You and Mingyu first met when you were kids. Coming from rich families, you went to the same private school. And to be honest, you really hated him back then.
When you were teenagers, Mingyu was really popular. He was good-looking and smart, being one of the top students of the school. All the girls had a crush on him, even if he was mean to them.
He had always been self absorbed and rude to everyone. Especially to you, and you had no clue why.
You were the quiet, nerdy type. You kept it to yourself, being too focused on your grades and on getting into a good university. Plus, you were basically the only one who didn’t think he was hot shit — but, of course, you’d never say it out loud.
Both of you got into Business School, so you never really got rid of him. His annoying personality only got worse, making you his personal laughing stock.
It worsened when your families merged companies. Coming from the food and beverage industry, and being good friends, it felt natural to merge companies and create an empire bigger than it was before. And, of course, that union had to be sealed with the marriage of the heirs.
When your parents told you, you had a nervous breakdown. They didn’t understand why, labeling you as dramatic. Of course they wouldn’t get it, Mingyu posed as polite and respectful in front of them. But you knew better.
That’s how you ended up getting married to the man you despised. Needless to say, it was the worst day of your life.
Now, three years later, you’re still trapped in a marriage that feels more like a prison. You sleep in separate rooms and on the daily basis, you and Mingyu never really talk, unless it’s a work matter.
Also, you have a terrible sex life. You can count on a hand the amount of times the two of you did it. Yes, you are physically attracted to Mingyu. He has great abs and a big dick, plus delicious big arms and a toned chest. The few times you fucked, you were both tipsy and had had a fight before going out to some company party. It was always angry sex, and you never talked about it the morning after.
With your 4th anniversary approaching, people started asking when are you going to have kids. You dreaded this moment, but it seemed like you couldn’t scape it anymore. It got you thinking about your “marriage”, about how you wished things would change and how you wished Mingyu was a good husband.
As you do your makeup for the company dinner you have tonight, you try to be mentally prepared to be questioned, once again, about your pregnancy plans.
"Hurry up, we’re going to be late" Mingyu says outside your room. You finish putting on lipstick and grab your purse.
You find him waiting on the couch, looking really handsome in his all black tuxedo. His eyes scan you head to toe. His face remains emotionless, but you notice his eyes lingering a bit too long on your wine colored lips and modest cleavage.
"Let’s go."
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.・。.・゜✭・
The music is a bit loud, so you have to stay all the way across the room to chat properly with other people.
You are stuck talking to Mingyu’s friends’ wives. It’s not that you don’t like them, because you do, but the topic of the conversation is not something you want to discuss.
"Cheollie’s been so good to me since I told him I’m pregnant" Gwen says while smiling fondly at her husband, who's across the room. "I mean, he’s always been sweet, but now he’s so much more protective and loving…"
"Wonwoo was like that too" Claire comments. "And he’s just the perfect father. Always wanting to help me out. And he won’t admit, but he loves to prepare Yeji’s lunchbox." The other women coo, finding it adorable. But you feel your face twist into a sad expression.
You knew all of them were in an arranged marriage just like yours. How on earth you were the only one who got unlucky?
"What about you and Mingyu?" Mona, Jeonghan’s wife, asks you. "Are you planning to get pregnant soon?"
You take a sip of your gin and tonic, trying to come up with an answer. They all look at you expectantly, and you don’t have the guts to let them down.
"Oh, definitely! We’re trying" you lie. The other women cheer excitedly.
"You’re gonna have the cutest babies!" Claire says.
"Oh that’s for sure. And y/n will be the prettiest mamma ever!" Gwen gushes.
You start to feel bad about lying, so you finish your drink and walk away to grab another.
As you wait, you see Mingyu chatting and laughing with his friends. And it makes you kinda mad that he’s having fun, and you’re not. When you look back at where the other wives are, you see them caressing Gwen’s pregnant belly and you decide you’ve had enough. You walk over to Mingyu, his smile fading the second he spots you.
"What?" he asks in a harsh tone, left eyebrow raising.
"I wanna go home, I’m not feeling well" you say the first excuse that comes to mind.
"Are you for real?" Mingyu seems so annoyed. Seungcheol nudges him, letting out a quiet ‘bro’. Mingyu sighs. "Ok, whatever."
The ride home is tense. Mingyu was holding back so he wouldn’t make a scene in front of the driver, but as soon as you’re alone in your living room, he couldn’t hold his tongue anymore.
"Why do you always have to ruin the night? Honestly, Y/N, you’re so fucking annoying!" he spits out.
You roll your eyes, deciding not to take shit from him. "I was bored and wanted to come home. You could’ve stayed."
"No, I couldn’t. That would make me look bad."
Usually, you wouldn’t say what you wanted. You’d just ignore and go to your room. But today, after a few drinks, and having to hear for hours on end about how your friends’ husbands were amazing, you felt fed up with Mingyu’s bullshit.
"Maybe you should worry more about being a good husband than about faking it." you point out while taking off your heels.
"Excuse me?" his nostrils flare, signaling how angry he was.
You just shrug, not giving a fuck if he was mad. "It is what it is, Mingyu. You don’t even try to be nice to me, but you worry so damn much about how you’re perceived by others." By now, your purse was thrown on the nearest chair and you’re shouting at him. "I’m done trying to be nice, and I think we reached a point where we should get a divorce and move on. Our marriage is a sham and I’m so fucking done with you."
The man chuckles as his tongue pokes his inner cheek. He looks really annoyed. Mingyu sighs and empties his pockets, putting his stuff in a bowl on the small wooden counter.
You feel livid and his lack of response keeps your mouth running. "What’s so funny?"
"Nothing, just the fact that you think that this shitty situation is all on me." He rises his eyebrows. "Get over yourself, Y/N. None of us is willing to take the first step, that’s why our marriage is a shit show." Mingyu turns around and heads out to his room, but the next thing you say stops him dead in his tracks.
"Why aren't you willing to take the first step? What have I done that is so bad that you can't even be my friend?" A few tears escaped your eyes, but you were quick to wipe them away. "Does hurting me make you feel good or something?"
He had to give it to you. You are being really brave, questioning him and talking back.
The small bar cart catches his eyes and he decides that if you're finally having that conversation — one you should've had years ago —, he needs a drink to get through it. The room is filled with the sound of whiskey being poured. Mingyu takes a long sip, almost downing down the whole liquid, and refills his cup.
If he were to be completely honest, he would say he didn't even know why he hated you. He just did. Nowadays, he didn't mind your presence for the most part. However, when you hit his nerves, he wanted you gone. "Hating you is as natural as breathing for me. It's always been like this, why change it?"
"So we can, at least, coexist in peace? Have some fun, even? I'm not asking you to be husband of the year, but could try to be an ok one." You say with a tired tone, the whole situation already taking it's toll on you. Copying his actions, you poured some of the amber liquid for yourself. "You can get some tips from your friends. They're nice to their wives."
Mingyu snorts. "Yeah sure, if you're going to learn from your friends how to be a good wife…"
"I'm willing to try, Mingyu. But I'm not doing this on my own."
You both calmed down quickly, the heated beginning reduced to a low toned conversation. You’re impressed with how well things are going, considering the two of you usually shout and exchange offenses until someone walks away.
"We can try." His voice is quiet. Mingyu's staring at you, his eyes filled with undertones you don't comprehend yet. His moist lips are caught between his teeth. Shaking his head, he places the empty cup on the cart. "This is funny, you know."
"What?"
You can see he's conflicted between saying what's on his mind and keeping his mouth shut. "You can tell me, since we're being honest." You encourage him.
He looks you deeply in the eyes and says "We just called a truce like two minutes ago and now my mind keeps whispering that if we were a real couple, this would be the moment to kiss and make up."
Your mouth gapes in shock. The few times you had sex before, you hadn’t kissed. Mingyu would fuck you from behind, fast, hard and with a lot of pent up anger. And that was it. So you were caught off guard by his words. Seeing your expression, Mingyu quickly added: "The alcohol got to my head, pretend I never said anything."
Before he can try to leave again, you grab his bicep. "I hate to admit it, but you kind of have a point…"
Both of you start to feel this weird heat spreading under your skins. You sigh deeply. It’s weird you know precisely what’s underneath those black clothes. Mainly because you feel like you’re going to have sex him with for the first time.
"Want me to fuck you senseless until we spend all our anger and then we can start over?" He offers with a crooked smile you never saw before.
You feel slick pooling in your panties, your body already reacting to his filthy mouth. This flirty, sexy side of Mingyu is new to you, but you’re already loving it.
"Are you for real?"
Mingyu towers over you, making you step back until you reach the nearest wall. "Do I look like I'm messing around? Do I look like I won't fuck you until we both forget we hated each other in the first place?"
His serious eyes and deep voice make you sigh and bite your lower lip, fully invested in him. He reaches out and caresses your cheek before pulling you in for a kiss.
You both moan at the contact. His tongue dominates yours in a second, imposing a fast rhythm. Your core twists, tingling in a way that nearly hurts. Mingyu grunts when you close your arms around his neck and pulls gently at his hair.
The room temperature rises, leaving you both hot and bothered when you break the kiss. "Go to your room." Mingyu instructs and you comply. The walk is torturous, with shaky legs and your skimpy lacy panties sticking to your folds.
You’re shaking a little when you sit down on your bed. The night went from 0 to a 100 in minutes and you honestly don’t even want to think much about it for now.
"Can I come in?" Mingyu asks on the other side of the door, knocking lightly on the wood.
"Yeah, sure."
Mingyu took off his blazer and necktie, and the first buttons of his shirt are open, revealing his toned chest. Once again, you evaluate his beefy body proportions and purr quietly. Gosh, he’s hot!you think.
The hunky man looks around, analyzing the stuff you have in your room. You realize it’s the first time he enters it. "Do you want to keep going?"
Your eyes meet his and, for the first time ever, you see he’s actually worried about you. You limit yourself to nodding. "I’m gonna need you to say it, Y/N."
"Yes. Please get over here." You plea. Mingyu groans and crosses the room. His pants feel tight and uncomfortable, his cock pulsating with each step.
He gets on top of you, bunching your dress up on your waist. "Fuck…" he hisses when he sees your panties. You feel him caressing your clit over the lace and hold back a moan.
Mingyu moves the fabric to the side, easily sliding his fingers through your dripping cunt. "So fucking wet and I barely touched you. Do you get off on fighting with me?"
Your face grows hot, but you’re not sure if it’s because of his words or actions. He teases your hole, prodding a finger in your entrance. All air leaves your lungs. You let out a whimper, which makes Mingyu chuckle.
"So responsive." He removes his hand, his eyes searching for yours again. "If I knew you’re such a horny slut, I would’ve done this a long time ago."
"Shut up." You sass, your heart pounding in your chest. "Just shut up and actually do something."
"You better watch your fucking mouth." He manhandles you until you’re laying on your stomach. He moves you on his lap and uncovers your ass.
To your surprise, he slaps your right butt cheek. You yelp, feeling your blood pumping quickly through your body. He repeats his action, this time with more intensity.
"Cat got your tongue?" He mocks when you stay silent. Truth is, you’re clamping your lips together so you don’t moan. "You’re soaking through your panties… Is spanking one of your kinks?"
Mingyu gives you another sharp slap, but this time he massages your flash to soften the blow.
"One more." Your voice sounds croaky as you speak.
"As you wish." He complies to your request, giving you the sharpest spank so far. You whimper and Mingyu smiles, pleased with himself.
Taking advantage of your position, he slides your panties off and pulls down the zipper of your dress. With his help, you undress.
You’re laying naked on his lap and just the sight of your bare back and red ass makes the blood in Mingyu’s body flow directly to his cock. He sighs and separate your legs just enough to touch your naked pussy again.
"Mingyu please." You cry out loud, needing him to slip his fingers in your hole.
"Please what?" He plays dumb and you feel the smirk on his voice. "I don’t know what you want, you’re gonna have to say it."
You sob in frustration. "Did you really think I was going to make things easy for you?" Mingyu’s hand ghosts over your body, giving you goosebumps from the heat he irradiates. "I hate you, remember?"
This is absolute torture. Your body is boiling with desire and need, you skin nearly burning up. Mingyu traces your tights, his soft touch giving you goosebumps. "Finger me. Please, I really need it. Please please please." You beg and Mingyu chuckles again, amuzed by your desperate tone.
He parts your legs a bit as his big hands trail the path from the back of your tights to your folds. You feel one of his fingers tease your dripping hole and you clench around nothing.
You’re so wet that his two fingers slide easily into you. Your inner walls clamp down on his digits and he groans. "You’re so tight, Y/N. Can’t wait to feel you on my dick again."
Mingyu begins to finger fuck you with a lazy pace, pulling out completely just to push back in at once. Your head feels cottony, like your brain weights nothing. Out of instinct, you bite your own hand to keep your moans from falling off your lips. Your hips move with a mind of its own, pushing back to meet Mingyu’s movements. Soon enough he hits that gummy spot inside you that makes you shiver. He notices you’re close to your climax, so, out of spite, he stops his stimulation.
"Why?" you cry out, tears accumulating in your eyes. "I was so close!"
"Because it’s fun" he laughs while stroking your ass tenderly. "Be good, lay down and spread your legs for me so I can make you cum."
Your limbs feel like jelly when you scramble around to get on your back. Mingyu gets up and pushes his dress pants down along with his black boxers. His cock stand hard and proud, the red tip glossed with pre cum. You muster the strength to get on your knees and approach him, your hands grabbing his shirt to start unbuttoning it.
You work your way up his body, taking each button out of its house. When you take the last one out, your caress his big chest, feeling his strong muscles under your sweaty palms. You smooth your way up to his shoulders and push his shirt down. He’s finally naked in front of you, in all his glory.
You trail his arms and abs, all the way down to his rock hard cock. When you wrap your hands around him, Mingyu lets out a sigh of relief. You stroke him slowly while savoring his low, deep grunts in your ear. Soon enough, you quicken your pace. Meanwhile, all you can think about is his cock splitting you open and you feel yourself getting wetter.
"Tha-that’s enough." He reaches for your wrist to stop you after a couple minutes.
Surprisingly, he pulls you in for another kiss. This time, it’s a slow, passionate one. Without separating your lips, he leads you to lay down again. The new position makes Mingyu’s hips align with yours, and you start rutting each other like animals on heat.
"Seeing you between my legs is so hot." you confess when you part the kiss to breathe. "But it could be better."
"Yeah? How so?" Mingyu pokes his cheek with his tongue, his confidence unwavering.
You bite your lower lips for a second. "You’ll look hotter inside me, dear husband."
His smile falters, his eyes turning darker and darker with desire. You know you said just the right thing to spur him on.
"I’d hold onto something if I were you."
You decide to ground yourself by hugging him. Without hesitation, Mingyu pushes in in one quick, firm trust. He’s swallowed in by your warm, soft walls. You see when his eyes roll back in pleasure, and his reaction boosts your confidence through the roof. On the other hand, his big cock splitting you open twists and tightens the knot on your core even more. You know it won’t require much effort for you to cum.
"Please move" you whim and kiss his lips softly. "I need you to move."
Mingyu gives in and imposes a fast, rough pace. You sink your nails on his back, trying to keep yourself from moving too much. He slides in and out of you deliciously, reaching all the right places. You moan loudly on his ear, and he huffs and puffs on yours. The loud sounds of skin slapping, added with the wet noises coming from your wetness, teleport both of you to a world of your own. A world where the only thing that matters is Mingyu’s rough thrusts and the way your insides mold perfectly to accommodate his dick.
After what it feels like forever, Mingyu folds your legs to your chest, and the position makes him reach new places inside of you. It’s when he starts rubbing circles on your clit that you feel on the verge of frenzy. "I’m almost there." You announce.
His hips redouble efforts, and within a few seconds, and a chant of "cum for me, dear wife" your mind turns blank and your soul is lifted off of your body.
You nearly pass out, all the stimulation being too much for you. Seeing you so blissed out pushes Mingyu over the edge before he has the chance to pull out. He grunts as he covers your walls with his warm milk. Your arms fall limp on his back, and Mingyu’s strength also falters, making him drop his weight on top of you.
He rubs his nose on your neck in an affectionate gesture. You smooth your hands on his back in a retributive way. The two of you stay silent for a while, enjoying the proximity and giving yourselves time to come back down.
When Mingyu slips out of you, a stream of white floods out of your messed up hole.
"Fuck, I should’ve pulled out." Mingyu searches for your eyes, his brown orbs filled with worry. You smile softly at him.
"It’s ok, I don’t mind." You reassure him. "Just help me clean up, yeah?"
Mingyu gets up immediately and enters your en suite. He comes back a minute later with a wet cloth in hand.
"You ok?" He asks while cautiously rubbing it against your sensitive cunt.
"I’ll probably limp tomorrow, but I guess that’s the downside of fucking your hater, right?" You joke and he chuckles while shaking his head.
"Well, I guess we’re sort of friends now."
"Yes, definitely." You agree.
He discards the towel and lays back next to you. You’re under the sheets now, and your body feels completely spent. "You’re not going to sleep, are you?"
You nod, feeling your heavy lids take the best of you. "I sure am."
Mingyu gets on top of you again, and hold your chin to make you look at him. "I’ll give you 30 minutes to recover, dear wife." The stupid nickname rolls out of his tongue with an almost tender laugh.
"I thought you were fucking me until we spent all of our anger." you state, struggling to keep your eyes open. "I don’t feel angry anymore."
"I do." His eyes hold mysteries you’re yet to discover. "I’m not done hating you yet."
His low deep voice stirs your insides. You sigh, feeling your heartbeat increase again. "30 minutes and you can hate me all you want."
"Deal." He presses a kiss to your lips and goes back to the empty side of the bed.
You feel him scrambling around looking for the TV remote control. As you let your tiredness get the best of you, all you can think about is that you’re going to fight with everything that you have to make things work out between the two of you.

