You rolled your eyes as you saw Arthur's comment on yours, how could he be so childish. Forget it, you reminded yourself, today is for Ollie and Ollie only.

You waited in Ollie's driver room till he was done with the debrief, you'd go out to celebrate with him and his family later. His trainer had given him a pass on the diet, after all, scoring points in F1 was no joke.

You jumped off the chair you were lounging in, ready to hug the man as you heard the door open but to your disappointment, it was only Arthur.

You groaned as you saw the boy and he scowled in return. You never knew how your rivalry began. One moment you were visiting Ollie for the first time at Prema and the next you were in a screaming match with a Monagasuque man with the cutest accent.

"What are you doing?" He asked, rather, demanded.

"Waiting for my friend," you replied with the same annoyance in your voice, "What are you doing here?" you accused, stepping towards him.

He pulled a face, closing the gap, "Here to support my friend, you know cause we can actually stand each other,"

"Hah, sure, at least I'm not jealous of my friends, you know cause they actually make it into f1," you shrugged, knowing it was a low blow.

His face morphed into anger as he pushed closer towards you, "You need to shut up," he spoke in a low voice, you'd be scared of the taller, much stronger boy if you weren't doused in anger yourself.

"Make me then," why did you say that- Oh shit.

Your eyes widened as he kissed you, making both of you stumble back and fall on Ollie's driver room bed. You groaned as your back hit the mattress, the older boy breaking the kiss, looking down at you in concern.

"O-oh, my god! Y/n I'm so sorry, I don't know wh-" he began rambling but you couldn't let him win, could you? So you kissed him back, letting your hands run through his hair.

He led one hand to your waist, letting it fall under your shirt, he hissed at the warmth your skin radiated under his palms.

"Oh my god, OH MY GOD," Someone yelled, making Arthur push off the bed, and fall on the floor.

"Ollie this isn't what it looks like," he explained from the floor making you frown.

"It isn't?" you asked making him turn to you.

"No, it is," he explained to you, then turned to shocked Ollie in the doorway, "I mean- it is," he tried to explain.

Ollie paused for a moment, "On my bed, really?" he replied, disgust in his voice.

You picked up the pillow on his now messed up bed, throwing it at his head, "Shut up,"

He laughed as he ducked, "Hey, at least none of us had to intervene," he confessed making you and the boy who was now getting up off the floor groan in defeat.

Honestly, who (is he) to fight the alchemy?

Max has been in love before. He knows what it feels like. It felt like winning a race. The adrenaline, the elation, the satisfaction, the sliver of relief. He didn’t think there was a better feeling, and if you feel that when you’re with someone, then that must be love.

He never felt like that with you. So he wasn’t in love. He loved you, but he wasn’t in love. Thank God for that, he’d always thought to himself. Max didn’t put effort into games he wouldn’t win and the games you played with men didn’t have a rule book. He was just so lucky, to have you as a friend, and a roommate, and a feline co-parent, and that’s how it would stay.

Except, when the journalist had asked him if you were going to live with him after he retired, he didn’t know what to say. Of course you would, except, how would your boyfriend feel about that? And of course he wanted you to, but he wanted a family, too. But you were family, in some complicated way that he’d never realised before that moment might mean that you wouldn’t always be…with him.

And he didn’t have the desire or the language skills to explain that to a random German journalist. He’d rattled off some answer about how he never knew what the future would bring. It was true, he didn’t think much about the future. But he should have, because when he did it always had you in it.

He wanted a house, and a wife, and kids. It wasn’t like he envisaged doing all that with you. Except, he hadn’t envisaged doing any of it without you, either. It was always you imagined having breakfast with, you he imagined would teach his kids to ski, you he thought about when he thought about buying one of those mansions in the hills above Monaco. Naively, he hadn’t imagined either of you with partners that would mind you and Max living your lives together. It sounded fucking stupid when he thought about it. But, it’s not like he was going to marry you, because he’s not in love with you.

