Sinister System terminology, differences in fronting vs shifts

Some people seemed interested in our internal experience, so I've written up a little bit of a guide to help it make sense.

system member: a distinct person/soul who is one of many sharing this body.

kintype: the identity of a soul during a particular lifetime experience.

kin source: the media in which a kin life/kintype is reflected.

kin shift: a particular system member experiencing a greater psychological, emotional, and/or spiritual state where they are embodying a particular kintype in the present moment. A sort of psychological/emotional/spiritual regression to or manifestation of a specific kintype's traits and experiences.

collective shift: when several different system members are experiencing a kin shift to their various personal identities during the same source lifetime.

fronting/taking the front/switching: A particular system member takes control of the body. A fronting member experiences the direct sensory input from the body, has a distinct internal monologue which is 'louder' than the internal thoughts of members who are not fronting, has primary control over the actions and reactions of the body.

Sinister system:

Has roughly 25 distinct system members

Each system member has around 19 kintypes in addition to their overall personal singular identity.

A system member may be experiencing a particular kin shift at any given time. Often multiple system members are in a collective shift.

Let's walk through some abbreviated examples.

Some sinister system members are

🔍⚔️ (Kirigiri)

Each of these system members shares the same kin sources. They experienced several lifetimes in which they were born and interacted with separate identities in the same world.

Some of their kin sources are: Homestuck, Danganronpa, Resident Evil, and Great Ace Attorney.

That means that each distinct system member has a kintype that aligns with each source.

😼🔪 Jas' kintypes are: Vriska Serket (Homestuck), Toko Fukawa (Danganronpa), Karl Heisenberg (Resident Evil) and Yuujin Mikotoba (Great Ace Attorney)

🌀😎 (Akechi)'s kintypes are: Cronus Ampora (Homestuck), Nagito Komaeda (Danganronpa), Albert Wesker (Resident Evil), and Kazuma Asogi (Great Ace Attorney)

🔍⚔️ (Kirigiri)'s kintypes are: Dave Strider (Homestuck), Kyoko Kirigiri (Danganronpa), Tyler Howard (Resident Evil), and Barok Van Zieks (Great Ace Attorney).

When 🔍⚔️ (Kirigiri) is fronting, that means that 🔍⚔️ is the person primarily processing data from the body's senses, making decisions, acting using the body, and experiencing a loud inner monologue.

When 🔍⚔️ (Kirigiri) is fronting, 🔍⚔️ is still Dave Strider, Kyoko Kirigiri, Tyler Howard, and Barok Van Zieks all at once, because these are all lives that 🔍⚔️ has experienced. He has access to the emotions and memories relevant to all of his kintypes, and they all motivate him to a greater or lesser degree.

However, if/when 🔍⚔️ is experiencing a particular kin shift, then the experiences, emotions and memories relevant to that particular shift will be dominate over his other experiences while he's experiencing the shift.

So for example, in a Homestuck kin shift 🔍⚔️ will act more like Dave Strider, because his thoughts, memories, emotions and preferences will be more closely aligned with who he was during that time, and the experience of his other lives will still be present, but have less priority over his actions and thoughts. His experience as Dave will have more immediate relevance to whatever he's doing, and will be experienced more heavily and as if it were more current than his other lives.

If the system is in a collective Homestuck shift, then it means that 🔍⚔️is in a Dave shift, 🌀😎 is in a Cronus shift, and 😼🔪 is in a Vriska shift, all at the same time. The lifetime of Homestuck is most immediately relevant to the entire system if we're experiencing a collective Homestuck shift.

However, not everyone is always in a collective shift. There are times where 🔍⚔️ is in a Dave/Homestuck shift, but 😼🔪 is in a Toko/Danganronpa shift, etc.

