What I'm Reading

Over the weekend, my husband got me a copy of Condensed Chaos by Phil Hine. I've been wanting to read this one for a couple of months now, but just hadn't gotten around to it. I always hold out hopes of getting the actual book.... even though I always read everything digitally. I don't have anything against physical books. I love books! I've been a bibliophile from the age of 10 (ish - I'm now 47). But now that we're in an age where everything is available online, it's just more convenient. But I miss the feel of books from time to time, so I delude myself into thinking I'll get the physical book and rekindle a little library.... forgetting that I don't really have a dedicated space for that. Maybe someday.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to reading this because it's hard to find good information on chaos magick without investing money in a poor regurgitation of the same informative you can find online. Authors looking to make a bit of money on selling "the basics".... that are barely the basics. I want something beyond sigil making, thank you. I think I have that one down. Yes, sigils are a big part of chaos magick, but give me something more. Tell me about servitors and egregores. Tell me other ways I can get the most out of chaos magick! Chaos magick is a fairly new magick, popularized in the 1970's by Peter Carroll, so it's not like there's this wealth of knowledge spanning back centuries in it. And in truth, each Chaote's practice is very different from another, so what worked for one may not work for another, and even if it did and became a concrete system, it would, ironically, no longer be chaos magick.

When I started practicing a few years ago, I started with kitchen witchcraft. I had always been drawn to witchcraftin general, but because of my past I didn't dare pursue. After leaving that situation and spending years healing, I finally embraced it and cooking was something familiar and that I enjoyed. Very shortly after, I found sigils.... and what felt right. I consider myself an eclectic chaos witch because there are things from other systems of magick that speak to me. I love a good spell jar and candle magick has this romanticized feel to it. You can't deny the healing of herbs and crystals resonate with me. Yes to tarot and spirits and ancestors. But the foundations of chaos magick spoke to my soul. I always knew that an organized system of magick, such as Wicca wouldn't work for me. I had just spent years healing from the traumas of organized religion and rebuilding my beliefs from the ground up. I am most definitely agnostic, yet believe there is a universal power out there.... whatever it may be. And while I don't believe in dieties, I believe in the power/energy of dieties. And I have the deepest respect for every path.

So much just fit. And, after spending a couple of years finding information that barely scratches the surface, I'm ready to dive in feet first. I've looked at this-that-and-the-other and nothing feels like chaos magick. Big rituals with flowing words aren't for me. Let me work with the nuts and bolts of it. Let me figure out how it works for today, and tomorrow will have its own method.

Maternal Dragon Instinct and Baby Fever

Has anyone else who is otherkin got like baby fever, but only for babies of your kintype species? I have been completely 100% dead set on not having kids my entire life. I don't want to bring a living being of any kind into this chaotic world and I certainly don't want to raise a human child. Nothing about it sounds remotely appealing to me. But suddenly, I dearly want to be pregnant with dragon eggs and shower tiny baby hatchlings with all of my draconic, motherly love. There's really nothing I can do because I'm stuck on Earth where there are no physical dragons and in a human body that doesn't have the hardware to carry offspring anyway.
