NUMERICAL NOTES
— positive addition
‧₊ ᵎᵎ 🍒 in 2025 the beginning energy is 1/1/2025 which is an 11 life path day. 11 is one of the highest vibrational numbers aside from 22 and 33, so next year is going to be a great year for spiritual growth and spirituality in general. especially with it being a 9 year (2+0+2+5=9) you will definitely see things like astrology, tarot, numerology, etc becoming even more popular than they’ve been in past years. it’s a great year especially for 4 life paths (as long as they’re not a pig in vietnamese astrology)
‧₊ ᵎᵎ 🍒 people that are 22 life paths can be some of the best workers to hire in my opinion. not only because they have a little 4 energy, but because 22’s have that “i will never give up until i get what i want” type of energy
‧₊ ᵎᵎ 🍒 being around 3 energy can immensely increase your luck, especially if you’ve got 11 energy in your birthday, as they often absorb the energy they’re surrounded by. this doesn’t apply to 4’s though since 4 is 3’s enemy number
‧₊ ᵎᵎ 🍒 women born on the 2nd of the month (example: january 2nd, february 2nd, march 2nd, etc) usually don’t have to work out a lot to keep themselves in good shape. they naturally have beautiful feminine figures that meet the societal standards
‧₊ ᵎᵎ 🍒 if you were born in your enemy month then enemy years won’t be as bad as they are for others. example: if you were born in january and you’re a 9 life path
‧₊ ᵎᵎ 🍒 most numerologists talk about how people with 3/5/11 energy do well in the music industry, but 9’s really take the cake. especially people with 29 energy such as michael jackson. they know how to perform and reach an audience that others aren’t able to
‧₊ ᵎᵎ 🍒 in my brutally honest numerology post i said that 7’s usually aren’t good lovers, but when they’re higher vibrational and date 11’s, it can be one of the most beautiful and strongest soulmate connections
‧₊ ᵎᵎ 🍒 i wanted to make a more positive version since the last one was negative

Icarus and Helios, a Dirk Gently AU 💛
(Sorry for the poor English)
In the 80s, in Romania, a baby was born with wings, making him look like a cherub. Since he was an orphan, he was taken (abducted) by the CIA at the age of 4 to be studied as some very unique phenomenon. Turned out that there was more kids born with strange anomalies this year so they created a secret CIA division called BlackWing (in reference to that first boy dark wings) to study all those “anomalous entities” and potentially use them.
The Romanian kid was called “Project Icarus” and for decades they tried to teach him to fly. But so far he was more prone to fall than to actually fly (hence the name Icarus).
Generally, the anomalous entities were tested separately and never met, to avoid any problems (some of them having dangerous abilities). They were all locked into an underground facility where there was rooms to study, to be tested on, or train their abilities… Some areas being dedicated to some of the most dangerous entities with bigger security and surveillance.
One day around his 30s, Project Icarus heard someone trying to talk through the ventilation of his room. A person was now occupying the fire proof room which was opposite of his.
That new occupant, “project Helios”, had recently arrived in that area of the BlackWing’s facility bc his ability of creating and manipulating fire was becoming too hard to control and the division just locked him in the best fire proof room they had..
The two men started to communicate regularly through the vent line connecting their rooms and slowly built a strong relationship (they were each other’s first friend).
Ofc they were closely observed the whole time by BlackWing, which decided to have them meet in person. The only condition being that Project Icarus had to fly if he wanted to see his friend more often.
They soon realised that Project Helios could control himself better when in the presence of his friend and radiated intense warmth which was actually helping Project Icarus to hover in the air long enough to manage to fly.
So they decided to keep the duo together, their compatibility being undeniable.
After a few months of training them together, they finally let them out of the BlackWing facility to work for the CIA. So they could help the BW division find and catch other anomalous entities that were starting to be more numerous and out of control.
They gave them new names, Project Icarus became Dirk Gently (he insisted for the last name) and Project Helios became Todd Brotzman…

[ Trollhunter Guardian (Y/n) ]
Centuries ago
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(interpret this however you want (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.))
A few notes of you living with Angor Rot:
TW: slight suggestive
You first didn't stay directly in his living space, being given a small spot on your own when you were allowed to live with the trolls.
But you often go over to his place and one sleepover after late night talk leads to numerous visits that often have some belongings of yours in his place.
The other trolls talked amongst them of how close you and Angor Rot were.
You helped them a lot with your magic and pretty much got along with most of the residents so they had no problem with you.
So when everyone finally found out about your relationship with Angor Rot, they were mostly baffled by the idea of their warrior being in a relationship.
Angor Rot didn't always stay in his quarter, often going around to patrol and help any trolls in need.
But ever since you came, he found himself coming 'home' more than often.
His living space now had some soft texture objects like mattress and curtains because of your influence
It also smells like herbs and you. He liked that a lot more than he thought he would.
So. Did the two of you ever sleep together?
More than laying on each other's side?
Yeah, but that stage took around a year and a half after you two were official.
It had been in your mind for sometime, mostly in a curiosity of how compatible your bodies might work despite the differences
Then it just happened one early morning.
You and Angor Rot came back from some hunting together, drenching from the sudden heavy pouring rain.
Clothes sticking to your skin, you had trouble getting off your gears and he offered to help.
Close proximity contact + shown body curves + had been thinking about it.
And that happened.
There was a lot of discovery happening.

Thank you for all the amazing writing you’ve been posting! This prompt can be sfw or nsfw
Married on the battlefield. What better spoil of war for Magnus to claim than the highest ranked soldier of the clave on the battlefield. The Especially since commander Lightwood makes such a pretty bride
i'm glad you're enjoying and thank you for the ask!! I cackled gleefully when I got it.
sooooo I have a few battle-marriage fic's already and decided to try something slightly different with this one. specifically it's also one of @queensaryn's plots that they handed over to me with some inspiration. the title is also from them ^_^ which is great because I sometimes agonize over titles and sometimes I'm just 'this makes me happy so that's what its called'.
Saeth has a lot of reasons they can't write right now but is very happy to share with me from his little treasure trove of fic ideas and i hope you enjoy this. you can always send me another ask if sentinel/guide isn't your thing tho!

They should have called a retreat the moment the High Warlock took the field. But Alec’s parents refused, too intent on keeping this stretch of land, unwilling to let any more of the leylines fall into downworlder hands.
The territory controlled by shadowhunters in New York gets smaller every year, the downworlders encroaching bit by bit, leaving them with less areas to safely patrol — and less power that the Clave can control.
The Uprising had done exactly what Valentine wanted and upset the balance of the Downworld.
Just not in the way he’d intended.
