Karasu would act like he'll be great at ice skating, but secretly it's his first time ever doing it. So when he falls for the first time, you offer to hold his hand, but he declines (he thinks it's mediocre to need help so soon without trying by himself at first.) But when he falls for a second and third time, he finally accepts that offer and you hold hands almost the entire time.

Otoya has gone ice skating a handful of times in his life, but the last time was a while ago. He doesn't go that fast at first, but when he gets the hang of it he speeds up a little more. You're slower than him, so he decides to speed up very much and skate an entire round while you went a half one. When he passes you, he grabs your hand and wants you to go faster as well.

You asked Kurona to go ice skating very spontaneously, but he decided it would be a fun thing, so he agreed to it. Even though it was his first time going ice skating, he was very good and didn't need much time to get used to being on the ice. But it was your first time as well, so it took you some more time to get used to it. But you got the hang of it very quickly and had lots of fun ice skating with Kurona!

Zantetsu would definitely try to show off his speed when ice skating! But because it's a much different feeling from running, he loses balance more often than he'd like to and almost falls a handful of times. But he always manages to gain his balance back on time or saves himself by gripping the edge of the skating rink. But one time, you're close to him when he loses balance, so he grabs your arm and both of you end up falling to the ground. He apologizes over and over but you reassure him it's fine because you actually think it was funny.

Shidou would go super crazy. Constantly grabbing your hand to make you have the same speed as him. He'd also try to do some tricks, but he's never done any before and only saw videos, so he messes up all of them and falls. At the end of the day, his legs and arms are bruised but he laughs it off because all he cares about is how much fun he had with you!

Oliver invited you to go ice skating with you, because he was convinced he'd be much better than you and wanted to show off. But to his surprise, you're great at ice skating! He's secretly a little salty about how much better you are at him. When you lose your balance and fall, he uses the chance to tease you. And he will not stop saying stuff like "be careful not to fall again" over and over. But he does it in a way that makes you laugh.

Kaiser asked you to go to a Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) with him, and when you spot the rather small skating rink, you get super excited about it so of course Kaiser will go ice skating with you. It's one of the best things to do at a Weihnachtsmarkt, after all! But because it's so crowded you lose each other all the time and it's not as much fun as you expected it to be and you don't end up staying on the skating rink for that long.

Bachira gets super excited when you ask him to go ice skating with you! But it's his first time doing it, so he asks to hold your hand the entire time. Even though he wouldn't need it, he just likes the extra reassurance of having you close to him. He would randomly speed up because it's more fun like that!

Kunigami actually had other weekend plans with you, but that failed so the next best idea you guys got was to go ice skating instead. While Kunigami is still a bit upset about your original plan failing, he quickly forgot about that because ice skating turned out to be so much fun! But when you fall for the first time, he starts paying more attention to you so he can be quick to grab and save you whenever you're about to lose balance again.

Nagi wasn't excited about going ice skating at all. In fact, you had to bother and ask him over and over to go along. He ended up giving in after two days of you asking him. And it's so much more fun than he expected it to be! Although, you don't stay on the skating rink for that long. Afterwards, you invite him to your home and you drink warm choccy milk together.

In the beginning, Barou acted as if he wasn't amazed by your offer to go ice skating at all. But secretly, he was very much looking forward to it! It's his first time going ice skating, and he's super overconfident in himself. He doesn't lose balance or falls, but he notices how it's a bit harder than he expected it to be. You're more experienced in ice skating, so he's trying to keep up with your speed because he doesn't like to admit you're better at it than he is.

Gagamaru has never heard of ice skating (A/N: he canonly doesn't know the concept of singing so this fits), but when you explained it to him, he was very interested in doing that with you. He has super good body control and reflexes, but he's a bit weirded out by being on the ice for the first time. He holds your shoulder or hand almost the entire time until he feels safe enough to go on his own.

Tokimitsu really wanted to do something new with you, but didn't have that many ideas. But ice skating popped into his head! He was super nervous about suggesting it to you, so he was overjoyed when you accepted his offer! He was kind of nervous on the ice so you held his hand the entire time. He was worried about his hand being too sweaty, tho. Both of you still ended up having a super fun time!

It was a bit of a surprise to Nanase when you asked him to go ice skating with you, but he happily agreed! Each time one of you falls, you help each other get up again and laugh about it. You like to grab his hand and speed up a lot, which usually ends up in both of you slamming into the edge of the skating rink. It always hurts a little for a few seconds, but it makes both of you laugh! In general, the day was a super fun experience for both of you!