HIIII JUNKO HERE TO WISH MY TWIN, MUKURO, A HAPPY BIRTHDAY THIS DECEMBER THE 24TH!!! I know some of you may not be happy to hear that from me, though personally my canons are all pretty canon divergent, and I only ever shift into non-mastermind or non-despair Junko shifts now that my mental health is better (it's been a few years of this, now). I do acknowledge that in some of my canons I definitely hurt Mukuro, which I feel very bad about now, but I don't want to weigh this ask down with regrets, so I won't dwell on that. Instead! I want to express my love and pride for all the Mukuro's out there!!! You're doing amazing!!! I'm so glad you've survived another year!!! Happy birthday, sis!!! Your existence is a gift and I hope you don't let anyone (including me/other mes) make you feel otherwise.

It had been a long and all Hajime wanted to do want go home and rest

When talking home, he got a text from you…

“hiii!!!! hajimee come over, i wanna bake something!!!! <3<3<3”

He smiled, he enjoyed getting texts from you, you are is S/O

He quickly shot you back a text, a simple “sure”, his texting style was nothing like yours with lots of emojis, overly punctuated and not capitals.

But right now isn’t about over thinking your writing style, you wanted him over so he’ll come over!

He had a smile on his face the whole way to your house, his mood had change

When he got to your house he didn’t even have to knock, you were so excited for him you waited by the window

“Come on Hajime! I have everything ready to start!”

You say as you drag him inside, he barely had to take his shoes and jacket off!

Taking him into the kitchen he could see flour, sugarm eggs…

“Huh? I thought you would have gotten like a box mix of something?!”

“Nope! We’re doing this from scratch!”

You say happily, letting Hajime go and walking over to the counter

“Well… Do you at least have like, a recipe?”

“Nope! I’m- WE’RE - going to wing this!”

Hajime tried to abject, but was quickly shut up

After hours of trying to make some dough, you two made some decent looking cookie dough.

After cooking and cooling the cookies, you finally get to try them!

“Uh, I think we somehow mixed up the sugar and salt?”

“Aw man… i was really excited to do this and make something good”

You sat on top of you bed, reading a book for your literature class

You were getting upset about how the story was going, the only female protag in the series APPARENTLY killed someone and NOW she’s going to be executed!

She was your favorite character so far! 

Tears pricked your eyes, sniffing

But suddenly you hear a loud banging noise

You jump, looking up from the book, see that KOKICHI Broke through your window

Well, not broke, just picked the lock

“Heyyyy Y/N what cha doing?”

“Kokichi?! Why did you just break into my room?! You could have knocked on the front door or ring the doorbell!”

“Aww, but that's no fun!”

He whined as he flopped now of your bed

“Well… what do you want? I’m busy reading something for class…”

You asked, confused.

“That's no fun! Reading bah”

He said, ignore your question.’

“Whatever, what do you want?”

You asked more sternly this time

“Aww, i just wanted to ask if you wanted to help dismantle the government!”

He gave him a confused looks

“Wh-a-what?”

You sputtered

“Nishishi, that's just a lie, you should know better Y/N!”

He said, propping himself up on his elbows.

You sigh, closing the book you were reading (You would get back into it later)

“Liar liar pants on fire…”

You mumble, lay on your back.

You two sat in silence for a little before Kokichi did something

Kokichi crawled over to you, leaning over your face

“You wanna play some Mario kart?”

You asked before he could say anything

He smiled

You two got up and rushed downstairs to get the game started

After a few hours Kokichi whined

“Awww Y/NN, why do you keep beating me!!”

You chuckled, pausing the game

“Looks like I’m more skilled than you!”

Kokichi huffed, leaning his head on your shoulder

He complained, giving a little yawn at the end

You laugh, giving him a pat on the head

(Comforting S/O through a thunderstorm)

It was getting late and a storm was about to past though 

It was going to be a big storm

Makoto thought to himself as he got ready for bed

When he was about to get into bed he heard a frantic knock on his door, just as the storm hit and when a loud crack of thunder sounded outside 

He walked over to the door, opening to revealing his S/O.

You had a large blanket wrapped around youself

“Oh, S/O! What are you doing here so late?”

He asked, looking back into his room at the clock on his desk that read “10:35”

“Um, sorry am i bothering you?”

You asked, looking away

“No no! Its fine I was ju-” 

He started before he's cut off by another thunder strike 

You jump, pulling the blanket over your head.

