Genuinely starting to think I'm some kind of omni-therian. There's such a small amount of animals I DON'T see myself as. I'm questioning kintypes left and right. It makes me feel so invalid-

But dear god. I'm starting to question big cats, especially lions, leopards and tigers. I wanna be a reptile napping in the sun, a fish exploring deep rivers, a small songbird building a nest. I wanna be a lemur jumping through the trees, and I wanna be the eagle that catches him. I wanna be a powerful ibex on a mountain top. I wanna be a mysterious creature in the depths of the mariana trench. A small frog resting on a leaf. A tiny newt hiding in a pond. A hare racing across a field...

So little animals I feel like I'm not.

I don't think I'm an omni-therian. But I feel as if I have 10+ kintypes at least. And I know that's valid!!! But... I don't feel valid at all.

Some fun facts!: I live in Oregon, I have an essa, green is my fav color, my birthstone is amethyst, my fav food is potatoes, my fav holiday is Christmas, and my favorite drinks are banana milk and soda! (And occasionally juices!)

I do have audhd, aphasia, severe dyscalculia, dyspraxia, anxiety, and persisting lower back, knee, and ankle pain!

I hope to open and have a successful small business in the future! (It will be selling candles, soaps, decorative potions, and mystery mix scoops!)

In the shallows

I float contently in the murky green water of the pond, limbs splayed for balance, flat tail waving lazily to propel myself through the slow currents. The warm sun filters down from the surface, casting bright stripes and patches on the layer of silt beneath me. 

Drifting toward the shore, I exit the water, moving one limb, then two, three, four, a long tail gently trailing along the algae slick rocks. I navigate the rain-damp leaf litter to find a comfortable little nook to rest in. Pebbles and flakes of tree bark stick to my skin but I don’t mind. That’s just how it is on the forest floor.

Dragons. Dragons have been extinct for over a thousand years. There are ballads about the last dragon. The loss of a whole branch of magic, due to the reckless slaughter of dragons and their kin. For the past thousand years, there have been no wyverns, no wyrms, no therians of any kind. Especially, no dragons.

Yet, there were three busily destroying Great-Aunt Mirthil's prized herb garden.

Anyone watching would have thought me indifferent to the great lizards rampaging through the rosemary. They would have been right. Great-Aunt Mirthil's garden had nothing on the nonsense I had going on in the basement. /My/ rosemary were twice the size hers used to be.

I sipped Great-Aunt Mirthil's fancy tea from one of Great-Aunt Mirthil's fancy teacups, and contemplated whether the weather outside was suitable for Rustroot at this time of year. Something had to replace the unfortunate rosemary after all. I had been looking for an excuse to get rid of it for ages, and dragons were an excellent excuse. Great-Aunt Berha wouldn't be able to say a word.

Oh look. They've found the Timethyme. I wonder what happens when it-

The rosemary bushes were standing up again. Great-Aunt Mirthil's prized herb garden was whole and unimpressive-looking. I was pouring boiling water through Great-Aunt Mirthil's enormous fancy tea strainer. The time was half an hour ago, and the radio was announcing the arrest of one Snart Desmedona, local magic emporium owner, on charges of corporate sabotage.

The charges wouldn't stick. Everyone knew that. Not only did Snart have all sorts of disreputable 'acquaintances', but the business they'd sabotaged had had an illegal experimental newt breeding facility in the basement and a history of bad stock management. It would have blown up in their faces on its own sooner or later. Snart had just made it blow up sooner rather than later.

I could see the defense article/s now.

How were they supposed to know that releasing hungry experimental newts that absorbed the properties of whatever they ate into a poorly thought-out display of Rustroot, Fireberries, Greater Scale Beetle Wings, Serrated Sharpleaf and Bedmas juice would result in the recreation of an extinct species? It's not like anything like this has ever happened before! And so on.

I bet they knew exactly what was going to happen. Old Snart's been around for longer than my Great-Aunts have been alive. Legend has it that they were the village witch back when this place was just a hamlet with ambitions.

Anyway. A supposed handful of newts was now a couple hundred dragons giving the woefully under-equipped City Animal Control the run-around. And three of them were due to set Great-Aunt Mirthil's Timethyme on fire in half an hour.

I put the jug down, dropped Great-Aunt Mirthil's tea strainer in the sink with a clatter and went out to do some gardening.
