A list of mobs and their insectoid counterparts

And, happy fiftieth post. This is the collection that I have deliberated on in regards to what mobs will be made into what as I progress with the resource pack. One such example has already come to fruition, though it is up to you to determine which, until I have more to show for this.

As of yet, this list is incomplete, as it does not officially include the new mobs of 1.19. I will need to review the additions to 1.19 and see what other ideas evolve. Based on everything else, I may consider a lifeblood butterfly for the allay and heavy fool or somesuch for the warden. I don’t have ideas for frogs yet, and I don’t remember if there were other new mobs aside from those three. If there are other non-1.19 mobs that I am missing, please let me know.

I am open to suggestions and feedback on ALL OF THESE IDEAS! Especially the ones with question marks or multiple options. Or, if you have questions about my thought process, I would be more than happy to answer.

It means I am indecisive but am also not sure what else I could do. I’m confident about most of these, but there are also a number that I’ve simply pulled out of a hat. Otherwise, the mobs may or may not be exactly like their Hallownester counterparts, but rather inspired by their design. I can simply make more stuff up if it comes to it, but please allow me to pick your brains first before it reaches that point.

I apologize, as I did intend to add links to every mob and enemy together for quick reference, but Tumblr took issue with it. Please note the focus is on creatures that are in or were supposed to be in Hollow Knight and nothing from Silksong.

So, after two polls, y’all have decided that your animatronic character will be a rabbit.

Now, I’ll put this under a “Read More” so you don’t have to scroll past it every time it’s in your feed. And I’ll make it last a week this time. Just so that you have as much time as you need to decided.

Hello and welcome!

This is the blog for the Phoenix AU, formerly the Everyone Lives AU.

I'll try to answer questions when I have time (and if I don't forget the blog exists but that's a secret between you and me), but chances are your question will eventually be answered!

You can ask a character a question, or me if it's about the AU itself that either can't be answered in-universe or you want a response from me as the creator (please specify if it's the second one, but otherwise any questions answered directly by me are because the characters can't explain).

There's very few rules to this blog, but there are some boundaries to what you can ask for my own safety (and sanity in some cases).

You CAN: - Ask silly things! The Phoenix AU is basically just my "it's my AU and I decide what's canon" AU, so asking every character you can if they can do a flip is definitely within the ruleset. - Reblog the post to continue a conversation! I'll probably cut it off in the tags at some point to keep one ask chain from taking over the entire blog, but until then feel free to keep going.

You CAN'T: - Ask sexual things. I was going to say general NSFW, but since blood and gore is often considered NSFW I will specify sexual. This doesn't mean you can't ask about a character's sexuality, that's completely fine! There's a difference between asking if a character is gay and asking if you can fuck one of the characters. - Spam the ask button with the same thing over and over. There has to be different question and/or character for each ask.

Golden Freddy/Fredbear: by this point the animatronic is too damaged to function, and while Michael could fix him, he's not sure he wants to (everyone understands why, for one reason or another)

Jeremy Fitzgerald: something happened, I'm not sure what yet but it leaves him unavailable

The Phantoms: they're hallucinations and not real characters you can hold a conversation with

The Nightmares: similar to the Phantoms, they are nightmares and you can't hold a conversation with them (they'd just kill you)

Bidybabs/Minireenas: this is going to sound lazy but honestly I can't be bothered with them (yes this counts for Electrobab too)

Rockstar Freddy: Everyone Lives was technically a lie since the fire absolutely fried his circuits beyond repair

Lefty: Charlie shoved Henry into Lefty and he hasn't gotten out yet (Charlie's letting him figure that out on his own since he thought trapping her in the bear-shaped timeout box was a good idea)

Glitchtrap: it's basically just a lil bit of William's soul that got into some circuit boards and didn't get the "I'm in hell" memo, so it's pretty much the same as asking William something

DJ Music Man: Michael and the Funtimes couldn't move him out of the ruined Pizzaplex, so sadly he's still left there (don't worry, he understands)

I made a little chart of all the unique Freddys that physically exist in the games (eg: no nightmare, withered, phantom etc.) with a reference Micheal and a Helpy for flavor

Could you rank the designs for the animatronics from best to worst?

