I've known this man for sixteen years -- and we never met until a few days ago. Back Story: 16 years ago, my husband suggested that I check out this cool new social networking site called Myspace where I could design my own page, put up music and create my own little narcissistic playland (and he didn't exactly describe it like that but whatever.) I used this platform to write and read poems from people all around the world and eventually creating lifelong friendships. Somehow, this man from Slough stumbled upon one of my many rant like poems and we became friends. Through that platform, we've watched each other's relationships blossom, kids grow up and even reconnecting via Facebook when Myspace became ancient news. I met practically everyone on my short list of real life people who inspired me over the years and wasn't sure if I'd ever have the opportunity to meet him or his partner @kat_francois. When I gained entry into the Berlin Marathon, we knew this would be that defining moment. I'm thankful to not only meet them but to hug the person who inspired me to run and train for a race in 2013.