Lollipops and cigarettes
Pairing: Mattheo Riddle x reader
Content tags: established friends, slytherin!reader, no angst (i deserve a medal for this lmao)
Warning: mentions of drugs, suggestive content but no smut, just heavy foreplay
Prompt: "I know I signed up for this and all, but... if I die, it's still your fault and I will not hold back on blaming you." (source)
Summary: Mattheo thinks it‘s fun to explore the Forbidden Forest in the middle of the night
A/N: boy, the way I hop from one Riddle to another - i can fix him ykyk ok but these are shorter than other fics since theyre part of the prompt thingy I’m doing and I figured I should get started
Word count: 1.9k
Tumblr media
You would kill him - you will kill him - if whatever is in here doesn’t kill you first and then you’ll kill yourself for letting him persuade you in the first place.
Mattheo disregarded many things, like his school work, attendance, relationships but you gotta leave it to him - he knew how to push your buttons and when he said he’d take Amara from the year below with him if you weren’t joining him, you snapped and agreed - looking at nothing but pitch blackness and the occasional rustle - that always scared the living shits out of you - you thought to yourself, he should’ve taken her.
You weren’t the type to get frightened easily but the eerie dread that filled you once you were so deep in you couldn’t even see Hogwarts anymore it was over and you almost jumped at every sound, your hand subconsciously reaching out for Mattheo only for him to give you the most shit-eating grin and tease your anxious behavior - Salazar knows why you like this idiot in the first place.
The unsteady path shaped by the trees seemed never ending and incredibly unnerving, even if you tried to see the end it was just pitch black.
“Come on, princess, ”, he pokes your side with his elbow and nudges his head forward, “who knows what’s waiting for us out there.”, he smirks and you scoff loudly and hit him, resulting in the leaves rustling in the trees and crows suddenly emerging with loud ‘craws’ and you almost shit yourself.
Subconsciously you hold on tighter to him to the point your chest touches his arm.
“I hate you, by Merlin’s beard, fuck you, Riddle.”, you whisper-shout into his ear; his head turns towards yours in a matter of a second, your face was already so close to his, your noses brushed together when he turned; you could feel his breath tingling on your lips.
Shivers ran down your spine - you were used to the tension that followed almost every interaction you had with Mattheo but this? This was on a different level - the both of you were alone in the woods, your body clinging to him and now you just had to move forward, not even two inches and you’d finally know how his lips taste - you bet like a mixture of lollipops and cigarettes.
He smirks and you could feel the ghost of his touch on your lips - you will breach the distance between you guys if he isn’t going to do it.
His hand reaches out for your hair and brushes a piece of it back behind your ear and you’re finally able to make out the shadows on his face, like his scar on his nose, or the scar on his right eyebrow, from the small light of the moonshine seeping through the branches of the tree and your breath hitches - he was smiling.
You knew you liked him and you knew how it felt to like someone but nothing could’ve prepared you for the way his smile accompanied by the soft glow of the moon on his face would make your insides explode; make you feel so warm - the former coldness of the forbidden forest long forgotten.
“Fuck me yourself, babe.”, he grins and the almost fairy tale-like illusion you just created in your head shattered - this is Mattheo fucking Riddle, by Salazar you still don’t know why you like him, of course he’d make a dirty jab at you.
You were about to roll your eyes and push him away but you had a better idea in your head; your hands reach for his jawline and you start to trace it, his small beard stubbles scratching your fingertips and you can see the way he gulps hard by his adams apple - his jaw clenched but a curious glint in his eyes - what are you doing? Your fingers start to trace the way down to his neck, followed by his collarbone towards his chest and abs until your fingers stop at his waistband; his eyes follow your touch in anticipation and curiosity but he hasn’t dared to utter a single word. You tug him closer towards you by his waistband and you reached up until your lips ghosted over his neck - right above the spot most girls would leave their hickeys on, you assumed it was his most sensitive spot; a few seconds later you make your way back to his ear, your lips graze his earlobe and you can hear his breath hitch and you smile: “Don’t mind if I do.”
He sucks in a deep breathe and gives you a warning glance: “Fuck, princess, unless you actually plan to follow up with that, don’t tease me like that.”
“Why not?”, you smile knowingly, Riddle might not be interested in romantic relationships but you knew the effect you could have on a man.
“I don’t think you want me to leave you alone right here because I have a hard business to take care of”, he glances down towards the dent on his crotch, your hand was still on his waistband and you let out a small giggle, “do you?”
“Let me take care of it, then?”, you give him your best doe eyes while your hands slowly pull on his waistband and you can almost see him come undone at the mere idea of you touching him - it made you feel powerful, hopeful and needy for him.
“Princess,”, his eyes darkened, he seemed to finally snap out of his trance and before you know it your back was pushed against a tree, Mattheo’s arms were wrapped around your waist and his forehead was leaning against yours, he was breathing heavily, as if he could barely contain himself - he looked at you like a starved prisoner, ready to finally devour you after he’s been denied for so long and god did it turn you on.
“Tell me off.”, he whispers against your lips, you start to wonder if you have to beg him to kiss you and you shake your head.
“Kiss me, Riddle.”
His lips immediately meet yours and you close your eyes leaning closer into him, wrapping your arms around his neck while he pulls you even closer by your waist. Earlier he looked like he could devour you and right now, he is, his one arm went up to your head and he started to slightly tug at your hair, not hard enough for it to hurt but hard enough to make your head go back and for you to let out an involuntary moan.
“Fuck, you’re so hot.”, he breathes against the outer corner of your mouth and starts leaving sloppy kisses there as well.
His hands roam around your entire body until they find the back of your thighs and he starts to knead them slowly and you let out a small gasp at the sudden sensation of his big hands around your thighs, you were growing hotter and hotter, you wanted - scratch that- you needed this man, the tension in your core only growing stronger.
He lifts you up by your thighs, his lips never leaving your body, it felt he like was trying to engrave this feeling into his mind, and leans you against the wall, your crotch is right against his, your needy core almost immediately starts to rub against his hardened member and you let out a whimper.
He gently bites you in the neck and licks your most sensitive spot and you moan out his name.
“Baby”, he groans, “moan my name again”, his hands meet your ass and he gives it a firm squeeze and you moan out his name once more.
Just when he started to take off his shirt an alarm went off and you opened your eyes hazily.
“Fuck”, Mattheo curses and immediately puts his sweatshirt back on.
You have to take a deep breath to get back from the high you just felt and you give Mattheo a concerned look and breathily say: “What’s wrong?”
“Theo texted, there’s an emergency and they’re gathering all the students in the great hall.”, he bites his lips and you can’t help but almost completely disregard what he’s currently saying and only want to feel his lips on yours again.
“You’re staring.”
“Can’t blame me.”
He chuckles: “Now, princess”, he grabs your hand and starts pulling you back to where you had come from, “we gotta hurry before we get into big trouble for sneaking out.”, he gives you one last glance, and the current situation finally seems to dawn onto you and you start to freak out.
“Salazar, fuck, Mattheo, we’re so going to get a whole year of detention if they catch us.”, you bite your lip, the anxiety finally overshadowing your horny mind and you both hurry back to Hogwarts.
Out of breath you finally are inside the castle, skillfully evading any teachers or prefects and you can’t help but curse at him, the anxiety taking over - what if you’re too late?
"I know I signed up for this and all, but... if I die, it's still your fault and I will not hold back on blaming you."
“Nobody is going to kill you.”, he chuckles.
You roll your eyes: “Clearly, you haven’t met my mother.”
“I’ll just swoon her off her feet, too.”, he smirks and you pretend to gag at him.
He checks his phone: “We’re fine, Theo says, they’re still gathering all the students.”
You sigh in relief: “Theo deserves the greatest head for warning us like this.”
He turns around to face you, almost as if you’re insane, like he can’t believe your audacity, his jaw clenched: “Do I need to remind you of who’s name you moaned 30 minutes ago?”
Your eyes narrow in confusion until you finally get it and you can’t help but smirk: “I meant a joint.”
“Oh.”, he looked dumbfounded.
“You jealous, baby?”
The both of you arrive at the Great Hall and before you can enter Mattheo grabs your arm and halts you from entering.
You stare at him confused and expectantly.
“This is more than just sex to me, princess.”, he looks at you, his eyes filled with so much vulnerability you soften at his words and your inside starts to fill with joy, you had hoped this is how it would be between you guys, even if you had been fine with just staying friends as well.
“I feel the same”, you smile at him and squeeze his hand.
He smiles back and you make your way into the Great Hall, the both of you skillfully and undetected make your way to your friends and stand next to them.
When they spot you they greet you with laughter and smiles, Theo winked at the both of you and all of you waited for the roll call, all while your hand never left Mattheos grasp.
“Y’know we’ll continue later, right?”, he whispers in your ear and when you turn around you’re met with his smug grin and the brightest shining eyes in the room and you smile feeling absolutely content and you can’t wait to taste the taste of lollipops and cigarettes again.

So Many Reasons - Ollie Bearman
Words: 3,343 Summary: She honestly just wants to go to these two races to see her brother so he won’t complain about never seeing her anymore that is it. She has exams, an internship, and a job, she doesn’t have time for any of this. Note(s): Thank you V once again for commissioning the fic! I had a lot of fun writing it and may or may not have spent an hour researching different business degrees and universities and such. Reader is Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s older sister. Age gap of 3 years between her and Ollie. Not good family dynamics between her and Kimi and their father.

“Andrea, no.” Her voice is firm, perhaps harsh but she doesn’t care. She was tired, hungry, and had to stay up for at least another six hours. Her last red bull in her bag sounded better every second. “C’mon, sorella. It is my first F2 race. You can miss a few classes.” Her jaw clenches and she forces herself to take a deep breath. Thank god this was just a phone call. “No, Andrea. I can’t. I have exams.” “Ask for an extension.” “Andrea,” she snaps. “Does padre know you are asking me this?” His voice is quiet, “no.” She sighs, pushing away her work. “How is your school work going?” “It’s fine.” “And the sim?” “Good.”
It’s quiet between the two siblings.
“It’s been months since we last saw each other. Do you not miss me?” “We saw each other at Christmas.” She reminds him but softens. “Of course I do. But I’m busy. I can’t take a few days away to go to a race, at least not one that’s not in Europe.” She looks at her planner, at the days blocked out with different colors. Purple for exams, blue for classes, yellow for work, green for work and classes, the dreaded orange for when she had both exams and work. It was filled for days, weeks, and months. “I could maybe make it for Imola.” She’d have to talk to her professors, put in her time now for work, but she didn’t have any exams the day after his feature race. “Maybe even Monaco if you can get me a spare pass.” She shouldn’t go to Monaco, not with her final exams to obtain her MBA starting just the day after the race, but she didn’t have any work those days and she could always bring her books with her. “Really?” She smiles at the excitement in his voice. “Really. Are you sure you want your big sister around?” “Yes. It will be nice to have family in the paddock. Someone other than dad.” She hums, eyes widening as they catch the time. “Let me know about the passes for the different races, okay? As soon as you get them I’ll talk to my professors.” “I will.” “Bye Andrea.” “Bye.”
“Mr. Garcia?” She knocks on the door frame. “You asked to see me?” He smiles, beckoning her in. “Yes. Please sit.” He gestures at the chairs in front of his desk before quickly typing something. She sits down, smoothing the fabric of her skirt. “I wanted to talk to you about your plans after you get your MBA.” “I’d like to get a travel position or be able to work remotely half of the time. Then I think after ten years of doing that, I’d like to take a bigger account or two.” He hums, looking at her consideringly. “Why the travel position?” “I like traveling, going to different places, and when I went once before with Maria, I liked what she had to do.” “You're also good with languages.” “Yes.” “And the hybrid?” She fidgets a little. “The same reasons really as the travel position and I like the extended hours.” His lips twitch into a smile, “Maria hated remote.” She nods.
“She said you’d be suited for it.” Her leg that had started to bounce stops. He leans forward, “I’d like to keep you on. I know that your internship with Maria ends the first week of May. And that you’re only supposed to continue to work with us until August. But I’d like to offer you the remote position, starting June 20th.” She looks at him with a slight open mouth. “What,” she clears her throat. “What exactly would that look like?” He pushes forward a folder. “All of the details are in there, but there are two important things. There will only be a few days every month that require you in the office. Those days are always made known at least two weeks in advance, some as much as six months.” She nods. “The second is you will have strict deadlines. Miss two within a three month period and you will be on probation, meaning that for a time you will be spending at least eighty hours in office for the month, until your probation is up. Look over all the details and get back to me next week.” “Of course.” Taking the folder, she stares at it before standing. “Thank you, Mr. Garcia.” “Of course, Ms. Antonelli.”
“Andrea!” She calls, seeing him looking around. His head turns to look at her, a large grin taking over his face. “Sorella!” He calls, jogging over to her. “You made it.” She rolls her eyes, pushing him away when he tries to give her a hug. “I told you two weeks ago I’d make it to Imola. It’s not my fault, you don’t listen.” She touches her ears before giving him a quick hug. “How are you feeling?” “Good.” She hums, following him as he leads her to what she assumes is Prema’s space for this race.
The good was false that was more than clear to see, if she wasn’t his sister, she’d know just by looking at the F2 races so far. Round four with no podiums? Or pole position. Her brother was surely smarting. She wondered if it had hit him yet that he wasn’t the most talented driver in this series yet.
Entering the Prema garage she smiles when Rene immediately greets her.
“How are you?” “I’m good. Very good. How are you? How is Angelina?” “I am good, I’m sure you saw the Indycar news.” She nods, watching as Andrea starts talking to either a mechanic or an engineer. “I did. It sounds amazing.” “Very amazing. And Angelina, well,” He pauses, turning his head and calling her over.
“Oh, Y/N.” “Angelina.” She greets back, melting into the hug the older woman gives. “How are you doing?” “I’m doing good. And you are well?” “Of course, it is the season.” She smiles at her, knowing all too well how much everyone loved the motorsport season.
“Kimi!” Angelina calls and she has to stop herself from flinching at the use of his nickname. “You did not tell me that your sister was coming.” He shrugs, “She’s coming next race as well.” “You are coming to Monaco?” She shrugs, adjusting her purse. “It’s my last free time before my exams and Andrea asked when I was going to come.” Rene and Angelina share a look but before either can say anything, someone interrupts.
“Angelina, Dino and Antonio are wondering about the next shoot.” The older woman sighs, “And neither of them could get me themselves.” He shoots her a grin, and it’s the sight of his grin that makes her realize that this is Andrea’s teammate. “I volunteered.” Angelina shakes her head, muttering under her breath but leaves the small group.
“Ah, Ollie, this Y/N. Y/N, this is Ollie.” Rene introduces. She shakes his hand. “Nice to meet you.” “You as well. Are you new to the team?” “No.” She laughs, pulling her hand from his. “Just a guest for this race and next.” “Oh.” He looks at Rene questioningly, but the older man is already in conversation with other people. “I could give you a tour, if you’d like.” “You don’t need to do that.” He smiles, giving a small shrug with his shoulders. “I don’t mind.” “Don’t you have race prep?” She can see just behind him, Andrea talking to another two people, their heads all gathered around a tablet. “I finished mine already.” Her lips purse. “At least let me get you a coffee from Ferrari’s hospitality.” Her nose nearly wrinkles at the word coffee, but Ferrari… She wasn’t into motorsports by choice, but she was Italian. She knew the allure of Ferrari and more so now Charles Leclerc than the team itself better than anyone. “So, coffee?” He grins. She sighs but nods. “Just one though.” She doesn’t think she could stomach another one.
“You don’t like coffee do you?” He asks nearly twenty minutes later as she sips at the coffee he got her and she chooses not to think too hard about the money she tried to hand him that he refused. “No.” She laughs. “But you like Ferrari.” “I’m Italian, Ollie. I think I get kicked out of the country, especially this part if I don’t bleed rosso corsa.” “Yet your brother is a Mercedes junior.” She pauses, “My brother?” His eyebrows furrow. “I’m sorry, it’s just Kimi, he has a picture of you. I asked about it once, because I already knew what his girlfriend looked like.” “I didn’t know that.” She wondered when the picture was from. Not from this Christmas, that was for sure. Ollie stares at her for a few seconds, something dancing in his eyes before turning the conversation back around. “It is a bit funny isn’t it? An Italian choosing Mercedes, while an Englishman chooses Ferrari.” “A second Charles Leclerc in the making.” She muses, remembering an article that said it. He flushes red. “I wouldn’t say that.” She shrugs, “Then other people will for you.”
Her phone buzzing makes her look away and she rolls her eyes at the text from Andrea. “I have to go back, Andrea is looking for me. Thank you for the coffee.” He nods, standing with her. “No problem.” He then opens his mouth again, quickly closing it. She raises an eyebrow and he flushes a bit more. “Could I get your number?” “Ah.” She glances down at her phone, another text on the screen. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” “Why not?” She can think of a million reasons. “It’s just not a good idea.” She settles on. “What if I want it as a friend?” She sends him a look and he grins. “I could do friends.” She shakes her head, “I need to go. Thank you again.” “Anytime.”
“You're at a race.” “Padre.” She greets, watching the screens as the sprint race goes into its fifth lap. “Andrea asked me to come.” “You don’t like races.” Her lips thin. “No, I don’t. But he wanted to see me, I made time.” “Have you made time for the interview I want scheduled?” “No.” He starts to say her name and she shakes her head. “No, padre. I’m here for Andrea, to see him. Just like I will be for Monaco, that is it. I have no interest in working for you.” “For the family.” “Or that.” He sighs.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she winces at the way Andrea gets overtaken, can already imagine the way he’ll beat himself up over it if he doesn’t regain the position, especially with the way Ollie is in P2, no battle in sight, as he more than comfortably keeps the place.
An arm wraps around her shoulders and she easily goes into her fathers side. “I miss my little girl.” She bites back on the words that want to crawl from her throat. “Love you too.”
“So,” she startles at the sound of a voice and the owner of it grins. “You don’t like coffee.” “Hello, Ollie.” “Hi.” He greets back. “You don’t like coffee.” He repeats. “I don’t like coffee.” She can’t help but smile at the way he grins at her responding to him. “What about,” he pauses looking around, before leaning closer and lowering his voice. “Red bull?” “I’m listening.”
She has to stop herself from giggling as Ollie leads her through Ferrari’s garage. She really shouldn’t be here. And not just because she shouldn’t even be at the race.
Stopping in front of a door, she watches as Ollie knocks, sending her a grin as he does.
“Hello?” The voice is a little confused. “Ollie! Come in, come in.” And Ollie grabs her hand, intertwining their fingers as he pulls her into the room with him. “Hi Charles.” Her eyes widen at the name and she quickly schools her expression though neither are looking at her. “What are you doing here?” Ollie grins at the older man. “I wanted to introduce you to someone and raid your fridge.” Charles rolls his eyes. “At least you don’t ask permission anymore.”
The tease makes her stiffen, this was a lot more than she felt she should be seeing or hearing.
“No, I learned.” Ollie laughs and then he’s tugging her closer. “Charles, this is Y/N.” A bit of tension leaves her when he doesn’t say her last name. “Y/N, this is Charles.” “Bonjour.” She greets, keeping her free hand firmly by her side as she wiggles her fingers in Ollie’s hand, but he just brushes his thumb over her knuckles. Charles’ eyes brighten at the greeting. “Bonjour. Est-ce un accent italien que j'entends?” (“Hello. Is that an Italian accent I hear?”) “Oui. Je suis italienne et je vis actuellement en France.” (“Yes. I am Italian currently living in France.) His grin widens. “Oh, très bien. Votre français est bon.” (“Oh, very nice. Your French is good.”) She ducks her head. “Merci.” (“Thank you.”)
“I didn’t know you spoke French.” Ollie says. She gives him a look. It should make his smile falter a little, but it only grows. “An Italian living in France. A bit uncommon, no?” Charles asks, handing her then Ollie a Red Bull. Before grabbing one for himself. “I study there.” “What are you studying?” Ollie asks, “Ki,” he stops himself. “Andrea never said.” Her eyes narrow at the catch, wondering why exactly he did it. “Accounting. And I’m not surprised. If it’s not something racing related, my brother has no interest.” Charles laughs. “I think Lorenzo and you would get along well. Having siblings that live and breath racing while you don’t.” “Maybe.” “Are you close to getting your degree?” “I am actually. My final exams start Monday.” “And you came to the Monaco Grand Prix?” Charles’ eyes are wide. “Yes.” “My goodness.” He looks at Ollie, winking at him. “This one is a keeper.” “Oh,” she says, feeling blood rush to her cheeks and Ollie is turning pink. “We aren’t.” He shrugs, taking a drink of his red bull. “Maybe not yet.” His eyes then fall to their still intertwined fingers and she gives another tug to Ollie’s hand, expecting him now to let go, but he doesn’t. “No, not yet.”
“What race are you coming to next?” Her hand tingles at the sound of Ollie’s voice. “I’m not.” “What?” She turns to face him. “Andrea wanted me at the first race of the season, but I couldn’t make it, so I said I’d come to these two.” She doesn’t mention that the want of her coming was because he apparently missed her. She had her doubts about that, especially after this weekend. “You don’t think he’ll ask you to come again?” She looks around, seeing no one nearby, she sighs. “Even if he did, I wouldn’t come. I love my brother, but not on race weekends, not during the season. I’ve seen you more than him.” Ollie’s face that had looked shocked, turns to understanding. “I’m sorry. I had no idea.” She shrugs. “He’s busy.” Ollie looks like he wants to argue, but he doesn’t.
Instead he leans a bit closer, “so, could I get your number now?” She laughs, shaking her head. “No. Still not happening.” “Oh, c’mon. I won today. This is the one thing I want as the Monaco F2 feature race winner.” She shakes her head. “Maybe, if you actually wanted it as a friend. I’d say yes.” “And why can’t we be more than friends?” He’s closer now somehow and she has to swallow around the lump in her throat. “Ollie,” Her name spills from his lips in a gentle sigh as he leans ever closer. “We can’t.” She whispers, hand against his chest, holding him place. “Why? Give me one good reason why.”
He’s guiding her backwards, down the short hallway and into a room that’s thankfully empty, the door shutting behind him.
“One good reason.” “You’re Andrea’s teammate.” “For nine more weekends.” She lets out a shaky breath, watching as his tongue darts out to wet his lips. “I’m busy with school and work.” “You have final exams this week, which you’ll pass. And I’m busy with work as well.” “You're younger than me. I’m twenty-two, you just turned nineteen.” He shrugs, her eyes following the strong line of shoulders with the movement. “I’m an adult. And I like you.” “Ollie.” She breathes. He’s closer than ever before, their lips nearly brushing. “I’m still waiting.” Her eyes scan his face, his words full of confidence, his body too, but he’s flushed and his nervousness is easy to read. And she delivers the reason that has to make him see reason. Because she doesn’t know if he stays this close to her if she can stop herself from kissing him. “Your parents,” his throat bobs. “Would never approve.” He looks at her and she looks back, holding her breath, waiting for him to back away but he doesn’t, and god when does Ollie ever do things she expects. “They don’t need to.” He whispers and then he’s kissing her.
“What are you talking about?” “Andrea,” “No.” He stops her, shaking her head. “What do you mean, you are seeing Oliver?” He spits the name out. “Don’t, Andrea.” “NO!” His face is red and she’s reminded of the times when he wanted candy that she had and threw a fit over not getting it instead. “He is, he is,” he shakes his head. “I don’t even know what he is. He is my teammate, he works in motorsports, you hate motorsports.” She keeps quiet, watching as her brother processes the news. “He is younger than you, barely older than me. And you.” He shakes his head again. “Does padre know?” She scoffs, now shaking her head. “Does padre know? That’s all you care about isn’t it. If our father approves or not, if he knows what he thinks, because heaven forbid Kimi,” he flinches at the name. “You think for yourself.” “That is not.” “Don’t.” She cuts him off. “Yes, he knows. Don’t worry he disapproves as well. So, you don’t have to think for yourself again.”
She stares at her younger brother, knowing that this is her fault, but she can’t, she still doesn’t have it in her to deal with it, not today. “I will talk to you sometime, Andrea.”
“Your fans are lovely.” Ollie makes a humming sound, half asleep. She pauses her scrolling on twitter, unable to stop herself from liking the picture of Charles’ dog in his own personal little car. “Your fans. Very creative as well. They can’t call me a gold digger, but a fame seeker? Well, if the shoe fits.” “They what?” He sounds so much more awake, it makes her laugh. “It’s just hate, Ollie. I’m an old woman praying on the young. Apparently I’m like Piquet.” “Ew.” And she can picture his nose wrinkling. “You know you aren’t though right?” “An old woman?” She jokes. “A predator.” She softens, turning in his arms, so that they are chest to chest. “I know.” “I mean, really if anything I was.” “You were very insistent.” He flushes. “Only a little.” She nods, pressing a kiss to his jaw. “Only a little.”
“I know we talked about it before, but are you okay with everything?” “Yes. I mean, it hurts that Andrea is still not okay with it but my father’s opinion has not mattered to me in a long time. And no matter what the media and fans were never going to give us peace, so I made my peace with that as well. Besides, your parents are okay with it.” “They love you.” “Our friends are understanding.” “They are.” “And you aren’t about to dedicate any more podiums to me.” He grins at her and dread starts to form in her stomach. “Ollie…” “About that last one.” “Ollie!”

