Mel Headcanons!!

I did my best to organize these, but they're all incredibly random with no real theme so I'm sorryyy!!😭

TLOU Universe HCs:

Mel has a pile of those adult coloring books that she always picks up on patrol thinking she'll enjoy doing them but never does because she hates how everything looks so boxy

She doesn't like cooking very much but she will spend hours making home cooked meals for her patients and has done so multiple times for Manny's dad

Mel found Alice wandering the streets as a puppy and saved her from infected and brought her back to the stadium

She learned how to do Nora's hair when they were kids cause Nora wasn't properly taught and accidentally got a brush stuck in it

She keeps her hair short because it got grabbed by an infected when she was younger

She fell asleep in the truck on the was home from a long patrol and drooled on Manny's shoulder (he was not amused but let her sleep)

Mel thoroughly enjoys Cards Against Humanity

When she swore for the first time, everyone was in shock and Manny nearly choked to death on his drink

Mel's laughed so hard she's peed herself and Leah has pictures of the exact moment

Miscellaneous (some Mel x Abby x Nora because fuck you I'm not sorry):

She likes playing cute games like Stardew Valley but also loves games like Until Dawn (even though she's really bad at quick time events)

Mel has stepped on a pack of earrings before and instead of yelling in pain, she fell back and sat there stunned for a few minutes before getting up like nothing happened

Mel is the first person to stick up for Abby if someone's making fun of her and vice versa

She's cried to Abby and Nora about her appearance and they always make sure to comfort her and make her feel like the queen she is

Miss Melon sleeps with fuzzy socks on cause her feet get cold so easily

She always forgets to bring gloves on cold days so Abby and Nora both keep spare pairs (sometimes she intentionally doesn't bring them and begs to stick her hands in their coat sleeves)

She loves banana pancakes and cries every time someone makes them for her

Mel isn't a huge fan of baths but will take them if Nora or Abby ask her to join them (Abby especially finds them comforting)

Abby's had to carry Mel home while she was drunk because she kept trying to go into a closed gift shop

She came out to Manny before she did to anyone else

Mel has accidentally gotten locked in a stairwell at a mall and had to call Abby and Nora as well as the fire station to get her out

She's forced Abby to sit in the backseat of the car because she kept fucking with the radio, Abby did pout the entire ride home

She cried the first time she got pulled over because the thought she'd go to jail for a broken tail light

She's helped Abby through so many panic attacks that she has a system put in place

She's accidentally dropped an entire thing of chili powder into a pot of chili and just kept stirring because she was fed up

If Ted & Rebecca Were The Leads In Nora Ephron’s Movies

What do you think is the reason behind Ted and Rebecca having very few scenes together? It's beyond frustrating! Even when we know it's deliberate, it's still too much. They're practically almost avoiding each other.

We've been seeing all the parallels and connections since s1 but when are THEY going to?? I just need them to have any interaction that is not 5 seconds long with a bunch of other people around.

But I'm still holding on to the hope that the less we see of them together now means the more later, otherwise what are we even doing here?

I think it's absolutely intentional - the use of misdirection is so deliberate, the classic rom-com bait and switch, keeping the two romantic leads apart in order to bring them together in a meaningful way. Look at the scene with Tish, is it going to push Rebecca to face her own self-admitted fear of being alone and stop pushing Ted away?

The amount of Nora Ephron references (specifically When Harry Met Sally, which Brett quite rightly states is the greatest rom-com of all time!) when it comes to their dynamic is something I am completely obsessed with and I may have to make a very long post about it! If we look at a few examples, I think it's a good indication of where the writers are leading us!

From the very start, Ted & Rebecca's dynamic has been very Sally Albright & Harry Burns coded. Two people who initially clash, but become friends...and eventually fall in love.

Similarly, the dynamic between Joe Fox & Kathleen Kelly in You've Got Mail - Kathleen thinks Joe is out to destroy her business, but when she gets to know him through an anonymous chatroom, she falls in love with him and accepts that he's not the man she thought he was when they finally meet - he's actually the man she needs.

Sam & Annie in Sleepless in Seattle - Sam, a single father, seeks help from a therapist to deal with his grief and ends up meeting Annie. They have their big rom-com meet cute at the top of the Empire State Building and Annie becomes step-mother to Sam's son.

After Rebecca's meeting with Tish, I'm holding onto the hope that our patience will be rewarded!!! x

Nesta Archeron (Harry Potter AU)- Chapter 9 (It Shall Be...)

Summary: The first years have come forth to receive their houses. They represent not only their strengths but their personalities.

The first years passed through two double doors that were as tall as a skyscraper tower. When they made it inside, the room looked like a cafeteria but more elegant. The light in the room was caused by a bunch of candles that were floating in mid air. To make it more suitable, the ceiling had been replaced with a night sky with millions of stars.

“There’s still a ceiling.” Emerie pointed out as Nesta’s left. “It’s just been bewitched to make it look like a night sky.”

“Oh, no wonder I can still see parts of the ceiling.” Nora replied.

The first years stopped when they noticed a strange hat. It was dark brown and wrinkly, like it’s been used for decades. Nesta leaned over to Emerie and whispered, “Is that the sorting hat?” she asked as Emerie shrugged. “I think so.”

“Wait right here please.” Viviane said as the children waited just before the first step. “Before we began, my husband would like to say a few words.”

Nesta looked at Nora with confusion. “Husband?” Nora nodded. “Kallias. High Lord of the Winter Court. His age was never confirmed but they say he’s one of the oldest high lords in history.”

