Emotions OCD Actally Causes
Tumblr media
Madison: Now don’t get me wrong OCD DEFINITELY causes anxiety but more than just anxiety keeps us stuck. I remember vividly near the end of my spiral I was no longer anxious but more frustrated and sad that I couldn’t just “stop”. And lo and behold that was also keeping me stuck. This disorder is sneaky. It will always try to find ways to keep you stuck and without know what it’s using it’s harder to know what’s OCD! Tell me in the comments what emotions you feel besides anxiety!! Follow @obsessivelystrong for more OCD and related content

do i want ocdsupport group or just rumination? do i want to talk to my bf or just reassurance? do i want therapy or just the final reassurance? also so fun to live in a country where there is no such thing as ocd specialists as whole therapy thing is just something new and finding a treatment for myself is well... anyway i dont have money for that anyway... all i know is i want a relief, i want to know what to do (uncertainty intolerance) and some normal, peaceful life

i don’t think people will ever realise how serious, dehabilitating, draining ocd is.
it’s not all about lining things up and washing your hands
it’s about the convincing yourself you’re something awful.
compulsions that are time consuming and draining.
it’s the constant worry you’ve done or said something to offend someone.
it’s the co morbid disorders like trichotillomania, misophonia and more just draining you more.
it’s the constant “just rights”.
it’s the permanent engraved intrusive thoughts that are constantly replaying.
it’s the constant seeking reassurance.
it’s about living in fear because you’re so scared you’ll act out on an intrusive thought.
it’s the constant dread and anxiety.
so so many more.
why, what and how would you want this disorder
why are you romanticising this

Helpful Tips for Skin Pickers
From years of experience, here are the techniques that have helped me the most! TW: Skin Picking
1. Band-Aids! Creates a physical barrier between nails and the picking spot. Seals in the wound to help prevent infection, and is a great reminder to let yourself heal.
2. Short Nails! I know that long nails can be beautiful, but for those of us who suffer from skin-picking compulsions, they make it easier to dig a deeper wound. Added bonus: Short nails help with typing!
3. Fidgets! I love a good fidget, find one that suits you! I really love fidgets that are disguised as jewelry, like spinner rings and bracelets, since they are both helpful and aesthetic!
4. Moisturizer! When skin is moisturized, it becomes soft and unsatisfying to pick at. This will also help heal old problem spots (do not put in open wounds).
5. Positive Self Affirmation! I cannot stress this one enough. Skin Picking can get better, do not lose hope! Even larger and deeper wounds will heal. There is nothing wrong with your scars, they are a sign you have let that spot heal. If you’re bothered by them there are plenty of options from creams to lasers. You are not alone! Celebrate those little victories!
With the greatest love, from a longtime OCD and Dermatillomania sufferer. I hope this helps someone out there!

CORE FEARS IN #OCD
Tumblr media
OCD is never just about OCD. It’s often about what’s underneath the obsession. What are we really afraid of? When you look underneath the obsession, you often find the core fear, the thing that you were afraid will happen if your obsessions come true. Meaning, we’re not really running from our obsessions we’re running from what it might mean for us. With OCD attacking the things we care about and love the most, it makes sense that it would use our core fears to make us believe they are possible of coming true. However, I find it quite interesting that in order to beat us OCD has to come up with a wild obsession. Something we’ve never thought about before, or ever really cared about before OCD latched onto it to make us feel afraid. I find knowing the core fear helpful because it starts to pull off the disguise OCD is using to keep us engaged. Once we know it can become easier to recognize the true reason we’re scared! I don't know who needs to hear this but...
Tumblr is NOT a place to talk about being a pedophile. No, I do not believe that you should be murdered on-site, but I believe that you should go to therapy. Sure, you can't change your orientation, but you need to learn how to control your urges. You don't have to be offending, if you watch child porn, you are contributing to a constant cycle of sexual abuse and child torment. No, you should not see Tumblr and other pedophiles as safe places, you should see therapy as a safe space. Seriously, you need to get help. I've got POCD, which means that I have a FEAR of being a pedophile, and it's fucking TOUGH to see people on Tumblr acting like it's not big deal to post about it. It's seriously triggering, and I don't want to hear the excuse of "then don't look". People are looking. It is everywhere that this "community" exists. How about the people who were sexually abused as a child? I don't give a fuck if you're a NOMAP, you are contributing to the problem if you are posting about it, acting like everyone else is in the wrong. Get help, it's not okay.

#stepgrandma got sarah bear a big kit of mini #playdough for her #3rdbirthday 💜. Sarah loved this of course because playdough is life. Something she did was organize all of them by color. As a parent diagnosed with #obsessivecompulsivedisorder ; I wonder if this is something my child is inheriting? She shows characteristics of #neurodivergency . I went my whole life till 30 unofficially diagnosed. I want to support her, help her, and encourage her unique being. So at #3yearsold , is #OCD something to look at medically or just grow with her development right now? #ocdawareness #ocdsupport #ocddisorder #ocddiagnosed #ocdhelp #ocdlife #anxiety #panicdisorder #ocdstimulans #ocdtics #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #obsessivecompulsive (at Willow Glen, San Jose, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUrIaeeL01r/?utm_medium=tumblr
