#ndrv3/class 79 au
Note
I've been meaning to ask, is Kokichi's black ring meant to be an ace ring? I only ask because it's black and on the finger one would typically wear an ace ring.
Tumblr media
This is probably funnier if Kaito doesn't know about Alter Ego yet
TL;DR: yes!! Very happy you noticed~

Ok, so I know you like yanderes, a have made a few yandere au’s for MLB, but now I’m very curious about how you would do a yandere au for NDRV3? (Might just be me but Kaede is best girl as such my brain thinks she deserves deadly protective suitors 😉)
Well, is it one or two yanderes, or many?
If many, like my mariharem au, then we need to throw out the killing game all together. I love killing games as much as the next person, but the killing game takes away from the yanderes, if that makes sense? I'm a big believer in, the more life-threatening plot is the A story, and the less life-threatening character driven plot is the B story. The Killing Game is more likely to kill people, so that's the A story, and yanderes are actually less likely to kill, so that's the B story.
(I'm using life-threatening very loosely, because not all stories are as murder focused as Danganronpa. In more tame mediums, it would be closer to "challenging the status quo".)
So, if it's a harem situation, I'd put them in a Class 79 AU or similar.
We're assuming Kaede is the darling, right? Here's a list of the most likely to be suitors:
Shuuichi: love at first sight, blushy subby yandere, but he's not weird about it.
Maki: gives her a chance to be more than a killer, defends Maki from others accusations (probably more, I haven't played through their route in the talent development game)
Kokichi: she's super interesting >:D
Korekiyo: she reminds him of SiStEr
Rantaro: would probably be more of a platonic yandere, a big protector from other yanderes
Keebo: maybe? if she sees him as more than a robot, I can see those emotions getting possessive, especially if others treat him bad or Mui/any other tech genius wants to rip him open and look at his insides. subby
Mui: SHE FED SHUUICHI HAIR
Angie: she's not a yandere, but the moment people start paying a lot of attention to Kaede, Angie is plotting her death and that makes her the enemy.
Shirogane: I guess???? sure
This is not a group that would work together. they'd kill each other. maybe one or two would team up, but it's a freeforall murder fest.
Junko is watching from the sidelines like "I didn't even have to touch them for them to implode. :/"
If it's just one or two yanderes, I'm not sure how that would go. I do believe in taking them out of the killing game, but I love the idea of a yandere talking others into murder to get rid of their rivals.

When everyone tries to convince Makoto/”Shuichi” to go into the “Neo World Program” (not the real one but the Chapter 4 fake)
Everyone: Shuichi, why won’t you go inside?
Makoto/”Shuichi”: *deadpan* Failed dating sim.
Everyone: Wha- *Everyone.exe has stopped working* *confusion downloaded*
Makoto/”Shuichi”: *glares like he’s remembering something unpleasant (because he is)* Failed. Dating. Sim.
(The only one who isn’t ENTIRELY confused is Junko/”Kaede” but even she doesn’t have the full details because she wasn’t there, just has her analysis)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I’m gonna make a new blog for this. Do you guys want it to be for this specific version of the au or the undercover aus in general? I need to know before I make it.

If v3 killing game never happened my friend suggested touko being v3 teacher and if i may can I ask for some headcanons please and thank you I love the work you do and hope you have a great day😆
I love this AU wow XD have a great day as well!
At first, being a teacher at the rebuilt Hope’s Peak Academy seemed like it wouldn’t be too awful. Komaru was a teacher there, too, so it wasn’t like she would have nobody to talk to. However, that was before she met her first class of the day.
She, unfortunately, was homeroom teacher for them as well as literature teacher, long before she was fully awake. She was writing as they all came in, but checking on them already shouting and joking around loudly gave her a bleak outlook for the year.
Some of them, at least, seemed somewhat interested once class started. A couple others, like the red-eyed girl and the boy with the hat, probably would’ve been if they hadn’t been distracted by two of the other students.
She was able to keep their attention more and more throughout the year, but they completely exhausted her. Still, she liked them enough to not ask someone else to be their homeroom teacher instead.
They could be a bit much at times- like Kokichi antagonizing literally everyone, herself included, or Tenko being ready to throw down at any minute- but she could always rein them in eventually, and they passed her class, so it was alright with her. Besides, right after her, they were Komaru’s problem.

ok ok this is not a ship but! imagine ahoge squad. there's naegi, hinata, komaeda and matsuda at first. then, komaru joins. then saihara, kibo and kaede. then komaeda and matsuda FIGHT, komaeda gets kicked out and they have munakata join them. ("but he doesn't have an ahoge," saihara notices. komaru puts her finger to his mouth, then pulls out a bottle of hair gel. "not for long," she says. kibo promptly overheats. naegi and kaede kinda die. hinata and matsuda want to die.)