When the treaty fell apart, the shadowworld had turned to chaos, downworlders no longer sitting idly by, no longer bound by a treaty where they had to let the Clave dictate what they could and couldn’t do. No, they’d risen higher than Valentine had ever managed they could and decisively ended the Clave’s stranglehold of power on the shadowworld.
And the shadowhunters — having grown from birth full of their own power and proud of it — none of them were prepared for the changes.  Still struggling in a society and culture split in two by a civil war while the world changed around them, a catalyst born from the Uprisng.
For once, it is the shadowhunters who suffer from their own hubris.
So here Alec fights, on the battlefield that he knows holds no hope.
Alec knows that the High Warlock of Brooklyn has a special hatred for his parents, and every shadowhunter in New York has been paying for it. Their blood flows thick through the streets, their bodies clogging the sewers with angelic rot, unable to return to Idris let alone Raziel.
Alec grits his teeth as he fires another arrow. It sinks into the open maw of a werewolf and the corpse drops halfway through its leap through the air. Izzy shoves her hair out of her eyes as she nods thanks to him. Her braid is half undone. It looks like someone yanked on it or cut through it.
It’s shorter than it was when they both stepped onto the field.
He’s lost count of how many times he’s stopped his sister from getting overwhelmed by downworlders as she fights on the frontlines.
He wants to sound the retreat, but no one will listen to him over his parents. Alec might be a Sentinel, might be one of the most highly ranked warriors among his people but that means nothing in the chain of command. Not when he’s remained unbonded despite the numerous guides shoved at him, not a hint of a compatibility between him and any Guide he’s met.
So while he might not be outright ignored if he speaks, no one will follow his orders. After all, Alec isn’t an authorized Clave leader, blessed by Raziel with a proper bond and tied to his partner and the Clave with inescapable oaths.
No, he’s an unbonded Sentinel and useless for all but battle.
Here and now, Alec fights despite the hopelessness of it all.  The despair that constantly threatens to sink him into the mire alongside the bodies of enemy and ally alike.
There is no other choice than to fight and to kill.
Until a pressure tears the field apart and as bodies drop around him Alec looks for the cause but as his sight connects with gold he finds that nothing else matters.
Except for the gold.
Consuming him.
Magnus can feel him.
Has felt him lingering on his senses, on the knife edge of the battle-awareness that fills Magnus’ veins with bloodlust.
It's a soul-deep lament, one that Magnus has rarely felt this strongly and never so sadly.
It’s not perfect, but it’s moldable.
A song begging to be taken and shaped into a smooth and lasting symphony rather than remaining untethered and adrift with chords that ring hollow and discordant.
It’s perfect in its imperfection.
“Take over for me.” Magnus doesn’t even look at Valois, ignoring everyone else as he focuses on the direction it’s coming from. “You will need to shield the reserves and be ready to protect those who fall.”
Valois says something, but Magnus doesn’t bother to listen knowing that his orders will be obeyed.
It calls to him, a siren song.
Tempts him and pulls him closer and he watches and waits for a moment longer before he makes his move.
Pulling his shields down is a simple thing.
What is not simple is the way every single being on the field drops like flies, alive but overwhelmed with the might of Magnus’ stretching out his mind and power.
Except for one being.
One man who stays not upright, but neither is he sprawled unconscious in the mud.
Instead he kneels in the battlefield, swaying slightly while enemies and allies lie littered around him.
Over eight centuries Magnus has gone without a Sentinel.
His powers woken as a young child defending himself from a man not his father by blood or deed.
Since then Magnus hasn’t met a single unbonded Sentinel who hasn’t been willing to beg him for a bond. Some called to him in turn, yet none had the disposition he required to seal his soul to another.
This one though, this one has no need to bribe, cajole or threaten.
Magnus can simply claim him for his own.
A bond between Guide and Sentinel does not need to be deep.  While rare, warlocks have been known to have both a consort and a pair bond before. But Magnus has always wanted a bond that would remake his Sentinel down to their soul.
And now, here in the midst of a war he’s found a soul that is willing to be branded with Magnus’ mark and power
As he gets closer it’s easier to see exactly why — even conscious — his Sentinel makes no move.  His eyes are large and focused only on Magnus, a sheen to his gaze that means one thing for a Sentinel and Magnus chuckles as he finally steps close enough to touch
“Did you zone out on my eyes, pretty boy?” Magnus murmurs to his Sentinel, his boy still kneeling in blood and muck and ichor and unresponsive except for a pleased rumble the moment Magnus’ fingers stroke up the bare skin of his neck and jaw. “Aren’t you delightful?”
Magnus tilts his Sentinel’s head up and leans down, coaxing a bloodstained mouth open and licking into his Sentinel’s mouth.
Sight. Scent. Hearing. Touch.
And now taste.
A full imprint, and despite how simple of a ritual it is, the bond snaps fully into place with a ravenous greed that only proves how desperate both of them were for the hollow, gnawing ache inside them to end.
Their souls meld together and Magnus chuckles, throwing his head back in a riotous laugh.
Because the Clave has lost now that he’s bonded.
Once again their own hubris has failed for no Sentinel will stand against their Guide, even one who is a nephilim.
And Magnus already knows that from this moment on, he will never need to restrain his own powers again.
-
AN:
in fanon it's typically the sentinels who are 'in charge' of the bond and that's not going to work for Magnus. especially with his position of power and personal trauma. he needs and wants a sentinel that will kneel for him and submit to him. not one that's going to be overprotective and try to boss him around 'knowing best for his own safety'. even the compatible sentinels who are not like that aren't willing to be claimed as deep as he wants or submit as far as he needs.
Alec's soul over here waving a flag and basically begging Magnus to reshape it as he wants as long as he never lets go.
Alec: this is hopeless. I am hopeless. life is hopeless. everything is... gold. everything is golden and bright and beautiful and i've never felt so at peace or devastated in my life
Magnus touching him.