It’s not like I’m in love with her. He’d said that before.

So now here he is, at this totally-not-a-party party, celebrating his this third world championship, wondering if he’s in love. Wondering if that even matters. The music is loud, not enough to drown out his thoughts. He can’t even drink too much because he still has a race tomorrow. He feels lightheaded enough.

He doesn’t know why he’s questioning himself. He has an answer. He knows what being in love feels like, and he doesn’t feel that about you. How he does feel about you, is…not quantifiable. Except he’d really like a name for it right about now. One that’s not going to spin his whole world off its axis. But then, he’s not exactly the axis, is he? Not really.

He should feel like the centre of the universe tonight. He’s lost count of how many times he’s received praise and congratulations, plaudits, and pictures, even gifts. Everyone wants to be in his orbit, everyone wants to talk to him, everyone except you.

You’re leaning against the balcony, bopping along to the music, talking to his dad of all people, your flushed face and lazy grin telltale signs you’ve had too much to drink. Jos is as close as he ever gets to smiling, a telltale sign he’s had too much to drink, and the two of you are, as usual, talking over each other. His eyes linger on your long legs and gentle curves. It would be cutting a corner, to say he’s in love with you, because how can you not be at least a little bit infatuated with the most beautiful woman you’ve ever seen? But that’s not love, exactly. Even half drunk, with all this talk of spinning and the party beginning to blur at its edges, the only thing he can see clearly is you. You don’t even notice him looking, because you’re so used to feeling eyes on you.

No, being around you has never felt like winning much of anything. It actually feels a bit like he’s fighting for his life. It feels like…driving, he realises, as the gin starts to hit.

Being around you was like being in the RB19. Like being behind the wheel of something that could kill you, but fits you like a second skin. Like the illusion of having control of a force of nature. It was like living on a knife edge, but building a home there. Comfortable with the uncomfortable, they’d called him, and nothing had ever made him as uncomfortable as you.

If that was being in love, he’d probably been in love with you for as long as his dad said he was.

You don’t notice him looking, but Jos does. He waves Max over, and Max is glad for an excuse. His body gets up before he’s decided to, and he blinks furiously as he walks, trying to focus his thoughts enough to hold a conversation with you when he’s beginning to think he might-

“Maxy,” you say, grinning like it’s the first time you’ve seen him all night.

Fuck. Fuck.

Oh, fuck. The gin’s coming back. For a second he feels like he’s either going to ask you to marry him or vomit all over you.

“I’m leaving. She’s all yours,” Jos says, and Max steadies himself. His dad leans over and gives him one last hug before switching to Dutch. “Get her to bed. And yourself, also. You’ve still got to race tomorrow,”

Max nods and waves him off, closing his arms around you when you wobble, leaning into him for stability. Jos gives you a pat on the shoulder before disappearing into the crowd, and you teeter again, pushing you further into Max. The extra weight is like a balm on what is now a gaping, raw wound, with the nerves exposed. He will never recover from this.

You turn in his arms, scrunching your nose in displeasure as you look up at him. “I hate this hat,” you flick the brim of his World Champion cap. “Worst hat they ever made you. Next year, we do a better one,”

“Okay,” he says, chuckling as the hat leaves his head.

“Can I have this?” You’ve already put it on.

“Sure,”

Take it. Take my Valkyrie. Take the trophy. Take my last name.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

He doesn’t know how he’s looking at you. Is it different than he looked at you two hours ago? Different then when you were 19?

He just shrugs, tipping the hat back for you, since it’s so big. “You’re drunk,” he yells over the music.

You lean in, so close that he’s intoxicated by the scent of your perfume, champagne, and Red Bull. He turns away from you slightly, because he’s had too much to drink to be this close to you.