AHOGE SQUAD,,, OK but this sounds so cute.
Consider; a non-despair AU, where the students of the Gifted Inmates Academy are transferred to Hope’s Peak as the 79th Class. Kyosuke, who founded the Inmates Academy, is sent back to HPA to teach them. Kiibo is built by Iruma, Souda and Chihiro around 6 months into the year. Komaru becomes part of the reserve course. Hinata does not become Izuru Kamakura (gestures to this fic I wrote as an example of what could happen instead). Kizakura is the teacher of Class 78.
The ahoge squad was originally the lucky student squad of Komaeda, Naegi and Amami, who all bonded over how weird their classmates were, as well as the fact they are all Lucky Students. They notice Matsuda and offer to let him sit with them in the cafeteria, which he only does to get them to leave him alone. He says nothing and just reads his manga in the corner, but is considered a member of the squad. The reserve course kids are eventually allowed to mix with the main course kids (read: natsumi and komaru being best friends and sneaking out, unwilling hinata is dragged into it) so that’s two more members. kiibo is curious about what’s happening. he’s the one who thinks it’s a squad for ahoges, due to misunderstanding what they’re doing, so he excitedly goes to grab Kaede and Saihara. The group of them all bonding in the cafeteria over their uncontrollable hair and actually do become friends. Munakata walks by one day and Komaru ropes him into helping them, so they can all plan daytrips out with a legal adult.
“But, Naegi-san,” Kiibo protests, his fans whirring with embarrassment as he watched the young female drag the faculty member over to their table, “He isn’t...”“Huh? Isn’t what?” she replied, blinking slowly, her grip like iron on Munakata’s arm. He still doesn’t know what was happening, or what these kids wanted from him.“He doesn’t have our code,” Saihara added, tapping his fingers on the table, right next to his baseball cap that rested there, having only just retrieved it from Kaede, who took great pleasure in stealing and wearing it, much to his embarrassment.“...Oh! You mean this?” Komaru blinked and pointed to the antennae on her head. Saihara nodded. A wide grin spread across her face. “C’mon, Munakata-san! I’m taking you somewhere!” And so, the brunette dragged the former school council president along, to an unknown location. Once the two were gone, the Ahoge Squad could only laugh at the poor man’s almost scared expression.
He returned later after a visit from Leon, his hair slightly sticky from hair gel and his pride ripped from him involuntarily.

headcanons time!
buckle up im boutta explain what the HELL is goin on in this blog.
Hope’s peak academy au! with classes 77 (sdr2), 78 (dr1) and 79 (ndrv3)
Just some funny school shenanigans. No killing game :)
however.... the Izuru Kamukura Project was still initiated on Hajime, the reserve course exists as well as the elementary department
Time to aimlessly spew headcanons! Most of them will probably be about hajime or izuru
yes, hajime and izuru are like toko and syo. if syo’s tongue can become long then izuru’s hair can become long too. shut up
the world destroyer exists???? well. he’s called the hakaishou (lit. feeling destroyer) Izuru created the software to vent his emotions abt komaeda to them. Carries them around on a laptop, like alter ego.
shuichi CANNOT decide between kaede and kokichi so he’s in a platonic relationship with both. i like saimatsu and omasai
komaru is a part time worker in a nearby coffee shop near hopes peak :) she later enrolls in hpa
the Ulitmate Despair Club, consisting of junko, mukuro, tsumugi and izuru (he was forcibly enrolled into it by junko) they occasionally go to the mall together to steal stuff!
izuru and nagito sometimes visit the warriors of hope :)) kotoko would braid izuru’s hair and izuru would help nagisa with homework,,, nagito would listen to jotaro, monaca and masaru’s stories
that’s all i have for now :)

Hi hi hi, I’ve been reading a lot of your posts about Class 77 adopting Makoto, which is great 10/10 thank you...but now I’m curious, what’s your opinion on the cast of NDRV3 adopting Makoto 👁👁 like, in an AU where they’re Class 79 or something? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️
Hi hi hi hello! Ahah yes I've noticed you popping up in my activity (I love your stuff aaaaahhshsj I'm very flattered you like my silly lil posts-). Ah I'd love to answer this but I haven't um- actually finished V3 yet 👉👈 (I'm still on chapter 1-)
I had an ask similar to this, so I'll file it away for now! Thank you very much for asking though! I appreciate it a lot ^^ I'll be sure to come back to it once I'm done with the game !

