I grew up as the weird (autistic) goth kid who spent a lot of time in graveyards. I didn’t have friends. So I invented them. That’s why I’m an author, I think. I crafted worlds full of wondrous diversity, quirky characters, peculiar souls. I knitted them into families. I often felt at home when I read; the work of Neil Gaiman, of Terry Pratchett, of Ursula Le Guin, of Terry Brooks… My fiction is meant to be participatory too. When you read it, you should feel like you came home and friends were waiting to greet you.
Maybe in a really cool graveyard—like this one at Scone Castle.

Lots of people make fun of Jonathan Harker for not recognizing what's up with Dracula, despite the warning signs...And I feel the need to point out that Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book" had Silas, a character who:
• does not cast a reflection
• only eats one kind of ( unspecified) food
• is very pale, has razor sharp nails, makes people feel insecure/ troubled for no apparent reason
• sleeps through the day and only comes out after sunset
• is neither dead nor alive
• sleeps inside a trunk filled with earth
• crawls down walls head first
• can fly and is compared to a bat when doing so
• has some form of mind control powers
• is bothered/ weakened by sunlight in some form
And people to this day question what kind of being this man could possibly be. I somehow doubt you all would have done any better than Jonathan. Modern readers seem to be just as, if not more more oblivious than him if a story does not explicitly spell out that it's featuring a vampire.

A continuation of their last adventure !
Silas' moth friend is a little unhappy being kept on a backpack leash, but he'll do it under one condition...

I finished a tribute sketch that I made for Neil Gaiman's Birthday, the amazing author who's given us the Sandman of our Dreams, the Coraline of our Mischief, the Stardust of our Skies, the Didi of our Eternity, the Graveyard of our Mysteries, and so many more!

I’m about halfway through The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, I may not be finished but it’s definitely one of the most incredible books I’ve read so far.

Can I just say @neil-gaiman that I’m usually in bed and ready to sleep at 8 or 9pm CST, but ever since July 28th my sleep schedule is garbage and my emotions are all over the place. With love - I blame you; I’m heartbroken; I’m seen; I’m devastated; I’m loved; I’m understood; i understand; I would hate to be anywhere than where I am right now (metaphorically)
This is why I love stories. I only hope to create something a quarter as compelling as what you have.
(Few of my favorites besides good omens are wolves in the walls, the graveyard book, and the ocean at the end of the lane)

Sometimes I take my dog for a walk and while I'm walking I'm wondering what Nobody Owens is up to these days. Did he manage to see the world? Visit an island? Did he study history and correct his professors? Has he gone off to explore ancient graveyards or did he become an archeologist? Would anyone be interested in a fan fic answering those lines? 😄

Finished the Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Somehow, it all came back full circle. I always leave a Neil Gaiman book feeling so full in my heart, a little heavier for the stories I carry forward with me. It always alters me, and the way I look at the world, just a little bit each time. Truely bookish magic is the very best sense of the word. 5 stars.

My take on Nobody Owens from The Graveyard Book! Smuggled in my silly character as well because I think they'd be good friends

Ok got these for my 7 yo niece. The wolves in the walls is very cute.
Not sure if the graveyard book is a little thick for a 7 year old though.. but I plan on reading it before I decide if I’m gonna give it to her or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️ if all else fails I wait a year or two.
Every kid book I saw was like ages 1-6 or 8-12. I don’t know why it seems like Neil skipped 7 year olds lmao
