationship and a single father who had given up on love who find themselves irresistibly drawn to one another. 9/10
Prison Playbook: An ensemble slice-of-life drama centered on prisoners and correctional officers in their day to day lives. I find the actual het romances in this drama totally useless, but it's a large and talented cast playing a variety of lovable characters. 8/10
Psychopath Diary: Recent fave. A screwball black comedy about a mild mannered pushover who loses his memory and finds a diary that convinces him he's a psychopathic murderer, which gives him a huge boost of confidence from his new found identity, much to the chagrin of those around him and the actual owner of the diary himself. 8.5/10
Queen In Hyun's Man: A drama about a Joseon scholar who time travels to modern day Seoul and meets an actress who just landed a part playing the queen he served in the past. This one might be on the border line of too dramatic or tonally inconsistent, but it's got one of the most pitch perfect finales in Kdramas and the 45 min episodes keep it a snappy watch that doesn't drag or meander too much. 8/10
Reply 1988: A late 80s nostalgia drama about a group of families who all live off the same alley. Lovely family drama, comedy with a variety of romances. Long ass episodes especially later in the run, but I have rewatched the whole thing and I loved every minute of this show. 9.5/10
Save Me: A dark drama about a young woman who finds herself forced into a dangerous cult by her family, and is desperate to escape, and a group of 4 local young men who try to help her. One of the more unique and well done OCN thrillers. 9/10
School 2013: High school ensemble drama that launched a whole bunch of careers. In general I avoid school dramas (I know there have been three on this list so far, but those are like the only three, lol) but this show got me so invested in all these students and teachers. Also the two male leads are so shippable. 9.5/10
Secret Love Affair: A romantic melodrama about a piano prodigy from an underprivileged background who catches the eye of a married older woman and the two fall into a passionate affair. This drama involves cheating (obviously) but it's beautifully filmed and written and the music is to die for. 9.5/10
Signal: This is a supernatural crime thriller and a perennial favorite in the Kdrama community. An imbittered criminal profiler finds an antique police radio which allows him to speak with a police detective 15 years in the past, and uses this to crack cold cases and try to prevent brutal crimes from ever happening. 9/10
Six Flying Dragons: This one is a bit different from the others on the list, first of all because it's a more traditional historical drama, and secondly because it 50 episodes long. But it is so, so very good. And if you're looking for overall consistency in terms of storytelling and tone this drama has it in spades. 9/10
SKY Castle: A unique melodrama about a group of affluent competitive mothers who will go to any lengths to get they're children into the best medical schools, and a mysterious school coordinator with shady motives who gets brought in as a ringer to give them an edge. This show is kind of hard to sell but very entertaining and watchable. 7.5/10
Stranger (aka Secret Forest): The story of a stalwart prosecutor who, due to a childhood trauma is unable to feel the full spectrum of emotions, works with a bighearted police detective to root out corruption around a series of murders. This one’s rather cerebral and requires your full attention but the leads are amazing and there's a second season coming out this year I'm very much looking forward to! 9/10
The Nokdu Flower: Another sageuk drama about the latter years of the Joseon Dynasty surrounding three people who fall on different sides during the Donghak Peasant rebellion. Incredibly well written and involving historical drama. If you're not sure you're ready to commit to something like Six Flying Dragons, I think this would be another good entry point into the genre. The acting is amazing. 9/10
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes: A romantic melodrama and psychological thriller about a dangerous enigmatic young man on the cusp of becoming either a human being or a monster. He becomes involved in a fraught relationship with the sister of a police detective at the same time her protective older brother begins to focus on him as the prime suspect for a murder. High key moody and tragic if you're into that kind of thing (I am). 9/10
Touch Your Heart: On the complete other end of the drama spectrum, this show is pure unadulterated fluff, which managed to keep me giggling and swooning throughout the run, even though it's typically not my thing. An actress joins a law office as research for a role and falls for the ace attorney she's assisting. 8.5/10
WATCHER: Another OCN thriller about three different people with shady motivations who are connected to the same murder case and become involve in a corruption task force looking into dirty cops. One of those "trust nobody, everyone's a suspect" dramas with lovely complex characters and a fully engaging plot. 8.5/10
Sorry that got so out of hand! This is what happens when you don't give me a little more direction I guess. These are all dramas I quite enjoyed and I believe you will find something in there that will suit your fancy. This is a pretty accurate cross section of my tastes.
Happy watching!

I tried to read the Ikemen series you post about but they aren't really for me. Do you have any other VN recommendations for wlm?
Not everything can be for everyone, or this place would get boring really fast. Here's some recs, I'm gonna try to keep these more Lovestruck-type VNs, as I'm gonna guess the whole gacha/challenges thing might be what caused the problem (so don't expect Obey Me! to be on this list)
Choices - I am hearing some good things have been coming from Choices lately. if you have VIP, you have access to a zombie game which I've heard is fun.
Fictif - My go to story there is Last Legacy, where you can pick Felix, a sweet, emo necromancer or Sage, a disastrous catboy. I've heard the other stories there like Roadkill and Two Against the World are great too.
