C.S. Lewis & the Playful God
C.S. Lewis & the Playful God
When my grandchildren were younger, we played a game where everything would be “normal” and I would without warning say “you don’t need to be afraid of me, because I’m not…” [transformational pause, followed with a growl] “… an ogre!” The kids would squeal and hightail it for cover where they were safe while I briefly lumbered about for a moment. It was much fun, and if Jesus tarries, perhaps…

The View: Understanding the True Nature of Reality Through Jesus' Teachings
Embracing a Life Aligned with God’s Truth In Christianity, the importance of having a correct view—an understanding of the true nature of reality as revealed through Jesus’ teachings—cannot be overstated. A correct view shapes our beliefs, guides our actions, and determines the fruits we produce in our lives. Jesus emphasizes the necessity of seeing and understanding the world through the lens…

Divine Order in God's Kingdom: Importance of Apostolic Authority and Ordinances
One of the criticisms against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the belief that since the time of Jesus Christ and the original apostles, the Christian Church no longer needs modern-day prophets and apostles.
Photo by Kieran Yates on Unsplash The great historian Will Durrant once said, “In my youth I wanted freedom. In my mature years I want order.” There is nothing so important in the kingdom of God as order; yet the tendency today is to resist law and order, which must be maintained in the kingdom of God if we are to be pleasing in the sight of the Lord. “Be one,” the Lord said, “and if you are not…

Nature of God
Hi I am so so sorry but for some reason Tumblr isn't letting me reply to asks, so for all the sweet people took me up on my offer, I really hope you see these and dont think I just ignored you.
So, for the person who wanted to know what the words used in their textbook to describe the nature of God meant, here you go.
omnipotent means all powerful, the prefix omni means all and the suffix potent comes from the latin word potentum meaning powerful
omniscient mean all knowing, the suffix scient comes from the latin word scio, which means i know
omnibenevolent means all loving, comes from the latin words bene and velle, meaning 'well' and 'to wish' respectively, which were combined to become the phrase 'bene volent' which meant will wishing, and was adopted by the French to mean kind and generous
transcendent - means beyond human comprehension, originates with the latin word transcendere meaning climbing over
thank you so much for your question! at the risk of sound like a massive nerd (we are so far beyond that at this point) I love researching Latin root word. When we used to do weekly spelling tests in school, my party trick was telling the class where the words came from. why didn't i have many friends? who knows!

Gladness in Song
I’ve been listening to Christmas music this morning. The hymn, “Joy to the World,” lifts my spirits. This is a season of great gladness, not just a season of waiting and pondering. Penned by Isaac Watts in 1719, “Joy to the World” not only captures the essence of Christmas but also serves as a powerful devotional guide for us during this sacred time.  It holds a profound message about the nature…

Embracing God's Love and Transcendence: Discovering the Divine's Unconditional Love and Nature of God
The Nature of God is a complex and multifaceted concept that has been debated and discussed by theologians, philosophers, and ordinary people for centuries. There is no one definitive answer to the question of what the nature of God is, as different religions and cultures have different understandings of God.

However, there are some common characteristics that are often ascribed to God in many traditions:-
1.Omnipotence- One of the most basic attributes of God is omnipotence, which means that God is all-powerful. This means that God is capable of doing anything that is logically possible. God is not constrained by any physical or natural laws. For example, God could create a universe out of nothing, or God could raise someone from the dead.
2.Omniscience- Another important attribute of God is omniscience, which means that God is all-knowing. This means that God has knowledge of everything that has ever happened, is happening, and will ever happen. God knows everything about the past, present, and future. God also knows everything about every person and every thing in the universe.
3.Omnipresence- Omnipresence means that God is present everywhere at the same time. God is not confined to one place or location. God is present in every part of the universe, and God is present even in the smallest and most insignificant things.
4.Holiness- Holiness is one of the most important attributes of God in many religions. Holiness means that God is set apart from everything else in creation. God is perfect and pure in all ways. God is not affected by sin or evil. God is the ultimate standard of goodness and righteousness. 5.Love- Love is another essential attribute of God in many religions. God is love. This means that God is kind, merciful, and compassionate. God loves all of creation, including humans. God is forgiving and wants to restore relationships with humans.
Tumblr media
6.Transcendence- Transcendence means that God is beyond or above the created world. God is not part of the universe, but rather is the creator and sustainer of the universe. God is not limited by time or space.
7.Immanence- Immanence means that God is present within the created world. God is involved in the world and cares about what happens to it. God is working to redeem creation and bring it to perfection.
The nature of God is a concept that has been pondered by theologians, philosophers, and ordinary people for centuries. There is no one definitive answer to the question of what the nature of God is, as different religions and cultures have different understandings of God.
