my boomer trait is that i don't understand the concept of e-libraries. you have the file. just give it to me. if you don't want me to download it at least let me read it online. why is there a waitlist? why is there a time limit? this is not a physical thing someone is using, it's data being displayed on a screen. you have it all the time. why can't i access it whenever.

Hey, Owl House fans that are looking for other media to get into now that the show has ended: check out the Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend!
The series is about a young girl named Morrigan Crow, who is whisked away to the magical city of Nevermoor the night she is supposed to die. Once there, she has to navigate her new home in the whimsical Hotel Deucalion, her education at the prestigious Wundrous Society, and the truth about the mysterious and powerful legacy she belongs to.
The series is categorized as middle grade/~YA, so it's similar in how it can appeal to an all-ages audience. Like The Owl House, it balances lighter moments with darker, more sinister revelations (and they're just getting started!). The author is queer herself and openly expresses her thoughts against + directly confronts bigotry and hatred while also being just an all-around wonderful person.
It contains some classic tropes such as a magical school, found family, and corrupt authority figures, all in unique and fresh ways. There is a diverse cast of characters, including a sapphic couple where one of them works at a magical library (sound familar...? 😉). There are several multi-dimensional antagonists, and they all work to challenge Morrigan and the story in their own unique ways. Also: there's a giant talking cat! Love that.
The series has an interesting magic system + worldbuilding, with tons of lore and history to dig your hands into and theorize if that's what you like. The character development is so fun and interesting as Morrigan and her friends grow up and find their place in the world. The world is so fleshed out that you can easily pick a minor side character or a location that's briefly mentioned, and extrapolate on how and where they fit into the story and themes as a whole.
There are three books out already, out of nine planned books. The fourth book Silverborn comes out in October, so there's plenty of time to get caught up until then! I highly recommend giving it a try.

Relistening to Ramattra interactions for the heck of it, and I'm getting brainworms from the Junker Queen one. A quick refresher:
Ramattra: I hear you like to prey on omnics. Try me!
Junker Queen: No thanks! Fought a bunch of ya before. You're a bit... gimmicky. No offense.
Ram: ... Gimmicky?
Queen: I said no offense!
What exactly does the boss of Junkertown mean by "gimmicky"?
My initial thought was Nemesis form, duh, but... that can't be it. Based on the full interaction, she's using plural you in "You're a bit gimmicky", not singular you. Nemesis is exclusive to Ramattra.
So she's talking about... something... unique to all R-7000s specifically. What could that be?
I only have 2 ideas so far, and tbh they both kinda suck, but anyway.
First is that R-7000s inherently have the ability to control other omnics near them and force them to do their bidding, should they choose to do so, even after the Awakening. It would line up with the whole elite combat unit designed to lead omnics into war motif, and I imagine would be annoying to fight for Queen (summoning minions to do the dirty work instead of doing said dirty work themselves).
If that were the case though, why isn't this ability mentioned anywhere? I imagine mind control would be the bane of any non-R-7000-omnic's existence, so it should be mentioned somewhere, be it an in-game interaction with an omnic character or Reflections short story or ANYTHING, but nope.
The other option is that R-7000s are nowhere near as threatening as their reputation would have people believe, based on the definition of the word gimmick (something designed to attract attention but has little actual value). Which makes sense post Awakening, just because they were built for murder doesn't mean all of them are active fighters (thus experienced and dangerous fighters).
... But then why would Junker Queen turn down the duel Ramattra is offering? Easy prey is easy prey, and can you imagine the kind of trophy the head of the leader of Null Sector would be?
... Do ya'll have any ideas what Queen could be talking about?

Animals I wish to see in Above and Beyond:
Alternate title: I Am Banging On Silvergate’s Door As We Speak /j
Bees!! because a bee model does in fact exist. I know this. They just need to use it /srs. Plus bees would make a really cute episode anyway- and when they finally do it I am willing to bet $9999 on it being a Vegimals episode.
Orchid mantis, or any kind of mantis really. Why? They are my favourite bug, next question-
Gynandromorph animal(s)!!! They're so cool—they're what happens when an animal with vastly different gender differences (think the harlequin ducks) is born intersex, and they look like Picasso paintings come to life. (it could also be a fun way to introduce a character with they/them pronouns-)
Parrots! (I know we got the mountain parrots but shh-) I desperately want a Pete-centered episode, and give him some friends while you're at it please.
Centipede! They’re literally just remipedes on land. Make it a Shellington episode and call it a day 👍
Snails. I love snails. They're the best mollusks, I am not accepting criticism.
Tarantula. Just because :)
Bunny. They showed an illustration of a non-anthro bunny in The Cold Snap and I have not felt peace since.
I’d gladly take a jackrabbit too; they’re not really rabbits (they’re hares), but if you’ve read that one post you’ll understand. It’s a Kwazii and Tweak episode.
Sammy The Falcon specifically. What is his deal???? They introduced him as Paani's living taxi and gave us ZERO context.
Maned wolves. Weirdos. (affectionate)
Moose. I will not elaborate further.
I’m down to see the chinstrap penguins again, or Ooju and Rocko—I think they should interact 👀
Ostrich?? Emu?? I have nothing else to say.
Ring-Tailed Lemur. They’re another one of my favourite animals, and I think the Wild Kratts fans would get a kick out of it. They deserve nice things.
Mole lizard. Look it up I DARE you. (cw if you're scared of snakes or worms) /nf