Makoto noticed this

“Hey, do you want to stay here tonight?”

He asked with a smile

You smiled back

“Y-yeah… that’d be nice!”

He moved away from the door so you can come inside

You sat down at the edge of his bed

“Thank you for letting me stay the night!”

You say, trying to stop shaking

“It's no problem!”

He walked over to the bed, sitting down and patting a stop next to him, offering you to lay next to him

You gladly crawl up next to him, wrapping your arms around him, pulling him down.

You two cuddled the rest of the night, occasionally you would get scared at a thunder or lightning strike.

Despite that, it was a nice night, you got to cuddle with your boyfriend Makoto!

headcanons for a hajime’s romantic relationship with komaeda

Komaeda was always getting cold or sick; that’s just the nature of Komaeda! Because of this, Hinata was always certain to bundle him up in plenty of blankets and take care of him in times when he can’t.

However, whether it be due to over-exposure or simply Komaeda’s luck, Hinata would always get sick right after and Hinata would have to muster up all the strength within himself to stay away from Komaeda in order to ensure he won’t get sick again.

On days when Hinata’s sick, the two are always certain to call eachother through skype or some other audio/video chatroom.

It wasn’t quite easy for the both of them. They each had their own insecurities and worries about their relationship. They would often bundle them up within themselves, but when it became too much they would always be open with eachother.

They didn’t spend all their time together; in fact, they often even spent time together with other people as well. It wasn’t rare to find them stuck in some sort of gaming tournament with Nanami or getting dragged off to witness some fight between Akane and anyone willing to challenge her(AKA Nidai).

They were both ready to admit it; they definitely couldn’t handle a pet. They considered speaking to Gundam about the concept but quickly found that it’s already enough work taking care of eachother and having a pet would only make it harder on the both of them.

If they were to get a pet however, they’d want a dog. Komaeda would prefer a larger dog and trust Hinata would be willing to get a larger dog as well. However, when Hinata returns with the dog, Komaeda would be stunned to see Hinata carrying a dachshund! Komaeda, of course, would ask why he got a dog like that. Hinata would only be able to say, “his name was Frank. Frank Furter.” and that would be that.

Often, Hinata would find Komaeda taking his clothes. When asked about why he was always wearing his clothes, Komaeda would say ‘they’re just too comfy.’ It seemed like an appropriate enough response for Hinata who hardly ever had a problem with it.

If the two were to use snapchat, Komaeda would be the one to take the more aesthetically pleasing pictures, using any cosmetic filters possible, while Hinata would often take blurry pictures or use some of the oddest filters possible. Komaeda once woke up at 4:38 A.M. to find Hinata had sent him a picture using the slug filter captioned ‘hey look im ur SF(slugfriend)’ [Komaeda absolutely threw a pillow at him when Hinata went to try and wake him up later that morning.]

Speaking of pictures, whenever Koizumi tries to take a picture of the two of them together, for one reason or another, Hinata does whatever he can to make it harder on her. It’s not that he doesn’t want his picture taken, he’s never had a problem with that. Komaeda thinks it’s a vain attempt to become the next Jabberwock cryptid. He calls it him Jabberslug.

Okay so continued from this ask about Kyoko

Anyways, as introduced in THH, Kyoko is an extremely distant person with an iron mask, which intimidates everyone around her.

Everytime she happens to be described, she is described as something akin to a ghost aka not someone belonging to this world because of how ethereal her presence is.

She was moulded (read: traumatized) by her grandpa to become a detective to the extent that she was desperate to prove herself to him to not get kicked out like her father (she was also manipulated into believing that her father left because he didn't care about her by said grandpa) since her grandpa was...well the only one who had showed her a proper modicum of love at that point.

Her family took being a detective as something involving an extreme amount of honour which resulted in her trauma.

She also... didn't know what she was apart from a "perfect Detective" and was terrified of that internally (she has a LOT of parallels with Nagito which is why I REALLY want them to team up atleast ONCE likedanganronpaIambeggingyou), since she felt like an empty husk due to repressing her emotions since forever.