NDRV3 HPA AU characterization notes
(also added some additional details on their character designs :D) I already made a character guide of the kids here, but after writing a spontaneously updated fanfic about their school/dorm life, I now have a better grasp of how to portray them in this AU. More under the cut~
Family headcanons here
[Facebook] [Instagram] [Twitter] [Blogger] [Kofi]
The HPA AU comics I’ve been doing admittedly focused more on certain characters, so I’ve hardly thought about how to flesh out the others. To remedy that, I wrote a chatfic that revolved around them as a class and what started as something ‘just for fun’ turned into something a bit more serious, complete with plot and drama (which is strange for something in a chatfic format lol).
Kaede Akamatsu: The cheerful, charismatic and kind pianoholic who promotes friendship and cooperation, earning her the position of Class Representative. Selfless and empathetic to a fault, but can be quite pushy and bossy. Behind her confident facade, Kaede is insecure of not being able to live up to her responsibilities believing that all she’s ever good at is playing the piano, going by a ‘fake it til you make it’ attitude so as not to disappoint the people that relied on her ‘leadership.’ She has a tendency to be tactless towards people when very annoyed or under extreme stress.
Add: While not a very good cook, Kaede is an experienced baker.
Closest friend/s: Shuichi (childhood best friend), Rantaro, Kaito, Maki, Kirumi, Tenko (she is at least good friends with everyone in class tho)
Shuichi Saihara: The meek and soft-spoken detective in training who eventually fills the role of assistant class rep to Kaede. Cool-headed and intelligent, Shuichi shows promise of being proactive and responsible, but has difficulty in asserting himself due to confidence issues. He can be very emotional, prone to easily cry when overwhelmed by negative emotions. He also struggles with depression at times, although he tries to hide it as best he could. To people he is close with, Shuichi can be quite sassy and would joke about his ‘emo aesthetic.’
(When Shuichi wore his hat, his necktie is the standard red one)
Add: Shuichi is an avid fan of all things detective (looks up to Kyoko Kirigiri, has a sizable collection of Nancy Drew Books and Detective Conan Manga, retweets a lot of Sherlock Holmes quotes etc.)
Closest friend/s: Kaede (childhood best friend), Kaito, Maki, Kokichi, Kiibo
Kokichi Ouma: The self proclaimed supreme leader, he is a compulsive liar and prankster, fond of being disruptive and annoying towards his peers. While he tends to lie a lot, it’s not as outrageous and over the top (like in-game), and he would never push the buttons of anyone who was already distressed. Behind his outward unpleasantness, Kokichi cares a lot about his classmates, often calling them out on their bad habits (albeit it’s also in an unpleasant way) and looking out for them in his own unique way (which is subtle, at most). He dreads showing this side of him to class 79, as this was a sign of attachment on his part and this was only reserved to D.I.C.E members initially.
Add: Kokichi doesn’t know how to dance.
Closest friend/s: Rantaro, Shuichi
Maki Harukawa: The surly, unapproachable ‘assassin’ who is the walking definition of a tsundere. She dislikes socializing with her classmates, mostly because of her inability for small talk and difficulty to relate with her peer group as she spent most of her time dealing with children (in the orphanage). Maki is blunt but not unkind, and may be occasionally dismissive but (secretly) greatly appreciates those who reach out to her. Being emotional is Maki’s greatest pet peeve, making her great at compartmentalizing and repressing her emotions.
Add: Maki was physically conditioned and trained to be an assassin but it was for her to be Motion Capture stunt girl for an assassin-centric game. Has not killed anyone in real life, but physically can if desired.
Closest friend/s: Kaito, Shuichi, Kaede
Kaito Momota: The loud-mouthed and passionate astronaut who likes to give pep talks more than Kaede. Kaito pretty much keeps the class lively with his dumb antics. Despite his air of stupidity, he is quite street smart and a good judge of character.  He has patriarchal views on gender roles, naturally irking most of his female peers. Additionally, he is hot-headed, stubborn and very competitive. True to his very upbeat and positive persona though, he dislikes showing weakness/ appearing weak. Kaito suffers from Tuberculosis, hence he coughs a lot.
Add: Kaito makes the best omelettes.
Closest friend/s: Maki, Shuichi, Kaede, Ryoma (one-sided)
Rantaro Amami: The lax and enigmatic adventurer who likes to meme, apart from traveling the world. Rantaro has a big brother vibe to him, but can be quite silly at times. He is fond of recounting experiences about his travels, often retelling them in a more imaginative version. Despite his nonchalant approach on everything, Rantaro is very particular on people’s perspective of him. He craves to be an important figure among his classmates, just like his central role on his siblings’ lives.
Add: Rantaro has a Youtube channel where he makes travel vlogs in the style of Bear Grylls’ Man VS Wild.
