It’s kinda disappointing how often capitalism invades creative spaces. Like, I’m not ragging on small business owners necessarily. I get it. Make that money in this hellscape.

But I remember when there were livejournal groups like jr_nal and organizers where you could go and show off fun pages from your art/creative journals or your daily planner and such. I still have photos on my hard drive of pages that inspired me! From 2010-2012! Now if you want to join groups like that or watch a YouTube video to get inspo, everything is an ad. Every post is like “here’s this spread I made using This Sticker Set I Was Given By Someone I’m on the PR Team For. Use my code for 10% off in their shop!” At which point it feels like no one’s doing this for fun.

I just want to be able to search for pictures of digital journals for cool inspiration instead of being hit by 1000 thinly veiled ads every time I do.

making a book of my fic(s) and running your fingers across the pages while lovingly whispering my precioussss

doing these things with anything I create for fandom, such as meta, headcanons, au nonsense like 'texts from the brodinsons,' etc

I am not fine with "the audience"

doing any of the above with the purpose/intent of plagiarizing my work or passing it off as their own in any capacity

I am really trying to hold on to the good and positive side of our world but everyday it's getting harder. This morning I had breakfast and didn't open my email and social media until after. First thing I saw and read was about the ungoing wars and dismembered bodies in Gaza. How Russia is planning on invading other countries in the next 3 years. How sexual violence is used as a weapon in war and nothing is done to stop it. And how our climate is still dying. There's death and hate all around and I don't have it in me to pretend otherwise. Imagine waking up every morning and witnessing distruction, rage, dismembered body parts of your neighbours and children crying in the streets. We see it through our screens from our safe and warm homes. We have the choice to look away and close our social media. I need you to understand that for people in war zones this is their everyday reality and they can't run away from it, nowhere is safe for them. I feel like for every 10 people that don't care and can't show basic humanity, I care. I care so deeply it hurts. But this is not about me or you, it is about the people who are trapped and literally fighting with everything they have left to stay alive and trying to make us aware of the horrors they have to face every minute of every day. The least you can do is fight for them and spread their message.
