Summary: While taking some of the pack out on a morning run, a child that has fled her old fashion werewolf cult that was being burned down by hunters runs into Stiles. Running for her life she remembers her grandmother's words, "If your ever being chased look for a human mother." She happens to find Stiles who gives an aurora of a mother (due to the pack claiming him as their pack mom) and hides from the hunters behind him. The pack then takes her in and begin to bond with the little werewolf child, the only problem is her Alpha wants her back. But the Hale/McCall pack is having none of that and will fight to keep their newly adopted Beta from ever being harmed by her Alpha again.

One: There is a strict hierarchy in the pack; anyone in a Wolf pack should be aware of how non-aware humans will act. Essentially, they will be confused, because non-aware humans do not understand the way Wolf packs work.

Fael Warden had watched the Stilinski Gang - as they were called by the rest of the school - since they had been just Scott-and-Stiles. They had seen the ‘gang’ grow from two to three to five, and now to seven. There was a certain way the Gang operated, like-

A thump. Fael's girlfriend, Aanya, sat next to them with a grin. She leaned around them, grinning over at the center table.

Stiles sat on one end of the table, facing the door. On his right was Vernon Boyd with Erica Reyes next to him, then Lydia Martin. Jackson Whittemore faced his girlfriend, delicately- somehow - eating his pizza; Isaac Lahey leaned all over him, pale scarf getting periodically caught in Jackson’s leather jacket; Allison Argent - that black-haired beauty in leather - sat next to him, arms strung around her boyfriends, then Scott McCall, the Original Stiles Stilinski Gang member; and then Stiles himself.

As soon as Stiles finished his food, the rest of the “gang” looked at him, their bodies turned toward the freckled teen like sunflowers to the sun. He was the first to get up, and only after he did so, Boyd got up. Scott stood next, then Erica and Allison simultaneously, and then the rest of them.

Stiles walked out first, too, with Scott and Boyd at his right and left sides respectively, and just half a step behind him.

Fael couldn’t help but notice, though, how there seemed to be someone missing in the group, an unconscious space the teens left in their little gathering.

Two: Growling, snarling, and other such behaviors are not considered ‘normal’ in non-Wolf packs, or in Unaware populations of humans. On the contrary of normal, actually; many Wolves have been side-eyed because of such actions in public.

Please be careful with your control - keep a tight leash on your Wolf - when interacting with your pack in public spaces where non-aware humans may see; it’s vital to your pack's Emissary and/or local Magical Entity’s sanity.

Fael and Aanya sat down in the park, a soft flannel blanket protecting them from the spiky. They unloaded the picnic basket they’d packed at Aanya’s house - potato and chutney sandwiches and cake - and talked about anything and everything. It was a nice day outside, sunny with enough cloud cover for people to just… walk around, and the two high schoolers were happy to pull their homework out. Well, Fael was happy to do so; Aanya was a little more... recticent, and needed plenty of kisses as a bribe. Fael was more than happy to provide. Right after they finished their economics homework, Aanya pulled Fael down onto the blanket. The sunshine is warm on their skin, and they look at Aanya's chocolate-brown hair, and think that maybe this could last, before their attention is drawn away from someone who might very well be the love of their life and to-

A few of them were playing some kind of game, tug-of-war or something maybe, and Stiles was in the middle. As Fael and Aanya watched, a shout echoed over where Erica Reyes had just fallen - tripped - over Stilinski. The rest of the Gang froze. He looked up at her, raising an eyebrow. Stiles pulled his teeth back, snarling in a mountain lion [wolf] -like manner, an echoing rumble coming from deep in his chest. Erica shrunk a little, her head ducking to bare her neck. Scott - one of the other participants in the tug-of-war they'd been playing - crouched too, shrinking back, until Stiles rose.

Stiles put a hand on both their necks, let his growl taper out, and Fael and Aanya's eyes met Boyd's.

He looked at them, just watching, not even blinking for a long minute.

Well, this would be another thing that the two would never speak of, ever again, unless they wanted someone like Boyd or Allison or Lydia or Scott after them. (Scott going after someone would have been nearly inconceivable when Scott-and-Stiles were in their freshman year, but here they all were.)

The Stilinski Gang was terrifying, abnormal, strange, and this would always be just another strange thing about them.

Three: The Hale pack of Wolves is exempt from persecution from the Beacon Hills Sheriff's Department.

If you, as a Deputy of Beacon Hills, see any of them acting suspiciously - especially near a crime scene - you report it directly to Sheriff Stilinski and let him handle it, then forget that you ever saw it. If you are unable to find the Sheriff at any time, find either his son, Stiles (who can - somehow - be summoned by saying that the Sheriff is eating anything deep-fried) and tell him, or call Derek Hale - he's the mountain lion slash animals with claws consultant for the Sheriff's Department - from the number on the Sheriff's computer.

