I bought my copy of The Joy of Cooking in the late 90s--it was a new print at the time, but the latest copyright in it is 1975, so it has a noticeable amount of old culture holdovers.

"Imitation Spaghetti" (1889) doesn't sound like it would work as spaghetti but sounds like it would turn out kind of like long skinny tater tots or hash browns, as long as they firmed up as they toasted

What I am sharing on my Kofi
Hi everyone. I want to be very honest with you. I am not doing very well financially. I know that a lot of people are in a similar situation. Because of my back (scoliosis) I can't work a "normal" job. And all the jobs that I have applied for are either rejecting me or just ignoring me.
With that being said. I want to focus on my Kofi and Patreon accounts. There will be more content in the future, but right now:
I am sharing recipes over on my Kofi account that are less than $20.00. And all of them are on their for free. None of them cost anything. Tips are always welcome. And following my Kofi account is free.
Here's an example of what I am posting on there.
I just want you all to know that I love each and every one of you. You don't know how much a single like or a single reblog helps me. I love the comments. It helps me think that people actually like the content that I put up.
Thank you for reading all of this. You are an amazing part of this community.
Here are all the ways you can support: HERE
I love you all.
Robby

I like to collect old recipe books and my friends are having a pie night so I decided to make an orange pie using this recipe from 1904-1911

I used the first one for the custard and the second for the meringue, this is the result:

I have acquired a, presumably, pre WW2 "HOME-MADE SWEETS" recipe book, it was my great grandmother's. The recipes are simple but work according to my mother as my granny loved making fudge, you can tell as there's a lot of damage to the books spine near the fudge recipes.
I might post a few recipes because there are some odd ones that are quite dated and the book might not last another decade. I'm hand writing out the ones I like the sound of into a leather bound notebook for safekeeping.
