The Silver Kami
Do you believe in fate/destiny? When the river of fate bends, who shapes its course? A timeless visitor and a wise monk share tea in a temple where destiny whispers through drifting snow. “Do you believe in fate?” The question hung in the air like incense smoke, curling around the shoji walls of the mountain temple. Snow drifted outside, falling in slow, deliberate spirals, as if the heavens…

Another comic i couldn't fit in my last post, the context is the moment between MF and SM after her cocoon was torn apart and all those intruders were dealt with. Smilk can't blame her for her fury but also can't understand her hollow gaze in the aftermath. That woman with volition who granted wishes now lays in silk sheets, desires to return to flour

How would mystical mickey/oswald react if he ever got stuck in one place? like bound to something with magic and would not be able to walk away from it?
There is no reason why im asking that question i swear
(Hmmmm a lil suspicious but okayy 👀)
Well I’m sure if this’ll make sense but I’ll try my best to explain it (cause I am a little confused on this question aha…😅)
If both brothers were to get lost or stuck in some weird magic part of the world they live in, Oswald would most likely walk away from that situation (since he’s more experienced with magic and thanks to his luck), even though he might get hurt in that process of course (but I think he’d mostly be more worried for Mickey than his own safety).
Mickey on the other hand… welll…
…it’s a 50-50 chance, he is strong by physical strength when it comes to his paintbrush, but magic? No. (Sometimes however he cannot rely on his paintbrush and may get into situations with the magic/creatures that stumble upon him) he’d get lost, confused and alone (and he doesn’t really like being alone for a very long time). To the point he just, lose control.
Here, have some sketches of them having minor suffering :)

“What kind of present do you want?” Unknown leans down to purr into your ear, satisfied with the shudder that this gesture elicits from you.
He’s hoping that you’ll request something he can easily procure. Unknown did not actually get you anything, after all— he just wrapped up a bunch of empty boxes, figuring that these would add to the Yuletide ambiance of the intelligence room. The aesthetics of his plan were significantly more important to him than its mechanics.
“Um…” You seem taken aback by the question, as though you’d never imagined that you’d have to contend with it. Unknown is somewhat envious of your acting skills. They’ll make you a useful asset to the Mint Eye, at least. He’s already thinking about where he’s going to deploy you in his efforts to achieve his revenge. “What’s in the boxes?”
“Nothing,” says Unknown, truthfully. Now that you’re already here, there’s no need to lie to you. If you get disagreeable, Unknown can just cleanse you, hassle though it would be to drag you to the basement and carry out the ceremony on such short notice. Should he make you aware of that premise? Maybe you’d listen better if you knew the possible consequences of disobedience.
“They’re empty?” Not that you’re behaving badly in the first place. Is it better to allow you to retain your rosy-eyed view of the Mint Eye for the time being?
Unknown has never been adept at navigating the early stages of a believer’s journey to salvation. If he ever underwent them, personally, the memory is entirely lost by now. Besides, it doesn’t really matter— he chose you because he knew you would be loyal to him in the end. “Mhm.”
“Are they at least, like, nice empty boxes?” You ask, surprisingly cheerful in this situation. But, then, of course you would be cheerful— you have no idea what Unknown is capable of. You were enthusiastic about coming to Magenta, so you never saw the lengths to which Unknown would have been willing to go in order to get you here.
“They’re cardboard,” Unknown answers your question in as few words as possible. “What kind of gift do you want?” Maybe repeating his initial inquiry will remind you of the purpose for this conversation.
“Well, the wrapping paper is cute,” you lie, ignoring the question altogether. Unknown can tell that you’re lying because he knows he used plain, solid-colored wrapping paper on each present and stuck cheap red bows onto the tops of them at the last minute. “So we can just use these.”
Unknown clicks his tongue. “Why are you holding yourself back? You’re in paradise now, cutie. You don’t have to worry about being too greedy. Why don't you tell me what you want?”
You bite your lip again. “Well,” you muse, “Um…” God, you really weren’t acting, were you? You actually have no idea what you want. Has nobody ever asked you such a question directly? Or are you doubting the capacity of the Mint Eye to actually fulfil your wishes? Maybe you believe that Unknown is leading you into a trap, and you’re trying to be careful what you wish for. “What’s the ice cream situation like at this joint?”
Just for fun, Unknown pretends not to understand your awkward turn of phrase. Perhaps that’s a bit cruel of him, but Unknown could not care less. Cruelty has never been frowned upon at Magenta, and besides, you’ll get your ice cream eventually, once he’s done messing with you. “What are you saying?” He barks.
“Um, do you have some ice cream?” You make an attempt. “And if so, what flavor? And if it’s a good flavor, can I have some? Please?”
All good questions. Unknown always wanted to bring you to Magenta, and you’ve only confirmed his intuition. He’s growing to like you more and more. “Let’s go find out.” Needless to say, he has no intention of ever letting you go.