The beach holds a lot of risks for someone who wants to look in tiptop shape, but that isn’t deterring Aryu from a beautiful day out with you. He picks his outfits in advance, setting out patterned tropical shirts and matching pants, and he even puts his hair up and decorates it with shiny floral accessories. He’ll try to match with you and offer to help you dress yourself up, making sure you look just as glam as he does. Once at the beach, he’s eager to tan in the sun for a bit to show off his equally pretty swimsuit, and if time allows, he’ll even try to buy some souvenir clothes at the gift shop. You might be able to convince him to buy one of those obnoxious cringey tourist-bait t-shirts, but only if you promise to get one yourself to match with him and parade around the beach together like the keenly dressed couple you are!

“What do you think about this one?” You proudly hold up a big white t-shirt that has the phrase ‘SUNS OUT, GUNS OUT’ printed onto it in huge black letters. It’s garish and decorated with the most ugly emoji pictures known to man, which is why it caught your attention and precisely why you picked it out for Aryu to judge.

Your boyfriend swallows back a heavy sigh, rubbing his temples as if staring at your picks any longer would cause his brain to melt out of his ears. You had dragged him around the gift shops picking out the ugliest shirts you could find, each one growing worse than the last. Aryu shot down your offer to buy matching t-shirts with cartoon abs plastered onto the torso, so you thought you were toning things down.

“Are you really set on buying the most tacky thing you can get your hands on?” He asks, as if questioning you will change your determined will to wrestle your boyfriend into an embarrassing shirt. You nod eagerly, turning your attention back to the rack of horrible apparel next to you. Abandoning the white shirt you were just holding, you start rifling through it again.

“C’mon, it’ll be fun! Think about how jealous all of your friends will be! Even if it’s an awful souvenir, it’s not like they have a significant other that they can match with.” You grin at him with what Aryu can only describe as devilish intent as you bring out your next contender for him to judge. This time, it’s an all black t-shirt with the phrase ‘I GET BEACHES’ on it in bright yellow cartoonish print.

Aryu sighs again defeatedly. “...I suppose love and glam can go hand-in-hand. Very well. Pick whichever one you like. We can wear the shirts together, and perhaps everyone will see our natural stylishness shine even more from our affection for one another.”

Your grin widens even further, stretching quite literally from ear-to-ear. “Say less! I’ll pick out the best shirt you’ve ever seen!”

NANASE NIJIRO!

Nanase’s sunny attitude and courage often leads to him sticking himself headfirst into places he’s less-than-equipped for. You should have expected this: your endearing boyfriend making a beeline for the waves the moment you arrived at the beach, only to realize in horror that the boy has no clue how to swim and is being swept away as he flails his arms uselessly. After fishing him out and failing to get properly mad at him once you see his bright smile, you have no choice but to resort to teaching him the basics. Buying him a few floaties and kickboard ought to do the trick, and Nanase will entertain himself for hours bobbing around in the sea, looking more like a toddler in all of his swim gear than he does a soon-to-be professional soccer player. But, hey, at least he still looks adorable!

You tighten the floating around Nanase’s bicep, making sure the velcro strap is fastened on securely enough that no amount of waving, flailing, or splashing will cause it to come loose. Nanase waits patiently, and he stares up at you with his big eyes as drops of salty water drip from strands of his midnight black hair. 

You pat his arm when you’re satisfied with your work. “Okay, that should be good! Jesus, you scared me really badly there… Why’d you go rushing into the water if you don’t know how to swim?”

“It looked fun! Everyone else was already in the water, and I was in there before I knew it! I couldn’t help it… Isn’t the whole point of going to a beach to have fun in the water?” Nanase asks innocently, and a hint of a boyish smile tugs at the corners of his lips. Even when he’s being scolded, he looks so pleased with himself that you have no choice but to forgive him almost automatically. 

“Well… Yeah, but still…,” you sigh, shaking your head. “Just take it easy, and don’t go places where you can’t get yourself out of. These floaties should keep you from going under at least. Don’t go too far away, and stay close to me, okay? I’ll go in with you.”

His eyes light up, twinkling like stars when you mention that you’ll be accompanying him. “You’re going to come with….? Oh! Are you going to save me again if something bad happens?”