Alec: I am no longer devastated just overwhelmed

BRUTALLY HONEST NUMEROLOGY
Tumblr media
⬫ lower vibrational vs high vibrational
⬫ note: most of the negative things you’re reading are only applicable to lower vibrational people (people who are consistently at a lower vibration due to their actions). these things of course will not apply to everyone as all your numerical energies play an importance in you and your life experiences do as well
⬫ tw: porn (18+ only), divorce, abandonment
Tumblr media Tumblr media
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ the real compatibility of astrology signs lies in the numerology. everyone goes by elements, but i’m sure anyone who has met people and examined enough dynamics between signs can tell that it’s just not accurate with the “fire is compatible with air and earth is compatible with water” bs. the two most compatible signs based on numerology that are soulmates are capricorn and sagittarius’. sag season starts 1122 and capricorn season starts 1221. this is one of the many reasons why. it may be confusing for numerology newbies, but i can explain it in depth in another post eventually
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ i don’t think 7’s are good lovers unless they’re 16’s usually. i’m sorry, like i said these are honest.. it’s the same way i feel about strong aquarius energy in an astrology chart. they just don’t know how to put others first, be thoughtful, or be in a relationship in general. usually the men, sorry. they have a tendency to fall weak to any sexual behavior they’re surrounded by. i’ve witnessed many of my friends (even 11’s who are quite compatible with 7’s) get heartbroken by these 7 men because the second a pick me girl tries to get with them while they’re in a relationship, they don’t even try to have self discipline and be loyal. they’re just pervs usually or narcissistic and will find a way to always make you feel as though everything is your fault even though they’re the ones that don’t put effort into relationships. they tend to be better independent. 7 is known as the number of “the loner” for a reason. i don’t think they’re all literal “loners”, but they operate better alone than with others
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ i have never had good experiences with people that have prominent 19 energy (one of the unreduced 1’s). it could just be that most people with it have lots of negative past life karma, so it’s indicative they have not been a good person in recent past lives. i also believe it has to do with the home environment they often grow up in though. many people that i’ve met with this energy have unbalanced emotional energy simply because they grew up in a chaotic household and now they don’t know how to control their anger or other emotions. 1’s in general sometimes don’t know how to. however, i don’t think any number can directly cause someone to be a bad person, that’s ridiculous. just like with astrology, it does not make you do anything. i’m sure there is people with 19 energy that are good people out there, i just have not yet met any unfortunately. i’ve also noticed they have big ego’s.. like jojo siwa born on the 19th for example. she comes off very cocky and tries to act like it’s just sexy confidence like other women, but it really comes off like a cocky white man instead, which also makes sense with 1 being the number of masculinity and 9 being the number of the ego. to be fair it’s an intense number to have, but these people can be egotistical and just mean as hell sometimes. i will add something good to this since this was a very harsh take. these people can have things come back to them super duper fast, so if they put their energy toward positive things then they can attract better into their life then they’ve gotten in the past
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ i have yet to meet someone with 25 energy who isn’t a hoe or hasn’t been a huge one at some point. as we know, 2 doubles the energy of the number it’s next to and 5 is the number of sex. this creates lots of sexual energy in people with this number. they tend to also run the porn industry and only fans industry. an example is lana rhoades who was the number one porn star in the world for a while. she was born in 1996 which adds to 25 (1+9+9+6=25). also i do not want to see 13 year olds commenting “i’m not a hoe”. i would hope not, you’re a child..
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ almost everyone with 14 energy in their birthday has had a person in their family abandon them as 14 is related to abandonment. often people with this energy always have divorced parents as well or had a parent leave them when they were really young unfortunately. a good thing about this number though is it can create a very self disciplined energy in someone and cause them to not need others to thrive in the way other numbers do
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ people with 9 energy (especially 27) will accuse you of doing the shitty things that they’re doing when they’re lower vibrational and gaslight you. i would say this number is one of the worst gaslighters. my friends and i have had such bad experiences with the lower vibrational people with it that we literally refer to it as “the number of gaslighting”. they also will never let go of things. even if you got into one tiny fight they will hold things against you forever and don’t know how to forgive and move on. however, i also have met people with 27 energy that aren’t immature in this way and are very intelligent
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ people with 3 energy are the absolutely worst secret keepers. do not tell them your secrets. it’s the number of communication and gossip. as much as some of them hate to admit it they love drama. they’re fun to hang out with though and often the life of the party

"About some dreams that faded!!"
From the peak of strength to the depths of despair. I once built bodies, now I'm lost, hungry, homeless and searching for a handful of safety… but my spirit still fights. !!
My name is Shahad Dahlan, I am thirty years old, married to the kindest and most beautiful person in the world, my love “Hassan”, and on the twenty-third of next November we will have spent the most beautiful ten years together, full of love, loyalty and sacrifice. I will say that we “used to” live in our small house in a small village called Al-Qarara. This area is located between the city of Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah, in the middle opposite what is known as the cursed Kissufim checkpoint. But now we are trying to stand firm between its destroyed walls and the surrounding rubble, but it’s okay, we are still alive and there is still hope.
My husband and I had a beautiful love story. We loved each other sincerely, and that always gave me a sense of comfort and security. Finding the right partner for your life is a rare and precious thing. We’re close in age he’s 34, and I’m only a few years younger.
We don’t have children yet, but there’s a story I find strange that happened precisely around this time last year. I shared it with one of the previous updates alone, as it deserves its own story.
Despite our differences in some hobbies, we were very compatible. Even those around us said we looked alike! Haha.
I’m a naturally moody and energetic person, and I love life in all its details. What captivated me most was the morning; I loved it in all seasons. I loved waking up to the sound of birdsong and contemplating the sky when it was blue, dotted with piles of white clouds that looked like pieces of cotton. It made me feel like my day would be full of energy, full of the beautiful things I love, and full of life.
I had a great time, reading, singing sometimes, and playing my simple guitar, which I’d learned to play on YouTube. I wasn’t a professional, but I enjoyed it when I was bored. I also always listened to music, and I loved it loud and clear! I loved pop music, and I had a complete sound system in every corner of the living room. Music, for me, wasn’t just a hobby; it was essential, as if it ran through my blood! Like something administered intravenously! Hahaha.
I spent most of my day alone, which wasn’t a bad thing at all; I saw it as a valuable time to myself. My husband worked in interior design and decoration, which he had always been creative at. I don’t deny his amazing talent.
He would go out every day from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
As for me, six years earlier, I had finished my university studies in physical education and sports. My plan that kept coming to mind after university was to go to Egypt and pursue postgraduate studies, perhaps even a PhD in physical education. You never know, maybe I would have achieved something big in the future.
After completing university, as you know, employment opportunities in Gaza are extremely scarce, but I didn’t sit idly by.
I participated in numerous courses in my field, such as gymnastics and karate. I hated only one thing: swimming, to the point that I failed the swimming subject twice. I would pass the theoretical part and fail the practical part, Lol.
I joined various teams: baseball and volleyball. A group of my classmates and I were nominated to the Sports Academy and the Palestinian Volleyball Federation to referee volleyball after participating in specialized refereeing courses. We participated in events and matches held at the schools and universitys levels.
I worked part-time in several clubs and gyms, and I was also employed on a monthly contract within UNRWA programs at children’s summer camps. I also received numerous certificates, awards, medals, and shields.
You may be surprised when I tell you that I worked in a field completely different from my specialty “three years before the war.” I was hired to write content, edit, and publish. Yes, although this wasn’t my specialty, I enrolled in several writing and freelance courses and passed the job test and interview. I knew I had a talent for writing content and expressing myself.