I made it | Jack Hughes
Tumblr media
Summary: Jack was Lucy’s first love, they dated in high school but broke up when Jack left for the NHL. After a long debate with a certain older Hughes brother, Lucy decided to invite Jack to her broadway debut, but she didn’t expect him to actually show up.
Warnings: cussing
Notes: well I know I said I would work on the Cole story but I’m kinda stuck rn and this idea came to me. It’s a little shorter than I hoped but I think this one may be my favorite. Also italics means it’s a flash back
Tumblr media
Lucy doesn’t even know what she’s doing. She just got the news that she landed her dream role as Elphaba on broadway. Her high school dream just in arms reach. Her thumb floats over his caller id.
Jacky💕
She never had the heart to delete his contact. Not even the guts to change his name. Despite him breaking her heart, he was the one who supported her dreams the most.
It was opening night of her Senior musical. The school musical was Shrek and Lucy was playing Fiona. She kept looking in the crowd, hoping to see a glimpse of her parents, but every time she looked she slowly lost hope. But that dread was quickly replaced with joy as she saw her boyfriend and his family take their seats in the front row. Ellen and Jim were dressed up nice, Jack was dressed nice as well, but his hair definitely shows that he just got out of the shower after practice. Luke on the other hand, let’s just say Lucy was just happy he was there.
At the end of the performance, as she took her bow, Jack was cheering for her so loud that you would have thought he was at a sporting event. Lucy couldn’t help, but blush. Well as much blushing she can do under her green face paint.
Once the curtains close, Lucy rushes out of her costume to see Jack as soon as possible. When she leaves the theater room, she is greeted by Jack holding a bouquet of sunflowers, her favorite flowers.
“You came!!” She pulls Jack into a hug who quickly saved the flowers from being smushed by raising them above his head. He laughs at her excitement.
“Of course I made it.” He kisses her forehead before looking in her eyes, “I’m your number one fan.”
She couldn’t bring herself to call him, but part of her knew she needed to tell someone from that time of her life.
“Hello, who is this?” Of course he didn’t have her number saved.
“This was a bad idea, I shouldn’t have called.” She goes to hang up, but luckily, Quinn recognizes her voice.
“Lucy?! What’s wrong?” She takes a deep breath, before talking to Quinn.
“I’m sorry to bother you Quinn, I just need to tell someone , but I couldn’t bring myself to call him, not after how we left things off.” Lucy holds in her tears.
“Hey you may not be with him anymore, but you are still like a little sister to me.” Quinn’s words brought comfort to Lucy, calming her down. “You can always talk to me.”
One last deep breath, Lucy lets it all go. “Quinn, I’m going to be on broadway.”
“Wait for real!? This is amazing Lulu.”She smiles at the use of the nickname she hasn’t heard for a long time. “What date is opening night, I’ll totally buy a ticket to see it.”
“March 6th, but I already checked your schedule, and you are busy Mr. Captain.” Since this was the first time she talked to Quinn since the break up, it’s the first time she has called him captain. “But it would be knowing someone in the crowd was there for me, besides my brother.”
“You know someone who doesn’t play that day and would drop anything to see you.” She knows exact who she’s talking about.
“No Quinn, I doubt Jack wants to see me after 5 years. He has better things to do.” She still can’t believe it has been this long. “He was the one who broke up with me remember?”
“He misses you Lulu.” She shakes her head in disbelief. She’s seen Jack’s public life, he’s dated other girls, he’s out partying with his friends on the off season, and most importantly he is being successful in the NHL. “You have no idea how many time I’ve been on phone with Jack basically having this exact conversation. Every important game he calls me asking if he should invite you. I always tell him yes, but evidently he never goes through with it.”
“I’ve actually been to a few games believe it or not, last game I went to was the infamous Hughes bowl.” She couldn’t afford the lower bowl seats, but even in the nose bleeds she was supporting Jack, the Hughes brothers.
“Never let Jack know that, he’ll get so upset that you paid to watch him play. Knowing him he would try and figure out how much you spent in total, then would pay you back.” She laughs knowing that would exactly what Jack would do.
“He would also get mad if he knew I bought my own jersey.” She looks over in her closet and sees her number 86 Devils jersey that almost taunts her. “I wear it every game day.”
The two are silent for a little bit before Quinn speaks up. “What if I buy Jack a ticket and send it to him. I won’t tell him about this conversation. He can decide for himself if he goes or not but I can guarantee once he sees that you are performing, he will drop everything to see you.”
“I can’t tell you what to do with your money Quinn , but I can ask that you don’t waste your money.”
“How about this, we make a bet, the Lucy I remember always loved a good bet,” Lucy was very competitive in high school (she still is competitive but she would never tell anyone about that) “If Jack goes, you have to give him another chance . If he doesn’t go, I will never bother you about Jack again.”
“You know what you have a deal.” After making the deal, the two stay on the phone catching up for an hour. They talk about how the team is doing, how Ellen and Jim are and how much they also miss Lucy. They also talked about how Lucy got the role. Overall, Lucy was just glad to talk to one of the Hughes again.
Tumblr media
During his lunch time the next day, Jack got a text from Quinn.
Qball- Don’t fuck it up this time.
There was a link attached. So out of curiosity, Jack opened the link and saw it was a ticket to see Wicked on broadway. He immediately send Quinn a text back questioning what he means.
Qball- Look up the cast idiot.
Jack looks up the cast after he rolls his eyes at his brother. But when he saw Lucy’s name in big letter next to Elphaba, his heart feels like it stopped.
Qball- she wants you to go, but was too scared to ask you herself.
Jack😎- It’s been so long, what would I even say to her when I saw her?
Qball- the truth. You love her Jack and I can’t guarantee she feels the same but she does deserve the closure you never gave her.
Jack😎- after all this time maybe it’s best if I just left her alone.
Qball- I can’t make you go but if you don’t please at least give the ticket to Luke or even mom. Lucy deserves to have someone there to support her.
Jack😎- I’ll think about it, but thanks for letting me know.
Jack let’s put a groan and puts his head down trying to think.
“What’s up with him?” Jack forgot that he was with his team mates but he quite frankly didn’t care. Not even as Luke grabs his phone.
“Oh shit is this for real.” Jack groans again. “Damn dude Lucy looks hot as fuck.”
Jack’s head shoots up and he glares at Luke.
“What, on the cast list there’s a link to her Instagram. And I’m just stating facts look.” Luke hands Jack back his phone and he sees that Luke was right. Lucy had gotten rid of her braces and glasses which he also found adorable, but there was something about her matured look that made Jack awe struck.
“Who’s Lucy?” Nico asks looking over Jack’s shoulder.
“Jack’s high school sweetheart.” Luke says looking Lucy up on Instagram on his own phone. “Jack was an asshole and dumped her when he got drafted. He legit dumped her over text.”
“That was 5 years ago asshole.” Jack mutters
“She’s really talented.” Jack was playing a clip that she posted of her singing and everyone could hear it. “You really fumbled the bag dude.”
“You think she’s single?” John says while Luke showed him pictures of Lucy. “If so you think you could put in a good word for me?”
“Fuck off.” Jack feels himself getting angry but he doesn’t understand why, Lucy was no longer his, and he lost his right to get over protective of her years ago. He storms off out of the living room out to his room m. Luke follows him.
“Come on Jack, you have no right to be upset.” Jack knows Luke is right but he pouts anyways. “So what are you going to do about that ticket?”
“Maybe mom should go, you know how much she misses Lucy.” Jack says looking at a photo that Lucy posted for her birthday. It was a picture of her in high school laughing. Jack was cropped out of the photo but he can still picture the memory in his head.
“Did you not read what Quinn said?” Luk sits down next to Jack. “She wants you there Jack. She wants your support. Don’t you at least think she deserves that?”
“I do support her and she deserves all the support in the world, but she also deserves better than me.” Jack hold back his tears in front of his brother. “I remember the text her brother sent me. The day I broke up with her, I blocked her so I couldn’t see her response. A hour later, Carson texted me telling me that I would never find anyone better than Lucy and that I would have to watch in regret as his big sister became a star. Harshest words I’ve ever heard from an 11 year old.”
Both brothers laugh as the remember Carson, who actually looked up to Jack until the break up. Luke remembers being told to fuck off by the 11 year old, when he tried reaching out to Lucy after the break up.
“I thought in that moment, he was right. I still think he is right, I don’t deserve to walk back into her life now that it’s more convenient for me.” Jack looks at his desk where he keeps a picture of Lucy and his family after her first musical during their freshmen year.
“Yeah maybe you don’t deserve her after what you did, but there is no denying the love you two shared.”Luke puts his hand on Jack’s shoulder before continuing, “I’m not the best at advice so I’m just going to repeat what Quinn said that she deserves closure.”
“I just want her to be happy, Luke.” Jack cries as Luke holds his older brother.
Tumblr media
A few months later and a lot of hard work, it was finally time for opening night. After hours in the makeup chair, Lucy was as ready as she’ll ever be.
As she is waiting to go on she can’t help, but think of Jack.
The two were sitting in Jack’s room as they often did. As long as they had the door open per Ellen’s request. They were watching a movie on Jack’s computer as the cuddled under the sheets.Lucy was able to convince Jack to watch Wizard of oz.
“So you are telling me there is a musical where the pink witch and the evil witch are best friends and it’s about how the evil witch becomes evil?”
“Yes and it’s considered to be one of the greatest musicals of all times.” Lucy turns and faces Jack, “One day, I’ll be that evil witch. Although her name is Elphaba.”
“And I’ll be in the crowd cheering you on.” Jack smiles before kissing her cheek, “plus you’ll be the hottest green chick ever.”
Lucy laughs to herself before it’s show time. She seriously doubted Quinn’s plan, but she wasn’t going to let Jack’s absence ruin her night. Because at the end of the day, her little brother was there and that’s all she needed.
Speaking of Carson, he was sat in the orchestra seating, Lucy wanted to get him front row seats but he knew how die hard wicked fans are so he said he was fine where ever he sat as long as he could see her. Carson also brought his girlfriend who just like Lucy was into Musical theatre. Lucy never told Carson this, but his relationship reminded her so much of hers and Jack’s relationship at their age.
Carson and his girlfriend, Macy, were quietly talking during the intermission when Carson realized who was sat a seat away from Macy.
Jack Hughes.
Carson got silent and Macy noticed as well. Of course Macy knew who Jack Hughes was and she also knew about the ‘asshole nhl player the broke Lucy’s heart.’ And with Jack’s appearance tonight and Carson’s reaction, the girl put one and one together. She grabs onto Carson’s hand to comfort him before the house lights dimmed signaling the end of the intermission.
At the end of the performance, it was time for final bows. When it’s Lucy’s turn to bow the crowd and cast all go wild in applause. Lucy looks for her brother and Macy in the crowd but gasps when she locks eyes with Jack Hughes.
Jack is standing up while he cheers her on. She sees Carson who is three seats away. Carson glares at Jack while cheering on Lucy and she hide her laughter at the sight .
When the curtains close and Lucy’s costars all ambush her in hugs, Macy prepares for the worse. Carson goes over to Jack who hasn’t noticed him yet.
“Car don’t do anything stupid.” Carson just ignores her and he taps on Jacks shoulder.
Carson looks very different from what he did when he was 11. He now had a mullet and an eyebrow piercing (one that his friend did in his garage one day much to Lucy’s disapproval). But he was also now 6’0 and had a scarier demeanor. Honestly Jack was only able to recognize him from a photo Lucy had posted on her instagram. Jack goes to say something but Carson holds his hand up.
“Save it, as much as I never wanted to see you ever again, she wants you here so I respect that you came.” Carson softly grabs Macy’s hand, “we are going to the stage exit to go meet up with her. She takes 20 minutes to get out of all her makeup and costume. If you finally want to act like a man and treat my sister like she deserves you are welcome to join us, but if you are only here cause your latest one night stand stood you up or something like that, don’t waste her time and go back to Jersey.”
Jack is stunned as Carson and Macy walk away, but he quickly regains his composure and follows after them. While waiting outside, Jack watches the couple interact. He sees grumpy Carson and his happy girlfriend who is trying to calm him down. He smiles as he remembers how grumpy he got after a bad practice or a bad game and how Lucy would cheer him up.
Actors and actresses leave one by one until it’s time for Lucy. She is radiant as she greets fans and signs playbills. At the end of the group of fans was where Carson ,Macy and Jack stood. When she finally gets to Jack she couldn’t look away.
Carson pulls her out of her trance by hugging her. Macy joins making it a group hug. The teens hold on for a second before letting Lucy go.
“You did amazing out there.” Macy was always star struck at Lucy’s talents, reminiscent of how Carson idolized Jack.
“We are going to head home, I’ll drive your car.” Carson says grabbing Lucy’s car key. He then looks at Jack and then back at Lucy, “Don’t do anything stupid, but also don’t be afraid to give him another chance. I hate to say this, but I always like how happy he made you.”
“Thanks Car.” She leans up and kisses her brother’s forehead before he turns to Jack.
“Don’t fuck this shit up. Break her heart again and I’ll put your ass on the long term injury list.” Jack nods as Macy pulls Carson away.
“Damn when did he get scary?” Jack and Lucy laugh. When the laughter dies down, she looks at Jack with the same adoration she had for him when they were kids.
“You came.” Finally she hugs him, after many years yearning for his warmth.
“Of course I made it.” He says returning the hug. “I so told you that you would be the hottest green chick.”
Playfully she shoves Jack who just laughs. To get away from the crowd they walk to Jack’s car and on the walk they catch up.
“So Carson lives out here now?” Jack recalls Carson saying that he was going home earlier.
“Yeah I got custody of him about a year ago. Mom passed away shortly after you left and dad just got worse. It was no place for him, so I took my dad to court.” She shivers slightly so Jack gives her his jacket before she continues her story. “I have no idea what I’m doing raising a 16 year old, luckily my neighbor helped me out and now Carson is dating their daughter Macy.”
“You know from the small interactions I saw them have, they remind me of us.” Jack test the waters and holds her hand, which she gladly accepts, “Speaking about brothers, Luke and Quinn miss you.”
“How about you Jack, did you miss me?”
“More than anything.”
Jack opens the car door for Lucy and helps her get in before he got into the driver side.
“So miss Broadway do you have any plans tonight or can I take you out to eat?” Jack says while putting his seatbelt on.
“ I have no plans Mr NHL.But if we are going out I need time order delivery for Carson and Macy” Jack pulls out his credit card from his wallet.
“Use my card.” She tries to decline his card, but he shakes his head, “Lucy it’s the least I could do.”
She sighs before calling Macy to ask what they want for dinner. After she got the response, Lucy went and ordered food for the teens. She tried to enter her card, but Jack snatched her phone and entered his card instead.
“So now that, that’s take care of. Would you like to go out to dinner?” He hands her the phone back.
“You know I could really go for a good burger and fries, that’s if your professional team of dietitians would allow that.” Jack smiles remembering one of his favorite dates with her.
Jack had just gotten his license and he was driving around in Quinn’s hand me down car. Right after passing his drivers test, he drove straight to Lucy’s house.
“So where does the princess want to go?” Jack asked as she got into the car.
“You know I could really go for a burger and fries.” She gets into her seat and Jack takes her to their favorite local diner.
When they arrive, the host seats them at their favorite table. While they wait for their food, Lucy tells Jack about her day.
“And in front of everyone my voice cracked, god it was so embarrassing, Jacky.” She hides her face at the memory.
“I bet you have the cutest voice cracks.” The love struck boy laughs as his girl rolls her eyes at him.
“No voice cracks are cute Jacky.”
“Well yours are cause they come from you.” Their food finally arrives and they both grab a fry off the other person’s plate. Something they have done since they started dating. They called it ‘checking for poison’ but it was just one of those silly couple things.
“I love these little moments.” Lucy says as she bites into Jack’s fry.
“Well we have a whole lifetime full of little moments waiting for us.” He says while eating Lucy’s fry.
“A burger and fries sound wonderful, Lulu.”
Tumblr media
The two had dinner and it was like nothing changed. They shared food like normal, they talked like it was just a normal Wednesday dinner.
They finished their food and were getting ready to head out and of course Jack paid. Afterwards the two sit in Jack’s car, which was another thing they did often when they dated.
“You’re telling me that Carson became an islander fan after everything happened?” Jack chuckles at Carson’s pettiness.
“Yeah, he even forced me to take him to a game, where we met a few of the players.” She pulls up a picture they took where Carson was wearing a islander jersey and Lucy was just in a normal sweater as they stood next to a couple players, “One of the guys actually asked for my number.”
“Which guy?” Jack felt himself getting jealous.
“Oh Jacky I don’t even remember.” Of course she did after all she did give him her number. But she looks away from Jack. “Even if I did it was a year ago Jack.”
“You obviously do remember, you won’t look at me right now.” Jack doesn’t mean to be sassy towards Lucy, but let’s be honest, being sassy is in his dna.
“Why does it matter Jack? You’ve had other girlfriends why couldn’t I date someone else?” Lucy tries not to cry, but a few tears slip out, “Do you know how hard it was to watch you have other girlfriends while I stayed stuck on you. Yes I did give the Islander player my number, but I told him I wasn’t interested in a relationship. I told every guy that had any interest in me that I wasn’t interested. You want to know why Jack? Because they weren’t you.”
Jack stayed silent not knowing what to say.
“And now you just come back here like you didn’t single handed break my heart last time I saw you,. Oh wait I didn’t even see you when it happened did I Jack.” She cries some more finally letting all of her emotions out. “I should hate you, I really should. But tell me why I feel nothing but love for you.”
“Lucy, there is nothing I regret more than, breaking up with you. I was a coward, but please give me another chance.” He wipes away her tears, “Those girls were my failed attempts on forgetting you, but nothing worked. I know I don’t deserve it but please give me a second chance.”
“I don’t know Jack, I don’t want to promise you anything. But I can say, I’m willing to try again slowly.” Jack smiles and he holds her hand.
“That’s all I could ask for.”
Tumblr media
Between hockey games and Lucy’s shows, the two spent any free time together. Despite the busy schedules, they found the time to go out. Tonight, Lucy was singing the national anthem at Jack’s game versus the Islanders.
“Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome the star of broadway’s Wicked, Lucy Masters, with the singing of our national Anthem.”
The crowd cheers before getting silent for Lucy. She sings beautifully and when she hits the high note at the end, the crowd went wild. The song finishes, and she finally locks eyes with Jack. She gives him a little wave before she is ushered off the ice.
At the end of the game, the devils won 4-0. Carson ,who surprisingly wore a Hughes 43 jersey instead of his regular Islander Barzal 13 Jersey, was hyped by the win. He went into a rant as the pair waited for Jack to leave the locker room.
“Damn I miss hockey.” Lucy loves seeing Carson happy more than anything. She was glad that he decided to come, seeing it as a step in the right direction.
“You know if you aren’t too rusty at it, we can go shoot the puck together one day.” Both Lucy and Carson look over and see Jack. He pulls Lucy into a hug. “Hands down the best performance of the night goes to you Miss Lucy.”
“I am not so sure about that, a shut out game and both you and Timo getting two points? Much more impressive.” Lucy praises Jack causing Carson to gag.
“Come on Carson, let’s leave the lovers alone.” Luke comes out of nowhere and directs Carson towards his car. Lucy and Carson were spending the night at Jack and Luke’s place so they didn’t have to drive back to New York this late. So Luke was okay with driving Carson back while Jack and Lucy have a car to themselves. Carson leaves with Luke, but not until he sent a few menacing glares at Jack.
“Just so you know, the team chirped the hell out of me when Luke told them how scared I am of Carson.” To be fair, now that Carson is one of the best high school prospects of the 2025 class and has scouts coming to almost every game now, especially since he is a leftie, he’s a scary teenager.
“In your defense, his pitch is reaching an average of 88 miles per hour as a junior. I would be scared of him too.” Jack looks at Lucy and smiles as he sees her in his jersey.
“You look so good in my number.” He steps back and acts like he is taking a photo of her with an invisible camera, “Picture perfect baby.”
“Jacky you are such a dork.”She turns around and walks away while smiling. Jack runs up behind her and pulls her into a hug.
“I’ll gladly be a dork if that means I’m your dork.”
Jack had been miserable as Lucy was gone at a two week long theater camp. Luke thought if Lucy didn’t get home soon, Quinn would kill Jack. The day she was coming back, Jack sat by the door waiting for Ellen to come back with Lucy. He originally wanted to come with but he forgot to finish his chores the night before so Ellen made him stay home and wait.
When his mom’s car pulls in to the driveway, Jack bolts out the door, almost like a wild animal. Lucy gets out of the car and Jack tackles her in a hug. He gives her small kisses all over her face.
“I missed you, I missed you, I missed you.” Jack repeats this mantra as Lucy struggles to wiggle out of his hold. All the while, Lucy is dying of laughter.
“Get off me you dork.” It takes Quinn pulling Jack off to get Lucy free. He then picks up Lucy like a sack of potatoes and runs away from Jack. The boys run around, as Jack tries to get Lucy back.
“Quinn put the poor girl down.” Ellen calls out. Quinn puts Lucy down carefully and Jack runs over and grabs on to Lucy like a kid hold their favorite toy.
“Fear not fair damsel, your hero has saved you from the ugly ass troll.” (QUINN BABY DON’T LISTEN TO THIS YOU ARE VERY PRETTY) Quinn just flips off his brother before heading back into the house, “I think your hero deserves a kiss for saving you.”
“You’re lucky I find you cute, you dork.” Lucy pulls him down into a kiss. Jack can’t help but smile.
“I may be a dork, but I’m your dork.”
“You’ll always be my dork Jacky.” Lucy pulls him down into a kiss. Their first kiss in five years. Jack would freeze time and live in this moment forever if he could. Sadly time has to go on and the pair pull apart. “Let’s go home Jacky.”
Hand in hand, they leave the arena, full of hope for the future of their relationship.

