Let’s talk about synastry. 💞 I know you ladies (i hope u guys too) love that topic and here are some observations of mine. Take only what resonates for you and enjoy it! 😇

*Good synastry won’t save your relationship and the bad one will not destroy it. ⚠️

• If someone’s Moon falls in your 12th house or vice versa, that is a guarantee for you to dream a lot that person, and it’s not just dreams, more like intuitive or vivid ones. When you dream of them you may have the feeling your conversations are real or telepathically. Very spiritual bond, especially if the Moon is in water sign. 🦀🦂🐡

• Sun - Mars hard aspects… The Sun person will be always on battle within themselves do they like or hate the Mars person. Not so favourable aspect, but the s*xual tension is off the charts.🌶️If Tom and Jerry have synastry chart, I’m pretty sure this aspect will be there. 😁

• If someone's inner planets falls in your 6th house, there is a chance to turns out that the planet person it is not your friend at all. 🔪If it comes to romantic couple it’s possible the 6th house person to be betrayed emotionally/s*xually, especially if the planets are Venus, Mars or Moon. Because sixth house is not only about our health, daily routine and etc. it is also about who are our open enemies.😈 Just be careful.🤞

• When Vertex or Anti-vertex make tight conjunct to NN/SN or planets - this can be an indicator for you guys were meant to meet each other and it will make a significant impact on you. ✨

• The conjunction between Saturn and Venus, it’s a big indicator for having a karmic relationship with someone. This aspect comes with ups and downs, the Venus person can feel a little bit restricted by the Saturn person, but there is a big chance for the couple to grown together and stay together for really long time. Infact i often noticed that when it comes to synastry, people really dislike this aspect, but why? There is not only bad in karmic connections it all depends on what kind of fate you two have. In my eyes can be a little annoying to have this placement with someone, because that will make you do sacrifices and things that you wouldn’t do for any other else, just because you trully believe in that this is your person, even if this is not actually the truth.

• Pay attention when someone’s Pluto falls in your second house. And no, not just because there is a 100% chance there will be too much possession and jealousy, but more about the fact that your partner may take the control over your money, but not necessarily in a good way. As we know Pluto it’s all about transformations, so there can be a great chance for you to earn money/presents 💸🎁 from that person or you can feel more financially confident with them, you never know. My advice is to be more cautious when it comes to your money, if you have this placement with someone.

people think you're very self oriented and love to have the power over them. maybe you have leader qualities and they can see that. i'd say they think you're more likely to choose logic over emotions. they think you're def the overthinker one. they know you know you're worth and know when and what to say something. they can feel that you like to be seen as cold hearted and powerful. in your head being numb equals having power. people think you're very materalistic as in, whatever you wear you make it seem expensive. people think you're very soft inside but don't let a lot people in. sometimes they can sense that deep down you're really insecure and they can see the other side of you. where you're not sure of anything you do, you don't trust yourself enough. sometimes you come off as really complex and a lot. you seem to be stuck on something. you want to let it go but can't really do it cause you get used to it. so that's why people can sense your imbalance energy. you could be indecisive or air headed these days. still, people know you have the strength to get over it. you could intimidate people at first but when they see the real you -which you dont show it to many they love it. maybe you got hurt on the past, that's why you put a mask like that. you could be very obsessive, and passionate about the things you love. you come off as competitive too.

hey pile 3, why do you feel so alone even if you're out with your friends? you like to ask people for advice but somehow you don't trust them as much as you trust yourself. i mean good for you but people -maybe your friends can tell that you're faking your feelings sometimes? maybe you feel the need to be happy around everyone even if you feel like shit. they can tell that. there's this person you are stuck on. it seems like you arent able to let them go. people really wonder about you guys. you could be a heartbreaker too. you and your friends are sarcastic people. people could get annoyed by the fact that you guys have fun lol. people think you have it all and you will have it all. they dont like the fact that they cant get a piece of you, your space, your time. it's like, there are people who want you but you got someone else on your mind who you seem to cant have. you like to learn more and more. you're very smart and people like that. but there's just this unknown people love about you. you have the friends, you have the grades, you have the face but what is it that makes you sad(?) and broken? people wonder the shit out of this lmao and you don't give them a chance to understand it. you tend to zone out a lot during the day and your thoughts makes you go nuts. people just seem to curious about you. they don't know enough. the more you don't give them the chance the more they wonder. people feel that you have tons of other shit to do than answer their questions. they know they don't deserve to steal your time like that.

"Really?" Scara snorts, crossing his arms as he raises an brow at you. "What exactly about me do you like? because i don't see anything particularing endearing about me."

"Everything," you say without hesitation.

"That explains so much, genius." Another roll of his eyes. "You have to be specific, or else I will think you're making stuff up."

"Alright alright. I love your personality," you respond, lifting up your eyebrows.

Scara looks at you with a face that says 'be so for real'. "So you like it when I insult you and say degrading things towards you?"

You waggle your brows at him. "Oh yeah. That's my favorite part."

"Youre... " He stares at you with a mixture of shock and baffled. "You are insane."

You burst into laughter, doubling over. "Your face! its priceless!"

He scoffs and turns away, waving you off. "I dont have time for this nonsensical chat. You may leave."

"I ain't going nowhere because I love you pookie," you sing.

Scara turns with a disgusted look on his face, but theres a smile tugging at his lips. "What did I say about you calling me that?"

"Sowwy schnookums."

Scara sighs, exasperated. "You're so annoying and strange. But I still dont understand why you like me out of all people."

"Well, I... i just want to see you happy." You give him a small genuine smile. He studies you for a moment.

"Even after all I've done? People dont view me as a monster for no reason."

"I dont care. I can see the real you underneath all that bitterness. I care for you unconditionally."

