#online jobs for college students with no experience
Text
“We’re seeing a tsunami of police investigations,” Sfard said. “People who are targeted go through a very frightening experience and even if it ends with no indictments, it’s still horrendous.
“There is a wave of silencing of any type of, not only criticism, but also just compassion.”
Protests in sympathy with Gaza have been dispersed with force and Israel’s chief of police, Yaakov Shabtai, said last week: “Anyone who wants to identify with Gaza is welcome. I will put them on buses now that are headed there and I will help him get there.”
At the beginning of last week, Israel’s attorney general’s office also announced that it had instructed universities and colleges to forward cases to the police of students who had posted “words of praise for terrorism”.
In the wake of the attorney general’s instructions, there has been an apparent purge in Israeli universities. The legal rights group Adalah has reported that about 50 Palestinian students have been summoned to disciplinary committees about their social media posts and some have been suspended from their studies.
Intimidation of both Jewish and Arab Israelis with dissident views has also come from faceless individuals and groups, stirring up hate online.
In one notable incident, the ultra-orthodox leftwing journalist Israel Frey posted a video saying Kaddish (the Jewish prayer for the dead) for the victims of the Hamas slaughter and Palestinian civilians under fire in Gaza.
Soon afterwards, an anonymous user of the Telegram messaging platform published his address, which was shared widely by rightwing groups, and a mob turned up outside, lobbing fireworks at his windows, forcing him to flee with his family. He is now in hiding.

Know Your Soul Purpose With Your Big 3
Tumblr media
It's been so much time since I've been here, but it's amazing to be back! Now, here's a topic I was wondering about today...
All our configurations hold divine meaning, in that before we are born, our souls chose the type of experiences we needed to undergo as part of our next visit on Earth. What makes us "us" is perfect in design. And what we're "made of" can be neatly seen in our birth charts. No birth nor birth chart happen by chance.
While it’s accurate that specific karmic work (which is part of our life's mission) is indicated by studying the positions of Saturn, its aspects, planets falling in water houses and the configuration of lunar nodes, I feel we can also find great part our soul's purpose (our main lessons) by analyzing our Big 3. This is equal to drawing a picture of the blueprint of our unique navigation system, our compasses through our human experience.
Tumblr media
To make a draft of your soul's blueprint, take these steps!
Look at your chart to know your Ascendant, Sun and Moon signs and chart ruler(s). If your rising sign has two rulers, take them both into account. In my case, I always use whole sign system.
Identify the houses of your placements.
Start drafting your Ascendant, Sun and Moon signs' significations using the tables below, including both positive and negative traits. If we're moving through life based mostly on our positive qualities, it's very likely we're on the right track. Conversely, living constantly under the influence of our negative traits marks potential blockages to get where we need to be.
Add to your blueprint areas in which you naturally express your placement's traits (houses). This is important because you will know where your mission will be accomplished more easily or naturally.
Have fun!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you're having a bit of trouble to come up with yours, take my own example...
I am proud of myself when I present to the world as passionate, powerful, magnetic, and intuitive (positive Scorpio rising qualities). I realize that when I become vengeful, jealous, obsessive and/or mournful (negative Scorpio rising qualities), I am attracting unnecessarily challenging circumstances that hinder my lessons in my life. My personality (rising sign) projects most in my physical appearance image and identity, in my close communities and in the pursuit of my dreams (Chart Rulers in 1st and 11th house). I feel my life has meaning when I act as a nurturing, sensitive, creative and empathetic person (positive traits of Cancer sun), but when I become needy, emotionally instable, insecure and/or manipulating with others (negative traits of Cancer sun), I realize that I am blocking myself from living in my fullest potential. The area where my conscious self (Sun sign) shines most is in my path towards higher learning, distant travelling, truth seeking, legal affairs and spirituality (Sun in 9th house). I feel safe and fulfilled when I can be brave, independent, assertive and passionate (positive Moon in Aries traits). But, when I realize that I'm repeatedly reacting in a violent, selfish, impulsive and/or inconstant way (negative Moon in Aries traits), I know that am blocking my ability to be peaceful within myself and move ahead in life. My emotional needs (Moon sign) are best taken care of through my habits, health care, daily routine, service to others, jobs, and pets (Moon in the 6th house).
Now, what information can you derive from this description? What does this tell about my purpose in this life?
Naturally, I am pulled to creative, healing and spiritual work. I studied Industrial Design in college, but I've expanded my career in other directions, including developing and managing intermittently art and esoteric online businesses while also holding an office job in Change Management. I am also the eternal student, self-learning and passionate about higher knowledge. I like to share my insights with others and help them find their own truth, their own awakening. I am drawn to intense (and sometimes not so positive) experiences and relationships, and have drastically changed my own image, jobs and spiritual views along the years. I've certainly went through a lot of turmoil, but also have gained significant life lessons and valuable wisdom thanks to the way I approach life. I cannot help to be deeply emotional, empathetic, passionate, excitable, idealistic and inspired, for the good and the bad! Even though it's not been an easy road, I realize that little by little my purpose is being fulfilled... and I hope you all do!
What about you? Let me know what you find out about yourself!
Thanks for reading! 😘🖤

Mark loves his job.
Nothing made him happier than donning the red and blue one-piece suit with the arachnoid symbol on the center of the chest and pulling down the matching mask. He was pretty proud of his sewing skills. Hopefully the elderly owner of the downtown fabric store never puts the puzzle pieces together.
He was still fairly new to being Spider-Man – only being bitten at the beginning of last semester and using the summer to work out the kinks – this spring semester would show his improvement.
His school schedule was class schedule was calm with classes only on Tuesday and Thursday in the morning and evening with the rest online. With the perfect amount of time throughout busy days to sneak away to patrol the city. The rest of the weekdays were dedicated to working at the college radio station. It allowed Mark to work around his own schedule as he could pre-record segments and cue up pre-made playlists.
The morning of the first day of the new semester was looking like an average day, helping civilians with minimal tasks like crossing busy streets and saving pets in trees.
Swinging to university was his favorite form of transportation as it was convenient but at the same time fun as sailing through the air was incomparable to any other experience. Mark landed on the roof of the old bell tower as he quickly changed into a pair of clothes he stashed in a hidden backpack on the ceiling ledge. Nothing too exciting, just a maroon tee, brown cargo pants, and black converse. He made quick work to stash his suit inside his backpack and slung it over his shoulder.
He walked down the spiral staircase as he put on his headphones and checked his phone.
            apartment 721
johnny dude r u coming to shoot some hoops?
jaehyun are we playing basketball or should I skip for football practice?
mark be there in 5
Mark raced across the university lawn, passing unassuming students that would never know his secret. The early morning hours provided more security for his secret as most people around him were either too busy rushing to their 8 AM lecture or too tired from pulling another all-nighter.
When he reached the basketball courts, Mark tucked his bag in between Jaehyun’s massive athletic bag and Johnny’s decked out in pins and patches. The duo was goofing off with a basketball as they made obnoxious moves before shooting for the hoop.
“Hey guys, sorry I’m late.”
Johnny pauses as he turns toward his best friend before tossing the ball. Mark effortlessly catches it due to his built-up reflexes from stopping local crimes.
“Yo guess who finally decided to show up.” Johnny remarks as Mark makes a 3 pointer.
Jaehyun and Johnny both share a look as the former greets Mark, “You’ve gotten really good at basketball in a short amount of time… like crazy good.”
“Yeah man. You used to not be able to even get the ball in while standing still, but now you’re even better than Mr. Team Captain over here.”
Mark shrugs as he dribbles the ball, “I’m not even close to Jaehyun’s level, dude. He’s the best player.”
“Okay then go to the other side of the court and make it in.”
Mark looks at Johnny as Jaehyun chugs some water but gives in as he walks to the end of the court.
Mark is pretty sure that his sharp reflexes only work for short distances or when he’s out being Spider-Man, so the dare shouldn’t tip his best friends off. Mark dribbles the ball a bit before throwing the ball in the direction of the hoop.
Luckily, the ball goes over the hoop and proving to Johnny and Jaehyun that he still sucks at basketball, but unluckily almost hits a passerby.
You.
“Airball!”
You turn to the source of the noise as you let out a surprised yell as you duck to avoid the rouge basketball, falling to the ground and letting out a string of curses. Mark rushes over after his Spidey senses went off, shooting a ball of webs to knock it off its course of hitting you.
“Are you okay?”
You look up to see a concerned Mark as he helps you up, “Dude, I am so sorry. That could have ended really badly. Did you get hurt? Do you need to go to the hospital?”
Johnny and Jaehyun follow Mark to check up on you as you stare at the 3 attractive men paying too much attention to you.
“I’m okay, really. I didn’t even get hit. Just was caught off guard.”
The trio are unconvinced as they inspect your arms and head. Mark is focused on checking for any injury – even a millimeter of a scratch – on your right arm as Jaehyun checks the range of motion on your left arm and Johnny is asking you how many fingers he’s holding up.
“I’m not hurt, but I’ll still get checked up the clinic.” You bargain to get the attractive strangers to stop dotting over you.
“I’ll walk you!” Mark volunteers as he grabs your backpack off the floor and waves bye to his friends. Johnny and Jaehyun refuse to leave until they exchange their number with you to check up but also to make it up to you later. You tell them that it’s not necessary, but the pair insist as Mark gets you to leave.
He quickly introduces himself and you do it in return. Walking to the clinic was peaceful as both you and Mark’s steps were in sync. The crisp spring air helped calm your nerves. You know that you weren’t hurt but it would be best to get a check-up by a nurse.
“I’m really sorry again.”
“Apology accepted.”
“Let’s just get you to the clinic.”
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
After a quick check-up with a nurse, you are deemed “okay” with no external or internal injuries. Mark gives you back your backpack as you thank him and are returned with another long string of apologies.
“Here, let me – no us – make it up to you.” Mark opens his phone to create a group chat between the four of you.
            we’re sorry
mark if ur free this week we would like to buy u lunch
bc dinner sounds like a date
not that we wouldn’t date u
            u seem great !
            this is mark btw
johnny what mark is trying to say is that we don’t want to make you uncomfortable
but we also want to make it up to you so lunch this week - johnny
jaehyun it’s jaehyun i know a great café w vegan options
you you guys really don’t have to make it up to me
            i’m okay !! a nurse checked me
johnny thank god ur not hurt
“So, are you free this week?”
You look away from your phone at Mark staring at you. You quickly look away at the students walking past you. You feel nervous as Mark is cute and being near him is not helping your poor heart.
“Yeah, I can do Wednesday or this weekend.”
You have to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with your two in-person classes on the other days and your two fully online classes spread throughout the week. Luckily, working at the bookstore on campus was flexible and allowed you to complete homework whenever you had free time.
“I know this is an annoying question, but what’s your year and major?”
“I’m a sophomore majoring in Health Sciences.”
Mark’s eyes light up, “I’m a sophomore too! But I’m a Biomed major. We’re kinda in similar majors.”
“We might even have a class together.” You joke and let out a laugh, but your mouth shuts as Mark has his printed schedule in hands and extended in your direction.
Your joke turns out to be true as you both share the same evening class on Tuesday and Thursday. Which is a good thing because at least you know someone in that class. A friend possibly.
“Do you work?”
“I work at the radio, so if you ever tune into 27.1 FM you will hear playlists I put together.”
“Ugh, that sounds like such a fun job. I work at the bookstore. I mean, don’t get me wrong I like it there, but it’s never busy for my shifts.”
A notification on Mark’s phone makes him freeze up, but before you can ask what’s wrong he quickly bids you goodbye as he rushes off. You decide to head to work and hope that nothing else out of the ordinary happens today.