Closest friend/s: Tsumugi (middle school bestfriend), Kokichi, Kaede, Kiibo, Korekiyo
Kirumi Tojo: The responsible and mature maid with a strict adherence to her creed on selfless devotion. Kirumi is very capable of doing any (reasonable) task given to her, completing them with practiced efficiency. Taking her talent more seriously, she appears impassive and mechanical to her classmates. Her maid schtick is actually a conscious effort for her; beneath the carefully-maintained frigid and collected persona is a shy and anxious Kirumi with personal whims and ambitions. She has a sense of humor and would sometimes tease her classmates in some way or another (which always takes them by surprise). She can be quite condescending and judgmental when pushed to the limit.
Add: Kirumi is a closet bookworm, and has a collection of cheesy, young adult romance novels (may or may not own some raunchy ones).
Closest friend/s: Ryoma, Kaede
Korekiyo Shinguji: The studious and aloof anthropologist who revels in the beauty of humanity. Kiyo likes to observe people, mentally taking note of the intricacies of human nature, although this hobby of his isn’t taken kindly by some. Ambitious and resourceful, he spends a lot of time reading to further his knowledge. In turn, he is quite socially inept and often scares away any ‘potential friend’ with his intelligent ramblings. He is very close with his sickly older sister, but gets annoyed with her fussiness.
Add: He is a capable illustrator, often adding sketches on his journal of anthropological notes.
Closest friend/s: Rantaro, Gonta, Angie
Tsumugi Shirogane: The quirky cosplayer and talented seamstress with a habit of referencing popular and obscure pop culture stuff. Tsumugi is an avid fan of a lot media, from games to animes to TV shows, both western and japanese, often spending most of her time in her room to indulge in her fandoms. She also has a tendency to break the fourth wall and would reference the ‘NDRV3 canon universe.’ Tsumugi is quite insecure of her geeky side, and is a bag of nerves when under the spotlight. She is cowardly and unable to stand her ground, often playing for both sides in an argument in an effort to please both.
(the only one wearing the HPA uniform without modifications lol)
Add: She is a big fan of Junko Enoshima (a fashion blogger with her own brand of clothing).
Closest friend/s: Rantaro (middle school bestfriend)
Ryoma Hoshi: The stoic and detached Pro Tennis player who is very fond of felines. Ryoma likes to spend most of his time alone and would often disappear to god knows where. He is responsive when in conversation, talking in a melancholic tone. He is profound and insightful, open to giving advice freely to those in need. While very patient, he is vindictive and unforgiving to those who wronged him horribly. His whole family was murdered by a mafia group (leaving him with just the family cat) and he has since personally chased leads that will bring the perpetrators to justice. Despite his pursuit of the killers, he is not interested in delivering justice on his own and merely conducted his own investigation to aid law enforcement.
Add: Ryoma has a folder of cat game apps on his phone, his favorite in particular being Neko Atsume.
Closest friend/s: Kirumi, Gonta
Gonta Gokuhara: The gentle giant with a fascination on animals, particularly insects. Gonta is good-natured (very kind, polite and honest) but naive and childish. In spite of this, he cannot be easily tricked by Kokichi and would sometimes even join in on roasting him. He wants to be a gentleman and really tries his best to exhibit qualities of such. While not academically smart (being raised in the wild), he has extensive knowledge on flora and fauna. Gonta has bouts of self-doubt, believing himself to be incapable of anything. He can be very hard on himself and would do reckless things to prove himself.
Add: Contrary to most of his classmates’ impression on him, Gonta is not technologically challenged. He plays Overwatch in his free time (he mains Bastion).
Close friend/s: Ryoma, Korekiyo
Miu Iruma: The lewd and brash inventor with onion skin. Miu is outspoken and campy, often considered obnoxious by her classmates. She likes to make dirty jokes and projects an air of self-importance, but is also quick to deflate when reprimanded or talked back at. Being neglected her whole life, Miu wants attention, hence her over the top personality but this in turn made her a deplorable person. She spends most of her time building knickknacks to stave off the loneliness she feels. Over time, she does try to be less of a difficult person.
Add: Miu doesn’t know how to swim or ride a bike (but she can invent something that will keep her afloat on water and something that can keep her balanced on the bike).
Close friend/s: Kiibo
Kiibo Idabashi (not a Robot): The well-meaning and pacifistic Robotics Engineer that has a difficulty in relating with his fellow humans. Kiibo has lived a very sheltered life and has not been exposed to any social interaction with his age group prior to his enrollment at Hope’s Peak, making him quite stiff and robotic. He is very shy and apprehensive at speaking in class or called to recitation. He is also wimpy, but can get very defensive of his robotic creations.
Add: Kiibo missed out a lot on his childhood, so class 79 would often indulge him on what he was deprived of (like having pizza, playing tag and watching animated films).