When I received the email informing me that I had been accepted for the job, I felt as if I owned the whole world! It was a precious and unforgettable moment. I worked in this field for more than two years, rotating between writing scientific content, international news, and sports, in addition to editing. I then obtained proofreading and publishing licenses. I felt as if I was advancing step by step, as if I was being promoted!
Although my work was partly in the office, I completed it from home, sitting for hours in front of my personal computer. I never felt bored. I would put on my headphones, turn up the music, and start writing. For me, there is no accomplishment without music. That’s who I am.
This was my favorite job, and the last one I had before the war. I will never forget the office where I worked, or rather belonged to. It was called “palteam.” I had a wonderful time there, learned a lot, and enjoyed the company of my colleagues. It was an enriching job in every sense of the word, in addition to providing me with a good income.
But the war came and changed everything. That world became a thing of the past, perhaps even impossible.
I don’t know, my friend…
Yes, I had many hobbies that I wished to pursue freely, and dreams that I was waiting for to come true, or at least to be fulfilled. But Gaza wasn’t the most suitable place for them. I don’t know if it was the occupation that tries to rob us of even the air we breathe, or the restrictions imposed by customs, traditions, and religion.
I won’t hide the truth: I don’t abide by these restrictions much, especially when it comes to my life and hobbies. I’ve always given myself the right to live as I please, to experience life as I see it, especially since I’m still in the prime of my youth.
I love skating. I learned it from a young age. My mother made sure to provide me and my brother, who is a year younger than me, with skates. It’s been our favorite sport since we were little. I usually love all kinds of sports, anything that involves movement and excitement. Even my mind is full of thoughts. That’s why I think I might suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in some way! I love cycling and have participated in many races here in Gaza. They used to organize an annual youth marathon, along with many other events recently, all held on Rashid Street in the port area.
There were a large number of young men and women participating together… We had begun to live, breathe, and dream.
But it seems the occupier doesn’t even want us to breathe. !! 💔

Farewell's Journal
1st Entry - Revolutionshipping: a bond beyond time.
Few relationships in Yu-Gi-Oh! carry as much unspoken depth as that between Atem and Anzu.
From the earliest chapters of the manga, Kazuki Takahashi wove a connection between them that was complex, layered, and undeniably magnetic.
Though it never materialized into romance, the chemistry was always there—lingering in stolen glances, quiet moments, and the weight of unspoken words.
Tumblr media
Why is Revolutionshipping so special
The dynamic between Atem and Anzu is one of contrasts and complements.
Atem carries the weight of his past and destiny, while Anzu embodies dreams, the future, and the pursuit of something beyond the known. She is drawn to his strength, wisdom, and mystery, while he finds in her a grounding presence—someone who sees him as more than just a ruler or a spirit bound to a puzzle.
Their bond isn’t built on shared childhood memories like Anzu and Yugi’s, but on something more immediate and instinctual—an unspoken understanding that, in another life, in another time, could have been something more.
There’s an undeniable chemistry in their interactions.
Unlike Yugi, Anzu instinctively responds to Atem’s confidence and presence. She challenges him in ways others don’t, and he respects her not just out of gratitude but as an equal. She doesn’t idolize him, nor does she depend on him for protection—she simply sees him for who he is, both as a king and as a person.
In turn, Atem brings out a different side of her. With him, she is both challenged and inspired.
They don’t just complement each other’s strengths; they uplift each other in moments of doubt, creating a bond that is as grounding as it is inspiring.
Their personalities complement each other naturally.
Anzu is ambitious, determined, and unafraid to challenge authority—qualities that align with Atem’s own strength and leadership.
Unlike Yugi, who is more hesitant, Atem meets her at her level, creating a connection built on mutual respect and attraction.
At the same time, they balance each other’s weaknesses.
Atem, despite his confidence, carries the burden of duty and isolation, struggling to express vulnerability.
Anzu encourages him to see beyond obligation and embrace the idea of personal happiness.
Conversely, she sometimes doubts her own path, torn between dreams and reality, and Atem, with his unwavering resolve, reminds her to believe in herself and move forward without fear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What Anzu and Atem share that Yugi does not
One of the most overlooked yet telling revo moments in the manga is chapter 41.
Anzu and Yugi make a love test with their lovely two, but it doesn’t beep.
When Atem takes over however, the Tamagotchi reacts.
While this may seem like a small detail, it almost feels as if Kazuki Takahashi himself is subtly suggesting their compatibility—after all, why include such a moment if not to highlight a contrast?
Evidence of this can be seen as early as Season 0, where several moments between them were removed, a trend that continued into the 2000s anime adaptation.
This isn’t the only time we see this dynamic.
In the early chapters of the manga, when Takahashi had more creative freedom, there are numerous moments that highlight Anzu and Atem’s unique connection.
As the series progresses, Atem becomes more distant, but this shift seems less like a natural evolution of his character and more like an editorial decision to reinforce his contrast with Yugi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why it can’t happen
Atem does not belong in Anzu’s world, just as she does not belong in his.
His very existence is tied to the past, to a destiny that was set in motion thousands of years ago.
No matter how much either of them may wish otherwise, Atem’s journey was always leading him toward one inevitable conclusion—returning to the afterlife.
Tumblr media
This is why their relationship remains forever in the realm of “what if.”
Unlike other potential romances, this one is never given a real chance, not because of lack of feelings, but because it was never meant to be realized.
The story itself does not allow it.
Anzu’s development: from attraction to love
Anzu’s feelings for Atem evolve gradually throughout the series. Initially, she sees him as a mysterious, confident version of Yugi—an aspect of him that had always been hidden. In the early manga and anime, she expresses fascination with this other Yugi, believing him to be just another side of Yugi himself. At this stage, her emotions remain tied to Yugi as a whole, rather than recognizing Atem as his own person.
This idea is reinforced in chapter 80 of the manga, where she states that it doesn’t matter which of the two she is with—because to her, they are both Yugi. However, this moment also marks a turning point. As the story progresses, she begins to understand the truth: Atem is not Yugi. He is someone else entirely, with his own thoughts, struggles, and destiny.
Atem is the one who challenges her, who meets her intensity, who resonates with her in a way Yugi never quite does. Even if she never says it out loud, her heart had already chosen.
This realization shifts her feelings from an innocent crush to something deeper—marked by admiration, longing, and an undeniable chemistry.
Though she deeply cares for Yugi, their bond is built on friendship and familiarity rather than passion and attraction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Atem’s development: from loneliness to the Duat
Atem’s journey isn’t just about regaining his memories—it’s about finding his place in the world and, ultimately, accepting his fate.