This boy…! You can’t tell if he actually has a brain in that head of his. What are you ever going to do with someone as airheaded as him? It’s like he lives and breathes just for your attention, and as much as you love him, it makes you wary of everything he does. 

You reach over, and you grab his cheeks, pinching the soft flesh and stretching his face out as if it were made out of playdough. “Don’t go and get any stupid ideas! Purposefully drowning yourself so that I’ll rescue you is not an option, Nanase! Do you hear me?”

Nanase mumbles out the best he can with his cheeks being pinched, “Y-Yesshir…”

SHIDOU RYUSEI!

surfing!

Shidou loves moving to the beat of his own drum. He acts independently, plays independently, and defies the logic of anyone who tries to snare him within the strings of reasoning. Getting to go on a beach date with you means that he’s going to do whatever he wants. Be it teasing you in your swimsuit, downing a whole mountain of shaved ice, and then letting loose in the water, Shidou knows how to keep himself busy and does his best to drag you into his shenanigans as well. Whether or not it ends up with the two of you mastering the waves or play-fighting while drenching each other in seawater, Shidou will have you laughing and enjoying yourself with him by the end of the day. He has his charms, as insufferable as he might be, but you have to give him credit where credit is due.

“Hey-”

The sun blares in your eyes while you try to relax underneath the big beach umbrella you had lugged out to the sandy shore, taking refuge in the shade it creates as you forget the rest of the world. Or you would, had it not been for your insistent boyfriend constantly prodding at your arm.

“C’mon, quit ignoring me,” Shidou grumbles, puffing his cheeks out. You don’t know how he manages to keep up his energy even in the blazing beach heat, but when Shidou becomes fixated on something, he won’t stop until he sees it through. Unfortunately for you in this case, he’s determined to get you to join him and won’t let you rest until you will.

You groan dramatically, flopping like a pile of goop onto the beach towel underneath you. “It’s so hot! How does anyone have the energy to go surf in the sun like this?”

“The whole point of surfing is to cool off, idiot.” Shidou pokes you in the side of your head jokingly. He gestures to the waves a few feet away, the clear blue water glistening like diamonds underneath the unfiltered sunlight. “We try it out, we fall into the water, and we cool off. Solid plan, don’tcha think?”

You wonder if it’s worth biting back at him, to tell him to go do it on his own while you desperately try to cool off on your own, but if the wide grin on his face tells you anything, it’s that Shidou will drag you into the sea one way or another. It’s your choice whether or not you go willingly or have him carry you kicking and screaming, and you make the wise decision to peel yourself off of the ground.

“You’re not going to take no for an answer, aren’t you? I know you too well,” you pretend to sigh disappointedly, but your faux reluctance isn’t fooling anyone. Shidou gives a loud cheer and grabs your hands, leaving the two of you stumbling across the hot sand and towards the surfboards, ready to make a splash in the waves. 

MICHAEL KAISER!

getting sunburnt and crying for your attention!

Kaiser loves trying to show off to impress you, only to turn around and end up flopping so bad that he looks pathetic instead. But that’s all part of his charm, isn’t it? Leave it to everyone’s (least) favorite German to buckle up for a romantic day at the beach, except he ends up getting burned by the sun to the point that he turns as red as a lobster. Lucky for him, you’re there to comfort him when he comes crying about how much it hurts and how he feels like he’s going to die unless you’re there to rub aloe vera onto his chest and back. It’s totally not because he wants you to feel his abs and toned back muscles, and he totally doesn’t need a kiss from you in order to heal as fast as he can! Maybe what he truly needs from you is a harsh glare from you and a freezing cold ice pack in order to put him back in his place.

“What are you going to do without me?” You sigh, shaking your head as you slather up your hands with a generous helping of soothingly cool aloe vera. Kaiser whimpers, laying on his stomach as his irritated red back provides proof to you that your handsome but stupid boyfriend got cooked to crisp in the sun. 

He groans under his breath in relief when you spread the solution onto his sunburnt skin, his body practically melting underneath your fingertips. You bite back a coy smile; who could imagine an esteemed striker like him turning into needy putty the moment he needs your help? 

“Darling, it’s like I’m falling in love with you all over again,” he whispers. He squirms underneath you, trying to guide your hands upwards his muscled back, clearly flexing his muscles to show off, and you roll your eyes. Smacking his shoulders gently, you take your hands off of him.

