you three were called the golden trio.

reo mikage was the all rounder, his charming looks enchanted many. not only that, he was a kind soul, but tended to be cocky sometimes. his speech alone puts others in a trance, flashing aura blinding them. though he was friendly to others, he'd have a rather ruder attitude towards those who he disliked, scaring them.

nagi seishiro was the lazy genius, despite not putting in effort into anything, he excelled at most aspects of life. though his laziness often put people off, many often were entranced by him. he was lazy, always dozing off in classes, never giving any attention to anyone. he tended to dismiss everyone, almost always in his own world.

you who caused people's heads to turn. bold, never one to shy away from anything too intense. a pearly smile from you was all it took for someone to fall for you. you were the the top third in school in studies, with reo and nagi surpassing you. you tried your best in everything, and your bold personality drew others to you.

you, reo and nagi met when you were 10, at a playground randomly. you three just clicked together, and slowly, you started hanging out together, turning the bond between you three into superglue, keeping you three from separating. it seemed like the closeness you three could get was never ending, you three only seemed to get closer and closer together.

but obviously, that causes something new to form among it.

unbeknownst to you, you had both reo and nagi wrapped around you finger.

as they hung out more with you, they realized that feelings started to develop for you. the wide and confident smile you bore on your face sent their ears to flush red, and the tight hugs you would provide them comforted them with a warmth.

however, both reo and nagi knew that the other also had feelings for you. this caused a silent opposition to spark between the two.

oblivious as you were, even you'd notice the tension in between the two when they were with you.

reo would casually hold your hand tightly, walking with you to the next class, while the slacking nagi tried his best to keep up. reo's pace quickens, desperate for nagi to be left behind, just so he could have more time with you.

nagi would call you over to come to his house and game, leaving out the part that he never invited reo, to spend more time with you.

their actions slowly grew more and more obvious, but somehow you really never caught on.

"hey, wanna go to a cafe for lunch later? just the two of us?"

reo asked you casually, his heart beating faster and faster as he stared down into your eyes as you contemplated the thought. recently, you did realize that their actions seemed to revolve more around you and not around whatever else it should be. you'd always push it off, but now it started to bug you more.

"reo, but what about nagi?"

your innocent question was enough to make reo's eyes narrow, jaw clenching slightly at the mention of nagi's name. his eyes darted around the room, as if an excuse lay there.

"nagi.. is busy." giving a sour smile, completely not acknowledging that nagi was right behind him.

"i'm busy?" nagi asked from behind reo, his question innocent, but clearly laced with spite and jealousy. seeing each other, reo managed a sour smile, full of frustration, as nagi was clearly going to tag along.

"thought you were" reo muttered under his breath, before offering to walk you to class. the tension was so clear between the two of them, that you couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. this was clearly unlike them.

nagi muttered something that wasn't full audible, before completely draping himself over you. suddenly so clingy, but you never cared for it.

your captivating self drew everyone to you, despite you not noticing it. you could have anyone you want, but these two pined for you.

week after week, their actions became bolder and bolder, even your friends started suspecting they had feelings for you. well, you always brushed it off, but you couldn't deny that even you started suspecting it too. well, it came to light one day.

you went to the school campus on a weekend, to drop off some items for reo and nagi for their upcoming soccer match. when you were walking to the locker room to drop them off, it came to your mind that you didn't inform them in advance that you were coming. should be fine, right?

well, when you almost opened the door to the locker room, you could hear an agitated reo and a tired nagi.

"nagi, you like her don't you?" by guess, you thought that nagi would deny it, but surprisingly you head a faint "yeah".

reo too admitted it, and it finally dawned upon you that your two best friends, from childhood, came to have feelings for you. the two's conversation was filled with tension, hoping to win you over eventually without the other. many people told you that you could have anyone you wanted, well, you never expected that it could go to this extent.

slowly, you opened the door, revealing yourself and the totebag full of items you bought for them.

reo and nagi were caught off guard, now calculating in their minds if you'd heard their conversation.

"um. i wanted to give you guys these for the upcoming match."

holding out the totebag to them, you deliberately avoided eye contact with either of them, looking to the lockers as if your favorite drama was playing. this gave the duo confirmation you heard their conversation.

glancing at each other, nagi let out a sigh, holding his neck with his hand. while reo too let out a sigh, running his hand through his hair. taking the totebag from you, reo opened his mouth to talk to you, but you turned around quickly, determined to leave the locker room to escape the awkwardness. until nagi held your wrist, wanting you to hear them out.

"you heard us right? reo and i both like you, so give us time for us to win you over." nagi said it so casually as if he was talking about his video games, but you gotta admit, you heart fluttered at those words. reo chuckled, flashing you a charming smile, in agreement. now with the knowledge that your two best friends liked you, you were slowly getting flustered under their gazes. sticking out your tongue, you ran out of the locker rooms.

from then on, their actions towards you were bolder and more obvious, with clear effort being put in between the two to try and see who won you over first.

at one point the two were basically fighting over who would walk you home.

you can have anyone you want, but you really have those two wrapped around your finger.

I hope everyone is having an awesome week. This week was a bit hectic. My nephew is moving. He's all grown up and going off to college. Ugh! I feel old. I remember when he was a baby and I held him in my arms. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this non-Crosshair chapter.

Layla took her time going up and down the aisles at the grocery store, she wanted to make a meal for Crosshair, that would at the very least help restore her family’s good name. 

I picked up a pasta sauce, reading the ingredients. When I heard someone clear their throat, I turned to glance and saw Howzer standing there in his police uniform.

