When I was a kid, my mom had a lawn flamingo named Wilma. We were always told: oh, Wilma means a lot to your mom.
One day, Wilma just got like broken down by UV exposure, and exploded. Sun did it over time. Weakened all the bonds of the plastic. It happens to lawn furniture a lot, but it had never before happened to Wilma. We were like: oh god, mom is going to be devastated, we have to find her a replacement Wilma.
So: I took the bus to the hardware store with my best friend, and we looked through all of their lawn flamingos for a replacement. After a couple minutes of searching (there were more plastic lawn flamingos at hardware stores back then, and the hardware stores were better) we found one that was close – but not exact – and brought it to my mom.
As soon as I stepped in the door, my mom immediately knew I was up to some shit, and asked about that shit. I pulled out the flamingo, and said I was so sorry her flamingo broke. It wasn't my fault. Here's a new one that you can hopefully grow to love too.
My mom sneers. "I fucking hated Wilma," she spits. It is then that I realize that she has also been to the hardware store, and has a large quantity of country-chic tractor parts decor that she is planning to put in that spot.
She continues: "Your uncle got that for me as a joke, and he told everyone that I loved lawn flamingos."
I had already bought it, and it was too late to take the bus back, so the new flamingo ended up in Wilma's spot, and we called her Wilma 2, because we had gone to all this effort to get it for her.
About a year later, a drunk driver backed through my parents' fence while trying to three-point-turn in the alley between two garage sales, and she crushed Wilma 2 beneath her tires.
There was never a Wilma 3.

Lamborghini Urraco P300
Despite having been conceptualised as the model to dramatically increase sales and bring Lamborghini greater financial stability, the Urraco P250 proved a commercial flop. Production started in late 1972 following major equipment and floorspace investment. However, by late 1974, less than 500 had been delivered. The Urraco should have gone into production two years earlier than it eventually did. Lamborghini had originally conceived the model with a view to selling over 1000 examples every year.
The disappointing reality left Lamborghini deep in the red, but the Urraco was only partly responsible for a difficult few years.
Compounding the firm’s troubles had been delays for the Countach, a worldwide recession, problems at Lamborghini Trattori and unionised labour, all of which contrived to take their toll on the company founder. In 1972, Ferruccio Lamborghini had sold his tractor company along with 51% of his motor car business. He cashed out of the final 49% in 1974 when the world was in the midst of an energy crisis that slashed demand for gas guzzling machinery.
Throughout this tumultuous period, development work continued on the Urraco. It mainly focused on the Paolo Stanzani-designed V8 engine that had been created especially for the new model at considerable expense. In November 1974, an uprated Urraco P300 was launched at the Turin Motor Show. It immediately went into production alongside the Countach LP400, Espada Series 3 and Jarama S.
Most significantly, the Urraco P300 came with an enlarged three-litre engine. Equally importantly, the power unit now incorporated dual instead of single overhead camshafts.
To take capacity up to three-litres, Paolo Stanzani’s all-alloy 90° V8 was stroked from 53mm to 64.5mm. Bore went unchanged at 86mm for an overall displacement of 2997cc (an increase of 534cc). Compression was dropped from 10.5:1 to 10.0:1. Four new Weber 40 DCNF twin-choke downdraught carburettors were installed to replace the old 40 IDF 1s used previously.
The consequence of these improvements was a dramatic jump in output. Peak power was up 40bhp to 260bhp at an otherwise unchanged 7500rpm. The torque rating also rose considerably; 195lb-ft was now on tap at 3500rpm compared to 166lb-ft at 5750rpm for the P250.
As before, ignition was via two Marelli coils and a single Marelli distributor.
Lamborghini’s five-speed manual gearbox was beefed up to cope with the increased power and torque. Transmission was via a single dry-plate clutch and Lamborghini differential. New damper settings improved the ride, but otherwise little was changed to the existing platform The P300 was based on the same steel monocoque body shell as its predecessor. The engine was housed transversely like the Miura.
Suspension was independent all-round with MacPherson struts, coil springs and telescopic shocks. Anti-roll bars were fitted at either end The twin circuit brake system incorporated unchanged 278mm ventilated Girling discs. Campagnolo’s handsome five-bolt cast magnesium wheels were retained. They measured 7.5 x 14-inches and originally came shod with Michelin XWX tyres.