WHY HER? — SIM JAEYUN (chapter fifteen)
pairing. idol!jake x fem!fan!reader synopsis. in the most cliche way, jake falls for a fan of his. y/n just has to decide if she’s able to handle being apart of his life. notes. super angsty…sorryyyy
“How are you feeling?” Jake asked, sitting down next to Y/N. It had been a couple weeks since the album in incident and Y/N’s eye had healed well. Unfortunately during a recent concert of Enhypen’s, Y/N had someone spit on her shoes. It angered her sure, but the tip of the iceberg was the trucks sent by engenes, encouraging a breakup between Y/N and Jake. The girl had passed by them the other day and had never felt so humiliated in her life.
Or maybe the last last straw was someone ‘accidentally’ bumping into her at a cafe and spilling an iced americano all over her outfit. Y/N wanted to believe that it wasn’t intentional, but the soft giggles from the girls and the enhypen photo cards dangling from their bags said otherwise.
Y/N hated to give up, she never wanted to admit defeat. Jake was hers and she was his, it shouldn’t matter what anyone thought. But her dignity was slowly being destroyed and constantly looking over her shoulder became tiring. She just needed to focus on school and not on the possibility of being injured worse than an album to the face.
“Better.” Y/N mumbled, not being able to meet Jake’s gaze. She hated the words that were about to leave her mouth, but maybe it was for the best. Or maybe she should’ve slept on it more, going over the pros and cons in her head. But Y/N wasn’t thinking straight and she was extremely stressed out. Her judgement was a bit clouded.
“I think we should take a break.” She whispered, finally looking up at Jake. The silence was deafening and the way Jake’s expression dropped made Y/N wince. The girl sighed, already feeling tears come to her eyes. She had been dreading this conversation.
“Did I do something wrong?” Jake asked, his voice cracking. Y/N held back a sob, allowing tears to fall down her face.
“No…no you didn’t and that’s what sucks about this. Jake, you’re an amazing boyfriend, really really amazing. You’ve done everything for me and more so it’s not about you.” Y/N explained, turning to face him once more. That was a mistake since the look on his face only made the lump in her throat grow more. Y/N had never seen Jake this upset before, and of course she had to be the one to cause his pain.
“Then what is it about? We can fix this, there has to be some kind of solution.” Jake replied, grabbing Y/N’s hands with his. She let out a shaky sigh, a sad smile on her face.
“But there isn’t one, Jake. You’re too popular, engenes love you but they don’t love you with me. I’m being humiliated and dumped on by these people, and I don’t know if I can take it anymore.” Y/N said, watching as the boy sighed and anxiously ran his hands through his hair. Jake had always felt guilty about what Y/N went through to be with him and suddenly wished he had talked to her earlier. Had he been neglecting her mental health? Was he really as good of a boyfriend as she said?
“I’m sorry that this is happening to you, you know how shitty I feel. But they won’t do this forever. They’ll back down when they realize that you’re here to stay.” Jake was practically begging her now, already feeling Y/N slipping away from him. He felt nothing but panic in the moment, trying to say all the right things so she wouldn’t walk out of his life.
“Back down? In what, a few years? Jake, I don’t know if this is worth it!” Y/N exclaimed with frustration. Jake stilled at her words, looking at her with teary eyes. The boy didn’t want to cry in front of Y/N, but he wasn’t sure if he could hold back his emotions anymore.
“So I’m not worth it? What, did you think this was going to be easy? You knew what you were getting into Y/N how could you do this do me now?” Jake raised his voice, tears spilling into his face. Y/N rubbed her hands over her eyes, already feeling overwhelmed by the conversation.
“No…that’s not what I mean. It’s just…it’s really hard for me to have a nice relationship with you when these crazy fans exist.”
“So ignore them! They don’t matter to us!”
“Jake, you’re not listening to me—”
“Y/N I love you.” Jake interrupted. And suddenly as if Y/N’s tears were held back by a dam, it finally broke. She wished that their first ‘i love you’ could have been under better circumstances, but of course life had a way of playing cruel games.
“Why would you say that to me? Now? Are you fucking kidding me?” Y/N sneered, trying to get her words out in between sobs.
“Because I don’t want my favorite girl to leave me. I don’t know how I’ll be able to go on with my life without you in it. And I mean— I’m so in love with you that it hurts. Like, I can physically feel how much I love you and it can be overwhelming but it’s also the best feeling in the world.” Jake cried while trying to wipe away the stream of tears coming from his eyes. It was hopeless, he felt as miserable as Y/N did.
“Oh my gosh.” Y/N mumbled, head in her hands as she continued to cry. Jake’s confession only made her feel worse, her stomach twisting uncomfortably. Why did he have to be the most precious person she had ever met? Why did this have to be so hard?
“Please, Y/N. I love you so much don’t do this to me.” Jake begged, his bottom lip wobbling as sobs threatened to escape from his mouth. Y/N shook her head before standing up from the bed and gathering her things.
“I can’t…I can’t do this anymore. I’m so sorry, Yun. I’m so sorry.” Y/N said, ignoring Jake’s desperate pleas and heading straight towards the door. She tried to convince herself that it would be for best, that Jake’s career would thrive better without her. But as she walk down the hallways of the apartment building, she felt as if she left her whole world back in that dorm.
It’s for the best…It’s for the best…
Jake stared at the door, tears silently streamed down his face as he replayed the conversation over and over in his head. She left and that was it. The relationship was over. She was leaving for New York in a month, Jake would probably never see her again.
The boy began to cry even harder, feeling as if his heart had physically broken into tiny pieces. Heeseung and Riki, who had accidentally eavesdropped due to the thin walls, immediately ran to the living room. Heeseung brought the boy into a hug, rubbing his back in a comforting manner. Riki observed the two with a heavy heart, wishing that he didn’t have to see Jake in such a state.
“I’m so sorry, Jake.” Heeseung mumbled, really wishing he hadn’t sent that text in the first place.

drunk on (the thought of loving) you
₊˚⊹ summary: five years of loving hanbin can be told within taking five shots.
₊˚⊹ genre: angst (idk if this is even sad at all.. VV SLICE OF LIFE), best friend!hanbin, collegel!au | wc: 2.2k
₊˚⊹ warning(s): swearing, mentions of drinking | inspo: that’s what you get - paramore
₊˚⊹ a/n: idk this was kinda scrapped last month .. i’ll just post this bc i wanna keep this acc alive!!!
Tumblr media
i. the first shot
you vividly remember watching hanbin crying in the driver’s seat.
you were the first person he called right after he got dumped by his now ex-girlfriend; and all you could do was watch and offer him a few tissues from the passenger’s side, occasionally offering a “she wasn’t all that, anyway.” whenever hanbin would rant about how much he wasted his love on her just to get ghosted.
“i don’t know anymore, y/n. am i that dumb to not notice she isn’t into me?” he asks despite his throat dry from crying, looking at you.
and that’s when you had that damn cheesy realization the moment you looked at hanbin again — the realization where you’ve stupidly fallen for your long-time best friend and that stupid, high school love you’ve been trying to avoid for all these years slowly dawns on you now despite both of you in college.
you shrug your feelings off for the meantime, “of course not. plus, you deserve someone way better.” you assure him.
the moment you arrive home, you’ve had the whole night to confirm that you were, in fact, helplessly in love with sung hanbin.
you don’t even know how it started — maybe it was during the one time he tiredly slept on your shoulder while on the way home from a field trip, or the way he’d always invite and mention you everywhere and anytime he could to the point even his friends thought you were together, and you don’t even dare try to remember how he said “i’ll love you whenever nobody is there to do it.” that one night during your nightly calls.
and as if that wasn’t already a big wave enough, zhang hao’s reaction to it felt like a tsunami.
“say you’re kidding right now.” zhang hao says in disbelief at your confession the next day, putting his drink down to focus solely on you. “you, liking your — our best friend since middle school, right after his ass got dumped?”
you frown and shrug as a reply, “i don’t know, everything just clicked that time. i think that’s like three years worth of having to interpret his mixed signals towards me.”
zhang hao sighs at your confused state, taking a sip from his coffee before speaking up, “so you’ve liked him for at least three years now?”
slowly nodding, you put your head in your hands. “god, i’m such a fucking dumbass, hao.” you say exasperatedly as you dread the day you’d grow tired and finally confess to hanbin,
“you think you’ll try talking to him about it soon?”
“i don’t think i’ll ever have the guts to tell him, hao.” you say defeatedly, looking down at your phone to see that hanbin sent another really long rant about his ex. “not when he’s still fresh out of a relationship, that’s for sure.”
“i’m just scared that once i confess, i’ll ruin everything. i’ll ruin us.”
you felt helpless, hopeless even, just the mere thought of seeing hanbin’s pitiful reaction at your confession is enough to make you pass out in the bustling cafe you were in. what more when he’ll start distancing himself days after? you were terrified.
zhang hao waves your fear off nonchalantly, “you’ll never know. what if you’re in some kind of drama and this could be your chance?” he tries to lighten the mood, smiling victoriously when you raise your eyebrows at him.
“don’t feed into my delusions hao,” you roll your eyes at him. “i'll just tell him once i'm over from this whole dumb ‘liking your best friend’ thing.”
“by the looks of it, i don't think that's happening anytime soon.”
you scoff and playfully hit zhang hao’s shoulder, receiving a small scowl from him, “but you gotta admit, we make a good pair,”
“he just doesn't love me that way.”
Tumblr media
ii. the second shot
sometimes you wish you weren’t too adamant on hanbin drinking his heartbreak out, especially now that you’re left with a drunk-out-of-his-mind hanbin in your apartment. (you mentally curse zhang hao for leaving earlier than expected.)
the night started off with the three of you making a toast to hanbin moving on, which then evolved into a mini ranting session about going into college life, then a sudden karaoke break, zhang hao leaving after, and now this.
you’re both slouched on the dining table, arms serving as your only pillow because for some reason you can’t walk over to your sofa, and with no knowledge of time as you ramble on about the most random topics you could think of.
hanbin hums amusingly, “y’know, even if you say nobody is there to love you, i’m always here as your best friend.” his words slurred and groggy. and even with the amount of alcohol in your system numbing your senses, you still felt that little sting in your heart, you only laugh as a reply.
“so you'll only ever see me as a friend?”
you hear him hum lowly, “of course, what else would i think of you as?”
right, of course.
“not even more than a friend?” you, or the alcohol in your system, ask again. hanbin slowly hums again, the sound softening until you're met with nothing but the sound of the bustling city outside your apartment.
a few minutes passed by and you finally gain the strength to at least sit up, the sight of hanbin sleeping coming in full view — his slight pout, light breathing with a few snores here and there, and ruffled hair was honestly a sight you wished you could look at forever. but you swear the longer you stared at him, that god-awful feeling of regret starts to feel even stronger than before.
but that night, you fell in love with sung hanbin for a second time.
Tumblr media
iii. the third shot
“you know, we started talking again.” hanbin shares through the phone, going silent as he expects some reaction. no way.
you shift in your seat, “seriously? didn’t you say you officially moved on like what, two years ago?” hanbin smiles sheepishly to himself before saying, “she messaged me last night, so i replied. we talked the whole time i barely slept.”
“we’ll hang out a bit after this actually! you wanna join us?” he offers innocently, your heart receiving a jab this time when you noticed how excited his voice seemed just at the mere thought of seeing her, you knew hanbin well enough to know he was madly in love yet again.
you stay silent for a few minutes before speaking up, “you guys have fun, i don’t wanna be the third-wheel between you two.” hanbin mumbles a small ‘awe,’ before eventually ending the call to get ready.
next thing you know, you’re on facetime with zhang hao bawling your eyes out about what just happened. “see i told you, he’s still hung up on her.” he says while walking around his apartment.
genuinely speaking you don’t know what’s worse, the harsh truth zhang hao was telling or the way you could barely hear his voice due to the amount of muffling and moving he’s doing.
“did you see the way he’s talking about her? he’s literally the most obvious man alive.”
“you’re really not helping me here hao.”
“right, sorry.” zhang hao immediately shuts up, humming a bit before speaking up again. “i know it’s not easy, but at least try to move on from him, y’know?” he says, his voice filled with sympathy at your state.
before you could speak up zhang hao continues on, “it’s not possible, i know, or — i don’t know, just tell him so you can get that burden off, i’m sure he’ll understand anyway.”
you groan at the thought of confessing, “are those really my only choices?”
“unless you wanna live with getting hurt over and over again, yeah.” zhang hao shrugs.
you sigh at his advice, he was right after all, but every time you remember your friendship is at stake; you back out at the last minute. “i’ve been handling this for two years, hao, don’t you think i can handle two more?” zhang hao chuckles almost pitifully.
“of course not, you’ve been handling this whole hanbin thing for, correction, five years too long. you've genuinely gone batshit crazy.”
“honestly hao fuck you because was the last part really that necessary?”
Tumblr media
iv. the fourth shot
god, you’re tired of hanbin’s constant compliments about her; how she’s the best person in the world, how she’s the prettiest girl he’s seen, how she’s so special and dear to him. almost every conversation you’ve had would always go back to something related about her, even if it meant the most absurd topics only you three would know. the topic could be about how zhang hao got lost in the middle of a forest and hanbin would still tie it back to her.
hell, he even mentions her even while drinking.
but you’ve handled it for five years now, so what’s the difference?
the three of you were celebrating your graduation in zhang hao’s apartment, the bouquet from your parents laying on the sofa while your togas were thrown across the room while zhang hao’s coffee table was filled with a bunch of soju and shot glasses you bought from a nearby convenience store.
“thank god we’re finally graduates, i can finally escape from all those girls taking candid pictures of me.” zhanghao sighs in relief the moment he starts downing his first drink of the night, pouring more.
“you sure? i already saw new fansites of you online, they’ll never leave you alone at this rate.” hanbin retorts, you chuckle at zhang hao's horror as he's frantically checking his twitter to see pictures of him at his graduation.
the night, cliché enough, felt like a dream. the three of you basking in the temporary freedom of adulthood before you start looking for work.
as it went on, you missed the days where you could look at hanbin without noticing the stars in his eyes, the days where you could still speak full coherent sentences whenever his attention is fully on you, and zhang hao noticed.
“it's just hard to say no to someone you really loved,” you hear hanbin say, zhang hao had brought up his ex (to your absolute horror and zhang hao's drunkenness) and you've been quiet the whole conversation.
“especially with her, it felt like i had no more to give but the moment we talked — there was still something left.”
you chuckle, not at him, but the way his words hit how you feel with hanbin right in the center. and yet you just can't refuse to give hanbin the little love you have left even when he's freely giving his own to someone else.
you take another shot to drown your feelings out more, “so you just can't say no, right?” you ask, seeing if he feels the same way.
hanbin smiles at you before nodding, placing his shot glass down to lean back on his chair. “yeah. you really can't.” he answers, confirming that you were both experiencing the same form of love. but painfully enough, just not towards each other.
god, was the truth so anticlimactic for you.
the way hanbin talks about her with the same lovestruck eyes whenever you talk about him to zhang hao, how you notice the little things in hanbin the way he also notices the little things in her — you knew it from the start.
but to see it slapped to your face despite knowing how it'll end, just felt like reality slowly kicking in the more drinks you take.
and now, under zhang hao's dim apartment lights, you realized that the truth that sung hanbin will never see you as more than his most cherished best friend since middle school, really does hurt.
you swear you were just drinking your first shot, but when you woke up to find yourself on zhang hao's bed; a loud snore coming from the living room and—
Tumblr media
v. the fifth shot
“you awake?”
shit.
quickly turning to hanbin's figure by the bedroom door despite the pounding headache, you slowly nod. “just woke up actually.”
as you slowly look at hanbin by the bedroom door, you immediately remember the day you realized your feelings for him — his face puffy from crying yet still so pretty under that orange sunset glow, his hands that’d usually tap on the steering wheel when he was starting to calm down again, and the way his shirt was so wrinkled in one specific area from all the bunching.
it felt almost too poetic to have that sort of realization under the sunset in his car, almost as if you’re bidding goodbye to the days you used to look at him as just your best friend.
so you, or the remaining alcohol in your system figured, rather, that you make use of the sunrise to finally welcome the harsh truth of confessing to him.
and you did.
“i love you.”
you’re met with nothing but silence, looking down to save yourself from bawling your eyes out in front of him.
“i’ve loved you for five years, hanbin. five fucking grueling years.” you manage to croak out, not noticing the way hanbin slowly makes his way towards you, nor the way his eyes significantly soften when he sees zhang hao’s sheets slowly staining from your tears.
a few minutes pass without much happening, the room only filled with the sounds of your sniffling.
“i’m sorry, y/n.” hanbin whispers, eventually embracing you to at least bring some comfort. but to his dismay, his actions just made you cry even harder; not because you just got rejected, but because of how soft his voice and embrace was it felt like he was pitying you.
in his defense, who wouldn’t? you loved him for so long, despite knowing he’s still hung up on his ex-girlfriend and regardless will still see you as his most precious best friend. all he could do at the moment was continuously say ‘i’m sorry’ whenever you cling onto his shirt tighter as support.
as you continue to cry in his embrace, you realized that under the sunset, you were there to comfort hanbin. but as you’re both waiting for the sunrise, you figured he’ll never be the one there for you like he promised.

