Dear Sirs.

SCP-682's powers are metatextual. He's unkillable because the story says he is nearly unkillable and no solution would be satisfying. His nickname is 'the very hard to destroy reptile' for rigour's sake. You don't have to be Grant Morrison to put this together.

The solution is to alter the narrative so that there is a means of killing him that is satisfying. Unfortunately, only full-on apocalypse scenarios or the use of SCP-682 as a jobber for an even worse threat would fill that criteria.

So unless you want to unleash something even more tiresome, like the Black Moon or the Scarlet King or the Yellow Submarine or whatever other color-coded doomsday monster you have on tap, you're just wasting jumpsuit filling doing anything at all.

The easy alternative is to simply stop trying to kill him.

Just focus on holding him in the most boring, routine ways possible, rendering him increasingly less interesting and thus reducing the time between stories focused on him and thus, the resulting breaches and disasters.

Or you can do what we did. If you aren't chicken.

Ours wasn't a rotted lizard. It was a sort of mummified horse the size of a 1996 Volkswagen Harlequin, and it was a she, but otherwise same deal. Regeneration. Vat of acid. Mass casualties. Violent opposition to the use of breath mints. Endemic to all life. Po-tay-to, po-tah-to.

We figured out the how it worked, and we speed-ran the whole concept, hurling that vile beast through a veritable plinko-fall of thousands of extermination tests and controlled rampages until there was literally nothing left to do with the 'More-Than-One-Way-to-Fail-to-Kill-a Horse'.

And we trust the populace enough to not lie to them for 'their own good'. Because its funny? Sure. Profitable? Absolutely (don't worry, shareholders!)! But never for 'their own good.'

So we turned those experiments into a 17 season reality television program hosted by Greg Kinnear and force-fed them to a sludge-hungry populace.

There were 'More-Than-One-Way-to-Fail-to-Kill-a Horse' calendars, coffee mugs, t-shirts, two different animated spin-offs running at the same time for some reason, four movies starring Chris Pratt as the voice of the horse, an ongoing sketch on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, 'More-Than-One-Way-to-Fail-to-Kill-a Horse' "acid bath" sour candy flavored yogurt in a tube, a series of increasingly inadequately playtested gameboy cartridges, a 27-issue limited series from Image comics, and adorable plush mummified murder-horse plushes with little suction cups on their red-felt hooves so they can stare balefully out the back of your station wagon at that ASSHOLE Kevin in his souped up Trans AM who does not understand the concept of a safe following distance, and you JUST want to run him off the road with the magno-lifters and recreate the scene from Lost Highway with Robert Loggia, but "you can't use the magno-lifters for revenge" because it's "against OSHA regulations" and "technically assault!"

And once the first shipment of 'More-Than-One-Way-to-Fail-to-Kill-a Horse' Funko Pops hit store shelves, the creature's cultural cache cratered so hard that it became a parody of itself so predictable it's "containment" is now a Universal Studios attraction with two failed executions and a containment breach each night, with double shows on Saturdays.

Now, it was a rocky ride getting there, especially for Utah (projections say you'll get those House seats back in two, maybe three, generations at most, don't you worry!) but we've proven that even if it isn't killable, you can, in fact, beat a dead horse.

i love reading bad takes sometimes. you think bruce would question his moral code if dick challenged it? all of that "dick's the one thing i did right" falls apart the second dick grayson kills without remorse. it's kind of how bruce's mind works. he cuts people off and earning his approval is a trial by fire that never ends.

yknowwww there is something... deeply uncomfortable about the way mel never speaks directly to viktor in the 'build hextech weapons' scene. she really only speaks to jayce. plenty of people have pointed this out already but like the one scene they actually share a meaningful interaction and she treats him like he's beneath her. all this after jayce has emphasized how important viktor is, that hextech is theirs, together. she unequivocally ices him out, there's no other way to interpret this scene. the way it's shot too - from viktor's perspective, looking up at her, as though to reinforce the same belief in him. like he doesn't even bother expecting respect from her - or anyone from the upper echelon of piltover. he's fully accustomed to being dehumanized by everyone around him at this point. sometimes even by jayce, despite the trust they clearly have in each other.

then of course after this scene is viktor experimenting on himself. it's pretty clear that he has internalized his own dehumanization. crazy.

okay but favourite thing I caught on the rewatch is that throwaway line when walker tells yelena at least she was forced into being a black widow as a kid and “didn’t know better”… implying that deep down the wanker knows he should have

I’m surprised that Yuu didn’t tell Azul that their telepathy/magic does have consequences. Granted I’m sure he realized that he was wrong after Yuu threw up blot just from them arguing but wasn’t that just because of the over blot group’s emotions? Not from hearing their thoughts?

Also how did Vil and everyone else react to when he heard about sending Yuu and Jade down to the lake?

It's not outright stated, but yes, Azul and the others are aware that there's more to Yuu's telepathy when they get sick in chapter 6. It's why so many of them immediately bolt to their side and try to use their own magic to sooth and heal them.

