Feel like I’m the only vampire chronicles fan who loves the new iwtv series

“Book Louis was white!!!”

He was a slave owner and while Anne Rice contextualizes it real well—she doesn’t try to soften the subject matter, she doesn’t try the “he was nice to his slaves” book Louis is like “yeah I was a slave owner, it was fucked up” —still I feel no attachment to white Louis. It was not the most interesting thing about him.

Anne Rice was weird about any POC in her books. It’s still a white centric narrative, the main cast of vampires is white. Boring. Black Louis is much more interesting. A Black vampire navigating his immortality among a society hostile to his kin is so much more captivating.

Many of the main vampires in her series get a book dedicated to them where they explain their origins, their experience with immortality and their philosophies. Except...the vampires that get their own narrative are white. I would love to see an Ancient Black vampire that was kicking before any racism as it is now was invented. I wanna know their perspective, I wanna see them philosophize.

The second to last book is called Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis--there are bird-reptile aliens pissed off about the asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs and want to eradicate mammals bcuz in every other universe reptiles are the dominant-sentient species.

There is nothing sacred about the original, this is not Beowolf or the Epic of Gilgamesh--this is Anne rice and her self-insert blorbo getting into scrapes. When adapting a piece of fiction the most important thing is preserving the Themes--which the show is doing superbly. What truly matters is that every character in Anne Rice's show is bisexual and polyamorous and a disaster.

But theres two ways the whole school thing can go: they go to whatever school together and probably don't speak to anyone other than each other (kai out of disgust, sickness etc, hari out of "ok that's what kais doing and i dont really have the desire to do anything else so I'll just follow him around [thats actually a pretty succinct chronostasis character analysis in general]"). i imagine kai would struggle with germs and stuff and hari would stand guard casually outside of broom closets and bathroom stalls while he had breakdowns in there (lost kitten by metric moments! listen to it now When you come undone i cover you uuuuppp) and then kai would just come back out not really looking any better and say Okay lets go.

And the other angle is the two of them confined to the hideout, the youngest in the building so having next to no one to ask for help with questions from the textbooks tht were requested to be procured by pops . This one Low Key makes me insane cause it completely recontextualizes them. Like wdym you two literally only had each other through your entire childhood and now you just say shit like "sorry 4 the wait i was trying to keep our trail clear" "thanks" likw HUH HUH

on account of him being insane and full of arasaka brainworms, not much would've been unforgivable to him, other than anyone possibly bringing any sort of harm to his daughter. he Would kill whoever dared to do that, even though it's against arasaka protocol. she is far more important to him than his job would ever be. after he finally gets out of there and becomes a regular functioning man, that would Still be 10000% true, but it also extends to other people who are in his life now, and he's WAY less likely to let shit slide. he will call you out on it bc he actually Cares now <3 well. he would have done before but. he's finally in a place where he can act on it.

everyone in his family has the same nose, and dark brown, almost black eyes [which he eventually changes back to soemtime in the future teehee]. it's a very distinctive nose, and anyone who knows about his family in any capacity, can very easily spot when someone is a vidal. for better or worse. he got is love of cooking from his mother, and his painfully annoying stubbornness from his father. not exactly a shared trait, but more or less something he learned - he would put his life on the line for his siblings no matter what, even when his father told him to only look after himself. he never listened, and is definitely better off for it. he would always choose to help someone in need instead of walking away, every time.

🍪: What is something that's sentimental to you OC?

the van he used to live in for the few years between getting kicked out of his family and joining arasaka, there was only enough room for a small mattress and all his belongings - there werent that many, most of his stuff got passed down to his siblings. his whole life was in that van, but once he joined arasaka, he was forced to sell it, belongings and all, which he was understandably very upset about. just over a decade later, he finds it again, and - a facking miracle - everything in it was left completely untouched. the outside needed to be fixed up quite a bit bc of how rundown and rusty it was, but he didn't care. he loves fixing up cars. he's just happy all his stuff, all the photos of him and his siblings, etc etc. is safe. and he can look back on it all again.

