You know that guy who wrote that he got an idea of what it’s like to be a beautiful woman while walking down the street holding a fancy cake?
I feel like I have a reverse experience of that, where I get a taste of what it’s like to be a big, intimidating guy while at work as a tattoo artist.
like, put the tattoo gun in my hand and suddenly people are a little on edge around me, on the back foot in a way I have never experienced in my normal day to day life as a 5’3” afab person. Clients laugh at all my shitty jokes (for the first month of tattooing I was like “wow I’m really funny all of a sudden” before I realized what was happening) they ask my opinions and defer to my expertise with no convincing or placation. I find myself speaking definitively more often instead of constantly couching my statements with “I think-” and “I feel-”. My confidence has literally never been higher. Bizzare.

the world is getting worse day by day yeah but i didn’t expect it to hit this farm that would have a real, pumpkin on the vine pumpkin patch that i used to visit as a tiny kid with my parents during the fall, i loved it because they had pumpkins sitting in the fields on the vines that they grew on so kids like me could search through the entire patch and pick our favorite pumpkin that was only snipped off the vine just days before we visited. they even had multiple varieties of pumpkins all sitting in fields adjacent to one another so there’d be blue pumpkins, red pumpkins, hazel pumpkins, green pumpkins, tiny pumpkins, medium pumpkins, gargantuan pumpkins, etc. and all these pumpkin varieties would cross pollinate with one another on the boundaries so there’d be tiny blue pumpkins, flat red pumpkins, palm sized pumpkins, etc. i would spend hours in those fields trying to get my parents to carry as many pumpkins as they could because i wanted all of them. here’s 4 year old me struggling to pick up a pretty big pumpkin. we used to go get our pumpkins here every year for the fall season, it always felt so much more authentic than buying pumpkins from a grocery store
we stopped going when i was around 14, and i was thinking of revisiting that farm for their pumpkin patch but i looked at photos and videos on their website and i’m devastated because instead of literally just growing the pumpkins themselves, they let the pumpkin patches go barren and just bought pumpkins from another farm and just throw them in the field.
it just looks and feels so soulless now, the authenticity and magic of being in an actual pumpkin patch is gone. i really do think that the early 2000s was the last good, sincere time, people genuinely put their heart into holidays but now, hardly anyone even decorates for halloween. there aren’t any real pumpkin patches anymore, i’ve searched for them

Continuing to be back on my bullshit, I'm rounding out the year with the next installment of my Blue Beetle au nonsense or.
AKA @wazzappp 's Blue Beetle headcanons give me life and I'm yoinking them because. Everyone deserves a little body horror. As a treat.
(Well. Except for Oo'Li, by virtue of being the type of alien (yk more or less) that the scarabs are using for that sweet sweet basic DNA template)
Anyway, following my timeline of Jaime ending up with his second 'upgrade' after the reboot re: Khaji Da's last ditch effort to keep him from smashing into the ground of terminal velocity, Xiomara and Roma end up more buggified after their altercation with the Crimson Scarab in issue...2? I think, when their powers get drained, in the same vein of their scarabs getting inventive with ways for their hosts to defend themselves in power drain scenarios.
In keeping with their power-sets/specialities, Roma ends up with a scorpion-esque tail (yes ik that's not an insect but if she can manifest tentacles Im saying it counts) and retractable claws, while Xiomara has fully armored hands/gauntlets and extra insectoid legs

I have the general rule that I just, don't let myself give a shit about other people's dumbass opinions but I have one pet peeve that I just. Can Not let go of. and it's posts that go
How to write [Minority Group]!
Step 1: Make sure all your characters are exactly like me the op, or are exactly what I like to see in media.
Aside: Anything else is impossible, unrealistic, bigoted and you'll go to hell forever.
Step 2: They also have to use the exact language I do to describe themselves btw, no matter the time period or setting. See the above aside for further explanation.
Step 3: you should never ever even think about the actual mechanics of what makes a trope problematic in its impact in the real world. J ust memorize this list of things that should be banned in all fiction (for being problematic because I don't like them/someone else I agree with said they should be banned)
Step 4: Nuances in identity don't exist <3

Every time I see a Friede x Amethio post, ten of my neurons die. I know these posts come from new fans who only watched the episodes released on Netflix (which goes up to 13 if I'm not mistaken), and he's only appeared in 6 episodes at this point (which is a crime against my mental health. What the hell is he doing in that time offscream? I WANT ANSWERS!!!) I remember in the first episodes of Horizontes, that Tumblr and AO3 were full of posts and fics about Friede x Amethio, and they disappeared over time as the episodes went on.
It's funny, because nowadays, almost a year after Horizons officially started, fans who watch the subtitled episodes are all worried about the mental health of this teenager and wondering why the heck they are in Exploradores, while the new fans are in the same boat as most of the old ones were and abandoned, shipping the poor guy with Friede.
I personally never shipped them because:
1: Amethio is, canonically, and confirmed by his original voice actor, a teenager (on bulbapedia it said he was between 13 and 19, but now they removed that part and only added the fact that he is a teenager, without mentioning a possible age) I headcanon him as 16, because, for me, it's the age that makes the most sense for his behavior and mannerisms, but that's just me. You can imagine him as 18 or 19 if that makes you feel more comfortable shipping him with Friede, but it doesn't change the fact that he's still a young and emotionally immature person, with no apparent emotional support base other than his Pokémon and his subordinates (Zir and Conia will get there someday, I know they will), while Friede is a fully grown adult, and clearly more mature than Amethio (there's even a line about it in episode 25). Friede had already been a Pokémon teacher for probably a reasonable amount of time when Liko was around 5 to 7 years old (we find out about this in episode 18), and honestly, Amethio doesn't look that much older than Liko. The clear age difference between them makes me uncomfortable. There are a lot of adults in the Horizons cast to be shipped with Friede, leave the traumatized teenager alone.
2: The way Friede, especially in the first arc, keeps teasing Amethio, even though he's clearly irritated and on edge, makes me want to punch him. I love Friede. But the way he interacts with Amethio, one minute he's having a good time taking care of Liko and Roy, and the next he's ready to annoy the shit out of a teenager make me so angry. I love this idea that Friede is a complete social disaster who doesn't really know how to pick up cues (scareing a deaf girl, for example, is definitely something he would do by accident 👀), but there's no way he can't see how negatively his actions and words affect Amethio. Amethio wants to prove himself. He wants to fulfill the mission ordered to him, and this idiot adult, in addition to getting in the way, bothers him every chance he gets (ep 5, ep 22 and ep 25 are the best examples). I'm amazed at how Friede either doesn't really realize the harm his actions cause to Amethio, or he does and simply decides to keep doing it.
This post may make it seem like I don't like Friede, which isn't true. I love Friede. I think he's a very funny character, but he also has a lot of flaws, and bullying a teenager is one of them.
I don't want to start fights about ships, because I'm not in Horizontes for the ships, but for the story and the characters. The only ship I really like is Friede with a certain Explorer who erased a child's memory (because for the love of god, they couldn't have made their battle in the last episode any less gay, could they) I don't want to offend anyone who ships Friede and Amethio, I just wanted to give my opinion on the matter and why I, with my interpretation of the story and characters, hate this ship. (Hate is a strong word, but I feel uncomfortable whenever I see this ship somewhere)
I'm really sorry if I offended anyone at any point in this post, I just don't like seeing a teenager and an adult being shiped.