A middle aged man stood up from a seat behind the table from the stairs. He was wearing glasses, a wizard robe, and a wizard hat. “I would like to state a few ground rules. First years please note, that the dark forest is strictly prohibited to all students.” Kallias stated as the students were left to wonder what it was. “Also, Professor Beron has asked me to remind you that the third floor is also prohibited.” Nesta noticed that Kallias was directing his attention behind the students. Nesta turned back to see another middle aged man. He was wearing a dark shirt with dark brown pants and he looked at the students with a horrifying glare. What made him more terrifying was the cat that was next to his legs. Nesta kept a small note in her mind to stay away from Eris’s father.

Kallias sat back down in his seat and let his wife continue. “When I call your name, you will come forth and sit on the stool. I will placed the hat upon your head and the hat will sort you into your houses.” Viviane looked on a scroll of paper and called out the first name.

“Emerie Stone!” Emerie’s heart skipped a beat. She knew a lot of things. How to bathe a newborn dragon. How to look for a unicorn in the dead of night. How to make the perfect green tea. But she was not prepared for her name to be called first.

Emerie walked up to the stool and sat on it. Viviane placed the hat on her head and the hat had begun to speak. “Alright then, my first victim.”

“What?”

“I know exactly where to put you. Ravenclaw!” Emerie smiled and sighed as the other Ravenclaws cheered for her. Emerie got off the stool and sat down with the other Ravenclaws.

“Morrigan Fallout!” Morrigan smirked and sat on the stool. The hat didn’t even have to be on her head to know her house. “Gryffindor!” The Gryffindors cheered as Gwyn whispered to Nesta, “There’s not a witch or wizard who went bad that wasn’t in Gryffindor.”

“Nora Bonnette.” Nora gulped and made her way to the stool. After she sat down, the sorting hat was on her head and it had begun to speak. “Let’s see....let’s see...I know, Slytherin!” The Slytherins cheered as Nora made her way to the Slytherin table.

“Gwyneth Bedara!” Gwyn shook on the inside as she made her way to the stool. The hat was placed on her head, its voice making her flinch. “Ha! Another twin. I know just where to put you. Hufflepuff!” Most of the Hufflepuffs cheered but Cerridwen and Nuala were the loudest. Gwyn blushed and made her way to the Hufflepuffs.

“Catrin Bedara!” Catrin nodded and made her way to the stool. The sorting hat was placed on her head. “You must be the other twin. Correct?” The hat asked a question. Catrin tried not to nod. “Yes, I am.”

“Then have it be, Hufflepuff!” Catrin sighed in relief, grateful that she and Gwyn won’t have to be separated.

“Nesta Archeron!” Nesta gasped. She almost forget that she had a name. Nesta made her way to the stool and sat down. The sorting hat didn’t waste time on introductions. “Ah, I see...a fellow Archeron. Your father was fond of cats you know.” Nesta had nearly forgotten about the ball of fluff that was sitting in her lap. Nesta smiled a little. “I guess he was.”

“Now then, where shall I put you child.?” he asked as Nesta trembling, thinking of the horrible thought that the hat would put her in Gryffindor. “Not Gryffindor. Anywhere but Gryffindor.”

No Gryffindor? Too bad. Then it shall be...SLYTHERIN!”

Lucky was startled by the outburst but Nesta held her close. After she made her way to the other Slytherins, Nora hugged her wrapping her arms around her neck. “I’m so glad you and I are in Slytherin together.”

“Me too.” Nesta replied as Lucky meowed and purred against Nora’s lap. Lily the toad leaped onto the cat’s back and hugged her as well.

The young Slytherins chuckled, happy to see their pets getting along. Sure her other friends were in the other houses, but at least none of them were in Gryffindor.

Have you ever feel that Jaune got to much focus? I mean he's called a main charater (for better or worse) in a show called RWBY. About Team RWBY. It's just looking at both sides as much as I like Jaune maybe their was or still is to much focus on him.

Hardly.

Tell me something. Did Sasuke get too much focus in a show called Naruto? Did Knuckles get too much attention in the show Sonic X? What about Harry Potter? One Punch Man? Hey Arnold?

The Jaune "getting too much focus because the show is called RWBY" is the saddest, weakest excuse ever uttered. Jaune is a main character, along with Ren and Nora, who, need I remind you all, got plenty of love and attention despite not being "Team RWBY"?

Now, does the FNDM give him too much attention? My second favorite tag on this hiellsite is "jaune arc," AFTER "rwby," agrees with this statement, and to be honest, I don't think that's a problem with the show's writing as much as it is with the audience's reception of him.

There being "too much focus" on Jaune is only in comparison to the weaker writing for the "main characters" because the show puts more effort into the action and the plot than into the development of the core cast of Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang.

Ruby has silver eyes and is supposed to be the hero who saves the world, but it wasn't until Volume 9 that she really got a solid win for her character.

Weiss comes back home in Volume 7 and her biggest character moment is when she's stopping her father's escape. Then... nothing.

Blake and Yang are by far the worst because their characters are now wholly reliant on each other. And before that, Yang's character was reliant on Ruby while Blake's character relied on the White Fang plot, which ended in Volume 5, and Adam, who died in Volume 6.

But what about Jaune's character? Well, let's see; Jaune was the loser everyman character who acted as the foil to the prodigal child of destiny that was Ruby Rose. His partner, Pyrrha "Invincible Girl" Nikos, takes him under her wing and trains him as her mentor. She then dies, leaving him to train and grow on his own despite his team being there, whereas Ruby loses her entire team and gets their help to accomplish reaching Mistral.

...Typing this out, yeah, I would say Jaune got more thought and effort put into his story and character development, but I don't think it's "too much". If anything, I'd say the issue is RWBY didn't get enough. All we got for them were flashy moves and kicks and bruises, but it's all shallow, surface-level development. Looking back, I see RWBY as the same people as they were at Beacon, while Jaune has completely changed since his initial appearance.

And again, that's not Jaune getting too much attention. It's just RWBY never really grew up right.
