Really excited to post this one cuz he's my fav character, my first brainrot, my crush when I was just a wee lad. He's Bod's guardian and to me, he's even more like a father to Bod than Bod's adopted parents themselves. I have a serious obsession w him ngl askjdhalsd. I do wanna draw more of him soon when I have the time :3

Made this little illustration after rereading The Graveyard Book !!
It was one of my favorite books as a child but I never had the occasion to read it since, and I forgot the whole story.
It was a joy to rediscover this magical tale 💙💜

Talking to a friend today about The Graveyard Book, and actually found myself saying these exact words in this exact order:
"it's a really fun, loving, wonderful story. It all starts when a boy's family is being murdered... "
I think some things only work when they're written by Neil Gaiman.
Also, I hope no one else heard me say those words 🙈😄

What better way then to draw a Third Illustration to The Graveyard Book where in Chapter 2, Bod and Scarlett have been friends for awhile but when they enter down through the Crypt and enter The Indigo Man and The Sleer (only here, I've drew the Indigo Man) where Bod protects Scarlett from these Strange Crypt Creatures.
The Graveyard Book (c) Neil Gaiman

Being addressed as "sir" is of course weird for me as a trans woman (I brush it off by repeating to myself "I'm a cool girl, I'm a I'm a cool girl" in Tove Lo's voice). But being addressed as "ma'am" still feels a bit weird to me somehow too, even though it's less dysphoric.
I think the part that's still weird is just being noticed. Gender: Bod Owens.

"I want to see life. I want to hold it in my hands. I want to leave a footprint on the sand of a desert island. I want to play football with people. I want," he said, and then he paused and he thought. "I want everything."

I found my cemeteries goul-gate, it was old, and all and all looked batterd, though the part that stood out the most to me was the little animal statue on top (it was either a horse or cow) its head had broken off.

Bod reading with his guardian <3
(Maybe some day I'll actually draw Silas's face, but for now I love him blending in the shadows)

I’m about halfway through The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, I may not be finished but it’s definitely one of the most incredible books I’ve read so far.

Now, I know that Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett have very different styles of writing, although they compliment each other greatly.
BUT.
When I read the Graveyard Book, in which, Silas, an old and generally powerful vampire, decides that the best way to save his adoptive son from being kidnapped by the cops, is to THROW HIMSELF in front of the moving cop car, and then play dead for a while (mind you, it doesn't kill him, but he admits in the book that it actually hurts a lot), the first thing I thought was " That stupid man would fit in perfectly in Ankh Morpork".
I mean come on!! That moves is in line with Otto's nearly suicidal fascination with the light, and is carries such a "Vimes-esque" level of drama. That bitch was extra and dramatic for no reason and I love him for it.