(Just doing groups rather than individuals as there are way too many for that.)

From best to worst:

Funtimes: Love these guys. Great designs, very streamlined and sleek, with lots of individuality but also identifiable as a group. Can look pretty creepy in the right context but also kid-friendly. Capture the atmosphere of their game perfectly.

Withereds: They do a perfect job of showing how a lot of characters start out creepier and then get softer over time (look at Chuck E Cheese for example). They’re creepy but not in an over-the-top way either.

Classics: Good designs that perfectly strut the line between being really cut and uncannily terrifying with just a lighting change. Only complaint is that I wish Bonnie and Freddy were more individualized, rather than having the exact same body.

Toys: They’re fine and I like how high-tech they look compared to the Withereds, but I wish their designs were pushed a bit more, as they could’ve really been creepy if they played up the doll-like aspects. Mangle’s by far the best of the bunch.

Mediocres: I really like how they’re new characters instead of just being varietals on preexisting characters. I do feel like they could have seemed more “knock-off/cheap” though - Nedd Bear is perfect, but the others don’t come across as any cheaper than them aside from maybe their battery packs being visible. Some bad paint jobs might’ve helped.

Glamrocks: Tentative for now because I’ll need to see the final designs before judging, but from what we have I like the new characters and the individuality of the designs, but their color palettes are a mess and they lack coherency as a group (Roxanne has twice as much complexity to her as Freddy does, for example).

Rockstars: Foxy is kind of fun because it’s the first time we’ve seen him functional and he has some extra things like the parrot, but for the most part they’re just Toys crossed with the Classics with starts on their chest and extra instruments. Boring. Doesn’t help that they don’t do anything in the game.

Scraps: Hard to rank them as a group because they’re all different, but mostly it just feels like these were redesigns for no real reasons, and not very good redesigns either. Scraptrap could’ve just been a burnt Springtrap; Molten Freddy could’ve just been a damaged Ennard. And Lefty is by far the worst, taking one of the coolest and most original designs in the series and turning it into another goddamn bear recolor. And not even a good bear recolor either.

Phantoms: They can have a pass because it’s implied that they’re just hallucinations from Springtrap, but I wish they were more than just recolors and nothing else. And some more consistency would be nice, as some of them are missing limbs while others aren’t and the choices of which animatronics are used seems random.

Twisteds: Don’t really care for the designs, but they’re basically the ideal version of the nightmares (see below).

Nightmares: They all look exactly the same first off - I like the designs to have more individuality when possible (see the Twisteds, where Foxy has barnacles, Bonnie has the funky split jaw, Freddy has a stomach mouth, etc. N. Fredbear has a stomach mouth too but it’s barely notifiable and not used). The Nightmare designs are also just sort of generically monster-y, rather than having more variety. And they’re not scary, which wouldn’t be a problem except they’re so desperately trying to be scary.

My main problem with both them and the Twisteds is that they’re both missing the point of the animatronics - the animatronics aren’t scary because they’re over-the-top monsters, they’re scary because they’re uncannily human.

FNAF AUs

UCN AU:

In place of William is the Reader.

They’ve committed no wrongdoings against any of the animatronics/characters..and so are allowed to live (at least most of them do).

But the Reader must still play by their rules, and losing only gets them a harmless jumpscare (though they can still suffer endless deaths ((whether accidental or intentional)))

To be free of this purgatory is to defeat “50/20 Mode”, but the Reader tries to get to know the animatronics and befriend them.

Roommate AU

The animatronics stay in the Reader’s home after events at their respective locations force them to leave (shutdown, burnt, etc.).

General silly/angsty/heartfelt shenanigans ensue.

The originals, Withers, Phantoms, Nightmares, & Funtimes are in this AU so far.

AR AU (WIP)

A crossover with Markiplier’s Egos.

Daniel (Guard!Mark from the musical, now the CEO of the Fazbear Funtime Service), Celine, Damien, and Y/N all work for the company and try their best to improve the animatronics for customers to enjoy.

Blacklight Machines AU

The Blacklight/Hard Mode versions of the main 4 from VR exist as their own separate entities.