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
On the plus side, your shared class with Mark has been going well so far. During the first class the day after you met him, you got to the classroom early and saved him a seat.
You watch as people slowly trickle into class as you held out a small hope that Mark would want to sit next to you. The class was almost full with just a handful of seats left – two directly in front of the professor’s podium, one in the very back by the other door, and the one you’ve been saving. He arrives at the last minute, and you watch him scan the room, hopefully looking for you, but once your eyes meet and Mark grins, your heart started racing.
Squeezing between people already in their seats, he reaches the open seat as you move your backpack from the chair to under the table. The professor starts the first day lecture of going over the syllabus, but you tune them out as your attention was… elsewhere.
Mark sits next to you, typing on his laptop as the professor talks. His outfit is a simple green hoodie with tan cargo pants and beat up black converse, yet the outfit compliments him. His hair is fluffy and a little messy as he runs his hand through it in an attempt to fix it. You notice that he’s breathing hard like he ran to get to class. You reach into your backpack to grab your water bottle and place it next to his hand. Mark pauses from typing notes as you turn your head back to the professor.
“Thanks.” He mumbles as he drinks the water.
“Don’t worry, I have another water bottle in my car. You can just give it back to me next class.” You whisper back while pretending to be interested in the professor’s grading policy.
When the second class rolls around, you’re surprised to see Mark is the first person in class, sitting in the same spot with his backpack on the seat you were sitting in last time and your water bottle on the table.
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
Saturday is the only day you are all free for lunch. Jaehyun, who keeps telling you to call him Jae, promises that this lunch will be the best lunch of your life and how he knows a worker. He’s brought it up every time he saw you while you were working. Johnny was no help either as he kept asking you super specific questions you would have no idea how to answer.
Johnny leans on a display table full of notebooks while flipping through a psychology textbook, “What kind of wood is this table?”
You let out another deep sigh as you put on your customer service voice to answer yet another question from Johnny Suh. “Sorry, I don’t know.”
“Do you know someone who would?”
Johnny smirks as he puts on his sunglasses. You turn around to reshelve new chemistry textbooks when a tap on your shoulder has you seeing Jaehyun holding a cookbook open.
“Do you like” He turns the cookbook back to himself as he squints, “Maultaschen?”
“What do you know about Germany?”
Jaehyun closes the cookbook as he shoots you his best dimpled smile, “Nothing.”
“Guys, I’m trying to work.”
“Yeah, and we’re being customers.”
Johnny sasses you as he pushes the cart of textbooks away from you. “Don’t pretend that we don’t make your shifts better.”
You can’t argue that because it is true, but you’re also afraid that your boss might think you’re slacking and goofing around with friends on the clock.
“I do love it when you guys come see me while I’m working, but I don’t want my boss to think I’m slacking.”
Jaehyun leans on your shoulder as he looks around the empty bookstore. “Bro, you’re the best employee here by far, but if your boss thinks otherwise, we can give a good review.”
“You? Slacking?” Johnny lets out a laugh as puts some textbooks on the highest shelf. “Slacking is scared of you. And Spider-Man.”
“Here he goes.” Jaehyun rolls his eyes as Johnny scoffs.
“Spider-Man is the coolest superhero ever. I’m jealous of all the people that get to see him work in real time.”
“Spider-Man?”
Johnny’s jaw drops, “Yo… you don’t know Spider-Man? You know, the masked guy in blue and red and has a spider sign on his chest. Stops bank robbers and saves people in car crashes. The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man?”
“Oh… his name is Spider-Man?”
“Yeah. I don’t wanna brag, but” Johnny leans closer to you, “I basically coined the name. The story’s really cool and super long, so I’ll save it for lunch.”
The other brunette fixes his backpack straps, “I should head to basketball practice soon, but we’ll text you later with the details. See you tomorrow.”
The duo leaves you to finish your tasks, but with less work as they helped while talking to you. You can’t help fighting the smile on your face at the idea of having plans with friends.
Lunch! With friends! Friends that you made in university and not the same friends you had back home that you knew from elementary school.
Maybe things were looking up for you.
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
Spider-Man business had never been easier. Petty thefts had gone down. The city was running smoothly like normal, which was great for Mark as he could focus on schoolwork and improving his swinging skills.
Currently, the vigilante was patrolling the city on the lookout for any danger. Nothing was coming through the crime watch app connected to his watch. He has 10 more minutes until lunch with Johnny, Jaehyun, and You.
Once he reaches the café building’s rooftop, Mark drops down and enters through the stairwell door going directly into the janitor’s room to change. The doors are unlocked, which is not the safest but it’s convenient for Mark, he quickly changes into a white tee, light wash jeans, and the same black converse. The suit and mask are stuffed into his backpack as he goes back out to the roof to web down to the ground to enter through the café entrance like a normal person.
He's constantly on the lookout as he drops down near the trash bins. When he walks in, Mark is the first out of your group to arrive. He snags a booth in the corner as he checks his phone.
            we’re sorry
mark i got us a booth
            jaehyun be there in 5
            image attached
Mark smiles at the selfie Jaehyun took with him and Johnny on either side of you. Jaehyun does a peace sign pose, Johnny is making a kissy face, and you’re just softly smiling. A smile that Mark Lee cannot look away from.
“What are you looking at?”
Mark gets spooked by you as Johnny and Jaehyun slide into the opposite side leaving you to sit next to him. He quickly locks his phone as his roommates give him teasing looks.
The server, Na Jaemin from fraternity Dream, hands out menus and readies his tablet. “Hi. Can I get you all started with any drinks?”
“2 vanilla iced coffees, 1 mango smoothie, and 1 ice matcha latte with coconut milk.” Johnny easily recites as Jaemin types it.
“I’ll be back with those as you look over the menu.”
As Jaemin walks away, you look surprised at Johnny, “How did you know my drink order?”
“You’ve sent a selfie with the same drink the past three days.”
You slump back against the cushion. “That’s embarrassing.”
“Not as embarrassing as Johnny thinking he named Spider-Man.”
Mark tenses at the mention of his other identity. He steals a glance in your direction to see if you noticed, but you’re too busy watching his friends start bickering.
“Bro! I totally did!”
“No, dude. You did not.”
Before the duo can start up another pointless fight, you remind Johnny of his story time.
“At least someone’s interested. As I was saying before, it was early October last year and I was walking to the subway when this massive car crash happened in front of me. I thought I was going to get killed, but then I was suddenly out of the way. Some dude in spandex had pulled me out of the way of one of the cars and then he started pulling people out of the wreck. He even jumped over a 10-ton truck. It was insane. After the fire department and ambulance came to help, the dude shot out a web and it came to me, “Spider-Man”, so I yelled that, and he turned around to give me a thumbs up before swinging away. So basically Spider-Man owes me for that copyright, but I’ll let it slide because he saved my life.”
Mark laughs at Johnny’s retelling of the story because of the way he tells people. The superhero was just glad that he had the spidey sense to save one of his best friends.
Jaemin comes back with the drinks and takes food orders.
“Spider-Man is cool. I’m a fan.”
Mark chokes on the first sip of his smoothie from your casual confession as Johnny high fives you.
“Why do you like the Spider Boy?” Jaehyun questions you. Mark sits up slightly straighter in his seat as he focuses all his attention on your answer.
“Do you remember that major subway incident where some asshole pushed that lady onto the tracks?”
The guys nod their heads.
“I was waiting for the train when it happened. I didn’t see the asshole that did it as I was on my phone, but then the frantic yelling of people started and some good samaritans trying to help the lady off the tracks. Then, all of the sudden, Spider-Man runs in and saves her. Thank god he did before the train arrived and he calmed her down while she told him about the person who did it. I just remember feeling so useless but wanting to do more.”
Mark looks over at you as you stir your drink with a spoon, his heart sinking as he remembers. It was the first time he became a hero. The first person he saved – Ms. Smith works at the corner flower shop that his mom loves.
“And I even… never mind.”
“No finish your sentence.”
“Johnny’s going to make fun of me.”
“I won’t let him.”
“Well, I kinda have a crush on him.” You immediately put your head between your arms on the table in an effort to hide away.
Mark freezes at your confession as Jaehyun lets out an “awe” and Johnny’s jaw drops.
“You like Spider-Man?”
“I know. How do you even like a person when you’ve never seen their face, but it’s his personality. In every story about him saving or helping others, he’s always described as the nicest person ever.”
Mark’s ears are turning red from the compliment. He would have asked for what else you thought about Spider-Man, but Jaemin came back with their orders.
“Yo Jaehyun, are you coming to DREAM’s party Friday?”
“I should be free next week if that invitation extends to my friends.”
“Any friend of Jaehyun’s is a friend of mine. Can you get the football team to bring kegs again? Haechan’s throwing the party this time and he won’t shut the fuck up about it.”
“I can get the guys together to do that. I’ll text him.”
“Thanks man. Enjoy your food, guys.”
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
You and Mark meet up and walk to class together. He fills you in on all the bullshit Johnny and Jaehyun got into over the weekend. Something about making a short film where they switch bodies and tried to get Mark to film it.
Before you both can enter the building where your class is, the distant sound of sirens gets closer. You ignore it as you go to open the door, but Mark stops you.
“I, um, have a family emergency so I’ll miss class. Text me. Bye.” Mark weirdly stammers before giving you a quick hug.
You’re left standing in shock as he runs away.
Mark runs to the dumpster behind the university as he quickly changes into his suit. He stuffs his clothes in his backpack and webs it to a lamppost before heading into action. His spidey sense alerted him as soon as the sirens passed, and the app informed him of a fire in an apartment complex a street up.
Once he swings onto the scene, firefighters are battling the fire and evacuating the building. Mark propels himself to the top floor to check for any civilians.
You’re concerned about Mark as he left abruptly and isn’t responding to any of your texts.
you i hope your family emergency isn’t too serious
just let me know you’re ok!
we didn’t do too much in class, but i’ll send my notes
going to the library after class to print something for a class
You’ve never been to the library at 10 PM on a Tuesday night, but there’s a first time for everything. It was shitty that your printer in your dorm had to stop working last night. The first floor of the library was unsurprisingly packed with students as the university’s coffee shop was adjoined and open until 2 AM.
You got into the elevator as the printers were located on the fourth floor. The fourth floor was empty because most people preferred to keep electronic files electronic, but of course your morning class’ professor made the class print their papers to turn in.
Printing the paper was a quick task. There was certainly no line to wait in. You tuck the sacred 5-page paper into a folder to keep pristine and leave the library. You check your phone again for any word from Mark, but nothing. You go to call him, but then the elevator jerks to a stop as the light shuts off. You press the emergency call button and wait for an operator. You try calling Mark again, but your phone can’t get cell service and your battery’s dying.
Sinking to your knees, you hang your head between your hands as the ringing becomes background noise.
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
Mark rushes back to university after the fire, swiftly changing back and shoving his suit into his bag. He checks his phone to see the texts from you and calls you. When your call goes immediately to voicemail, he knows something is wrong.
The hair on the back of his neck stands up and Mark books it to the library. The first floor is filled with chatter and students looking normal so he knows that only you must be in trouble. He goes to the elevators where there’s a student waiting for one.
“Are you waiting for the elevator?”
The girl looks up from texting, “Yup, the other one isn’t working again. Ugh so annoying.”
Fuck.
The other elevator returns and Mark steps in with the girl. She presses the next floor and goes back to her phone.
A million scenarios play out in Mark’s mind. Were you claustrophobic? How long have you been stuck in the elevator? Were you alone?
The silent ride was eating him alive as every second felt like an eternity.
