Alien Invasion: Family trees 25 years in

It's been 25 years since the invasion of Pleasantview and Strangetown started. Since Tycho is technically born in-game and he had a baby with Lucy Burb, the first born in-game generation is now complete for my alien invasion hood!

PT was really busy early on, but his jobs have slowed down lately. The rule was to only summon him when a human man rolled a want for a baby. Among his kids are Tycho, Vidcund Jr., Loki's twins Atom and Ceres and their younger sister Elektra (number 7 in the row), and finally John Burbs 3 alien kids Jane, Joe and Jack. Tycho already has a child of his own, little Joule with Lucy Burb.

Stella has a relatively modest number of kids at 4. Her eldest, Aster (pictured second), was born from her short-lived marriage to Cassandra Goth, and Deneb (pictured first) was born about a year after, from the affair she had with Darren that ended that marriage. She has two girls from her marriage to Vidcund: Violet and Cundy Sinclair Nova.

Chloe is happily married to Ripp, and has three children with him: Melanie, Bruno and Flavio. Outside of her marriage, she has three more: Azzura Goth, Alexander's daughter, Junior Oldie, Herb's son, and Rina Singles, the daughter she had with Nina. Only Junior and Rina have any alien DNA, although it remains unexpressed in Junior.

Lola has only two kids, Sitara and Parveen Loner in a previous marriage to Ajay. Sitara, the younger of the two, possesses recessive alien genes.

Jill has 3 kids, 2 with her longtime fiancé Buck: Jeff and Jess. Additionally, she has a toddler age son with Beau: Bill Broke. Jess has her grandfather's green skin, and Bill has latent alien DNA.

Johnny has done one hell of a job, with no fewer than 9 children. From eldest to youngest, we have Gertrude Nigmos, with the late Ophelia, Esmeralda Broke with Dustin, Diana and Dzvezda Smith with Dirk, Beelzebub Pleasant with Lilith, Justina Smith with Dina, twins Arma and Colt Grunt with Tank and finally baby Eric Davis with Johnny's most recent ex-husband Aldric. Of these, Justina is homozygous for alien genes, making her the first full blood alien to be born in the neighborhood.

Dina has a modest 4 children. Her eldest two are the twins Dino and Regina Goth with Mortimer, followed by her son Michael with her wife Angela. Finally, she had Justina with Johnny, as previously mentioned. Michael has latent alien genes.

Unfortunately, Nina and her husband Don passed away when a cockroach-borne epidemic swept SimCity. With him, she had two daughters called Jezebel and Carmen Lothario. Outside of her marriage, she had 5 more kids: Laser Grunt with Buzz, Rina Singles with Chloe, Paul Curious with Vidcund, Nino Pleasant with Daniel and Ulysses Beaker with Circe. Of these, Rina and Ulysses have alien skin, and Nino has recessive alien genes.

In total, this means the next generation consists of no fewer than 42 sims. 24 of those have alien skin, with one of them being a full alien. 5 sims have recessive alien genes, and 13 are fully human.

For the upcoming generation, I will be focusing on pairing off the half-alien offspring with each other. Hopefully, by the next generation we will have arrived at the final stage of the alien invasion, and we have at least one fully viable court consisting of a queen and several drones, each fully alien.

"i don't wanna go" Haliey said as I did her hair "why not?" I looked at her in the mirror, my 6 year old shrugged "are you nervous?" she looked up at me and nodded. Nick was taking us to meet his family, we only met Nate in the 6 months we've been together. Hailey is a very nervous and shy kid so I could tell she did not want to go. "if you feel don't want to be there, after going for a bit we can leave okay?" I smiled "okay!" I kissed her cheeks making her smile, "you guys ready?" Nick said sticking his head in the bathroom "yeah!" I smiled "I have to get my back pack" Hailey said jumping down from the counter going to her room, "her hair looks great" he said "thanks!" I pecked his lips "and you look great too" I smiled as he wrapped his arms around me.