Because that's how a true detective should be (...it's really scary how MUCH she fits my own ideal of a detective), operating by cold hard logic to uncover the truth from the messy web of lies and make it known. A detective was to not take sides, nor aspire for fame (coughSherlockHolmescough), they must always remain neutral and not let personal feelings or prejudices come into the way, and she followed that.

Now, in the first game (I assume it was the worst for her since all she knew about herself was simply that she's a detective), everyone loses their memories of their school life with each other, leading them to believe that they had just met. They all remember their Ultimate Talents (heads up: An Ultimate Talent is something that you must be the very best at in your particular field in your age group. If you are like that, then Hope's Peak Academy personally scouts you and you are invited to attend the school as an "Ultimate"), apart from Kyoko.

Yeah, she quite possibly forgot that she was a detective, or atleast she forgot that she was the Ultimate of it, nevertheless, the main source of her self confidence and rigidity was lost to vague memory, which I believe caused her closed off ness to be more exaggerated, since I believe she was TERRIFIED. Imagine the one thing you stake your identity on....which you end up forgetting.

Throughout the game, she basically carries the class trials by herself and is virtually the only reason the six survivors are actually survivors.

However due to her upbringing, she has another issue which happens to be...

....severe trust issues. She has been told not to trust anyone and considering that they are in a literal KILLING GAME, you really can't blame her.

However, this leads to her downfall.

In Chapter 3, she disappears since she has presumably found a secret passage in the bathroom which she was investigating along with the school to find the secret of the Killing Game and the mastermind. She refuses to trust her classmates and shoulders the entire responsibility onto herself, since she desperately wants to uncover the truth....

.....her motto which she has been clinging onto for dear life, underneath all the turmoil.

Makoto (our sweet sweet protagonist, the nicest person ever in Danganronpa) notices this and gently tells her that she can rely on him....that she doesn't have to shoulder everything by herself. He doesn't act pushy, he just tells her that it's okay for her to trust people since she literally looked dazed when she came back in Chapter 3, and she goes,

"Okay, I will give this trusting people thing a try."

She then trusts him with the secret of the bathroom hidden passage but he ends up getting attacked and in bed. F.

Anyways, that causes him to become the target of the mastermind.

Now Kyoko, apparently due to her training is capable of hearing "Reaper's footsteps" aka she can "hear" when her or someone she really loves's death is close.

Now, when Makoto nearly gets killed by the mastermind, Kyoko hears it and fights them off. The mastermind had been planning to kill Makoto and frame her as his killer which she realised so she stays at his room until she's sure the danger has passed.

Anyways, she obviously leaves and then the rest of the classmates discover a dead body whose mask they try to take off but it explodes and Makoto notices that they are dressed the same way as his attacker was. Kyoko arrives way late which makes him wonder whether she had killed that person or not.

Fast forward to the trial where she says that it's now or never for her.

Anyways.

What we have to remember about Kyoko is her MAIN motivation aka solving the mystery. She wouldn't hesitate to make sacrifices to get to it. She is dedicated to her job.

[We also have to remember that she spent her life travelling from place to place, always shifting schools, causing a lack of proper attachments. The only attachment she had was her grandpa until she met Yui Samidare who dies pretty soon during a case via self sacrifice for Kyoko in a way. During all this, her motto and her dedication to it were the only constants].

Anyways.

The mastermind attempted to frame Kyoko for that particular dead body, but Kyoko manipulated the whole trial and framed Makoto as the culprit instead to save her own life.

Makoto gets sent to the execution but doesn't die since his Ultimate Luck talent saves him and he gets thrown into a trash dumpster.

Kyoko comes to save him and apologises. A small sign of trust since she literally never does that. Makoto was virtually the only one she trusted since despite her frosty exterior, he tried to get to know her, but didn't push and just gave her space......and said trust in her backfired and caused him to nearly die but anyways—.

At that point, Kyoko has remembered her Ultimate Talent (Ultimate Detective) and she trusts Makoto with that. She further trusts Makoto with telling him about her frustrations against her father. She didn't even admit them to herself until much much later.....and she trusts him enough to say that.....