Deputy Vanya Feltsman had, after finding out that his sister and sibling-in-law had died and left their kid - Fael - in need of a guardian, had requested a transfer from New York City to Beacon Hills, California, and helped Fael through the... transition. He'd heard of the so-called 'Stilinski Gang,' but hadn't put any credence to the rumors, because what the fuck would be wrong with those people for them to act like that, but Vanya had to swallow the complicated feelings that had come at the briefing when he'd moved in.

If you see these people [insert a series of pictures that Vanya had committed to memory] near a crime scene, no you don't. Trust me, it's just better if you don't see them. Tell the sheriff if you see any hint of mountain lions when you're doing rounds in the Preserve. If you hear howling at any time, ignore it. The Sheriff's son, Stiles, comes in here sometimes. He's a good kid. You can trust him with pretty much anything, and sometimes if the Sheriff isn't around he brings food that most of us would die for. If the Sheriff is around, he's gonna bring in salad and the like, because he's concerned about his dad's risk of heart disease. His salad's amazing, though, so once he leaves we're usually allowed into the Sheriff's office to share some with him. Stiles is allowed on most of the computers here, mostly 'cause he'd get into them either way, and it's better for us to have him monitered than not.

"Excuse me, Sheriff?" Vanya poked his head into the Sheriff's office. "I wanted to let you know-" He was cut off by the Sheriff.

"You're the new deputy, right? Vanya Feltsman?" The older man stood, gestured Vanya in. "What can I help you with?"

"I was told - during my briefing-slash-new-person-initiation thing," Vanya took a fortifying breath. "To let you know if I saw any one of the teens in the slideshow near a crime scene, Sheriff."

"Call me John, Vanya, everyone here does, especially after they've told me about the kids back where they're not supposed to be again." Sheri- John looked at Vanya, meeting his eyes. "Do you remember which one it was?"

"Um, it was your son, I think, Stiles was there, yeah," Vanya nodded to himself. "And I think... one of the other kids had a scarf and curly hair? I think so, yeah, and there was a teen there with floppy hair and a vaguely crooked jaw?"

"Fuck." The empathetic sigh had Vanya wincing. "Okay, thank you, Vanya." Vanya reached the door before he was called back. "Oh, and Deputy?" He turned back to see the Sheriff's eye on him, dark and bottomless. "You saw nothing, you saw no one of notice at that crime scene." There was an undercurrect on desperation in the command, though, the desperate request of a nearly-helpless parent, and Vanya smiled.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Sheriff, I simply came in here to inform you that your son is coming here in twenty minutes."

About a week after that incident, the Sheriff was dealing with something in a different city - some kind of convention, or something - and so Vanya had to resort to... alternate measures. Specifically, calling the number on the sticky note attached to every computer in the department.

"Hale."

"Uh, hi. This is Deputy Vanya Feltsman from the Beacon HIlls Sheriff Department. Is this the mountain lion-slash-animals with claws consultant for the police department?"

"Yes."

"There's been an... incident, let's say, in the back of the Department's field, and two of the perpetrators are in holding right now. There are claw marks in the back door. Could you come down and take a look, please?"

"Sure. Who's in holding right now? It'll help me figure out what happened."

"Um, it's two teens. Jackson Whittemore and Vernon Boyd, actually, I don't know if you know-" Vanya was cut off by a groan.

"Of course it's them," he wasn't sure if he was supposed to have heard that. "Please let them know that I think they're idiots."

"Um, of course I will,"

"I'll be there soon!" And a BEEP signaled the end of that conversation, apparently.

"Excuse me," Vanya peeked into the holding cell, where the two teens were staring at each other in complete silence. "The person I called - Derek Hale, I believe is his name - said to tell you both that you're idiots?"

"Fuck, you called Derek?"

"Yes, he did," A fairly growly voice said from behind Vanya, and he nearly had a heart attack when he turned around. Derek Hale was standing right behind him, staring over his shoulder at the two teens in the holding cell, and the two kids now looked slightly terrified. "You both are in trouble. You interupted Stiles' training." Okay, now they looked slightly more scared-

Vanya blinked, shaking his head. There must've been some sort of... glare or something, coming off of Derek Hale's eyes from the lights, because Vanya could've sworn his eyes flashed red. But that was… impossible, and so Vanya shook it off.

He waved them away with a smile on his lips and an extracted promise to meet the Sheriff’s son at some point.
