Phoenix is the main OC of all her siblings, she’s half self insert and half Mary Sue but I can do whatever I want because it’s my OC universe :3

Phoenix and her siblings are from a world known as Ciborto’s Moon and the native species of that world is known as “the Descendants of Beauty”. Quite literally, they are descended from the bloodline of Idrila the Beauty.

Biology tangent: Descendants of Beauty mostly look like regular human beings. The only physical differentiator is that almost all Descendants have long thin tails tipped with either a spade shape or a heart shape. Very rarely, a Descendant may also have small horns that appear at their hairline. Descendants of Beauty also have evolved to be able to “taste” and “feed” on emotions, rather than needing to eat regular food.

Because Descendants of Beauty are literally descended from an Aeon, they are somewhat revered on Ciborto’s Moon. Essentially, they are considered the “royal family” of the planet and they rule over the planet in Idrila’s stead since THEY have disappeared. Most Descendants still believe Idrila is alive and simply in hiding. What evidence do they have for this? The fact that Phoenix is an Emanator of Beauty.

Phoenix became an Emanator of Beauty shortly after she was exiled from Ciborto’s Moon and she joined the Astral Express. The Express had taken a pit stop at Ciborto’s Moon and Phoenix stowed away on the train. It wasn’t until they were three star systems away from Ciborto’s Moon that Pom-Pom realized that there was an unaccounted for passenger. This was even before Welt had joined the Express, so it was just Himeko and Phoenix navigating the stars together for a little bit.

Backstory tangent: Phoenix was exiled from Ciborto’s Moon because she had gotten herself involved with some really shady people. She would often get into trouble with her friends and, due to her status, she would usually get away with just a slap on the wrist in the eyes of the law. That is, until all their antics ended up with someone dead. The laws of Ciborto’s Moon are very ‘an eye for an eye’ type beat, but Phoenix’s mother pulled as many strings as she could to lower the sentence on her daughter as she could. It ended up with Phoenix exiled rather than killed in retaliation. It’s better than nothing.

Phoenix would travel with the Express for several years. It was only after March was rescued that Phoenix disembarked from the Express. She still considers herself a Nameless and she still very much follows the Path of the Trailblaze, but… She felt the need to explore the universe on her own. To forge her own path in life. Phoenix will still come by and visit her family on the Express and she’s still part of the Express Family groupchat, but she has her own things to do in life now.

Phoenix would travel the universe on her own for a good while until she would arrive on a world that was currently under occupation of the IPC. It was a fairly modernized planet with very much a lot of “big city” type vibes. Think kinda like the Golden Hour on Penacony. It was on this planet that Phoenix would meet Aventurine as well as Aventurine’s boyfriend, a Masked Fool and Emanator of Elation named Early Autumn (referred to as Emilio for here on out as that is his real name). Emilio belongs to my brother, @oliver2twist :3

Phoenix and Aventurine end up not getting along very well for a long time, but for some reason, they continue to run into each other on different planets. Slowly, *very* slowly, their relationship eventually warms to each other and Phoenix basically gets to have an enemies-to-lovers arc with Aventurine and her and Emilio also end up having feeling for each other.

As far as canon interactions with the Trailblazer goes, Phoenix would not be introduced into the storyline until Penacony. She received an invitation from the Watchmaker due to her numerous connections with the Descendants of Beauty, the Nameless, the IPC, and the Knights of Beauty (Ciborto’s Moon had been the original home world where the Knights had originated from before they began to wander the cosmos).

Phoenix does have this one really important moment when Aventurine’s boss fight comes in to play. When the second phase of the fight starts, a cutscene would play of her rushing towards Aventurine and shifting into her Emanator form. One of her powers as an Emanator of Beauty is that she is able to shapeshift a little bit, shrinking and growing to whatever her desired size is. She uses that power to shrink very small and perches on Aventurine’s shoulder for the second phase of the fight to provide buffs during the boss fight. She did this because she could “taste” the desperation on Aventurine for his plan to work and she made that decision to jump in despite her not knowing the plan or understanding what Aventurine was doing.

Phoenix does not get sent to the Event Horizon of the Nihility when Acheron draws her blade because Aventurine throws her to the side once he sees Acheron stepping into the battle. Instead, she’d go to Dreamflux Reef with the rest of the Express Crew and the story mostly goes on a normal from there. She and Firefly become close during the events of the story and Phoenix also almost mauls Sunday when Sunday tells the crew that Welt and Robin were imprisoned.

After the events of Penacony, Phoenix and Emilio go with the IPC back to Pier Point to make sure Aventurine is really safe. Phoenix gets really clingy and she does *not* trust Boothill in the slightest whenever Aventurine is talking with him. Eventually, Aventurine gets a little sick of the clinginess, so he pulls some strings and has her set up with a modeling contract to distract her. It ends up working and now she’s also kinda a famous model. I told you she’s a Mary Sue, but also, I have so much fun with Phoenix’s lore.