I Promise I Love You
I always have
RQ "Can you do a Ethan x male reader where reader was bullied in middle school and Ethan was apart if it and they grow up and Ethan changes and becomes a better person and tries to be reader friend but he pushes away but then on his final try Ethan asks him out and reader says yes and yea Tyy"
Warnings: Bullying (obviously), very slight mention of suic!d3
A/N; I needa get a move on with these requests omg
Tumblr media
You dreaded going to school everyday. The constant bullying you had to endure with no sort of help was like a living hell. As any normal person would, you told not only your parents, but the principle you were constantly getting bullied, but of course they were no help. Rubbed it off as just some kind of 'boy thing'.
So, throughout your whole middle school, you constantly got hurt physically and mentally. The whole school picked on you, but it wasn't as bad as Ethan and his group of friends. You were always such a vulnerable target for them. Quiet and shy, just what they needed.
"Oh, look what we have here? A little mouse roaming around our school. Y'know they don't like animals in here, right? Like to keep things sanitary." Ethan smirked, a couple of his friends laughing and nudging him in the arm. "C'mon Ethan, can you just leave me alone?" The way you spoke was so vulnerable. So quiet, afraid to speak up.
"Or what, huh? You gonna go cry to your mommy? Not even your fuckin' mom wants to help you. She hates you. Everyone hates you. You aren't worth anyone's time." The only thing you could do was stand still as tears began to build up in your eyes. You threw your head down and tried to walk away, but Ethan only grabbed your shoulder and pushed you into your locker.
But.. just then
"Hey, you good M/N?" Sam asked you, snapping you out of your trance. Fast forward a few years later and you were off to college with some of your friends. You nodded, "Oh yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking bout' something.." You gave her a slight smile before leaving her car. You both arrived at campus to start your first day of college, some of your friends already waiting for you there.
You grabbed your things from her trunk and you both headed into the campus building. You were excited to see who you were rooming with. The anticipation was killing you. When you finally got to the front desk, you were handed your dorm key. 'Room 407' A floor lower than Tara and Sam's.
You opened your dorm room, and surprise surprise, you saw your friend Chad hanging on the couch. “Oh hey! Aren’t we lucky?” Chad smiled at you, “Have you met our other roommate yet?”
“No, we have another roommate?” You were confused since you expected to only be rooming with one person. “Yeah, he should be in his room over there.” Chad pointed towards the closed door with small posters covering it.
You walked towards the door after placing all your belongings in your room, curious to see who else you’d be rooming with. You knocked, “Hey, can i come in? It’s your roommate.” Your tone was soft, worried that they’d be asleep. “Come in.” A voice was heard on the other side of the door.
You turned the doorknob and opened the poster covered door, revealing a tall curly head sitting on a bed. He looked really familiar but you couldn’t put your finger on what it was. He looked up at you with his doughy eyes, “Oh hey, you must be…?” He dragged the ‘be’ on before you replied, “Oh, I’m M/N. M/N L/N, your other roommate.”
He smiled, “Nice to meet you M/N. I’m Ethan. Ethan Landry.” It took you a moment before you realized his name. “Ethan landry as in.. the popular middle school bully from —whatever middle school—?” His eyebrows furrowed and he smiled, “Uh- I used to be.. not anymore. How’d you know..?”
It took him a second before he realized. “Wait- are you..?” He stopped mid sentence as you nodded, “Your little mouse..” You whispered before leaving his room, out of your dorm. Chad questioned why you were leaving, but you gave him no response.
You left to see Tara and Sam, wanting to spend more time with them and less time in your dorm. But as the hours flew by, you knew you’d need to go back to your dorm at some point.
And just before you knew it, you were back at your dorm. Ethan was out making a snack in the kitchen and you tried your best to sneak past him but you were caught after he turned around to walk back to his room.
“Oh, hey M/N. Do you think we can talk?” He asked, walking towards you with his food. “Uhm- not right now. It’s late. I should get to bed.” In reality, it was only around 10 PM but you just wanted to avoid any interactions with him as best as possible.
You walked away before he could say anything else, locking your door and throwing yourself on your bed. The thoughts of your middle school experience came back to you. More specifically, the thoughts of Ethan constantly picking on you flooded your mind.
Though he did seem nicer you weren’t ready to really talk to him. It was all so sudden.
The next day rolled around and you got up early to go on a run around campus. You enjoyed the silence as you ran, the only sounds being your breathing and running.
Eventually you got back to your dorm and was met with a curly haired man as you walked through your dorm door. You tried to get past him but he only grabbed your arm, forcing you to stop walking.
“M/N, please, can we just talk?” His voice pleaded and he sounded so desperate to talk to you. “What is there to talk about, Ethan? I mean you bully me throughout my WHOLE middle school experience and then now you expect me to be friends with you?” Your tone became more aggressive but you sighed, calming yourself down. “Ethan, you made my life a living hell. You made my life so miserable to the point where i was this close to leaving.” You made a pinching gesture with your hand, signaling to him how close you were your final moments.
“I don’t want your friendship, Ethan. What I want is for you to stay the hell alway from me.” And with that you walked away and left back to you room, leaving Ethan’s mouth slightly agape.
But Ethan never left you alone. Day after day, he’d try to get your attention, wanting to build a friendship with you. He was quite the persistent one. But, day after day you’d tell him you weren’t interested in anything he has to say.
Until one day he was fed up with trying to befriend you. In reality he really didn’t want to be friends with you. No, he wanted something more. Like a friends to lovers trope but instead you didn’t want to be friends.. so i guess enemies to lovers?
So, Ethan being the persistent boy he was, he once again tried to get your attention. But this time he didn’t try to get your attention with just words. Instead he bought you your favorite flowers, hoping it’d be enough to at least hear him out.
And it was.
“Ethan how’d you know these were my favorite flowers?” You asked, taking the bouquet of flowers from his hands. “Erm- that’s not important.. what’s important is..” He sighed, “M/N I really like you. I don’t just want to be friends with you, I wanna be lovers. I know that the things I’ve done in the past hurt you but trust me, I’ve changed.”
He placed his arms around your shoulders and you stared at him with an emotionless expression. “Please, give me a chance M/N. I promise I’ll treat you the way I should’ve back in middle school.” Your eyes looked at the ground as you bit your lip. Were you really willing to give a chance to someone who hurt you for the past two years?
He took a deep breath, “Fine Ethan, but I’m giving you one chance, alright? You fuck it up then that’s your loss.” His nervous face lit up and he threw his arms around your waist, pulling you into a hug. You hugged him back hesitantly, flowers still in hand. “Thank you, thank you! I promise I’ll be the best boyfriend towards you.”
He looked at you with a big grin and you couldn’t help but slightly smile. Maybe giving him a chance will be a good decision.

Today’s the day. The day that every parent dreads, from the moment their kid turns that special age. The day their precious little bean goes to big-kid school. Suho wishes it would never come. Alas, he can’t just stop his boys from growing up, so he’s gotta suck it up, your words.
The day his twin boys, Daesik and Dalyun turned five, he knew their first day of first grade was nearing close. Every time he would go to the grocery store there would be displays screaming, “Get ready to go back to school!” at him. He would glare at the happy children on the displays, his mind going back to the reminder that Daesik and Dalyun needed to get their school supplies before it was too late.
It was almost too late when the twins got their school supplies. [Name] had told Junmyeon at least thirty times a day that he needed to look over the supplies list and take the boys to the store so they can pick out what kind of supplies they want.
[Name] sits Junmyeon down after dinner one night, staring down at his husband with a scowl. The twins were in bed, and [Name] tucked them in after a bedtime story. Junmyeon wishes the couch would swallow him up and turn into a stale fry that’s been tucked between the cushions for months now. [Name] gives the male a look that tells Junmyeon to start explaining why the hell their boys’ first day of school is in two days and they still do not have any supplies.
“I can explain, love,” Junmyeon starts, shrinking deeper into the couch as [Name]’s piercing pools of [EC] narrow at him. If looks could kill, [Name] would be wanted for the murder of his husband. “I meant to take them a week ago.”
“And you didn’t, why?” [Name]’s voice is sharp, and the man isn’t even yelling. He’s talking normally but his tone tells Junmyeon that [Name] is angry.
“It’s a funny story, really,” Junmyeon chuckles nervously, but [Name] isn’t laughing, which is a bad sign. His husband doesn’t get angry often, but when he does, you might want to watch out.
“Junmyeon, does it look like I’m in the mood for a funny story? I want an explanation, and I want one now.”
Junmyeon breaks, finally, tears forming at the corners of his eyes, “Fine! I confess, damn it! I didn’t take them because I don’t want them to go to school!” Junmyeon covers his face with his hands, letting the tears fall freely.
[Name]’s body and face soften at his husband's confession. Now that Junmyeon told him the truth, [Name]’s chest rumbles with light chuckles. [Name] takes a seat next to Junmyeon and he tugs his sulking husband close to his body.
“Junnie, look at me,” [Name] says, lightly shaking his husband's slightly bigger body, “I’m not mad anymore now that you actually explained what was going on. It’s not like you to stall until the last minute.”
“I know, love. I’m really sorry, but the thought of my precious little beans growing up scares me to no end.” Junmyeon says, allowing [Name] to wipe the salty tears from his cheeks.
“I understand, but this is something we have to do. You want them to get a proper education so they can be successful, don’t you?” [Name] asks softly, his slim fingers pushing Junmyeon’s wild baby hairs away from his face.
“Of course I do, I want them to grow up and be happy. But I also want them to stay little forever.” Junmyeon sniffles, looking at his husband with the cutest pout on his handsome face.
“I don’t want them to grow up either, but it’s just part of life, darling,” [Name] says, chuckling softly at his pouty husband, “They’re only five right now, Junnie. They have lots of growing to do.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I just love them so much.” Junmyeon sighs, his chest clenching with heavy amounts of love for his twins.
“They love you too, trust me. They keep asking me when Daddy is going to take them shopping for school supplies. Dalyun is hoping to find a Bluey backpack.” [Name] laughs, Junmyeon joining in.
“I’ll take them tomorrow, promise. Will you be joining us, love?” Junmyeon asks, his hand slipping into [Name]’s and bringing it to his lips, placing a gentle kiss on top of his hand.
“Sure, I’ll go. It takes two to parent those two little monsters.” [Name] says with a cheeky smile.
“How dare you call my little beans monsters! They’re little angels!” Junmyeon gasps, offended. [Name] just laughs some more and stands up.
“Sure, sure. Let’s get ready for bed. We have a few busy days ahead of us.”
“Yes, we do. I may not be prepared, but I’m happy.”
“That’s all that matters, dear.”

