Yk I'm sure I've made this sentiment before many, many times but I do think that Milgram and the way it handles Mikoto is indicative of the authors knowing what's going on, but the characters not. And not like in a general "they don't know what's going to happen next" sorta way, I think and have thought since before Double dropped, that the milgram writers know how to write a compelling character with DID but the characters themselves don't know how to handle it. Because it's obvious Mikoto doesn't know how, Kotoko is just partially using her knowledge to get her foot through the door with Es (as of rn, anyway) and Es well. Es only knows what they can read in textbooks and have seen in Milgram. And even then, Es has been shown to get things wrong i.e. Haiti. So I'm more than certain that at the very least the fraction of info we have been shown is in no way indicative of an authorial ignorance towards mental illness. Plus seeing how intimately they portray the distress one does feel upon being a system in such a specific phase of discovery implies at least a level of understanding and compassion that I wouldn't necessarily say is found in a lot of less kind interpretations of characters with "multiple personalities" but like that part is more personal interpretation so yk. lol

MythBusters should have had a JoJo episode

I’ve been thinking a lot about how unlikely it is Echo ever even met any of Fives’ friends in the 501st before the citadel. In reality, the events between Rishi and the attack on Kamino were not that far apart. In the series they’re several seasons apart, but the destruction of Rishi is one of the things that prompted the Republic to move towards defense of Kamino because they knew separatist forces had passed through. It was after this battle that Echo and Fives were informed of their ARC training. And on Umbara we learn that Fives hadn’t met Hardcase before even though Hardcase was already a part of the 501st who hung around with Jesse and Kix. If Fives hadn’t known them before Umbara, it’s unlikely that the domino duo stayed around the 501st after completing their training. Anything they did do with the 501st was probably closer to interacting directly with Rex than working with individuals from the battalion/company (it’s unclear to me what exactly the 501st is since I’ve heard it called both). So, Echo ever having known Jesse or Hardcase is extremely unlikely. Kix is a little more possible, but still unlikely.

This really has been making me think of Kix’s impression of Echo. Like if Kix had been the first medical personnel to examine Echo after being saved from Skako Minor, I can’t stop thinking about what he’s feeling meeting him. Undoubtedly Fives would have talked so much about him, and he’s someone who holds a special place in Kix’s heart after the chips. Rex doesn’t really confide in anyone other than Cody and Ahsoka. But Rex may have shown high regard for Echo if/whenever he’s brought up in conversation. I can’t help but imagine that Echo had become this diligent, honorable, and intelligent myth of a man among the people who knew Fives. And to Kix especially after Fives having such an impact on his life. So when Kix actually meets Echo there’s just so many conflicting thoughts/feelings of “this is him” and “is this real?” and “he’s changed so much from those old holos” and “he’s just the same as how they described.” Finally, theres this ping of guilt that Fives died not knowing his best friend was alive, and Echo is going to hear so many bad and untrue things about him.

Kix meets this fabled man who’s been thought to be dead, and he feels guilty. What does he do? Does he suppress his feelings and keep quiet? Or does he pull Echo aside and say to him that no matter what they tell him about Fives, he was right/they’re wrong? Of course he couldn’t reveal anything specific, but would he feel that need to let the poor man know his brother was not a traitor?

I haven’t even touched how Kix’s background as a medic could affect how guilty and distressed he may have felt seeing a man so highly respected in such a terrible condition.

I have a question AGAIN! (I feel like I flit about your inbox a lot, mb) But lately I've been,, thinking of something. I'm into Greek myth and I know you're decently familiar with it, and there's just been something bothering me.

I don't remember the last time I saw an Ares who wasn't dark-skinned or Black/Black-coded. In theory, I think it's fine to make mythological characters look like whatever, but it sort of bugs me. I feel like a LOT of artists make him Black, and I just can't help but see the correlation between the god of war who has a somewhat adulterous relationship with the goddess of love and lust, being depicted as a Black man, when Black men are already stereotyped as violent, thuggish and over sexualised.

But when I consider this, I also feel like Black Ares is somewhat embedded in the artist community, to the point in my head it would almost feel like whitewashing if i happened to draw him and NOT make him Black, although the connotations Black Ares carries makes me uncomfortable. And there are probably Black artists out there who like Ares and want him to look like them! ig it's sort of just a weird conundrum, where I kind of wanted to hear mods opinion.

I will admit that my view of Greek Classics fan spaces is heavily biased by my continuing disgust for their rampant antiblackness and the different forms it has taken (dare I say, like a hydra), and I very rarely willingly choose to jump in to see creations- so if it reaches me, it reaches me (literally every time I share a Good Piece, my for you gets filled with Mediocre to Racist pieces). So I cannot say that I've always seen Ares as Black as a pattern, bc I don't see his art much at all.