“I’m more than aware of how helpless you’d be if you didn’t have me.” You don’t want to admit that you’re equally in love with him, even though dating him feels more like being his white knight in shining armor than a proper lover at times. But when he cranes his neck to look up at you with such loving blue eyes and his signature grin, you can’t help but let your frown turn into a smile.

“But I do have you. Because you’re so madly in love with my charm, right? Because I’m that good-looking and talented, right?” Kaiser’s just fishing for your attention at this point to lift his spirits, and you lean forward to brush some of his hair out of his forehead. 

You roll your eyes, and you kiss him quickly to get him to shut up. “Whatever helps you sleep at night, you doofus.”

Kaiser melts again, swooning visibly as he gazes deeply at your face. He bats his eyelashes up at you, his cheeks brightening into a tiny pink flush as he stares at you as if you were the most beautiful person ever in history. “You know… I’m sure I’d be instantly cured if you kissed my sunburn better… What do you think, darling?”

“Dream on, Kaiser.”

LIKE;; Reader's also a soccer player(the good ones yk — pro lvl) and works as an extra coach for any of the teams like an extra help, etc etc.

AND Reader's young, like around Loki's age(17),, and since they're the same age , they're friends(even before Neo Egoist) ehshsh.

So bc of that, Reader chooses to assist Loki ofc bros a single mom w/ +3 kids. Reader was supposed to be a helper but in the end, turned out to be more of a babysitter Charles but he's actually good at it.

Reader is a good player but his dream is not as high — tho, he still wants to stick around Loki and stuff. He's good at convincing ppl(Reader).

Loki can manage his team well- so he's now there more of a decoration and to fill out space — Loki still doesn't mind(ooc but idc). Reader keeps watch and keeps some things in order; update some news and manage some status.

Also keeps company babysits to the team since they're all pretty young still. Loki n' R! Get well together, even tho R! cannot fulfill Charles role(being the best passer for Loki) Loki still keeps him around for the sake of his sanity sometimes. Ofc, he cares abt him.

Ima do a HC that Charles only likes to obey R! just to annoy Loki off. W/ that, both start slowly building somewhat of a bond through all the time they've met each other. Charles & R! have more of a sibling dynamic.

Idk, feel like Rin and R! would kinda get along. Tho ofc Rin thinks that's R! is a waste of talent for being that good but not having a high enough dream. "Mediocre" is his nickname for R!.

Zanzetsu asks R! questions all the time. Tries to show off, fails, but at least he learned something/the correct way.

R!'s main role is to separate Rins' and Shidou's fights when it happens.. Loki's grateful.

Shidou likes how R! gets all "freaky" (he means agitated) when having to stop him from going wild. Likes R!'s 'explosion' on the field when he actually played for once(even if it is for demonstration). Annoys R! for his number.

characters like them probably wanted to just sit and watch you dance, clap for you (kunigami), make fun of you (raichi) or maybe get up and do certain moves here and there (gagamaru), but to think that they’d end up doing the whole dance?????? the entire dance break, with the waacking part??? it was not in their vision to be doing this.. but oh well!

i can also imagine characters like yukimiya, karasu, iemon and kira watching you dance at first. but after seeing how fun it is, they get up and join you too!!! they don’t know what they’re doing and you’re both laughing but it doesn’t matter. bonus points if you’re dancing in the middle of the night and the whole neighbourhood is asleep!!!!

these songs are LITERALLYYY made for slow dancing. characters who want to savour the night with you by holding your waist and having you place your arms on their chest as you both sway left and right.

the atmosphere is so loving, and it’s in this moment that you know how much he loves you and he knows how much you love him. the way he looks into your eyes and you can practically see yourself engraved in his pupil. i can imagine these with characters like barou, zantetsu, and eita.

barou, the selfish king has finally found his queen who’s worthy of his attention and love.

zantetsu, who sometimes doesn’t know left from right, can finally dance to the rhythm of the music with you. he even manages to not step on your foot!! (he probably asked reo and nagi for help. then reo made him slow dance with nagi to practice while reo sung horribly for them LMFAOAOA).

and of course! our dearest eita otoya. sometimes nobody knows what he’s thinking about; but the answer is obvious. what else would he be thinking about if not you? there’s only you in his head.

characters like rin, hiori and shidou would giggle a bit when the song suddenly changed and you broke eye contact. it was really like they were in a trance!

shidou would spin you around like a ballerina and laugh a bit. he’d do silly dances and pull you along with him. at the more upbeat parts he’d pretend to play the background guitar music while you grabbed a tv remote and pretended it to be singing into it. you’re both VERY off key… but with shidou it doesn’t matter.

