🇫🇷🇳🇪 🚨 FRANCE CLOSES THE DOORS OF ITS EMBASSY IN NIGER
France has announced the indefinite closure of its embassy in the west African country of Niger Friday, and has terminated all employment contracts with embassy staff.
The French ambassador to Niger, Sylvian Itte said in a letter that since the coup in July, the French embassy has been unable to carry out its functions due to restrictions imposed by the Nigerien authorities.
Despite repeated requests, the competent Nigerien authorities have not responded favorably to the maintenance of the activities of the French Embassy in Niger under normal conditions, he added.
The decision to close the embassy came mere hours before the departure of the last 1'500 French troops stationed in Niger, as part of the French disengagement with the west African country at the request of the Nigerien authorities and followed after the expulsion of the French ambassador.

Demonstrations in Niger’s capital, people demand US troop withdrawal
Hundreds of people took to the streets of Niger’s capital on April 13 to demand the withdrawal of US troops after authorities had terminated a military agreement with the US and welcomed Russian military instructors, according to African media.
The crowd marched through central Niamey waving Nigerien flags in a demonstration similar to the anti-French protests that triggered the withdrawal of French troops from Niger last year after the army seized power in a coup d’état.
We’re here to say no to the American base, we don’t want Americans on our soil.
Before the change of power, Niger remained a key security partner for France and the US, which used it as a base as part of international efforts to deter an Islamist insurgency in West Africa’s Sahel region.

The Carpet Manufacturers Association of Nigeria recently demanded a special grant from the government to revive the ailing domestic textile industry.
Over 60, 000 of carpet industry workers have lost their jobs, while allied companies, suppliers, distributors, transporters and others have cut jobs and incurred losses in their business, association president Otuekong Udoh said.
Over 30 domestic carpet manufacturing companies cease to exist now, taking a toll on the country’s economy, he lamented. Only two such companies continue to operate.

49 out of 54 African countries join the Russia-Africa summit. The presidential guard of Niger coup pro French president with support of the people.
Hello and welcome to a sov original. Today, we talk about the Russia-Africa summit and what it means in the context of geopolitics.
Let's start with an unexpected star, Uncle Prigozhin is back from Belarus,he appears in good health and comes to reassure Africa that the wagner pmc is here to stay
Tumblr media
(Here, Uncle Yevgeny Prigozhin and the director of the publication "Afrique media" on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Economic Forum, a picture taken from the telegram channel orchestra W)
This star, in rather unformal clothing, has also said his opinion on the Niger coup, wich is as follow:
“The removal of the pro-French president is "in fact a conquest of independence" by the people of Niger. The former colonialists deliberately destabilize the situation in African countries, supporting terrorists and illegal gangs in order to prevent the further development of the former colonies.
(Source:orchestra W)
This is the effectiveness of PMC Wagner: a thousand PMC Wagner fighters are able to restore order and destroy terrorists, preventing them from harming the civilian population of states, ”
With Uncle Prigozhin out of the way,we can start talking about the main event
President Putin has confirmed that the end of the grain deal will not block delivers for Africa and that Russia will offer free grain to countries in need
President Putin has said that Russia is still very much willing to sit on the negotiations table and that it's Ukraine that is refusing compromise. The president added that the African peace proposal is similar in many ways to the one of China
President Putin has forgiven a large debt owed by Somalia, helping the economy of the struggling country.
(Source:Sputnik,intelrepublic)
The African delegates have shown support for Russia and have thanked once again President Putin for the offer of free grain and the deepening of economic partnership between Russia and Africa.
Fun fact: the president of Zimbabwe, during the meeting, was wearing an indument with the face of President Putin
The Eritrean president has maybe been the harsher on Russia, but in the opposite direction that what would be expected,he scolded Russia for not preparing more for the conflict in Ukraine and then re iterated full support for the russian cause

In Niger, the pro France president has been couped by its personal guard with the support of the people. Many Russian flags and pro Russian slogans were present during the pro coup manifestations, showing once more wich side the African people are on.