“Howzer?”

“Hey, Layla” he smiled, his pearly white teeth beaming at her, he ran his hand through his hair, “funny running into you here.”

As much as I wanted to be annoyed with him, I couldn’t because he did have this swagger about him that intrigued me. Didn’t hurt that he was extremely good looking. The whole Fett clan had ridiculously good genes. 

“Well I don’t live that far from here, the question is what are you doing here?”

Howzer grinned as he looked at her, moving to stand beside her as he leaned against the aisle, “I don’t live that far from here either, and I just finished my shift.”

“Imagine that” I smirked, “you live so close that we share a grocery store.”

He couldn’t help smile as he looked at her, “Imagine that.” His eyes slowly cascaded over her outfit, “Take it you just finished work too?”

“I did, I’m just doing a little light shopping, since I’m having someone over for dinner tomorrow, and I don’t feel like cooking today.”

There was a strange sensation in Howzer’s stomach, one that made him flinch. He wasn’t sure, but he had a good idea it was jealousy with a hint of pain, “I see. Cooking for someone … special?”

The corner of my lip slowly lifted into a smirk, “Is that your way of asking if I have a boyfriend?”

“No. Not just a boyfriend, you could have a girlfriend, husband, wife, hey I’m open.” He smiled, fighting back a laugh. 

“Well, before you start listing all my non-existent significant others, no. I don’t have anyone special. I’m making Crosshair dinner tomorrow since he’s coming over to help fix a few things at my place.”

“You know Cross lives … a good 15 - 20 minutes away, and I’m just in the neighbourhood, if you ever need something fixed, you can always just ask me.”

It felt as though my cheeks were being pulled back involuntarily as I looked at Howzer, “I appreciate the offer, but it’s a bet we have going on right now.”

“Ah. A bet. Okay.” He chuckled, “That’s what the kids are calling it.”

I shook my head, lightly smacking his arm, “It is a bet. It’s a long story but my sister was a horrible cook, so I’m showing him, it’s not because of me.” I focused back on the pasta sauce, picking up another one and reading the ingredients, before putting it in the cart. 

“Ahhh, I see said the blind man to his deaf wife.”

Howzer couldn’t help focusing on the smile on her lips, the warmth that radiated off her, the kindness that was evident in her eyes. He knew she’d been touched by trauma and lost everyone dear to her, at least that’s what he heard through the grapevine. How accurate that was he gave it a 70/30 chance in favour of accuracy. It was odd to find someone who had suffered much to be so quick to smile. 

“I owe you an apology,” he quietly stated as he walked beside her, while she continued her shopping. Stopping alongside her as she looked at him with confusion.

“Apology?”

“The other day at the gym, I was … hell, I’ll just say it, I was a bit of an ass. It’s been a while since I found someone as intriguing as you, and my flirting skills are somewhat rusty. My cousin clarified for me that I came off rather douchey, and that was not my intention.”

His apology warmed my heart, as I glanced down, “Truthfully, I’ve been out of the dating sphere for a long time too, and I may not have responded as kindly or thoughtfully as I wanted to either. How about we just call it a misunderstanding and move on.”

“You sure?”

“Yes.”

“You’re not gonna throw it back in my face later on?” He chuckled.

“I promise I will not throw it back in your face later on, but if you act like that again, then all bets are off, deal?”

Howzer held out his hand to shake hers, feeling her soft tiny hands in his sent a warmth coursing through his arms towards his heart and stomach. His eyes fixed on hers, taking note of every little detail, the shape of her eyebrows, the colour of her eyes, the way her eyelashes curled with her mascara. The soft slope of her nose, even the way her lips settled as she offered a warm, genuine smile. In one word, she was beautiful. 

“Deal.”

Layla felt her face heat up from the Captain’s attention, she cleared her throat pulling her hand away. 

“So what do you have left to get?”

“Well that depends.”

“On?”

“If you’ll join me for dinner.”

The air of my lungs flooded out of me at his statement, I felt my cheeks flush. My heart began to race as the words played over and over again in my head. 

“Or maybe I’m overstepping?” He finally stated, when she hadn’t responded in what felt like an eternity.

“No.” I answered softly, surprised my voice could even do soft, “No, you didn’t overstep. I was just … thrown off.”

“Didn’t mean to throw a beautiful woman such as yourself off your mark.”

I bit the inside of my cheek, trying to stop myself from smiling way too big. “I … listen, I’m sure you’re a great guy …”

“Oh.” Howzer felt a coldness run through his veins. 

“No. Not …” I rubbed my forehead, hoping I wasn’t doing the wrong thing, “I don’t know you.” I stated bluntly as I looked at him, “Like I said, I’ve been out of the dating circle for quite some time and I’m a little gun shy, so I need to get to know someone first a little before saying yes to dinner. Not just with you, with anyone. So … as flattered as I am, and I am, we’ve only met three times, and this is the longest conversation we’ve had.”

A sliver of embarrassment started to form in Howzer’s chest, that made its way to his face, as it got redder and redder. “Yeah, that …” He let out a huff of regret, nodding, “I’m sorry. I jumped the gun, of course you wouldn’t want to have dinner with a stranger, even if he was related to your sister’s husband. It’s okay. How about this, how about we just start off as friends. There’s a burger joint across the street, nothing fancy, just two friends getting to know one another. No expectations.”

“No expectations?”

“None. I mean sure you’re a total knockout in your lawyer get up,” he teased, “but at this moment, you might as well be Wrecker.”