Close friend/s: Miu, Shuichi, Rantaro
Tenko Chabashira: The energetic and cheerful aikido master who loves to defend girls from the degenerate MENaces. Tenko loves to be active, often encouraging the girls to exercise (especially those with a sedentary lifestlye). A fiery character, she wears her emotions on her sleeves and reacts strongly on impulse. She has a on a hair trigger temper, especially if the aggressor involves a guy and has a tendency to be physically violent. Tenko’s distaste towards men in general stems from a dark past: she and her mother suffered abuse from her own father. Her mother was eventually murdered by her father in front of her (at a young age) and after her father was subsequently locked up, she was taken in by her mother’s friend who was matriarchal.
Add: She is an adept shogi and chess player.
Close friend/s: Himiko, Angie, Kaede
Himiko Yumeno: The resident sloth who also happens to be a magician (er… mage). Himiko is very lethargic, dislikes doing almost any physical activity, often trying to weasel her way out of doing assigned tasks and the like. She isn’t dismissive of social interaction though, and is quite talkative when you start a conversation with her. She loves to watch youtube videos and web series, particularly korean drama. She is good at math, and would tutor Angie and Tenko when pestered enough.
Add: Himiko is ambidextrous, and can seamlessly use chopsticks with her left hand.
Close friend/s: Tenko, Angie
Angie Yonaga: The eccentric and bubbly artist with a deep devotion to an obscure religion. Angie is a pious devotee of Atua, and is willing to provide for the spiritual needs of her classmates. She loves mentioning unusual habits and customs from her island home, such as blood sacrifices and orgies. Hardly anything fazes her, this nonchalance and ignorance being considered sinister by some of her peers. Even with the best intentions in mind, she sometimes used religion to get what she wanted.
Add: Angie owns four horses (named War, Famine, Pestilence and Death) that Hope’s Peak allowed her to keep in school (for some reason). Their stables were located at the student/staff parking lot.
Close friend/s: Korekiyo, Tenko, Himiko
Great Gozu: The former Ultimate Wrestler is now the homeroom teacher of Class 79A. Despite his intimidating physique, he is gentle, patient and very supportive. He becomes quickly attached to class 79A and is quite protective of them.
--
And now for the romantic relationships~ (I inadvertently retconned some stuff from the HPA AU comics in the fanfic version apparently, I’m not very good at slow burn lol)
Kaede//Kirumi: Both of them are altruistic, though one is out of pure selflessness while the other due to moral obligation. Kaede is the first to develop a crush on the other, mostly out of physical attraction but it’s Kirumi that first falls in love between the two of them. Kirumi is mostly drawn to Kaede’s comforting presence and empathic nature, and is impressed with the pianist’s diligence in perfecting her musical craft. Kaede admires the maid’s dedicated work ethic, and is very enamored with Kirumi’s elegance and grace. Kaede’s considerate nature holds her back from pursuing Kirumi head-on out of respect for the maid’s seemingly unshakeable adherence to her creed of selfless devotion, while Kirumi struggles internally in balancing her whims and sticking to her creed. This results in them tiptoeing around their feelings towards each other.
Shuichi//Kokichi: One lies while the other exposes the truth. Kokichi, despite his growing interest on the detective, denies his feelings. Shuichi, initially unconfident about his chances with the supreme leader, takes the leap and reveals his feelings first. Kokichi is drawn to Shuichi’s intelligence, good-natured personality and cute face (and he may or may not have a detective kink). Shuichi is drawn to Kokichi’s complex personality, considering it a mystery puzzle only he could solve. Both Kokichi and Shuichi suffer from insecurities that the other deserve better than themselves; Kokichi believes Shuichi wouldn’t fall for him because of his complicated personality while Shuichi thinks Kokichi was in love with the more appealing Kaito, somewhat resigned he has no chance.
Kaito//Maki: Polar opposites and yet both hide the same thing; one relies on outward emotion to hide a weakness while the other represses emotion to hide a weakness. Kaito is greatly drawn to Maki’s independent and capable mindset but struggles with his own sexist mindset. Maki falls for Kaito’s endearing personality, but struggles to make sense of her romantic feelings. Eventually, they both overcome their weaknesses. Maki is the first to fall for the other, and while she is also the one to confess her feelings first, it was Kaito who first changed his ways, learning to be less sexist. Maki avoids Kaito when her feelings toward him intensified, but this unfazed the astronaut and remained wooing her consistently.
Tenko//Himiko: Polar opposites that balance each other out. Tenko and Himiko may have been the first pair to be immediately drawn to each other but they are the last pair to be officially together. Tenko’s more active lifestyle gets Himiko to reconsider her lethargic nature while Himiko’s relaxed attitude grounds Tenko’s overactive nature. Tenko was drawn to Himiko from the get-go, and while the smaller girl was initially annoyed by the aikido master being insistent, she eventually warms up to her. They subsequently act like girlfriends, but surprisingly their ‘official’ get together doesn’t happen til later.