When the doors open and Mark basically throws himself out of the elevator as the girl walks around him, judging. Mark’s senses aren’t going off on the second or third floor, he goes up again.
The second the elevator starts moving up to the fourth floor, his senses kick in. When the doors open, Mark calls out your name. When your muffled voice responds from the neighboring elevator he sighs in relief.
“Mark, can you help me?”
“Is help on the way?”
“No.” Mark starts freaking out. “The emergency button doesn’t work, and my phone died a little while ago, but it wouldn’t even help because my service wasn’t working.”
“Why didn’t you call 911?”
“I’m not dying or in serious trouble!”
“W-what? This is an emergency! Hold on let me get someone!”
Mark runs down the hallway and quick changes into Spider-Man. He shoves his backpack behind a printer in the back corner and runs back to you.
Mark clears his throat before speaking in a lower tone, “Hi!”
“Um hi?”
“I’m going to open the elevator doors, so please stand back!”
“Okay!”
Mark places his hands in the middle of both doors as he pushes the doors open by force. After getting them open he holds out a hand to you as you look at him, well Spider-Man, in shock.
“Spider-Man?”
“Are you okay?”
You feebly nod as you allow Mark to pull you towards him.
“Are you sure you’re fine? I can take you to a clinic.”
You shake your head as Mark leads you down the stairs to the first floor while calming you down, passing confused or excited students. When both of you reach the entrance, Mark tells a skeptical security guard about the broken elevator.
Mark is about to swing away to change when you grab his hand. “Did you see my friend? He has brown hair, brown eyes, wearing a yellow hoodie?”
“I sensed there was someone in trouble and he said he was finding a janitor.”
“Thanks, I’ll go find him. And, um, thank you again.”
Mark looks into your eyes full of gratitude and sends you a wave before swinging away. He makes sure to get far enough before u-turning to the back of the library to change. 5 minutes later, he’s running around to the entrance where you are still standing in shock.
Mark pulls you into a hug as you tell him how Spider-Man saved you.
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
Haechan’s party was tonight, and you had no idea what you were going to wear.
Jaehyun had surprised you at 8 in morning by waking you up, endlessly calling your phone until you told him the password to open the door. A code you were going to immediately change after he leaves.
“Jae, it’s too early for any bullshit.”
He moves his sunglasses from his face to push back his hair, looking dangerously sexy. You have to shield your eyes from his blinding attractiveness.
“I need some help getting the kegs from Jungwoo.”
“Ugh,” You draw out the word as you throw one of your extra pillows at him which he catches, “I don’t want to get up.”
“Okay.” Jaehyun says as he effortlessly picks you up from your bed. “Now you’re up.”
“Put me down, Jeong.”
“Woah, not the last name. Putting you down.”
He gently sets you on your feet from the princess carry he was holding you in.
“I don’t want to know where you’re storing all that muscle to be able to pick me up.”
He smirks, “Wanna see my 8 pack?”
“Absolutely not. Now stand outside in the lobby so I can change.”
You meet him in the lobby after quickly throwing on an oversized shirt and biker shorts. You check over your bag that you have everything you need for the day – your phone, lip balm, sunscreen, your wallet, hand sanitizer, blotting sheets, and your water bottle.
“Okay, I guess I’m ready to tackle the day with you.”
“Don’t worry, we’re not doing anything too crazy.”
“I have very little trust in you at 8:30 AM.”
He puts his free hand on his chest as he fakes getting hurt, “You wound me.”
You roll your eyes in response as you start walking out of your dorm building, Jaehyun following you from behind.
Jaehyun leads the way to the football field as you walk next to him. The walk isn’t too bad and soon enough you hear various guys yelling and spot footballs flying through the air.
“Hey Jungwoo!”
A shirtless, blonde guy jogs up to the you two and dabs Jaehyun up.
“Hey Captain! I thought you weren’t coming to practice until later?” Jungwoo smiles before turning to you, “Oh, and you are?”
You politely introduce yourself as Jungwoo stares into your soul. “It’s a shame I haven’t seen your pretty face around.”
His remark takes you aback as you turn in shock to Jaehyun.
“Right? Imagine my surprise when I saw her for the first time.”
You avoid eye contact, not sure how to respond. “Um… thanks. We’re here to pick up some kegs?”
“Oh right! Let me get Yangyang.”
Jungwoo calls out to another guy behind him, thankfully he is clothed because you don’t know if you could survive another attractive, shirtless guy. He runs up as he greets you.
“I have it in my car, so follow me. Jungwoo, tell coach I went to the nurse or something.”
“Okay!”
Jungwoo jogs off to get back to practice. You and Jaehyun follow Yangyang to his car so he can drop you off at the DREAM frat house. The drive is short since the fraternity and sorority houses are near campus and the sports facilities.
Outside of the DREAM fraternity house on the front lawn are a few guys running around with water guns. The three of you get out of the car, grabbing their attention. Yangyang and Jaehyun wave at them causing one of them to run inside. As the kegs are being unloaded from the trunk, who you presume Haechan is, walks out.
The pretty boy with purple hair waves at you as he takes a hit from his neon green vape. He walks over as he blows a fat cloud into the air and pockets the vape.
He nods his head at you and leans against Yangyang’s car. “Hey.”
“Hi?”
“Are you coming to the party tonight?”
“Yeah?”
“Cool.” He wets his lips as he looks you up and down, “Wear something hot, ‘kay?”
“Okay?”
He gets off Yangyang’s car as he winks at you.
“Thanks for the kegs. I’ll get the guys to bring them into the garage.”
Haechan taps his phone causing the garage door to open showing you the set of workout equipment on the side and a black Porsche parked inside. 2 guys with blonde and Oreo hair come out from the door inside and start moving the kegs.
“Hey Shotaro! Hey Renjun!”
Jaehyun calls out as the frat bros wave back at him.
“So, are you ready to go?” Yangyang stands next to you as you nod. He opens the passenger door for you to get inside. Jaehyun sits smack in the middle in the uncomfortable seat so he can talk to you.
“What next?”
“Our pretty girl might need a shopping trip.”
You felt like the “ugly” but actually stunning main girl whose only transformation is taking off their glasses or hair out from a ponytail and it’s the makeover montage scene in a 2000s romcom. Jaehyun and Yangyang were running around in the local mall piling on different types of clothes into your arms to try on.
Two hours passed by already and you were getting sweaty from trying on the various combinations of tops, skirts or jeans, and dresses. It was annoyingly sweet of Jaehyun and Yangyang, who you just met today, to go out of their way to help you find something to wear.
“Honestly, I could find something in my closet or a thrift store.”
“If we don’t find something in the next 30 minutes I know a good thrift store.” Yangyang throws a black minidress at you and you let it hit your face.
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
As you walk down the street where Johnny parked while fixing the biker shorts under your dress.
Johnny opens the front door of the fraternity only for you to be greeted by the sight of a hundred or so people engaging in various acts of grinding, making out, drinking, or dancing to whatever playlist DJ Yangyang picked.
“Oh my god.” You walk in as Jaehyun and Johnny tail behind you, making sure to stare down anyone who looks at you in a mean or creepy way.
You smile and wave at Yangyang in the corner of the living room as he motions at your trio to come over. The three of you move through the crowd of people partying and try not to have any kind of alcohol accidentally spilling on your new outfit.
Yangyang removes the headphones from his head to his neck and talks in your ear, “You look hot!”
“Thank you! Can we get you anything?”
“Whatever has the least amount of alc by volume.”
“Got it.”
Johnny, Jaehyun, and You find the kitchen entrance behind Yangyang’s DIY DJ booth and open the various coolers filled with alcohol. Johnny helps you pick out Yangyang’s drink from the sea of canned beverages while Jaehyun gets drinks for you all.
As you walk back to give Yangyang his drink, Haechan is talking to him and spots you getting closer to them.
“Well, aren’t you a sight to behold.”
Haechan holds a handout as you take it, spinning you around him.
“That dress fits you perfectly.”
You shyly thank him as you did feel amazing in the red and black dress you bought at a thrift store after the three of you gave up at the mall earlier, but you hid the dress from them so you could pay for it. Jaehyun couldn’t stop staring at you and Johnny couldn’t stop complimenting you when they picked you up from your dorm. You felt that you needed to donate some of your old clothes to keep the good streak going.
The people around you start yelling and both of your heads turn in the direction of the kitchen when a loud crash is heard.
“Fuck. I bet someone tipped over a keg stand. Gotta go.”
He winks at you as he walks into the kitchen. You look around the room to see that J² are nowhere to be seen.
you hey!! where did you guys go??
johnny  we’re upstairs hanging with mark
johnny jeno and jaemin are coming down to get u
You stand by the end of the staircase as you scroll on your phone when someone taps the back of your shoulder. Turning around to see 2 more beautiful guys as they smile at you. The guy with black hair and an undercut introduces himself as Jeno and the guy with brown hair introduces himself as Jaemin.
J² sent 2J to get you. Funny.
They kindly escort you upstairs, down a hallway on the left, and to the room at the end. The door has a sign that says
“HAECHANNIE’S ROOM!
LADIES - FREE
GUYS - $20”
You knock on the door and walk in after Johnny says it’s open.
“Hey.” You greet Johnny, Jaehyun, and Mark who are sitting on the bed with various drinks and snacks surrounding them. Mark moves a reuseable bag full of chips so you can sit next to him as Jeno and Jaemin sit on beanbags.
“So, how’s the party going for y’all?” You ask the frat bros as you dig into a bag of your favorite chips.
Jeno and Jaemin jump into a story of how Renjun challenged Haechan and Shotaro to a keg stand contest where Shotaro won and Haechan complained the rest of the time setting up. Haechan also must carry out a dare later tonight, but Renjun is keeping it a secret.
During the story, you keep looking at Mark to see his expressions throughout the story time. You like him, you realized this after Spider-Man saved you in the elevator, the way Mark comforted you and stayed with you the entire night. Even sleeping on the pull-out bed attached to your bed that was a little too small for him. Mark was paying attention to the story, but right after 2J finished telling the story, he abruptly gets up and runs out the room.
“Is Mark okay?” You ask bewildered as the rest of the guys are nonchalant.
“Oh yeah, Mark does this a lot.” Jaemin tells you as he takes a sip of his beer.
“Really?”
Johnny nods, “Yeah ever since the start of last year Mark’s been really weird like weirder than usual.”
“And stronger for some reason.” Jaehyun adds. “We started working out together last semester. When he thought I wasn’t looking, he maxed out the bench press. I can’t do that and I’m active in sports.”
“So now we think he’s doing steroids.”
“Dude don’t say that.”
“Kidding,” Johnny says as he looks at you. “But there is something going on… like he’s keeping a secret from us.”
“Are you insinuating that Mark is Spider-Man?”
Johnny shrugs. “I didn’t say that, but I also did not not say that.”
“I think you’ve had to much to drink, dude.”
“I’m literally sober. I have to drive you and Jaehyun home tonight.”
As you’re handing Johnny a bottle of water, Shotaro opens the door.
“Johnny or Jaehyun, can you please talk Haechan out of jumping from the roof into the pool.”
The two oldest guys let out a sigh as they get up to stop Haechan from doing something stupid and getting hurt.
₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸⋆。₊✩。🕷˚🕸。
Your little group stands outside on the pool deck as people crowd around the pool chanting at Haechan to “jump”. Johnny and Jaehyun are sticking their head out of someone’s room scolding a tipsy Haechan who is standing near the ledge. It’s only 7 feet between the roof and the pool, but the pool is another 6 feet to dive into and the entire situation just screams “danger” to you.