"is Nate going to be there?" Hailey asked from the backseat "yeah and his kids he has two girls and a boy one close to your age," he said looking back at her "she'll want to hang out with you" "okay" she nodded smiling. Hailey grabbed Nick's hand while we walked toward his mom's house, he opened the door going in waiting for me too. Me and Nick sat next to each other on the couch he was talking with his cousin "i'm Misty, Nate's wife don't think the guys introduced us" a blonde sat next to me baby in her arms, I smiled "I don't think so. Y/n!" I shook her waiting hand "is this Nia?" I asked looking down at the baby "Yeah! you want to hold her?" "yes!". "so how old is she?" she asked me "6. Nikayla?" "same...so how's it with Nick?" I sat next to him outside with Nate and Misty and his cousins."you have that lighter?" Nick asked his brother "no I gave it to you" he sighed and stood up going into the house. "So?" When we went back inside Hailey was asleep along with Nikayla and Nia. "You want me to get her?" Nick asked "please!" I smiled, he smiled and picked Hailey up she opened her eyes a bit rubbing her face before putting her head on his shoulder wrapping her arm around him. "Thank you for having me" I smiled and gave Melissa a hug "anytime!" she smiled.

"what did you think?" He asked looking to me "They were awesome, I think Hailey really enjoyed herself!" I nodded "good! They liked you guys!" I smiled "I do have to ask something though.." "what?" He looked over to me "I need you to tell me that you're not leaving because we're getting serious" "who told you that" he pulled into my driveway putting the car in park "who said that?" Poor People’s Art: A (Short) Visual History of Poverty in the United States at USF Contemporary Art Museum in Tampa uses installations and artworks to tell the story of, and expand perspectives on, The Poor People’s Campaign- from its origins in the late 1960s to the present day form, as well as comment on poverty and other social issues. Both educational and engaging, it shows that despite long struggles and some progress, we are still very far from much needed social change, especially in regards to poverty.

The museum also produced a free full color, 48 page workbook that you can pick up there or download as a PDF that can be downloaded from their website.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is well known for his “I Have a Dream” speech, yet much less emphasis is placed on his campaign to seek justice for America’s poor, “The Poor People’s Campaign.” This was a multi-cultural, multi-faith, multi-racial movement aimed at uniting poor people and their allies to demand an end to poverty and inequality. Fifty-three years after Dr. King’s death, the Reverend William Barber II launched a contemporary push to fulfill MLK’s ambitious brief — one that calls for a “revolution of values” that unites poor and impacted communities across the country. The exhibition Poor People’s Art: A (Short) Visual History of Poverty in the United States represents a visual response to Dr. King’s “last great dream” as well as Reverend Barber’s recent “National Call for Moral Revival.”

With artworks spanning more than 50 years, the exhibition is divided into two parts: Resurrection (1968-1994) and Revival (1995-2022). Resurrection includes photographs, paintings, prints, videos, sculptures, books, and ephemera made by a radically inclusive company of American artists, from Jill Freedman’s photographs of Resurrection City, the tent enclave that King’s followers erected on the National Mall in 1968, to John Ahearns’ plaster cast sculpture Luis Fuentes, South Bronx (1979). Revival offers contemporary engagement across a range of approaches, materials, and points of view. Conceived in a declared opposition to poverty, racism, militarism, environmental destruction, health inequities, and other interlocking injustices, this exhibition shows how artists in the US have visualized poverty and its myriad knock-on effects since 1968. Participating artists include John Ahearn, Nina Berman, Martha De la Cruz, Jill Freedman, Rico Gatson, Mark Thomas Gibson, Corita Kent, Jason Lazarus, Miguel Luciano, Hiram Maristany, Narsiso Martinez, Adrian Piper, Robert Rauschenberg, Rodrigo Valenzuela, William Villalongo & Shraddha Ramani, and Marie Watt.

A multimedia visual artist whose work explores themes of history, popular culture, and social justice, Miguel Luciano revisits the history of the Young Lords, a revolutionary group of young Puerto Rican activists who organized for social justice in their communities beginning in the late 1960s. Luciano’s first contribution to Poor People’s Art is a vinyl banner from the public art project Mapping Resistance: The Young Lords in El Barrio (2019), a collaboration with artist Hiram Maristany. It features the photograph “Young Lords Member with Pa’lante Newspaper (1970)” by Maristany, who was the official photographer of the Young Lords and a founding member of the New York chapter. This banner, along with nine other enlarged Maristany photographs, were installed throughout East Harlem at the same locations where their history occurred 50 years prior.

Luciano’s second contribution to Poor People’s Art is the sculpture The People’s Pulpit (2022), a repurposed vintage pulpit from the First Spanish Methodist Church in East Harlem. The Young Lords famously took over the church in 1969 and renamed it “The People’s Church”; they hosted free breakfast programs, clothing drives, health screenings, and other community services there. In this exhibition, The People’s Pulpit features an historic recording of Nuyorican poet Pedro Pietri reciting the celebrated poem Puerto Rican Obituary during the Young Lord’s takeover of The People’s Church.

