On the latest episode of Morgan’s Variety podcast author Barry Brown joins us to discuss his book, Humanity: The World Before Religion, War & Inequality. War between groups of people is only 6,000 years old. As such, human history is a two-part story. The first story is the tale of how human civilization thrived for 3 million years without war. The second begins 6,000 years ago when the very first war changed history and divided the world.

You ever know someone in your life that you just can’t quite tell if they are a good person or a bad person? Like two sides. They can be sweet and considerate and always with helping words. You can just tell that they have a warm heart and that they care deeply about those they love or care about. They have a presence to them that you just seem to want to welcome.
But then there’s this other darker side. A more violent side. A side that despite how warm and good they are they come from dark places that shaped them. Like a child, we all start out soft like clay. As we get older it hardens and how it was shaped or how we were raised eventually hardens fully. It doesn’t change who they are deep down but they live through life as a...sculpture mind you, that cannot change. A shape left to navigate a world that it will never fit to.
I say dangerous because it’s like a spectrum. The further you are or go on one end, there is an equal and opposite side at the other end. The warmer and kinder and good you are on that end of that spectrum the more potential you have to end up exactly on the opposite side.

This…this is my life…of course there are certain gender specific alterations necessary…but this…sigh. But unfortunately all things like this, are only “allowed” to be for women, because they are the “emotional ones”. When did that happen? When did the stoic persona of a male become that which is inherently necesary for us to portray? Are we not beings of humanity just the same? Its bad enough people are debased on the melanin levels of their epidermis, their physical ability, their physical attributes, sexual orientation, but now their ability-or lack thereof-to show emotion comes in to question and all the “Tom Dick and Harrys” feel the need to bash and ridicule men for their show of emotion unless it be that of anger or rage. Truly baffles me. Yes the times are changing especially with the advent of a more openly homosexual community. But that in and of it self causes issues with the older generations who teach this ideology in the first place. Their prejudicial attitudes towards homosexuality causes any notion of femininity in a male to be immediately irradicated. Which in turn forces the male populace reared in these conditions to be like a soda bottle, constantly shaken to the point that eventually the pressure is too much and they explode. What manner of explosion that occurs is difficult to pinpoint. And the reprecussions of such…could be dire. All of this simply because they are unable to fully express their emotions the way they need to, the way that nature initially intended. Just like the concept of rape and how people say “oh men can’t be raped”, why is that? There are a plethera of reasons why a man would not report a rape, an important one being his image. How does it look if a man, say a football player is taken advantage of by a woman? Not only would the collective call him a liar and say something to the effect of he liked it, or that it never could have happen, it may even be turned on him and he be made out to be the predator rather than the victim. All because such vulnerability is not indicitve of the male persona. Not to mention it is apparently cannon that all men are DTF and only think with mini me.
I am realizing I could go on for hours but sleep is a necessity as I have to hit the grind bright and early. To you who have read this in its entirety, thank you for listening to my ramblings.

"No role models and I'm here right now No role models to speak of Searchin' through my memory, my memory, I couldn't find one" ~ J. Cole We all have role models. People we aspire to be like, act like, live like. The only difference is knowing and acknowledging your role models. We are a product of the factors we choose to embrace in our environment #naturevsnuture. Make a difference today. Engage in a conversation with a young one in your neighborhood. Share your life and deepest aspirations. #mentor and #inspire a young heart. #IMPAACT

// just a quick note My internet has been jerking me around the last few days, but doesn’t seem to work since last night pretty much at all. I’m using the 3G on my phone at the minute but I can’t stay on it very long before my data runs out. I guess It’s because we cancelled our Virgin Media contract, though we still have it up until the end of June apparently they’re going to be assholes and mess us around until then. Please be patient while I fix this and I’ll get around to replies ASAP THANKS GUYS