Haechan is getting dangerously close to the edge causing Johnny to step out onto the roof as Jaehyun holds one of his hands.
“Haechan, we’re bringing you inside.”
“No.” He puffs a cloud of vape into Johnny’s face.
“You’re being an asshole, get in.”
Haechan’s balance is off because as he steps back a bit, his right foot misses the ledge. You can’t watch. The crowd is yelling. You look away only to see a figure jump over the fence.
Spider-Man thwips a web to put an inflatable pool floatie a foot of the ground with another floatie under it to cushion Haechan’s fall. Thankfully, Haechan falls right on the floatie and is safe from breaking a bone or something worse on the concrete.
“Are you okay?” The masked hero asks Haechan as he helps him stand up and check his body.
An eerily similar situation that mirrors exactly what Mark did when you were almost hit by a basketball.
Rushing over to Haechan, you hug him as you’re actively scolding him.
“Never do that ever again! You could have broken your legs or spine or died!”
“Excuse me.” Spider-Man clears his throat as you turn your head to him. “Are you a friend of his?”
“Yes.”
“It would be best to check that he doesn’t have any injuries and keep him inside.”
“Johnny’s probably going to bubble wrap him now.”
“I have to go now but have a good night.”
Spider-Man waves you and everyone else at the party bye as the crowd cheers for him. He then swings out of DREAM’s backyard as Johnny, Jaehyun, Jeno, and Jaemin meet you outside. They all hug Haechan and scold him as well.
“You’re cut off.”
“Seriously?” Haechan whines.
“From everything. End of discussion.”
Most of the crowd disperses inside to tell or show their friends a video of Spider-Man saving Haechan. You’re putting the pool floaties back in the pool when you almost fall in.
“Hey–woah there!”
You look wide up at Mark, who appeared out of nowhere, holding your waist to stop you from accidentally falling in the pool.
“Mark! Thanks for saving me.”
“Anytime.”
You stand back up away from the pool ledge as you smile at Mark. You notice that he’s sweating a bit.
“Could we head inside? I, um, wanted to ask you something.”
He nods his head as the two of you walk inside and then upstairs where there aren’t that many people. You hear commotion in the hallway that leads to Haechan’s room. You’re both curious, so you walk down the hallway to see Jaehyun standing guard outside his room.
“What is happening?”
“Johnny is inside making sure Haechan can’t escape out his window. Well, if he can get out of the bubble wrap duct taped to his body.”
“Figures. Mark and I are going to talk in someone’s room.”
“Oh?” Jaehyun gives you a look.
“We’re not going to fuck in someone’s bed.”
“Sure it isn’t.”
Mark blushes as you grab his hand to walk away down the other hallway. You spot Shotaro standing outside his door.
“Hey Shotaro! Can we borrow your room to talk quickly?”
“Yeah! Just lock the door after and find me at the DJ booth when you’re done. I don’t want a repeat of the first day of summer party where someone threw up in my bed.”
“Of course, and don’t worry, we won’t fuck in your bed.”
You make Shotaro speechless and Mark blushes even harder. You open the door to Shotaro’s room and get inside. His room is cutely decorated with pictures of him alongside the rest of the fraternity and tiny little trinkets sprinkled throughout. The window is open and as you look out of it you can see that his room overlooks the grassy area beside the pool.
A thought comes into your head as you look at Mark who is sitting on Shotaro’s bed across from you.
“I’ve got a lot to say so please hear me out for its entirety.” He nods his head as you stand in front of him. “Mark, I have a crush on you. I thought you were cute the first time I saw you after that basketball almost took me out. I was so excited when we ended up sharing a class together and you sat next to me the next class after we met. Then when you comforted me after Spider-Man saved me. That was the moment I knew that I liked you. I like you, Mark. Maybe even more than that.”
He stares at you awestruck.
“It’s okay if you don’t like me back. Hope we can still be friends no matter what. I just want you to know.”
“I like you too. A lot. I liked you ever since I almost accidentally hit you with a basketball. I liked you when you were excited when you found out we shared a class. I liked you when you saved a seat for me and let me borrow your water bottle. I was so happy when you were safe from being trapped in an elevator. I really like you and, if you want to, I hope we can date.”
“I would love to date you, Mark, but now I’m going to do something that might ruin our relationship before it even starts?”
Mark looks adorably confused as you walk backwards to stand in front of the window.
“You know that I also have a crush on Spider-Man. And I’ve had this hunch since he saved me in the elevator. I didn’t realize it when it was happening due to the adrenaline, but then thinking back on it – when you left while we were walking to class that one time for a “family emergency” and Spider-Man had been spotted right helping firefighter put out a nearby fire. Then, I got stuck in the library elevator and Spider-Man miraculously came to save me. Sure, it could have been a coincidence since the fire was near the university, but I wasn’t in that dire of a situation. I could’ve waited for you to find me after I texted you. Then, just right now, you leave as we’re talking with 4J then when Haechan is in danger Spider-Man shows up in the nick of time to save him? In every situation I brought up, you were there then gone, Spider-Man shows up then leaves, and then you’re back? Never in the same room to witness the masked hero. Something’s not adding up.”
“Am I Spider-Man?” Mark asks while nervously laughing. “You mean you think I’m Spider-Man?”
“I’d bet my life on it.” You tell him seriously as you sit on the window ledge.
“That’s serious.”
“I am serious.”
You continue getting farther out of the window as you possibly can.
Mark slowly stands up, “What are you doing?”
“If I’m wrong… have 9-1-1 ready.”
You then lean back as you fall out of Shotaro’s window hearing Mark yell your name, you barely have your entire body out the window when you stop moving. Opening your eyes, bunches of white strings surround your head and shoulders – Mark slowly brings you back inside Shotaro’s room.
The silence between the two of you is deafening until you open your mouth.
“I fucking knew it.”
Marks hugs you tightly. “Please… never do that again. You scared me.”
“Do you still like me?”
“D-Do I still like you? Yes, I still like you very much.”
“I scared you that bad, huh?”
“What if I wasn’t Spider-Man? Then what? You fall and die?”
“I wouldn’t have done it unless I was sure. Would a kiss make you feel better?”
“A kiss away from the window and maybe on solid ground would.”

The folks who feel really strongly that online spaces and resources are useless to them should try to use that as motivation to take the active steps to join pre-existing physical alterhuman groups local to them or set up those spaces. :V If you're in college as a full-time student, you could start a club or advertise a one-time event around campus with fliers or in your school newspaper or something. If you're a working adult, consider checking the forums and social media platforms to see if any Howls are going already and if not, try to find a location-specific group chat and throw the idea out there in that. Or set something up at your nearest furry con or similar event where alterhumans are likely to wind up just because of how communities intermingle.
If you're an adult but feel like you're in a too-dangerous place to do any of this, but you still find yourself frustrated with digital environments, then get together with some long-distance alterhuman friends that you trust and start sending each other stuff! Record and document the local bird and frogsong of your area, send them a CD with a list of the animals. Write them a letter talking about your alterhumanity and how your day was and ask about theirs in turn. Take some pictures of your favorite local locations, things that get your "kinfeels" roaring, and print and send them. Make art, in whatever way you interpret that. Do mini-zines for one another. Figure out your own thing that works for you.
(If you're an adult with disposable income and a job that lets you request time off/use vacation days, road trips to see alterhuman friends are also a wonder and beauty.)
The options are out there for folks who feel trapped in online spaces and are pessimistic towards digital resources, and they should totally grab them in their teeth and seize them. I've done some of these myself and can pretty highly recommend them from personal experience, but I'm sure lots of other folks have even more suggestions.

Canaan University Au
Ok I thought of a college au for the locked tomb a awhile ago but I never bothered to write it down until now. Anyways I think they would all go to this imaginary university in New Zealand and it’s like the first book but with a lot less murder. Here’s what I think each house would study
Judith- Criminal justice major. Huge stickler for rules and doing homework. If she’s not in the gym reading a textbook while doing push-ups, she’s in the library getting into a heated debate with a Corona. Had a huge crush on Marta and went to the same college as her to hangout, just getting over it, may or may not have feelings for Corona, maybe.
Marta- In law school, was a mentor to Judith when she was in high school and that’s how they know each other. Gently turned Judith down but they’re still friends and study together sometime. Is the DD at every party.
Corona: Majoring in marketing with a minor in fashion merchandising. Doesn’t do great on tests but aces every presentation. President of her sorority. Can and will gaslight frat boys. Everyone wants her but she only has eyes for the stuck up criminal justice major.
Ianthe- Management major with a minor in maybe finance. Commits tax fraud and gets away with it. Sometimes does Corona’s homework for her. Doxxes people online (mostly Babs), smokes in the dorm hallways. Flirts with Harrow during their study sessions, which Harrow ignores.
Naberius- Economics major, and major fuck boy. Makes thirst traps and is doxxed. Hangs out with the twins even though they bully him. Doesn’t do shit during group projects. Will get a job at his dads company post graduation.
Jeannemary and Isaac don’t go to college but are tutored by Abigail at her house. They just silly teens who experiment with makeup and clothes to find their look. Talk loudly about anime in the school hallways. A little cringe but they’re doing their best.
Abigail- Anthropology professor and is really cool. Tough grader but genuinely loves her students and shares trivia with them. Brings donuts to test days. Will accidentally derail class to talk about books or her husband. If one of her students brings up one of the incredibly niche topics she likes, she will talk about it for hours.
Magnus- Not a teacher but visits Abigail's classes often. Nice guy, helps look after Jeannemary and Isaac. I'm not sure what he would do as a job, maybe chef or stay at home husband lol. Regardless, he's the one making all the meals.
Palamedes- Pre-med, wants to become a doctor so he can save Dulcinea save people. Smartest guy in the room always, a go to for anyone struggling with their biology homework. Has a friendly rivalry with Harrow (it's more rivalry than friendly for Harrow but she grows fond of him over time). Is the one derailing class with philosophical debates.
Camilla- Physics major, too cool for you. Really into sports, just not sure which, like gymnastics or soccer or rugby or fencing. Works hard but actually remembers to eat and sleep too. Probably in student government as well. Her and Palamedes are attached at the hip, they later get an apartment together and that's where all the main hangouts with the other characters happen.
Dulcinea- Suffers from chronic illness and focuses her life on learning and traveling rather than getting a traditional job. She's got multiple degrees in stuff like literature, philosophy, and art history. She is active on social media and has a blog, and sells crocheted animals on Etsy. Became mutuals with Pal and Camilla on social media and they met up later when they went off to college.
Protesilaus- Dulcie's caretaker, helps her with her medical stuff. Becomes like a cool uncle figure to her and her friends. Hangs out a lot with Ortus and they share poetry.
Silas- Double major in theology and philosophy. Freaky teen prodigy who graduated high school early and attends university. Little shit who people are either freaked out by or straight up just don't like him. Will snitch on anyone for anything he doesn't like. Really only friends with Colum.
Colum- Silas' nephew, but way older than him, weird dynamic. Not in school but drives Silas to his classes and Silas lives with him during the school year instead of in the dorms. Nice guy, looks out for Silas' well being the best he can but tries to keep him from being too nasty to others.
Harrow- Double major in theology and archeology. Studies at all hours and forgets to eat and sleep. Local cryptid. Autistic with special interests in religion and burial rituals. Went to Catholic school and had a suffocating home life. Trying to grapple with that as she starts to navigate adult life. Also trying to mend her relationship with Gideon after being so harsh in her younger years.