NOW RIN probably wouldn’t know what to do. he’s awkward. you’re probably the one who has to spin him like a ballerina. and my god… it’s hard for him to spin since you’re so much shorter than him. he has to bend his back and at first he’s confused like “wtf are you doing y/n” until you go “spin!! rin c’mon! spin!” and he gets the hint and spins LOLL he’s so cute. you probably make him jump around and he doesn’t know what’s going on but he knows for sure that he is happy.

hiori… oh sweet hiori. he’s giggling so much at how you dance and drag his hand along for him to dance too! and he does!!!! hiori’s a silly boyfriend. he does NOT care that the windows are wide open. he doesn’t care that both your hairs are in a mess, both of you sweating like no tomorrow. heck, he’s probably even taking this dancing as a workout!!! but more importantly, he’s happy that you’re happy!!

When you insist that it wouldn't be proper for you to charge the prince anything, he laughs and says he'll pay you in kisses instead.

Later, he has you stay for a meal and dancing at the inn, holding your hand and hardly letting you out of his sight. What can you say but yes when he invites you back to court with him? Don't worry about traditions or those stuffy clothes and etiquette rules, there's nobody who outranks him.

NAGI as Reo's friend, a son of a noble house who wants nothing more than to while away his days in a quiet country estate. But after Reo saw his skill at swordplay, he's dragged along in a clatter of hooves and plate armor to seek out and slay mythical fire breathing beasts.

He's glad they're staying in a town tonight instead of camping again, because the ground is hard and it looks too close to rain for his taste. Reo rents out the local inn and he was going to take a hot bath and ask for dinner to be brought to him, but for some reason, Reo insists he eat with the rest of the group and they do some drills for spectators to watch.

Nagi isn't sure why Reo is so stubborn, but after he sees you in the crowd, watching the purple-haired and blue-blooded fighter, he understands why. What he doesn't get is the dark, twisted feeling in his chest when you gasp at Reo and gloss over him.

ZANTETSU is the rear guard. As the last to enter the town, he's more focused on keeping children from grabbing his horse's tail then whatever Reo is doing up front, but he eventually gets impatient and dismounts to investigate.

Seeing you there, he claps a hand on your shoulder from behind and is about to begin issuing a scolding for blocking the well when you turn around and words die in his throat. See, he's always believed those fairy tales of shining knight and their beautiful royal lover.

While he's lost in his daydream, he doesn't realize you are about to pass out, frightened by his serious face and intimidating demeanor. Reo brushes his hand off and laughs, snapping him into a huff, and he spends the rest of the evening trying to subtly signal that he knows of your supposed aristocratic origins.

You, meanwhile, are perfectly confused and uncertain if this man is incredibly intelligent or dumb as rocks.

NARUHAYA, the baker's son who's known you as long as you've lived here. When you're not back from getting water for a long time, he steps out and realizes who's been monopolizing your attention.

Holding a loaf twice as fine as anything he could ever dream of eating, there's only despair in the pit of his stomach as he watches Reo spin you around and laugh as he dances. The crowd cheers louder when the prince announces he's footing the bill for all drinks, but even a mug of good ale doesn't cheer him up.

Surrounded by chattering patrons and the knights he always dreamed of becoming when growing up, he can feel one last fantasy slip out of his grasp. He doesn't stand a chance against the prince in any competition, let alone one for your hand.

Quietly, he abandons his drink and slips off into the shadows, returning home. The next day, when his little siblings can't stop talking about the parade riding out of town, the only thing he asks is if you looked happy.

ISAGI you knew of when you were younger. In fact, it was his suggestion that brought Prince Reo to your town. He grew up on a farm and used to visit once or twice a year for the big markets, and left to become a squire years ago.

For a few months, it was all anyone could talk about, that boy who went to the capital to become a knight. When you find this out, he laughs it off sheepishly as not a huge deal and changes the topic.

Secretly, he's proud that you remember him and hopes he might be able to convince Reo to stay a few days longer than planned under the guise of visiting his parents. Little does he know that Reo already has big plans for you.

BACHIRA slides next to Isagi and jumps right into conversing with you. Sorry he's late, he had to make sure his horse was stabled correctly! She hates being cold, he sighs, and pulls an apple from his pocket. There was a tree out back, do you want one?