Moments - Now we're straying a little bit. I have not played this in months, but I was ADDICTED to the Detroit Underground series (it's based on the Nora Jacobs novel series and was amazing!). Just about everything I read there was lots of fun. Why don't I play it anymore? I spent entirely too much money on it, and once I read the stories I liked, there was no real point in rereading.
Lovelink and MeChat - Do you have like 5 minutes to kill every few days and are up for some complete nonsense? Then these games are great. Don't expect amazing writing, or men dressed normally. My biggest gripe with Lovelink is the men just go *poof* and you don't see them again for like a year. And MeChat? Oh boy. Wanna romance an actual dog? That's the kind of nonsense you find there. But there was a really, really hot demon with long hair, he made everything worth it.
Is It Love? - I really like this app, it's a lot like Lovestruck in that there are series with different LIs. However, you only get a very short amount of reading time per day and that can be absolutely frustrating. If you do read this, I recommend Colin (he was my Sevastian look-alike on there).
Webtoons - not an actual VN, but I toss this out to anyone who asks me about VNs. There's some great stuff on there, my favorite was Midnight Poppyland (Tora is another one with long, dark hair).
Did I miss any? If anyone else has any suggestions for anon, please feel free to add to this list.

Apathy
Tumblr media
This post is by Christine Shi, who will be a freshman at Cornell University next year and has no idea what she's going to study (and that's probably ok for now at least)! She is confused 24/7 and has no idea what she's doing. Likes playing, listening to, and making music, loves Minecraft and pewdiepie the most right now but has had every single phase imaginable (anime, kpop, webtoons, the office, etc) so is down to talk and/or laugh and/or sing about anything. But yeah she's a good listener and an okay friend and very approachable :))
“The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.” -- Elie Wiesel
The biggest obstacle to my faith is and has always been apathy.
Like many people, I experience seasons of spiritual highs and lows, and I’ve always felt like a passive receiver of them rather than someone in control. I think this ebb and flow of my faith has taught me to think that my faith is an external factor that isn’t under my control, rather than something I can and should actively work on, nurturing a state of apathy. Being passive and carefree has its advantages when it comes to serving others, but I think those sides of my personality have also led me more quickly into apathy when I’m not satisfied or when something goes wrong.
There were times in high school when I lost any motivation to spend time with God at all. It started small, but the longer I kept skipping days for prayer and devotions to play games or watch a show, the more jaded I became to it. I definitely noticed the impact it had on my spiritual health, and my emotional health as well, but I was in apathy so deep that I felt powerless. During these seasons of apathy, I found myself unable to serve or attempt to live a Christian example, as I felt so distant from God that it didn’t really make any sense to do so. Many times, I only fulfilled my basic responsibilities on worship team, often missed deadlines, and felt extremely unprepared and uncomfortable when a LYTE Team meeting came up and I had to share what I had been doing that past month. In addition, I didn’t find any joy in worship or prayer anymore, and that made it even harder to want to get back my old faith.
These dry seasons are not necessarily caused by but definitely correlated with missing church for a long time, as going to church, LYTE Team meetings, and other church activities always bring me back to God and spark a motivation to make things better in my life. I really thank God for all the moments when I was so apathetic but he brought me out of it and enabled me to feel Him again. From dealing with multiple of these long droughts, I’ve learned to seize the little bits of desire to change that I get to start myself on the path back.
Some of the practices that have helped me the most with apathy are fasting and journaling. Often when I continuously skip spending time with God, it’s because of playing games (couldn’t write this without talking about Minecraft or Minesweeper or Wordscapes), watching shows (shameless plug, Parks and Rec is the best show ever), reading Webtoons (asdfghjk; ask me for recs i have so many good ones), etc. Fasting from these superficial sources of happiness has given me a sense of agency over my own life. I’m really grateful to God for the strides I’ve made--I haven’t watched any shows since Lent 2019 started, I don’t play Minesweeper or Wordscapes anymore, and I don’t read Webtoons nearly as often.
Journaling also helps me since it gives me a clear space to reflect truthfully about what life has been like. Without journaling or any quiet thought in general, my life would be totally nebulous and hazy. By just writing and following my stream of consciousness, I can come to notice behaviors or attitudes I’ve had that aren’t good and think of tangible steps to correct them, and I can also realize the good things that God has brought to pass and how he’s been working in my life. It’s a truly empowering experience.
I used to feel hopeless in the face of apathy, and even hate myself for it, but now I think I’ve changed. As I’ve grown older and gone through tests of faith and doubts, I understand on a much deeper level how much I really need God; how meaningless everything would be without God. And now that I really understand this, I’m able to see my seasons of drifting as temporary, something that is caused by sin but can be fought with God’s grace, and I have faith that I can get through them and I am still loved despite them.
And after all, these setbacks to my faith don’t set me back all the way to the point before I started going down. As I heard once from an older LYFer at a LYF Retreat I attended back in middle school, you may feel like you’re not getting anywhere, but you never end back up in the same place where you started, and every experience you have puts you in a general forward trend. I’m certain that I’ll experience many more seasons of dryness and distance in my life, but as long as I keep trying to battle apathy and grasping those little mustard seeds of desire that God graciously gives me, I’m confident that God will keep me from drifting away.
