I heard about a Narrator oc a while ago and wanted to ask about it!
Tell me about your oc :)
Yes! So they are an oc made with some friends of mine (@greenshirtguystuff and @thegoldenduckie)
(They are also not to be confused with Narrative, an oc initially made as a joke to have a group that (when their names are out together) is DoomEd By the Narrative)
They live in a world outside of fiction and reality, though it is wildly unclear what exactly it is. There are different positions in it, all of which come together to make stories and universes.
There’s Writers, Narrators, Illustrators, Animators, and Readers (also the role of Watchers and Listeners, but they all are clumped together). It does effectively function as a hierarchy, with Writers on top, Readers on the bottom, and the rest somewhere in between.
Narrator is, as you guessed it, a Narrator! However, they go “fuck the hierarchy” and start to shift the story written by their Writer. They try to give the characters a happy ending. Their writer is known for tragedy, for not allowing the characters to be happy. But Narrator changes this—and thus ensures the wrath of their Writer.
Tbh these characters exist in a plotless void but hey! Narrator and their Reader are gay as shit for each other so there’s that :D
Anyway i love them <3

Hi hi Morri! Happy STS! I recently started classes again and one of my classes is Starting a Novel, so in that vein I would like to ask you: how would you describe the tone of your narrator's voice? Whether you use 1st person, 3rd person, or another POV, what tone does your narrator tend to take as you write?
Ohh, these are good questions, Andi!! Thank you!
I'm going to talk about the unnamed narrator for High Fantasy WIP, because he's my most interesting narrator. He's a raven in service of that universe's death god, the Raven Queen. He follows the group and keeps track of their exploits, and the entire book is his retelling of their adventure to the Raven Queen herself.
If you've ever read The Book Thief by Markus Zuzak, I imagine him a bit like Death in that book. He's not supposed to care or get invested, and he's never going to intervene, but he does take interest in the party and watches them.
However, I'm hoping to aim for a bit more of a sarcastic spin on his voice, since this book is definitely a bit more lighthearted than The Book Thief. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get it right how I want it, especially since this is my first time writing like this, but I have hopes!!

-----
Woop woop new trend! (i hope)
I've never started a trend or done an event like this before, however, I do want to do my best in hosting something fun for the community. So, if you have any questions. leave them in tags or replies and I will try to answer them as best as i can!
And, much like what narry says, you are not required to participate! if you miss a day, or an event, or don't have the motivation to do anything up ahead, then thats fine too! This is just meant to be something nice and fun to do. Plus a way to celebrate vacations and road trips bc i love those kinda things and we get to give our tsp goobers a little break, as a treat ksjdhfkjsdfh
really hope to see some people participate, even if its just for one prompt :3
see you all when the itinerary drops! and tysm to everyone in the original post brainstorming this idea that showed an interest in doing this!
UPDATE: PROMPT LIST/ITINERARY DROPPED RAHH

What is an Unreliable Narrator? And How to Write One.
An unreliable narrator is a storytelling technique where the narrator's credibility or truthfulness is questionable. The narrator either intentionally or unintentionally provides a distorted or biased account of the events, characters, or situations in the story. This narrative approach can add complexity, suspense, and intrigue to your writing. Here's how you can create an unreliable narrator:
1. Establish a motive: Determine why the narrator is unreliable. It could be due to personal bias, mental instability, deception, or a hidden agenda. Develop their backstory, motivations, and beliefs to understand why they might present a skewed version of events.
2. Use subjective language: Incorporate language and descriptions that reflect the narrator's personal viewpoint and biases. Their opinions, emotions, and interpretations should color their narration, influencing how readers perceive the story.
3. Include contradictions and inconsistencies: Allow the narrator to make contradictory statements or present conflicting information. This creates doubt and keeps the readers engaged as they try to unravel the truth.
4. Reveal information selectively: The unreliable narrator might withhold or reveal information strategically, manipulating the readers' understanding of the story. This can create suspense and surprise as readers discover hidden truths.
5. Showcase unreliable perceptions: Explore how the narrator's perceptions and interpretations of events differ from reality. They may misinterpret actions, misremember details, or even hallucinate. These discrepancies add depth to the character and raise doubts about their reliability.
6. Use other characters as contrasting sources: Introduce other characters who present alternative perspectives or contradict the narrator's version of events. This contrast allows readers to question the reliability of the narrator and form their own interpretations.
7. Employ narrative techniques: Experiment with techniques like foreshadowing, symbolism, or unreliable memory to emphasize the narrator's unreliability. These devices can help blur the line between truth and fiction, leaving readers intrigued and uncertain.
8. Provide hints and clues: Drop subtle hints or clues throughout the story that suggest the narrator's unreliability. This allows readers to piece together the truth gradually and encourages them to engage actively with the narrative.