[others to be added lol]

“Ultimates Play” (a.k.a. Let’s Player AU)
Hey, Mod Snake here! So I realize that I’ve been sort of lax on my part in the 2K celebration. This has been mostly to the fact that I’ve been working on my senior thesis, and it’s been absolute hell trying to motivate myself to do anything with that nightmare hanging over my head. But now the thesis is officially over and I can finally get around to posting something I’ve been meaning to post for a while: an AU concept called “Ultimates Play!” The idea of this AU is similar to the Talent Development Plan ‘verse, except that the DR1, SDR2, and NDRV3 characters share a gaming channel on YouTube called ‘Ultimates Play’. Over the years since it started, the channel has evolved into sort of a Rooster Teeth-style project, with dozens of different series done by many different hosts. There’s a lot to unpack here, so let’s just jump right in!
General Concepts:
As you can imagine, Chiaki was the one to set up the channel; in fact, the channel was originally called “Chiaki’s Gaming Corner”, and the channel URL still reflects this. Hajime quickly became involved in the editing process, since Chiaki would frequently fall asleep before uploading the videos. Chiaki then gradually began introducing her fellow classmates, who had become interested in the games during Class 77’s meet-up times (everyone involved refuses to call them “classes”), as hosts of their own series; before long, this spread to other classes entirely. And thus, Ultimates Play was born.
Junko in this AU is still technically in despair, but the passion for video games she developed after spending some time with Chiaki helps keep her Ultimate Analyst abilities occupied, preventing her from becoming bored enough to lash out at the world. She is still extremely competitive and aggressive, particularly towards Mukuro, but in general it is typically safe to be in the same building as her.
This AU uses the “Class 79” canon for the V3 kids, similar to the Ultimate Talent Development Plan, since the Tragedy doesn’t happen in this AU.
As the channel started to get big, the group decides they need a headquarters in which to stay; they end up building it a few blocks away from Hope’s Peak. Very few of them live in the building full-time, but the building is equipped with dozens of beds anyway just in case they all happen to crash there overnight at the same time. There are also multiple TVs, so that different students can record series at the same time.
The channel is one of the top 10 most subscribed channels on YouTube, due in part to the variety of content. Of the series, Chiaki’s and Ibuki’s typically have the most views, while Celeste’s and Hajime’s have the least views.
Even though Komaru isn’t technically an Ultimate, Makoto and Toko both begged Chiaki until she was allowed to join the channel.
Individual Series:
Makoto and Kyoko have “Detective Training,” in which they play mystery games together; typically these consist of point-and-click adventure games, although sometimes they’ll do other genres if there is a sufficient mystery element. Kyoko almost always figures out the entire mystery from the start, so she basically spends the whole time trying not to spoil the twists and puzzles for Makoto. Shuichi occasionally guest stars, but he’s too self-conscious around Kyoko to make regular appearances.
Sakaya and Kaede share a series where they play rhythm games like DDR, as well as general music-themed games like Rockband; they alternate off randomly between which one is the host, never appearing in the same episode.
Toko’s primary series is “Toko’s Shovelware Spectacular”, in which she plays the worst of the worst games on the iPhone and Android app stores. Komaru makes an appearance every time there’s a multiplayer game, or whenever Toko is so genuinely shocked by a game’s shittiness that she needs a second person to confirm she’s not imagining things.
Neither Togami nor the Ultimate Imposter have a consistent theme for their series (although they tend towards real-time strategy games); however, there is something of a running joke between them. Every time Togami uploads a video on a game, Twogami will then upload a video on the same game, starting off from the same place Togami left off and claiming to be the next installment. Togami is consistently infuriated by this, but he can’t figure out how to stop it. There’s a running debate in the comments about whether the ‘second Togami’ is actually a distinct entity or just Togami playing an elaborate practical joke; this, for Togami, is the worst part of the whole thing.
Ishimaru has a series called “Upholders of Justice”, in which he plays crime-themed games (GTA, Saint’s Row, etc.) while breaking as few laws as the game will allow him to. If you’ve ever seen the Saints Row the Third episode of Monster Factory, it’s sort of like that.
Hifumi and Kazuichi have a shared series called “Love Quest 3000”, in which they play dating sims together; this is ostensibly for the purpose of figuring out how to get better at real romance, but they have yet to achieve any success in this field.
Celeste has a recurring series on gambling games, such as video poker and virtual slot machines. To her eternal fury, they are by far the least-viewed videos on the entire channel; this may be because she always wins, or because her commentary consists almost entirely of A) ‘advice’ on how to win at gambling (which boils down to “be lucky and don’t panic”), and B) reiterations of how successful she is.