....maybe because of how easily he forgave her but eh—

Anyways, she finds her father's skeleton in a nice little box, gift wrapped and everything which causes her to lose her composure ever so slightly and Makoto leaves to give her space to collect herself.

Even though the first game was essentially Hope VS Despair, it was also about Trust.

Since if you do not trust in the feeling of Hope, you will fall into despair.

Something we can see with Kirigiri in a way.

Kyoko being a detective is possibly the best way to broach the topic of trust, since lies and truth are directly connected to it.

If you are truthful with someone, then that usually means that you trust them.

Kyoko's motto was to remain neutral and without biases which caused her to actually develop a bias, nearly getting her best friend killed.

She wanted to solve the mystery and uncover the truth, however she also realised that without trusting others with some modicum of the truth, she wouldn't be able to do so.

When she arrives at the very end of Goodbye Despair in the 6th trial, it's nice to see her relationship with trust having grown enough to give the Remnants a second chance by trusting that they would be able to find the core truth inside themselves to break free from the lies crafted by the mastermind's brainwashing.

Hajime finds his own truth and decides to go "fuck this, I will make my OWN future" due to this.

[She ALSO finds out that her father was involved in Hajime's inhumane brainwashing which probably just destroyed her last bit of trust towards Hope's Peak Academy but eh].

In DR3, when she holds Naegi's hand with her ungloved burnt hands, it's a symbol of HOW much her trust has grown in order for her to bare her wounds like this to reach to him and pull him out of his own despair.

In conclusion: She's the best person ever and deserves the world

It depends on the kin! For Rise!Leo and Sonic, I'd say I'm fairly similar. But as for the rest... not really. I do act differently when in a shift, though.

It's funny how my selfhood/ID kin (Nagito Komaeda) is basically nothing like me in terms of speech patterns, beliefs and morals. We are pretty similar if you look deeper, but definitely not on the surface.

Yo Hajime talk abt ur kin mems

since there were no specifications on which ones i am going to start from the beginning and go where my brain takes me from there. they're all gonna be for hajime bc i physically cannot think about my other memories anymore jsyk

also! this ended up being so long i had to put a cut. i will not be apologizing because i feel no remorse.

so first the basic stuff, i remember having a med skin tone and a FUCK ton of freckles like those motherfuckers were everywhere i had skin. also i was 5'7 i think?? or 5'6. i still can't remember exactly but it's something like that. i was also alloaro, some form of mlm, unfortunately cis, and autistic and probably had some other stuff like adhd or depression or whatever but i forgot. also i was kinda muscle-y but also chubby at the same time. and i had light green eyes. basically i was fanon hajime JSJSKDJDKS

and i was going over the wiki recently and my personality was EXACTLY how they described it like i'm genuinely surprised they got it so accurate

i don't remember much pre-game and post game, most of my memories are in game but i do remember pre game chiaki really well, honestly i rly miss her :( she would always reassure me that i didn't need a talent and i never even cared when she beat me in games cus just simply playing them with her was so fun .,.,,;:,,...,,!:&:&:jsjdjskskck</3

anyways. in game. ok. i'm gonna skip over memories where i just know feelings and not specific things like strong feelings or ppl saying stuff or else this would be so long. also obvious sdr2 spoilers

so i remember the party & blackout in the beginning of the game pretty clearly. i was mostly just standing alone in the corner and watching everyone have fun, but it was really freeing to see the others able to enjoy themselves in such pressing circumstances. then the blackout-- it was kinda like all that happiness going away and the dread and denial immediately setting in .

anyways i remember like panicking and wanting to cry when i lifted the table cloth cus i really liked twogami. i'm p sure i did end up crying cus i really liked them for their realism and leadership skills, and the realization that one of us killed them and that the killing game was actually real etc etc

anyway i don't remember much from the investigation or trial besides being really freaked out when nagito basically admitted to being the killer n stuff, and pretty much all the body discoveries after that (besides ch 5) we're just like "ah shit here we go again" but i do remember mikans trial really freaking me out when she just straight up shifted completely, and i also remember being really proud of fuyuhiko for putting his walls down a bit and deciding to help everyone out while the despair disease was going around

anyway enough of the boring stuff, i spent basically all my free time with komaeda, chiaki and mikan (in order of frequency) and with mikan i mostly listened to her talk about medical stuff and i comforted her when she needed to vent, but i didn't hang out with her much because the constant apologizing n stuff started to bother me since i really liked seeing her happy. chiaki i would mostly play games with and we wouldn't talk much, but she gave me a really strong sense of familiarity like when we played games together it gave me a shit ton of deja vu

