As for fic recs, you’ve come to the right place >:) I’ve been meaning to update my list for 2020 so I can give you the scoop here. Thanks for giving me an excuse to yell about everyone’s writing.

My first suggestion is to check out the fics written for the Noragami Big Bang 2020. I was the head mod for the project and everyone, artists and writers, really brought their A-game. We also collectively produced just under 500k for the event so that’s really cool too!

I still haven’t finished reading through everything because I’m busy af but LISTEN THEY’RE GOOD

My personal faves from that event were:

BTS fic recs (or: a continuation with less magic!aus but there still is some on this list)

It’s been around six months and I’m again sucked into the BTS fandom, mostly because of the BTS World album and game. Seriously, how they manage to spit out so many songs so fast is amazing. And you can thank my dad for getting me back into the fandom cause he is just as obsessed as I am about BTS, which I find hilarious and my mom long-suffering XD.

Anyway, so I’m recommending yet another list that has cumulated over the months, some recommended to me by @onceabluemoonwrites (thank you for the recs and continuing to spur my obsession) and those I stumbled upon and ended up loving. (suga is transgender, he's a she in this fic. suga is amazing and the background ships had me invested and oh man, this is one of those fics that steal your heart if you let it.)

1933 Min Yoongi spends his nights tending the lighthouse, providing a light on the horizon for lost sailors to navigate safely, all the while feeling lost by himself, a lightkeeper without a guiding light.

There are some people who are meant to cross paths, even if it means time itself must bend to accommodate them.

(editor!Jimin is high strung and gungho and this alone made me fall for this fic for giving me this. this story is the definition of ‘star-crossed lovers’, i was rooting for them so hard. bless.)

(this gave me so many flashbacks to when i was a kid. they are perfect for each other and my brother laughed so much when i read him a few lines. because he is a cheating cheater who lies and is very impressed by this pair. you'll see what i mean.)

And then finally it breaks when Jimin shakes his head before letting out a true blue giggle, “well. He’s interesting at least.”

Six weeks in the desert at an archaeology dig sounds like everything Taehyung had ever dreamed of. Too bad Kim Namjoon's coming, too.

(this is a really cute fic and just, namjoon is this rambling mess and v is so humanely insecure and all of it is just, ugh. ugh i couldn't stop grinning.)

This was decidedly different, Namjoon thought, staring at Kim Seokjin’s bemused expression, than how it went in movies. Which, all things considered, was terribly ironic considering that Namjoon was being told he couldn’t study in his own library so that the aforementioned Kim Seokjin could film there with his movie crew.

Or, Namjoon is a frazzled grad student who just wants to finish his thesis, but somehow ends up getting cast as an extra in a movie instead.

(you know this is good when a character is accidentally in a movie. any student who wrote or is writing a thesis will understand namjoon’s dilemma on a spiritual level. he stole my heart in this fic, he really did. i don’t blame you one bit jin for falling for this boy.)

Fic Writers Week - Day Two

Now that I’m feeling a bit better, here I am, trying to contribute to day two. Even if I’m behind schedule. Here’s my contribution, @ficwritersweek​!

Day Two: The Muses

Fan art? Edits? Playlists? Draw some inspiration from the fics you love and share some new content with the fandom!

On the topic of muses, hm. Amusingly enough, I tend to draw the inspiration to write fic from the strangest of places. I accumulate character songs and mood themes to play in the background while writing, but I'm just as likely to get irritated with ambient noise when I'm focusing on a specific scene.

That said, music is definitely the biggest muse. Aside from that, I've found that art can work as a great inspiration as well, whether created by someone else or just me sitting and scribbling away in my sketchbook on days my brain isn't ready to string words together coherently. In addition to these are conversations with like-minded people, or even just friends who have fun throwing more fuel on the fire. I've somehow been lucky enough to have befriended at least a few people who enjoy having crazy discussions with me. These conversations always end in new fics. Or, at least, leave me with ideas to put on the back burner. ( @lemondropz @insanescriptist @aerialflight​ @voxofthevoid​ @onceabluemoonwrites​, I’m looking at you guys. And a lot of the other wonderful people I’ve met since joining tumblr. Amazing people, the whole lot of you. You know who you are.)

Black Clover: A Must See!

I’ve seen a lot posts comparing Black Clover to other anime drifting around. Whether their judgment was positive or negative- I’m here to tell you what makes Black Clover unique.