An 80-litre fuel tank was fitted in the engine bay.
Visually, the only change made to the P300 Urraco was a switch from a two-bank to six-bank radiator cooling vent on the front lid. The rest of Marcello Gandini’s soft wedge creation was unaltered. In a decade not exactly renowned for design longevity, the Urraco proved somewhat timeless. Compared to Bertone’s other mid-engined 2+2, the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4, the baby Lamborghini aged very well, even though it was ultimately outsold by the Maranello product by five to one.Build quality was considerably improved over earlier examples and nowhere was this more apparent than in the cockpit.Bertone had originally been responsible for furnishing the bodyshells, but by the time the P300 was on stream, this work had been taken in-house.
Lamborghini used better quality materials and ensured a higher standard of fit and finish. To this end, P300s were generally equipped with full leather interiors instead of the often garish two-tone leather and fabric combinations seen earlier.
The full width dash layout was still just as haphazard though. The rev counter and speedometer were located at either end of the instrument binnacle and angled in towards the driver. Supplementary gauges and various rocker switches were housed in between.
Lamborghini’s unusual deep dish steering wheel with its four arced horizontal spokes and leather rim was also retained. Like the P250 (which remained in production for a few months longer to use up an overstock of parts), the only update was the gradual shift to anodised black bumpers, wipers and window frames. A more conventional three-spoke steering wheel was also introduced towards the end of production.

but then i kept scrolling and like. is this the same spooky skeleton???
Tumblr media
i understand making sure you have your finest cowboy hat on for your monday meeting, but in the tub???? and sure, trade out your coffee for something a little stronger after a hard day, but the BOOTS?? like y'all, i live in the south but i don't see THAT many cowboy skeleton figurines at halloween time, so this was interesting to say the least.

i like to think billy bubblebath bones made this fucking pillow on a cricut:
Tumblr media
BONUS:
Tumblr media
as far as i can tell, this isn't for sale, but that is definitely billy bubblebath bones welcoming folks (skeletons) to their....skeleton horse farmhouse?? IN PANTS. AND A SICK BELT BUCKLE. The morning’s farm activities include: milking the goats, carrying hay out to the horse, feeding the chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, etc. and collecting eggs, and tending the rabbits. Later on, gathering vegetables and flowers for market day, checking the fruit trees and associated beehives, tinkering with the tractor, preparing the baler for the last cutting of hay, etc., etc. All the familiar farm chores...only these are all being done in the heart of the City of Detroit, almost within sight of the smokestacks of the giant Ford complex. This farm is located on the converted playground of one of the city’s public schools, the Catherine Ferguson Academy (CFA).
And CFA is not the only farm in Detroit. By my count, there are now at least six micro-farms within the city limits ranging from about an acre to several acres. Even more important, there are now scores of productive community and school gardens, along with hundreds of family gardens, which are providing fresh fruits and vegetables for their neighborhoods and for sale at various farmers’ markets around town. And the urban farming movement is growing here faster each year, strengthening people with healthy produce, and re-energizing communities with shared planning, work, and celebration. It is becoming a movement of urban farmers worthy of linking up with the readers of Small Farmer’s Journal. But how did this movement come about?
Detroit, as everyone knows, was “The Motor City,” the auto capital of the world, home of the GM, Ford, and Chrysler. But in the mid-1970’s, the first of the oil crises hit Detroit like a tsunami. Plants downsized and closed, leaving tens of thousands of Detroiters out of work and neighborhoods devastated. People started leaving the city in droves. That exodus left broad swaths of open fields where vibrant neighborhoods stood a few years earlier. By some estimates there are now in total about 40 square miles of vacant land inside the city limits of Detroit. And as the people left, this new prairie land was rapidly repopulated by pheasants, rabbits, and raccoons, ’possums and songbirds, along with the occasional fox or coyote. But it also brought some determined new urban farmers. As a result, by the early 1990’s, the Detroit Agriculture Network (DAN) came into being to provide a forum for exchange of information, resources, seeds, etc., among these new farmers.

Egg shells on store bought eggs are soooo thin now! You don’t even have to tap them to crack them.
I don’t remember them ever being so thin as they’ve gotten the last few years. Then again, I am now only buying eggs based on price**, so maybe that figures into it.