“LeLe! You have ten minutes to get down here before I leave you! You’re going to make us both late!” You yell up the steps to your eleven year old daughter.
The second child that you had by Jack.
And you didn’t think there was going to be another one because of him cheating on you, but you found out right before you were able to file for divorce.
You cried for two weeks when you had found out and they definitely were not happy tears. It didn’t really hit you until you were once again holding a baby girl in your arms after being in labor for six hours.
When you originally told Jack, he obviously wanted to make it work between the two of you, but you just weren’t having it. You filed for divorce when you weren’t even two months into your pregnancy. You admit that it did add another layer of stress, but you wanted to cut as many ties as you could that held you to Jack.
But two ties that will be with you forever were your two daughters.
Even though you were upset about finding out that you were pregnant for a second time, once you saw those chubby cheeks and brown eyes you fell in love with the thought of having another mini me besides Amiyah.
He made his bed and now it was time for him to lie in it.
You happened to find out all of the information about his little fling, Rebecca Davis and couldn’t understand for the life of you what she had that you didn’t.
Until you realized,
She didn’t have a damn thing on you and your ex-husband had just been stupid.
After he got caught, he cut off all contact with her.
Or at least that’s what he told you.
“Coming mom!”
You were waiting by the door with your keys in your right hand with her lunch that you packed for her in the other.
Your oldest Amiyah lived with Jack full-time.
You admit that when she originally asked you two years ago when she was twelve that she wanted to live with him and if you were okay with it, your heart shattered. She was your little mini-me and had obviously been attached to your side since she was born.
There was no way in the world that you would keep your children from seeing their father and vice versa.
Of course you didn’t mention to her why it seemed like there was such a disconnect between you two when at one time it was the complete opposite.
She did her best not to mention it because she noticed that despite being divorced, the two of you did still have a soft spot for one another.
Amiyah was a daddy’s girl and there was no way of getting around it. You knew she loved you obviously, but being around Jack was top tier and you knew deep down that it hurt her being away from him for long periods of time.
It hurt you too and it had been hurting you for the past ten years.
She was now 14 and just recently started high school and she came over every weekend and she made sure to facetime you and talk to you every day.
You knew in the back of your mind that it was only a matter of time before she found out why her parents weren’t together anymore and you were dreading it. She was getting to that age and getting more mature and knew that she was bound to ask sooner or later.
“I’m here, I’m here!” Aaliyah said coming down the steps with her book bag and jacket in her hand.
“Mm hmm, you were up again weren’t you?” You asked while handing her the lunch you made for her as she started to make her way to the car.
“I have a history test! I want to do good on it mom!”
“I heard Netflix, but I’ll let it slide, come on.”
It was around noon and you were hanging up some new designs in your boutique when you suddenly got a call from Amiyah.
This instantly made you nervous seeing as it was school hours and she knew better than to be on her phone unless it was an emergency.
“MiMi? Are you okay?” You blurted out as you quickly sat down.
“Mommy, can you come and get me?” She only called you mommy when she was upset so you knew that this had to be a big deal.
“Bub, what’s wrong? Did something happen? Are you hurt?”
“No, just please.” She pleaded with you and you could tell that she was now crying.
“Okay, I’m coming.”
You slipped your phone in your back pocket and made your way over to where Luna and Lav were.
You opened your boutique soon after the whole cheating ordeal and Luna and Lav help you to run it on a daily basis. Homebase was in Louisville, but you had stores in New York, Miami, Atlanta, D.C, L.A., and you were working on getting one in Houston.
“Something’s wrong with MiMi. She won’t tell me over the phone so I’m going to go get her.”
“Why didn’t she call her big ass forehead father?” Lav asked before Luna looked at her and rolled her eyes.
“I don’t know. She sounded really upset. Maybe it’s a girl thing and she needed me.”
“Well we’ll be here and we have everything covered.”
You said a quick thank you before hopping into your range rover and speeding to the high school.
When Amiyah slipped into the passenger seat, her eyes were filled with tears and you could tell that there were dry tears covering her cheeks.
“What happened MiMi?” You asked, concerned while looking at her. All she did was shake her head.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to tell me right now. I want you to take your time and tell me when you’re ready. But for now, how about we have lunch and get our nails done?” You said while trying to wipe her tears away.
“Okay.” She quietly said before you started driving in the direction of the nearest chick-fil-a. That would always make her feel better and Jack would sometimes joke about him feeling some type of way seeing as she liked that better than KFC.
The radio was on a low volume as you were weaving through the Louisville traffic when you could see that she was looking at you.
“Mimi?”
“Thanks for coming to get me.”
“Of course. Anything for you, you’re my baby. You know that. Was your dad busy?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t call him. And Aaliyah is your baby.”
“Aaliyah is my youngest baby while you’re my oldest baby. Amiyah, let him know that you’re with me. I don’t want him to go up there when school is over and be looking for you.”
“Can you do it, please? I don’t want to talk to him.” You suddenly got a confused look on your face. In fourteen years, this was a first.
“Baby girl, what is going on? There has never been a time when you turned down talking to your dad.”
“And I want to stay with you for the rest of the week.”
“Amiyah Margaret Harlow, you have me nervous.” You responded while pulling into a parking space.
“Please, I just… I’m mad at him.”
“Sweetheart, you have to tell him that and tell him why. How do you expect to fix things if you don’t talk about them? We taught you that.”
“I’m not ready to talk to him.”
“Okay… just… I’ll text him. Let’s just get our food.” You said while turning off the car and opening the door.
You then sent Jack a quick text so that he wouldn’t be worried and be looking for her later
You- I have Amiyah. She called me crying and asked for me to pick her up from school which I did. But she won’t tell me what’s wrong. Did something happen between the two of you recently?
Jack- Not that I can think of. She was fine this morning when I dropped her off at school.
You- She also said that she wanted to stay with me for the rest of the week and that she was mad at you. I told her that she needed to tell you this and not me.
Jack- Mad at me for what? Literally nothing out of the ordinary happened
You- I don’t know, but you need to call her later and fix this because she was crying crocodile tears when I got her earlier.
Jack- Well you focus on Amiyah and I can pick up Aaliyah. When I drop her off, I’ll talk to her.
You- Okay
“You know what you want, Mimi?”
“My usual, please.”
“You got it.”
After having lunch with you and getting a mani and pedi done, you could tell that she was still upset, but she tried not to let it show.
It was nearing 3:45 and you knew that Jack would be coming with your youngest soon and tried one more time to get information out of your oldest.
“Mimi, are you ready to talk now?” You quietly asked and turned down the television in order to hear her response.
“Um, I guess.”
“What is going on between you and your dad and why don’t you want to talk to him?”
After you asked that question, tears started to form in her eyes again and you quickly went and sat next to her and hugged her.
“Because he ruined our family.”
“What? Amiyah, we just grew apart….”
“Mommy stop making excuses. Daddy cheated on you with a lady named Rebecca and that’s why you two divorced. This is his fault why we aren’t all under one roof. And I noticed that you’re still sad all the time. You don’t date anyone and neither does he. I just want the two of you back together.”
Well, shit.
“Amiyah….”
Before you could respond to her, the doorbell rang and you hopped up to answer it.
And of course you were then face to face with your ex-husband and a bouncing bubbly Aaliyah who was sipping on a slushie from 711. She was going to be bouncing off the walls until bedtime and made a mental note to kill Jack later for that since he let her get the largest size.
“Sorry, mommy! Forgot my key again!” She said as she stepped past you and smiled. She looked to the living room to see her older sister and she was upset and quickly went to give her a hug. You admired their relationship and how close that they were.
You then turned back to Jack and he was now looking at you concerned.
“Umm, first off, hi.” You said, trying to come to terms with what Amiyah just told you.
“Hey, you okay? Where’s Mimi?” Jack asked, trying to step past you, but you quickly pulled him back.
“She knows.” You whisper and Jack looked at you confused.
“Knows what?”
“Why we aren’t together anymore and she is upset with you.”
“How did she even find out?” Jack muttered and his heartrate had now sped up.
“It is all over the internet, Jackman if you know where to look. We did our best with trying to shield her, but there’s only so much that we can do. That’s what comes with having a father whose famous.”
“Fuck.” Jack quietly muttered and you had no idea what to even do at this point.
You then noticed how Jack’s eyes went wide and you turned around to see Amiyah giving him a death glare.
“You are such a hypocrite! You tell me not to settle when it comes to boyfriends after I got cheated on and that I deserve the best when you were out here cheating on your wife!”
“Amiyah, baby….” Jack said, pleading with her.
“No! How could you do that to her and do that to us? Now we have to split our time between two houses, have two of every holiday all because of what you did! You weren’t thinking of us at all!”
“Amiyah! Do not raise your voice at your father!”
“Mom, how can you still take up for him after what he did to you and to us?”
“At the end of the day, he is still your father and you need to respect that.”
You suddenly heard slurping and you looked to your left to see Aaliyah looking on with wide eyes.
“Um, so can we have pizza for dinner? And daddy? I know that lady you cheated on mommy with definitely wasn’t as pretty as she is.”
—-
You had finally convinced Amiyah to talk to Jack while you went and entertained your youngest child upstairs in her room to give them two some privacy.
They were both in the living room sitting next to each other while Amiyah had her arms crossed.
“Amiyah?”
“Yes?”
“I’m sorry that you found out from the internet and not from me about what happened. I regret what I did every single day and I’m holding out hope that one day your mom will forgive me and take me back. I admit I was wrong and that instead of working through our problems in our marriage, I just wanted a distraction from it all and that’s what I did. I still remember the look on your mom’s face when she found out and my heart breaks every time that I think about it. I told you not to settle for less because I meant it. I guess that was my karma. Me cheating on your mom and then you getting cheated on. I never thought that I would see you in that position and the fact that I know I wouldn’t want that to happen to my daughter so why would I do that to someone else’s daughter? Been ten years since it was finalized and I still get on myself about it every day.”
“She still cries from time to time about it. I know she doesn’t think I know, but I do. I heard her talking to Aunt Lav the other day and I heard her say as much as she hates what you did that she misses you.”
“And I have no one to blame but myself for it.”
“I think she would take you back if you asked her.”
"I highly doubt it. She barely accepts the gifts that I give her for her birthday every year. And besides, it's been ten years."
That's when the wheels in Amiyah's head began turning to try and come up with a plan to get her parents back together.
“It’s been ten years, but neither of you ever dated anyone else. That counts for something. Right?”
Amiyah had been planning what she wanted to do for the two of you for about a week now, but she knew that she was going to have to have help. And what better people to help her than the two people who were covering up her father’s cheating ways?
Uncle Urban and Uncle Sunni.
Amiyah- Uncle Urban and Uncle Sunni we miss you. Can you pick me and Lele up from school today?
Aaliyah- Yes! Pretty pleaseeee you owe us a lunch date
Urban- anything for my girls. I'll make sure Uncle Sunni isn't late this time either
Sunni- That was ONE time
Amiyah- One time too many smh
Amiyah had let both of you know that their uncles would be coming to get them and that they didn’t need to worry about picking up either of them from school. You decided to treat yourself and get your hair done since there was no need to rush to get either of them.
They had all finished eating and Amiyah had her arms crossed and was eyeing both of her uncles as they both looked at her confused while Aaliyah was looking at the dessert menu.
Amiyah nudged her and she knew it was game time.
"You two okay?" Sunni asked concerned while trying to figure out what was happening.
"We know what you two did and the both of you are going to help us fix it."
"What did we do?" Urban curiously asked.
"Not tell our mother that our father was cheating on her which led to their divorce."
Urban went pale
Sunni was trying not to choke on his drink
Aaliyah was just following in her big sister's footsteps.
"They're both miserable and we want to see them back together. Well I’ve actually never seen them together since it happened when she was pregnant with me.” Aaliyah added while pointing to the picture of the molten chocolate lava dessert and scooting it towards Urban.
"Girls this really isn't our business to intervene with this. Your parents…"
"Not intervening eleven years ago is why we're where we are now. Obviously daddy is at fault. However, you two turned a blind eye and hurt my mom in the process and it's the fact that she still cries about it to this very day. I want my entire family back under one roof." Amiyah added and the two of them knew that the girls were not about to let this go.
“So, what exactly did you two have in mind since it doesn’t look like we’re getting out of this one.” Sunni muttered while looking at Urban.
“First, we have to get them to spend more time with each other. I don’t know how, but I’ll make it happen. And once that happens, I want to recreate their first date that they had at Vincenzo’s.”
“Are we actually doing it at the restaurant or?”
“No, in mommy’s backyard and the two of you are responsible for setting it up while we keep them distracted. It helps that Aaliyah is with her and I’m with dad.”
“And what if this doesn’t work?” Urban asked nervous about the answer that his goddaughter was going to give him.
“It has to, because I don’t have a plan B.”
“If it doesn’t, I’ll just start crying. Usually they both fold when that happens.” Aaliyah said while digging into her dessert.
“Mom is going to kill you. You have been eating sugar nonstop all week.”
“She won’t know if you don’t tell her.”
“She’ll be able to tell because you’ll be bouncing off the walls until you go to sleep.”
“Okay so when are we starting to execute this plan?”
“Now.”
“Daddy, this is pretty. Do you think mom would like it? You should buy it for her.” Amiyah said while she was out with her dad to get some new shoes that she wanted and saw a necklace that had you written all over it.
“She would probably like it.” Jack answered her while shrugging and admiring the necklace at the same time.
“So buy it for her.”
“Mimi, we talked about this.”
“You have to try. I know you still want to be with her and that she wants to be with you. It’s like you’ve given up!”
“I appreciate what you’re trying to do, baby girl, but she made her intentions very clear when she told me she wanted to divorce me.”
“No offense, daddy but that was 100% your fault.”
“I-...”
“Tell her how sorry you are!”
“Don’t you think I’ve already tried that? I still give her gifts on her birthday every year, still get her flowers periodically and even give her gifts on what was supposed to be our anniversary. Let it go, Amiyah.”
“But what if I don’t want to?”
“You doing this might make her more upset in the end and that’s the last thing that I want. Did you think about that?”
“Well, no. I just want to see both of you happy and right now I feel like I’m watching a very sad episode of those soap operas that grandma likes.”
“I know, but promise me you’ll stop. It’s just…”
“It’s just what? You don’t have a secret child do you?”
“AMIYAH MARGARET!”
“What?!? I was just asking!”
“It’s nothing, now let it go and stay out of grown folks business. Your mom is the only person that I've ever gotten pregnant.”
“But you two are my business. You’re my parents.”
“You definitely got that attitude from her. It has Y/N written all over it.”
Amiyah was now back to square one with her plan, but she wasn’t giving up. She instructed her baby sister to tell their mother that she missed the two of them and to invite them over for a movie night.
“MOM, PLEASE?!”
“You’ll see your dad this weekend. You can’t wait until then?” You asked while scrolling through your phone on door dash, not wanting to cook anything for the two of you tonight.
“No! I miss him and I want to see him now!” She whined and you couldn’t for the life of you figure out what was going on between the both of your daughters lately.
“Come on, let's facetime him.”
“That’s not good enough!”
“Aaliyah, what in the world is going on with you and why are you almost twelve years old having a full blown temper tantrum?”
“I just miss daddy. I just… I never got to experience having both of you under one roof and Amiyah did. It’s just not fair.”
All you did was sigh.
You couldn’t even be mad at her about that one.
“Okay, baby. Let’s facetime him and ask him and Amiyah to come over for movie night if he isn’t doing anything. Sound like a plan?”
“Yes.” She answered while sniffling and laid her head in your lap while you began to call him.
He picked up immediately.
“What’s wrong? You have that look on your face.”
“Your youngest misses you and wants you to come over for movie night if you and Amiyah aren’t doing anything.”
“Let me talk to daddy! Hand me the phone please!” Aaliyah said while popping up from your lap and you quickly handed her the phone.
“Daddy!”
“Yes, baby girl. How are you?”
“I miss you so can you and Mimi come over so we can have pizza and watch movies?”
“I miss you too, but you know that it’s a school night, right?” Jack asked while eyeing her. One thing that the two of you always prioritized was them doing well in school.
Her smile immediately turned into a pout.
“Yes, but…”
“I’ll tell you what. Is all your homework done?”
“Yes! And I already finished studying for my test at the end of the week.”
“I expect an A on it.”
“It’s my best subject. Of course I’ll get an A.”
“Okay, we’ll be over there soon. Hand the phone back to your mom.”
“Okay!”
Aaliyah handed you back your phone and proceeded to go upstairs to her room.
“What in the world is going on with your daughters lately?” You asked while eyeing him.
“Oh, so they’re my daughters now?” Jack answered, noticing that you were wearing your favorite pair of earrings that he had bought you almost 13 years ago.
It’s been years since he saw you wear them.
“Yes, because they act just like you.”
“Mimi got that attitude from you. Let’s be clear about that.”
“Okay, now that I agree with but, Aaliyah was literally having a full blown temper tantrum until I called you. She hasn’t done that since she was six.”
“I wonder why.”
“She… she did say that she felt some type of way because Amiyah got to experience having two parents under one roof and she didn’t.”
“Oh. I can imagine that’s hard on her.”
“Yeah, but um.. You two can come over when you’re ready.”
“I’ll pick up pizza for us. Be there soon.”
“Okay.”
“IS THAT MOM?!” You heard Amiyah yell in the background before she proceeded to grab Jack’s phone without waiting for an answer.
“Hi my baby. It’s me.”
“I got an A on my science project!”
“Was that the one that I helped you with?”
“Yes, because all daddy can help me with is music class.”
“HEY! I HEARD THAT!”
“I got my brains from mom! We all know this!”
“Give your dad some credit, he’s smart too when he wants to be.”
“Y/N! Outta pocket!” Jack exclaimed and all you did was laugh.
“Hurry up and get here you two.”
“Aaliyah, baby, not again!” Jack exclaimed as she decided that she wanted to watch Encanto.
“But it’s my favorite and the two of you used to sing the songs to me when I was younger!”
“That’s all you ever pick! Do something else!” Amiyah said while stuffing her face with pizza.
“Fine, Encanto, the sing along version.”
“AALIYAH!”
“Okay fine! Princess and the Frog!”
“Now we’re talking!” Amiyah answered since that was her favorite Disney movie. The two of them purposely sat next to each other and spread out across the couch so that you and Jack had no choice but to sit next to each other too.
After the movie had gone off, you had mercy on your youngest child and let her watch Encanto next, before the girls knew it, the two of you were sleeping with Jack’s arm wrapped around you and your head was on his chest.
“Mimi, take a picture. We’re going to need this later.”
"They look so cute!"
You woke up by the sound of your two daughters and it seemed like they were arguing.
“No, Aaliyah! Not like that! Here let me help you!”
“But I can do it!”
“You’re going to drop it because it’s too heavy. You carry that and I’ll get this. Come on before they wake up.”
You were startled to find that you were in fact cuddled up against your ex-husband with your head on his chest and his arm wrapped around you and it was light outside.
“Good morning parents!” Amiyah exclaimed while setting a tray of food down in front of the two of you.
“What time is it?” Jack asked with his eyes still closed.
“Umm 9.”
“Wait a minute! You two should be in school!” Jack said, fully alert and looking at the two of them. Aaliyah noticed that his arm was still wrapped around you and smiled to herself.
“Umm, you see what had happened was…”
“Amiyah Margaret!”
“We forgot to set our alarms! We can stay home and have a family day, right?!” She asked hopeful.
“Just this once.”
“Good, because I have an entire day planned out for us.”
You and Jack immediately groaned.
“She got that from you.” Jack whispered and you immediately laughed.
“Did not, that is definitely all you.”
Over the next two months, you and Jack had been spending more and more time with each other and the girls as a family and reality was starting to hit you with how much you missed him.
You were now looking at your wedding album pictures with you and Jack and trying not to cry. It was two in the morning and you couldn’t sleep.
Aaliyah got up to go to the bathroom and saw your bedroom light on and knocked on the door.
“Mommy, can I come in? Are you okay?”
“Yeah, baby, come in.” You answered her while quickly wiping away your tears so she wouldn’t see you.
“Why aren’t you asleep?”
“I saw your light on when I went to the bathroom. What are you looking at?” She curiously asked and knew that there was no use in hiding from her.
“My wedding pictures.”
“I’ve never seen them before!”
“You want to see them? Come here.” You said and patted the space next to you and she immediately hopped up.
You turned all the way to the beginning and she was mesmerized.
“You look so pretty and… so happy.”
“I was. I definitely was.”
“Daddy looks so handsome and so excited to marry you.”
“It was an amazing day. We were actually scared that it was going to rain, since it had rained all week, but on the day of the wedding it didn’t.”
“Oh, Uncle Urban always had long hair, I see.”
“He has for the most part and he was your daddy’s best man.”
“And there’s Uncle Sunni next to him.”
“I want to show you this one, I think you’ll like it.”
You turned to the picture that showed you and Jack laying next to one another. You were looking into the camera, but Jack’s eyes were focused on you. Your youngest was already a hopeless romantic so you knew that she would love it.
“Mommy?”
“Yeah, bub?”
“Daddy still looks at you like that when you aren’t paying attention.”
It was now time for the final part of the plan and Amiyah and Aaliyah were responsible for getting both you and Jack to the backyard by 7 pm.
School had let out last week for the summer and the girls had requested that they had dinner with their parents in the backyard because of how nice it was outside.
Aaliyah was currently trying to get you to put on a dress that was similar to what you had worn on your first date with Jack while Amiyah was trying to do the same thing for him.
“You should definitely wear this one.” Aaliyah said while going into your closet and picking the dress off of the rack.
“Umm, why? It’s just going to be us, your sister, and your dad. I would usually wear that when going out to dinner, not staying in.”
“But it would look so pretty and do your hair how you had it last week. Daddy loves when you wear it like that.”
“Aaliyah, what are you up to?” You curiously asked because the last part of her statement threw you off. Since when did she notice that Jack liked your hair like that and why did she care?
“Nothing, just want you to dress up. You haven’t done it in a while and I know how happy it makes you. I’m going to wear my dress that’s similar to this one. Can you put my hair in a high ponytail when I’m ready?”
“Sure baby. Go get ready because they’ll be here soon.”
You took a quick shower and moisturized with your lavender lotion to help calm you down.
Were you actually nervous to be around your ex-husband?
You were staring at the dress that Aaliyah had laid out for you on your bed debating on whether you were going to put it on or not.
A sigh escaped from your lips as you slipped it on along with a pair of your white sandals and proceeded to sit at your vanity to start to do your hair and make up. You were thinking how you had worn it last week and then you suddenly had a realization.
The style was similar to the one that you wore on your wedding day.
As you were finishing up, Aaliyah came into your room wearing a dress similar to yours like she promised, except hers was a light purple.
“Are you ready? Amiyah text me that they’re on their way.”
“Just about, now let me do your hair for you.”
After you finished doing her hair for her, she ran down the steps as she heard the doorbell in order to answer it while you were still trying to calm your nerves.
“MOMMY! COME ON! WE’RE HUNGRY!” You heard Amiyah yell from downstairs and decided that it was now or never.
You walked downstairs to see Jack also dressed up in a similar outfit that he wore on your first date and simply eyed your daughters who had the biggest smiles on their faces.
“I-... they made you dress up too?” You asked while looking at him and took everything in you to not hop on him right then and there.
You were done with not being honest with yourself.
You missed your ex-husband.
“Amiyah wouldn’t let me leave the house until I did. She actually made me change my outfit because I was wearing something else before.”
“Well, you look nice.”
Actually he looked fine as fuck, but you didn’t want to say that in front of the girls.
“And so do you. Love when you do your hair like that.”
“I told you, mommy!” Aaliyah whispered to you and you simply smiled.
“Okay, now that we’re all here, follow us.”
“What in the world are you two up to?” Jack asked as both of you followed them to the backyard where you saw Sunni and Urban also dressed up.
“Welcome to Vincezo’s de la Harlow! Your servers tonight will be Uncle Sunni and Uncle Urban! We have a four-course meal ready for you! Have a seat at the table and we’ll bring out your drinks. We know daddy doesn’t drink alcohol, so I hope sparkling water is okay.”
Both of your jaws were on the floor.
“Go on! Don’t just stand there, sit down!” Amiyah said while smiling at her parents.
The two of you walked over to the table and Jack pulled out your chair for you before going to sit across from you.
“Uhhh Urban, Sunni? What did my daughters threaten you with to make you do this?” You asked while looking over at both of them.
“Uh, nothing. They just wanted our help.” Urban answered you while trying not to mention the fact that they knew that he and Sunni had known about Jack’s cheating ways and didn’t say anything to you.
“You seriously recreated our first date?” Jack asked while looking around at the decorations around the backyard.
“This was all them, they came up with the plan and simply asked for our help.” Sunni added while shrugging.
Amiyah came and sat two glasses filled with sparkling water in front of each of you before Urban and Sunni went back in the house which you assumed was to get the food.
“When in the world did they have time to do this? This was happening in my backyard and I literally heard nothing.”
“They probably did it while you were at the boutique earlier.”
Just then Sunni placed a plate of fried mozzarella between the two of you.
Same thing that you had on your first date.
“Wait, Sunni did you actually make this or?”
“Y/N, come on. Since when do I cook? This actually is from Vincenzo’s so the two of you won’t be poisoned by my lack of cooking skills.”
“I was just curious.” You said while holding up your hands in defense.
When Sunni walked away, it left the two of you alone.
It wasn’t an awkward silence, but you were wishing that Jack would say something.
“I now see that they’ve been planning this for months.”
“Planning what?”
“They want us back together. Did you notice that they’ve been wanting to spend more time with us? I think this is the most time we’ve spent together since before we were divorced.” Jack said while reaching for another piece of fried mozzarella.
“And the time where Aaliyah had a temper tantrum because she missed you? Movie night? Then probably purposely not setting their alarms to spend the day with us? It makes sense.”
“Aaliyah told me that you showed her our wedding pictures not too long ago.”
“I did. And that was actually the first time that I’ve looked at them in ten years.”
“I would’ve thought that you would have put it in a place where you knew that you would forget about them.”
“Why? Why would I do that?”
“Don’t you regret marrying me?”
“No, not even for a second. That thought has NEVER crossed my mind. Besides giving me my two beautiful girls, I’m still very thankful to have been married to you.”
“That feels good to hear you say.”
“Despite what happened and why it ended, there should be no doubt in your mind how much I love you and how much I care about you still. That just doesn’t go away overnight.”
“And apparently it doesn’t go away in ten years either. But we’ve done a good job with co-parenting them.”
“I agree.”
“Wait, did you say you love me and care about me? Like present tense?” Jack asked suddenly, having a realization of what you had just said.
You simply nodded.
“You do not know how hard it was for me to file for divorce. I found out that I was pregnant and my mind was on overdrive. At that time, I didn’t think that I would regret it.”
“How do you feel about it now?”
“Before Aaliyah came in and saw the wedding pictures, I was looking at them and crying and thinking to myself where did I go wrong to have you cheat on me?”
“No, absolutely not. You didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t ever think that. I was just so wrapped up in focusing on myself, I forgot what was really important and that was you. I regret doing that every single day. All I ever wanted was for you to find somewhere in your heart to forgive me for treating you like that.”
“But I have forgiven you. I forgave you a long time ago because it was not doing me any good to hold onto that hurt. The best thing for me was to move on.”
“But you haven’t moved on, neither of us have.”
“Because I knew deep down that I couldn’t imagine myself being married to anyone else.”
After the two of you had finished dessert, you were simply looking up at the stars that were covering the sky and sighed to yourself.
“I have to ask…” You heard Jack say and you looked over at him to give him your full attention.
“Ask, what?”
“Could we maybe go out on an actual date? Without our girls around? You said that you forgave me for what I did, so I’m asking for a second chance.”