While Junko doesn’t actually have a standalone series, there is a playlist named “With Junko” on the channel. This is because, rather than star in her own series, Junko will occasionally crash episodes of other series and serve as a guest commentator for the episode, typically without the approval or knowledge of the players in question. HOWEVER, Junko does co-star in a regular series called “Rose and Thorns”, in which she and Mukuro play co-op games like Portal 2 and New Super Mario Bros. You can probably imagine how well their interactions go.
Hajime did an Undertale LP.
In her continuing effort to be the most meta human being in the universe, Ibuki has only a single ongoing series: “Ibuki Plays Danganronpa”. At no point in the series does she comment on the fact that her fellow Ultimates- and indeed herself- appear in the games; the closest she comes is her DR2 LP, in which she off-handedly remarks on the similarities between herself and Ibuki in the game. There is only one exception: every time game-Ibuki’s corpse is on-screen in Chapter 3, real-Ibuki goes absolutely silent until the scene changes or she turns away. None of the other Ultimates can figure out where the hell she got these games, and she refuses to provide a straight answer.
Hiyoko and Mikan, of all people, have a shared series entitled “Super Bestest Friends Play!”; it consists pretty much entirely of Hiyoko forcing Mikan to play the weird Flash games you find on various “gaming” websites (i.e. bootleg Frozen games and the like). Hiyoko uploaded the first episode without permission from the others, and promptly found herself being threatened with stabbing by Maki, who is always on watch to make sure things don’t get too upsetting for Mikan; every once in a while you’ll hear a soft click in the background of the episodes, at which point Hiyoko will immediately and urgently apologize to Mikan and suggest a tamer game. Also, every once in a while the situation gets shaken up a bit: on at least a couple of occasions Mikan very visibly starts getting aroused by the games in question, which freaks Hiyoko out more than anything else the other Ultimates have ever seen (this is the main reason they allow the series to persist).
Gundham and Sonia have an ongoing series in which they play horror games together. Gundham constantly pretends not to be freaked out by the jumpscares, even though he is. Sonia constantly pretends to be freaked out by the atmosphere, even though she’s not. They are exactly as adorable together as you can imagine.
Gundham also has a recurring Pokémon series, covering at least one game from every Generation. He makes a dedicated effort to capture one of every Pokémon, and at the end of each playthrough he hacks in any that he can’t obtain legitimately that Gen. His videos are each at least an hour long because he can’t make himself stop playing with his Pokémon. He also cites Pokémon-Amie as the single greatest innovation in the history of the franchise.
As more and more shows started appearing on the channel, Chiaki started putting out less and less content- which suits her just fine, since it gives her more chances to play games with herself and her friends, without having to worry about making entertaining commentary. Her only ongoing series at the time of the AU is a gaming news show, where she reports on announcements about games she’s interested in, as well as discussions about what she’d like out of future games. Hajime is a recurring guest star on the series.
Komaru has a series where she plays whatever games she happens to like at the time; most of these are Nintendo games, and almost all of them are on the casual end of the spectrum. Toko regularly drops in without warning.
Mitarai has an ongoing visual novel review series, which frequently devolves into tips about drawing and commentary on anime he likes or dislikes.
Himiko has a series of RPG playthroughs, many of them unfinished. The only playthroughs she will consistently finish are Final Fantasy games, since they’re Tenko’s favorites. She also did exactly three episodes of a Kingdom Hearts LP before abandoning it, citing the story being too confusing.
Maki has a recurring series in which she plays first-person shooters in order to test their accuracy. To the hastily-suppressed delight of Kokichi (and the well-disguised amusement of everyone else in the building), Maki usually turns out to be absolutely terrible at these games, being so used to real combat situations that she can’t adapt to the artistic license of most FPS’s.
Kokichi Oma has only one series, which is entitled “Kokichi Plays Minecraft”. The series is well over a hundred episodes long, and not a single damn second of that is from Minecraft. Instead, every episode is taken from a different game, with no apparent pattern; each episode has Kokichi acting as if he’s been playing this game for several episodes, as well as alluding to various incidents that happened previously in the game (which, of course, the audience doesn’t get to see).
Tsumugi’s series is literally just makeup tutorials for cosplayers. She doesn’t seem to realize that it’s otherwise pretty much exclusively a gaming channel, and no one else has bothered to tell her.
There are plenty of other series not listed here, including some that pop up without warning and only air one or two episodes before ending. In general, every character from the games has at least one recurring series, each with wildly different schedules.
One series in particular doesn’t have a single consistent host; it’s called “Ultimate Date Night”, and the commentary role shifts between various couples within the group- Akane and Nekomaru, Himiko and Tenko, Sonia and Gundham, Kokichi and Shuichi- as they play various cooperative and competitive games together. There is also a spin-off series called “Double Date”, in which two such couples square off in team-based competitive games.
