With pride month coming to an end, I would like to recognize all of the LGBTQ+ people who do not feel pride and say that you are valid.
Everyone has a different journey of discovering who you are, self acceptance, pride, and really everything. No matter where you are on your journey, how you feel about yourself does not change that you’re valid as who you are, no matter what.

Anyone else wake up and ask, "What gender do I wanna be today?" No? Just me?

i don't really know who else to go to for this, so if you want to just answer to point me in the right direction, that would also be great. i'm a staunchly NB person and i hate being viewed as either masculine or feminine. i used to be attracted to men, but i don't think i am anymore - only women and other NB people. would i want to identify as bi? gay? i'm sorry, i'm so lost. i don't want to take a label that i shouldn't....but thank you in advance for reading, and i hope you have a good day
i think polysexual is the preferred term in similar cases? it says nothing about which genders you’re attracted to or what your gender is, just states that you’re attracted to multiple specific genders
bi is also an option, though most people assume that to include attraction to men

PREACH
🌸 there’s no such thing as being ‘too feminine’ to be nonbinary
☀️ there’s no such thing as being ‘too masculine’ to be nonbinary
💜 there’s no such thing as being ‘too androgynous’ to be nonbinary
🎆 nonbinary people can look however they want to look and still be nonbinary because a person’s gender identity is not determined by a their appearance!

I sent some asks to nbsupport awhile back about "feeling male" and they gave very nice and helpful answers, but I can't shake the feeling that my obsession with yaoi at the same time I was questioning my gender identity had an effect on how I felt about myself in relation to maleness. Is it possible that, by constantly projecting myself onto male characters in yaoi, I tricked myself into thinking I was a boy? Sorry if this is offensive or ignorant.
In all honesty, I don’t think the characters you related to when you were younger reveal anything super deep about your gender, I really wouldn’t sweat it too much. And it’s pretty common for trans mlm to not be fully cognizant of their gender until being exposed to instances of m/m relationships in media— that is, being presented with m/m relationships that you’re specifically meant to relate to and project onto. So yaoi could very well have had that kind of influence.
But I think it apropos to point out that it’s pretty hard to “trick” yourself into thinking you’re trans given the immense pressure on us to identify with the gender we’re assigned. Being a trans non-binary person is confusing as hell and sometimes it’s hard to separate out what’s genuine from what’s pressure to conform to gender norms and perform gender roles in order to be taken seriously as trans, but usually the “oh god I’m a Fake Trans” feelings are a false alarm/the result of cisnormative pressure. It’s very unlikely that you just tricked yourself into thinking you’re a given gender because of yaoi, I’d say you’re fine.

@nbsupport Oh hey!! I’ve been thinking of redesigning the nb flag too! Specifically the agender one since it’s just a rip off of the aromantic flag. These are my ideas:

The color meanings for the one with the black stripe, in order:
-the fact that we will not be erased (Black is the darkest color and therefore the hardest to get out, that's why I chose it)
-loyalty to our lgbt siblings
- the white represents our livelihoods and spirit. It's a reminder that we'll survive what's to come no matter how hard it is
- truthfulness to ourselves, which is required to realize one is nonbinary and to take steps in transitioning
- strength and independence from the binary
The color meanings for the one with the peace sign are the same, but there’s an added meaning behind the symbol. It represents our goal, to live in peace. Without harassment, without being forced into one gender or another, out of danger. I made the peace sign black to keep the meaning of the color black in the flag since I think it’s meaning is really important (especially today).
NB flag redesigns! I’m leaning towards the top one at the moment, and I would love feedback.
On the top one, the color meanings are:
Green and yellow/orange: Unaligned nonbinary people
White: Agender/neutral people
Purple: Male and female aligned nonbinary people
The bottom left is the same as the top but with the colors tweaked a bit. The last one just kind of looks nice but doesn’t have much meaning.
Once again, I would love feedback from other nonbinary people about any of the designs!

don't answer this if you're not comfortable but how did you figure out you are a nonbinary lesbian?? asking bc im a lesbian but questioning my gender
Well tbh, I’ve figured out my gender before figuring out I’m a lesbian (i thought I was bi for a good while).
For me, it was mostly not feeling quite right being a woman, and I tried the genderfluid label for a while, until I realised that I’m not a man, either.
I didn’t really like being referred to as ‘she’, ‘girl’, ‘lady, etc. (tho obv you can use she/her and he/him if you’re nb too! it just wasn’t for me), and because I have dysphoria it sort of...helped? to cement that I’m not cis (though I do still have doubts, and obviously you don’t need dysphoria to be trans).
It’s all about finding what’s right for you, I think - it took me almost a year of bouncing around labels and feelings until i settled on nonbinary (lesbian came around six months later).
I’d follow some nonbinary blogs, like @nblesbians and @nbsupport - seeing other nb people post about their experiences can be a lot of help.
#i hope this was helpful#im not 100% sure HOW I came to figure out who I am so sorry if this is all over the place#if you have more questions you can always IM me!#anon#crystal asks#Anonymous

Do you have any recs for LGBT related blogs? The ones I've seen are too asexual oriented and I fear they're inclusionists. I'm a trans nonbinary poc, so if there are blogs especifically about nonbinary issues then even better lol
tbh i don't know of many good lgbt blogs in general, but i mod a mogai hell free nb support blog @nbsupport with a couple other nb ppl!

For all enbies during this holiday season:
What others choose to believe about your gender in no way will invalidate it. There’s nothing wrong with who you are and anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is absolutely wrong. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season,
You will always be valid