"Even if I betray you? I use you for my own benefit?" He tilts his head, watching you. You nod. "Even if I said 'I never want to see your face again'?"

"I'm sure it would be for a good reason. Besides, I would never hate you for it either," you reply, gazing upward.

"How? No one has ever cared for me, even so like me. What makes you any different?" Scara questions, eyebrows furrowed.

You take his hand in your own, and his eyes widen a bit. Suddenly, the world zooms in on the both of you. "Because I love you, Scara. More than you could possibly imagine. I've stayed here for so long because of you. I want to be with you. i want to make you smile and laugh and be happy. I want you to feel better about yourself, to give yourself a break. I never want to hear the words "I wish I hadn't been born at all" from you ever again, because Archons, I love you."

It's like time has frozen. Scaramouche stares at you, silent as a mouse. Eyes wide, breath still. You hold his gaze, hoping he could see the sincerity and affection in your eyes. How your world revolved around his.

And he did see. It was so unfamiliar, so scary that he... he couldnt help but tremble, his hands quivering in your own. What did it mean, to be loved? it was an experience so surreal, Scara was sure he was having a lucid dream or a really convincing hallucination.

"You... love me?" He asks, so quietly, you could barely pick up the words. You nod slowly, squeezing his hand in affirmation.

"I love you," you repeat, so softly and full of emotion.

And it broke him.

He buries his face in the crook of your shoulder suddenly, his hand gripping yours tighter. His shoulders are hunched, and you can feel the heat resonating off his face.

The boy is embarrassed. No one has ever said something of the sort, and frankly he didnt know what to say. You chuckle, running your fingers through his hair reassuringly. It helps, and he stiffens a bit less. A soft sigh slips past his lips. Its surprisingly relaxing, though he would never admit it out loud.

"Its okay, we'll take it slow," you whisper softly into his ear.

"Thank you," he murmurs softly, his arms snaking around your waist slowly.

"I love you too. More than you can ever imagine."

genuinely thank you so much for writing thtf. it's my favourite thing to read in the whole world for so many reasons. like other than where it's obviously devastating (in SUCH a good way), idk it just makes me so happy

I think it's the first wip i followed from start to finish and I have to say that part of 2022 was not the greatest but yk, every few days there'd be a new chapter. and it was great.

I fucking love Dorcas talking about "a butterfly in the palm of your hand" it's changed the way I think so much. like you would not expect this from a fanfic lmao but it's pretty much exactly what I needed to hear at the time. living just to live, even if it's complete shit, not caring about what they're leaving behind. ch 42 (i think) where all they're doing is just washing the dishes but it's so special and they're listening to dawn storm is so important to me I love it SO much. fucking amazing.

ngl I don't really think there's anything I don't like. every character feels so right - regulus in particular sticks out to me, like there's such a good balance between him doing pretty bad things because he's not a particularly "good person" but also not being a complete dick. also I would die for marlene mckinnon and the way you write her is just so fucking good. the way she is just so alive to make up for her shorter life is so beautiful to me. I could ramble on for a very long time about everything in this fic but I dont want this to get too long lol

the music you put on the chapters is also really good like I'm pretty sure the first time I read it I didn't listen the music and then I reread it with the music and it was like a whole different experience

yeah i would've sent this earlier (like maybe a year ago) but looks like I put it off for a really long time lol

ahh thank u this is so sweet! i love hearing that thtf resonated w people it definitely feels like the fic kinda took on its own life & became a little philosophical journey that i was not entirely expecting lol. i think writing a story where i knew my main characters were going 2 die the whole time really made me contemplate like. ok what do i actually want 2 say abt death, and by way of that what do i wanna say abt life? bc like. as someone who doesn't believe in an afterlife i didn't wanna write a story that says "well it's ok bc they can be happy in the afterlife" <3 bc like. that does not comfort me lol. & i also didn't wanna write a story that was like "it's ok bc there's gonna be a good future 4 others after them," bc i think life means something and matters even outside of futurity. i didn't wanna play into this narrative that u have 2 Do Something 2 make ur life meaningful by making sure u have an impact on the future, etc; i wanted 2 write abt life as meaningful outside of that. & i also specifically wanted 2 write abt life as something beautiful & meaningful even with the bad stuff mixed in, and even if death is abrupt and scary and painful and unwanted. like i purposely made both their deaths pretty brutal bc i personally find the idea of a "bad death" really scary! the idea of dying before ur ready, dying scared or alone or in pain or all three, etc...and i think part of why that's so scary is bc we place this big emphasis, again, on a linear timeline of life, where death is The End, and if The End is bad, then the story's a sad one. but death is just one moment in the sum total of billions of moments throughout your life; why should that bad cancel out all the good? why should a story be sad, just because the last page of it is sad? you can open the book to any page and find happiness, and love, and warmth, etc. & that's what i'm trying 2 say w "a story is not its end."

anyway. this got much longer than expected lol i love 2 ramble abt thtf but! again ty 4 the kind words glad u enjoyed the fic glad u enjoyed the music as well!! i love the playlist 4 that fic <3

what’s your opinion on monstrous transformations (both fast and slow), and also more controversially what do you think about having monsters/nonhuman characters serve as minority allegory (as opposed to society’s hate for them being being an allegory)

ohhh hold on this is a rly good question i think abt a Lot actually.

ok getting the first bit out of the way, love a good monstrous transformation. fast, slow, its all good. i personally like gradual slow shifts the most but its a situational thing. transformation is one of those things that like just always has to be symbolic. even more than the degree to which Everything is symbolic ya know. so like context rly matters when it comes to how to invoke it most effectively.