I let out a laugh, feeling relaxed and enjoying this moment between us, “Okay. No expectations. I have to go home and change though, because I’m not eating at a greasy spoon in my nice skirt, and heels.”

“I wouldn’t hold it against you,” he slowly looked her up and down, “I might hold it against me.” He teased, “I’m kidding,” he chuckled at her reaction, she looked like she wanted to smack him. “That’s fine, I have to change too, I don’t usually go home in my uniform but there was a leak from the sprinklers, and everything in my locker got soaked so I have to throw my clothes in the washer.”

“May sure to soak them first.”

“You want me to soak my already soaked clothes?” 

“To get rid of the dirty sprinkler water. You don’t want your washer to smell of dirty water, and then have that smell stick to the rest of your clothes.”

“Ah.”

“Also adding a little white vinegar, just half a cup will help clean and deodorize your clothes.”

“Thanks for the tip.” He glanced at his watch, “What do you say about meeting up at 730? Or is that too late?”

“Nah, that’s fine. 730, at Burger Warehouse.”

John closed his eyes and breathed into the depth of tele-communication.

Miss Pearly / Holiday sang John another love song, in harmony with the golden choral voice of Prudence and the Eternal Harp of Persie.

The singing and music, Harp and Flute, all voices in unison—went on and on throughout the night. It was well past midnight.

To this, came rounds of treats—fine wine, jokes and laughter with dancing to jazz music, to celebrate Pursue’s return—All of them: John, Holiday, Persie, Prudence, Pearly and Trusting.

The following morning, a Sunday—John and Holiday were still in bed.

Their toddler daughter came and shook John’s shoulder.

“Daddy, wake up—there’s a policeman outside the front door, knocking.”

John dragged his lazy feet down the stairs, staggering toward the door.

“Oh! It’s you, Inspector Truman.”

“True. True.”

“It’s not even eight yet. You wake me up on an early Sunday morning?”

“True. True.”

“What’s so urgent?”

“Not true. Not urgency. Emergency!”

“Emergency?” John blinked.

“True. True. A complaint—against you and your wife.”

“My wife?”

“Not true. You too.”

“What complaint?”

“Loud noises—singing, laughing, like a large crowd. Was there a party?”

“There was… celebrating. A little wine. That’s not illegal, is it?”

“Maybe not. But I must confirm with your Helper and Nanny.”

“They don’t work Sundays. Nobody works Sundays. Only you do. True? Very true.”

“Darling, what’s the matter?”

Holiday appeared at the stairs.

“O Holiday. Come down here—you’re just in time.”

“For what, Darling?” She was st the door with them.

“For telling Inspector Truman here, the truth. About the music, the laughing, the—”

The Inspector cut in. “Just the truth, ma’am. The true truth!”

Holiday smiled sweetly.

“Inspector Truman—do you know what the true truth is?”

“Of course! My name says it all—Truman!”

“Then tell me, Inspector Truman … what did you tell your wife last night? Was that the true truth?”

Inspector Truman’s face froze.

“Huh? How—how do you know that?”

Holiday just winked, and said,

“A sweet Pearly birdie told me.”

And in the soft morning light, truth danced once again in laughter.

2024 Retrospective: Album of the Year

Like last year, this is going to be a ranking from best to worst. Though I am excluding single albums as it doesn’t feel fair to compare a mini or full album to a 2-song single. I still want to write about them, but I’m going to put them at the very end. Beware, this is going to be a long one.

PITTA – New Normal Life (7,3/10)

Hyungho really has a voice that never gets boring to me and this album really showcases that the best. His range is absolutely insane. Aside from one song, all of the tracks on this album made it onto my playlist. It’s just really that good. It also very much helps, that it reminds me of OO-LI and Colorful Trauma, the last winners of this ranking. I guess I just have a type. Packaging-wise, there isn’t much going on. The album is shockingly thin compared to ID: PITTA and BE FREE and there aren’t really any inclusions. I accidentally managed to break it though, because I tried to get the CD out on the wrong side. I’d say that’s 99,5% my fault.

Apollon 8/10 – Haunting and beautiful. I imagine this is what you hear at the pearly gates.

Don’t Be Quiet 7/10 – Makes me want to shout.

G.T.H.O 8/10 – Should have played this when my co-worker was fired. Or when my boss quit.

Newness 7/10 – Just badass, really.

Better 8/10 – Makes me want to lie down in a puddle and cry. Feels like an answer to Drowning (by WOODZ).

This Song 6/10 – His voice is beautiful, but the song is just fine.

PURPLE KISS – Headway (7,2/10)

This album kind off came out of nowhere.  They started teasing for it barely a week before the comeback and we got MV teasers before we even got the highlight medley. By all intents and purposes, this should be a mess. But it might be one of PURPLE KISS’ strongest mini albums to date. After the release of BXX anything would be though (more on that later). The packaging does reflect the mess though. It’s a sleeve, which is usually not terrible, but it’s loose and I don’t understand why they would print the cover sideways. RBW did this with Gravity (by ONEWE) as well and it’s just not a good design choice.

Intro: Concrete Jungle 7/10 – My second favourite Intro by PURPLE KISS, probably.

ON MY BIKE 8/10 – Beginning reminds me a little of Wicked Love but in a good way. The Outro/Final Chorus is also one of the coolest of the year.

Sweet Nightmare 7/10 – There could be a little more going on with the lyrics, but it’s catchy, so I’m willing to overlook that.