You gasp—the innkeeper is incredibly territorial over his apples, guarding them like gold against wasps and children alike. He just laughs and takes a crisp bite, then offers the fruit to you. You look adorable with cheeks stuffed and juice running down your chin—let him wipe it off for you.

Bachira winks and takes his apple back: "I want the seeds!" Really, though, he just wants to share some food with you. Isn't it a little bit of an indirect kiss?

YUKIMIYA finds you outside under the eaves when Reo's lost you. He stands next to you and watches the rain fall, as the overcast sky has finally opened up. You just needed a break from the noise and stuffiness indoors, you explain.

He offers to keep you company and you settle into a content silence together. He finds his thoughts wandering, first thinking about how his own home would look with someone like you there to welcome him back after a long day's ride, then about his future family.

He doesn't have Reo's status or Bachira's flirtatiousness, but would you humor this humble knight and let him linger a little longer?

CHIGIRI isn’t a knight, but a messenger Reo brought along just in case. His job is easy, really, just riding around with the company all day because the prince rarely has need to send orders back.

He’s the first to know that Reo intends to bring you to court when the prince pulls him aside and quietly orders him to ride back and commission an entire wardrobe for you, posthaste. Galloping alone in the middle of the night, all he can wonder is how you’d look decked out in his scarlet instead of Reo’s colors.

Well, the prince didn’t give him any specifics on your garb, so maybe he can sneak one piece of red in. He groans quietly to himself, regretting his injury that prevented him from becoming a knight–he’s never minded until his time with you was cut short.

ARYU is the tailor you meet after Reo sweeps you back to his castle. He brings out a parade of silk and brocade, each garment more dazzling than the last. Unfortunately, he insists on you trying each one on so he can properly fit it, which leads to a long and tiring day.

Reo is well aware that Aryu’s the best out there and can do nothing but watch as his hands linger on your waist for a tad too long. Unbeknownst to you, Aryu spends many a late night scribbling by candlelight, dreaming up design after design for your wedding attire. He knows he’s got a snowball’s chance in hell compared to the prince, but he can dream… and also repurpose these in different colors for your everyday use.

It’s a secret he’ll never tell anyone, but he does get a lot of compliments on his latest batch of designs.

TOKIMITSU finds you in the garden after you leave to try and get some peace. Nobody knows the stresses of life in high court better than him, he explains, offering you an early sprig of hyacinths from his carefully maintained greenhouse.

The next morning, you wake up to a hanging basket with tendrils of sweet-smelling jasmine and zinnias. The handwritten card welcomes you to court and asks you to accept this small gift as congratulations–Reo doesn’t have the heart to say no when you’re so taken with the blooms that mean “sweet love” and “thoughts of absent friends.”

Tokimitsu frets for days before he next sees you, upon which you immediately thank him for the gift. Phew, you knew it was him and haven’t caught on to the hidden message yet.

NANASE meets you when you get hungry and wander off to find the kitchen. It’s still far too early for anyone to be awake, especially since the long journey back all of yesterday, but you couldn’t sleep in the huge bed no matter how much softer it is than your mattress at home.

Nanase has his back turned, busy coaxing the fire in the kitchen back to life when you creep in and cough to get his attention. After calming down and realizing you are not a ghost, he offers to share his breakfast with you. You end up sneaking a few bites of the leftovers from the larder and talking with him, finding out that he enjoys keeping a flock of chickens and came here a few months ago to earn money.

He sneaks you out of the kitchen once more of the servants arrive and makes you promise to come visit again when you’re free, unaware that Reo means to have you added to his court soon.

NIKO finds you when you get lost in the lower levels. As an undercover member of the Royal Guard, he all but drags you back to your rooms lecturing you about how to find your way, and promises to have a map delivered soon. He’s flustered when you laugh and compliment his knowledge, does he know of any secret passages?

Well, he reasons with himself, you probably should know about those because you and Reo are so… close. (He ignores the jealous twist that comes with remembering that, he’s been ignored as part of his job for so long that you’d think he’d be used to it by now.)

If he turns the lamp’s wick down on purpose so he has an excuse to hold your hand in the dark passages built into the walls, then no one needs to know.

KAISER is the heir from the nearby land of Munchen, here for a diplomatic negotiation that Reo completely forgot. At the end of your first week in the palace, he asks you to dance, butting in front of Reo to do so and taking your hand before you can blink.

