#oc: the phantom prince

I fixed my mess of light-brown hair—halfway pixie-cut, halfway not-femme-enough-for-that, depending on how I styled it—and then threw on some reasonably feminine clothes (i.e., jeans and a t-shirt from the women’s section). As a finishing touch, I put on some mascara that would probably be smudged by midday, and bam! I looked like a general facsimile of a girl.

random OC ask: tell me about an OC who really likes music! or for all your OCs—which instrument would/do they play and why?

Ooh!! Hmm I've never thought about this before, but now that you mention it ...

Roux used to play the violin when they were a kid. They were pretty good at it, actually (they had private tutors and practiced a lot), but they absolutely hated it. They wanted to play the guitar, because they thought that was cooler. Their parents wouldn't let them.

Ambrose absolutely had a "learn to play the guitar to impress people" phase in college. He got impatient and dropped it pretty quickly, lol. In general, he's not that interested in learning to play an instrument. He played the clarinet in school but dropped out of band as soon as he was allowed to. He sucked at it.

Vale grew up playing the piano! It was one of those rich kid things. He now has a grand piano in his living room, but it's mostly just for show. Loren used to play it, when they lived with him, but Vale hasn't actually touched it in years. If Phantom gets bored enough, he might learn how to play it. He's never played an instrument before. His music elective in school was chorus, but he didn't think he was very good at singing.

Phantom Aaravos

"Sing once again with me.. our strange duet~"

The damned, the daunting, the enchanting phantom of the opera! The idea of a human aaravos seemed too basic since he's like, a star touched elf, right? They seemed like this far away ethereal thing anyway and it kinda reminded me of the phantom lol. The phantom was already kind of like this magician so his eye, i imagine would be kinda janked from betraying the surface opera all those years ago. Might make more fanart of this. Let me know what you guys think!

Also that's my dragon prince oc, Mauve! She's taking Christine's place here but if you guys don't like that, I can change it to someone else

Meet Jest, the Royal Jester for Aragon & his Royal Court. He’s witty, sarcastic and great for a laugh and for serious talks. He’s Dora’s closest friend and may or may not have a HUGE crush on her❤️. She’s always been very kind and treated him with respect and he certainly reciprocates those feelings back. He and Aragon tend to butt heads or well a skull in his case because of his rather….not being a great ruler but he’s tolerated him, at least enough for him to be around Dorathea. That idea was @a-sterling-rose . He’s also the one who informs Aragon on news, usually not good news. Fun fact jesters were actually far more respected back then and had a lot more power even in battle and can get away with taking a jab at the Royals! With that said, their Kingdom’s so far been ruled with stuffy values, elitism and overall looking down on others so he hasn’t always gotten the best of respect, especially from Royals and Nobles(You could say their Kingdom was especially stuck in the Dark Ages). He was also born with dwarfism which back then people with that were usually employed by Royalty for status, as gifts and in his case entertainment, he’s def had to deal with people being more amused by his size rather than his jokes. Thankfully Dora’s always taken him seriously and appreciates all he has to offer, is it any wonder why he’d have feelings for her? He def believes she’d be a far better ruler, he’s right👑

For his design I was basing it on Bluebells, the type that grow in the UK. I imagine Dora wasn’t allowed outside of the castle and he’d be nice enough to bring her things, such as those lovely flowers. Fun fact, they can symbolize everlasting love❤️. And in the OG show there was a jester and skeletons, which I decided to combine the two. He also wears hearts and spades, spades meaning death and hearts well u know❤️♠️

Oh and here’s my version of Dora. I’m thinking the rest of the court and workers wear purple(Aragons color) while Jest wears blue, for Dora💙

2. I know that Prince Huoju and Phantom were very close to each other. But what exactly are their relationship? Is it a one-sided adoration and idolizing by Phantom? Or are those two actually in love with each other? If it is, how close were they? just having feelings towards each others or close enough to... mate?

3. Lao and Hong were described as a couple in your story. But since Lao is married with Lady Huiliang. So,what happened between them? If they broke up, how did they?(did one of them tell the other, or did they silently ended it without a word?)

4. What is the relationship between Po and Tigress in your story? Are they just friends like the canon? I know that Po wrote love letters to Tigress, then is it a one-sided crush by Po? Okay! I'll answer some questions!

Nope! My books are safe for the general audience. So. . . That's a quick pass.