MOVING ON

i think from the phrasing of the ask ur looking for something more along the lines of like. for example shapeshifters as representation of nonbinary people or aliens as representation of different cultures rather than like monsters vs humans as allegory for racism. but im also not sure you can meaningfully separate the two! the latter i think is more overused so it like registers more as an immediate red flag, but its like. if the aliens from avatar werent being violently invaded by humans it wouldnt make like their reskinned stereotypical indigeneity anymore tolerable i dont think.

which isnt to say i think every story that draws connections between fantastical fictional species and real world people are inherently bad. i dont really think theres any trope that i believe cant be handled well by anyone under any circumstance. the super easy fix to bad rep via monster or fantasy creature characters is basically just have actual humans who also represent those same identities and communities and experiences so that the audience isnt drawn to connect the traits of any one group with your fictional species.

the harder fix is to like seriously analyze why you want this character to be a monster and what that says about them and what that says about you and your own experiences and biases and what you actually want to communicate with the inclusion of this character. and when applicable hire a sensitivity reader. its kinda crazy how many pieces of media seem to prefer half-assing the hard way over just doing the easy thing and not assigning the status of token minority to a literal monster.

of course once again all of this is ya know circumstantial. im speaking to like my own experiences and the things ive observed. and its weird too! bc im also speaking as someone who like is trans and nonbinary and thinks of myself and my gender expression as inherently intertwined with monstrosity. and as someone who is autistic and thinks of myself as a changeling. and as someone who is a fat person who represents themself with a pig themed sona. if i talk abt cringeass hollywood blockbusters engaging in High Fantasy Racism i feel like to be fair i kinda have to talk about independent own-voices creators who write stories and make art about their own identities in the lovely language of monstrosity. theres not rly a way to draw a hard line around the former without the risk of catching some of the latter.

so umm as usual i dont rly have a snappy all encompassing answer for how i feel abt this kind of characterization. im simply too much of a Nuance Enjoyer. i do i guess think this is something that generally turns out better when it is someone making art about their own experiences, but also unless i believe minority artists are a monolith, which i dont, i need to accept that artists will inevitably make stuff that is beautiful and resonant to some people and totally repugnant and offensive to others, and that both of those responses can be like totally justified and correct. thats art babey!

anyway slight digression but i think any case where a character feels more like an allegory than a fully fleshed u know Character is gonna flop for me no matter how relatable it is. tbqh, id rather more ppl try and fail to make beautiful grotesque frightening sensually moving monsters out of their lived experiences and their empathetic connections with others than succeed at creating bland toothless universally approachable Good Rep tm. if u know u know. if u feel me u feel me. that is all.

@zoeyfoster-blog Omg I'm extremely biased, but I would say yes. For one, GX is a comedic masterpiece especially if you watch the dub. Yes the dub takes itself way less seriously and changes a lot of stuff from the canon japanese version BUT. It's so funny. It's so so so funny. Other then that I mean, GX is just a fun show with fun characters. I love the characters dearly (Chazz it up for life), but it's not like. The most brilliant piece of media out there. It's a pretty standard show for kids really. Though it get's really angsty and dark in seasons 3-4. Idk I really love it personally. If I were you, I'd watch s1, maybe early season 2 dubbed, because those parts of the show are a lot more silly and watching them dubbed would make it more funny/enjoyable. But def switch to sub on the more serious episodes like those in s3. Also thank you for liking my art :'D!!

૮(ˊ ᵔ ˋ)ა 💭: you and kuroo’s relationship seems like it would be light-hearted, supportive and mature. it’s exhilarating like a rollercoaster ride, or a summer day at the beach, but at the same time, it can be calm like the waves in the early morning. this relationship is full of teasing, playful banter (which would be initiated by kuroo) and giggles, and prolonged embraces and meaningful apologies when jokes accidentally cross the comfort border :)

SO... WHY ORANGE CHIFFON?

orange chiffon, in my opinion, looks like a colour that resonates with happy moments, laughter and encouragement, which are things that i think encapsulates you and kuroo as a couple. i believe that in this relationship, you and kuroo spend a lot of time teasing each other (whether it be you making fun of his bedhead, or him making fun of your height), and that is what makes your relationship light-hearted. i can also imagine you and kuroo spending a lot of time laughing with each other—maybe you share the same humour, but i’m sure it’s because you’re both comfortable with each other. i feel like kuroo would also try really hard to make you laugh as he views it as an accomplishment that fuels his confidence!

however, orange chiffon is much lighter than the typical orange colour, and also toned down in vibrancy. to me, this somewhat represents a sense of maturity. a typical orange colour would be brighter, indicating more energy, which i think, would be more likely to associate with naïve teenage relationships. while you and kuroo have your fun being together, it’s slightly different to a relationship between two sixteen-year-olds who fall in love for the first time. i also have a feeling that you’re not each other’s first loves, but you’re each other’s most memorable love—the kind of love that you cannot forget. you could have started off as friends who attended the same high school, and eventually as time went on, when you’re both older and wiser, you fell in love with both the good and bad parts about each other.

because of kuroo’s constant teasing, i feel like disputes mostly arise from that. it sometimes seems like he’s never taking things seriously, but he just assumes that a joke here and there could make you feel better. or sometimes, he goes a little bit overboard, and says something insensitive. while kuroo is proud, he’s never unwilling to admit when he’s done something wrong. he handles most disputes maturely, and as an indirect way to ask for forgiveness, i can see him cleaning the dishes even though it’s your turn to do so today, or taking out your set of pyjamas and leaving them on your bed so you don’t have to get them yourself. it might take you a while to forgive him, but at the end of the day, you always walk back into his arms while he profusely apologises. and of course, his way of making up to you is by spending time with you, suggesting to watch your favourite movie or television show while cuddling you the whole time.

