some fun facts about the OP versions of my OCs that’ll eventually make it into their bios:

-Izzy, instead of having a compound like she does in most other AUs, is a traveling merchant! she has a ship(blueprints made by her, constructed in Water 7) and travels the world, selling and trading to different people on different islands in different seas. she’s originally from the South Blue, was sold as a slave for money by her parents, and after she was liberated she returned home to kill them before leaving to travel the world. she’s also still a cyborg, and as well, she has The Voice Of All Things, and used those powers to befriend a Sea Beast she now keeps as a pet. She also sells to pirates, but she tries to do so discreetly, so as to not anger the World Government and get the Marines after her. she does have several contingency plans if a Marine ship or officer happens to see her selling to pirates, and they all end in the death of said Marines. She’s good friends with many crews of the Worst Generation, including the Straw Hat pirates(she’s especially good friends with Franky, with them both being cyborgs), the Kid pirates, and the On Air pirates(until Scratchmen Apoo’s betrayal of the Kid Pirates and the Hawkins Pirates). She and Massacre Soldier Killer have a physical relationship, and after the Kid Pirates are attacked by Kaido and the Beast Pirates, she travels to Wano(with the help of Sai) to help free them, and fights the Beast Pirates in the attack on Onigashima island by Luffy and The Alliance.

-The Gourmets, who are a mercenary group in most of my AUs, are a pirate crew in One Piece. The original three of the crew are Cremini(the captain and cook), her adoptive brother Sage(a musician), and their friend Burrata(a carpenter and the shipwright), and they became inspired to become pirates after the Straw Hats liberated their home country of Alabasta. on their way to the New World, they picked up Mille(a trans girl who found her way to Kamabakka Kingdom who became their navigator), Tira(a shipwrecked young nonbinary teen who’s their lookout), and the twins Agave and Stevie(i havent fully fleshed out their backstory yet but Agave is the ship doctor and Stevie is one of the main fighters of the group). they eventually ally themselves with the Big Mom pirates, but after the events of Whole Cake Island, they follow Jinbei’s lead and desert, instead joining the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Cremini and Sanji have a romance arc as well!

-The Nova siblings are all a part of the Revolutionary Army. Calli and Coco, instead of being separated by someone adopting Coco like in other AUs, were separated on Sabaody Archipelago by a World Noble taking Coco as a slave. Sascha, who was already a Revolutionary at the time, witnessed the event, and took Calli under his wing and protected her after Coco was taken. Coco met Izzy while enslaved in the holy land of Mariejois, and both were freed when Fisher Tiger liberated the land. it took a few years for Coco to reunite with Calli, but when she did, she joined the Revolutionary Army, mostly to help protect her sister. Coco’s dream is to restore their ancestral homeland, an island in the North Blue called Andromede that was razed by Germa 66 before the girls were born. She ends up falling for White Hunter Smoker, the Marine, after a series of unusual circumstances that bring the two together, though they dislike each other at first, and have many disagreements over politics.

-Calli has a Devil Fruit! the Nuru Nuru no Mi, a Paramecia type fruit that gives her the power of nullification. she can temporarily nullify things like traps, defenses, and even other Devil Fruits(although she can only do that for about two minutes at a time, and it takes a lot of energy out of her). she mostly uses it to prank people, especially poor Inazuma and Ivankov(and later Sabo when he gets Ace’s devil fruit). She dreams of being a historian and wants to make sure that the events of this era don’t disappear like the Void Century did. because of this, she is very close to Nico Robin during and after her stay with the Revolutionaries during the timeskip. Robin even began teaching her how to read poneglyphs, though this is a secret that only the two of them know. Not even Coco is aware.

-Sascha is more or less exactly the same as he is within most AUs: his personality is unchanged, and he has little to no real memory of his past. he’s been with the Revolutionary Army since childhood, and fully believes in their dream to liberate the world from the World Nobles. The Nova Siblings in general tend to work most on breaking up slave trades, so they travel around in their own ship, under the guise of being a traveling music group(Calli plays guitar, Sascha does percussion, and Coco sings and dances), and investigate areas where lots of people tend to go missing. They’ve met the Straw Hats all together one time, between Thriller Bark and Sabaody, while the siblings were investigating an island where a trafficker had set up base.

-Sai is a member of the Third Eye tribe, and bc we still have almost no info on them, she’s still my least fleshed-out OC in OPverse. she still has her eye injury which makes her blind in her third eye, and just like in other AUs, that has helped her refine her powers. she has incredibly powerful Kenbunshoku Haki that rivals Katakuri’s, and uses this to help improve the world around her. she is the advisor to Monkey D. Dragon, head of the Revolutionary Army, and like in other AUs, she tends to largely work from the shadows to achieve her goals. Originally, she left her tribe to join the Marines in an attempt to make the world a better place, where she met her lover, Rocinante. Bc of her foresight, she knew he would die from the mission he took to stop Doflamingo, and she knew she couldn’t talk him out of it. After he went undercover, she deserted the Marines, and began honing her own intuition, with it leading her to helping Dragon and the Revolutionary Army. After Luffy came onto the scene as an established pirate, she discovered what his powers actually were, and threw her lot in to help support him wherever she could, believing he would bring liberation to the world. she is aware of many things that other people are not aware of, including the true nature of the Void Century, the One Piece itself, and the existence of Im. she tends to keep what she knows close to her chest though, in order to not endanger others. She also got to connect with Law and reconnect with Sengoku after the events of Dressrosa, as someone who was also important to Corazon.

"thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!

do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

The midjourney stuff just reminds of when we were trying to find a new platform to host the ao3 donation form, and companies kept trying to tell me about all their "ai" features that would track donor engagement, and figure out the optimal pattern to email individual donors asking for follow up donations, and all the ways they suggest we manipulate people into staying on our websites. It was a great way to filter out who either wasn't listening to us when we described our ethics and donor base, or just didn't believe us.

Now granted ao3 is a unique case based on a) the amount of page views we get in any given time period and b) the fact that most donors absolutely do Not want to be identified as such anywhere, (the default "list of recent donors" module got nuked Immediately) but it surprised me some that the concept of "donors who value their privacy and would be furious at even the whiff of AI" is unique. Some of us really are just existing in different worlds.

And of course one major problem with this tactic is that you're assuming we'll be like "wow, you'd overcome your obviously strong principles" but like.

You haven't established you even have those principles. You've just told us that you'd collaborate with Nazis and like, yeah, that is famously something many liberals have been okay with doing.

actually that ao3 post about calculating kudos-to-hits ratios to decide if a fic is worth reading has me so pissed off. someone put real time and energy into something they are SHARING WITH YOU FOR FREE on a site where you can quite literally filter and search by anything you want and you're STILL trying to find a foolproof method to find stuff that's "good enough to read"???

YOU ARE NOT THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR EVERYTHING

you don't have to like or read everything in a given fandom or tag, but you also don't have to be a cunt about it and imply that it's not worth reading. this is the kind of shit that moves people to stop creating altogether, and to see people agreeing in the tags is so disheartening. absolutely unserious behavior.