Other Headcanons:
At one point, Hifumi and Kazuichi definitely played Doki Doki Literature Club, and spent the second half of the series alternately screaming and crying. They were not ready.
For one April Fools’ Day, everyone on the channel traded series for the day; Makoto and Kyoko hosted “Love Quest 3000”, Celeste and Ishimaru hosted “Super Bestest Friends Play!”, Hiyoko and Mikan hosted the horror game series, Maki hosted “Detective Training” (with special guests Kaito and Maki), and so on. The only exception to this was Kokichi; the thumbnail for his video showed Mukuro as the host, but Kokichi introduces himself as usual at the start of the video and does his usual thing. Also, Junko cameoed on multiple series that day.
Makoto and Kyoko definitely played through Ghost Trick together, and Makoto cried multiple times throughout the game, particularly near the ending.
The only time anyone in the group has ever seen Junko legitimately cry is that one time when Mukuro beat her at Mario Kart 8. Mukuro has never let her forget that day.
Maki was banned from “Double Date” after her first and only appearance ended with extensive property damage and Fuyuhiko (who was on the other team with Peko) being rushed to the hospital with multiple broken bones.
Games Komaru has played include Super Mario Galaxy (finished, though not 100%), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (unfinished), Thomas Was Alone, and Miitopia.
Chisa regularly visits the Ultimates Play headquarters, bringing snacks and encouragement. Everyone is happy to see her, even Togami and Kokichi.
Himiko was the first non-Class 77 member of the channel; no one is quite sure how she ended up joining, least of all Himiko.
Let us know if you like this idea, and if you have other headcanons regarding this AU! Maybe you’ll get featured in a follow-up post or something; who knows? Anyway, hope you enjoyed whatever this was!

...another oumamimatsu au >//<
Maybe... a 79th class of hopes peak au? Where it takes Junko another year to get all the pieces together to destroy the world and Despair Arc takes place in her second year of high school.
Basically, Rantaro discovers that Junko-senpai and Mukuro-senpai are doing something sketchy, getting a head boink for his trouble that gives him temporary amnesia. Kaede and Kokichi, who were returning from detention (because of an argument they got into that somehow took out a wall), are the ones to find him and a bit of incriminating evidence that proves that someone is out there doing something evil.
Kokichi insists that they treat Rantaro themselves, only trusting Kaede because she was in detention with him (thus, could not boink heads) and also her righteousness would make her incapable of evil (or is it a trap...?), but either way, they can’t trust the school because fuck authority. Kaede reluctantly agrees. I like the idea that she’s noticed the way the reserve course is treated, and even has looked into their finances before being blocked. And Rantaro doesn’t remember his talent, nor any attachments to it.
Rantaro is still the Ultimate Survivor in this au, but pretends to be the Ultimate Adventurer. I’m not sure how he would become Ultimate Survivor, but both Kaede and Kokichi understand that if Rantaro can’t remember his talent, and reasonably prove it at the next exam, then he’ll be expelled, so there’s an arc of them trying to get him to do adventurey things, only for the exam to come around and the talent board has arranged, like, a death trap for him to escape (good thing Komaeda gets exams cancelled)
I have the image of the three of them linking arms with a group of daisy flowers in their mouths. Daisies can represent keeping a secret, so... that’s where all this came from.

With the Izuru Kaede au, how would the V3 cast react to Shuichi’s death? He also says dead.
yangst
Class 79, along with the rest of Hope’s Peak, had been notified of the existence of the Ultimate Hunter. They knew how dangerous this person was, and knew to always stay in groups if they could.
The same day Shuichi didn’t show up for class was the same day Kaede came into their classroom from the Reserve Course, shaking and in tears. She was the one who told them that Shuichi had been killed by the Ultimate Hunter.
The entire class was completely shocked. Those closest to Shuichi banded with each other and Kaede. Even Maki, so averse to physical touch from just anyone, found herself needing human contact as a comfort.
Those not as close to him were still shaken. They knew that Shuichi was very careful, especially as the Ultimate Detective. It scared them that something so awful could happen to someone so careful.
Of course, they reached their support out to Kaede. They didn’t know her as well as Shuichi did, but in a time of mourning, she was one of them. They all had to rely on each other to get through this.

The headmaster adjusted his suit jacket yet again, and let out a soft sigh, before finally stepping away from the window and towards the door, walking with his talentscout by his side, and meeting the enthusiastic teacher waiting for him by the gym doors. Today was the day they greeted Class 79 into Hope’s Peak Academy.
15 of Japan's teen criminals have been scouted this spring to attend the next class in Hope's Peak Academy - it's better than a conviction and years in prison, after all.