💗 What would your OC say is their best feature? Why? What do their friends / family / lover(s) / people they know think is their best feature and why?

i think we all understand Mio's vanity is a character in itself by now but to get all Deep and Introspective about it, there is something to be said for how manifestation in physical form is a belief that his culture very much celebrates and upholds. statues, carvings, reliefs, paintings -- art mediums that intentionally capture the form of a person are revered as ways to shape that person into what they would like to be. you make an image of yourself that you love, that other people love, and the power behind that concept is a kind of magic that will shape you.

it's not a hard bridge to cross then, when you think of how many paintings and portraits mio must have sat for. how many statues of his forefathers he walked past every day. he was surrounded by people that deliberately made themselves works of art, so it's easy to see how the trait fell into him too.

it's a little complicated for mio to point out something he likes about himself now, because he doesn't look much like the prince that now exists only in portraits around Raqasr, or in murals, or in statues. static pieces and remnants of the boy he was. he feels irrevocably changed and not in a way he has any control over, so he's a little uncomfortable in his skin and is mostly choosing to ignore that right now.

objectively speaking though if he just looked at himself in a mirror, i think he would like his eyes. they're a gem-like green (so often called malachite for good reason lol) that is very typical of the Basekh family, you can see it in generations going back, and i think Mio likes that connection. it's a part of him that's genuine, and it doesn't hurt that people think they're pretty :) little self-esteem boost thank u

his family... i mean. it's hard to say, they haven't seen him in a while. i like to think that once upon a time, his younger brothers would've said his hugs were the best thing about him - always warm and safe, even when they were being shitheads to him. he protected them without question, until he wasn't there. that's been hard to reconcile.

lovers... loaded question. two i can speak for - i know one would say his words because that was what she valued most, knowing that he couldn't lie to her the way he could lie to everyone else. the second might say his shoulders, in the most point-blank, blunted statement ever, but he means the shoulders of atlas that shored up a world of incorrigible expectation, and he has never forgiven certain people in Mio's life for that. i think Mio is afraid to consider what Diric might say - he found Diric at a point of significant change in his life when he wasn't really sure of who he was, he felt like an amorphous creature that was just kind of fitting his surroundings, playing to the needs of the party, so his demeanour and his behaviour may have been hard to pin down over that time. he likes to think he was fun and gave Diric some light in his life which, in Mio's pov, seemed to be cast in a long shadow.

oh, star gazing!!! the stars over Akhenaton.... especially if you ride out a little bit into the desert bluffs or the tombs outside the city, they're beautiful and endless. and it's nice sometimes to be spared the intense heat of the sun, but still see its light reflected in the moon.

hand holding, for sure. he doesn't mind snuggles but he doesn't generally like being crowded for long, while holding hands affords him the closeness without the problem of someone being up in his space.

early, early mornings, when the dawnlight spills out like a softly breaking wave, the pink-purple glow that preludes the inevitable sunrise... the smell of warmth on the air, encroaching... when the river is still and gentle and the world isn't watching him for a moment. yes.

i think probably vegetables, purely on the basis of prevalence and versatility in dishes. the farms of Akhenaton were bountiful thanks to the river delta and the nutrients stored there, so veggies came up in abundance as opposed to the more seasonal-dependant fruits.

📀 How easy is it to shock your OC? To confuse them? To lie to them, to manipulate them? How are they with feelings of trust? Can your OC be trusted?

i think shock and confusion don't tend to creep up so much in Mio's obvious responses, whether that's because he deliberately doesn't show it or doesn't feel it, kind of hard to say. he's dealt with a lot in his life, he's seen a lot - people are fucking unhinged, especially in royal courts where there's plenty to gain - and he's extremely well versed in liars and manipulators, because he is one. however, the current thread in Faelethris that seems to be unravelling is one that i think Mio is genuinely out of his depth on. the swarm of devils and fiends that appear to be threatening his city is not only a situation he has no control over, it's a situation that is utterly sacrilegious to his devotion. that's shocking to the core. he's scrambling to find purchase on something before he goes diving in, which is where his intent on searching the Shadowfell and finding the Raven Queen is coming from.

trust is a difficult line to walk for Mio. there's few people he trusts implicitly, and he usually always likes to have some measure of control over a situation where his life or reputation might temporarily fall into someone else's hands. and i think in return, he doesn't enjoy being burdened with trust from others - partly because he knows he isn't entirely honest and upfront, and partly because that leaves him vulnerable if he fucks it up. it's something he's slowly unpicking by virtue of being surrounded by a party that he often has to rely on to keep him safe and mostly sane.

trusting Mio is very much at ur own risk because as i've said before he will absolutely drop a bitch for the sake of his gods

he's not a huge fan of the dark or being on the edge of something that is very high up. like purely on a practical level, these things suck, yes he has darkvision, yes he can fly, no it doesn't make a DIFFERENCE IT'S ABOUT THE RANCID VIBES

but there are certainly more insidious things that scare him! the whole experience with Laz's magnificent mansion that got twisted by the fucked up Weave in shadereef - that was terrifying. i think in that instance, what scared him was that he felt like he did when Akhenaton was attacked. the horror of the unknown, the oppressive darkness, the creeping stench of rot and decay. logically he understood the two situations were very, very different, but the feeling that it invoked was horrible. he's still on edge now, and you see that he can be sharp and almost cruel - he's not a malicious person in combat, but the way he killed that erinyes was a pointed statement from a very, very scared man. fear makes him throw up all his defenses, everything that says 'keep away' because it's such a vulnerable emotion and he fucking hates people seeing his vulnerability.