Once again, the weakness of the Western sanctions and the failure of the policy of isolation are absolutely clear. The west has lost allies, credibility, and an enormous amount of money in its failing anti Russian crusade. The Ukrainian suicide charge is giving no fruits, and Russia has even started its own counter offensive, re taking the no man land that Ukraine was previously able to capture at an enormous cost.

🇳🇪🇪🇺 Ousted President of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum has filed a lawsuit, appealing to the Court of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to free him from "arbitrary arrest", accusing the coup government of Niger of violating his "freedom of movement."
President Mohamed Bazoum was overthrown in a military coup on July 26th and has been detained with his wife and child since.
The lawsuit was filed with the ECOWAS bloc's Court based in Abuja, the Nigerian Capital, on Sept 18th according to his Senegalese lawyer, Seydou Diagne.
"We request... in view of the violation of political Rights, that the State of Niger be ordered to immediately restore Constitutional order by handing over power to President Bazoum, who must continue to exercise it until the end of his mandate."
Since the coup succeeded in July, ECOWAS has imposed Sanctions against Niger and has warned the coup leaders that it could intervene militarily if President Bazoum is not restored to power and if all diplomatic manipulations fail.
The Niger coup took place in the context of a wave of anti-colonial sentiment that has led to anti-government protests and a series of military coups that saw the region's former Colonial masters (mainly the French) losing their power over West African States it has exploited for centuries.
Just since 2020, there have been 6 coups in former French Colonies. This includes: Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad, Guinea, Mali and Sudan.

Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso to quit ECOWAS, claiming the organisation threatens their independence
The military governments of all three countries have announced their intention to withdraw from the West African bloc, claiming the organisation threatens their independence.
Mali’s foreign ministry provided AFP with a copy of a letter sent to ECOWAS, while Burkina Faso’s official news agency confirmed a formal notification had been filed.
While there was no information from Niger, statements from Mali and Burkina Faso emphasise the common nature of their decision.
In response, ECOWAS indicated in an earlier statement that it was awaiting “formal and direct notification” from the countries concerned.
According to the bloc’s charter, the withdrawal cannot take effect until at least a year after formal notification.

Canada is speaking out against a coup d’etat in Niger, but hasn’t joined other nations in threatening to cut aid to the West African country.
Last Wednesday, a faction of Niger’s military claimed to have overthrown the country’s democratically elected president Mohamed Bazoum after detaining him in his palace.
In a tweet Friday evening, Global Affairs Canada wrote that Ottawa “strongly condemns the attempted coup” in Niger and calls for Bazoum’s release.
“We reaffirm our support for Niger’s democracy and reiterate our call for President Bazoum’s release,” the department wrote, while expressing support for the Economic Community of West African States, a group of 15 countries known as ECOWAS.
That bloc has threatened to sanction leaders of the military junta and send in troops if Bazoum isn’t restored to power within a week

https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/west-african-bloc-says-it-risks-disintegration-if-junta-led-states-leave-2024-07-07/
ABUJA, July 7 (Reuters) - The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) said on Sunday the region risked disintegration and worsening insecurity after junta-led Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger made clear their intentions to leave the bloc by signing a confederation treaty.
The Alliance of Sahel States treaty, signed on Saturday, underscored the three countries' determination to turn their backs on the 15-member ECOWAS, which has been urging them to return to democratic rule.
ECOWAS commission president Omar Touray said freedom of movement and a common market of 400 million people were some of the major benefits of the near 50-year-old bloc, but that these were under threat if the three countries left.
Funding of economic projects worth over $500 million in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger could also be stopped or suspended, Touray told an ECOWAS summit in Nigerian capital Abuja.
"Considering these benefits, it is evident that disintegration will not only disrupt the freedom of movement and settlement of people, but it will also worsen insecurity in the region," he said.
The three countries' withdrawal will be a major blow to security cooperation particularly in terms of intelligence sharing and participation in the fight against terrorism, he added.
ECOWAS leaders gathered at the summit to discuss the implications of the treaty by the Alliance of Sahel States, whose juntas seized control in a series of coups in the three states in 2020-2023 and severed military and diplomatic ties with regional allies and Western powers.
A decision on a regional standby force to fight terrorism and a regional currency would also be made, Touray said.
