Shen Yuan is two things:
1) chronically ill
2) rich rich
He couldn’t count on both hands the number of health scares he’s had, but he fought years to move out of his parents house and live independently!
…. Until he was found half dead by his sister and nearly died in the hospital. No one even knew until she showed up.
The smart thing- the thing his parents want- would be to sell his apartment and move back in so his family can watch him. But frankly, Shen Yuan was reaching the end of his 20s. He didn’t want to be 30 in his parents home being scolded for buying yet another anime figurine and fussed over all hours of the day by nannies.
So, like the adults they were, they compromised. Shen Yuan could live independently IF he put together a complete staff of live in specialists to help him. He had a few months to do so, and all had to be thoroughly background checked.
Which is how he ended up with an old estate filled with specialists who all bore striking resemblances to the cast of Proud Immortal Demon Way.
(SY endears himself over the course of months to the entire modern cast of svsss and collects them to live with him and be generously financially supported. Additionally he finally tracks down the hack author of PIDW and keeps him as well, taking away the financial strain so PIDW can achieve its true potential as art.)

alhaitham likes to keep his life simple and comfortable. adding extra work into his well constructed routine isn't something he would like to do and yet, when he sees you struggle to keep up with yours, that changes.
seeing you throw away your potential.. something about it annoys him enough to act on his thoughts. he offers to help. even if it's told in a rather blunt way and he says that you're making it worse for you and your future, his actions are still careful and accomodating.
he takes into account your learning styles and how you work, knowing what exactly motivates you after observing you for so long.
dragging you along with him everytime he needs to get something from the house of daena, quizzing you on what you learnt out of the blue to test you before correcting your answers and explaining the concept instead of chiding you on getting things wrong. he even goes so far as to have you stay in his office, making you study beside him as he works so you don't get distracted as easily.
his care and efforts are rewarded when you return the next week with a highly graded project along with your beaming smile.
after reading over it, he simply points out the places you can improve, it's good to know what you can do better after all. before you can say anything in return out of annoyance, he gives a small smile and mentioning that you've improved a lot. he expects you to keep it up and he'll be by your side as you keep on growing.

Okay so hear me out
What if... Elodie's not dead
And that French tutor that William found for Jeremy that's local, from Marseille and has no teaching experience is her....
Because like if I was 15 and needed cash and was fluent in French I would start tutoring in French too right. And that would make sense why she has no teaching experience cuz... high schooler. And it's not like the market of Marseille French tutors is very big so it would make sense that not all of them would be an adult. Like... theoretically it could be a high schooler. It's not like we found out any information about them when William brought it up
so... i mean. it's a non-zero chance of it being her or at least someone Jean knows... right...

So you know how sometimes you do something as a kid or a teenager and you think it's totally normal and then the memory pops into your head as an adult and it suddenly recontextualizes the whole thing? Anyway shout out to my super nice high school math teacher, who also had the misfortune of being A. the first teacher to give me a syllabus that (crucially) included point totals and how grades were calculated B. scored tests as like 75% of the grade and C. allowed us to take tests as a group All those factors combined into two incidents that, in retrospect, he was in no way expecting to deal with but teenage me thought were totally normal (behind a read more because it got long)
The first was when I stopped doing math homework not long into the school year and he stopped me after class to (very kindly, very gently) ask me if I was okay and if everything was okay at home, because I'd stopped doing my homework but he knew I knew the material. I said "I stopped doing the homework because I crossed the threshold on the point totals on the rubric where I no longer need to turn in any homework to get an A." He paused, kinda blinked at me, and said "That only works if you get 100% on every test" I kind of stared back at him in blank incomprehension, and was like "Yes????" "What happens if you don't get 100% on a test?" "Well. I do get 100% on every test, but if I ever miss a question, you offer extra credit questions on every test" He didn't know what to say to that lol The other time was when he announced future tests would be allowed to be worked on in groups of three or four, and I walked up to him after class and said "Any group I am in will be getting 100% on the tests. That is unfair to the other groups, and unfair to the people in my group, who will not get a chance to test their skills because I am not risking my grade on their math abilities. Can I take the tests solo?" Again, teenage me thought this was a perfectly normal, logical thing to do, but looking back as an adult like oh my gosh there is no way my poor math teacher was expecting to have to deal with that. He did let me take math tests solo I tried the "calculate points then stop doing the homework" thing in my English class the next year and it did not work because that teacher had an "extra credit doesn't count if you haven't done all your assignments" policy :(

dew: i’m proud to identify as morosexual. i’m attracted to dumbasses and dumbasses exclusively. phantom once asked me what the spanish word for "tortilla" was and now I dream of kissing him under the moonlight.
phantom (from another room): what kind of animal is the pink panther?
dew (already taking off his clothes): god bug, you’re so fucking stupid.

stressed out 4th year victoria javadi cramming for a final that she Can't Quite Figure Out. it's the night before her last exam before she's free from academia but nothing's going her way so as a last ditch effort she gathers her books and finds herself in the hospital (with a silent break room and none of the coworkers from her old ed rotation). obviously given her luck the night shift attending swings by for an extra straw for his coffee (since he obviously chewed through the paper one). the er is q**** enough that he hangs back to see what's making her so nervous and see if there's anything he can do only to find victoria aggressively scribbling with a green highlighter.
anyways point being. shen finds it hilarious and adorable that she's being bested by her own handwriting so he takes a look at her textbook and starts explaining it like it's easy as breathing.