how do you think bylers first kiss will go and do you think itll be in season 4? im thinking theres a good chance they do by the last episode bc this is apparently a byler heavy season and every season thats had a potential relationship brewing up the whole time, they have them kiss at the last episode. happened with mileven and lumax sooo 👀👀👀

i cannot pinpoint an exact episode or time that the byler kiss may occur in, but i can give a bit of an overview on how i think it should go!

firstly, i think that their confession should consist of two “first” kisses: one in vol. 1 of s4, and another in vol. 2.

the first kiss should be near the end of s4, so at that point we’ll have had like 6-8 episodes of apparent tension between the boys. mike is gay panicking, will is realizing that his crush on mike never faded, and the boys collectively are wondering: what the hell happens next?

mike is more impulsive, acting on emotion pretty frequently (shoving troy when he insulted will in s1, running to will’s house in the pouring rain in s3 because he hurt his feelings). will on the other hand has gotten used to repressing his feelings towards mike, and after the byler fight in s3 i’m sure his hopes for mike reciprocating his feelings are in the toilet at this point. so it will definitely be mike who makes the first move.

i’m guessing that he and will would be having a moment similar to the “not possible” scene in s3 or even the “crazy together” scene in s2, and mike just leans forward without thinking and boom. kiss. the two will be equally confused and mike will realize what he just did, but before we know it they’re interrupted by a supernatural occurrence or argyle being like “hey brochachos how about some pizza for dinner?” and then they don’t get to talk about it until vol. 2. this will allow for the critics to analyze the details and for the public to squawk about it for a little while. it will allow mainstream viewers to stop and think about the details behind byler and the proof from other seasons before getting worked up, and then maybe even allow them to enter vol. 2 with an open mindset.

in vol. 2, mike will most likely be withdrawing himself from situations with will because he feels like he grossed will out, so he opts for ignoring the situation. pretending has been his go-to coping mechanism, so he’ll just act like it didn’t happen, hoping for them both to be able to continue their friendship as is.

this’ll upset will, for sure. he just felt like he got a chance with mike but now mike’s acting like everything’s normal when it isn’t, essentially leading will on and toying with his feelings. he’ll confront mike about it at some point and ask him why he kissed him, then mike will confess. it’ll be a lovely little batch of angst. will will initiate the next kiss, sort of confirming to mike that he feels the same.

again, this is all just how i think it should go, but it might be completely different! lastly, i may or may not post a fic that goes along these outlines, so if you’re interested, stay tuned ;)…

why mcyttwt does not think some (if not most) of the time when it comes to mcc

if i post this in twitter, i’d surely get hated upon but someones gotta have to say this one day. also this does not target to mcytblr!!! this rant is more of towards mcyttwt!!!

remember how mcyt was so chill before all of this shit? how we would watch our favorite minecraters when the community was so small? or how mcc was an event that both ccs and fans can have some fun and entertainment once per month? and that was only last year too. now look at the new generation of mcyt fans and see why some of the old fans dont really associate the new ones.

as a fan of the old gen mcytbers like DanTDM, SkyDoesMinecraft, Aphmau and CaptainSparklez. heck im a fan of pewds’ minecraft series before dream or tommy or ranboo or the new gen of mcyt ccs blew up (a year before them if im correct), and we dont see drama or bad shit all the time when it comes to their content.

now compare that to the new gen where every single fucking day, a bored fan or anti would post shit drama in twitter where some of the people from twitter moved to tumblr just to not get a headache from the batshit craziness mcyttwt brought forth. and it just snapped more when the mccp21 rolled in.

heres some of my takes about the mccp21 issue:

1) “there’s a lack of representation of lgbtq+ in the teams!!!”

heres something to tell yall about that. scott doesnt have a fucking choice. scott smajor has told time and time again, WEEKS before the announcement of teams, that there are certain requirements and limitations to mccp21 thus there will be difficulty in choosing whos entering or whos not. limitations and requirements such as it will be streamed on youtube or how streamers with twitch contracts aren’t allowed to stream or (god bless scott’s good heart) scott not allowing some of the lgbtq+ streamers in joining the special event due to wanting them to have a chance to stream and experience their first mcc (so to those who said that ranboo should have been in mccp21, shut up ‘cuz scott wanted genderman to have fun streaming his first mcc but cant due to ranboo being a well-known twitch streamer). to those who complained that ant and velvet should be in the mcc, stop being selfish and do some actual research on why scott didn’t include them. a simple question to those two’s fans would answer that they can’t make it due to them camping for a week which within those days is the mccp21. they’re having time to themselves, not wasting it on a minecraft championship. 