More shit will be added to her lore as the game continues, but I do not think that Phoenix will have a part to play in the next world that the Express goes to from what information we have now.

As far as Phoenix’s siblings go, she comes from a fairly large family. She has one older sister, a young half-sister, and two younger brothers.

Sphinx is the eldest daughter of the family at age 25. She is the heir apparent of Ciborto’s Moon and she’s basically the stereotypical big sister character. Very sweet, very loving, very maternal. She *does* have a small alcoholism problem, but other than that, she’s a pretty good person.

I should state, Phoenix is 22 for reference.

The half-sister to the family is Wyvern. She was the product of Ciborto’s Moon’s king (Phoenix and the rest of the siblings’ father) having an affair with a random woman. Wyvern was brought into the family at age 10 when the queen found out about the affair and she’s treated very well. Wyvern is now 21 years old.

The first brother is Basilisk at 19 years old. He’s not a very social person and he doesn’t tend to make public appearances on Ciborto’s Moon. Out of all the siblings, he and Phoenix were surprisingly the closest. As children and young teenagers, the two would sneak out together to go to the arcade together or do other things that regular kids got to do. Basilisk is the most resentful of being born into the family he was, wishing he was a “normal kid”.

The youngest sibling is Selkie at 14. He was *very* much an oopsies baby as their mother didn’t think she was able to still get pregnant. Nonetheless, he was still a very welcome addition to the family. Though, Phoenix couldn’t tell you much more about her youngest sibling anymore. She was exiled when Selkie was about 9 years old. Things change pretty quickly in just a few years.

Vee with a Palisman! His name is Dewdrop, and he's precious, and Vee loves him like a baby, but he's protective and tries to act big, but he's tiny. (Then again, if a bug this big in real life threatened me, I would probably run for the hills)

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted their species to be, but then when I started thinking about insects, my mind went to these little fellas that hide in plain sight, JUST. LIKE. VEE.

I'm definitely using him in my AU (where Vee grows up on earth and comes with Masha to the Boiling Isles [I realize I probably need a name for it]). Maybe they bond on Palisman Adoption Day, or earlier, IDK.

Finally finished ref sheet for my Cryptid Crush inspired OC. Big warning, it's a doodle in my opinion, since I really struggled with the lineart, being more of a painting guy, but wanted to post it here anyway.

He is inspired by Warsaw Basilisk, the closest thing I could find that could count as a cryptid in my country lmao. (exposing myself on internet as a Polish person). With basilisk being a mix of chicken, lizard, bat and crocodile, I had a pretty fun design challenge, creating something new with some great inspiration. The biggest struggle for me were the bat hands, but after all I'm pretty happy with how he looks in the end as a concept. Bazyli or for English speaker he uses Basil (His parents were not so original I fear) is 22 years old. He uses he/them pronouns and is fulfilling his short king duty with 168 cm of hight. Will probably write most of his lore later, but he is a bit of a shy but loud mess. He actually do not kill with his sight (unless he would want to) and the Warsaw Basilisk was his weird uncle. Basili himself is from Silesia and left his country for studies and just never returned there.

I think that's all for now, but soon will probably do a painting of him more in my style :D

🏵️ Scarabia Headcanons!! 🏵️

Hey, so I've crawled out of college hell to deliver the next set of headcanons!!

Last second, after I'd already finished them, I decided to redo Kalim again and toss in a new oc. Yippee!

My precious boy!! For the changes, I made his skin a bit darker, no particular reason other than looking nice. I made the gap in his teeth a bit more slanted and gave him lil canines :3 going ham with making him look like an otter.

More scars from the assassination attempts, yay. Added a little diamond at the top of his earrings for fun and that's most of it.

Dareen, my beautiful girl... Practically nothing changed, honestly, except I upgraded the style.

She's slightly lighter and I removed her hair beads, though they'd probably be a part of her dorm uniform.

Unique Magic - "Diamond in the Rough": Once cast, Dareen can tell when someone is lying or being dishonest. It's more effective on those she knows.

She's a Psychology major and is a part of the Basketball Club. Their birthday is February 12th (Aquarius).

Damn did Chunying get an upgrade, geez. I made her actually look Mongolian, though very pale. I wanted them to highkey look like a spirit haunting the mountain.

Gave her more scars from her adventures and growing up in the mountains. Some snake bites and second set of ear piercings to add to that tough vibe. I also gave her a sharp bob for the same reason.

Unique Magic - "The General will Survive": Chunying becomes immune to the climate around her for 24 hours.

She's an Environmental Studies and History double major. Jade and her collaborated to form the Mountain Lovers Club, bonding over their loves of hiking. Her birthday is March 21st (Aries).

She's a Culinary major and a Botany minor. She's in the Gardening Club (founded by Calendula) and her birthday is February 29th (Pisces).