AND i've already talked a lot about komaeda but idc i'm doing it again. so we started talking cus of him waking me up on the beach obvs and i was pretty attached right off the bat, but i stopped talking to him for awhile because the way he acted in the first trial REALLY scared me so i just got a pit in my stomach even being around him

but he was the one who started approaching me first, i'm guessing since he couldn't rly sense anything was wrong he just kinda picked things up where they left off and started talking w me at breakfast n stuff and it was pretty weird at first, but i wanted to give him a chance and didn't wanna be rude so i accepted offers to hang out in his cottage n stuff

i remember he has surgery scars tho and i'm rly mad ppl don't draw him with any!! i think he had about 5 and i don't remember all of them but i know one was a skin graft on his leg and the one on his side/stomach that i touched wassssss for appendix removal maybe???? mmmm i'm not too sure about that one tho

also !!!! his death. hoooooly shit. ok so yunno the despair that junko always talks about ?????? yeah <3!! i remember like once i saw his body and took the reality in i just. straight up could NOT stand i like fell to my knees and jsut . cried. like i had no thoughts my head was so full that it was empty i just kinda sat there and silent cried while chiaki stood next to me it was so awful dude

later while investigating n stuff i felt really bad ab how i treated him and thought about him, and i thought a lot about our last interaction. it was the first time i had ever approached him myself cus usually he'd come to me. i was gonna hang out with chiaki but i wanted to check up on him first, so i did and he told me to go hang out with the others and i just. knew something terrible was about to happen.

OH AND THE FUNHOUSE OMG ok i literally. i usually didn't mind being around komaeda like he was chill most of the time when he wasn't ranting about hope but when he was acting like such a bitch in the funhouse i wanted to punch his stupid twink ass so bad like...... what BUSINESS does this dude have being such an asshole. he doesn't even know what face wash is. what the fuck. which is another fun fact! komaeda did shower every so often which is why he didn't smell that bad but his skin was always so dry cus he didn't know how to actually wash right and do proper skincare so he just washed his face w soap and left it like that

also he didn't need to cut his nails cus they were so brittle they would just break off on their own <3 plus he had a nail biting habit so they just never grew ever

OH AND THIS IS THE SADDEST THING i remember feeling so bad for this man bc i would like put my hand on his shoulder and he would lean into it. i mean i'd tap his shoulder for a SECOND and girl when i let go hed be lowkey so sad i could just sense it like??????dude he needed a hug SSO BAD like when i hugged him in my cuddling memory he was like holding on for dear life but also was like "u dOnT hAvE tO tOuCh TrAsH LiKe mE hAjImE" like dude it was the saddest shit. i want to hug him forever. like what the fuck what the fuck!!!!!!!!!

also a thing hed do when he started ranting ab hope n shit like he would just go on and on and yunno that one sprite where he's hugging himself yeah he literally did that shit. also sometimes hed just stare dead at me and start backing me into a corner ((ish-- we were usually sitting somewhere but he mostly just got super close to me) and it was the scariest shit i. bro if i saw him like that on the streets i'd return him to the mental hospital like i can remember it somewhat vividly and that shit was TERRIFYING i mean obvs after i shoved him away and told him to cool it he'd apologize and go back to the way he was but jeez dude ....

also a little fun fact the only reason i really kept hanging out with him (i had a few ofc but this was the most prominent) is cus he was hot in my stupid monkey brain. yes that's it. like that's literally pretty much it. i hate admitting it but this post is SO fucking long i doubt anyone's gonna read it anyway so i'm admitting it now lol