As you spin on the polished floor, he leans in and whispers something in your ear that you can’t quite catch. He laughs and leads you off the floor to a sulking Reo. While Kaiser’s admirers gossip behind their fans and send you scathing glares, you try to conceal the note he slipped under the ruffle of your sleeve.

You slip out for a breath of air later, when Reo has released you from his iron grip, and meet up with Kaiser in the gardens. Besides the moonlit pon, he clips two blue roses and tucks one in your hair, the other gets tucked in his jacket.

He sends you a bouquet of them the day he and his company leave, inviting you to come visit whenever you desire.

NESS is part of Kaiser’s delegation, always staring at you and Kaiser together. When Reo and Kaiser are both needed in some meeting about trade routes, he’s left to have tea with you, alone.

You think he must hate you because he’s always glaring, but he just assumes this feeling must be your fault and places the blame squarely on your shoulders. Whatever methods you used to ensnare Kaiser won’t work on him, he lectures, getting so heated he only stops when he knocks your teacup out of your hand and spills the hot liquid all over your lap. He doesn’t care about you, really, him mopping it up is because he’s a gentleman, unlike you, and underhanded tactics are beneath him (they aren’t, but he says they are).

Mark his words, he’ll figure out what you’re up to before long, and Kaiser will acknowledge him again. He tosses his soiled handkerchief on the table and storms out, leaving you confused and with a handkerchief to return.

KUON is part of a faction secretly plotting to overthrow Reo and install a new government. Kuon hates the aristocracy, thinks they’re all a bunch of stuck up pigs out of touch with common people, but when he meets you, he starts to rethink.

He tries to reason that it’s because you’re not really a noble, you were raised by ordinary people just like him, but he can’t deny it. He begins thinking of ways to let you escape when the revolution happens, maybe spirit you away somewhere safe where it’s just the two of you and you can start over again.

But when the signal is given before he’s ready, he can’t stop ugly desperation from coursing through him, tearing him away from his assigned post despite the shouts of his accomplices. When he finds Reo holding you (thankfully unhurt) while a hastily bandaged Niko struggles to unlock the door to an escape passage with fingers slippery from blood, Nagi draws his sword and steps forward.

As long as he lives, Kuon doesn’t think he’ll be able to forget the shock of betrayal on your face when you see him in the colors of the uprising.

BAROU leads a contingent of knights and is probably the only person who can win against three insurgents with a ceremonial smallsword and no armor whatsoever. He bursts into the royal chambers, decimates another small squad with the weapons he gathered from the first three, and breaks down the door to the escape.

He insists on remaining behind, saying he’ll escape later, and hauls a bookshelf in front of the broken panel. The last you see of him is his broad back, radiating comfort and confidence that someone so strong is looking after you.

Barou will never tell anyone this, but he thought of you after he was overwhelmed and captured, eventually gathering the strength to escape and reunite with you later on.

HIYORI is the safehouse keeper. He opens the door and lets your group topple in, out of the freezing rain, and immediately begins handing out towels and bowls of hot soup. His cottage is well hidden in the forest outside the palace, so he, Reo, and a few more knights sit down to pore over maps and discuss escape routes, leaving you to drink your soup and doze off.

A while later, he wakes you with a gentle shake and offers a change of clothes into something more practical. It turns out that everything else is already taken by the rest, so he fishes out some of his own clothes, including his best wool cloak. When you protest and say you couldn’t possibly dream of taking it away from him, he laughs and says he’s coming with you.

He’s served his purpose here and the rebels will find this place eventually and realize what happened, so it’s not safe to stay behind. You flee through the forest, quietly comforted by each other’s presence.

KURONA gets busy rebandaging Niko’s wound and applying a salve to stop bleeding and infection before he gets around to the rest of you. When he’s finished, he sits next to you on the chest in the corner of the room (the chairs have all been commandeered by those in the strategy meeting) and lets you doze off on his shoulder.

When you’re on the run, he sits next to you and makes shadow puppets so you smile. Every so often when there’s a river near wherever you’re camping for the night, he always cuts himself a fishing rod and sits on the bank.

You’re the only one allowed to join him for some comfortable silence, because everyone else is “too noisy” and scares all the fish away. Really, he just wants to spend some time with you braiding strips of grass together and nobody else to bother you two.