𝄞⨾𓍢ִ໋ Fictional debate
Have you ever played Mystic Messenger..? I don't normally play otome games but this one is dear to my heart. I think the media that we consume also abide by the rule of fate. It's a large part of what shapes us after all.
I've never played the normal route before. I jumped straight into Deep Story because younger me fell in love with 707s' antics. "In pursuit of lore" she says. After that I went on Jumin's route. Then Ray/Saeran and lastly V. For the longest time I thought that my favorites alternated between V, Jumin & Saeran. In my head V's Good Ending was the only way to solve the crisis & defeat Mint Eye.
Though, recently my mind has changed. The more I think about it, realistically I have the best connection with Zen. A sentimental man with passion & dedication to his art; someone humorous and humble.. and he's the only one with a psychic feel to him. I don't think I can ever be with a man that doesn't have that curiosity and sensitivity to the universe. We would be too far apart in every step we take.
It seems ridiculous to have an entire monologue dedicated to which fictional character I'd go out with, but it's a true story and I am not one to deny that.
Though character wise, I've always seen myself in Rika. The past version of me that is. I wonder how a figment of the past can predict the future but still remain in the past afterwards..?
I have lots of questions for God, but I don't know if I'll ever receive an answer.
Being human is truly bizarre.

Echoes of Christmas Present: Exploring a Spiritualist Gathering
The Christmas evening gathering in a Middlesbrough sitting room, 71 years ago, was a convergence of the ordinary and the extraordinary. This spiritualist Circle, armed with an early tape recorder, sought to capture evidence of the paranormal. The resulting BBC Radio 4 broadcast, “Christmas Spirits,” is a nuanced exploration of the human experience, delving into the intricacies of spiritualism, authenticity, and the profound impact of transcending mortality.
The broadcast’s narrative is woven around inexplicable phenomena: tangible spirit forms, ectoplasmic manifestations, and the materialization of objects from the spirit world. These events, witnessed by a tight-knit group, including newcomers whose initial skepticism gave way to astonishment, challenge conventional understanding. The descriptions of interactions with the deceased, from the warmth of a handshake to the vibrant lights orchestrated by a young spirit, paint a vivid picture of a realm where the living and the dead coexist. However, it is the emotional resonance of these encounters, rather than their inexplicability, that forms the heart of the story.
The participants’ integrity is subtly yet effectively underscored, implying that these events were not staged for external validation but were an integral part of their spiritual journey. The involvement of a surgeon, whose witnessing of these phenomena led to his membership in the Circle, adds a layer of credibility, highlighting the difficulty of dismissing these events as mere fantasy or deception. Expert analysis further reinforces the genuineness of the experiences, emphasizing the improbability of fraud given the setting and nature of the occurrences. This thoughtful presentation of evidence invites listeners to approach the subject with an open mind, rather than merely presenting a series of unexplained events.
The true profundity of the broadcast lies in its exploration of the human need for connection with what lies beyond mortality. The Circle’s interactions with the spirit world serve as a poignant reminder of the enduring bonds between loved ones, transcending the physical realm. The therapeutic value of such connections is illustrated through the story of a young spirit seeking to comfort his grieving parents, offering solace to those grappling with loss. This aspect of the broadcast humanizes the spiritualist movement, portraying it as a quest for healing and reassurance, rather than merely a pursuit of the unknown.
The production’s use of archival recordings interwoven with contemporary reflections creates a rich tapestry, allowing for a multifaceted engagement with the material. This narrative approach honors the historical context while underscoring the timeless relevance of the events, inviting reflection on the implications of such phenomena on one’s understanding of mortality and the afterlife.
The broadcast presents a complex, deeply human story, one that challenges listeners to consider the possibility of realms beyond our mundane reality. More profoundly, it highlights the universal quest for connection and the solace derived from believing in a continuum of life beyond death, leaving an indelible mark on those who engage with it.
Christmas Spirits (Chris Eldon Lee, Culture Wise, BBC Radio 4, December 2003)