Encore 8/10 – New favourite song from them, tbh.

Light the Way 6/10 – Hopeful ballads are really underrated.

Ten – TEN (7,2/10)

(I thought the album was called Nightwalker…) Really, it’s just a solid solo debut album. It’s what he deserves, honestly. I don’t necessarily understand why all of the songs are in English, but they all slap, so I don’t care really. The packaging does work, but it also feels a little cheap, which seems to be the standard for SM most of the time. I don’t know, I just think it deserved something cooler.

Nightwalker 8/10 – Showstopping. I couldn’t have imagined a better debut song for Ten myself.

Water 6/10 – I imagine a lot of fans feel thirsty after hearing this song (not me though, sorry).

Dangerous 9/10 – One of the best songs of the year. Genuinely as suave as it’s trying to be.

On Ten 6/10 – I can appreciate what this song is trying to do, but it doesn’t work for me.

Shadow 7/10 – Strengthens my thesis that songs called Shadow can do no wrong.

Lie With You 7/10 – Sounds like a Harry Styles or Ed Sheran song (affectionate).

Kenshi Yonezu – LOST CORNER (7,1/10)

It has really been a while since Kenshi Yonezus last album. Stray Sheep came out in 2020, and he released a bunch of singles since, which were all really fantastic and definitely boost the score of the album up. The songs from the album itself are also good though. The cover art of the album looks really cool. Apparently, he made it himself, which I’m willing to believe since he has made past cover artwork. It really helps with the charm of the album.

RED OUT 9/10 – One of the most complete sounding songs of the year, despite being under 3 minutes.

KICK BACK 9/10 – One of his best songs, probably. Will always be a banger.

MARGHERITA 8/10 – Might be my favourite collab of him. Their voices sound really nice together.

POP SONG 8/10 – Just funky goodness. Might be the best console ad ever.

Shinigami 10/10 – My favourite song of him tbh. It’s just so well written.

Mainichi 7/10 – Beginning is kind of weird, but the rest of the song is good, so it doesn’t matter.

LADY 6/10 – One of his most nothing songs, honestly.

Yumeutsutsu 5/10 – He has much better ballads to listen to instead of this one.

Sayonara, Mata Itsuka! 8/10 – A positive break up song? Not unheard of, but rarely done this funky.

Tomaremiyo 7/10 – Just fun.

LENS FLARE 6/10 – His voice in this song sounds amazing, but it could be a little more.

Tsuki wo Miteita – Moongazing 8/10 – Cinematic and grand.

M87 7/10 – A really solid ballad, honestly.

Pale Blue 6/10 – Was beaten out as a single by its B-Side and is also sinking here.

Garakuta 7/10 – I’m just saying, if I were fighting with my partner and some random dude started singing dramatically behind us, I would punch him.

YELLOW GHOST 6/10 – The vocals sound a little weird on this song.

POST HUMAN 6/10 – Kind of dull.

Chikyugi 6/10 – I feel like this song is not as emotional as it could be.

LOST CORNER 7/10 – Encapsulates the vibes of the album really well, as its namesake.

OHAYO 6/10 – This might be one of his most unique songs, but I don’t know if that is a positive thing.

Jaejoong – Flower Garden (7/10)

Not only does this album serve as a celebration of his past 20 years of music, but also as a really good stand-alone release. It has vibes of his older emo-rock influences all over it, just more positive. His voice is still really good. He also managed to get a collaboration with MIYAVI on it, which means that he now has collaborated with 3 of the 4 “Last Rockstars” (Yoshiki, we’re waiting). It shouldn’t have come as a surprise to me, but it still did. This album really is massive. It’s not the biggest album I own, but it does really fill up the shelf. It also looks really pretty. The design on the cover is supposed to be reminiscent of his back tattoo and I think that’s really cool. Personally, I think the black version looks a little cooler than the white version, but I’m not complaining about what I got. The puzzle is also a really cool idea for an album inclusion, though maybe it shouldn’t come already done. It’s also very satisfying to open and close.

Good News 8/10 – I feel like this song deserves to have a cool performance attached to it. It also would have been funny if he performed this on Inkigayo.

Glorious Day 7/10 – It is glorious indeed.

Dream Party 7/10 – Jamming out to this, but like… softly. Snoopy happy dancing.

The Light 6/10 – The voice editing sounds a little weird, but it’s still a really cool collab.

To The Boy 7/10 – It makes me smile, but also sad at the same time.

Tru Love Tru Lies 7/10 – I can see why he wanted to make this a vocal challenge for other idols. I don’t think many would have managed to succeed though.

Summer J 6/10 – It feels kind of weird to get a summer anthem from Jaejoong, but I’m not complaining.

Devotion 6/10 – Writing wise it’s fine, but Jaejoongs vocals carry it hard.

Dopamine 7/10 – Jaejoong showing everyone how it’s done. Also, still wild to me that this collab exists in the first place.

Don’t 7/10 – Hilarious, yet also terrifying when you read the lyrics. The one time random noises make sense in a melody.

Concrete Heart 9/10 – I don’t think I ever heard a Jaejoong ballad that I didn’t like. Showstopping, honestly.

Rain Shower 6/10 – Makes me want to dance in the rain.

I AM U 8/10 – As far as songs written for fans go, I think this is the best one. Also watching him perform this on Inkigayo made me cry.

201208 – It’s not really a song, so I don’t think I can rate it, and I also have been unable to find a translation of it. If anyone has one, please let me know.