Gideon- Kinesiology major, butch vibes to the max. Does swordfighting and weight training in her down time. Has kissed both Ianthe and Corona at some point, though it never went anywhere after that. Wears her sunglasses at all times even in class. Finds the worst fashions from thrift stores and wears them to piss Harrow off. Grew up with Harrow in a foster home Harrow's parents ran and also attended Catholic school with her but they rarely interacted beyond antagonizing each other. Reconnected after being randomly assigned roommates. Now they're buddies and hang out alongside the 3rd and 6th, (also the 2nd and Dulcie sometimes too). They all do stupid shit together like sing karoke off key and hit up Taco Bell at 2am after binge watching movies.

SO! Awhile ago I sent an ask about how I shoved your OCs into a Café AU and with the latest few post you've been putting up, the AU has expanded.
Dragonfly is the tired barista inherited the Dragonfly Café and its trade secrets from her now retired abroad father, they talk through facetime. She also goes to college where she dorms with Michelle, Fabi and Taylor. She also over charges or short changes rude customers.
Clay is the café cleaner who fills in as a barista when Dragonfly has classes. Dragonfly let's him live in the flat above the café for free since she's already paid for her dorm room and never leaves the café premise other than to take the trash out.
Hayday is the annoying customer who always seems to order complex drinks at inconvenient times, tries making small talk with Dragonfly when she's clearly busy and never tips, the only reason why he's not banned is because Dragonfly can't really afford to ban anyone. He's several part time jobs and sometimes moonlights as a coffee boy for Ant Queen, the local sleazy motels owner, and eventualy Snake Eyes. He totally didn't develop a crush on Dragonfly after she gave him a free cup of coffee and slice of carrot cake after seeing him nearly collapse at the counter on a slow day. He dropped out of college to take care of his mum when she fell ill, is in both medical and educational debt.
Snake Eyes is a sleazy businessman whose been trying to buy the café out ever since Dragonflys father first built it and is now trying to either buy out the property from Dragonfly fairly or bankrupt it until she's forced to sell. He wants to demolish the building and the surrounding area to build something like a mall or apartment complex.
Nighthawk runs a crêpe stand outside of the café and tries to, unsuccessfully, poach customers. He swore revenge on the Dragonfly Café since he blame it for the cause of his parents diner going out of business.
Damselfly is the part time barista that Dragonfly hired to help Clay while she's in class after finding out that he was struggling. She hardly helps Clay in favour of being on her phone and is actually wealthy influencer online but doesn't tell anyone offline so they give her praise for being a 'struggling student working hard to pay off her loans'. She regularly post pictures of Dragonflys and Clays fancy coffee art designs and claims them as her own and keeps tips she receives instead of putting them in the shared tip jar.
Lovebug is the repeat customer who brings a new girl he catfished to the café atleast twice a month. He eventually develops a crush on Dragonfly because she comped his bill after a particular bad date which he believed meant she was into him, he also gets annoyed that she isn't dating him despite never asking her out and rarely talking to her outside of ordering drinks.
The Ice Cream Man is exactly the same as in canon, eldritch 'Wife' and all, no one knows what his deal is but he comes around on the 13th of every month no matter the weather, there could be a Magnitude 10 earthquake, a Category 9 tornado and a literal biblical downpour going on at the same time and he'll still be happily walking down the street with his 'Wife'. Everyone stays out of his way, once Nighthawk begrudgingly spent a day hiding in the Dragonfly Café just because he forgot what the date was when he set up his crêpe stand.
Drosera is the florist who owns the flower shop on the opposite side of the street to the café. She doesn't eat people since she isn't a plant but she'll do anything to ensure her shop stays afloat and is welling to go to some serious extremes in a calm methodical manner to do so.
Detective Victor is a small time detective whose spends his down time trying to slowly untangle the mystery of why businesses in the area around the Dragonfly Café keeps failing. He regularly comes to the café on his lunch breaks and is a good tipper.
Reporter Louise is a small time reporter for the local news agency who once had a bad experience in the café and took it personally. She takes every opportunity to rag on the small café and the only reason why she doesn't get reprimanded for it is because the her personal vendetta with the café is the most amusing thing her news agency has published in years.
Hope you enjoyed and keep uploading more work, you're giving me some serious brainrot with your OCs and I love it!

Hello! I wanted to ask about Americorps. :) First off, are they always taking people? Given the difficulty of finding a job as of late, I was wondering if hiring/the acceptance of applications has slowed any. Second, what's the pay like? Is it just enough to live on, or enough that you could put some towards college debt or savings? Third, where could you apply; are there recruiting centers or is it all online? Fourth, what's life like in the corps, per your experience?
Tumblr media
Here are the programs currently accepting applications (6/4/24). The applications are pretty much always open for at least one entry time (there are 3 entries per year- Fall, Winter, and Summer). I know that the acceptance rate changes with the number of applications, and some years they take everyone, while other years they take fewer applicants. The only way to know if you get in is to apply.
You can use the search feature below to see what programs are available. Make sure the "AmeriCorps NCCC" and "AmeriCorps NCCC Team Leaders" buttons are clicked, click nothing else, and hit "search".
Since it's service, the pay is a stipend. When I was in NCCC in 2018, the stipend for CMs was $300/month and the stipend for TLs was $800/month. I think it's more now so if anyone knows please let me know so I can give more updated info. Keep in mind that:
All your basics- food, transportation, lodging, etc... is covered in full
Any federally backed student loans you have go into forbearance and the interest is paid by AmeriCorps
You get an education award of about $7,000 per service term (up to 2) that can go toward future education, job training or to pay off existing student loans
Basically the only thing you pay for while in NCCC is your cell phone bill and any personal care items, personal clothing, etc...
I saved about half of my stipend while I was in NCCC
Other AmeriCorps programs, like VISTA, pay essentially the local poverty line, since part of the program is learning to live on very little.
You apply online. Call 1-800-942-2677 if you need any help with the application.

Because if Casey was to write a book just about him navigating student life, having more of the college experience he didn’t get in Georgetown, while being Henry’s bf… I would read it hundreds of times over. So to fill in the need, I will supply my own headcanons
Alex gets a solid stable friend group throughout, and somehow he’s made friends with who many consider underdogs. One of them is the daughter of a plumber in NYC, who got into NYU for her undergrad under a full scholarship. One of them is a gay man who was disowned by his family, but is happily married now. His more privileged friends are more aware about the advantages they have and are not assholes about it. He himself is privileged guy after all
He does have classmates who he can sense want to use him for their own gain and social brownie points. His friends are protective about it
When it was apparent to the students that their friend group was a thing, all of a sudden the once underdogs became more popular just by association with Alex. Social climbers want in. Alex kinda feels bad about it but his friends reassure him
June and Nora are happy that Alex has friends from school and outside the Super Six
Alex’s NYU friends get close to Henry eventually, as the former hosts a lot of study sessions at the brownstone as soon as he’s sure he can trust them
Alex’s friends are fascinated by the fact that he can be so ordinary sometimes. Like yes, he’s a brilliant student, was summa cum laude for his undergrad, was a freaking prodigy, but he also gets toothpaste stains on his hoodie and forgets to shave his stubble when he’s busy. He also falls asleep in the library, waking up to one side of his curls flatter than the other. He trips and sneezes and makes mistakes and had to take several trips to the bathroom after insisting on eating his leftovers gone bad (he didn’t have time to get anything else that day, okay?) He was extraordinary but ordinary
They help him get through his fear of disappointing people, of always needing to prove that Alex Claremont-Diaz is deserving because of his own brilliance and not because of his parents (particularly his mother)
The friends also freak out when his Mom calls. They have moms that call them too but like.. hearing the President’s voice on the other line just talking to her kid and asking normal mother questions was a surreal experience. That they don’t quite get used to it.
For one of his friend’s birthdays he gives her an Apple Pencil, because she saved up to buy an iPad from her corporate job so she can annotate her readings from there but mostly used non-Apple styluses cause she didn’t have the budget for an Apple Pencil yet. When she received it she was shocked cause it was expensive for a stylus but Alex insisted. He doesn’t throw around his money, he doesn’t like to make his friends uncomfy with expensive gifts, but he knows when to help
They know Alex loves him when people genuinely don’t know things about him. There are loads of facts about him online and in the press, so when people ask him about things they know are out there and are public knowledge he gets excited. People often already know things about him, it gives him a semblance of normalcy
He still occasionally likes the spotlight though, he is ACD. He loves it most when he can use his influence to do good, like give spotlight to certain charities
He has a cool prof one semester that made them have a karaoke session during the last class. Used the class projector for it and everything. Alex sang London Boy and the class went wild
He once brings a tupperware filled with cookies to share. “My boyfriend baked them,” he said nonchalantly as if his boyfriend weren’t the Prince of freaking England. “He doesn’t have much kitchen experience but he’s been practicing and he’s pretty proud of this one” This was when his friends hadn’t met Henry yet so they were astounded
Eventually they get used to Henry making them tea, handing them drinks, serving them food (a lot of it takeout 😅)
Some study sessions end up being board game sessions, Henry’s included
Alex’s friends often tease him about how in love he is with Henry. Some fake gag when they’re being too sticky-sweet
Alex loves hosting dinners and study sessions and stuffing his friends. He knows a lot of them are struggling with scholarships and rent and jobs that barely pay the bills so he knows it helps them get their mind off a couple meals for the month. He also gets so much food that they all have leftovers to bring home and microwave for breakfast. He chalks it up not being good at estimating how much food they need, but really its his way of helping them. His friends catch on when they notice they always have their favorites ready.
This makes Henry love Alex even more
They discover Henry has a thing for when Alex uses legal jargon. They tease him about it. Henry threatens to throw them in the dungeon
His friends were once sharing horrible college dorm experiences. “Did you stay in dorms, Alex?” one of them asks even if they know the answer is now. “I, err, stayed at home” Home being the freaking WHITE HOUSE, one of them points out
His parents, June and Henry come during graduation. There was media coverage.
That’s it for today. To be honest with you I want to turn this into a fic in the POV of his classmates but I don’t have the time so let’s settle with this brain dump for now 😅

I'm Back!! Kinda...
I know it's been a while since I posted my own content or writing but I wrote this a few years back and never shared it but I know this would be helpful to a lot of you girlies now that the job market has once again taken a downturn. I originally wrote this after landing my first full-time job post-2020.
Like many, I graduated into a pandemic and found myself looking for my first job in the midst of a nationwide hiring freeze. The process was grueling but in failure, there are also many lessons learned and luckily, my search ended in success at one of the biggest tech companies in the world. In the past few years, I’ve worked at some of the biggest and best companies in the world making it past several rounds of interviews, impressing my future colleagues, managers, and even VPs so it’s safe to say I know a thing or two about landing a job. Here goes!
B's Guide to Landing Your DREAM JOB PART 1!
If you’re still in college there are a few things I would suggest a few things.
Start interning as soon as possible. The sooner you start practicing interviewing at companies you’re interested in, the better. Also, a few internships on your resume prior to your graduation will help A LOT. Trust me. You’ll have experiences to speak about in all those behavioral interviews as well.
Become friendly with the professors in your field. They can become a good reference for you later. Even if only one to three times a semester go to your professor’s office and chat. They can also put in a good word for you for programs. This brings me to my next point.
In most industries, there are conferences each year that either offer discounts (or free tickets) to college students and/or are directly aimed at college students. If you’re a POC, find programs aimed at diversifying that industry. These conferences often have recruiting opportunities with large companies and most times the interview process won’t be as rigorous compared to an applicant who may have applied online. I would recommend compiling a list at the beginning of each school year with these program names as well as their application due dates.