While the broadcast’s narrative masterfully weaves together the threads of the unknown and the human experience, Ann Harrison’s talk serves as a poignant case in point, illustrating the very quest for connection and solace beyond mortality that the broadcast so eloquently highlights. Her personal journey into the spiritual realm offers a powerful, real-life manifestation of the universal themes that resonate throughout the broadcast.
Ann’s talk offers a captivating exploration of the spiritual realm, seamlessly intertwining personal narrative with the legacy of her late partner, Tom Harrison, a renowned figure in the spiritualist movement. The catalyst for her journey into mediumship, the passing of her first husband in 1990, sets a poignant tone, underscoring the emotional depth that often accompanies the pursuit of spiritual connection.
As Ann delves into Tom’s family history, marked by a lineage of mediumship and guided by the influential spirit, Stuart Alexander, the narrative is enriched with a sense of tradition and continuity. Notably, the family’s experiences with materializations and trumpet communications serve as a testament to the extraordinary capabilities of spirits in physical mediumship séances. For instance, the detailed account of a séance in 1997, where a plastic cable tie was seemingly passed through Ann’s arm without harm, not only astonishes but also prompts a deeper inquiry into the mechanics of such phenomena.
The concept of “matter through matter” and the non-solidity of objects and humans at a vibrational level, as explained by Ann, provides a fascinating, albeit abstract, framework for understanding these events. This is further illuminated by the practical challenges of conducting séances, such as the energy-intensive nature of materializing detailed clothing. The strategic use of light, for instance, is highlighted as crucial for verifying authenticity, showcasing the delicate balance between the spiritual and the tangible. By focusing on these intricacies, Ann’s presentation transcends mere anecdotal storytelling, offering instead a nuanced exploration of physical mediumship’s complexities.
The enduring legacy of Tom Harrison and his family is skillfully woven throughout the narrative, with references to his work serving as a bridge between Ann’s personal experiences and the broader spiritualist context. This not only honors Tom’s memory but also underscores the lasting appeal of spiritual gatherings for those seeking connection with the afterlife. The popularity of Tom’s circle, evidenced by a “waiting list,” speaks to a profound human desire for transcendence, a desire that Ann’s presentation both acknowledges and explores.
Beyond its educational value, Ann’s talk sparks a deeper question: what lies beyond our tangible world? In exploring this, we may discover that the true power of spiritual inquiry lies not in the answers, but in the transformative journey of seeking itself.

and for a moment all was soft and quiet

(Close-ups and a thumbnail sketch and a process pic)
Wanted to sketch and paint something of what I imagine a pocket dimension Hypno can access through his hat and jacket looks like
This is where he keeps his rabbits and doves in my headcanon :]
Drew some New Zealand plants including: pōhutukawa trees, a kauri tree, and rārahu (ferns). There’s also bioluminescent mushrooms (not based on a specific species).
There’s stars reflected in the water but not in the sky. The water doesn’t always reflect what is visible. It can reflect the past or inner realities or illusions. Might want to play around with that idea if I draw this place again.
(Keep reading for some ramblings about Hypno’s powers)
some headcanons, mostly about Hypno's powers
-- Hypno can use his mystic powers to recreate any magic trick from his old routines. Basically anything he could do with magic tricks (that he still remembers how to do), he can now do for real and sometimes at a grander scale. (For example: he could make small animals and objects disappear into his hats, now he can make people and buildings disappear into his hats and they would end up in his pocket dimension.) He could also add more to his repertoire if he learns how to do the magic trick practically first.
Judging by what I’ve seen in the show and what he says he can do, Hypno can: summon doves, rabbits, razor rings, wands that turn into knives?, and cards; transform physical objects into flowers; make objects and people disappear into his hats; presumably saw people in half and put them back together again; hypnotize people to follow a command; and teleport (going to headcanon that it’s just for short distances though.)
--It would be fun to add: never-ending rainbow handkerchiefs and maybe coins from behind people’s ears, and some more card tricks like cards teleporting through things (also I really like Ollie’s idea that he uses cards as shields!) Maybe he can make people and objects float and predict what people write down or draw in a specific notebook too.
--The words he uses aren’t magic (except for when he had Houdini’s journals that is), they just help him focus and are a habit. Of course it’s for show too.
--The fashion montage illusion seems like something different than his usual powers. My headcanon is that it was the result of a spell he found instructions for (among mystic objects from the store Warren got that crystal from), and he created it using some water from the pocket dimension. However, after using the spell, and after the whole Battle Nexus New York happened, he returned to the pocket dimensions to find one of the islands (not one pictured above) was charred and damaged. He assumed that taking something from the pocket dimension to use in the spell had caused the destruction and decides to not try that again. He decides to stick with the abilities that come naturally to his mystic power. (I’m going with the idea that casting spells/manipulating magic comes with some kind of terrible cost or danger in the ROTTMNT universe. For example, Draxum’s spell taking them into Splinter’s mind was potentially dangerous.)
[I wanted to think about the limits to Hypno’s powers (since he really does seem to be potentially overpowered) so that's part of why I'm coming up with the headcanons that he has to know how to do the trick practically, and that he won't create a spell like the fashion montage illusion again (with him not wanting to risk damaging the pocket dimension again.) Of course, in the show what seems to keep him from being too overpowered and too much of a threat to the turtles is that he often gets his magic turned against him and isn't as malicious and focused as some of the other villains.]
Edit: (wanted to add another thought) I’m not sure who came up with this, but I’ve heard a theory that part of the reason why Mikey is so powerful with his mystic abilities is because he is open with his emotions. Mystic powers do seem to be connected to emotions in the show. What if that’s part of the reason Hypno is so powerful too? He does seem to be pretty open with his emotions (thinks back to when I was looking through screen shots to redraw, such a wide range of expressions: rage and terror and confusion and grief and guilt and joy etc. I mean what happened in Warren and Hypno Sitting in a Tree would be an emotional roller coaster for sure.)