NEW CHARACTER!!! Introducing Kay BasilisK! He's twisted from both Jafar's staff and Kaa from The Jungle Book. He's Indian and a snake beastfolk (meaning he's got retractable fangs from the cobra staff and a forked tongue). He and Jamil are like super distantly related and that shows in his UM.

I gave him snake bites for obvious reasons and wanted his hair to have a lot of fang-like shapes.

He comes from a thickly forested area and has always been around nature. This means he's really passionate about environmental rights and whatnot.

Unique Magic - "Hunger Dance": Freezes a target of Kay's choice for a brief time via eye contact. Once immobility wears off, the target is in a trance-like state for up to ten minutes.

He's a Political Science and Ecology double major and a part of the Mountain Lovers Club. His birthday is January 8th (Capricorn).

Well i have decided to make a little silly phenomenon in pareidolia so. yes folke is used as an example for a reason no i wont elaborate... but i will elaborate about the phenomenon below...

most humans associate the scars with trolls (keep in mind this is about basilisks in the nordics so) because of the idea that trolls shapeshift (in Pareidolia Reality they don't and the "real" trolls are more baueresque than the more traditional view. but its all human terminology anyway lol). any humans with troll scars tend to try to hide them bcs of it, but it can be hard depending on how extensive they are - if you just got a scar where you have extra furring, you may just be able to shave it. if you got the feather variant, it might suck a bit more lol...

troll scars are premanent, the tissue it affects will be forever changed.

filament tends to be somewhat adapted to fit where the original tissue was. claws won't grow from random patches of skin etc.

pigment is usually inherited from the scarred individual, but on rare occasions it may spontaneously "pick up" on local bird species pigmentation like basilisks do in development (as baby)

metamorfum acid burns heal very fast - a large area can heal in about as little as a month. but that's just for the "superficial" healing, and it will appear like a normal burn scar at first until it'll slowly start to grow the new filaments or the tissue will appear to "change".

basilisk acid burns rarely ever go deeper than the skin because it stops being active fast after exiting the basilisk body.

many basilisk cultures are hesitant about interspecies relationships (with other sophonts i mean) using hastuik as a justification. interestingly enough, metamorfum accidents don't seem to affect harpies as badly, probably because the two species are related, so there's usually less of a hesitation in regards to those relationships. it may vary however from community to community

hastuik is a basilisk term (well among scandinavian basilisks) which often refers to these scars but also in other contexts and is also a combination of two words - "hastu", which is also a family suffix (used for chicks before they pick their name), whose meanings include young/youth, chick and naiveté, while "ik" can be translated to foolishness/stubbornness (specfically with the connotation that it is unreasonable). calling another basilisk hastuik is basically calling them naive/childish in a derogatory sense since the term is kind of obsolete for them anyway (the acid burns heal normally for them)

Number II, aka Tulip🌷

Age≈ late 20's/early 30's (~15 years older than Vee)

Goes by They/Them, Is the second oldest of the experimented Basilisks. They firsthand witnessed Number One(Greater basilisk that attacks Hexide)'s descent into madness and animalistic hunger. They were scared of what they could become, so they fought extra hard to retain their sanity, vowing to protect their younger kin. Tulip often risked taking punishments from the captors in the other's stead.

At around 15 years old, Tulip hears scouts talk about a new test subject that hatched recently and will soon be ready for experiments. Tulip breaks out and rescues the infant number five. A month of laying low later, and they are both hiding in a cave. Tulip finds a pool of Titan's blood trapped deep within, and they both enter into the human realm.

Tulip can't stay. They know they need to protect Treble and Ivy. So they watch in the shadows as Vee is taken into the care of a couple of humans before leaving her behind, where she can grow up in a place far from the Emperor's grasp. They absorb the remaining magic in the portal, severing this temporary link so that nobody can follow their child.

I got the idea to name her Treble from The Angel of the Owl house, by OwlHouseAngel on A03. I thought fit well, considering she's playing Eda's Citern in the finale, and the Idea of a basilisk playing instruments sounds cool. (even inspired some things for my AU)

Both were created from the same set of samples, making them almost like twins. They've got a close-knit sibling bond, very protective of each other. Treble gets headstrong and does risky things like attack coven scouts. Ivy often has to reign Treble in to prevent her from being too reckless. He tends to take an overly cautious approach to anything new.

I'm still not entirely sure how they play into the AU, but they meet Vee and are introduced to Camila to be accepted into their family

I loved this shot when I first saw it, I'm glad to see at least someone in the crew cares about them

I like to think she has a collection of different sweaters and chooses to wear them to keep her warm. Basilisks are mostly cold-blooded but passivly use up their magic to keep warm in cold temperatures. Vee likes to conserve energy by dressing warm during the colder months

She ended up in the human realm thanks to Tulip and was quickly adopted by the Nocedas. Not knowing about her origins, she's horrified learning what her kin has gone through.

She's less timid when confronting danger and hasn't gone through her canon trauma (minus a few fears like sharp objects and dark basements from ). She does, however, have trauma and grief from Manny's sickness and death.