Geez, I miss when we raised our own chickens. Endless eggs! ***
**I wish I could afford to worry about ethics, especially after my childhood trauma of a kindergarten school trip to an egg farm. Those poor chickens!! Believe me, after that things like “free range” and “cage free” bring back memories of those birds stacked in tiny individual cages, one over the other, poop of one isolated bird falling on the one below…. It was HELL!
***I am already spending half my money (and frequently more) on the dogs, cats, and Ryoga (hog). I can’t afford chicken feed and building a new chicken lot. Every year during poultry hatching season the Tractor Supply has all these baby birds for sale, and I find myself standing there sighing. Okay, it’s the ducklings I long for the most (I had pet ducks as a little girl), but the chicks tempt me too. But then I look at the fact that by the time I get to the store I have JUST enough left to buy the hog feed and I remember I can’t afford more beasties!

How much does it cost to buy a used tractor?
The cost of maintaining a tractor can vary depending on several factors, including the age of the tractor, its condition, the brand and model, the intensity of use, and the specific maintenance requirements. Here are some factors to consider when estimating the cost of tractor maintenance:
Routine Maintenance: Regular maintenance tasks include oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and general inspections. These tasks help keep the tractor running smoothly and prevent potential issues. The cost of routine maintenance can vary depending on the size of the tractor, the type of engine oil and filters required, and whether you perform the maintenance yourself or hire a professional. As a rough estimate, routine maintenance costs can range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars per year, depending on the tractor's size and usage.
Wear and Tear Parts: Tractors have various parts that experience wear and tear over time and need periodic replacement. These parts can include tires, belts, hoses, hydraulic seals, bearings, and electrical components. The frequency of replacement and the associated costs will depend on factors like the Vintage & Antique Tractors For Sale usage intensity, operating conditions, and the quality of the parts used. It's advisable to keep a budget for ongoing replacements and repairs, which can vary widely depending on the specific needs of the tractor.
Repairs and Breakdowns: Tractors, like any mechanical equipment, can experience breakdowns or require repairs due to unexpected issues. The cost of repairs will depend on the nature and severity of the problem, as well as the availability and cost of replacement parts. Major repairs, such as engine or transmission overhauls, can be costly, while minor repairs may be more affordable. It's difficult to provide an exact estimate for repairs, as the costs can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars or more, depending on the complexity of the repair and the tractor's age and condition.
Operator Skill and Care: The skill and care of the operator can also impact the maintenance costs of a tractor. Proper operation techniques, regular cleaning, and adherence to maintenance schedules can help prevent premature wear and reduce the likelihood of breakdowns. Negligence or improper operation, on the other hand, can lead to increased maintenance costs due to accelerated wear, damage, or accidents.
Storage and Shelter: Providing adequate storage and shelter for the tractor can help protect it from the elements, reducing the likelihood of rust, corrosion, or damage. This includes covered parking or a dedicated storage shed or barn. The cost of storage or shelter will vary depending on local factors such as land availability, rental costs, or construction expenses.
Age and Condition of the Tractor: Older tractors or tractors that have been heavily used may require more frequent maintenance and repairs. As tractors age, certain components may wear out or become less reliable, necessitating more frequent replacements and repairs. Additionally, if a tractor has been poorly maintained in the past, it may require more extensive maintenance efforts to bring it back to optimal condition. Generally, older or well-used tractors may have higher maintenance costs compared to newer models.
Brand and Model: The brand and model of the tractor can also impact maintenance costs. Tractors from different manufacturers may have varying parts availability and pricing. Some brands may have a wider network of service centers, making it easier to access maintenance and repair expertise. Additionally, certain tractor models may have specific maintenance requirements or unique parts that can affect the overall cost of maintenance.
Usage Intensity: The intensity of tractor usage can affect maintenance costs. Tractors that are used more frequently or for heavy-duty tasks may experience faster wear and tear on components, requiring more frequent maintenance and part replacements. Tractors used in demanding applications such as agriculture, construction, or forestry may require more regular servicing and have higher maintenance costs compared to tractors used for lighter duties.
Operator Skills and Training: The skill and knowledge of the tractor operator can influence maintenance costs. Operators who are well-trained in proper operation techniques, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols can help prevent unnecessary wear and damage to the tractor. They may also be more adept at identifying potential issues early on, allowing for timely maintenance or repairs. Adequate operator training and ongoing skill development can contribute to better maintenance practices and potentially reduce overall costs.