“I know,” you whisper to him, your lips grazing his cheek as you talk. That’s not helping. He turns back to you, finding your eyes searching his. For the first time, he’s worried what you might see. Because you’ve always seen him too clearly. It was awful, then exhilarating, now it’s just fucking terrifying. Your eyes narrow and Max thinks you’re about to outright accuse him of wanting- “You’re supposed to be drunk, too,”

He laughs. He laughs at your pout, at getting away with it, for a little while longer, at least, and he laughs because on the night he’s won a world championship he realises he lost his heart a long time ago.

Loving you didn’t feel like a winning a race, it felt like driving in one. And after all, isn’t driving all he ever wanted to do?

“I am, Engel,” he says, “trust me, I am.”

#Prince Max and F1 Driver Charles

The Moment Charles looked back into that deep blue eyes he knew this was his one night stand. They hands touched softly while Max gave him the Trophy, it’s seems like time stand still. He could see Max lips moving but he didn’t hear anything.. to scared to let the trophy drip or worse do something stupid like kissing him.

Haha oh my god can you imagine Charles up on the podium with everyone watching him and suddenly realising that the guy who went down on him last week in a bathroom stall was a Prince. I think he would die 😂

Maybe Max would be smooth and slip Charles his phone number whilst also giving him the trophy, their hands meeting briefly and Max smiling and mouthing 'call me' ... although then the scrap of paper gets covered in champagne during the celebration and isn't readable.

just a turkey dinosaurs halloween mini fic, 1409 words

Daniel is not usually the most organised person, actually, he’s pretty sure nobody would ever use that word to describe him. He forgets to send birthday cards to his sister sometimes. Only remembers on her actual birthday and then it’s too late to send a card all the way to Perth.

But he is organised for Halloween this year.

It’s the first Halloween that Max will be regressed for. They’ve planned it out and Daniel can tell that Max is excited for his younger self to have this experience.

Daniel doesn’t know if Max really celebrated Halloween as a child, if he was allowed to dress up, eat too much candy, or even answer the door to trick or treaters. Max has never really said much about it, the only stories Max tells him about Halloween are the drunken shenanigans that he and Martin got up to at parties back in Amsterdam.

Anyway, Daniel wants to make little Max’s first Halloween very special.

It’s absolutely no surprise to Daniel when Max tells him he wants to be a dinosaur. Really, he shouldn’t have expected anything else.

“What kind of dinosaur?” Daniel had asked, determined to get Max a costume he loves.

“Big leafy boy, like Soup!” Max had blurted out with such excitement that his hands started flapping. It makes Daniel’s heart swell when Max is this happy about something. Soup is one of Max’s favourite plushies, he’s a large blue brontosaurus with an apparently mischievous personality and loves eating their house plants.

The problem Daniel has is that Max is fussy with clothes. He doesn’t like scratchy things. He doesn’t like when the clothes touch him wrong. So Daniel needs to find the perfect Brontosaurus costume that is very soft and doesn’t trigger Max’s sensory issues.

It’s a good job he is organised because it turns out that is quite a feat.

He doesn’t think Max will tolerate an inflatable costume, so he rules that out straight away. Even though Max would look adorable in it.

He looks through what feels like thousands of dinosaur costumes for adults determined to find the best one.

Eventually, he narrows it down to five and buys them all. Max can have options.

Max drops voluntarily on Halloween morning so he can spend the whole day doing Halloween activities with Daniel.

They bake cookies, watch what Max thinks are really scary movies, carve a pumpkin, and even decorate the apartment.

Eventually, when it’s getting later in the afternoon and the sun is beginning to set they try on the many costumes that Daniel had bought.

The first one is an instant no as the head hole is too tight around Max’s ears and he doesn’t like it. He pulls it off so quickly that he almost falls, Daniel having to steady him.

The second and third are declared scratchy, which means Max doesn’t like the way they feel against his skin. That’s not too surprising really, Max is very particular with how his clothes feel.

The fourth is apparently not the right colour so Max refuses to try it on, insisting that Soup is blue and not green so Max must also be a blue dinosaur. Fair enough, Daniel supposes.