And Anzu plays a pivotal role in this.
She is the one who, perhaps more than anyone else, encourages him to follow his heart, even when it means facing the painful truth: his destiny lies beyond this world.
Despite loving him, despite knowing what it will cost her, she chooses to support him. That selflessness is exactly what gives Atem the strength to walk forward.
Through Anzu, Atem learns not just who he was, but who he is.
But beyond the emotional support, Anzu also plays a crucial role in uncovering his past.
Without her, Atem wouldn’t have remembered his true name—one of the most vital keys to his journey.
It is through her that he bridges the gap between his forgotten past and his present self.
The cartouche she gifts him, the name she helps him reclaim… these aren’t just symbolic gestures. They are tangible, irreplaceable moments that lead him to his ultimate resolution.
And when the moment comes for him to step into the Duat, Atem is already resolute in his choice.
The unwavering belief she has always shown in him, the way she has pushed him forward throughout his journey, is part of what gave him the strength to make that decision in the first place.
Even if she can no longer influence his path, her presence in his life has already shaped the person he has become.
Tumblr media
And this is where Anzu plays a unique role.
While Yugi cares for Atem, he never truly pushes him to focus on himself.
Instead, he leaves that task to Anzu.
She is the one who doesn’t just stand by his side in battle, but actively seeks out his well-being, making sure that, for once, someone is looking after him.
In this way, Anzu gives Atem something no one else does—the space to be vulnerable, to be human, and to be loved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Atem’s resolve: holding back.
Despite whatever feelings he may have, Atem is fully aware of his fate.
He is not meant to stay in the present, and he refuses to take anything away from Yugi—including the possibility of a relationship with Anzu. He values Yugi too much to ever interfere with his happiness.
This is another reason why Atem never openly acknowledges any feelings he may have for Anzu.
He knows that if he allows himself to get too close, it will only make leaving harder—not just for him, but for her as well.
His concern for her safety goes beyond that of a simple friend—he takes responsibility for her well-being in a way that is deeply personal.
Despite his restraint, Atem is undeniably protective of Anzu.
Time and time again, he is the first to step in when she is in danger, whether it’s during Duelist Kingdom, Battle City, or even small moments in between.
Her silence speaks volumes. It shows her loyalty to Yugi, her unwillingness to be selfish at his expense.
There’s also another subtle but important detail—Anzu never directly tells Atem about her feelings for him.
This isn’t because she’s uncertain, but rather because she prioritizes Yugi’s feelings over her own.
She knows that if she were to openly confess to Atem, it could deeply hurt Yugi, who has always been there for her. This hesitation isn’t about doubt; it’s about kindness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Why Yugi supports them
One of the most fascinating aspects of this dynamic is Yugi’s own role in it.
Despite his own feelings for Anzu, he actively encourages her to spend time with Atem, believing that it will help the Pharaoh feel more connected to their world.
And he’s right—Atem does open up more when he’s with Anzu, becoming not just a king or a protector, but a person.
Yugi’s actions can be interpreted in multiple ways.
On one hand, he may simply believe he doesn’t have a chance with Anzu and steps aside out of selflessness.
On the other, Yugi is deeply empathetic—he understands people better than they understand themselves. Perhaps he sees something in Atem that isn’t explicitly stated: a growing attachment, an unspoken longing. It’s possible that Yugi recognizes Atem’s feelings before even Atem himself does, and rather than stand in the way, he allows things to unfold naturally.
Unlike Yugi, Atem is restrained—both by his nature and by his role. People often forget that he is a Pharaoh, a figure bound by duty, where personal attachments have no place.
What makes this even more compelling is that, while Atem and Yugi are opposites in many ways, they are ultimately two sides of the same person. This likely extends to their emotions as well.
If Yugi harbors feelings for Anzu, it’s not unthinkable that Atem does too, even if he is less outwardly expressive about them.
Atem embodies the full weight of that responsibility, to the point where his entire existence is dedicated to protecting others, often at his own expense.
Tumblr media
Why Revolutionshipping makes more sense
In the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom, many fans explore different pairings and relationships between characters. Some of these relationships are clearly romantic, like Yugi’s feelings for Anzu or Jounouchi’s affection for Mai. Even Kaiba’s attachment to the Blue-Eyes White Dragon has romantic undertones, given his past life connection with Kisara. However, when it comes to Atem, there is no definitive indication in the series that he shares romantic feelings for anyone.
Atem’s connection with Yugi is unique and deeply emotional, but it is more akin to that of brothers or two souls bound by a shared destiny. Their bond transcends friendship, but it is not romantic. The connection between them is based on mutual respect and the understanding that they are two halves of the same soul. Their relationship is rooted in a deep, almost spiritual link, rather than any romantic tension.
When we consider Atem’s historical context, things become clearer. Atem is not only the spirit of a pharaoh, but also the reincarnation of Tutankhamun, who was married to Ankhesenamun.
As a ruler in ancient Egypt, Atem’s life and role would have been defined by the expectations of his time—marriage and the need for heirs. This historical perspective further supports the idea that Atem’s connection is naturally inclined toward a romantic bond with a woman.
Tumblr media
Given this, it makes more sense for Atem’s romantic potential to lie with someone like Anzu. While Atem never explicitly expresses his feelings in the series, their growing bond over time suggests a connection that could develop into something deeper.
Anzu, with her unwavering support, helps Atem confront his past and come to terms with his destiny, making their relationship one that holds the potential for love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A love that could never be
Revolutionshipping is a story of love that was never meant to happen. Not because there was no connection, but because fate simply did not allow it.
Atem’s duty was always to return to the past, and Anzu’s future was already planned in the present.
Tumblr media
But perhaps that’s what makes their bond so powerful.
It is a love that exists between two people from different worlds—one that could have been, if only time had allowed it.
And sometimes, the most unforgettable love stories are the ones that never truly had a chance.

some random astro observations
according to my observations, people who are most often approached to date on the street tend to have Gemini Venus.
the connection between Scorpio Moon/Venus individuals and dark, gloomy art is fascinating. I've seen numerous mentions that they may be particularly drawn to true crime stories. however, I would like to emphasize that this desire for intense emotions can lead them to discover thriller titles without any initial intention. it can be like: "oh, it just seemed interesting, so I started reading, and then found out there were a lot of hardcore trash in the plot."
the same placements can be perceived so differently depending on the status of a certain person in your life. my ex-boyfriend and my bestie share 85% identical positions. the issue is that these placements appeared to be so damn cool for my friend and so damn bad for my boyfriend. the main essential difference is his Gemini Moon and her Pisces Moon. and it's so fun that I'm ready to forgive HER for all the things HE used to annoy me terribly. I guess, the reason is the better match with my Taurus Moon and better understanding of emotions of each other.
it's crazy that almost every girl who has experienced falling in love or dating a Virgo boy has told me that it was one of the most beautiful, significant and traumatic experience at the same time. (I can agree, I'm also part of this team...)
have you ever experienced this too? you know that you have an excellent compatibility with some sign, but you say with conviction: "never in my life, I don't like them at all." and then suddenly have a crazy crush on someone with this sign? it's me and Scorpio sign...