What ships do you have in this au? Also what is this au in general bc I'm a bit confused sorry-

Tbh I'm still kinda working on the story, mostly to get rid of any plotholes that might be a bit problematic.

A few things to note is that most of the animatronics arent possessed at the tine in which this AU takes place.

The animatronics are seperate from the spirits.

Ennard is his own character, not just all of the SL characters.

The animatronics that are possessed are only under control between 12:00 and 6:00

Theres probably more but I can't think of anything else right now h h h

In the start it mostly follows the FNAF 1-3 characters, then later introduces the nightmares as the first main antagonists. Then it focuses on the SL characters after they're introduced. After a while some stuff happens that transitions it into FFPS, where the scrap animatronics are the main antagonists. The place burns down in the end and any souls there are freed, but most of the animatronics are able to get out before it gets really bad. The scrap animatronics get fixed up a bit and the story continues with mostly filler, and some character development if I'm able to do it right.

Glitchtrap, Vanny, Grim Foxy, and Dreadbear are the antagonists of the next part, but I'm still kinda figuring out how that might play out-. All I know is that they eventually join the protagonists.

It also introduces most of the FNAF AR skin, who also take a bit of an antagonist role and follow Glitchtrap when he decides he wants to kill everyone again cuz why TF not.

I'm going to try and figure out how to add the Glamrocks and some of the Fazbear Frights characters.

I also threw a few OCs as antogonists. Like the leader of the Twisted ones, Alpha, and Malgato, who basically just likes to fuck with them constantly.

That's about it, again, still working on the plotholes and stuffh h h .

I also have another AU that's basically the same, but follows the cannon story a bit more, like Ennard is all the SL characters rather than his own character, and William and Glitchtrap are the same person, etc.

Black Mirror Season 5 Mini-Rant

(This is no longer that mini, lol)

Needless to say, minor spoilers.

I love Black Mirror. It’s tied for my #1 favorite TV show alongside BoJack Horseman. I started watching it, by myself, right when Season 3 came out, and halfway through my first episode, I knew I was watching something that was invaluable and masterful in its uniqueness, realness, and creativity.

Some yellow-flags have been popping up for Black Mirror in the last few years.

Season 4 was awesome. You can see a slight upwards trend in production value throughout the seasons--nothing wrong. The first yellow-flag was “Bandersnatch,” for me. I’d’ve preferred a season over a choose-your-own-adventure, but the novelty was fun. It seemed like a vie for more mainstream attention, but it didn’t particularly compromise its Black Mirrorish tone (though “Bandersnatch” is certainly not one of my favorites).

The real yellow-flag was hearing, online, prior to the release of Season 5, that, following the critical acclaim of “San Junipero” (among, certainly, other things), the creators of Black Mirror were going to try and, to put it simply, do more happy endings.

That’s not a red flag, because “San Junipero” was a good episode. While the existential dread, hopelessness, and horror are certainly foundational to the body of Black Mirror, I wouldn’t mind a happy ending every once or a while, even if I understood, yes, there is a little bit of pandering going on. The reason it was a yellow flag was because, in this day and age, such an announcement sounds like a corporate dogwhistle for, “We’re completely, shamelessly prostituting a cultural relic you’ve grown to love to make a quick buck and get those yummy social engagements. Sorry, not sorry. Fuck off and die, eternally.”

I’ve watched capitalism and the fetishization of profits enable and embolden the inherent greed of producers in entertainment, and, little by little, strip me of every Earthly pleasure I have left.

When the very first trailer for Star Wars: Force Awakens was released, I watched it 20 times. I cried with joy. Literally wept. Star Wars meant so much to me.

I’ve watched as capitalistic greed turned my absolute favorite franchises into unrecognizable monsters. Well, not really. They’re not grotesque abominations, more like Uncanny Valley plastic husks, like people you see on the street. Less like nightmares in your sleep, more like the grey nightmares that you talk to in a normal day.

Star Wars was Marvel-ified by its third trilogy. Lord of the Rings was Marvel-ified by the Hobbit movies. The Harry Potter universe I grew to love, movies I loved and books I read into the teens of times, became Fantastic Beasts, a Marvel-ified plastic husk. I haven’t seen the newest and final season of Game of Thrones, but I’m less concerned for the final season, and more concerned for the endless spin-offs and prologues and epilogues and MCU-style garbage that’s to come. Thank God I don’t have any childhood attachments to the world of Ice and Fire.