Falling into Place
A/N: thank you so much to everyone reading my Eddie pieces and for requesting a second part! Not gonna lie, my mental health is taking a dip at the moment so please bear with me if I’m absent a little bit going forward. As always, please reblog and comment 😊
Part two of “We Aren’t Friends.”
Pairing: Eddie x Fem!Reader
Warnings: swearing, mentions of drug use
Tumblr media
You handed in your project to your teacher the next day, having stayed up all night finishing it. You actually finished it not too long after Eddie left but you weren’t able to fall asleep so you just kept trying to touch it up.
“And Eddie actually helped you?” The teacher asked, rightfully suspicious of the two time senior.
“Yeah, we met up every day actually to work on it. He was a big help.” Not a complete lie.
“I’ll have the grade back to you by the end of the week then. Good job, (Y/N).” You just simply smiled and went back to your seat.
Eddie walked in only moments later and his eyes found yours out of habit. You quickly looked away, fidgeting with the pencil on your notebook. You didn’t noticed how the boy sighed and trudged to his seat not far from your own. You thought he might say something to you and you were disappointed when he didn’t.
You swore the class would never end. You could feel Eddie’s stare burning a hole into the back of your head, but you refused to turn around and acknowledge him. Pretend like the other didn’t exist, that’s what you had said.
But maybe you were regretting it. You wanted to talk to your fluffy haired friend, but you weren’t friends anymore, we’re you? Not thanks to you.
After an excruciating hour, the bell finally rang. You grabbed your things and sprinted out of the room before everyone else. You knew people were staring at you but you didn’t care.
Lunch was the period you were dreading most. Eddie usually put on a little performance or speech and you didn’t want to watch today. You decided to take solace in your car, picking apart your food that you weren’t really hungry for.
You happened to look out your window and saw Chrissy heading back into the school. You didn’t think she drove so you were curious. You looked to where she was heading from and saw Eddie hopping out of his van. You rolled your eyes- of course, had to sneak away for a quickie during school.
He took a minute before heading back to school grounds, looking across the lot. His eyes locked with yours and he instantly froze. You shook your head and looked away, putting your lunch back in your bag. Against your better judgement, you turned on the ignition and drove off. You had never skipped school before but it was much needed.
The rest of the week you managed to avoid Eddie fairly well. You only saw him in class, and occasionally in the halls, choosing to eat your lunch in the library. Things were getting a little easier for you day by day, but the same couldn’t be said for Eddie.
He was mad, mostly at himself. He was mad that he blew you off in the lunch room that day but he was even more angry at the fact that he let himself feel hope- hope that he had made a new friend and hope that there may be something more there. But with the way you cut him off, he knew he was entirely wrong.
“Dude, you have to stop sulking!” Dustin whined before their campaign was set to begin. “She’s just a girl.”
“How would you feel if Suzie broke up with you?” Eddie asked, annoyed with the freshman.
“But she didn’t break up with you. You weren’t even dating,” Lucas told him.
“I do not need to be lectured by freshman right now!” Eddie ran his ringed fingers through his hair. The younger boys shut up, but not before mumbling something about Eddie being whipped and royally fucking up.
Eddie even complained to Chrissy about it- telling her they had to be more careful about meeting up because it upset you. They decided it would be best if he would just leave her purchase somewhere for her to grab, her doing the same with his money. She didn’t want to be seen either, her little problem needing to stay a secret.
That Friday, you were counting down the minutes until you got to leave for the weekend. You were hoping everything would go off without a hitch but it was never that simple.
“(Y/N), Eddie, I need to see you after class.” You finally dared to look at Eddie for the first time that week. He was already staring at you and gave you a sad smile. You turned back around with a sigh. The minutes ticked by as your anxiety rose more and more. Once the bell rang, you found yourself standing in front of your teacher, next to Eddie, close enough to almost touch.
“I just wanted to tell the two of you how fantastic your project was. And Eddie, (Y/N) assured me that you helped out and I’m very proud of you. You two make a great pair,” she said. You did your best to muster up a fake smile but Eddie seemed genuinely pleased. “Alright, off to your next class.”
“Yes, ma’am,” you said quietly. You left the room quickly, but Eddie’s long strides were no match for you.
“Can you please wait?” He asked, grabbing your hand to stop you.
“I don’t have time, Eddie. I have to get to class,” you protested.
“Considering you skipped the whole second half of the day earlier this week, I think you can handle being a few minutes late.”
“Oh fuck off, that was a one time thing,” you scoffed.
“Like us?” He asked.
“What do you mean ‘like us’?”
“Like, was our friendship just a one time thing? Because I really don’t want it to be. I miss you,” he almost whispered. He fiddled with his rings nervously waiting for you to respond.
“I miss you too,” you admitted for the first time openly. He looked up with a hopeful smile. “But that doesn’t change anything. I’m sorry.”
You ran to the bathroom before he could say anything else. You had convinced yourself you were too different to be real friends and your feelings may have scared you a little bit. A noise in the stall behind you scared you even more though, causing you to jump.
“Oh hey, (Y/N), right?” Chrissy asked. Of course she’d be in there.
“Chrissy.” You gave a curt nod and decided it would be best to find somewhere else to hide. As you made a beeline for the door, her voice stopped you.
“I’m not involved with Eddie!” She said quickly. You turned around, shocked.
“Excuse me?”
“I just wanted you to know, he and I are strictly business. But don’t tell anyone!”
“Um sure?” You were confused why she even cared.
“It’s just… he’s been miserable lately and he kinda told me you were upset because you thought he and I were a thing. He’s a good guy and he deserves to be happy. And so do you.” You never expected those words to come from her mouth.
“Well thanks, I guess.” She smiled at you softly before exiting the bathroom ahead of you. You sat there for a minute to gather your thoughts.
Did this really change anything? He still blew you off in the lunch room and for a drug deal. You were acquaintances and nothing more. But you felt more. And maybe so did he. There was only one way to find out. Ask him.
But you weren’t up for that. Not yet. You needed to take the weekend to process everything and make a decision. You just had to make it through the rest of the day.
You decided to eat lunch in the cafeteria, needing the noise of the crowd to drown your thoughts. Eddie was perched at the head of his club’s table and he stopped talking the minute he saw you come in. His friends followed his gaze and just sighed, wishing for the misery to end.
You sat with your usual group, most of whom were busy studying for exams. You couldn’t tear your eyes away from Eddie. He kept looking at you as well and it made you nervous. You began to play with your bottom lip, chewing on your nails every now and again.
“She looks like she wants to say something to me, right?” Eddie asked no one in particular.
“Pretty sure if she wanted to talk to you she would,” Mike said. Eddie glared at him. “You asked!”
“Why does she keep staring at me then?” The guys looked at each other and started to snicker and laugh. “Okay don’t answer that. Assholes.”
He suddenly got tense, seeing you rise from your seat. You walked toward him, eyes locked on his. His heart began to race and he wiped his sweaty palms on his ripped jeans.
Just as he thought you were about to stop and talk to him, you just walked right past. You were close enough that he could smell your sweet shampoo and perfume. He had teased you once about smelling too girly but secretly he loved it, especially when it would linger on his jacket after you borrowed it in the chilly library a few times.
“Ouch, that was harsh,” Dustin mumbled. Eddie watched as you exited the cafeteria, just before the bell rang.
You had every intention of going up to Eddie and talking to him. Just to say hi even. But as you got closer, you were worried he would shrug you off again and you couldn’t deal with that. You’d have to muster up the courage to talk to him some other time.
The rest of the day flew by and you wanted nothing more than to race home and lock the door to the world for a few days. You practically ran to your car but stopped when you noticed a piece of paper on your windshield. You carefully grabbed it and opened it up. Inside the words “tomorrow night?” were sloppily written.
You checked the backside and the front again to make sure there was no other message. Tomorrow night what? It made no sense.
You looked around and, upon seeing no one, shoved the paper in your bag and got in your car. Maybe someone placed it there by mistake or it was a really bad joke. Or maybe someone was going to murder you the following evening. No one could know for sure.
You weren’t particularly worried and your parents were gone for the weekend so you had the house to yourself to relax and do whatever you wanted. And all you wanted to do was relax, listen to some music, and watch your favorite movies.
So when the next night rolled around, you had completely forgotten about the weird note on your car. You snuggled into bed somewhat early, curling up with your most recent choice of novel. You were lost in your fantasy world when you heard a soft tapping. You ignored it until it got louder.
Your book was tossed across the room as you screamed, seeing a face peering in from your window. He looked apologetic, and motioned for you to open up.
“I do have a front door, you know!” You yelled as Eddie climbed into your room.
“Didn’t you get my note?” He asked.
“That was you? How was I supposed to know that meant you’d be trying to break into my house!” He looked terribly confused.
“It should have said ‘I’ll be at your window tomorrow night at 8.’ Did it not?” He asked.
“Uh no. Did you not write your own note?”
“I’m gonna kill him. I may have been running short on time so I asked Henderson to write it and stick it on your car which was apparently a mistake,” he sighed. Both of you stood in an awkward silence, neither of you knowing what to say.
“Soooo what’s the reason you’re stalking me again?” You finally asked. He let out a snort.
“I guess I kinda am, huh?” He laughed. “I just really miss you.”
“Maybe we’ll get paired up on another project before we graduate. She seemed to like how we worked together,” you suggested.
“You know that’s not what I meant. I really thought we were friends,” he said.
“I thought so too until I was blown off twice in one day. And Chrissy already told me you two aren’t involved, so save me that speech. Not like I’d care,” you scoffed, trying to play it off like you weren’t jealous.
“She did? Well it’s true, she’s just a client. And I regret blowing you off in the cafeteria. It was a mistake. I just wanted to protect you,” he said.
“Protect me from what?”
“The crooked stares. The bullying. The judgement for being friends with the freak.” You sighed and sat on your bed, patting the spot next to you which he gladly took.
“You’re not a freak. It was my decision in the first place to be seen with you. I don’t give a shit what anyone has to say about you and besides, we graduate in a few months anyway. They’ll go on to lead incredibly mediocre lives and you’ll be some rockstar somewhere.”
A huge smile broke out over Eddie’s face and you couldn’t help but smile too.
“I also may have over-reacted a bit. It’s just- it would be easier if we went back to pretending like the other doesn’t exist.”
“I’ve always known you existed,” he mumbled.
“No, I know-”
“No, you don’t.” He played with his rings nervously as you waited for him to explain. “I may have asked for you to be my partner on this project. The teacher came to me and asked who I thought could actually help me and I chose you.”
“That’s very nice, Eddie. Thank you for thinking I’m smart.” He reached over slowly and grabbed your hand. When you didn’t pull away, he continued.
“It’s not just because you’re smart. You’re gorgeous and likable. You’re soft and sweet. You’re everything I’m not and I thought the only way I’d ever get to talk to you was if we absolutely had to. So I may have let my little crush help sway my decision,” he admitted. Butterflies erupted in your stomach and you didn’t know what to say. With every passing second, Eddie regretted what he said more and more.
“I’ve always admired you.”
“Why?” He didn’t believe that he was admirable at all.
“Because you’re so confident and loud. You’re hilarious and don’t take anyone’s shit. You’re everything I’m not,” you said with a smile.
“I’m not as confident as you think. Didn’t even have the balls to ask out the girl I like,” he chuckled.
“Why not give it a try?” You asked quietly. You bit your lip and looked up at him. His grip on your hand tightened and he took a deep breath.
“Would you maybe want to go out with me?”
“I would love to,” you answered. “And I don’t give a fuck what anyone has to say about it.”
Eddie jumped off of your bed and did a dance around your room. You just smiled and shook your head at him.
“Just one request!” He stopped dancing and looked at you. “Please just use the front door from now on.”
He practically pounced on you, pushing you back onto the bed. He peppered your face with kisses through your giggles.
“Now what’s the fun in that, princess?” He placed a sweet kiss on your lips and it felt like everything was falling into place.

I am filled with excitement, nerves, dread, and pride to announce that I am taking part in the @mlbigbang this year. Starting January 8, I will be posting my Sabine fic, A Small but Stubborn Fire! AHHHHHH!
First, the team! The incomparable @uptoolateart beta read my fic, and helped shepherd it along. I've also got @naz-artz and @izanogi helping me bring visuals to Sabine's story. So many others have helped in great and small ways, and I'm overwhelmed with the support the community has given me since I decided to write my lil story. Which became a big story.
Synopsis: What if you were the parent of a teenage superhero, but didn't know they were? All you know is the nightmares, the panic attacks, and the bruises. She's missing school, she's disappearing on you, and she's not telling you anything.
So you assume the worst: Assault. Depression. She doesn't trust you anymore.
And what do you do when you realize you weren't thinking dark enough? That your fourteen-year old daughter is the hero who flirts with death on the nightly news.
More below the fold:
AO3-Style Tags: Marinette & Sabine; Tom/Sabine; minor Adrienette; Marinette Dupain Cheng; Sabine Cheng; Tom Dupain; Adrien Agreste; Rolland Dupain; Gina Dupain; Good Mother Nathalie Sancoeur; Sabine's mother!; Sabine's sister!; angst; hurt/comfort; Chinese culture; happy ending; inter-generational trauma; Sabine's mom, Gabriel, and Tomoe should start a Bad Parents Club; SABINE KNOWS KUNG FU; IDENTITY REVEAL; IDENTITY SHENANIGANS; SO MUCH DRAMATIC IRONY; Nobody better forget Marinette is half-Chinese; etc.
Excerpt:
She was surprised at how easy she found it to invade Marinette’s privacy this morning, and how quick she was to turn critical. It was Marinette’s diary, after all—she could write as sloppy as she wanted. Trust her.
“I’ll be back down in a sec, Alya. I can’t believe I forgot my backpack!” shouted Marinette from a few feet away. Sabine startled, but couldn’t see any way to avoid getting caught.
“Maman! What are you doing?!”
She spun around, schooling her face not to betray her guilt. “I thought I had left my ring up here last night after your latest nightmare. I was hoping you’d found it but forgotten it on your desk.”
Marinette ran over and scooped her diary up from her desk, closed it, and hugged it to her chest. ”The ring…on your finger?”
“What?” Caught. Sabine looked down at her trembling fingers. “Yes! Oh, haha! Silly me, it was right there the whole time! Oh, please don’t tell your father, he’ll tease me for days.”
“...right.” Marinette shifted from one foot to the other, seemingly unable to stay still. Sabine wondered if it was just the invasion of privacy that had Marinette anxious.
Marinette gulped loudly. She slapped her free hand over her mouth and laughed nervously. Then she spun around and rushed to her backpack, sliding the diary inside.
Sabine was proud of herself that in the end she hadn’t peeked, but at the same time she wished her eyes had accidentally scanned a few pages. She wanted the knowledge, but knew she shouldn’t get it this way.
She walked to the attic door and stepped through to the ladder. As she took the rungs one at a time, she ran her hand along the trim of the door, feeling the wood grain beneath her fingers, and she paused. “Marinette? You know I love you very much, right?”
“Of course!”
“And you don’t think I’m too hard on you?”
Marinette tilted her head and looked at her, her eyes revealing confusion and concern. “No, not at all! Maman, is there something wrong?“
Sabine angled her face down when she realized she was straining to smile. She inspected the ladder like she needed to pay attention while she descended, as if she hadn’t been doing this every day for years.
“No, nothing’s wrong. Sometimes parents want what’s best for their kids but don’t know if they’re doing the right thing.”
She heard Marinette shuffle toward the hatch and felt a hand slide over hers . There was Marinette, crouched low, moving her forehead in to touch hers, smiling broadly.
“I’m so happy you’re my mother. Don’t worry about a thing; I’m not going anywhere.” Her phone tolled with incoming messages, probably from Alya. “Ahhh!!! Except to school! Because I’m late! And grounded! Move, Maman!”

Jalentines day when????
"I thought you were gonna ask me to be your valentine," Mal admits. "I was dreading it all day. I thought I was gonna puke at lunch when those girls came in to do the candy-grams."
Jay slows down, which is the absolute last thing Mal wants him to do. They're so close to home, to her and Evie's room, to safety from the potential humiliation of the hallways.
"Killer..."
He's giving her that little half-smile, the one that shouldn't make her stomach flip anymore.
Mal rolls her eyes back into her head just so she can stop looking at him. She's going to be expelled if he keeps up with all this looking. There's things that are decent to do in the hallway, and then there's the thoughts that pop into Mal's head when Jay does that little half-smile, and the two categories are like a pen diagram. A van diagram? They're like the nerd shit where the two circles don't touch.
"Shut up, I know," Mal groans, and very carefully doesn't think about anything else Jay's mouth could do that makes her groan. "Don't humiliate me more."
Jay stops walking entirely, and turns to face her.
Oh, no. Oh, no no no. Mal is not mentally prepared to handle this, not today. Not when she's been accosted by love on all sides for the whole day, and she's so close to home free, where she can eat unholy amounts of discount chocolate from the student government booth and maybe throw the gross ones with nuts at Carlos, who's going to show up in her room at some point whether she invites him or not.
Jay's smile is turning sort of wobbly around the edges. "We've been together for like three years, killer. I thought you being my valentine was a given."
"No."
His smile slides off entirely, which, okay, is something that makes Mal feel a little bit glad. She shouldn’t be the only one who’s caught off-guard and off-balance by this stupid holiday. "Yeah? I didn't know you needed a candy-gram to make it official."
“I don’t need anything to make it official, because we’re not valentines,” Mal snaps. “Because valentine’s day is a stupid Auradon holiday and we’re better than them and it’s not like I’d want to be treated like a princess anyway.”
Jay’s smile oozes back onto his face like an oil spill, dark and shining and dangerous. “You’re not a princess. I’d never make the mistake of treating you like one, killer.”
Mal graciously allows him to back her up, until they’re pressed tight into the space next to one of the suits of armor. “Damn right I’m not.”
“You’re a fucking dragon. A vicious,” Jay dips his head down, so that they’re eye-to-eye, mouth-to-mouth. “Cold-blooded villain.”
Mal will not be the one to break and kiss him first, because flattery aside, they still have a matter to take care of. “I’m evil, I know. Enough with the flattery, Jaybird. You were really going to ask me to be your valentine?”
“I didn’t think I had to ask!”
“You assumed?” Mal arches a single perfect brow, which yeah, maybe she let Evie pluck into perfection last night. Sue her. It’s not like she’s totally invulnerable to stupid, cheesy Auradon holidays. “You know what they say about assumptions.”
Jay pulls back. “Let’s pretend I don’t, M, because I’m pretty fucking confused what you’re actually going for here. Are you mad at me because I didn’t ask you to be my valentine, or because I wanted to?”
“Does that question even make sense?”
“I don’t know!” Jay leans back even more, until he can rip the beanie off his head (gray, because of course he’s not going to wear the red one on the day that everyone in the school is wearing red, because he’s a villain, and he’s got to stay unpredictable like that) and shove a hand through the tangled mess of his hair underneath. “I thought– I don’t know! That we were supposed to be valentines by default! I was gonna give you all the chocolate I stole from the student gov kids once we got back to your room, and like, maybe I was gonna see how some of it tastes from your mouth, I dunno!”
Oh.
Shit.
“You stole chocolate for me?” Mal asks, squashing down the fluttery feeling in her chest. She doesn’t need any stupid butterflies in her stomach. She’s got more than enough chocolate in her backpack to kill the whole pack of them, and she’ll eat it with or without Jay there. “I thought you were done with that shit. You’ve been doing the whole perfect Auradon boy thing for months now.”
“Killer.”
“Don’t look at me like that.”
Jay’s eyes go even more liquid. “Dragon.”
“No, nope, I can’t handle any emotions outside of my room, I have an appearance to maintain.”
“I stole so much chocolate for you.” Jay croons, cradling the words in the curve of the smile that’s back again and threatening to take over his face. “I had to get a second bag to fit all the chocolate I stole. Because you’re my va–”
Mal shoves her hand over his mouth before he can finish the terrible (wonderful) word. “I said no more emotions in the hallway!”
Jay licks her hand without a single sign of repentance for his crimes. “Fine, take me to your bedroom first. I’ll tell you you’re my valentine wherever you want me to.”
“Ugh.”
“You love it.”
“I love… free chocolate.”
“Aw, I didn’t know I was getting a new pet name today. You’re the best, killer.”
Mal rolls her eyes, but this time it’s to push back the totally un-villainous smile she can feel creeping onto her own face. “Back to my room, freebie. I’ll let you have your gross mushy feelings all over me once we’re out of sight.”
“Aww, romantic.”
“I hate you.”
“You love me.”
“I guess I do,” Mal admits. “Even if Auradon valentine’s is a stupid holiday and I’d rather die than have somebody sing a candy gram song about me.”
“Oh, let me just call something off real quick–”
Mal hip-checks him into the suit of armor. It makes a truly spectacular crash, which really feels like the spirit of the holiday. A spectacular, public mess of things. “I’m going to eat all the chocolate I stole for you by myself if you don’t get a move on, Jaybird.”
Jay bounces up again, and throws the helmet of the armor towards one of the stupidly delicate vases at the other end of the hallway, next to Audrey and Hannah’s room. “Race you there?”

Hi! I recently read everything you have on Hugo and I adore both him and your writing style so much! All the characters in your writing feel so vivid!
You mentioned in a headcanon post that when they were younger Hugo thought the reader was annoying since he couldn’t drink or hit on girls when they’re around
Since it discovered this information my brain keeps making me think about the reader overhearing Hugo complaining to his friends about them so I just wanted your opinion on what you think would happen to calm my brain down because I seriously cannot get my head to stop making up many many angsty scenarios about this!!! Especially when I’m about to go to sleep!
Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into your stories and sorry for the long ask, have a great day/night!
I hope this helps you get some sleep, lol!
You were walking around Hugo’s house to the backyard and you overheard him talking to some of his friends, you stop just around the corner when you hear your name mentioned
They were complaining that he never hangs out with them anymore and when he does it’s always with you, a dumb kid, in their words, so they can’t have any fun
Hugo wanting to fit in complains that you are impossible to shake off, just a dumb kid that won’t leave him alone
Of course, you are devastated and run back home, rushing past your parents to your bedroom to collapse into tears
A few days go by and you still don’t feel better. Food doesn’t taste good, you don’t want to watch cartoons, or play with your dolls. You feel like a dumb baby and wish you could be more grown up
At first Hugo enjoys spending a day with his friends without you, he feels like he can be a real teenager, but after a few days he starts to worry where you’ve been.
He knows your parents aren’t the best (sometimes they forget to feed you and often leave you home alone, even though you are too young to be without a babysitter) and worries you’ve gotten into trouble or something has happened to you. When he goes out with his friends all he can think about is you and what might be wrong
Finally, he can’t hold down his worry and heads over to your house to check on you
Your parents are very anti-were people so they send him away, telling him to leave you alone, which only makes him worry even more
He ends up seeing you at the little park down the street, you’re swinging on a swing set, but just kind of drifting back and forth, not really enthusiastic about it
When you first see him approaching you immediately jump off the swing and run to hide in the play set, curling up in one of the little hidey-holes
Hugo is confused because normally you are thrilled to see him, so he wonders what’s changed and a bolt of dread shoots down his spine, thinking you’ve grown out of him and don’t like him anymore
He follows you over and peeks in, but you turn your back to him, which only makes him feel more worried
He asks you if you are trying to play hide and seek with him and when you just shake your head and start crying a bit, he knows something is wrong, so he reaches in and fishes you out, sitting you on his lap
He tries to bribe you with ice cream, but you aren’t having it and just continue to cry on his lap, so not sure what else to do he hugs you really tight and pats your head
He ends up begging you to tell him what’s wrong, asking you if it was something your parents did or someone bullying you at school
You are so embarrassed and overcome with sadness you don’t know what to say and instead snap at him that he’s a big meanie and you’re not friends anymore before dissolving back into tears
Of course he’s very upset by this, because he can’t imagine what he could have done to make you angry with him
He promises you if you just tell him what’s wrong he’ll fix it for you and with a lot of coaxing he manages to get out of you that you think he thinks you’re a baby and you wish you were grown up (in your mind teenager is very grown up) so he will want to play with you
He’s not sure where this is all coming from, but he tries to assure you that he likes playing with you and he missed you when you were avoiding him
You argue back that that’s not what he told his grown up friends and suddenly he realizes that you overheard him talking with them and feels horrible
He’s not sure how to fix it, but to make you feel better, and because it is mostly true, he promises you that you are his best friend and he was stupid for saying those things. He tells you sometimes grown ups say things they don’t mean and don’t really believe when they are trying to fit in.
You’re still skeptical, but you stop crying at least and ask him if he wishes you were grown up
He tells you he likes that you are little because he can do this…he stands up and tosses you up in the air and catches you again, before spinning you around in circles by your arms, until you can’t hold in your giggles any longer and he’s put a big smile on your face.
When he puts you down again he wipes the tears and snot off of your face with his shirt and tells you the two of you can hang out together all day, with no one else, and do whatever you want to do to make up for it
You decide to extort him for ice cream and make him chase down the ice cream truck and buy you whatever you want. You end up eating ice creams together on the curb, while you tell him about things that would be important to a little kid (stuff you learned at school, what’s happening with your favorite cartoon, etc.) until it gets dark and you get full and sleepy.
Since your parents aren’t home (they usually spend their evenings at bars and you’ve come over to his house many times, hungry when they neglected you) he lets you fall asleep in his arms and he carries you home and tucks you into bed (He knows where your parents hide the spare key under a potted plant).
After that he never lets his friends talk bad about you again and comes to the realization that he cares more about what you think of him than what they think of him.