Location and Local Factors: The cost of maintaining a auction tractors for sale in usa can also be influenced by regional factors such as labor rates, availability of service centers, and the cost of replacement parts. These factors can vary significantly depending on your location. Rural areas with limited access to maintenance services may have higher costs due to travel distances or limited competition, while urban areas may offer more competitive pricing and a wider range of options.
Maintenance Schedule and Record-Keeping: Following a regular maintenance schedule and maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities can help optimize maintenance costs. Adhering to manufacturer-recommended service intervals ensures that maintenance tasks are performed at the appropriate times, reducing the risk of major failures or costly repairs. Keeping track of maintenance activities allows for better planning and budgeting for future maintenance needs.
It's important to note that the cost of maintaining a farm tractors for sale can be highly variable and dependent on individual circumstances. The specific make and model of the tractor, its condition, usage patterns, operator practices, and local factors all play a role in determining maintenance costs. Consulting with local experts, such as tractor dealerships or experienced mechanics, can provide valuable insights into the expected maintenance costs for your specific situation.

THROWING KYIV UNDER THE TRACTOR: In a major cave-in to Europe’s farming lobby, EU countries overnight agreed to impose restrictions on Ukrainian agricultural sales, dealing a significant blow to its exports.
Less revenue for Kyiv: This retreat ahead of this week’s EU leaders’ summit (for which farmers are descending on Brussels again) paves the way for a deal with the European Parliament today to partly roll back Kyiv’s trade benefits, officials and diplomats told Playbook. That’s expected to result in a revenue loss of more than €1 billion a year for the war-struck country.
Masks off: At last night’s meeting of the 27 government envoys, France came out in support of Poland, asking for a limit on imports of Ukrainian poultry, eggs, sugar and wheat, according to two people briefed on the discussion.
Strategic yogurt, revisited: Just as Macron stressed France’s no-holds-barred support for Ukraine, the pitchfork-wielding farmers have blown a hole into his “whatever it takes” soufflé.
Signal to Russia: Vladimir Putin can rely on European agri-food groups to do his lobbying for him. Russia’s full supermarket shelves — heaving with EU products — have been one of the regime’s go-to arguments to show Russia is winning the war.
Contradictory policy: This isn’t the first time the EU bowed to its agri sector when it comes to Russia’s war on Ukraine. While Russian-flagged ships are banned from EU ports, there’s an exemption for those carrying Russian fertilizers and pesticides. In previous decisions, the EU also rolled back asset freezes against Russian oligarchs involved in the agri-food trade.
The argument, back then, was that tougher restrictions on Russian fertilizers would lead to higher food prices in Europe. But that’s exactly what restrictions on imports from Ukraine will also do.
HAPPENING TODAY: The Belgian Council presidency and MEPs will meet this evening for negotiations on the new restrictions. Parliament has also asked for a lower ceiling at which the restrictions will kick in, as my colleagues Camille Gijs and Bartosz Brzeziński report in this must-read.
WINNERS AND LOSERS: Take a moment to appreciate the farming lobby’s political feat. Sky-high energy prices, a narrowly averted winter heating crisis, an influx of millions of refugees and Putin’s nuclear saber-rattling didn’t undermine EU will to support Ukraine — but farmers successfully convinced leaders to U-turn on policies aimed at supporting Kyiv’s income.
Winners: EU agricultural groups, who get to have their cake and eat it. After a host of measures meant to lower their production costs (such as derogations from environmental rules and the reintroduction of fossil fuel subsidies), they will now get measures to shield them from competition and increase their sales prices.
Also a winner: Russia. Today’s decision doesn’t just mean a revenue loss for Ukraine; it proves that EU leaders’ support for Ukraine caves under interest group pressure.
Losers: Ukrainian farmers, who look set to forgo some €1.2 billion a year in sales to the EU. And European consumers, who will get even less supply and choice, which could again drive up food price inflation.
BLAME IT ON THE ELECTION YEAR: Asked why they caved in, senior officials blamed their leaders’ fear that the farmers’ protests could fuel new populist parties, such as the BBB in the Netherlands.
But there are other ways to placate them: As some EU officials stressed, countries could help the majority of farmers simply by distributing subsidies more fairly. Some 80 percent of the EU’s direct farm subsidies go to the 20 percent biggest farms, according to the Commission.