“How is that?” Daniel asks Max, tugging the tail of the last Brontosaurus costume into position. “Does that feel comfortable?”

Max’s face is flushed and peeking out from the base of the long necked dinosaur. The hood of this costume is like a plushie, a pillow filled dinosaur neck and head standing tall on Max’s head. It’s so tall that Max is going to have to duck through the doorways in their apartment, but Max has assured Daniel that an actual dinosaur would have to duck too. Obviously.

Max wiggles from side to side, unsure. This is the fifth costume he has tried on and Daniel can see he is getting a little bit frazzled and flustered with it all. He just hopes this last one will be okay for Max.

He’s got a soft t-shirt on underneath the costume to hopefully stop any sensory issues with it touching his shoulders and chest.

“It’s okay,” Max says, and Daniel isn’t one hundred percent sure if Max is just saying that because he desperately wants to be a dinosaur, or if it is actually okay. But he does trust that Max will tell him if it gets too much.

“Alright,” Daniel says, if Max gets half way through the night and needs to take it off that is fine. Daniel bought plenty of spooky pyjamas from a brand he knows Max likes and they can always swap to those. “Give me a roar then!”

“Grrrrrrr,” Max says so softly, it’s not intimidating at all. It’s actually one of the cutest things Daniel has ever heard.

There is a knock on the door at around 6pm. Max has his dinosaur costume on and Daniel is dressed up as Alan Grant from Jurassic Park, hat and all. He wanted to match his boy somehow and he figured he had half of the things for this outfit anyway.

“I wonder who that is,” Daniel says to Maxy, “Do you want to answer?”

Max shakes his head, suddenly nervous. “Together?”

Daniel holds Max’s hand as they walk to the door, giving it a gentle reassuring squeeze as Max pulls on the handle to open it.

“Trick or treat!!” Michael shouts. He’s wearing one of the most ridiculous costumes that Daniel has ever seen.

“Mikey!” Max is looking up at him in awe. “You’re a turkey dinosaur!”

“Just don’t eat me, Maxy!” Michael says as he makes his way into the apartment. His bizarre costume only just making it through the door. Daniel is going to have to ask him where on earth he bought it later.

“I won’t,” Max tells him solemnly, “I only eat leaves don’t worry.”

Daniel can’t help the laughter that bursts out of him, Max is so unintentionally funny. He doesn’t even realise it.

Max takes Michael’s hand and leads him towards the kitchen, chatting away about the cookies that he made and the pumpkin that he carved. Desperate to show Michael his creations.

Daniel makes to follow them, but then the door knocks again.

“Daddy get it!” Max shouts from the kitchen. “I’m showing Mikey my pumpkin!”

When Daniel swings the door open Captain America is stood on the other side. Brad looks quite the part, holding his shield in a power pose.

“What are you supposed to be?” Brad asks him when he realises that it’s Daniel opening the door and not Max.

“I’m Alan Grant,” Daniel says, and then adds “My dinosaur is in the kitchen.”

“Is the dinosaur having a good Halloween?” Brad asks as he makes his way into the apartment.

Before Daniel can answer Max comes charging through from the kitchen, tail wiggling from left to right as he runs. He almost barrels into Brad who only just moves his shield out of the way in time to wrap Max in a hug.

“Brad!” He squeaks, “you’re here!”

The evening goes much better than Daniel could have even imagined. He is so glad that he invited Michael and Brad, it’s important that Max gets to spend time with people who love him for who he authentically is.

Max even gets to do some trick or treating when Michael and Brad stand behind some of the doors in the apartment and hand out candy. It’s a little ridiculous, but Max loves it. The sound of his happy giggle filling their apartment makes Daniel’s heart swell with love.

Seeing a huge smile on Max’s face will always make Daniel’s day, but today in particular he’s so glad he could give Max a happy Halloween with his favourite people around.