ONF – Beautiful Shadow (6,8/10)

I have to say, this is not what I expected from them after their military enlistment, but it’s really good. All of the songs on this album are just really solid and catchy. The packaging is fairly solid. It’s one of the few times where a book sleeve is not too tight and thus pulling on the edges of the cover. However, the CD is just shoved into an envelope that isn’t even attached, which happens to often really. I feel like I mention this being a problem with albums every year.

Bye My Monster 8/10 – Love to see theatrical ONF. It’s really just the right amount of dramatic for them.

Aphrodite 7/10 – Feels more like a 2nd Gen song. Very campy.

Breath, Haze & Shadow 6/10 – Beautiful Vocals, but I wish there was more to it.

Chemical Type 6/10 – I still don’t understand how chemistry is romantic but go off guys!

Slave to the Rhythm 7/10 – Not the best song on the album, but the one I have the most fun with.

ENHYPEN – MEMORABILIA (6,7/10)

I’d like to state that I bought this album purely because it looked cool. I hadn’t listened to it previously and didn’t even know it came out. But I really enjoyed it. Fatal Trouble is  probably their best song to date and also the best song to come out of HYBE this year. I know why they didn’t promote it, but that doesn't mean I understand it. The metal box does look really cool. I don’t really know how to put in on my shelf, but it would look fancy anywhere, I think. I put it with the rest of my albums, which looks a bit funny, but that’s fine with me (for now). The inclusions with the album are also cool, but I think someone who actually read the webtoon might get something more out of them than me.

One in A Billion 6/10 -  I feel like the chorus needed a few more rewrites.

CRIMINAL LOVE 7/10 – One of the best songs to come out of HYBE last year (2023).

Fatal Trouble 8/10 – The vocals could be a little heavier, but that doesn't dim my enjoyment of the song at all.

Teeth 7/10 – I feel like it shouldn’t work, but it does.

Lucifer 6/10 – The mixing sounds a little weird, but it’s still a jam.

Scream 6/10 – Remind me to never get into a car driven by one of them.

F.T. Island – Serious (6,7/10)

It’s been a while since we last heard of F.T. Island and this album really makes it seem like they never left. I completely forgot though how good Hongkis voice sounds. He really has a very theatrical voice and it mixes well with the type of music on this album. They should do dramatic rock, really. The folder design of the album is pretty solid. The only weird thing I can find about it, is that the album name is only printed on the open side of it. I think it would look much cooler if it were on the spine.

Letter to Myself 6/10 – Feels oddly comforting.

BURN IT 7/10 – Sounds like it should be on the soundtrack of the Devil Judge.

Serious 8/10 – Appropriately badass and theatrical for Hongkis voice.

Aqua (Korean Ver.) 7/10 – Sounds just as cool as the Original to me.

Sunrise Yellow (Korean Ver.) 6/10 – Fun, but it also feels like it could be much more.

T.I.V (Tears in Vain) 7/10 – I love the new genre emerging in K-Rock right now that’s encouraging someone or yourself not to cry, as opposed to feeling sad for yourself.

Inferno 8/10 – If I had a nickel for every time a song used a “gottasadae” chant and made it badass as fuck, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

My Birthday (Korean Ver.) 6/10 – Sounds like he is singing without really opening his mouth, if that makes sense.

Journey 6/10 – Uplifting and depressing at the same time.

Reason 6/10 – Even on multiple listens of the song, I don’t quite know what to think off it.

Lee Seung Yoon – Pre-Release Album [YEOK SEONG] (6,6/10)

I didn’t realise this was a pre-release when I bought it. It’s objectively a hilarious thing to do though. It’s still a full album really. It just got a repackage. I don’t own the full album though. I listened to it and liked it, but all of my favourite tracks are already on this one, so I didn’t feel the need to buy it. The packaging is pretty simple, using a jewel case and a book with a sleeve around it. It fits well and doesn’t just slip off.

Waterfall 7/10 – I want to listen to this song while standing in the pouring rain.

POKZOOK TIME 8/10 – Has a really cool beat and guitar riff.

Strings as a Sword 7/10 – I don’t think you should bring strings to a swordfight, but he makes it sounds badass.

SOLD OUT 6/10 – Sounds cool but has little substance.

Return Match 6/10 – Appropriately cool.

28k! LOVE 8/10 – Sounds really hopeful and is just perfect to vibe along to.

Blown to Me 6/10 – Shelter of Dreams in less depressing.

Canon 5/10 – Kind of a nothingburger.

P1Harmony – SAD SONG (6,6/10)

They aren’t the only group I bought two albums of, but they are the only group where I enjoyed both releases. SAD SONG (the song) barely missed out on being in my top 10, actually. This whole mini album is just a vibe. Packaging-wise, it’s fine. It’s just a slim book. It does its job fine. The only thing I could complain about is that I own the A version, which means I get to look at them in knight costumes. It’s not that I dislike that, I just now wish that they would do a medieval inspired comeback.

SAD SONG 8/10 – Really just a full-on vibe. The most fun I had with a song this year.

It’s Alright 6/10 – The title is really the program.

Last Call 6/10 – Sounds more like they are singing “Let’s go” instead.

Welcome To 7/10 – Just a banger, really.

All You 6/10 – Sounds oddly like a Christmas song.

WASP 6/10 – They are good rappers, it just doesn’t sting.

SAD SONG (English Version) 7/10 – Still a banger, but I’m going to question its existence regardless.