So someone posted a Murderbot/Batfam crossover and my brain just . . . went to work. Of course Bruce Wayne is from the Corporate Rim. Of course Bruce is human. But his boys. . .
Before the escape pod was towed into his bay, Bruce already knew that it contained a single ComfortUnit from his ping. That one, alone, escaped the station currently burning up in atmosphere was a mystery. Haleys was known for their work with specialized programming for constructs; why a ComfortUnit? Why this one?
What he did not expect on opening the pod doors was a tiny form curled into a ball in the safety netting. Bruce tapped the feed to be sure they were online, and a tear-stained face turned up to look at him. Dark hair, skin washed pale in the bay lights, eyes reflecting bluer than blue. Bruce asked carefully, “Is there anyone else with you?”
“Just me.”
That was the ComfortUnit.
Bruce stood frozen, staring as the child rubbed their face, attempting to straighten up. Belatedly, Bruce extended his hand to help them climb out of the netting, registering the feel of flesh and thin too light limbs. The construct awkwardly clambered out of the pod and came to rest on the deck in front of him. “Were there. . . were there any other life pods?”
“I’m afraid not.”
The ComfortUnit looked up at him, then back to the singed plating of the life pod. If they had ejected a second later, they would likely have been caught in the gravity well before Bruce could catch them with his tractor beam. If others had tried. . . there would be nothing left after the atmosphere burnt it away.
Abruptly, the ComfortUnit pinged hard across the feed, sending a string of numbers, he/him designation, the hard IP again, and a deep, desperate helplessness. HubSys, SecSys, and the shipbot all pinged back, a chorus from all over the ship greeting the child. But not the response that he wanted. Bruce could see the boy’s face fall.
“They- they got me out. Before they fell, too.” The boy’s face was haunted, one hand clenching tight while the other rested on the pod’s surface. At least enough of the pod was functioning on emergency protocols to indicate to the governor module that they were still on company property.
If Bruce didn’t know otherwise, he would think he was facing an eight or nine year old child. It absolutely turned his stomach. Someone had – someone had designed him this way. He could all too easily see the marketing. In theory it would spare “real” children, allow predators a “safe” outlet, but in reality. . . they made this person to be a target, to be locked into a life of cruelty and exploitation.
In the Corporate Rim, anything was for sale. Anything.
It didn’t matter that it was a construct who could be mentally older than himself; Bruce still found himself using a more gentle voice than he would with interrogating an adult. “Who were they?”
“Mary and John.” At his nod, the boy elaborated, “They were older models with a lot of experience, and they were helping me integrate new modules. Giving me context so things made sense.”
Two older ComfortUnits. Designated male and female. To . . . to train this one. So he was relatively young after all. Bruce couldn’t tell if that made this entire situation better or worse. He could not condone dropping the lab facility into the atmosphere, burning up the human researchers and killing countless conspirators to hide the dirty laundry, but he also could absolutely not condone this.
“Do you-- how long have you been operating?”
“Just about 5,000 hours.” The boy rocked back on his feet, swinging his hands alarmingly like a restless child. “I’ve been getting really bored with the analysis tests in the lab. They said I hadn’t passed enough to go to human trials yet.”
Bruce didn’t allow the intense relief he felt to pass his face, but from the way the boy’s eyes flickered, he’d caught some micro-expression anyway. Some days he wished his face was part of what had been replaced. With alarming forthrightness, the boy declared, “You don’t agree with my function.”
He most certainly did not miss having organic knees as he held the low crouch to be on eye-level, “You’re a child. You should be allowed to be a child.”
The boy frowned, his face admirably expressive with his bright blue eyes. “That concept only applies to humans.”
Bruce flicked one arm, displaying the grappling gun held within the left forearm. “My body is comprised of only 34% organic matter. There is arguably more humanity in you than there is in me.”
“Oh.” The boy dipped forward to look at it more closely, and Bruce obligingly held still. “That is so cool.”
“They’re augments. I didn’t choose to have the accident, to lose my limbs, to lose my parents, but I did choose how to react to it.” Bruce rotated his arm slowly so the grappling gun was stowed away, back beneath the synth-flesh coverings. “That’s what I would like to do for you. Give you a choice.”
