with all the development and years you had to write him you have truly crafted him to be one that loads of ppl enjoy and that's the inspiring thing about you! i adore how you have so many aus for him. how you have his main verse not canon but your own creation for him while still and always retaining things close to his canon. you've built him up and developed him in such an inspiring manner and the way you write with many muses is just wow. i can see now that is why his main is not his canon since it makes it easier for interactions perhaps? either way, kudos!

and so it humbles me to see that you feel inspired by my efforts with akon. thank you for sharing that.

Apparently, my decision to be silly and make fanart of someone's writing (because I genuinely enjoy the story the person is writing and I was struck with inspiration upon reading a particular scene) has benevolent and wildly unforeseen consequences.

I apparently gained a bit of control of the canon because said writer really loved the art and decided what I drew/draw is canon.

2. Writer put said artwork into the document of his story right below the scene, so now it's IN the story where people who read the story will see it (with a link to me)

3. He sent the artwork to all his friends and people he knows because he was so excited

Wholesome interaction and I watched him do all that in real time, good stuff. However...there are two more consequences I was notified of today...nearly a full week after I gave the artwork.

Seeing the artwork caused his friends to become interested in reading and hearing about his story, which means more people are reading what he's writing and giving him critique on the story (which he actively asks for).

Apparently, upon seeing the art, his writer friends got a sudden second wind to pick back up writing they'd abandoned for a few months. Because, I quote, "seeing that someone enjoyed {his} writing enough to take the time to make art of it gave them the motivation that maybe THEY can write something that will inspire someone to also create something." I have accidentally caused a writing frenzy among his writer friends and my silly idea to make art for someone has had a butterfly effect for people who I don't even know.

Uhh...I'm pretty sure there's a moral here but I am tired and have a great deal of emotions about this.

I read this and felt this was me 30 years ago, watching this show airing on fox channel, one episode per week with commercials and a winter break in-between (yeah I'm that old).

This show changed TV (and also my life). And there's never been a love that burned as slow and strong as theirs, and with them the audience. We lived for the glances and small touches every week. The cover Gillian and David did for Rolling Stone in a bed fried my brain.

Reading your love for this show on your blog made my day.

for a good chunk of my life now i’ve had people tell me how much they enjoy watching me love something that they loved when they were younger. i’ve fallen in love with many things older things — the beatles, wwe, al pacino, northern exposure, cary grant — and every time someone has come to me and told me how much they loved this thing back in the day too. i adore this. it matters so, so, so, so much to me. i think it’s a beautiful thing to love something as deeply and profoundly as someone did 30 years ago, when it was first on air, or just came out—especially something as unique and creative as the x-files. and it’s also great to be able to share that with someone, even a perfect stranger. it’s what makes art and media so good, what makes it essential; we fall in love with the same stories over and over and it connects us, shows us the parts of being human that will remain so after ten, twenty, fifty years. it makes us less lonely — or at least, for me it does. i’m just like you and you’re just like me and it’s great thing to know

i love that you loved this show that many years ago, and that you’re getting to see a bit of yourself mirrored in my own reactions to it. thank you for sharing this very special memory of yours with me and indulging me while i explore it too. messages and moments like this make me so indescribably happy. i can’t wait until i���m thirty years wiser and someone in my life stumbles upon this show, and i can tell them how much i loved it too, back when i was younger. i hope we never stop connecting over the things we love. it’s a wonderful thing to be alive to witness and experience