Don’t join clubs just to have them on your resume. Aim for leadership roles or redirect your time to other personal projects that interest you. It’ll make for a better conversation with your recruiters and hiring managers to say “I built XYZ because I was interested in ABC” rather than “I was just a member of that club and went to the meetings once a month.”
This varies across industries but for the most part, your GPA isn’t all that important especially after you land your first job after college so breathe.
Perfect your resume and this part couldn’t be more critical. In the age of ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) and fierce competition, it’s become vital that your resume can stand out and communicate very clearly how you’re qualified for the job. Here are my resume tips:
My favorite program to create resumes on is Canva. They have a ton of great templates and are super customizable and not to mention, it’s FREE.
Use quantifiable measurements to show your results if possible.
Use action verbs at the beginning of your bullet points. Personally, I believe each description should have at least 3-4 bullet points but never only 1. Here are some of the words on my resume: Constructed, Spearheaded, Managed, Collaborated, and Lead. All of your descriptions should state what you did, how you did it (programs used, methods, etc.), and the outcome.
I personally think every resume should include your: Experience, Skills, Leadership/ Professional Development (for college students this could mean conferences attended, programs, boot camps, etc.), Projects (shows independence and initiative), Contact, and Education. Make sure your LinkedIn is included in your ‘Contact’ section. You should have a personalized LinkedIn link, that’s free.
Your LinkedIn needs to be at 100% completion. This is a place where you can really show off because there are no space limits. This can showcase every job or internship you’ve ever had, every program or project you’ve had an impact on, etc. The better your LinkedIn, the better chance you have a recruiter finding you and inviting you to interview for a role they think would be a good fit.
Your profile picture ideally is a professional one but if not possibly find time to take one in natural daylight with a quality camera and a plain background. I’ve also seen people using AI to now turn regular pics into professional ones.
Interact with posts, comment, and share. This will help get your name and profile circulating.
Announce that you’re looking for a job to your network. Include your resume and what you’re looking for in that post. You never know who might see it.
Grow your network and the easiest place to start is with people you’ve gone to school with and current or previous coworkers.
Put your resume on your LinkedIn profile (You can do this by attaching a media file)
Know your elevator pitch and know it well because every single person you interview with will probably ask you this. My elevator pitch sounds something like this:
I’m Britt and in  June, I graduated from Icy University with a degree in Math and a minor in Sociology. Throughout college, I completed a number of internships doing _______ and have developed skills in _______. When I was a senior I learned about (or developed an interest in) _____  and did _____ to grow my skills or learn more about it. Now that I’ve graduated I’m looking for a role in ______ where I can continue to ______. (My elevator pitch is now different now that I’ve had two full-time roles but you get the point)
Now we apply.
LinkedIn is your friend here and my favorite job posting platform. Set up Job Alerts for companies you’re interested in so that you have a better chance of being an early applicant.
As annoying as this is, you will have to edit your resume for almost every position you apply to. Use the words they use to describe your roles in your work history and remember to always save your resume as a PDF. This definitely will help you get past the ATS system. Remember to adjust the words used in your ‘Skills’ section too but don’t lie. These days, many companies with decent salaries are giving applicants take-home assignments. This applies to your cover letters as well. (I no longer write cover letters though, no one reads them).  I saved every version of my cover letter and could eventually just mix and match paragraphs according to the type of job I was applying to. Of course, you will still have to change some words to best match the position’s job posting.
The LinkedIn stalking begins. Find someone at the company you’ve applied for and invite them to connect but ALWAYS include a note.  In this note, you will give a very brief introduction and your reason for messaging. Mine usually looked something like this: Hi ___, I’m Britt and I recently applied for the ____ position. I’d love to learn more about the department, the team, and the company. Would you have 15 minutes to chat sometime this week or next? Thanks in advance, Britt.
My tip is that you find a manager on the team rather than a recruiter for the company. I find that they never accept invitations but managers usually will.
On this call, you’ll discuss exactly what you mentioned in your opening note, and remember to have prepared questions for them. If you make a good impression, most managers will be willing to forward your resume to the recruiting team.
Let me know if you all want a part 2 on how I prepare for my interviews. I’d say I have an interview success rate of about 90% in the past 2 years!

Hi! I was wondering if you attended art school? If so, which one?
Hi! I did not!
My family would not have been able too afford it, even though I wanted to (or felt like I needed to), so I ended up going to a California state university because the tuition was free for me thanks to the GI Bill.
At first I was embarrassed by it a little bit, but then I realized that I didn't need an art school, necessarily. I still got a great art education there, the teachers were largely folks who were also working industry artists (thanks to our proximity to Los Angeles), so they were informed, capable, and relevant.
Maybe I didn't get the networking that I would've if I'd gone to an actual art school . I got my first industry job by just sending my portfolio out everywhere relevant-- but that was 12 years ago and things are different, arguably much harder now. But it still pushed me to try new things, I met people of a lot of different disciplines and walks of life that I might not have otherwise if I'd gone to an art school, and I graduated more or less debt free. So I'm thankful for it and not ashamed.
But also I was self motivated enough to try and get the most out of my education, and to learn and grow outside of what was being taught in the classroom as well. The great thing is that there's so many resources online these days that can really help a student facilitate that type of development, a lot more numerous and easy to find than when I went to school.
Anyway, I have a degree in studio arts from a Cal State, and some of my closest art friends in this industry never graduated college. So... getting an art school education isn't always a prerequisite to pursuing a career. It can give you a leg up in a lot of ways, probably! But I'm not someone who can give you the pros and cons of that, since it's outside my experience.

College student Bill/teacher Ford
-
Stanley finds out his big time Professor brother is fucking one if his students. He corners him by taking him out to lunch and then proceeds to mercilessly tease him. This was golden! Perfect Stanford who could do no wrong was fucking his student!
Ford is red faced and trembling. Payback was immensely satisfying.
Stan makes an oh so subtle poke at how he's exchanging sexual favors for A’s. Lord knows Ford never got any before this.
"I would never take advantage like that!" Ford sputters. "Especially concerning grades! Bill has a brilliant mind! Frighteningly so, in fact!"
"Bill huh?"
Ford's mouth snaps shut with a click. Stan laughs. As funny as it was, he knows that his brother doesn't do casual sex. Whatever this thing is, it's far more dangerous than a fling. Ford has only ever crushed on one person (that he knows of). And he is positive his brother had little to no experience before now. No doubt about it. Bill had stolen Ford's naive heart.
Stan tries to warn Ford from going any further. Ford just spits out nasty something and leaves.
-
He's worried for his brother. For his reputation. Stan has never cared about it before, but seeing Ford now makes him worried for the consequences. Ford has worked hard to be where he is today. He loves his job and he loves teaching. This cannot end well for him.
Doesn't take much to find a last name: Bill Cipher. The Bill Cipher. The whole campus knew him. He was the bane of every Professor's existence. Basically there'd been a video last year that had gone viral. Bill had been obnoxiously stating how the chemistry professor was wrong until finally they got fed up and demanded that if Bill was so smart why didn't he teach? Bill got up and taught the rest of the lesson flawlessly.
That wasn't the end of it. Apparently the biology professor was good friends with the chemistry one. She decided to teach him a lesson by giving him a surprise pop quiz on advanced topics they had not covered yet. Bill answered every question correctly.
And so people took notice of Bill Cipher. He was loud, charismatic, and smarter than you. He didn't hesitate to make fun of dumb people. Didn't hold back on his jokes.
Stan can see it now. Why Ford had been so taken by Bill. Ford was used to being the most intelligent person in the room. Bill certainly gave him a run for his money.
God their banter was probably just a bunch of mumbo jumbo equations and theoretical nonsense.
-
Bill liked to poke people. It was his specialty, finding the thing that irked them the most. He could tell with one look. One single look what it would take to bring a person to their knees.
Bill walks into Stanford Pines classroom. He'd read from various online reviews that warning him how hard Pines class was. That he wasn't particularly sympathetic to students who struggled with the material. Also he was a Grammar nazi.
Bill looks at Standford Pines, his turtleneck sweater, his slightly messy desk, and his excited start-of-a-new-school-year smile. This man valued knowledge.
He takes a seat and waits for class to start. He stares until the professor eventually meets his gaze. Stanford Pines chest expands. His eyes grow confident. This man wants to impress him.
This stops Bill. He was infamous at this point. He's had teachers want to humiliate him. He's had ones that wanted to challenge him. There have been indignant ones. Angry ones. Even indifferent.
But he's never had one that saw him on equal footing.
Bill smirks and leans back in his chair. This should be interesting.
-
He doesn't interrupt the entire class. Which is odd for him. Bill never lets an opportunity to show a professor up slip away from him. But he stays quiet and lets Pines teach.
It was cute how carried away Pines would get. He'd ramble on about a subject and blush a deep red when he realized what he was doing.
After class Bill saunters down the steps to Ford's desk and gives him his best smile. The one that makes weaker men melt to their knees.
"I enjoyed the lesson, Professor." He winks. Then leaves.
-
None of the other professors can figure out how the fuck Stanford manages to do it. Bill is a goddamn hurricane and they dread having to go to class. But for Ford, Bill is practically an angel. Offering encouraging smiles and even slipping "you're doing great!" Notes into his pockets.
-
Stan has to find this Bill. Bill looked like he was the polar opposite of his nerdy brother. Sociable. Friendly. Likable. There was a certain chaos that seemed to follow him too. This was worse than he thought. No way this charismatic popular boy was actually interested in a dusty old professor who liked to ramble on about the mysteries of the universe. This was just a fun fling for the 20-something year old.
He confronts Bill by stalking him to the mall. His band of friends were as loud as he was.
Bill separates from the group by announcing he had to go to the bathroom. But Bill surprises Stan by catching him instead.
"I'm finally alone, whatcha want big guy?"
Those eyes creeped him out. Way too much intelligence shifting behind his irises. His brother valued knowledge. But Bill seemed clever and dangerous. He didn't seem the sort of person to desire to help humanity the way Ford did.
"Lemme guess, stay away from your brother?"
Stan frowns. "He's not a toy you can just use and throw away!"
Bill's smile quirks up showing some teeth. "Course not. He's special."
"If you hurt him in any way I'm going to sneak into your bedroom and break your fucking legs with a baseball bat!"
Bill squints. "Huh, you actually mean that." The smile widens. "I like you!”
Stan narrows his eyes.
"Thanks for the warning. I'll take it into account when I have Sixer under me begging for release!"
Stan opens his mouth to tell Bill that Sixer is HIS nickname for Ford dammit! But he can physically feel how petty it sounds so he closes his mouth and chooses to glare.
Before Stan can punch the little twit, Bill saunters back to his group of friends. More likely his group of lackeys. Bill didn't strike him as the type to keep friends. They were less useful.
-
Bill finds it hilarious how ridiculously easy it is to manipulate people through simple flirting and physical contact.
He loves flirting. But he hates sex. It's disgusting. Human bodies, while fascinating on the inside, are exceedingly gross.
He makes an exception for Ford because even though it's weird and wet, he likes the faces Ford makes. And he likes the sounds. It's kinda fun.
-
Desperate to break them up, Stan seeks out Bill's best friend Pyronica.
Christ white people just get dumber and dumber each year. All of them wanting to come up with a new innovative baby name. He met a Tylor last week. God he hated people sometimes.
Stan talks to Pyronica about Bill's relationship with Ford. She is stunned to learn they are having sex. Bill apparently had not told her.
"Wait, wait, wait. Like multiple times??"
Stan frowns. "Uh, yes?"
"Are you sure?"
He throws up his hands. "Why would my brother lie??" Ford wasn't the type to brag about sexual exploits. He was a very private person. Stan had practically had to pry it out of him. The loss of his virginity was no small thing.