SHIDOU nearly gets stabbed by Yukimiya, who’s got that night’s first watch. Anri wants to pack up and leave, saying he’s dangerous, but he explains that Sae Itoshi has sent him after hearing about the rebellion in the capital.

The Itoshi duchy is still untouched by the insurgents, partially because of its notoriously impenetrable mountain roads and cold seas. This late into fall, travel to and fro slows to a trickle, but Shidou promises that he can navigate just fine and that his lord is still loyal to Prince Reo, saying that the rebellion sent a letter threatening to cut off vital supplies to the duchy if Duke Sae doesn’t comply.

Seeing as the roads are nearly impassable and he already imported necessary goods to survive the winter, Sae ordered the messenger thrown in chains and is currently feigning ignorance. Your group can stay for the winter or just make a quick stop before seeking asylum somewhere else, doesn’t that beat sleeping on the ground?

Reo is skeptical, so Shidou turns to you and asks: Will you trust him and Sae? His eyes and teeth glint a little too much for your comfort in the dim firelight, but what other choice do you have? Ever since he’s joined your group, you can feel eyes on you too much for your comfort.

AIKU, the bandit leader who blocks the only clear pass to the Itoshi duchy. He proposes a deal: one person stays behind with them while the rest can go on, and nobody’s blood melts snow tonight. Nobody is happy with that deal, but when Aiku points at you, things turn ugly.

After Shidou nearly breaks his nose, Niko’s crossbow bolt buries itself in a nearby tree, and everyone else unsheaths a blade of some sort, he takes back his offer and insists on coming with you.

As it turns out, Sae needs more soldiers to defend against the insurrectionists, so puts Aiku in charge of the very pass you took to get to his stronghold after a brief test. Aiku winks at you when he leaves, promising to keep you safe at any cost, if you’ll nurse him better if he gets injured.

SAE lets you in, out of the cold and into the… cold? Well, it turns out that the coal mines have been closed due to earthquakes in the past several years and he was planning on getting more fuel before the attack happened… and it put a bit of a wrench in his plans.

And the Itoshi duchy’s been bleeding money recently, because merchants have discovered that they can charge through the nose for food shipments and, without any supervision from Prince Reo (despite the many, many, many letters he’s written), get away with ridiculous upcharges. But now that he’s here, the prince surely will discuss some legislation to prevent this from happening again and perhaps some compensation for past years, between planning his escape, of course.

Sae leads the way through stone corridors bustling with servants bundled in thick coats and separates each of you into rooms to let you rest before the first of the meetings. Oddly enough, when you get to your room, there’s a roaring fire keeping the whole room toasty and a nearly-boiling bath waiting for you.

RIN is Sae’s younger brother, guarding the messenger sent from the rebels. It’s obvious, when you see him, that he thinks this is below him.

He tells them not to bother when Isagi and Bachira try questioning the prisoner–he only talks in his sleep. At the prisoner’s horrified look, Rin eventually caves to you asking and explains all he knows, which is a combination of nonsense babbling and vitally useful information.

It turns out that, save Anri, the rest of the council Reo set up to govern in his absence has turned traitor. Calling themselves the JFA, they intend to take over the kingdom and live easy lives at the kingdom’s expense. You’re so excited at being useful for once in this escapade that you grab both his hands and excitedly thank him, before rushing off to tell the others.

When you’re gone and the prisoner goes back to sulking, Rin carefully presses his hands together where you held them, lingering on how your touch felt.

NOA, as it turns out, is prepared for your arrival. As king of the neighboring kingdom of Munchen, he explains that Barou managed to escape and explained all of what happened to him. He was still a little skeptical on taking you in before Kaiser and Ness persuaded him to.

He calls a strategy meeting with the leaders of four other nations and begins talking with each of them: Julian Loki, Marc Snuffy, Lavinho, and Chris Prince. All agree to help, noting the threat that recognizing an illegitimate government poses to their own authority. Thus begins you learning swordplay and archery from the masters.

EGO is Noa’s advisor. He persuades Noa to back Reo’s campaign to retake his kingdom and even personally implements a training regimen to whip the small squadron of Reo’s troops who managed to escape into shape, dubbing it “Blue Lock.”

When asked by Anri how he plans to storm the castle with such a small team, he responds it’s obvious that he intends to wake and use the dragon causing the earthquakes in the Itoshi duchy to their advantage.

Wait, the what, exactly?!
