I woke up today no thoughts, brain empty.

Which is fine.

I've already hit word count today, so I may take a break from all the things. Nothing seems...interesting right now. All is still and quiet.

That said, OAEI looks like it'll be 75-85k (I expect it to pass 75k because I'm about at 63k, I have five Remnants chapters to put in (1k-2k a piece, probably), and maybe five other chapters left not including potential epilogue. 75k is a small amount, all things considered).

It also looks like the time span of the fic will be roughly 10 days (10.5 if you count Day Zero).

It may only be nine. I've got four non-memories chapters left. It really depends on what happens on Day Nine.

...it might actually be only nine days because it would be the end of the ninth when the thing happens, so it would have to be during the late hours of Day Nine or the early hours of Day Ten.

I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.

re-watching the second episode of leverage and wondering, for the first time, how much of a revelation nathan ford's crusade was for eliot spencer.

did he have any plan, before then? any path forward that brought him closer to where he wanted to be? or was he stuck in a holding pattern, figuring that retrieval work for rich people who weren't damien moreau was as close to becoming a better man as he could ever reach?

how much did it mean to him, do you think, to be given the opportunity to do some good in the world again?

obviously he's of the opinion he'll never be redeemed, and he's not wrong, per se. but I'm suddenly curious about the internal journey there, for him, in the early days. do you think it was like a gentle dawn finally breaking? do you think it was a relief? or was it terrifying? realizing that he could actually do better, that what he chose to do next actually mattered?

no wonder eliot never abandoned nathan ford, despite all possible provocation. how could he ever betray or desert the man who gave him a hand up out of the darkness, who showed him there was still a path forward?

Will never get over how Starscream and Skyfire's relationship is always doomed. There's never an iteration of them where they both stay on the same side at the end. They always end up being against each other, tearing each other apart (whether intentionally or not). They always end up losing each other, be it by a snowstorm, by the war, or by death itself. They never receive a happy ending together, one if not both of them is doomed to suffer.

Skyfire is doomed to be an Autobot, by forces out of his control. Starscream is doomed to be an Decepticon, by his own self destructive tendencies. They are both doomed, because of who they are. They always try to save the other, in their own way. But it never works. They are doomed to fail, whether they stay together or not.

This is me coming out as a “stunned silent” in response to the love confession truther. And I don’t mean stunned silent because they’re being aggressively and enthusiastically kissed (though I would enjoy that playing out too!). I mean either Buck or Eddie confessing their love for the other. To their face. In person. Alone. And the recipient of that confession is just absolutely dumbfounded. Not because they don’t return the feelings. More of a “you love me?????” response. Because I think that could work for either one of them. Eddie is absolutely stunned silent by Buck telling him he’ll sublet Eddie’s house so he can move. Buck is gobsmacked at the news that Eddie made him Christopher’s legal guardian in his will. We’ve already seen both of them so surprised by the depths of the other’s love and trust and support, so I think it would be a wonderful way to bring things full circle with the love confession. Because it’s the ultimate reveal of feelings, devotion, and love for them, and wouldn’t it just make so much sense that one of them would need a moment to process the other’s words?