I could go into characters, into the setting, but I’m not. I’m going straight for one of the main themes: Rivalry.

But almost every shonen has rivalry as a theme! You say.

Perhaps I should change my wording slightly: Black Clover is all about healthy rivalry.

As an avid anime fan, I’ve become utterly sick of the rivalry trope. Often there are just two guys calling each other rivals. What they’re competing over? Unless it’s a sports anime, it’s often hard to find out. It’s a hole a mile wide in a relationship that’s frequently seen as central to the stories.

Black Clover deals with that instantly. What’s the goal? Becoming Wizard King. And this is no distant dream, there’s a structured method towards becoming the Wizard King, and the two main characters start on it straight away by joining the Magic Knights.

It’s eyes on the target and it feels good. Also, it’s not just an empty goal, Asta and Yuno have a very good reason for wanting to become the Wizard King. There’s a post on this by @kuja9001 over here, complete with manga panels. 

But all of that tells you little more than the setting. So onto the next point! The two main characters, Asta and Yuno, want to become the Wizard King and go to the top! Rivals all the way!

So now they must be at least lowkey enemies, right?

Nope. Friends all the way! Their rivalry is a point of respect towards each other. ‘’I am your rival!’’ I acknowledge you are striving towards the same goal as I am. I respect you for that. You are a threat, but I am glad you are.

That’s what Black Clover is saying. It makes a big deal out of being comrades. Working together is central to becoming stronger. Becoming stronger is central to becoming Wizard King. Pushing each other higher and higher, that’s the goal- smiling all the way.

And it’s not just Asta and Yuno. It’s a big point in the series as a whole. But as not to spoiler those who haven’t read the manga, just trust me, it’s coming.

Pliroy fic recs!

Hey guys! 

I’ve been binging on yoi fics recently, and one of the pairings I’ve read for is Pliroy. Less handy: wading through a RIVER of smut fics in the Jean-Jacques Leroy/Yuri Plisetsky category. So I thought I’d rec some of my favourite Pliroy fics that do not include sex scenes!

Title: Who Made You King of Anything?! by @araminthe-ispwitch

Summary: Yuri Plisetsky, youngest son of the legendary skater husbands Viktor and Yuuri Katsuki-Nikiforov, was only trying to relax and meditate the night before his senior debut at the Rostelecom Cup. He had never wanted to get way into a fucking debate about an annoying rockstar with an equally-annoying stranger. In fact, he had never even wanted to discover that said equally-annoying stranger was actually the aforementioned annoying rockstar!

Based on @skygemspeaks' Stepfamily AU (my own version), rockstar!JJ AU (I actually don't know if this exists), and the writing prompt, “ur just a random stranger and i’ve been ranting to you for like 20 minutes about how much i hate this one band but now several groups of people came up to you asking for pics and autographs, and oh shit it turns out you’re in the band i’ve been going on about”

AU.Pliroy Week 2017 | Day 2: Self-Esteem/Confidence & Day 8: Free AU

My comment: Damn. Seriously, damn. I went into this with a ‘’nice au!’’ expression, came out with my mind blown. Just. The interaction. The emotions. The dialogue. The introspection and characterization! This might be one of the best YOI fics that doesn’t focus on either Victor or Yuuri I’ve ever read. Hell, even then it still counts as one of the best!

Title: little lady by @mother-iwa-chan

Summary: Yuri Plisetsky has never been one to foster crushes. Unfortunately, King JJ never got the memo.

My comment: Okay. You guys know how crazy I am about Clxude’s stories (that’s their ao3 name, btw) but I clicked on it without noticing that they wrote it. And only found out once I commented *laughs*. I really loved how they communicated in this one! 

Title: Must be What's Best For Me by @gunboots

Summary: “You dropkick people in greeting.” Viktor says placidly, “You don’t need us.”

JJ takes a sip of tea and doesn’t remark—Viktor is far more aware than Yuri gives him credit for.

My comment: Everybody’s in here and it is a blessing. JJ proving himself to Yuri’s entire entourage and my gosh, it’s beautiful.

Title: The Words That Cover Him by @aexis1465

Summary: JJ has wanted to know who his soulmate was for as long as he can remember. He wants to know ever more when he finds out what his soulmate is going through everyday.