take in the consideration that, oh i dont know, not a lot of lgbtq+ ccs applied to the event? its not a free invite championship (in fact, mcc has always been like that), it’s an applied with the sufficient and correct requirements kind of event. the artist who created the icons from the previous mcc for the teams said that scott let in some of the new ccs in last minutes due to lack of applicants not meeting the requirements thus not having custom artworks for the teams if they want to announce the teams in time.

2.) “there’s no lesbians or trans in the teams >:(((”

sadly enough, there’s not much of the players from the lgbtq+ community but to say there’s no trans people in mccp21 is utterly false. by definition, trans mean  denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex. other genders such as non-binary, genderfluid, androgyne, bigender, gender expansive all fall under trans. you define yourself with the gender you personally chose and comfy with from you birth gender. so saying there’s no trans in the teams when there are players from the event like eret or sqaishey who are nb and genderfluid respectively are there to also represent not only the sexuality but also the gender identity of others??? like c’mon, please make sense mcyttwt. 

also, while its sad to not see lesbians, please know that lgbtq+ doesn’t strictly be defined by lesbians. ffs, lgbtq+ literally means Lesbians Gays Bisexuals Transgenders and Questioning (or Queer but im not too sure about that one) which means that there are still other representatives for the community in the event.

3) “technoblade is in the event?!!! WHAT THE FUCK, HES A HOMOPHOBE/LESBIPHOBE-”

utter clowns, toxic twitter users are. do you really think that scott smajor, an openly gay man, would let a supposed “homophobe/lesbiphobe” in an event that focuses in supporting the lgbtq+ community? do you hear yourself? do you even do research where the joke he made was when he was the same age as me and it was based on a historical article back in WW2? or how he passionately supports the community especially the lesbians because a lesbian couple complimented him to which kickstart his confidence? the man willingly went to this mcc event despite being flamed a lot in twitter because he (and everyone) knows that his chat, his fans and supporters, are literal millionaires. if you saw a stream from foolish where he auctioned canonical characters for funs, a techno fan donated thousand of dollars to get technoblade, and that’s only one fan, now imagine a hundreds of thousands of them.

like it or not, technoblade has always been open about his support to the community, especially that majority of his fanbase are from the same community that mcyttwt allegedly swore that technoblade hates.

4) “since this mccp21 is pointless because theres no dteam, quackity, punz or (insert cc name), let’s have a watch party of the previous mccs to spite mccp21!!!” “let’s hope (insert cc name) stream on the 26th so mccp21 doesnt have the same amount of viewership like before!!!” “where are (insert cc name)??? gosh, this mcc is so boring without them!!!”

ive seen the cool ones who actually took the consideration for scott's side and the criticism of the lack of representation of other communities within the lgbtq+ umbrella (ive even share some parts of it above so im also a bit upset to the lack of numbers in the community). and some of them are correct about recruiting lgbtq+ creators in youtube but! like i said, it's an applied event and not invitational one, so its up to that content creator if they want to join or not. the amount of cishet in the roster are just those who want to support the cause and/or backups/stand-ins in case scott and noxcrew can't find enough ccs in time!

just wanna clear this up because mcyttwt these days are covered by really cringe fans (ive noticed a pattern of them mostly new ones but there are still awesome new fans (like my irl friend who just joined this year) within the community) that covered the good ones where they enjoy, have fun and share some neat ideas and thoughts to the community within the platform!

when i said to get out of the mcyttwt while you still can, i meant to get out of there to avoid drama (that is really small contrast those who really need to address the issue) and take a break from it. it's still your choice if you want to be surround by it or not or if you want to come back to the app. all im saying is to buckle up for the shitstorm cuz this is not the last time that the twitter side of mcyt will cause negativity to the community.