And, no, I’m not stupid, I know I’m writing this on Tumblr, so let me address the elephant.

I’m a leftist. I champion intersectionality. What I can’t stand is liberal-style corporate idpol, that we can just slap a 1/4 black mixed white person into a movie and get the social justice movements to shut the fuck up for another decade.

I’m well aware the cinematic worlds of all these franchises are completely white-washed, and I’m well aware that’s a problem. My problem with the new Star Wars isn’t that Finn is black, it’s that in the first 30 minutes he seemed like he was going to be an awesome, complex, emotion-tugging character and then he became a goofy jokester. Make the entire Star Wars universe black, I could give a shit less. I’d love to see the anti-SJW nerdlets lose their fucking minds over it. But don’t excuse the corporate degeneracy of everything human, the sucking of the soul out of art itself, just because they sprinkled in a couple tokens here and there with Hillary-esque 0% sincere feminist-lite “She can STEM, and so can YOU!” roachshit.

*sigh* I’m getting well off-topic.

Okay.

I’m fine with Black Mirror making some changes here and there. Shit’s got to evolve. I’m not against change. But you can make changes here and there without sacrificing your morals, your integrity, your revolutionary spirit. While Black Mirror’s revolutionary spirit is self-evident by its gory critique of technology, the modern world, social-media, corporate values (the only true trickle-down that exists, LOL), etc. etc., even the aforementioned series and franchises had revolutionary spirit by the virtue of being artistic expression. True artistry, is, by nature, revolutionary, when the system to be revolted against is a system that desperately enforces homogeneity, milquetoast pandering, quantity-over-quality, and fetishizaton of profit above all else in the artistic/entertainment world. Maybe The Phantom Menace or The Prisoner of Azkaban don’t make overt revolutionary commentary on race relations, imperialism, or mental health, but they have naturally stood adjacent to the revolutionary spirit by having an ounce of artistic integrity.

No longer.

Black Mirror’s fifth season doesn’t scare me because of what it is, necessarily, but what it spells to come.

There’s a certain grit, a certain darkness, a certain unrelenting, uncompromising truth that has holed away in the center-mass of the essence of Black Mirror that, in this day and age, in our society, will ensure it never finds top-tier mainstream success. People have become ruthlessly conditioned to accept the macaroni-and-cheese, chicken nuggets, and Capri Sun of modern entertainment, and, for the most part, even when they think they want something different, they have been conditioned to heave and gag when placed in front of a home-cooked meal, no matter how quality the ingredients, no matter how nutritious and delicious, no matter how much care the chef has poured lovingly into the dish.

I don’t know the state of affair within the creative underbelly of Black Mirror’s writers, creators, producers, etc., but I’m reflexively worried, after watching beloved star after shining star be snuffed out by the Plastic, that evil entities have sown the first seeds of Corruption within the host body of Black Mirror.

All three episodes--yes, I was disappointed by the episode count, but I thought this would indicate impeccable quality--are good TV show episodes. If I had never seen a single episode of Black Mirror and saw its fifth season first, I would have loved and lauded it. They’re well-written, well-acted, and have biting themes that attack our consumerist, technological, apathetic, cookie-cutter, alienating society. The problem is, the bite is ever-so-slightly less than that of its predecessors. “Striking Vipers” felt like it could have been taken even further, somehow. It was realistic, but the idea of how VR will throw a wrench into sex as we know it surely has further consequences that should have been explored. “Smithereens” felt like it could have been a little more explicit with its ending, though I did absolutely love the conversation between the main character and Billy Bauer. “Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too” definitely needed more bite. I loved the first and second acts of the episode, but the third act...well, it felt like the Marvelification of my beloved. The goofy, light-hearted, inconsequential action...it would be fine in a vacuum, but in a world where Marvel’s tendrils are tightening around the heart of culture every day until it bursts, withers, and becomes oil, can you blame my paranoia?