requested by @omgyoufoundnemostufff : I was wondering if you could do an Eddie x Henderson!reader with prompts 3, 37 and 40, where the reader has an argument with her mom and she disappears and Dustin thinks it could be something really bad seeing as his older sister hasn’t turned up for school and hasn’t returned home in what must seem like weeks, he remembers the time Will disappeared and starts to get really worried about her, that's until he finds her at Eddie’s trailer and their secret relationship is out in the open.
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: eddie munson x fem!reader
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: dustin’s been worried about his older sister because he hasn’t heard from her since she and their mom got into a fight. worried, he turns to his friend and is met with a surprising sight
𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: fluff, tiny tiny angst, henderson!reader, secret relationships, fighting with parents, running away (not actually), dustin being slightly traumatized
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 2783 (is it obvious that i am incapable of writing short stories?)
𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: as always, feedback is golden! feel free to send me a request, guidelines here and check out my other eddie fics here! p.s. for those who read daughter of a cop part 1 and part 2, what would you like to see for part 3?
buy me a coffee ☕️!
The day couldn’t have gone better for Dustin. When he woke up, the skies were clear, and the birds were singing. At school, he got back the Spanish quiz he had dreaded, and miraculously, he passed with flying colors. Then at lunch, the cafeteria ladies gave him two chocolate puddings instead of one, and the rest of the day went by absolutely swimmingly.
That was, of course, until he got home. He had plans to call Suzie as her dad finally ungrounded her for changing Dustin’s Spanish grade. At least she wouldn’t have to worry about that anymore with his dazzling A+ smack dab on the front of his paper.
Dustin had a pep in his step as he approached the front porch. All the world was in bright colors then he heard it - yelling.
Thinking something was afoot, he rushed into the house, tossing his backpack aside. Before he struck, he glanced around, looking for a weapon. The only thing in sight was the candlestick on the table near the front door. It wasn’t the best option, but something was better than nothing.
“Whoever’s in here, be prepared to face my wrath!”
Dustin ran into the living room with closed eyes and swinging arms. The yelling paused, and Dustin stopped, keeping his arms ready for an attack as he squinted one eye open.
Instead of a hostile force at work, it was just you and your mom. You raised an eyebrow at Dustin’s odd behavior, and your mom just pursed her lips, squinting her eyes at him.
“Dusty, sweetie,” your mom inquired as she tilted her head, “What are you doing?”
“You guys- I thought- wait, what?” He shook his head, now sharing both of your confused looks. “I heard yelling.”
“So, what, you thought a,” you glanced down at his ‘weapon’ discerningly, “candlestick would help you?“
Dustin looked at his weapon and realized you were right, but he would never admit that aloud, so he shrugged. “Better than nothing.”
“Right…”
“That’s beside the point. Why were you two yelling?” Dustin directed the attention back to you two, which reminded you of the previous discussion.
You wanted to tell him it was nothing, but your mom beat you to the punch and most certainly did not say that. “Your sister’s just being stubborn, Dusty.”
You groaned, planting your face in your hands. “I’m not being stubborn, Mom. I don’t see why it’s such a big deal.”
“What’s a big deal?” Dustin asked, and you, again, wanted nothing more for him to remove himself from the conversation. Both you and your mom ignored him.
“Oh, Y/N,” your mom frowned as she petted not-Mews. “Why won’t you just tell me who you’re dating?”
Your mouth fell open in shock as your widened eyes stared at her. Of all things she could have said around any person, she said those words around Dustin. You spared a look to your younger brother, and at first, he looked just as shocked as you at your mom’s choice of words. Note: at first.
You watched as his shocked expression slowly morphed into amusement and immense curiosity. Then he was grinning like the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. “You’re dating someone?!”
You internally groaned, mentally facepalming, “No, Dustin, I am not dating anyone. Mom,” you said pointedly, “is just making assumptions.”
She tilted her head with a knowing look, “Well, that’s not what Joyce told me…”
“Joyce?!” You sputtered, “Why are you talking about my love life with Mrs. Byers?!” You couldn’t believe the words that kept spewing from her mom. When your mom said she wanted to talk, you certainly weren’t expecting this kind of talk, and certainly not with your little brother around.
“So you admit it?” Dustin’s wide eyes caught your gaze, and the second choice of words you regretted of the day was yours. “You are dating someone?”
“What? No!” You huffed, pinching the bridge of your nose as if that would make the pending conversation end. “It’s nothing.”
“Doesn’t seem like nothing.” Sometimes it felt like Dustin and your mom were always teaming up on you, and this was definitely one of those times.
You couldn’t believe that for one: your mom would even bring this up or talk about it with other people. You knew that the moms around here, especially you and your friends’ moms, were nosey and gossiped like they were getting paid, but you hadn’t expected this. And two: that your mom would talk about in front of Dustin, who endlessly teases you (as a younger sibling would) and who also didn’t know how to keep his mouth shut.
All of that, coupled with the thought of everyone knowing that you were maybe dating someone and the general shittiness of your day - because, unlike your little brother, your day could not have gone worse - sent you over the teeny, tiny edge.
“Why do you always do this?” You tried to soothe the headache that had already made its presence known. “Can’t I get a tiny ounce of privacy? And I’m not saying that I am dating someone, but that’s none of your goddamn business.”
“Y/N!” Your mom scolded, and this time, she was disappointed, but you were already upset. You felt bad for cursing at her, but she knew how she felt about privacy, yet, she was always violating it.
“It’s true. I have had a really, excuse my language, shitty day, and I didn’t want to come home and have my mom and little brother harassing me about whether or not I’m dating someone. And then,” you paced back and forth, voice raising as you ranted, “I hear that you’re talking about it with other people, and it’s like, ‘what about respecting my privacy?’ ”
“And you know what? Even if I were dating someone, I would never freaking tell you because neither of you knows how to keep a secret or, again, respect my privacy and feelings! And, it’s so frustrating, and oh my god!”
You let out a sigh of relief after getting everything you’d been dying to say aloud off your chest. You stopped pacing, pressing your hands to your face to quell the warmth that arrived during your outburst.
When you turned around to face them, they both wore ‘O’-shaped expressions. It seemed neither of them had anything to say. Neither did you, so you took that as your cue to leave. Even though you were glad to have finally voiced your grievances, you felt equally embarrassed and guilty for yelling at them.
The front door slammed shut, announcing your very warranted departure. After you left, Dustin placed the candlestick on the coffee table and turned to your mom. “I think we made her mad.”
She nodded, “I think so too, Dusty.”
After the fight, Dustin was fine. Well, he felt guilty for making you upset and also because you felt like you couldn't tell him anything. But Dustin figured you would come back the next day. When he thought about it, you always went to a friend’s anytime you needed to blow off steam or get away from everything for a little while. And when he really thought about it, he had never met this secret friend of yours.
But then, a day passed, and another and another, and Dustin began thinking something was afoot. It wasn’t like you to go this long without checking in on him.
He would only admit this if someone held him hostage, which almost happened a time or two, but you were his best friend. You were the first friend he ever had. Even now, when you both had your own friends, you would always be each other’s best friend. Naturally, he was worried about you. You were also his older sister, so worrying was totally normal. At least, that’s what he told himself.
He didn’t bring it up to his friends because he was sure they would tell him you were fine, and yeah, he wanted to believe that, but at the same time, what if you weren’t? By the fifth day, he really began to worry. You hadn’t been to school, at least to his knowledge. You always came to torment him at lunch, and you wouldn’t just stop. You were his older sister, after all.
Dustin couldn’t stand it anymore, and even though he knew that their problems from the Upside Down and all the monsters and gooey shit were over and done, he needed to talk to someone. So, he went to the one person he knew wouldn’t think he was crazy.
Eddie was setting up the VHS while he watched for the popcorn to finish popping. He didn’t read the instructions the first time, so the burnt smell was still wafting through the trailer. Nothing open windows and a candle going wouldn’t fix.
Something was wrong with the TV because all he was getting was static. His brows furrowed, and he smacked the side of the TV in frustration. The static disappeared, and he grinned. “Hah! You thought you were going to get the best of me? I’m Eddie the Banished! No one can-”
In the middle of Eddie’s monologue, the trailer door flung open. He chuckled nervously, embarrassed to have been caught. Eddie ducked down to check that all the cords were in the right place and to hide his reddening face. “Sorry, sweetheart, didn’t think you’d be back so quickly.”
“Sweetheart?” Dustin’s feet entered Eddie’s periphery, and Eddie jumped up so quickly that he whacked his head on the open cabinet above him.
“Henderson!” The brunet stared at the other brunet with widened eyes. He rubbed the sore spot on the top of his head as he leaned on the TV. “What are you doing here?”
Dustin raised his eyebrows at Eddie’s odd behavior. “Why did you call me sweetheart?”
“What?” Eddie pulled Dustin’s hat over his eyes, resulting in the boy swatting at him like a fly. “Don’t like your new nickname?”
“No. Definitely not in the mood for nicknames.” Dustin moved to sit down on the couch, tossing his bag on the floor. “We need to talk.”
“Make yourself at home,” Eddie mumbled before plopping down on the couch next to Dustin, “And what do we need to talk about, little sheep?” “I need to talk to you about Y/N.”
Eddie stared at Dustin for a few seconds in complete silence. Once he recovered from his shock, he swallowed the lump in his throat and cleared it. “You mean, Y/N, your sister, Y/N?”
Dustin rolled his eyes, “No, Eddie, I’m talking about the librarian.” Eddie breathed a sigh of relief, wiping away the imaginary sweat from his brow. “Of course, I’m talking about my sister.”
And just like that, the previous stress Eddie felt returned.
“Y/N? Why-” Eddie spotted your easily recognizable sweatshirt from Camp Know Where during the one summer you went to volunteer on the ground. He discreetly kicked it under the couch, hoping one: Dustin wouldn’t see it, and, two: the couch had no dust bunnies hiding underneath. He really didn’t want to be killed if he ruined your sweatshirt. “Why do you wanna talk about Y/N?”
Dustin didn’t see it and rested his head against the couch cushions instead. “I’ve been worried about her.” Eddie furrowed his brows, thinking that something was wrong. “She hasn’t been home for a few days, and I keep thinking something’s wrong.”
Oh, Eddie thought. Oh, indeed. Eddie hadn’t been expecting him to say that when Dustin said he wanted to talk about you.
Eddie really didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t exactly tell his young friend that while he had been worrying about his sister, his sister was hanging out with him.
As if the gods heard his cries for help - correction, they weren’t cries; they were screams - the trailer door opened for a second time.
You were juggling a few plastic bags and a pizza box. The box covered your face, making you enter the trailer blindly. That meant that you didn’t know that you weren't talking to Eddie only.
“Hey, sorry it took me so long. The pizza place gave me the wrong pizza. Who the hell eats olives with their pizza, anyway? That’s disgusting. Oh, and the store nearby didn’t have the right snacks, so I had to go to another one. Boy, am I so glad to be back.” You didn’t get a response, so you set the bags and pizza down on the table, “Eds?”
You turned around, and the shock of your life was sitting on the couch.
“Dusty?”
“Y/N?”
“What are you-” You both asked the question you were thinking simultaneously before firing accusatory looks at Eddie. Yours was because he didn’t warn you that Dustin was here, and Dustin’s was because Eddie didn’t tell him you were here.
Eddie held his hands up in defense, “I am not to blame here.”
Dustin stood up, now giving you an accusatory look. He looked so shocked that it might have been funny at a later time, but definitely not then. “Wait. I thought that a freaking Demodog ate you. And you’ve been what - frolicking with Eddie?”
“Dustin!” You buried your face in your hands, hoping that would make you disappear. Unfortunately, it did not. “We aren’t- we haven’t-”
Dustin covered his ears and shook his head, “You know what? I don’t even think I want to know.”
Eddie sunk into the couch. He wished that the floppy cushions would swallow him whole. Anything would be preferable to Dustin accusing him of “frolicking” with you. Not to say he was against the idea, but Dustin was your little brother and his friend, so the whole situation was overly mortifying.
“You’re so dramatic.” You rolled your eyes before you thought about what he said. “Wait, rewind, please. What the hell is a ‘demodog’?”
-
After much explaining and your general confusion about how all of the crazy things in Hawkins flew right under your nose and why Dustin never asked for your help, the three of you ate the pizza that had gone cold with Dustin’s probably exaggerated story-telling.
At first, it was a bit awkward. Dustin had caught you, his sister, and Eddie, his friend, red-handed. Correction: it wasn’t red-handed because if it were, neither you nor Eddie would be able to live it down, but it was equally embarrassing.
You and Dustin decided to head home together once the movie Eddie picked out was over, and you and the boys emptied the entire pizza box. The two of you drove home in silence, occasionally looking over at the other.
“I’m sorry,” you said as you took a left turn. “I didn’t mean to make you worry or anything. I just,” you sighed as you approached a stop sign. “Sometimes I want my privacy, and Mom doesn't always get that, which isn’t the greatest. But I shouldn’t have taken that out on you, and I should have checked in. So yeah, I’m sorry.”
Dustin nodded. “Thanks for apologizing, and I’m sorry too. If I had known it was Eddie, I would’ve understood why you didn’t want to talk about it.”
“I totally meant to talk to you about it, though. But at first, it was nothing, so I didn’t want to bring it up, and then it was something, and I guess I just wanted to keep it for myself, you know?”
“Right… but don’t you want to know how I feel?” Dustin asked. He was looking out the window, which meant you couldn’t get a read on his true feelings.
You hesitated before asking, “How do you feel?”
“I mean, to be honest,” he turned to you with a slight frown, “I kind of hate it.”
“Oh…” was all you said because what can you say when your little brother tells you that he hates you and his friend being in a relationship?
You made it to the house before you even realized it. And then, you really wished you had run away. You sighed, nodding your head. “If you don’t want us together, then that’s final because don’t let this get to your head, but you’re right most of the time and-”
“Y/N?” Dustin interrupted, to which you acknowledged with a hum. “I’m just kidding. If you’re happy, then so am I.”
You smiled at him and ruffled his hair as best you could with his cap still on. “I’m glad. I really like him, and he makes me pretty happy, so it would suck to break up.”
“Yeah, yeah. But I seriously don’t want to catch you guys frolicking again.”
“Dustin!”

Moth To A Flame — 03. Don’t jinx it (half-written)
Tumblr media
You would’ve made a new friend had it not been the anxiety building up in your body causing the words of a compliment coming to a halt. ‘An idiot’ you thought, ‘I look like an idiot.’
This morning had gone by with you dreading, as you watch all your friends scatter around the school building. Minji had kissed you goodbye after dropping you off in front of your classroom, “it’s not like we all have different classes y/n your gonna see Hanni next period” she reassures, patting you back, “plus this is your opportunity to make new friends and tell them about how your girlfriend is running for student council.”
“Is that all you care about?”
“Of course not! I’m only joking silly” she laughs, “but seriously you’ll be fine. A little compliment aimed at the person next to you should do the trick at making a friend.”
“I guess I’ll just try that” you trail off, looking at the hallways emptying as students quickly slip into their classrooms, “alright I’ll see you later min go to class before you get your ass beat on the first day.” You peck her lips before ushering her toward the stairwell where her class was a floor above you.
The only person nearest to you was Danielle, who was a few classrooms down from you.
But being near wasn’t enough, you wished she was next to you so you could easily avoid a conversation with an unfamiliar face that would be too awkward for you to handle, since first conversations are always held with loads of overwhelming tension.
You were already facing the said girl next to you, who, by the way, hasn’t noticed your presence. With a mouth slowly a gape with words at the tip of your tongue and eyes that held nothing but a blank stare. Immediately you redact and return facing forward toward the teacher scribbling about classroom rules no one was gonna follow anyway, but to everyone’s dismay it’s important to talk about, to ‘keep the class in tact’ they say.
The monotonous voice your teacher had made you wonder if you were destined to fail English literature, his voice was enough to lull you to sleep.
You itched for an interaction from someone that’s wasn’t in his mid fifties talking about not being allowed to eat in class.
Nerves built up in your body, you were nervous about interacting with the girl next to you, the reason? It’s unknown.
A compliment shouldn’t be so nerve wracking to say, it’s just a small sentence starter that might blossom in a conversation if you keep persuading at it.
You aren’t out going but you also aren’t an introvert, you can handle and maintain conversations although you can’t seem to initiate one.
‘Come on y/n don’t be coward’
You push, or try to, push all the nerves and butterflies swarming in your stomach out the way, seemingly forcing words out your throat.
“Hey girl, what’s your name?” your words merely come in a whisper, “your frog ring is really cute, where’d you get it from?.” Immediately you cringe, wanting to back out before the latter could even reply.
Can a hole appear under my chair and swallow me already?
You bit your lip when the girl seemed to perk up at your words. It seemed like it took a good two minutes for the words to process into her head once she realizes you were talking to her, her gaze shifts onto you with a welcoming smile.
She faces you completely now, and that’s when you realize the hairs poking out of her hoodie wasn’t even orange, it was more red. Mentally, you face palm, ‘she’s not a ginger, I can’t even distinguish colors anymore’
“Its Kyujin and thank you” her smile stretches upon her lips, “Its a friendship ring with my two other friends, one of them has a mom who owns a jewelry shop down town so it was made there” She follows suit, fiddling with the green polished ring with little details displaying an animal on her slender finger.
Her voice was soft, and you were glad of her friendly aura, she seemed like quite the talker which automatically ceased any awkward bone in your body.
“What’s your name?” She adds, forgetting she hadn’t even asked, her face displays a small shade of red in embarrassment for forgetting.
This went unnoticed by you, “I’m y/n.” You reply smoothly, “I knew someone who’s mom owned a jewelry shop down town as well.” It was something you didn’t wanna bring up, due to the bittersweet memories that followed suit with it, but if you wanted a friend in a class where you knew nobody, you knew you had to speak up.
“What a coincidence” she chuckles, “maybe it’s the same person?”
Your heart drops at her words and you wave her off with your hands, “oh I doubt that.. the girl moved schools.”
You continue to watch her fiddle with the ring with curiosity filling your eyes, initials flash on one side of the ring and your eyes gaze upon three letters in black ink.
‘khe’ the ring read.
“My friend was actually supposed to move schools but she decided against it.” She looks at you, with a shrug, “something about the track team being worse over there compared to here.”
You furrow your eyebrows at her words, it shone a hint of familiarity to you, ‘do we know the same person?’ The thought crashes into your mind but you brush it off as a simple coincidence, like Kyujin had said. “Imagine it is the same person, how crazy would that be?”
“Very” she chuckles, “but I mean, does the name hae-”
“Class dismissed!” A booming sound from the man standing before you rings in your ears.
The bell sounds after and you look at her with a frown, how did time go by that quick? You could’ve sworn you just started the conversation five minutes ago. Had you wished the conversation continued you could’ve scored a new number in your contacts.
You swing your bag onto your shoulders, “sorry for the cut off Kyujin, but what was the name?” Tilting your head in curiosity.
She shakes her head, “Sorry y/n I would love to tell you about her and all but I really gotta go, my history class is in the fourth floor and I don’t wanna be late.” She jumps onto her feet, pacing toward the door, “I’ll see you around though!” She yells.
You blink and she’s gone, “that was quick” you mutter, if she had enough time to say all that she could’ve said that girls name. You walk out the classroom without a rush compared to Kyujin who just ran out, but you understood why and your next class was on the same floor your currently in, thank god.
Your stomach begins to churn at the conversation when you recall it, something about the initial on her ring and the name she was about to say was all too familiar, you had a gut feeling something was up.
‘The girls name starting with a H and her first three letters to her name is Hae.. am I assuming things right now?’ You wonder. Curse the time for cutting her sentence short, now you’ll only be focused on the name she was about to say, or more so, could’ve said.
It would be crazy if the girl she knew and was talking about was the same girl you once knew wouldn’t it?
You couldn’t seem to shake off the sudden unease you felt.