E’LAST – Everlasting (6,5/10)

The only reason I bought this album was because I found it in the store and just couldn’t resist. And owning it, I noticed that the songs on this album have a different producer. Up until Thrill, all of their songs credited one guy and this album doesn’t. I don’t really know why this is. Perhaps he left or was fired after the scandal, who knows. And I’ll also be the first to say it: Their new producer either doesn’t know what to do with them or isn’t very good. There definitely are good songs on the album, but others are not so good. I don’t really have any notes about the packaging though. It caves inwards a little, which is weird, but it actually protects the CD quite well, which is rare nowadays.

Intro: Dystopia 8/10 – Their instrumental intros always slap, and this one is no exception.

Gasoline 6/10 – They make this song work, even though it absolutely shouldn’t. It’s very messy, though.

I 6/10 – Would be better without the post-chorus.

Addiction 6/10 – It’s Desire, but worse.

Fade Out 7/10 – Should have been the title track, really. A fun pop song.

Dark Light 8/10 – It wouldn’t have made a good title track, but it also feels too good to be relegated to a B-Side.

Candy Shop 6/10 – The kind of music you listen to while relaxing in a hot bath.

Rewind 6/10 – Yes, please let us rewind the clock back to 2022.

You 6/10 – A boring ballad.

Forever and One 6/10 – This is a cute ballad, but it could have been more.

P1Harmony – Killin’ It (6,4/10)

I liked some of their songs before, but this release was really what got me interested and also invested in the group. I honestly think that out of all the 4th Gen. groups known for doing noise music, they are doing it best. They make music sounds so fun and I really like that. This album is just fun to listen to. The packaging also mostly reflects that. I like the cartoony art style of the cover, and it does feel very secure, despite being made of cardboard. The misspelled English on the back is kind of funny though, when you remember that Keeho is Canadian, and no one noticed.

Killin’ It 7/10 – The type of fun noise music I like. Makes me want to see them collaborate with Stray Kids in some way.

Late Night Calls 7/10 – The type of music you listen to while on a long drive through the rain.

Everybody Clap 6/10 - *thunderous applause*

Love Story 6/10 – Solid ballad but nothing more.

Countdown to Love 6/10 – I like the rap parts, but the rest is a bit generic.

Emergency 7/10 – Is this what it sounds like when they have to drive one of their members to the hospital?

2Nite 6/10 – The chorus is really cool. The rest is… fine.

Let Me Love You 6/10 – I don’t think they’ll take no for an answer…

Street Star 7/10 – Sounds like a soundtrack for a racing game.

I See U 6/10 – Aggressively Average.

PURPLE KISS – BXX (6,2/10)

I think this mini album might be their most nothing and boring release to date. It just… sounds a little off. The vibes aren’t completely there. Maybe it’s just that this type of concept is so overdone and while they make it work, they deserve something better. RBW really needs to figure out what to do with them. The packaging is fine. The lid is not to tight or loose. The only thing, I could complain about is that the CD maybe shouldn’t be placed on top, if it’s barely protected. It should be in the folder, not on the outside of it. But I do have to appreciate that all of their releases are roughly the same size and format, just with different packaging that ranges from good to really bad.

Intro: Crush 6/10 – made me realise that I have a pet peeve about ending a song in the middle of a line. It makes the song sound incomplete, which would be fine for an intro, if it flows into the next track well. It doesn’t.

BBB 7/10 – It’s carried by their vocals, really. Also, please look up the pronunciation of caviar. It drives me insane that there are two different pronunciations of it.

Bitter Sweet 6/10 – Could be a little more cohesive, but the vocals save it.

Toy Boy 6/10 – Easy solution for your dilemma, girls: get off tinder!

Heart Attack 6/10 – Sounds a bit like a Taeyeon song.

Voyager 6/10 – This is what I imagine a dream to sound like.

And that’s all for full and mini albums. Now onto the three singles that would destroy this ranking on principle.

KISS OF LIFE – Midas Touch

It’s just really good. I’d say this comeback is the one that made me a fan, though their other releases this year weren’t as good. I gonna have to reduce points because the music video has nothing to do with Midas though. It’s not that hard to use gold instead of stone guys, it’s just a different effect. The packaging is fine. I’m not the biggest fan of magazines, but this one at least has games in it. I’m never going to play them, but they are a nice touch.

Midas Touch 8/10 – Just a solidly produced and performed pop anthem.

Nothing 7/10 – Makes me want to see them collaborate with PURPLE KISS.

RESCENE – Re:Scene

As far as debuts go, I think this one was really good. The girls are clearly talented, and their label really knows how to make them stand out from the crowd. It really seems like there was some thought put into this debut, and I like that. I own the PLVE version of the album though and I think it’s broken. I don’t know. I scanned the code with the app and downloaded it, but my WLAN died for a second and now I have an album I can look at but not listen to. I don’t know if that is what’s supposed to happen, mostly because I can’t find anything about PLVE online that was written in English. If it’s supposed to be like that, why create an album version you can’t listen to? And if it’s not, how do I fix it? Well, whatever. I still have the small standee, that was in it, on my shelf and the photocards are cool.

YoYo 8/10 – Reminiscent of 1st Gen music to me.

UhUh 7/10 – A really great debut. Reminds me of (G)I-DLE.

ATEEZ – Not Okay

It’s kind of sad to me, that this is my favourite ATEEZ release of the year, but their Golden Hour series just wasn’t it for me. This is pretty good though. To be fair, I only bought this single, because I found it at the store, but I do listen to it. Their Japanese could be a little better, I guess. They fall into a trap, that many idols fall into, when singing, where it does sound stiff and clearly learnt. It’s not too distracting from their vocals though. The packaging for this album isn’t fancy. It’s just a jewel case really. Fancy packaging hasn’t caught on in Japan quite yet, it seems.