I can't say for sure, but I believe this is due to the fact that my Venus, which is responsible for aesthetics, is in an aspect with my Capricorn Lilith. as we know, Capricorn is responsible for teeth... I am a complete teeth freak. teeth, occlusion - these are the first things I notice when evaluating someone's attractiveness. it doesn't have to be perfect, a person can even have problems with their teeth, but if I like it... it's 70% of success. there were so many times when my friend showed me photos of REALLY beautiful people (and I rationally understood it), but my response was something like: "yeah, but for me, there's something wrong with their teeth. I can hardly figure out what exactly is wrong. I just don't like the way they smile." That's it. Thank you for reading! Picture credits: Pinterest

Why do u think so many people in like 'neurodivergent' spaces seem to simultaneously hold the belief that certain developmental disabilities or 'mental illnesses' arent 'an excuse' to be unable to do certain tasks, act certain ways, or to 'work on urself' or 'be better', in a way that completely ignores people with higher support needs that genuinely cannot do these things, just a complete lack of understanding that some people are not ever going to be able to 'mask' and that no, its not a 'privilege' to be very visibly, obviously considered developmentally defective from a young age..........but also practically worship psychiatry and pathologize every single iota of their behavior, labelling themselves with things like 'demand avoidance' without understanding the context behind these words or who gets nonconsensually labelled with these things, and what it is used to justify doing. I dont know how some people can be so ignorant of the material reality faced by people who get shoved into the 'low functioning' or 'severely mentally ill' boxes (how many autism influencer types have u ever seen bring up sheltered workshops?), but its a massive barrier to interacting in ND spaces for me and a lot of people i know. i dont understand how people who talk about how ADHD brains react differently to meds than 'neurotypical brains' can not understand that like, for example, i cant eat a certain food, i can eat rotten food and food i dislike but not that food, no matter if im starving, I was restrained and force fed that food in special ed and then force fed my own vomit when i inevitably threw up, I would have eaten the food if i could to make that stop! Why is this contradiction so prevalent!!! Anyway love the blog im also having an #ediblenight
well a few things. one is simple moral hypocrisy (accommodations for me, not for thee)
another is that i think many people actually do perceive the philosophical nonsensicality of psychiatric diagnosis (the recursive circle whereby you are dx'd with x because you do y, which is caused by x, which you know because the definition of x is that someone does y, which was based on clinical observation of people doing y and doctors determining that was harmful and therefore indicative of a medical problem, in other words the entire thing's observational but interpreted as providing a causal explanation)--
--they do perceive this as basically nonsense, hence "having x doesn't excuse [behaviour]" but then simultaneously, they have a prima facie credulous attitude toward Science, and toward the claim that psychiatry is Science, and so you get these like nonsense statements out both sides of their mouths where a diagnosis doesn't excuse anything they find morally reprehensible or personally annoying but it does also provide biologically irrefutable explanations for other things WHEN that's convenient for them.
another thing is just that experientially, lots of our actions feel out of our control for like numerous reasons having to do with alienation largely, and when those actions are also stigmatised it pushes people toward the promise of moral exculpation that psychiatry markets itself with, which is a kind of determinism in its strong forms and isn't really compatible with interpreting other people's actions as being intentional or willed or whatever. so again you just end up with these double statements lol , like, a problem with psychiatry trying to claim legitimacy as a 'brain science' is it does kind of counterpose itself to most interpretations of free will. any time you are stuck choosing between moral culpability and biological determinism you kinda already lost the plot & this is something that antipsych people get maddeningly accused of all the time when what we're actually saying is it's possible to be neither biologically diseased nor broken nor immoral for doing the Behaviours lol

May 23, 1814 - At yesterday's ball hosted by the illustrious Cowper family, one could not help but notice Miss Cressida Cowper, whose ethereal gown left onlookers in awe. Rumors abound that the delicate fabric, allegedly from the Far East, lent an air of exotic allure to her ensemble. However, the discerning eye might notice a subtle familiarity. A striking resemblance, one might say, to a certain gown worn by Daphne Bridgerton, now Duchess of Hastings, in the previous season. Perhaps the secrets of this so-called rare silk are not as elusive as the Cowpers would have us believe.
Despite the "exotic" nature of Miss Cowper's dress, Miss Y/N Beaumont took center stage in the Cowper's ballroom. Miss Beaumont has seamlessly transitioned from the limelight of debutante to the darling of London society. But last night saw a notable shift in Miss Beaumont's approach to the season. Despite numerous suitors vying for her favor, Y/N spent most of her time in the company of her dear friend, Penelope, and the comforting presence of her mother, Countess Beaumont. Was the ton's selection of gentlemen not up to Miss Beaumont's standards?
A deep sigh left your lips. You crumpled up Lady Whistledown's column and placed it on your bedside table, already feeling a headache coming in. The previous night's ball had been somewhat of a disaster for you, and you were doing well not to think about it too much. You didn't know what was wrong with you. All the boys had been perfect gentlemen, some even making you laugh. Yet, the aftermath of each dance left you feeling disheartened, a sentiment you couldn't easily shake off. At least Lady Whistledown hadn't mentioned that your dance card was populated only with the names of Colin and Anthony Bridgerton. It would have also included your brothers' names had they not been away on some hunting escapade.
Realistically, you knew you should be disappointed that only a handful of hopeful bachelors showed up to see you today, bouquets and poems in tow, but you couldn't quite bring yourself to feel bad. Truthfully, you just missed Ben. He had been gone for about five days now, and you were pretty miserable without him by your side. The gnawing sensation in your stomach, an instinctual search for him in a crowd only to be met with the reality of his absence, had become an inconvenient routine.
Ben was consuming your thoughts. Your best friend had been gone for days at a time before, but this time was different. You missed the sly smiles he sent your way when one of your brothers said something particularly preposterous. You missed his rambling about art while you had your head comfortably in his lap. You missed his small touches, a hand on the small of your back, or a bump of your shoulders when he sensed you needed reassurance. But most of all, you missed having him nearby, feeling the warmth and comfort of his glowing presence. Perhaps with Benedict by your side, you would have navigated the challenges of the ballroom last night more successfully. Surely, he would notice his best friend feeling anxious and uncomfortable, ready with a witty remark to make you smile and dispel your nerves. But he hadn't been there, and you had floundered trying to connect with men who sought different things in a marriage. You were feeling especially tender tonight, a painful mix of anger, disappointment, and frustration plaguing you. You were surprised by how quickly the novelty of your debut had worn off, and you were left with a gaping Benedict Bridgerton-sized hole in your heart.
