i know i said i'm clocking out of tumblr , but i lied , here's a list of small headcanons .

(part of blog canon) joshua can commune , at times , with the phoenixes of eld , his forefathers , but he cannot speak back to them . they speak to him mostly in visions and dreams , offering advice and regaling tales of the past .

(part of blog canon) after accepting ultima into his body , he sees pieces of his memories , origin , and the fallen civilization before it fell .

he's very insecure about always needing to be protected , and despite his illnesses , he feels this pressing need to prove himself . not just worthy , but that he is capable of protecting his loved ones , that he is capable of strength . he does so at the cost to his own life several times in game .

he has a chocobo too :)c it's not the same one from childhood like clive , but the chocobo travels alongside him and jote and he usually avoids riding her , using her more for his saddlebag , but he does ride her when he's too weak or in pain to walk or traveling long distances . chocobo name is hemera :)c

he's touch - starved as hell and in turn is very physically affectionate . he is so tender and loving in his touches and his hugs are always warm and tight and very caring . you can feel his love when he touches ;_;

his guilty conscience is insane and he bears the guilt of everything anabella did and really like. anything. it could make no sense logically but his mind will make it his fault and he will apologize . will go more into this at a later date btw like this one will probably be a whole meta at some point

views himself more like a ghost of the past than a present man . clive never says he feels that way about him , but i think he can feel it . also the trauma + the coma and all . he has never been the same since he awoke 5 years after the night of flames .

his hands are rlly soft :)c his gloves protect him from callouses and most of his strength is drawn from the phoenix

when his pain becomes unbearable he drops the like... princely charm and exists as more of a blunt force (a bit more like a less intense clive lmao) bc he's too tired and Hurting to sugarcoat much but he's not an outright jerk

he does not sleep well at all . his anxiety + his pain + his breathing issues + his inability to turn off his contemplative thinking brain make it incredibly difficult to get a good night's rest . especially after taking ultima into his body . that shit hurts and he feels like he's constantly being watched

he used to collect little rocks and leaves ! but anabella's handmaidens often threw them away or got rid of them , and he stopped collecting things after awhile . and i think that's cute alongside clive's wall , that clive kind of carried on with the sentimental keepsakes while joshua more or less forwent them

he keeps his matching earcuff to clive melded together on a chain usually either in his pocket or in his chocobo saddlebag , it's the one sentimental item he keeps on him ever

okay well. one thing that i absolutely adore abt ieytd3 specifically is their dedication to The Bit. The Bit, in this instance, being the telekinesis.

i first heard of ieytd pretty much the year it came out- although i wavered in and out of the community until a few months before the sequel was announced. within that time, there was this trend in what few ieytd fics were published that they would reject the telekinesis mechanic entirely. they would pretend it didn't exist. they brushed it off as a mandatory game mechanic for a VR title, but obviously it doesn't actually matter in canon. it's unnecessary.

but seeing schell games literally go "nuh uh". and take what's a pretty significant step in a unique direction from their source material. and say "actually, not only is telekinesis canon, but we are going to make it's existence critical to the plot of our entire third installation" was so much fun. i respect them so much for that.

a lot of times i find the best sort of games are those that take their silliness seriously. they don't feel ashamed of doing their own thing- breaking the mold a little bit, if it means developing a deeper sense of identity. they took this mandatory mechanic- essentially the only obstacle between them and an untarnished james bond-esque experience- and said "we can roll with this". and just did.

i love a game that's not ashamed to be what it is.

Remember when this video came out there were people who heard the voice at the end and thought the voice was either Sammy or the Ink Demon? Man, those were the days. However with all due respect, I'm glad neither case was right in the end lol.

On this day 5 years ago, "Unknown - April 14th" was posted on YouTube, which means it's been 5 damn years since we first heard from Wilson...

It's interesting to think that even though it's been 5 years, we've only known who Wilson really is for 2 years now (or more appropriately, 1 year and 5 months of those 5 years). Of course, now, after BATDR was released, we know who he is and what his place is in the Bendy universe. But between April 1, 2019 and November 1, 2022, all we knew about him was that he…existed. He was someone - someone bad apparently - who sounded old and who would have some relevance in the plot of Dark Revival. And that's it. We had no name, no appearance, nothing. He was someone, but we didn't know who.

It's no wonder he was only referred to as "Unknown" by fans during these 3 and a half years.

In the end, I would say that this drawing is a mix of 2 things. The first being the result of an idea I've had for a while, which is basically making a drawing in relation to the original video/"unknown" tape, but this time with Wilson, since now we know it was recorded by him. Plus it's been 5 years since the original upload,5 years of Wilson. I think this would be the perfect time to do this.

And second, a strange kind of redux/homage/"final chapter" in this kind of "collection" of drawings I did between 2019 and 2022 all based on the idea of "the unknown weirdo from BATDR saying How Very Interesting Such Knowledge" and so on. All of them having other characters in mind in the role of the Unknown. And now, here I am, redoing this idea again, only with The Man Himself this time. The real Unknown. Now as the Known, so to speak.

Going back to what I said before, you can see this drawing as a kind of farewell to this particular idea that I've kind of repeated over the years, as I've now done it again only with Wilson this time. (Does this mean I'll never draw this concept/line of thought again? I mean, I assume so. But there's no guarantee I can't make something similar again down the line. Who knows what the future holds. We will see what happens in the next 5 years.)

But,yeah. 5 years of Such Knowledge™.