If this is as “bad” as Black Mirror gets, I’ll be fine. I’ll live. But, as history has shown, time and time again, this is not where it stops. Corruption spreads. It is a cancer. It is its nature. I may look at Black Mirror today, and say, “Well, they got Star Wars and Harry Potter, and while those franchises were awesome, they weren’t as overtly and self-consciously revolutionary as Black Mirror. Black Mirror is better than this. It’ll know when to say ‘no’,” the truth is, in this day and age, we can’t be sure. No highly successful entities or individuals seem to be trustworthy with their own destiny, as insanely despotic as that sounds.

And, while I didn’t explain the concept fully in this rant, I hope you caught that I equate mediocrity, forgettableness, inconsequential toothless conflict and themes, and second-to-lowest common denominator pandering with the entity of Marvel, and how its immense financial success has acted as a cancer in the end of this decade to poison other franchises into melting into the homogeneous Plastic. And while the cowards will never say it overtly, even within their thoughts, I’ll be seen as the asshole and take the “pre-emptive” strike, as they have done so many times not in words, but in actions:

mechanics under the cut

At the beginning of the night, her d20 will appear on your desk. When she appears in your office, you can either pay her ‘plot points’ (fazcoins) to make her leave, or double-click her dice to make sure it’s on the same side of the desk as she is. If you don’t pay, and her dice isn’t in reach, she’ll jumpscare you.

Once she has the dice, she will randomly change another active animatronic’s level, based inversely on her dice roll (so a roll of 1 changes them to a 20 difficulty, a roll of 20 changes them to a 1 difficulty, etc). There are some conditions:

If all active animatronics are at 20 and she rolls a 1, you get jumpscared.

If all active animatronics are at 1 and she rolls a 20, you get a prize.

If she is the only animatronic active and she rolls a 1, you get jumpscared.

If she is the only animatronic active and she rolls a 20, you get... I dunno, a minigame or a cutscene or something. Lore.

Variations:

Toy Rhiannon: Gets excited around girls. Comes down your left hallway; the more ‘lady’ animatronics active, the faster she moves.

Withered Rhiannon: Always rolls poorly. If she appears in your doorway, make sure the d20 isn’t within reach, or she’ll jumpscare you.

Phantom Rhiannon: If you hear a garbled voice reciting poetry, don’t pull on your mask - she’ll be in there with you. If you do put the mask on and fail to remove it in time, she will cause it to become temporarily stuck.

Nightmare Rhiannon: Will cause mild auditory distraction with her fevered babbling, but will also cause your office temperature to rise drastically if she gets in. Can be scared away with loud noises, but this may aggravate other animatronics...

Funtime Rhiannon: Moves down your right hallway; easily excited by music. The global music box, regular music box and the activity of musical animatronics (Music Man, Ballora, Rockstar Rhiannon, etc) all cause her to dance faster and bring the party right to you.

Rockstar Rhiannon: Likes to rock out but is a little shy. Will drain your power supply; if you notice abnormally high usage, look for her in the cameras and click her to scare her off.

 her name’s bel the birdie and shes basically a waitress?? (all that stuff in her pocket is straws and stuff)

shes abt as tall as a normal adult but she Lorge (and no she has no bird boobs).

 her beak and legs are p much the normal yellow like how kids draw on birds and her feathers are this (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Teal-Luncheon-Napkins-24-Count/28262578 YES NAPKINS WERE THE BEST REF I HAD) color and her cheeks or whatever are red. the pencil is like hot glued on her head and is just decoration.

Its a good design that still is true to its concept. Do you think they have a little fence around her to keep the children away from drawing on her? but a little opening gate just incase she needs to be repaired? 

Overall, i like her beefy and buffy look! It makes me think of her more feathery then fluffy.

Where does the ticket come from? I say there should be a slot in her hand.. then she leans down a little, turning with her hand out to give the ticket to the cooks! But would voice recognition be a problem?

In a nutshell, there is still questions you need to ask yourself.. Like “How would this work? Would it be needed? Does it fit in?”

But, I like the design like mentioned before.. and i like what you did to fit it in with your concept! Her voices will certainly make me whimper!

She follows most basic rules, so good job!