In your childhood, the two of you dreamed up a future together, one where you could pursue your literary passions, and Ben could lose himself in his art. Those innocent dreams felt like distant echoes now, and how you yearned for the excitement with which you drafted these plans. To you, that was still the perfect partnership. But none of the gentlemen you had met so far shared an even remotely similar vision. A small part of you secretly wished Benedict was ready to marry, or better yet, ready to marry you. But reality dictated otherwise. Benedict had likely moved on, envisioning a new definition of marital bliss, leaving you with an aching heart and a future devoid of prospects.
A particularly unpleasant train of thought came to your mind, and you found yourself wondering how Benedict was coping. Surely the countryside was a more pleasant experience than the stuffy ballrooms of the ton, but as he was out enjoying the fresh air, did his thoughts circle back to you? Did he regret missing your debut? Or were you merely an afterthought in his countryside musings?
A knock on your door interrupted your swirling thoughts, momentarily diverting the chaos within your mind. You smiled upon seeing your mother's soft features peek through the door.
"Hello, Mum. Is everything alright?"
"I believe I should be asking you that, actually," Countess Beaumont replied carefully, making her way over to your bed. Of course, Primrose had noticed the astounding lack of gentleman callers at their home this morning, a phenomenon you couldn't attribute to your elder siblings dissuading potential suitors.
In turn, you were feeling an acute uneasiness. You knew this conversation would come, but you were not prepared in the slightest. Questions about your altered demeanor had you nervously wringing your hands, avoiding your mother's gaze. Sensing her daughter's distress, Primrose sat beside you, holding your hands and gently squeezing them in hers. The comforting gesture stilled you and brought your eyes to finally meet your mother's.
"I apologize; I did not mean to–" you began, then cleared your throat, changing your answer. "When you met Father, you were both completely enamored since the beginning, correct?"
"Well, perhaps not the very beginning. But after one conversation, yes." Prim laughed, remembering her first meeting with her husband.
"Exactly. I just don't think I'll have something like that. And I know you wanted me to find a love match, but for the life of me, I haven't found someone I'm compatible with, let alone someone who wants to have an actual conversation with me!"
Primrose probed further with utmost tenderness in her voice, mindful of your vulnerable state. "Is that what worries you? Not finding someone right away?"
You sensed that your mother hadn't come to reprimand you for turning away almost all eligible bachelors the night before, or at least, that was no longer the primary intention. No longer feeling defensive, you began articulating your tumultuous thoughts.
"Partially. Lady Whistledown has certainly done me no favors. She set the bar up so high that now if I don't find someone incredible or appropriately titled or very quickly, I fear the whole ton will be disappointed. Lady Whistledown will certainly make her disappointment known. But my life is not a plot line to be used for the ton's gossip sheet. At least not to me. As a woman, choosing who to marry is the most crucial choice I can make about my future, and the only one I will be able to make at all if I marry the wrong person."
Your throat was growing impossibly tight, and your headache was worsening as you tried to assuage the rising anxiety deep in your chest. "I am terrified of squandering this opportunity, of choosing the wrong person and ending up miserable and bored, of not being able to find love so soon and disappointing you and Father–" You cut yourself off with a sob, tears freely running down your reddened cheeks now. Your mother held you in her arms, waiting for the tears to subside before offering reassurance.
After a moment, the countess gently broke the silence, "Those are all very reasonable fears. I was your age when I met your father, but before then, I was feeling very similar to you. Granted, there was no Lady Whistledown sheet at the time, but the ton's gossip still spread with astonishing speed. Darling, believe me, there's nothing to fear. It's more than acceptable if you haven't found a suitable match yet. In fact, it's quite expected. Your father and I were unique, but most connections take time to develop."
Although you now felt much calmer, lingering anxieties still circled your mind. "But what if there is no connection? I haven't felt anything at all with anyone I've talked to so far, so how can I build a marriage from that?"
A sympathetic smile grew on your mother's lips. "That's quite alright. If you don't find a match this year, you can try again next season. But consider you and Benedict, for instance. Two completely opposite children were brought together because you were left out when both families got together. Now you're best friends, practically inseparable," she replied.
You looked on thoughtfully, once again losing yourself in thoughts of your childhood promises to Ben. Pushing the painful thoughts away and tucking them into a small corner of your brain, you continued your questioning.
"I suppose. But I truly can't imagine marrying anyone I met at the Cowper's ball or even anyone at Queen Charlotte's ball. And last night, I heard Alex commenting on the 'night of the marriage' like it was some big event, so now there's one more thing I must worry about when looking for a husband."
Prim felt her heartbeat falter, shock and fury coloring her features. "The wedding night? Alex said this to you?" she managed to eke out.
Sensing you had ventured into uncomfortable territory but unsure where, you hastily responded, "No, no, I overheard him talking about it with someone else. I don't even know what the marriage night is or why it's so important."
Prim let out a breath, somewhat calmed. However, relief was short-lived as you probed further into the details of the marriage night. The countess was frozen, unprepared for this topic, especially so early in the season. But her nervous energy only fueled your curiosity.
After a faltering attempt to form a coherent sentence, Prim cleared her throat and tried again. "The marriage night is an... intimate moment between a married couple. If you marry the right man, which I am sure you will, it will be very enjoyable indeed. Fun, even, so it is nothing to worry about."
"But what happens exactly?" you pressed, curiosity undiminished.
With a sense of finality, your mother responded, "Y/N, I know you have a curious mind, but it is too early for you to know the intricacies right now. The night of the marriage is a wonderful thing for a couple to experience, and that is the only thing you need to know. For now, enjoy the butterflies and keep being excited about your season. There is still much to look forward to. Like Alexander said, the men are there to court you, not the other way around. I apologize if I got a bit overexcited initially, but trust that we are all here for you and will support whichever decision you make." And with that, the subject was closed, and you sensed that further inquiries would only irritate your mother instead of answering your endless questions about this new concept.

"Ben!" came your delighted squeal from across the Beaumonts' garden, where you had previously been sitting with a book in your lap. Now, you were running at full speed toward your best friend, overjoyed to have him back. The impropriety of your run was momentarily forgotten in the sheer happiness of having him back.