"Wow." She says. "He must really like him."
She stares off into the distance. Stan resists the urge to follow the direction of her gaze. The longer he stands there the more he feels like he is missing something.
"What?" He finally asks.
Pyronica's gaze snaps back to him and she looks incredulous as she says, "Bill doesn't like sex."
Stan laughs so hard he almost falls over. Almost. "Yeah and I'm the king of France!"
Pyronica raises an eyebrow.
The laughter dies a little.
It's literally impossible not to like sex. It feels amazing! What the hell was there not to like about having your mind blown?
"Oh come on, you're pulling my leg!"
"Well clearly you've already made up your mind so don't let me get in the way of your opinions."
She turns to leave. Stan just stands there.
Doesn't like sex? Ha! He'd be damned if Bill hadn't just told her to say that to mess with him. It'd be right up that asshole’s alley too.

Adulting 101: How Jobs work
I feel like there is a LOT of terrible advice on the internet about getting a job, working a job, and leaving a job. So I am going to give some real advice that will help you out in the long run.
Welcome to Adulting 101
So for this I will be discussing the Core tenants
Getting a Job
Working the Job
Leaving the Job
and
The Farewell
(Note this is mainly for work in the Corporate sector but I can assure that applicable information can be applied to other Job areas.)
Getting a job
So you are fresh out of college, and now you realize those student loans arent gonna be paid by the government after all. So what are you going to do?
The answer is get a Job.
But how are you going to get one?
1. Connections:
-If you havent already, start with creating a Linkedin account and try to connect with every person you have ever met, especially if you are going into the field of work with the individuals.
After that, try searching LinkedIn for every person that is in a high position in the field you want to start your career. Most won’t respond, but some will and that is good for you.
Most people in the corporate world that get interviews for their first job with good companies are usually through connections. Leverage family, friends, old employment, old internships, etc.
-I also recommend staying in touch with your Alma mater, professors are usually people with connections and if they like you can help pull some strings. But if not, the school usually will have some sort of program that will help you get your first job. Though not all colleges have it, but its best to check.
-Always avoid sales jobs. Now some sales jobs are fine and legit, but its usually gonna end with the company taking the list of people you know and selling to them before tossing you aside. It burns your friends and Family’s good will. Thats usually the reason why at least once in your life you will have someone from high school reaching out to you about ‘A product or service’.
-Nurture the network. You want people to like you enough to recommend you for jobs, especially this early on. Your experience is garbage and you have no negotiating power. Unless you are from an Ivy league school and have a 4.0. You have no value in the eyes of the company alone. So your best bet is to lean on people you know.
2. Resume
-For the love of crap, work on your resume. Doesnt matter how good your connections are, if you made your resume out of crayon you are screwed. Take time to format it, look up some how to guides, ask some people you know how they worked their resume. It is not fun, but it is important. Resumes are what get people in the door in a lot of cases. The best resumes on online applications are filtered based on how close they fit the job description.
-Make sure to keep that resume updated and easy to edit so you can alter it to match a job description better. This is a trick to help improve the odds of selection.
-Same thing but with Linkedin, there are recruiters on Linkedin and other sites that search for canidates. Most of them are sales jobs, but some arent and you can leverage them if possible
-Since this is on Tumblr, I’m going to tell you this upfront, don’t put your pronouns in your resume. I was talking with a recruiter and that’s a thing they use to filter out so most online applications won’t see it. Mainly cause it’s seen as Filler and stuff like this will be addressed later.
3. Certifications and internships
-When you are new in the workforce, you will need ANYTHING to differentiate you from the crowd, having a certification in whatever is needed in your field is always a bonus. Granted these cost cash to get into, so this is more of a last resort when you are looking for your first job.
-Internships after college are often seen as a bit tough to manage since they usually dont pay as much as a real job (depending on the state or country, at all), but if one is unable to get a job, this is a ticket to building a network.
4. The Interview
-All of that work from the previous 3 subjects have led you to this moment, your interview. Now this is a make or break it moment and it is important to understand the following:
*Is this a multiround interview? (Will there be more than one?)
*Who am I interviewing with (The interviewer, the company, and for what job)
*What is the purpose of the interview? (Is this a formality? A job description?)
-Now it is crucial to know your resume inside and out. You need to speak to what you know. So be sure to know it well.
-Always answer in a way that puts you in a more positive light. But dont try the “My greatest weakness is working too hard” they can smell that bulls*** a mile away. If you had to describe a negative, make it seem like you are working to fix it. This demonstrates you can look at yourself objectively and makes it seem like you are more of a genuine person. My go too response is “I have a habit of hyper focusing on a task until it is complete, but I have been working on focusing on what has the highest priority.”
-At the end of the interview, make sure to have questions prepared to ask the interviewer, and dont ask about salary. (Salary is asked after the job is offered, and usually you will usually hear about the salary range before going in, or the official number AFTER they give the offer). My go to question is asking “What are three traits someone would need to have to thrive in this position?” But do try and think of your own
-Dont be nervous, remember that this will likely not be the only interview you will have, especially with how desperate people are to get workers. So you will get a few. Just do your best, you got this.
_______________________________________________________________________
Working the Job
You did it, all that hardwork and dedication had paid off, you got your first job.
Or maybe this is your second job. But most importantly, its work with a salary. The most tedious part is over, next is where the real work begins.
1. Adjusting to work
This period of time will you learning all you can about your job, this is the 30-60-90. AKA, the Trial period.
Show up a bit early and leave a bit later (unless your commute is over an hour. Then you just try to be as close to on time as possible.)
Your first 30 days is you finding out where everything is, how it works, who you interact with to get work done, and find the bathroom. This is where the expectations for you as an employee are at their most lenient. Dont take this as a rest opportunity, You are meant to learn as much as possible about how to do your job. (also connect with all the people on your team on Linkedin)
The next 30 days are your real test. Likely will be given your first real assignment if it wasnt given already. This is where you need to knock it out of the park. Crush that first assignment. Show everyone you are a pleasure to work with, Be compassionate yet driven. This is the ‘Prove yourself phase’
The last 30 days is the “Dealmaker” here is where you get to show your impact on the company. Your work must be consistent and must be solid. You can be allowed some error, but dont focus too much on it. This is where you show what you learned and are a part of the company. After you make it past this stage, you are likely to not have to worry about being fired. That doesnt mean your safe. It just means you are officially a part of the company.
-Now from here on out this is your chance to grow in however you want. Do you have ideas that you think would make things better? Give them a go, try discussing them with your boss, see what he/she thinks of them. You think there is a sector of the company you would work better in, use this position as an opportunity to grow closer and maybe transfer. Just be sure to keep your work consistent
2. Time to excel
So this is where you start career building. You want to make the big money. You want to be strong and independent with the fat stacks? You gotta work bitch.
You gotta take initiative, when there is an opportunity to shine to the higher ups, take it. Not every opportunity will be given. But sometimes there are ones that are gift wrapped.
Do NOT over extend yourself.
This is important, yes you want to stand out, but over extending yourself just to impress can cause your original work to suffer. You need to know your limits. And be willing to ask for help when needed.
Don’t talk smack about your boss, or other coworkers.
In the game of office politics, you never want to give someone an opportunity to make you look bad. Be respectful, and keep any complaints or issues you have with someone objective.
Take responsibility. Don’t try and blame others when something fails. Own up to it and ask for ways to improve. That shows character and in the game of career building, that’s a solid way to show you are capable and bold.
____________________________________________
Leaving a job
So you find yourself working at this job and you realize. I hate it here. Now the first instinct is to quit and figure it out later. Or the term “Quiet Quitting” which is doing the bare minimum required and ride it out. Let me correct this by showing you what to do.
Figure out the Why.
Why do you hate your job now? It’s actually the simplest step. Usually boiling down to the following
1. My boss sucks.
Most employees end up quitting their jobs because of their boss. Either they are critical, take credit for your work, blame you for their mistakes, make you work late. Preventing you from taking vacation. Or insert specific reason here.
If the boss is the only reason you hate the job, then this is where you can start by requesting transfers to other areas of the company. Make an effort to find someone you wouldn’t mind working under, or find a way to show that your boss is violating your rights and agreements. If you can get a recording or emails to show to HR, than you can find ways of dealing with the horrible boss. Though if all else fails, then it’s time to consider leaving.
2. You need higher pay
If your company doesn’t give pay raises, and you find yourself not progressing a more favorable direction, then it’s time to discuss with your boss your concerns. Now if your boss is reasonable and not like a boss from reason 1, they will likely take into account the work you do and try to get you the raise.
But that’s only if you are working hard. Demanding more money but not doing anything more than what the job is asking won’t net you a pay raise unless you are exceeding expectations. In truth most companies would like to not lose workers, so voicing a concern would be a good way to get more cash.
Though if you are working hard and going above and beyond yet still not getting the money you deserve. It’s time to search for a place that will. Don’t quit yet, find the new job first and than leave.
It’s common curtesy to let the company know with a two week notice. That’s mainly so you don’t entirely burn connections. If you don’t care about the company, just quit.
Side note, and THIS IS CRUCIAL
If your company hears you are leaving and tries to match it. DONT take it. It’s a ploy. They will look for your replacement as soon as you accept the deal. They know you are finicky and looking. If you accepted a job offer, DONT BACK OUT.
3. This is not the career I want
You realize that this just isn’t where you want to be for the next couple of years. That’s fine. In fact, good on you for recognizing that you aren’t content with your work. But that begs the question, what Do you want.
At this time, stay working while you do research. No need to quit if you don’t know what it is you want. Maybe you want to be focused on different things but still in the same company. Transfers are more common and it’s easier to move and employee than lose one. So if you like where you work but not what you do, maybe see what other options there are in house before leaving.
But if you really want to go after something then find yourself peeping for that path. And when you are ready to go, then quit. Be polite and cordial. It wasn’t them it’s you. A two week notice would be the polite thing in this case.
The Farewell
Things aren’t working out with your current job and you’ve decided it’s time to leave. Ensure the following.
1. You have another opportunity lined up
2. You connected with everyone worth while
3. You have your letter/email of resignation ready to go
Now if your opportunity has a time before it starts. Great time for quiet quitting. You are basically out the door, you can take it easy. So enjoy these last moments before you leave and get ready for the next step in life.

MILGRAM, Growing Up & Maturity
Recently, I've been thinking about MILGRAM and its prisoners connections to the concept of age and growing up - not every prisoner has a connection to this theme, but I think it's worth talking about!
Haruka - Haruka still sees himself as a child (his age is listed as 17, so he technically is) though in his MVs, he's often shown as a very young child, which makes sense considering his story centers around his relationship with his mother (and likely his life in the school system/being mistreated as a disabled child). Haruka represents being stuck growing up forever, never being supported enough to grow into an adult.
Yuno - Yuno's young age was often used as a point of skepticism by the audience during T1. She was told she was just too immature to know what she was doing/was barely an adult etc. Yuno spoke out against this view in Tear Drop, which represents her as a mature adult, despite her young age. She mirrors Haruka in this aspect. She grew up as fast as she liked, her decisions were her own. She was allowed to become an adult exactly when she wanted to.
Fuuta - Fuuta, even being 20 years old, still acts very much like a teenage bully - or at least, that's the act he puts up. He goes along with the crowd and doesn't really know his own place in the world just yet. He's not even able to realize the harm he's doing to his online victims until his 'murder'. When he's voted guilty in T1, this bully attitude is finally stripped away and he seems more like a confused young boy than a confident college student. Fuuta hasn't quite reached the point where he can call himself a grown adult yet.