likes:

colours - warm tones, oranges and yellows and golds. white or black contrasts. metallics in gold and bronze and brass. PTHALOGREEN. sometimes turquoise. the yellow-toned blues. he loves loves loves colour, and his armour is devoid of it but his formal attire is drowned in it. Just Something To Muse On,,,,

textures - he is a DECADENT BOY when it comes to fabrics - silk, satin, luxurious materials that slide over the skin. warm sand through the fingers. cool water lapping at his ankles. the wiry hairs of a lion's mane. smooth gemstones. the dense weight of platinum in his hand, versus the softness of gold. he is a tactile person, and textures sit quite strongly in his mind.

music - the combination of heavy drums and powerful voices is something Mio likes, because it's very reminiscent of numerous songs that come out of festivals and celebrations in Akhen. i think more than anything though he just likes to hear singing.

weather - this is the obvious one, but hot, dry days where the sun is blazing and it almost feels too heavy to move. nothing better than lounging around like a glorified housecat in the shade while you sip on fantasy margaritas by a river.

dislikes:

colours - he's not a huge fan of pastel type colours, he doesn't generally like greys and muddy colours, all for the same reason: no vibrancy or life to them. he is like a silly little bug that lands on the brightest and loudest flowers in the garden and nothing else.

textures - coarse things, rough hewn fabrics, heavyweight fabrics are all BLEH. he doesn't like the way linen creases so he has to get it flattened constantly. he's particular about the skin on certain fruits - god forbid anyone leave a little of the rind on the oranges. he also hates rose-cut gemstones because why. also when metal drops onto marble = BAD NOISE, BAD TEXTURE, BAD TIME ALL AROUND. ceramic on marble is okay tho, crunchy and satisfying.

music - overly long piano pieces are a blight upon the upper echelons of operatic society, and he will cry if he has to attend any more recitals.

weather - snow and cold and frost and anything that demands he put on a coat. this includes cold northern rain or maritime fronts. tropical rain is okay, mostly.

Overall the missing members left a layer of pain the whole time but the members who covered for them did amazing, Yuta hitting taeil's high note my baby did so well. man the intro just continues to remind me fucking ingenius the Star Trek introduction was period. Love it. forever. and always. wonder when we will see these scenes play out when we will see that big plant tentacle monster from the intro or when we will see the two hands touch etc

things are flowing so fast rn in burnham's evaluative speech at the start of this episode. even though not much has happened. and no offence but, i do not think shes earned this kind of audience? because theres like. still hardly much to like nor connect with these characters? imo. idk. idk if its just me, maybe it is. but i definitely dont really have much investment in any characters yet. actually, the one character i resonated MOST with was mega-sized space waterbear, no cap. (oh mossie i miss you i hope we can see you again) trek party lol. ok ill say this one thing DISCO has a lot of filming inconsistencies between shots. like, lets say burnham's hands will be up holding her face. but then next shot, her hands are down at her seat. then switch back and her hands are back up. that sort of thing. happens a lot all the time. stamets. happy drunk. lovey dovey. cute. ash and burnham? idk. every time lorca says saru, i just catch myself thinkning "sulu" cute mega-organisms gormagander wow. space whale sounds. amazing. is it prego. … who ANDORIAN?/ IS THAT AN ANDORIAN OML ITS HELMET SO CUTE oh nevermind its scarier. DUDE WTF the end of DISCO. man a time plot huh ok lets see how this goes a remix of stayin' alive runners said left. let me guess. burnham will later predict them coming from behind her. and then be like "huh. why did i already know this" there is something off about the delivery of these lines from so many of the actors lorca's actor feels pretty grounded same as saru which is good. something feels so weird with the line delivery. idk if it sthe actors or if its the way the filming is that just makes it feel less effective acting?? idk i think its cuz theres a lot of organic quality missing in a lot of the actors getting a decent amount of screentime? i dont want to sound rude ofc i just feel something is off yeah. man. a time jumping Mudd. now THAT'S terrifying. Poor stewart. he didnt deserve to get thrown. "went his own way"? u sure you didnt kill him. Mudd's actor is also pretty grounded. the lines roll off well and not awkwardly. Nice Stamets. this is too fast. Muidd gets shot in the back and then Stamets has a comedic line delivery that seriously needed a pause or soemthing, but we switch imediately to ending the scene and returning after what felt like a commercial break or seomthing.

yeah the pacing of the show is just RUSHING so much like WHY. it just eats up so much of any weight this show couldve had in even its smallest things. i know i sound so critical but its built up a lot and its already the 7th episode into the 1st season. Stamets actor feels pretty good too but i think its just awkward screenplay and awkward lines and weirdo af pacing/film style that ruin things. they need to let this show BREATHE more. it s such a shame they didnt. maybe not the best director. also too many zooms. the show feels so experimental, but i dont know if necessarily in a good way. i sound so pickky but bro im saying what im seeing,. ok sorry this just now, stamets talking to burnham when he says hes the one "missing from mudd's timeloop" is actually pretty bad. bad editing super inconsistent between shots and why are there like a billion camera cuts? we dont need THIS many angles to talk about one single conversational exchange no offence. this scene was pretty bad. weird screenplay, weird delivery, bad editing stamets even sounded like there was a shot with his mic off i could hear the environmental reverb why is this happening. with such a beautiful visual and constume budget such as this. also yes. that is A GORN IN LORCA'S OFFICE. oh my god that means maybe the gorn from SNW DO look humanoid fully matured. ugh cant wait to see what that means. mudd is so merciless. man lorca died like a bug so many times. wtf. why is stamets out of focus- WHAT. WHAT IS THAT. THE FUCK WAS THAT im sorry no this wasnt funny cuz it was supposed to be funny in that way im sorry but just now

