Catholic Character Tournament

Rules

No real-life people (No, you can't submit Jesus or the Pope)

Only submit a character once. You can submit as many other characters as you like

Catholic-coded characters are allowed. If your character is not from Earth but they follow a religion that is clearly inspired/based on Catholicism, then it's ok. (ex: Church of Seiros in Fire Emblem Three Houses)

Orthodox Christians in communion with Rome are allowed. (Ex: Copts, Greek Orthodox, etc. Click link to see the list)

Rule Modification: Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Christians(implied or hcs supported by text) are allowed. Click here for details.

If a headcanon can be supported by the text then the character is allowed. (ex: the Familia Madrigal from Encanto). Will accept simple explanations like "Donatello makes a cross"

Former Catholics/Lapse Catholics/non-religious characters are allowed only if being ex-Catholic is important to their characterization or story (themes about religious guilt or trauma).

Characters from religious allegories/texts that were heavily inspired by the creator's catholic faith are allowed (ex: Lord of the Rings and Narnia)

Biblically inspired characters are allowed (ex: Castiel from Supernatural or Aziraphale from Good Omens)

Characters from horror movies are allowed. Demons, however, are not. Unless you want to argue that the Demon is still Catholic, then be my guest.

Propaganda is allowed and encouraged. No holy wars tho, we gotta learn from our mistakes.

They should actually be antagonists. I'm not talking simply rivals, no they need to be the actual antagonist of an arc or the series. I don't want characters who were just assholes once in the beginning and then are part of the group. They can have moments where they help out the protags but at the end of the day, they're definitely still an antagonist

Do you love a fictional character with connections to Brunei, Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, or hails from a culture that’s heavily inspired from these places? Well have I got the poll for you!

RULES

No real people

No real gods/goddesses/deities that belong to these cultures.

Characters whom are heavily coded as Southeast Asian are okay! You can provide the place they are from in their story or what you headcanon for them. (Example: Zeri from League of Legends, who is from Zaun but designed to be Filipino.)

Mixed-Race Characters are okay! Specify their background if possible. (Example: Molly McGee, who is half Thai and half Scottish.)

Canonically Jewish Character Tournament

hey! it's me, runner of @shittycartoondadshowdown, @shittycartoonmomshowdown, and @nepobabyshowdown. i'm here with another tournament for characters who are CANONICALLY jewish.

rules:

obviously, the character has to be confirmed jewish. doesn’t matter which parent they got it from, doesn’t matter if they converted—if they’re jewish, they’re jewish.

if the character's judaism is only confirmed in a statement by the creator outside of the source itself, then i'll make a poll on whether they should qualify.

ditto for if the only proof we get is, for lack of a better word, non-substantial (like, say, the character goes to her niece's wedding and all the men are wearing kippahs and there's a canopy and they step on a glass but it's unclear whether the niece is jewish or if her husband-to-be is, or if they both are). but if i know the character well enough i may just decide on my own

Hello, I read the post about Wayuu bags that @indigenous-character-tournament posted and the importance of buying authentic bags from them rather than from Disney, a mass-producing company. Are the Wayuu the ones who make hats, by any chance? I see a particular type of indigenous-made hat in Encanto.

Hi there! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. There's a type of hat that Wayúu people use specifically called an uwomü. It's made from woven straw, and sometimes we add puff ball decorations.

From what I remember in Encanto, the hat looks more like this:

Which is a Colombian vueltiao hat! They were originally made by Zenú or Sinú peoples. The hat is a national symbol for Colombia! They're both similar styles but totally different. Both are made from straw.

Welcome to the battle of badass queer couples!

Here, we determine the best powerful queer couples through Tumblr democracy- make them fight in a poll! Here are the general rules:

1.  Battle couple in this context means any couple that fights together- if they aren’t physical fighters, this might mean working together to take down an enemy through hacking, spy work, scheming, anything as long as they’re badass and working alongside each other! Moral alignment is unimportant- evil couples count too.

2. Couples don’t have to be explicitly canon, but please only submit couples with enough canon basis to qualify as implied! More on this under the cut.