HOWEVER, you are not wrong in your concerns! Remember, while there is nothing wrong with having a Black character be "problematic", the reasons WHY people are more comfortable choosing certain problematic depictions to "allow" Black characters to be, versus others, can make quite plain what types of messages people either believe, or are willing to ignore and let slide.

Why is it easier for you to see this character as Black, versus the others? Did you think about what you were doing, with this depiction? Did you add any depth to it; were you trying to say something about this, were you trying to subvert something (and failed)? Because, if we go with that depiction of Ares (of the bad things) there are SO many symbolic reasons him being white works very well.

Now I've been in that space and... Well, as a Black creator, it is clear they aren't gonna listen to my ass, and I'm not trying to Matrix dodge all those inane bullets from people determined to enjoy their racism. Nonetheless, it's worth a shot! Try seeing what happens if you speak up, if you question.

Also, when you create your Ares pieces, the same thought process applies to you! If you don't want Ares to be Black because of those negative connotations, who do you want to be Black? Why is that better? Is there a way for you to understand his story for him to be Black, without being stereotypical (which, yes, I could also do). The Black artists creating Black Ares have probably thought about this.

Okay tad late (as this month's Coro came out yesterday) but some Oreca Battle report time, with mb alongside some other stuff As per usual, spoilers for some upcoming cards/monsters. Though I think they did shown some of em on twit already?

Main spread+following page. It comes with Wanderer card of Ch1 titular guy that you can cut out from the magazine page itself and use in game

As per usual names tl are more of my own taste, than in-line with official SEA english release (as I can't really access it either)

Chapter 1 seem to be themed around Dragon Palace as its featured Oremon is clearly inspired of turtle from Urashima Taro tale (though it is also has dragon+plesiosaurus in it too) So, 2, 3 and 4 stars of this fella's line! (the 3 one seems to be misprinted in the magazine? as it's lacking said stars indicator)

2 Stars: Acheron (I believe it's from river in Greece of same name? it has connection to Underworld in mythology, and since some variants of Urashima Taro don't state the place he went as Dragon Palace, but as some Otherworld, I guess?)

3 Stars: Archeron (Well, adding "r" for ー is one way to prolong the vowel in otherwise 0 change name)

4 Stars: Guardian Dragon, Archeron EX Move: Breath of Abyss Guardian (for the Wind attribute, at least. Sadly I can't see/make out names of EX Moves for other cards of this line)

The titular guy is named Trito!

2 Stars: Wave Warrior, Trito (clearly from Triton. So both him and his partner pal have Greek myth related names ig) EX Move: Trident of Wave (He pretty much riders it as surfboard...At least in how manga chapter portrayed it. Cute)

3 Stars: Wave Knight, Trito EX Move: Trident of Surge

There's also fella named Jaligator (pebble/ ankle-biter gator heh) and new Demon King, Oloroso (also alco related name) I assume "Ocean Domination" (Turn one of your allies against you for 1 turn) is its EX Move (or just of one of the moves?) name, and for Jaligator it's "Sudden Action" (it re-directs attacks from its allies to itself?) Next month issue will come with Wandered Shirogane card

There's also was poster featuring some new monsters and returning faces for Ch1, alongside Prologue card catalogue! Sadly, the pages resolution aren't that big in digital edition of coro, so I can't make out some kanjis in names here...

You can actually see Oto-Hime Mayori (Or mb Maioli?) in upper left corner. She was mentioned in this month's chapter. As well Gyo, from 1st game, Star 4 evo- Messenger of Dragon Palace, Gyogyo. He served as a bad guy to beat for latest chapter. And was finished by Demon Lord he was serving </3 Because they don't need weaklings

Speaking of. That's a fun-okay design I think? Busker had some eyelashes and this one had long as hell claws/nails <3 But because of that...I kind of unsure about this one's gender? I feel it could go both ways (upd after seeing game clips: bro is a guy) It is dragon again, so it makes me wonder if all Demon Lords of this game gonna be dragons?

I like Trito from what I've seen in this chapter :) He reminds me of Tsunami from IE- (Mecha when there's a funky surfer dude: Hmm getting lots of Tsunami vibes from it) I really adore Acheron also. Absolutely adorable fella. I guess Nagi be teaming up with protags from each chapter for respective arcs? (So I guess each taking about 2-3 months? (so about 3 chapters) Based on how much it takes for game to get new Chapter update) Gren continues to be power-hungry jerk, and Stan just following his lead (he clearly trying to fight the darkness but it ain't going well. Bro got taken underwater to serve new Demon Lord </3 )

S2E7: 3

Case: Bro... I don't even know where to start with this one. Before this stats project, I had seen 3 maybe one (1) time before, because I had never had any cause to repeat the experience. I was, however, pleasantly surprised to find that, while it is still just as terrible as I remember (and perhaps even worse), it is terrible in an entertaining way, so at least I enjoyed myself, even though I have no FUCKING idea what the plot was about. 