when stamets tells burnham that "shes never been in love" at the party in the time loop, she says in the WEIRDEST most… sry ngl, badly acted type way, replying "why would you say that to me" that i had to actually PAUSE the episode and rewatch that again to confirm what i saw. just finished the rewatch of this one scene. wtf was that. sorry that was so poor. its soooo awkwarddddd. and flatttt. what is this ADR though. stamet's ADR in this episode is some of the worse. also sorry that lens reflection of that one green party light that hit right onto burnham's face during this exchange, its almost as if i HEARD the cameraman's thoughts going "ah shit this stupid light" as the camera moved downward to get as much of that green spot out of the direct line of her face. okay, Mr. God-Named-Stamets. is that an apron that isnt a one sided dress. dance in the hallway. ok. this wa so fast. this tone feels very not in sync with the course of this plot? where did this dance thing come from. i think im feeling such a dissonance rn when stamets is on screen because he feels like hes NOT stamets. idk its like, i get that charcters/people are hopefully more than 1-dimensional, and that we get to learn about them more as time passes, but like this kind of feels like stamets just wasnt properly developed and we the audience just didnt get enough proper exposure to him to recognise who really is his person? if that makes ANY sense to anyone. ok no offence, this episode probably is the most trash in terms of script. harry mudd, time loop, saving the ship from destruction, but then also stamets is an omniscient constant, while also flat cardboard af awkward love revelations between ash and burnham?? idk. maybe in a different writers' room, this coiuld be made compellingly and cohesively. but right now. this episode is NOT. IT. im sorry so why does it feel like its deterioriating a bit. the show had me in the beginning cuz how freaking DIFFERENT and UPGRADED it looked (gorgeous btw) compared to ALL the series that came before it in Prime-Timeline. but no matter how i fought it, my emersions been finally broken by the consistently questionable factors that keep loudly making themselves known in this show. too frequently bad deliveries from actors weird af editing bad cinematography even my great efforts to ignore it all and benefit of the doubt, it was too much. which is, based on everything ive ever watched ever, a BAD thing. also, oml lorca is so small in this episode - which actually i like. he feels so insignificant in this episode haha, small fry dying every single time. also i hope i see more creative deaths in this show, cuz everytime someone dies is them dissipating in dusty colour. come onnn, we can do better than thattt.

also just fyi, understand that i am NOT advocating for a super "serious/dire" star trek, weve had a bit of that in random episodes thoruhgout the franchise and moveis too - so no, i also absolutely love silly mad crazy trek plots too, but like. DISCO i think is probably handling this in a way that is the worst ever in Star Trek so far, even among its whacky insane moments. I am keeping to the series and going to stick it through all the way to the end of course. but yeah, i was never here to just be some blind non-insightful talking head that just admired this show unconditionally. if you thought so, then you should try again. i will say whats good, but likewise whats bad. and right now, the good things are things that i have already said, but the bad is really kicking up a storm right now. captain mudd. amazing. its so off-balance, this show. some deliveries are great, pacing is great. but then its like so sporadic and everywhere too often etc yes. delivery is REALLY weird and super weak in too many scenes. idk. maybe construction of the show itself is just weak in too many areas. so so strange. with a show that LOOKS genuinely this good. im just so perplexed. the shows construction feels so amateurish i guess? in not a very good way. "nobody beats Mudd, huh." a businessman is correct, lorca. these camera zoomes are really distasteful. like lorca over here making some consistently really solid deliveries, and the stupid camera cuts and zooms and unnecessary movements just cheapen it all. it makes me so angry. this show needed a better writers' room and better directing. and terrible ADR. its liek they use different mics every 2 lines. i can HEAR the discrepancies, even without my audiophile headphones.

im so mad and sad by this. because the threads of the issues i was sensing since episode 1 are now kind of unforgiveable. i can no longer look over them. so im here really speaking about them in this reaction this time. no offence it kind of feels like nothing much happened this whole episode. and im literally 3 minutes away from finishing this episode. im sorry im not impressed with this ending in how mudd was caught. i feel like this show didnt know how to quite handle the crazy nature of Trek. Bad editing yeah. i keep consistently seeing how for example Mudd is talking, and the camera cuts to a different angle shot of the same line delivery that has to get repeated and edited in, but i can physically see Mudd's jaw still moving in speech despite his dialogue halting from the ADR of the other camera shot. THIS ^ stuff KEEPS happening. and it shouldnt. its super BASIC stuff relatively speaking. and there wasnt this much of an obvious degree of this problematic editing in even older series of trek. so strange. 'i hate how it lifted me out of immersion of this show, this list of issues. you know, id LOVE to see ANY scene of conversation withOUT the stupid slow-creep zoom. listen, i KNOW that this is very often used everywhere in media, but it doesnt mean "always'. in this case DISCO does it poorly. ok episode over. i am not convinced over ANYTHING that just happened. its a 44 minute long episode, but it felt brief as fuck. it didnt feel like it had much substance at all - and im NOT talking some kind of "moral message" shit - things do NOT have to have a real message to be good. and this episode was actually not. it felt so criminally underwhelming. like ok, stamets had augmentation that let him resist the time loop.... and? so what. so what about that. nothing significant happened except apparently blossoming love story between Ash and Burnham, which- Ash x Burnham?