Reaching Benedict, you felt yourself being swept up in a tight hug, the arms around your waist immediately bringing a comfort you had not felt since before Queen Charlotte's ball. He gently placed you back on the ground but couldn't find it in himself to let go of you completely. He placed his hands on your shoulders, looking you up and down and trying to take you in as much as possible.
"You've grown quite a bit since I last saw you. Six days, has it been? And already you're almost as tall as me," Ben teased, a charming smile on his face. He hoped his joking demeanor would mask the overwhelming fondness that surged within him. The countryside had been miserable, to say the least. The arrangements to purchase the cottage had gone relatively smoothly, and he could have returned after barely a day and a half away. But he forced himself to remain in the country, not wanting to potentially infringe on his best friend's debut. Despite the sleepless nights and restless days, he resisted the urge to return. What he did not resist, and in fact plagued his mind constantly, were thoughts about his aforementioned best friend. He constantly thought of you, dancing at a ball with a good-for-nothing bachelor, or being flirted with by prospective husbands, or worse, flirting back. Benedict had erroneously thought that his time away in the countryside might have quelled the dull ache in his chest, having instead the opposite effect. But now that he was here, with you looking radiant as ever standing right in front of him, he felt his mind quiet down, relishing in the comfort brought by your presence.
You rolled your eyes and smiled, your affection for Benedict shining through even when feigning annoyance. "Hmm, well, you seem to have shrunk during your time away. Most peculiar," you retorted, easily falling back into your familiar banter.
The two of you walked side by side toward the far end of the garden, where your open book had been left hastily abandoned in the grass. Though there was constant chatter between you, Benedict very pointedly avoided inquiring about your coming out, opting to let you broach the once-sensitive topic at your own pace. But six days devoid of an eager audience for your literary escapades left you yearning to share your thoughts on the thrilling novel that had consumed every one of your moments outside of ballrooms and entertaining callers. And Benedict was more than happy to listen. Seating himself on the soft grass beside your forgotten book, he listened intently and interjected whenever appropriate.
Eventually, you had talked all there was to talk about a 300-page book and chose instead to lean on Ben as you read aloud to him from your current novel. On his end, Benedict was all too aware of your head on his shoulder, your voice carrying a soothing cadence. It was easy to get lost in it. He realized he would miss moments like these once you were married. Since childhood, you had been reading to him in this garden, and it would all be over by the end of the season. But of course, the dull ache he was feeling was because he would miss you after you wed. No other reason.
You suddenly set your book down, finally ready to talk about the elephant in the room. "I spoke with my mother last night. About marriage and the like," you looked over at Benedict, searching his face for any clue about what he might be feeling. His eyebrows shot up, and he nodded for you to continue talking, eager to listen to what you had to say.
"It was quite wonderful, actually; I think a lot of the pressure I was feeling has been relieved," you said with a smile, and I felt Ben relax next to you. Encouraged by another nod and Benedict's murmur of That's good, you continued, recounting the previous night's conversation with Primrose with great detail, conveniently leaving out the part where your mother had used you and Ben as an example of a good connection formed over time.
"Well, I suppose she's rather right, isn't she? Most of us aren't going to fall in love at first sight. Friendships work that way too; look at us," Benedict remarked, and you couldn't help but internally laugh at the fact that he had brought up your connection on his own.
Maintaining the brisk pace of the conversation, you continued, "Yes, exactly, she also said that. And by then, I had calmed down quite considerably, so I asked her about the marriage night and told her that I didn't know what it was but asked if I should worry about that as well."
Benedict choked, quickly masking it with a cough as he swallowed thickly. The marriage night? How on earth did you know about that? He subtly adjusted his sitting position, nodding at you to continue. "And what did she say to that?" he struggled out.
"She chastised me for even knowing what it was, of course, but I had overheard Alex talking about it, so she can't really be upset with me at that, can she? Anyhow, she refused to tell me what it was," you glanced at Ben, your expression expectant. He chuckled, gesturing for you to continue, resisting the temptation to elaborate. He knew that explanation should come from a mother to a daughter or perhaps from a husband to a wife, but certainly not from him. He still felt his senses heightened, knowing this conversation was going into unexplored, not to mention forbidden, territory between a proper lady such as yourself and a self-proclaimed rake such as himself. He was acutely aware of the proximity of your knee to his leg, and a subtle heat crept up his neck.
Disappointed but undeterred, you pushed on, "Well, she said it was going to be enjoyable. If I choose the right husband, of course. Ben, are you sure you can't tell me? Not even a clue? My mother's response was quite unsatisfactory. What does she mean 'fun'? Why will the marriage night be 'fun'? Does she mean the kind of fun like when I'm playing pall mall? Or the kind of fun when you take me on nature walks at Aubrey Hall? Why will no one talk to me about this?"
Ben was, quite suddenly and very wholly, overtaken by a heat he felt everywhere that was traveling down his stomach. He could sense that you were exasperated, but he needed a moment to recover from you comparing sleeping with someone to something the two of you did. Benedict felt his heartbeat in his ears and couldn't tear his eyes away from your lips, pursed in frustration. Lips that looked awfully kissable, if he were to be completely honest. His breathing quickened, and he was actively fighting the desire he felt for the girl in front of him, keeping his hands rigid by his sides to avoid touching you in the way he wanted to. He groaned internally from both the intensity of the feeling and the effort of holding it back. His mind was elsewhere, in a candlelit room with you in a nightgown or perhaps a towel, but he knew he had to answer in a semi-normal way, if possible. He blinked quickly and met your eyes, narrowed and expectant.
"It's really not my place, Y/N. The countess would kill me twice if she knew I had talked about this with you at all, let alone told you what it was," he answered finally. However, the immediate drop in your expression made him feel awful, and he was desperate to alleviate the frown on your face.
"Alright," he relented, "what your mother said was true; it will most likely be fun, given you marry the right man. And, um..." Ben scrambled to find a delicate way to explain the night of the marriage without risking a duel with Alexander Beaumont. "It's not like Pall Mall," he said after a pause. "It's more like... scratching an itch? It'll feel fulfilling, hopefully."
You put your head in your hands clearly through attempting to get anything out of him. "Scratching an itch? What does that even mean?" you exclaimed.
Ben would've laughed at the scene had he not still been feeling out of sorts from the previous conversation. He was astounded and a little embarrassed that he had had such an intense reaction to the slightest mention of the marriage night. He shook his head, trying unsuccessfully to get rid of the thoughts running through his mind. This, he reasoned, was precisely why he was a rake. Evidently, he wasn't ready to marry and needed more time in his rakish ways to get it out of his system. Wiping his brow and eager to redirect his thoughts, he turned to you once again, launching into a detailed explanation of the beautiful countryside landscapes he had seen while away and how he was going to paint them.