But I'll try to summarize it the best I can. The X-Files are reopened, which would be cool, except Scully is still missing, and Mulder is handling it... poorly. He is basically running his own self-imposed Russian sleep experiment, so much so that at one point during the investigation, a detective asks him if he's going to his hotel to get some rest, and this fucking edgelord sort of huffs a laugh and says, "I don't sleep anymore." Okay, Mulder.

But right, I haven't even said what he's investigating, have I? Well, I would say that he is investigating [REDACTED], but apparently this episode is following zombie apocalypse rules, because literally no one will say the word [REDACTED] out loud except for mb one scene where Mulder briefly references "[REDACTED] myths." Please keep in mind Mulder once showed Scully a shitty drawing of Bigfoot with tiddies and called it the Jersey Devil, so the word [REDACTED] must be pretty fucking cursed for him not to accuse anyone of being one outright. 

Anyway, something something, there's a trio of [REDACTED] in Los Angeles who are called the Holy Trinity, and they're committing murders that have a religious undertone, I guess? And then there's this other [REDACTED], Kristen, who isn't a part of the trinity, but is the ex of one of the people in the trinity? I think? Or he's the one who turned her into a [REDACTED] when they were doing kinky bloodsport stuff? Bro idfk. I was so distracted by the Everything™️ about this fucking episode to really pay attention to the story. It's about [REDACTED] but no one says the word [REDACTED], and that's all you really need to know.

An LAPD detective offers Mulder some assistance on the case, and Edgelord Mulder says, "I work alone," causing the detective to question why an FBI agent doesn't have a partner and we see all five stages of grief flash across Mulder's eyes, and by all five, I mean only one, and that's depression; in the ONLY scene I can recall the word [REDACTED] even coming up, Mulder rambles at a crime scene pathologist(?) about how he had thought such creatures didn't exist, and the pathologist says, and I quote, "You are really upsetting me, on several levels," which was really fucking funny and I wish more people reacted to him that way; Mulder meets a hot [REDACTED] who tries to feed him blood, and his only reaction is to grab her wrist and shout "AIDS!"; the hot [REDACTED] has a tragic backstory, but unfortunately the hot actress who plays her is not very good at acting so no one cares; and Mulder has a very sad hookup, which goes up in flames the morning after. I mean that literally, by the way.

Does someone die in the cold open: Yes. Some [REDACTED] kill him with hypodermic needles??

Does Mulder present a slideshow: He is all alone again since Krycek went and did that whole "trying to murder him" thing, so nah. But you can't keep Mulder away from his projector forever. I want to believe they will be together again soon.

Bottom-Tier major villains of various video game franchises

Super Mario: In terms of platformers, Wart. In terms of RPGs, King Olly. In the series as a whole, one of the villains from the sports spin-offs for the Switch. Donkey Kong: Ghastly King. Tiki Tong and Lord Fredrik might just be recycled ideas, but at least they have story presence. Ghastly King comes from a game with no plot or build-up. Legend of Zelda: Onox from Oracle of Seasons. Doesn't get much screentime as his contemporary Veran. And at the end of the day, he's just a hired gun for Twinrova. Metroid: MB from Other M. Either that or Master Brain from Federation Force. Kirby: Dark Nebula from Squeak Squad. Which is even more embarrassing when it possessing Daroach was a harder fight than its true form. Star Fox: Anglar Emperor from Command. General Scales at least had story and presentation down, but no actual boss fight because Rare was rushed to finish the game. Pokémon: Rocket Executive Archer from the Johto games in terms of mainline RPGs. He's only met at the very end of the Team Rocket subplot. As for the multiple spin-off titles, who knows? Fire Emblem: Garon from Fates because I keep hearing those two games were rushed. Njörðr from Heroes could contest him since he remains unfought in his Book. Kid Icarus: Orcos from Of Myths and Monsters. By virtue of not appearing in Uprising to get fleshed out. Wario: Golden Diva from Land 4, since she's never encountered outside of her boss fight. Demon Head from Virtual Boy at least is forced to guide Wario in an amusing hard mode ending. Street Fighter: Holy heck, did Street Fighter V's awful story did Necalli dirty. M. Bison and F.A.N.G insisted on controlling the plot. Crash Bandicoot: The Viscount from Boom Bang. Willie Wumpacheeks from Tag Team Racing at least had an argument if the narrative meant anything. Spyro the Dragon: If it's just the Classic series, Gnasty Gnorc in the original game. If the Skylanders games are included, probably Hektore from the first 3DS game. Jak & Daxter: Gol and Maia Acheron from The Precursor Legacy. Sonic the Hedgehog: Witchcart or Great Battle Kukku XV, both are Classic-era villains of the Tails spin-offs. As for Dreamcast or Modern-eras, who knows?