Afro-Taino artist Martha De la Cruz fashioned her sculptural installation Techo de sin (Roof of Without), 2021, from stolen, scavenged and donated materials found in Southwest Florida. According to the artist, “Florida is home to a large population of Latin American migrants who have ended up in the US largely due to economic pressures, exploitation and veins of power etched by Europe and the US.” Her powerful work deals with the results of this disjunction and the “symptoms thereabouts (e.g. houselessness, fugitiv-ity, government corruption, and income disparity, etc.).” According to De la Cruz, the word “sin” is a common Dominican mispronunciation for the word “zinc.” The sculpture is animated by a single light bulb that turns on for just ten minutes a day.

Jason Lazarus’s sculptural installation Resurrection City/Poor People’s Campaign: A National call for Moral Revival/A Third Reconstruction (2023) is anchored in the artist’s historical research and several key photographs of Resurrection City. A tent-like shelter inspired by the temporary residences that populated the 1968 mass protest, the interactive sculpture contains simple sleeping quarters and a curated library filled with physical literature and ephemera centered on both the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign and the 2018 Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, co-led by Rev. Dr.William Barber and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis.

The library allows for audiences to trace, listen, and talk about the history of advocating for the poor, from 1865 to the present. Additionally, the artist provides a custom transcription (and a QR hyperlink) to Barber’s 49-minute address on the syndicated radio show “The Breakfast Club” in which he carefully outlines his powerful vision for how we might address poverty going forward.

About Jill Freedman’s photograph above-

In the spring of 1968, the talented young street photographer Jill Freedman quit her day job as a copywriter in New York City to join the Poor People’s March on Washington. Freedman lived in Resurrection City for the entire six weeks of the encampment’s existence, photographing its residents as they rallied, made speeches, protested in front of government buildings, confronted police, built makeshift kitchens, organized clothing swaps, and dealt with flooding, petty crime, and illness. One of the most important postwar documentarians, and one of the few women photographers of the era, Freedman captured it all. Freedman’s 2017 book, Resurrection City, 1968-from which this exhibition draws a dozen powerful images-showcases the photographs that she made as a participant in the original Poor People’s Campaign. In multiple ways, Freedman’s images are the sympathetic perch upon much of which much of the present exhibition loosely hangs.

Tis the seasons of parties, planning for the next year, and stepping up on the service.  I finally found the time to sit down, and listen to music.

According to Spotify, this was the second most listened to song this year.  However, I have critical context for that information.  The said first song is an outlier, because I fell asleep to that song on loop, adding gravy to the numbers.  So, I know THIS is the True Number One Song.

It’s accustomed to view Nina Simone as a stoic and intense woman, but this live clip shows she can cut loose.

I’m gonna have to be generic here, but for good reason, and say at one point I can’t remember when I encountered the song “sinner man” it was probably on a 3 Dog Night album when I was fairly young, Jr High maybe, I loved it Corey Wells pre 3 Dog Night and I’m sure you’re familiar with those pipes.

Years later the song popped in my head again and I couldn’t remember who it was that had landed it there, and it wouldn’t leave, which was fine good tune after all, so the internet being available and having the cool new “high speed” DSL line which was like 2mbps shared across computers if that, but I could watch youtube and stuff and so it made looking easier and I ran through a bunch of versions until I hit one that was 10 min long.

I’d been doing studio work so I had some fairly high end headphones we’ll call them, and every moment of that track coming through there was perfection.

Listened to some of her other tunes and “stoic and intense“ is putting it lightly, especially the intense bit, but none of her other songs have made their way into my brain the way that one did.

So maybe less generic on my end since I was completely unfamiliar with the woman before that and it all happened organically, someone who’s never heard of Zepplin falling in love with “Stairway” sounds generic until you get to the whole, they didn’t know who they were before that one song. _________________

On the subject of most listened to song, somehow mine was “Heavy” by Collective Soul, which looking at my “likes” playlist I did not realize how much stuff by them I have, zero complaints not sure what to classify them as other than with a generic “alternative” but I enjoy their style.

Still though combined listening my winner is the Eels.

This particular account on YT music is I think I started it in July or August, so if it weren’t for the fact that it’s on pretty much all day I’d think I may have a problem.��

Not that I haven’t been aware for years that they’re my most listened to, Pink Floyd doesn’t lend itself to being too good with commercial breaks and I got no money for premium or it might be close.

Uberhood Round 1 - The Broke Family

Okay let's start with the rotational gameplay of my Uberhood. The first household/family we'll visit is the Broke family, residing in 55 Woodland Drive, Pleasantview.