(i dont support either one dw.) ok. well. ima continue the trip ofc. but mmmmm stupid peripheral things are really not doing this show justice. i fear that DISCO is a show that couldve been great but just wasnt even good. bad writing, bad directing, bad editing, bad delivery - i am far from being sold than I was in episode 1. i gave the excuse of the first episode feeling so brisk because it was an exposition….. but the show quickly tired out my benefit-of-the-doubt with how i see that ep 1 wasnt so much a mere exposition, but that its kind of ACTUALLY what this show IS. i cant lie. im p nervous for this show. SNW was fucking good, so i just hope that this show improves to SNW's level where all these questionable issues resolve at some point, more or less.

ok Again i’m not sure if this means the one i listened to most this year statistically or just one i rly resonated with the most this year and one of these is a much harder question LOL according to spotify the song i listened to most was fireproof by one direction just bc it’s a song i play in the background a lot while working! it’s got a rly nice rhythm that works for my brain so that’s probably why it’s so high up jskdjsjd but a song that resonated w me most this year. god that’s rly hard. i listened to talk me down by troye sivan pretty constantly on loop for the whole year and if u Had to make me choose a song that like. summed up 2022 for me it would be this. just one of my comfort songs and i come back to it a Lot <3

2. album of the year?

i answered this one earlier but bc i am indecisive i will give two more answers! (for my fav album that came out this year and also one i just really enjoyed) um superache by conan gray came out 3 days after i got broken up with so. yeah it’s imprinted itself into my brain forever! my favs off of it are (as of rn) footnote, memories, and family line/the exit are tied :^) and as for another one i just really listened to a lot this year it would probably be sawayama by rina sawayama because i’m a pop girl to my bones and this album is just chefs kiss ZERO skips !! listened to it a lot through the spring n summer especially !!

6. episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you?

ohhh this is good one ok so i finally watched all of attack of titan this year and my life was changed Forever. i think my favorite episode is actually that three episode arc in season 3 (episodes 16-18) because holy. shit. i could talk about this show for hours on end so i’ll spare you but i think this is probably the episode/series of episodes that stood out the most for me this year it was just so well done and a 10/10 all around and i won’t spoil anything for people who haven’t watched but. iykyk

19. what’s something you’re excited for this year?

i answered this one earlier too but i’ll answer it again! uh i honestly don’t have Too Much planned up front for 2023 but i am going to try and Read More and my winter quarter is (tentatively) looking less crazy than my fall quarter did so i’m excited to try and take a little more time for myself! (maybe) that’s probably a Small Thing but whatever. it’s important to Me :^))

20. what’s something you learned this year?

ohh i could probably go on for a while about this but i’ll just pick one for now! i definitely learned to put myself out there more and that it can be rly rewarding to step out of ur comfort zone !! with fics and stuff of course but there are also so many friends i made this year in the community i never would’ve met if i hadn’t messaged them despite being so scared everyone secretly hated me LOL and also stuff like my job! i almost didn’t apply because i was convinced i wasn’t qualified enough and i literally got hired two days later KSKSJF anyways trying new things even if i second guessed myself was super rewarding this year and i’m not Great at it yet but if i could go back in time and tell past suni to do this earlier i would bc it would’ve made a lot of shit earlier for me tbh .

i need to talk abt this so like. so. so youve got magi ruiz. magi is. like not even a “the ends justify the means” girl shes a “the means justify the means” girl. shes entirely about “if i have the ability to do something then why wouldnt i do it?” (this is about necromancy and also every other bad decision she makes). and you have layna who’s been in this game from the start and she’s going through it a little but she’s still having fun and enjoying her new home and new friends. she’s not too concerned about being good at the game she’s concerned about protecting what’s important to her and loving it with her whole heart

meanwhile. magi NEEDS to prove herself. she needs to be as cool and as amazing as she thinks her moms are. she needs to impress her little sibling so bo will finally look up to her again like back when the two of them were kids. she needs to do something that even her family couldnt do; she needs to do something out of this world. and goddamn magi is head-over-heels for layna from the start. layna’s a cool punk girl standing well over six feet before the platform boots and she’s also a were-hellhound from the giant mouth to hell in the desert and she’s got sunflowers in her fur and magi knew the band was cool but holy shit holy shit holy shit? so when she cracks this ritual from a dead guy’s old notes of course she wants to show off to layna. layna likes max a lot! everyone likes max! magi did that, and she wants to do something like that again, something that wows people and gets everyone to look at them with amazement. they want layna to look at them like that. so maaaaybe a weird magic ritual is a weird first date but maybe she doesn’t need to tell her it’s a date. maybe she’ll just see how cool and smart magi is

so one day magi drags along one alaynabella hollywood for this cool ritual she wants to try and uhhh sort of neglects to leave out what the ritual is in her explanation. layna says sure! because magi is cute and seems pretty smart and they only met recently but she trusts them pretty well. layna grabs her resonator guitar and heads out to the field. and suddenly the wind starts whipping and the sky goes dark and out of the brand new psychoacoustics system (the one that magi installed and maintains), theres this unbelievably loud screaming that just seems to go on and on and layna is getting worried, she shouts for magi but it’s too loud and all she hears is magi urging her to keep going, it’s almost done, it’s almost complete, trust me

and layna trusts her

(and the saddest part is layna already knows how cool and smart magi is. layna already loves her and if magi had just told her how she felt instead of trying this, then layna would have said yes, you never needed any grand rituals to impress me, i love you too)

and then the trust is damaged but the love is still there. it’s always there

Stranger Discussion

For the sound analysis I decided to make a dialogue between three friends and by including one friend who is not familiar with the show we are able to analyze the scene from all points of views.