NOT OKAY 7/10 – Their tiny bit awkward Japanese doesn’t dim my enjoyment of this song too much.

Days 6/10 – Sounds like it should be the Ending of a sports anime.

As it lurches nearer to the Saint at the Gates, one might even think one hears noises coming from its belly, which is, we must stress again, just not possible, since angels are His Will given form. Their bellies, which do not exist, can, therefore, not rumble, or make any other noises. Especially not noises like this.

Helneth watched Azaerixia heave a great sigh, draped over her pet hellhound and running her hands through his fur.

"It's not the saaaaaaaame" She whined, burying her face in his coat.

She had been moping ever since she found out she wasn't getting her puppies, and even inviting her over to play with Cujo didn't seem to help.

"Maybe you could try for a cat?" Helneth offered.

"……….Maybe."

"I'm sure if you just asked around there's plenty of girls who wanna be your dog." Suggested Aezorim.

Azaerixia grumbled into Cujo's fur.

"But I want an actual dog………."

"We know, sweetie."

"Why does Heaven get to keep them all it's bullshiiiiiiiit…………………."

"How about uh….. If someone summons you and has a dog, make a contract that says they have to let you play with it whenever you want?"

Azaerixia sat up straight and pointed at Helneth.

"Ooh. Ooh, that's- That's enforceable? I can do that?" She asked.

Helneth shrugged. "I think so? We do open summoning circles for girlfriend contracts already, but it might be a hard sell."

Azaerixia opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off by the ringing of her cellphone.

"Hello?" She said, picking up. "Grezayla? What's-? Oh you got a new summoner? That's great! …Uh-huh. Uh-huh."

"Guys did nobody teach her how to make a dick?" She whispered, covering the phone with her hand.

"They make girls without dicks?" Helneth said, eyes wide in mock surprise.

"Yeah she says she just has some weird hole down there." Azaerixia said, sticking her tongue out.

"That's fucked up. What are we doing to our queens?"

"I thought you two were part of the group training her?" Aezorim asked, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, when she was still a mortal! I thought Mistress would teach her transformation stuff after!"

She uncovered the phone.

"Yeah uh, just, visualize? It? I guess?" She said, shrugging. "What do you mean you can't visualize it? You've seen some. Not from that angle? Just, just rotate it. In your mind."

She covered the phone again.

"Guys she's floundering out there we fucked up so bad."

"Aw man."

"What- Just go help her! Go make one for her!" Aezorim said.

"No! This is only like, her third summon! We can't undermine her!"

"What if they summon us instead of her next time!?"

"It'd be crushing!"

"Oh my fucking god."

"Hang on." Azaerixia said, listening. "You think you got it? Great! Okay have fun babe!!!"

She hung up and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Okay that one's on us a little bit. Remind me to go through some transformation exercises with her when she gets back."

Helneth and Aezorim nodded, and Azaerixia's phone started ringing again.

"Hello? Grezayla? Yeah, I can- What's a mating press? Okay Mistress has definitely done that to you. You don't know the names?" She started to pace around the room. "Okay, it's the one where-"

"Man we did not account for how much training a nun would need." Helneth whispered.

"You should throw her another orgy."

pairing : tom x fem! reader

summary : tom finds himself head over heels after seeing you with your new piercings, except the only way he found out was through an interview.

author's note : this isn't proofread cause I'm just too lazy also I WANT SNAKE BITE PIERCINGS SOOOOO BAD.

"Everyone give it up for Tokio Hotel!" The interviewer clapped as the crowd cheered and clapped as the band smiled and waved. Tokio Hotel was currently at New York, Usa for a tour and got invited to do an interview for a really popular tv show. Unfortunately you got stuck back in LA for your own tour, as you were also in a band.

The cheering died down and the interviewer let the band mates introduce themselves before going to ask the questions that were submitted by their fans.

"Bill do you have a girlfriend?"

Bill laughed with a slight blush on his cheeks and shook his head as a way of saying ‘no’

"Oh no I want to find the right girl to spend the rest of my life with" Bill's answer made the other bandmates nod in agreement, but of course Tom loved teasing his little twin brother.

"Yes Bill is single so ladies hit him up" Tom pointed to the crowd and made a phone sign with his free hand. This made the crowd cheer and laugh out loud while Bill was there with a hand covering his mouth, holding in his own laugh.

The interviewer laughed and flipped his flash cards for the next question. "This question is for Tom." The interviewer announced and the crowed ooed in intussusception. Tom prepared himself for whatever question would be shot at him.

"You're in an official relationship with Y/N L/N, aka the lead singer from [band-name] correct?"

Tom's band members looked at him with smug looks on their faces, they knew you were Tom's weak spot. Maybe this was karma for teasing Bill.

Tom held his hands together and smiled. "Yes, she's been my girl for 2 years now. Our anniversary is soon actually."

The crowd clapped as a congratulations for Tokio Hotel's guitarist. Tom was known to be a playboy and they were happy that he'd found a girl to stay with instead of in Tom's own words before he met you. ”Love for one night”

The interviewer also clapped. "Congratulations you both deserve eachother."

Tom thanked the interviewer thinking his turn was over but to his surprised the interviewer announced some news he had not known about.