Since I playtested a few households I'll summarize quickly what happened here. I think everybody knows the Broke's backstory so I won't go into that - as you know Brandi is a single mother trying to raise her two (later three) sons while also trying to find a solution for their financial problems as they seem to get bigger and bigger.

Her oldest son Dustin carries a lot of responsibility for his young age, being the only breadwinner in his family working as a Street Hawker in the criminal career track. The money isn't much, let alone enough, but he does whatever it takes. Brandi worries her son will go down the wrong path and wishes he'd find a legal and safe way to earn money. On the other hand she's feeling guilty and doesn't want to put him under pressure since she knows he's doing it for her and their family. Being needy and 'ungrateful' doesn't go well together.

Brandi's second son, Beau Broke, is a child now. He is extremely creative and suggests that he's a little genius. He is very interested in Music & Dance and is always jammin' to the "newest" songs on the Pop music channel. His favorite song is Hot'n'Cold by Katy Perry - nah just joking but he sure likes the pop channel. In my POV Beau is a very sensitive and attentive young boy. He is very inquisitive and very kind towards others. He is growing on me.

Brandi is very close with her children and wants the best for them. At the beginning of the game it doesn't take long till Brandi will get a baby bump pointing out that she is expecting another child.

This child will be known as Skip Broke Jr. It's a personal tradition of mine to name him after his deceased father and I think it would be something Brandi would've liked too. By now he's a toddler and is keeping the household busy. (More to come).

After Beau grew into a child and little Skip wasn't a baby anymore Brandi couldn't handle the guilt anymore and realized she needed to get active. In the past her friends Dina and Nina Caliente often took care of the kids so she could take some shifts at the local Burger Shop. That went well for a while but then Brandi's realized that her guilt has just been shifted. She knew she couldn't pay Dina & Nina much and also didn't want to risk or exploit their friendship. This is the reason why she went from part-time to full-time and hired a nanny to take care of her kids while she is at work. She is now working as a Fast Food Shift Manager in the culinary career track.

The nanny's name is Kendal Lawson. The kids like her and she often takes out the trash what makes her my favorite as well.

My goal for the Broke family is to maybe find a new partner for Brandi and help them slowly leave their financial trouble behind. Also I want to encourage Beau to increase his talents as well as to find some friends for him. That's all for now. Thank you for reading.

7. what is your deepest joy about writing?

i think everything? i get such a huge sense of fulfilment out of writing anything and seeing my words on the page make sense. i particularly enjoy outlining because i get to go back over time like "!!! suddenly this connects !!! i wasn't even trying to do that !!!" and writing is obviously an extension/end product of that. i want to be published and make that my career in the future, but even if i don't get there, i am so proud of myself for my creations.

25. what is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?

i'm coming to a blank here because i feel like i always find a way to include the weird, one-off details somehow for my own amusement. genuinely if i decide on something that's funny/unique enough i WILL find a way to work it in.

32. what is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc. that you return to from time and time again? how did you find it? what does it mean to you?

this is a fun one bc i have two that i can think of. one is:

"i'll take care of you." "it's rotten work." "not to me. not if it's you."

i know i must've found that through pinterest or tumblr posts or a quote in a youtube edit, because it's very widespread and it's gorgeous. this meant a lot to me with my ex-boyfriend. the act of actually telling someone outright that taking care of them, feeling for them, doing your best to provide for them in whatever way they need is not an arduous task solely because it's them? that says a lot. it was very true to my situation and i'm glad i'd sent him that quote back then, because i thought he deserved to know.

the second l m a o is victor rodenmaar jr. in the house of anubis s2 finale telling nina, with such impeccable voice inflection, "yes. you listen to this old man, nina," when he needs her to stop risking her life and live. there are so many reasons why i love victor and how he cares for the kids even though he doesn't say it, and this is one of them. the kids had come to him for help earlier that season and he didn't believe them; now, he's asking her to believe him. he uses rufus's language verbatim, calling himself an old man and simply agreeing with the man he's been fighting for so long. i think that's why nina listened. you don't just hear victor say that how he did and disagree with him. this scene--this finale in particular--provides so much admiration for victor on my end that ultimately helps me write him.

Tekken 8 theories

With the reveal of Nina Williams for Tekken 8, all of the characters revealed so far have either been from earlier games (Tekken’s Kazuya, Paul, Law, Nina, and Jack (eighth version), and Tekken 2′s Jun) or legacies of characters from earlier games (King II for Tekken’s King I, Jin for both Kazuya and Jun, Lars for Heihachi (story-wise not gameplay-wise)). This gives me two different theories.