Stubborn blue eyes locked on to his. There was skepticism in there, and a very fast-working mind. “So you’ll be my new client.”
“No. I’ll be your guardian.” Absolutely not entertaining that line of thought, though surely if any tabloids found out he was keeping a ComfortUnit, they’d be all over it. It would be easy enough to present the boy as an augmented human: they were more organic than he was. The press would buy that he'd find a child in the same kind of catastrophic situation and sympathise. “And you can decide for yourself what your function is, if you want to change.”
“Change?”
“Grow.”
That startled the boy, his eyes going wide. “You mean I could grow up?”
“I was about your size when I first received augments. I think I can make it work.” He stood up at last, obviously to his adult height, and let the boy digest that for a moment. “So, what do you think?”
“Yes!”
----
“What should I call you?”
“Uh. The researchers called me Little Dick.”
“NO.”
(And in that moment Bruce aged ten years.)

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGE 8: WHAT IF
Instead of one what-if, have five of varying lengths in answer TW: animal death and people death (both old age).
What if Lenjamin had never approached Ian while he was sleeping in space?
Ian wouldn’t know anything different, and would still be out there sleepin.’  Honk shoo mimimimimi
What would happen if Ian and Len had never been arrested?
Len was fond of Ian, yes, but was becoming steadily bored and already looking for an out, but stayed around to help Ian learn to be on Earth out of obligation.  Since he was the one that brought Ian to Earth in the first place.  The [failed] heist happened to come about at the right time for him, and if it didn’t, Len would have likely woken up one day and decided to leave with the same amount of energy: A quick goodbye, a quick apology.
What if Ian never phased to leave jail, like Lenjamin did?
Then he would have probably been sentenced to prison, if thinking about the severity levels of the heist itself.
What if Ian wasn’t a virgin?
If he were to have lost it with anyone he felt comfortable with in the past, it would have been Tobie.  But he was scared enough just confessing that he loved him, so taking that further step was almost impossible.  He was close to coming around to opening up to Tobie about it, but then inevitable shit went down.
Before that, Ian had always been very go with the flow, do as he’s told, down for just about anything.  If someone wanted to convince him, he could have been convinced.  But no stranger or short term fling had ever been convincing enough.
What if Ian and Beverly had never found the Qraxoldov and remained on Earth?
Ian knew the streets were no place for a lovely cat like Beverly to remain on, no matter how accustomed to it she was.  But Ian had no identity, no SS number, so that made it near-impossible to be employed somewhere stable, let alone make enough to get housing in New York.  Ian would have little to no other option but to leave the city.
He contacts his old best friend Rory, who is living out in the Midwest with his now wife, catches up with him, and explains that he is looking for a place to work and live.
Rory and his wife are now owners/managers of a shop that sells engine parts and tractors, and offers him a job as a sales representative.  Obviously this is a far cry from what Ian is used to, but he will take whatever he can get.  And this way, Rory is back in his life again.
Moving is quite a bit harder with a cat (Before he could simply become incorporeal and move around the Earth with no issue) but he takes a bus and makes it to the small town.  He stays with Rory and his wife for a few months while getting funds and also accustomed to his new life, then is able to secure a rental house to live in.
Ian and Rory form up their old band McGriddle again, and they perform at the bars in the area from time to time.
Being under constant scrutiny from humans, Ian doesn’t shift for years and years.  His body ages.
When Beverly passes away after a long and full life of 17 years, a devastated Ian has nothing holding him down any longer, but he’s also satisfied with his life, and doesn’t leave.  He is an uncle to Rory’s children, and a fixture in their small town community through the friends he made and the many clubs and councils he joined because he can’t say no.
At one point Ian meets and falls in love with a woman who never quite matches his energy and devotion, but does love him and wants to settle and start a family.  It’s when Ian is weeks from proposing that it occurs to him: they can never have children.  Ian knows that obviously it’s possible for his species to have children, but these hypothetical children would be part his species, and the secret would inevitably get out at some point.  And also, Ian had no identity.  They can't legally get married.
He tells his partner this in vague terms without divulging his status.  This creates a large rift between them, resulting in a terrible breakup.
Ian decides after this, that it’s better to stay single.
He lives a long human life, alone romantically but not alone in friendship and family.  When Rory and his wife become old and pass away, Ian decides to do the same.