"So I think the audience knows this by now but Y/N and her new piercings have been trending all over social media. How do you feel about her new appearance?"

Tom raised an eyebrow. He hadn't talked to you for atleast a couple hours at most, how'd he not know about this?

"Oh? I didn't know about that." Tom and the others nodded, they had no idea about this.

"This happened just a few hours ago. Infact here's a clip from Y/N's live revealing the piercings."

The interviewer pointed towards the big tv that pointed straight towards the crowd as a video started playing.

You were on the screen with only the upper half of your face showing. Tom watched with a smile, waiting for you to talk.

"Guys I did something." You backed up from the camera showing your whole face, revealing the two silver rings on your glossy lips. You smiled showing your pearly white teeth.

Tom's eyes widened. You looked even more stunning with the new snake bite.

Your eyes scanned the comments before replying to one.

"When did you get this? Oh I got this just this morning, Tom doesn't even know about it I wanted to surprise him." You laughed at the camera before the video clip ended leaving Tom's lovestruck face stuck in the tv.

The audience awed at the sight before Tom turned his head. Like always Tom's mouth got the best of him as he spoke out loud before thinking about it.

"Damn she's hot."

Oo. Possibly more teeth to collect. She likes that idea. Even so, she still stands there looking so utterly passive as though completely disinterested in anything and everything.

But after a few moments of saying nothing in reply while idly standing with her hands delving deeper into her pockets, she finally shows signs of not being a statue and moves to the rather pathetically acting fallen man.

"I ain' 'ere t'impose on this business." She says clear enough for both to hear, ensuring Vicious knows she won't do shit to his prey. Respect for another's dinner and all that. Crouching with her hands still in her pockets, she tilts her head as far as it'll go, almost trying to go upside down to get a look at those teeth of the 'magikarp' up close. "But I ain' gonna pass up an opportunity like tha', y'know? Gotta see the assets..."

A moment passes of visually inspecting the man's teeth. Then she stands up again.

"I fuckin' hope he fails, t'be fair. Thems some nice pearlies, yea? Bet his girl's got some nice'uns too. Stiiillll..."

A glance around and she's as passive as before, though now standing awkwardly close to the pair.

"If y'ever want some fine dentistry, do hit me up, dude. M'services're free."

At her comment of them getting him, his heel dug down on the man's spine as he shot the other a grin, not bothering to pay attention to the man whimpering under his foot.

"Not an issue for me and small fry like him." He stated with a shrug, "Besides, if he can throw my weight off his back, get up, and swing at me, then he's earn that reward."

At her questions, he just offered a grin before looking down at the man. This girl was interesting, to say the least. Most tend to avoid the area if he was "fighting." Not that really counted as a fight. The man was down and crying after punch to the face. She might be useful to him.

Many, many centuries ago, even before Darkstalker’s time, a program was set in place by the current queen during that time where royal dragons could only breed with what the queen considered “pure-blood”, which essentially boiled down to meaning only other royal dragons.

The program resulted in many strange mutations, the most notable one being warmer colors of scales in the royal family, compared to commoners deep blue and emerald green scales that matched the sea around them, coming in colors that resembled Skywings more than Seawings such as ruby red and salmon pink.

The program was upheld for a several generations, before royal scientists discovered the harmful effects of such a small gene pool it was creating, though it still took until the next queen was crowned for her to remove the rule set in place and allowing the royal family to breed with other, non-royal dragons.

Slowly, the more deforming genes were bred out, but the scale color gene stayed recessive, sometimes even being sought after for its unique appearance, resulting in dragons like Queen Pearl’s pale pink scales, Queen Coral’s hibiscus-red gleam, and Anemone’s rosy accents.

Royals breeding with commoners has also resulted in more colors in between the cherry reds and sapphire blues, such as mossy greens, bright yellows, rich purples as seen in Tortoise and Indigo, and, rarely, dull greys as seen in Shark.

Breeding between royals and commoners can also result in deformed wing patterns, instead of the usual swirling patterns and talon-print patches, it can come in circles, stripes, or rarely, a simple line along the edge of the membrane.

Seawings who are found with these patterns are usually sent to have them tattooed over, to avoid being confused with actual members of the royal bloodline, though dragons born outside of the kingdom usually are free to keep them as they are usually not full members, or simply hybrids.

The wing patterns can still vary wildly, even in the royal bloodline, ranging from simple sprouting loops to Moray’s talon-print patterning, to full displays of sweeping arches and splattered speckles that resemble a dragonets talon-paintings strewn across their wings.

Wings patterns start out very small as a dragonet, starting out as small, tightly curled buds like fern fiddleheads, slowly unfurling as they grow, fully opening up once they’re 7-9 years old, depending on how fast they grow, and dragons who are full-blooded royal, such as the queen and her heirs, can rarely have swirled markings spread all over their body as they grow older.

This phenomenon can happen in non-royals, too, shoulder and face markings spreading to become blobby, yet unique glowing scales, but royal dragons are special, as their scales can trail into looping and sweeping markings that resemble starlight vines crawling across their body.

Some queens tattoo over the longest curls, but many like to flaunt their glowing vines, culture believing the long stripes resemble the beauty and complexity of royalty, only setting them higher up on the podium of importance due to the rarity of this mutation.

There is even a small, volunteer-run museum of sorts that records the queens who carried the most beauty with them, started by an extremely loyal Seawing with a fixation for their queen, it lists off many royal dragons with the most unique scales, ranging from a princess who expressed scales that resembles peaches, to a queen whose scales glowed like a comet.