A year later and JJ has some idea of what’s being written on his arm. He doesn’t understand everything, but he understand enough to piece together that his soulmate isn’t going through the best of times. He continues to draw the small doodles all over his arm and a few times he will write something out in English in the hopes his soulmate will write back in English. This has yet to work.

My comment: Trans!Yuri. TRANS!YURI!

Summary: The suit can't be returned because it wasn't used for it's intended purpose.

“I really like that suit on you,” Yuri said. “While designing it, I was thinking of a scenario of you holding flowers. It’s a shame that they wouldn’t let me have you walk down the runway with flowers.”

“What scenario?” Yuri mumbled something JJ couldn’t hear.

My comment: The Fashion designer!Yuri and model!JJ AU one-shot we really needed. 

Title: Pancakes and Fake Maple Syrup by ImWithEnjolras

Summary:  In the very long list of “Very Strange Things Viktor and Yuuri Have Seen”, Yuri Plisetsky crying over his pancakes in their kitchen in Hasetsu probably takes the cake.

My comment: Despite its summary, this is fluffy as hell. Yuuri’s a bit OOC, but the dramatic reactions more than make up for it. Also, that hug.

My personal summary of the fic:  Better than canon, crazy (and super fun and interesting) Tsuna and Xanxus is pretty much: “Fuck everyone and everything except my mom.” (NANA is Xanxus mother, people. It is Amazing™ )

   1. Favorite song of all time? (yes,    I’m stealing this one)

I CAN’T CHOOSE! …Florence and the Machine is a fav, though!

2. What languages can you speak?

Fluently: Dutch and English.

Holiday conversation/understands most of it but can’t talk back a lot: German and French.

Speaks a few words: Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Latin (…Can usually deduct what it’s about pretty well, actually, bc it’s related to so many languages), and probs some more I’m currently forgetting.

3. Favorite book/poem?

One of my favorite poems is The Ballad of Alice Brand by Sir Walter Scott! Tennyson is also one of my favourite poetry authors!

4. Where would you go for a vacation?

Somewhere warm and peaceful! But preferably with musea or other interesting things to see nearby!

5. Best fanfic you have read?

I have read many a good fanfic, and if I had to say the best I’d probably say    @i-w-p-chan ’s Third Phase because I can never squeal about that one enough.   

Also, a fic I haven’t talked about on Tumblr before, achromatic by clxude ( @mother-iwa-chan on here, I believe),   a Haikyuu soulmate AU. It’s Kageyama/Kindaichi/Kunimi and my god, it ripped by heart out of my chest and then put it back with a plaster of utter beauty and a happy ending on top. It’s honestly the most realistic story I’ve found for these characters. The relationships are breath-taking, so is the plot, the language and the characterization. It… It took my breath away, to say the least.

6. What is your best feel-good anime if you have one?

Warning: I have no idea what counts as feel good.

For lazy days: Lucky Star, or if I’m feeling really sleepy, Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge.

For when I’m  feeling not so great but want to watch something: Yu Yu Hakusho. Which isn’t exactly in the feel-good genre, but it’s got something that just… calms me down. I like it.

Hetalia is lovely and silly. Also, short eps: The Great Blessing.

7. If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

A dolphin. I could swim then! Or a bird- I’d love to fly and not be afraid!

8. How would you survive a zombie apocalypse?

…Through my best friend saving me, probably. She’s the badass in the relationship. I’m the adorkable sidekick.

9. What’s your weirdest talent?

I can curl my lips up. If I do it, it kinda looks like I pushed my lips together with my tongue in between, but that’s not it. My tongue is in my mouth and I have taken pursing my lips to such a high level I can curl a part of the inside of my lip to the outside. I have no idea how to describe this, so I hope it’s clear!

10. What’s your favorite scent?

Sea salt or fresh laundry, probably. Lavender is also wonderful!

11. Do you believe in extraterrestrial life?

We exist and scientists keep talking about other planets possibly having potential for life, so I don’t see why there wouldn’t be? It’s certainly possible.

Yesterday I posted Kill Me With Fire (It’s Not Like I Burn), a Bianchi-centric reincarnation fic that deals with several aspects, among which asexuality, that I headcanon her having. 

Now, the same evening I came across a fic on AO3 that I read long before I had either AO3, Tumblr or a fanfiction.net account! It was fundamental to my characterization of Bianchi, even though I read it so long ago. It’s beautiful! So I had to rec it!