Muu - This one is a little harder to properly pinpoint. Muu has been pampered by her rich parents all her life and has never had to make many decisions or work for herself (assuming she was actually a queen bee bully type). The first decision in her life that's actually hers is, tragically enough, her murder. She seems to see herself as someone who can boss around adults already when she clearly still has a lot of growing up to do.
Shidou - Shidou seems like the most mature prisoner of all. He had a family, a wife, kids - though that's been taken away from him, he still retains a wiseness that the other characters don't seem to have. Shidou is an adult who would rather be taken apart by piece by piece than see others be hurt. He often talks about his childhood in his extra material, almost seemingly longing to be a child again, where he had to experience no loss and no growing up.
Mahiru - Mahiru, as contrasted by Shidou, is very lacking in experiencing what she values most in life - love. She's in college when she finally gets what she wants, and she doesn't understand what being in a relationship truly means. In her 2nd MV, her view of her relationship is almost childishly whimsical. There's a carousel, sweets, a party just for her. This is to symbolize her still needing to grow and see the real world for what it is, also linked to maturity.
Kazui - With the next pair, this motif is a lot easier to see. Kazui is the oldest prisoner in all of MILGRAM, but he is still immature at heart. He often talks almost like he resents being an adult, wishing to be irresponsible again. This may sound similar to Shidou at first, but the difference between Kazui and Shidou is the fact that Shidou doesn't seem to mind being affected by societal norms (having a family, a good job, wife and kids...) as much as Kazui. Kazui wants nothing more than to be as free as he used to be before his relationship (either because he doesn't want to have just 1 relationship or because he hates the norms being forced on him). This might just be disproven in like 1 month but.. we'll see?
Amane - I feel like Amane is almost too obvious for me to write anything about her. First off, she's a child. Obviously she's still growing up and learning - but she's a child trope flipped on her head, she's only twelve, but she's obsessed with being a mature adult (assumedly to be respected by her elders in the cult). Often showcased in the Minigram comics is her childish nature surfacing in calm moments, but it never lasts. She's been forced to grow up too fast and there's no undoing it for her.
I feel like I can't really connect this theme to Mikoto and Kotoko, honestly. We just don't know enough about them yet - So maybe I'll expand on this once their T2 MVs come out? Feel free to add on if you'd like, though. :) Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed!

hiii, i am also interested in cybersecurity but don't know how to gain skills to start it as a career after graduation next year
Hi! First of all, good luck with your last year before graduation! it can be kinda hectic and kinda scary, but there are lots of good things in store!
The cool thing about cybersecurity (and computer science in general tbh) is that there are lots of opportunities to learn things on your own!
(Brief side note: my recommendations are U.S.-centric, just because that's where I am and where my experience is. The industry may be a bit different if you're in a different country, but lots of things should be the same.)
This got very long, so I'm putting it under a read more. The tl;dr is:
play CTFs
get an entry-level certification (or even just study for one!) - the CompTIA Security+ is a great choice
join or start a cybersecurity club on campus (or join a professional organization like Women in Cybersecurity)
stay up to date with cybersecurity news
learn some skills on your own time: networking, programming, general IT skills, etc.
If anyone wants more information about any of these suggestions, let me know & I'd love to make a separate post about them!
CTFs Capture the Flag games are how I initially got into cybersecurity and they're a fantastic way to practice new skills in a fun, real-world kind of environment. If you've never done one, you absolutely should! Here are a few of my faves:
Cyber FastTrack is my top recommendation. It's only available to current college students in the U.S. (and requires U.S. citizenship), but the challenges are fantastic & they have awesome learning materials. It generally runs October-April each year. I did well in this CTF and got a scholarship for the SANS.edu Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Cybersecurity - that's 4 certifications & nearly $19k of free training. It's ridiculous and I love it. Highly recommend.
CyberStart is the same set of challenges, but you have to pay to access all of it. It also has programs similar to Cyber FastTrack for high school students, high school girls, and UK and Canadian students - check their about page.
picoCTF - I haven't done this one before but it's constantly recommended as a good beginner CTF. It looks like you can practice online at any time, but they also do a yearly high school competition.
OverTheWire Bandit - This site has several different wargames (similar to CTFs) that teach you different topics, but Bandit is the one to start with. It teaches you lots of Linux things & will give you the skills to play the others.
Certifications Certifications are a recommendation or a requirement for many (if not the majority) of cybersecurity jobs. They're not a replacement for experience, but getting one as a student demonstrates that you have the passion and work ethic to pursue cybersecurity on your own. Studying for an entry-level certification is also a fantastic way to get a general understanding of the field and pick up some essential knowledge.
The main one I see recommended is the CompTIA Security+. I studied for this certification very slowly for a long period of time, because I was using it to learn cybersecurity in general. It covers a lot of material but it also goes very in-depth in places. I got this cert because I knew it could get my foot in the door in lots of places, and just telling people that I was studying for it was a way to impress potential employers!
Professor Messer has a ton of fantastic, 100% free training material for the CompTIA certifications. In addition, you can use all the free resources that you have as a student to study for this. I used LinkedIn Learning courses, check if your college or local library give you free access to this.
In addition, there are technically 2 CompTIA certifications you should have before you get the Security+: the A+ and the Network+. The A+ is just general IT knowledge, and you can probably skip it if you're decent with computers. Having a solid understanding of networking is super important, so it's worth going through the material for the Network+ even if you're not going to pay to take the exam.
(Also, taking the Security+ exam while you're a student lets you get the academic discount! I think that saved me $100-$150.)
Clubs and Professional Organizations Join a cybersecurity club at your school if there is one. It's a great way to meet other students interested in the same things and get advice. They may also have tech talks, run CTF events, or have local professionals come and speak. If there's no cybersecurity club at your campus, consider starting one!
You can also join a professional organization. The only one that I know of is Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), and they do lots of great stuff. Student membership is $20/year, and then you get access to their webinars, a mentorship program, their member community, and student scholarships to the WiCyS conference. I was lucky enough to get a scholarship to the conference this past March and it was a really fantastic experience. I was also the president of my campus's student WiCyS chapter! If you're looking to start a cybersecurity club, WiCyS has good support and resources for their student chapters.
Stay Informed About Cybersecurity News Cybersecurity is always evolving, so it's important to have current knowledge of what's happening in the industry. This gives you real-world examples that you can keep in your mind while you're learning new concepts, and it's also a way to impress employers during interviews. These are a few of my favorite sources:
SANS Internet Storm Center StormCast Podcast - 5 minutes of security news every weekday morning
Blogs:
Krebs on Security
Schneier on Security
Malwarebytes Labs
Learn Skills on Your Own Cybersecurity involves working with lots of different technologies. Having solid foundations in these areas will help you a lot:
computer networking (OSI model, ports & protocols, how the internet works, firewalls, etc.)
Linux commands & Windows PowerShell
programming/scripting
cryptography basics
"everyday" security: if you're the IT person for your friends & family, know how to answer questions like:
"How do I set a good password?"
"Should I use a password manager?" (yes.)
"Where should I use MFA?" (everywhere.)
"How do I keep my home network secure?"
"How can I avoid getting scammed?"
This DIY Feminist Cybersecurity Guide is one of my favorites for general security hygiene information.
This got really long (over 1k words! wow!), but I hope it was helpful! Please feel free to send me any more questions you might have, whether specific or broad! I think cybersecurity is a great place to be and I love sharing resources and talking about it!

Hello,
I’m a vet student entering into my second year and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t considered leaving vet med for human med since I’ve discovered clinical practice isn’t for me. I’m becoming increasingly interested in pathology and I love the thought of performing necropsy often in my daily life. However, I’m starting to wonder if veterinary pathology is worth the large pay cut compared to human pathology. I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic as I’d appreciate any advice!
Hi there!
There are several layers to this question and I'm going to do my best to address them all, so bear with.
The first factor you're considering here is clinical practice vs pathology. I also realized part way through vet school that I didn't see clinical practice as a good fit for me. That's what I had gone into vet school planning to do, but as the years went by I eventually came to the conclusion that the pace, the day to day tasks, and the overall feel of a clinical practice job didn't suit me. Luckily, I also found pathology during that process. I love histopathology and working at the microscope, I enjoy necropsy and interpreting lesions, and I like the pace of working in pathology. It suits me much better. It sounds like you've already got a feel for that difference, and that's great! If you haven't yet, I would highly recommend looking into this further by reaching out to some veterinary pathologists to talk about what their day to day looks like (make sure it lines up with what you have in your head) and, if that all sounds interesting to you, what steps you need to take during and after vet school to head down that path. The pathologists at your vet school are a great place to start. Other resources that may benefit you are the Davis-Thompson Foundation (veterinary pathology education charity who do lots of seminars and I believe offer a scholarship to support veterinary students doing pathology externships); the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP); and the Society for Toxicologic Pathologists (STP). The ACVP and STP both hold yearly conferences which are discounted for vet students (and have scholarships) and are another great way to meet pathologists and see what we're up to! (I'll link these organisations at the bottom of this post). The ACVP also has a job board where you can see what options are currently being advertised (although this is not an exhaustive list). There are a lot of different ways to be a veterinary pathologist, including positions in academia, research (I know several veterinary pathologists doing research for the USDA), industry/toxicologic pathology (medical device development, pharma, etc.), zoo and wildlife pathology, aquatic pathology, commercial diagnostics (e.g. IDEXX), and many more.
Next, what may be the biggest question here, should you do human med or vet med? Nobody else can answer this question for you, but I'll try to provide some thinking points to help you figure it out. Firstly, while there are similarities, it's worth noting that the two aren't identical fields just with different species. What kinds of cases you see, how residency and senior positions work, what your day to day looks like; all of these differ somewhat between the two professions. I've never worked in human med, but there are some great pathology residents sharing their experiences online if you want some insight. Think about what you're comfortable with too - I find lesions on people gross, but lesions on animals fascinating. In vet path we also get to work on a huge range of species! Just during my residency so far I've worked on everything from coral, insects, and fish, to bears, elk, and cougars. This inherent comparative nature of vet path is, I think, unique to our field. Or maybe the increased access to specific diagnostic tools and broader testing capabilities of human path appeals to you more. Again, you may want to reach out to people working in human pathology to learn more about what they actually do.
Importantly, you already chose vet school over med school at some point. What was your reasoning? Do those reasons still hold if you don't want to work in clinical practice? You're already in vet school, is the appeal of human pathology worth starting over in med school? Only you can answer those questions.
Finally, the "pay cut". You're not wrong that, as a general rule, you will be paid less to work in vet med than in human med. Despite being equally highly educated, trained, and skilled, that's a given and something we all have to reckon with when deciding which field is for us. But it's also worth noting that there are ways you can work in vet med and still be well paid. And there are a lot of different ways to be a pathologist. For example, the ACVP 2017 Salary Survey reported that the median salary for veterinary pathologists in industry, with 0-2 years post training experience, was between $140,000 USD and $199,999 USD (depending on location). Highly paid and more experienced industry pathologists reported salaries over $280,000 (these numbers are due to be updated soon). Now, depending on your lifestyle, obligations, debts, location etc. what you consider "high paying" or "adequate" is going to differ, so I can't tell you that any of those numbers is "enough". But I would factor into your decision what kind of pay you think you need and want, and how highly "paid well" ranks in what is specifically important to you in picking a career.
Ultimately, while I think the gap should be smaller, I don't see working in vet med instead of human med as taking a "pay cut" because we're not doing the same job, and because vet med is the right place for me. But that is based on how I rank my priorities, and you're in no way wrong if you feel differently.
I hope this helps, and let me know if you have more questions!