She:- Shehan (Me)

Chy:- Chaya

Chr:- Chris

She:- And if I only could I'd make a deal with God And I'd get him to swap our places Be running up that road Be running up that hill Chy:- hey that sounds familiar She:- yeah it's running up that hill by Kate Bush. Released in 1985 and featured on the album hounds of love. Chr:- wait. What? She:- I'm kidding guys. It was in stranger things season 4 Chy:- oh that's why it sounds familiar! Chr:- I love that show. Specially the final confrontation. She:- for me it was auditory and visual perfection. Chy:- idk about that. I mean I saw a post on Reddit saying the scene was anempathetic  and overrated. Chr:- bruh. Everyone love that show. She:- yeah exactly! There's even this big theory that number 3 plays a big role in the series. Chy:- anyway I've been wanting to check that scene out myself and see what's all the fuss about. She:- u mean to say u didn't watch the show?? Chr:- I don't know you Chaya. Chy:- well I was preoccupied ok? She:- ok. Ok. How about this? Let's watch the scene ourselves and be the judge of that statement? Chr:- I don't need to watch it. I know it's the best scene Chy:- let's watch it then. *Plays video She:- wow. I could watch it over and over again. Chr:- same here dude. So what did u think about the scene Chaya? Chy:- it's pretty cool. Seems like a climax or something? Not really sure about the plot. She:- well it is the climax and ties together all three subplots Chr:- so apparently this version of the song is called "epic synth arrangement" Chy:- sounds fancy. I definitely heard the synth clearly. Chr:- the song is played 3 times throughout the show and is considered to be the leitmotif of Max. She:- I think that's because the lyrics of the song resonate with Max's internal struggles and well it is her favourite song. Chy:- the scene has three parts right? There's one with eleven and Hopper. Wait I thought he died? And the octopus guy. Chr:- octopus guy? (Laugh) that's vecna the main villian of the story and you called him octopus guy(laugh) She:- that was hilarious Chaya. So yeah these parts are actually the  subplots of the story. Chy:- what I noticed was that insignificant sounds like breathing, sword slashes, gun cocking and flame sizzles seem to have increased volume and timbre. Chr:- yeah those were edited out post production. Like the cackle of the Demogorgon. She:- I think the flame sounds are a bit exaggerated as well. Because fire is the upside down creatures kryptonite. The creature shrieks are definitely post-synchronized sounds. Chy:- there are some overlapping sounds from all three parts. Like non- diegetic sounds. Chr:- like what? She:- well the shouts of course. Like hoppers scream. Chr:- the drums kinda keeps the audience in suspense and even the loop of "building" is a implication to what's gonna happen. When Vecna stands up and Nancy firing her shotgun three times. She:- so there's the dialogue by Lucas saying "max" three times. For this if u notice all sounds and music is removed in order to give clarity for the dialogue. Chy:- Even though an epic song is being played throughout the scene, there's no musical interlude as there are even slight sounds accompanying the music. Chr:- wait, the final shot by Nancy. From the gun close up to her face close up. All you hear is the music right? She:- nice observation. There's also some sync points where the songs slow beginning is sort of parallel to the battles about to begin. Chy:- the thunder and the whirl of the synth also syncs up and the music ends with the octopus guy hitting the ground. Chr & she :- it's Vecna! Chy:- yeah yeah Vecna. She:- so Chaya would you say this music was empathetic and suitable for this scene? Chy:- yeah it is. The soundtrack feels like a battle cry and I definitely want to watch the show now. Chr:- the song is now a global sensation thanks to stranger things. She:- it's amazing how a music in a scene can impact the emotions of that scene.

7. Enough for you

Rating: 8/10

Memorable line/s:

Thoughts:

This didn't made an impression on my first listen but as I listened almost everyday to the album, I grew to like this song.

I'd like to think that this is the sequel for "1 step forward, 3 steps back" where she already broke off of a toxic relationship. The line "Don't tell me you're sorry boy feel sorry for yourself. 'Cause someday I'll be everything to somebody else" really hits hard like, you go girl tell him!

Can't believe she wrote this when she was 16 or 15? Her lyricism is amazing.

8. Happier

Rating: 10/10

Memorable line/s:

"I hope you're happy but don't be happier"

"I'm selfish I know, I can't let you go. So find someone great but don't find no one better"

Thoughts:

This is my favorite song in this album! The first time I heard it, I honestly got teary-eyed because imagine the person you still love moving on and loving someone else, that is just painful.

The song is bitter yes, but somehow relatable, true and honest. This song has been on repeat since last year because I love it so much and because the emotion is conveyed beautifully. This is my top 1 on the album!

9. Jealousy, jealousy

Rating: 9/10

Memorable line/s:

"I'm so sick of myself, I'd rather be, rather be, anyone, anyone else, jealousy, jealousy"

"I wanna be you so bad, I don't even know you"

Thoughts:

THE BRIDGE OF THIS SONG IS AMAZING. I really like the buildup and then the anti drop. It's like the more the song progress, you can feel how she gets more frustrated and jealous and I am living for it! I am jamming to this song with emotions everytime especially on the bridge!

10. Favorite Crime

Rating: 7/10

Memorable line/s:

"I hope I was your favorite crime"

"All those things I did, just so I could call you mine"

Thoughts:

I didn't vibe with this song as much as the other songs but I don't hate it either. It's just neutral for me. This is where the album starts to get mellow and you kinda feel that it is ending (haha).

The message didn't resonate with me so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it that much. The instrumental is good though and also the backing vocals.

11. Hope ur ok

Rating: 7/10

Memorable line/s:

"Address the letters, to the holes in my butterfly wings"

Thoughts:

The last song of the album! The song is a good way to end the album because it sounds like the music played during the end credits of a movie. Tbh tho, this is my least favorite song. It's not bad but it kinda felt out of place amongst the other songs on the album. I think it sounded like a Conan Gray song.

Overall Thoughts:

The album is just so beautiful! I think it is a good debut album for Olivia. Every song has its personality and most songs are actually very memorable and catchy.

I love the composition, instrumentals, vocals, lyrics and most of all,the bridges of the songs! With this album, I think Olivia made her presence known in the music industry.

All the awards she got for this album is well deserved ♡