My baddies are (platonic) mates. What started their relationship, Huoju found her (a cub) in a cave, where a group of Huns from Mongolia were attempting to kill Mingling. While I am terrible at romance (I am only good at writing friendship), Mingling has her idol to loving her only Huoju (her hero). Despite the beliefs in fighting for what Mingling could imagine, aside the revenge and hatred with her whole life, slaughtering people without mercy, she has been with the Prince of Darkness for centuries (when a mystery caused her age to be immortality, being a shaman).

3. Lao and Hong were described as a couple in your story. But since Lao is married with Lady Huiliang. So,what happened between them? If they broke up, how did they?(did one of them tell the other, or did they silently end it without a word?)

Of course. . . I nearly forgot about that one.

Hong had her insanity idea to marry one who actually cares. Both of my characters are friends. I think Hong would have wanted Lao to find a lady who is more lovely and spiritual than crazy. Besides, I believe their platonic relationship is ironic, but Hong and Lao are good companions.

They'll likely speak with each other again after his marriage.

4. What is the relationship between Po and Tigress in your story?  Are they just friends like the canon? I know that Po wrote love letters to Tigress, then is it a one-sided crush by Po? Or are they in love with each other? If it is, how close are they? just having feelings towards each other or close enough to... mate?

Their relationship, my fellow reader(s), is friendship. If I remember well from my first book (planning to rewrite and edit A New Prophecy), Po used to write a letter to one of his closest companions that he truly meant to him. Tigress became caring with the panda after Po defeated Tai Lung, thought she was wrong about him, despite jealousy impacted her. She was almost going to be chosen as the Dragon Warrior, but instead, she's proven to be an honorable fighter than reflecting the scroll to greedy (Tai Lung).

(To be open-minded, you have to understand that when you have proven yourself worthy, with all the hard work you have achieved many years, you look at the Dragon Scroll and see yourself. No riddles, no secrets of Kung Fu, no secret ingredient, just you.)

Ever since Shen happened, at the factory, Tigress saw Po get shot from the cannon and blast away (and survived). Even that she has those who are encouraging, unlike her skills that the Five are capable of (Thanks to Po, who replaced the scroll with a list of four ideas than Shifu's red panda warriors. Secrets of the Scroll), she nearly lost Po, who cares Tigress.

With their friendship, I say both Tigress and Po are close friends.

Could you answer #1 from the writer's ask game please?

Of course!

1. When did you start writing? How?

Okay so let's rewind to 2010. I was... fourteen? My sister and I were super into Tennis. Yeah the sport. So we spent a lot of time on a little site (now defunct) called Quizilla. It was sort of the precursor to what UQuiz is now, and it hosted not only quizzes but fanfic also. We couldn't find a whole lot of Tennis content on Quizilla--almost all of it was for an anime called The Prince of Tennis, which we promptly got very very into.

The first fanfic I ever wrote was for Prince of Tennis and it was a Seven Minutes in Heaven Quiz hosted on Quizilla. I did two of these: one for the protagonist team and one for their biggest rival team. I co-wrote them with my sister and they didn't, like, explode into popularity, but we did get a lot of comments talking about how well done they were, how each one really felt tailored to the character, rather than flattening them out into the usual dirt bag teenage hot boy antics that you would tend to find in spin the bottle/smih fics/quizzes.

That made me feel really good, that I was coming at a niche with a (very slightly) more mature lens that catered to an underfed more mature audience.

The following attempts at full-on stories were, I'll be frank, not as good. I was definitely exploring what I found attractive about each character, but as story they were definitely very threadbare. I had some good concepts but absolutely no emotional development to make them into what I could call a "story". So I set writing aside for a while, then I did some unpublished OC Bleach fanfic and after that really didn't write much of anything until March of 2021 when my Twilight Renaissance began and I decided to resurrect and overhaul my Twilight OC (you can find out all about her on my side-blog @crookdeclipses ) along with completely overhauling her, her name, and her backstory, I also started a dedicated OC fic called Moonrise. that takes place during the events of New Moon and is about her and how she meets her love interest while abroad during the Cullen exodus. But that's all currently unpublished because while it's set in the Twilight universe and directly connects to the principal cast, almost all of the action deals with completely original characters.

Cut to October. 2022. I watched the Phantom of the Opera (2004) and was high-key not okay afterwards. I discovered right from the beginning that the final lair Brings. Out. The. Worst. In. Me.

So much so that after several weeks of obsessive viewing of the film, I formulated a fix-it scenario which then became When The Longing Returns, which is my first published fic in over ten years, and is also the only thing I've written that I feel justified in calling "a story".