One, Tekken is jumping to a new generation next game, so this is the last hurrah for the Tekken 1-2 generation of characters. Sure, many of them will still be in the next game (I’m pretty sure that Paul will be in every game no matter how old he is), but others will be phased out, and even important characters will take a back seat to the Tekken 3-7 generation. The one exception will be Kazuya, who I think will be elevated to the Heihachi role. The Tekken 9 generation will be the children/proteges of the second generation.

Two, giving the focus on the first generation of Tekken characters and their legacies, I suspect the next characters to be revealed in no particular order are:

A federal judge will have final say this week regarding whether a group of voters seeking to block Marjorie Taylor Greene from mounting a reelection campaign will see their case move forward or end in failure.

The controversial Georgia congresswoman is the second GOP member of the House to be targeted by a legal effort to block avowed supporters of former President Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election from seeking office under the 14th amendment to the US Constitution, which prohibits those who “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the US from holding federal office.

A similar effort against Rep Madison Cawthorn failed in recent weeks in North Carolina. But some Democrats are finding reason to hope that this time will be different for one key reason: Judge Amy Totenberg.

Ms Totenberg, the sister of NPR Supreme Court correspondent Nina Totenberg, was appointed to the bench by former President Barack Obama, unlike the Trump-appointed judge who threw out the bid to oust Mr Cawthorn from office in North Carolina. She has issued rulings in the past that challenged state Republican officials who sought to quickly certify the contested 2018 gubernatorial race and also blocked a GOP-led effort to end touchscreen voting in the state; for those reasons and others, she is seen as potentially more sympathetic to the effort than was the judge in Mr Cawthorn’s case, a conservative and member of the Federalist Society.

Ms Greene’s fate is also facing new questions after Judge Totenberg indicated on Friday that she had “significant questions and concerns" about the ruling handed down last month allowing Mr Cawthorn to run for a second term unimpeded.

At the same time, Judge Totenberg said that she would issue a ruling on Ms Greene’s bid to dismiss the case this week. An attorney affiliated with the plaintiffs in the case told The Independent on Monday that they still expected a decision before the day was over.

Ms Greene is represented by the same attorney, James Bopp Jr., who represented Mr Cawthorn in his case.

"This is a concerted, well-funded national effort to undermine our democracy by disqualifying eligible people from running for office," Mr Bopp said last month of the efforts to disqualify Mr Cawthorn and other members of Congress who supported false claims about a stolen election in 2020 and 2021.

One of the issues likely to come before the court if the case is allowed to proceed is whether Ms Greene was involved in the organising or planning of a “Stop the Steal”-themed rally in Washington on the day of the attack on Congress.

Rolling Stone reported in late 2021 that Ms Greene was accused by at least one rally organiser of involvement, a charge her office denied.

“I remember Marjorie Taylor Greene specifically,” a person described as an organiser of one of the two rallies that day told Rolling Stone in October. “I remember talking to probably close to a dozen other members at one point or another or their staffs.”

Ms Greene’s spokesman Nick Dyer responded at the time: “Congresswoman Greene and her staff were focused on the Congressional election objection on the House floor and had nothing to do with planning of any protest.”

The legal argument being decided this week revolves around whether a post-Civil War law meant to ease supporters of the rebel confederacy back into society known as the Amnesty Act of 1872 would apply in the case of Ms Greene, as the North Carolina judge ruled it did not for Mr Cawthorn.

According to CNN, Judge Totenberg questioned last week whether that law was meant to apply to future instances of rebellion or insurrection, declaring: “I don’t think that the Amnesty Act likely was prospective.”

A decision this week will only determine if the case moves forward. If Judge Totenberg rules against Ms Greene’s bid for dismissal, the road to blocking her from office would still be long and likely lead to a showdown at the Georgia Supreme Court.

Ms Greene is running for a second term in a Georgia district redrawn during her first term; as a result of that decision as well as her history of controversial comments, she faces a number of Republican primary challengers as well as Democrats seeking to face her in November.

The congresswoman remains stripped of her committees after it was revealed that she had expressed support in the past for violence against Democrats such as Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House. She has continued to seek the spotlight throughout her first term and most recently made headlines after she chose to speak at a convention hosted by a white nationalist, Nick Fuentes.

House Republican leaders have condemned both her and Mr Cawthorn in recent months, though Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has suggested that he is open to letting Ms Greene return to her committees should the GOP retake the House in the fall.