The only ones who immediately hear about Yuu and Jade getting sent to the lake are Riddle (obviously), Azul, Jamil and Malleus. Azul gets told about it in passing by Jade, who had a pleased look on his face has he retold the story (up until he mentioned Aspen and Wynfred at the end, which did give Azul some concern). Azul is a bit worried about Yuu's wellbeing, human bodies aren't made to be dropped from such tall heights, right? But he's relaxed once Yuu tells him that they're fine and just got scared for a bit.

Malleus learns about it from Yuu during their weekly check ins (maintained by Sebek of course), and is a very concerned that they almost got hurt. He's still working on not viewing his human friends as fragile as glass, but it's hard. Jamil gets informed about it right away by Riddle, as they're “in charge” of making sure that Yuu is well as they get accustomed to their magic, but he's quite frankly tired of having to take care of other people. Once he learned that they didn't actually get hurt and it was more of a spook, it kinda gets tossed to the back of his head. In his opinion, Yuu has survived a year without magic in this school fair enough, he has no reason to coddle them.

The other's don't hear about it until their meeting, when it gets mentioned off-screen (off page?) by Riddle when recounting what's been happening. Leona thinks it's hilarious, of course the herbivore would still get into trouble, even with a bunch of people looking after them. Idia also thinks it's pretty funny, though he doesn't have many thoughts outside of that. Vil is one most concerned out of the three of them, he's well aware how stress can build up and explode dramatically. Even if they turned out fine, who knows how they actually felt about the entire situation. He's the most clocked in (along with Leona, though he's not as concerned with knowing) that something else must have happened besides Yuu being dropped into the lake with Jade. He's an actor, after all, he can tell when someone is leaving details out of a story. And Riddle is definitely leaving something out...

Me after chapter 201 (What took you)

So, about Ando. (And his contradictions) huh.

We start of with the most important thing, Sakamoto telling Ikari that she's a creep. (Thank you Taro, she really is. ) Before Shin picks up Andos weapon to threaten him.

It's clear that the stress of the whole situation is just getting to much to bottle up finally. He sneaked on the cruise to find him, in hope to reconcile with him. He's been on his own for FOUR YEARS, looking for information about Ando. Mind you, since he was only 9. He's barely even a teenager with 13 right here. He probably slept on the streets, and who knows what he had to deal with. He's skinny and probably doesn't get to eat regularly. Same for his eyebags, he probably can't find a safe spot often enough. (Not to forget the insane sensory overload he must feel compared to the underground lab. And I don't just mean his ESP with that.)

He's angry. His hopes for connection got crushed with his own father trying to kill him (multiple times). He's scared because at this moment he's probably convinced he will forever be alone. He's tired and probably hungry. He's overwhelmed so he points the gun at Ando.

Now Taro is trying to stop him, but mostly because he still wants to avoid the bomb going off. (Or so it seems at least) The fact that Ando has to die is less of a question for Taro, he's still his target. It's just a question of when and by who I think. He, already, doesn't want Shin to kill someone in anger. And although we can't see his thoughts here, he probably also doesn't want Shin to be the one to kill Ando specifically.

Now. Important is also that Shin only actually shot because Ikari scared him.

He says himself, he didn't mean to. He really just wanted to force an apology out of Ando. And as a child, that grew up on his own around violence, the threat of violence was probably the most obvious answer to do so. And yet, he didn't actually want to shot. He's a child, he's scared. And because he's scared, he physically jolted when Ikari started shouting and pressed the trigger. It's all inhis eyes. He didn't expect the bullet to come out. He didn't want to do this.

Now. Well. Ando. We have a short insight in Andos mind. While Ikari is trying to attack Shin, before he jumps between them to save Shin.

He's thinking about spending 13 years to escape the JAA, all because he saved Shin as Al Kamaar as a baby, only for Shin to show up with a hitman and mess it all up. And it very much sounds like he still resents Shin for it. He even thinks that he shoul've let him die as a baby. (In the official manga plus translation. In another translation he evn thinks about killing Shin as a baby.) And well, he then saves Shin, only getting injured even more.

And this is all just contradicting itself. Andos words and thoughts and actions. He talks about saving Shin as a baby, but who put him in Al Kamaar in the first place? He saves him, but who tried to kill him a few minutes ago? Who let Shin be thrown overboard a few chapters ago? (And it's very likely that Ando did that in order for Shin to have a chance of survival, somehow.)

One moment he resents Shin, in the next his parental instincts seem to show through after all. (And has Ando figured out that Shin can read minds? He seems to be Intentionally thinking those words here. This could support the theory that Shins powers are actually born, andAsakuras potion just triggered them accidentally.)

All in all, I'm pretty sure that Ando might be mentally unstable. (I mean, who isn't in Sakamoto Days. And at one point Ando mentions being soft in the head, which is probably just a throw away line. But who knows.) His mind can't settle between an urge to protect and resent Shin. It was probably a moment of clarity, that made Ando drop Shin of at Asakuras lab. And even though they already didn't seam to have seen each other for a long time at that point, he seemed to know that Asakura would take care of Shin/protect him. Even when Asakura would complain about it. (He also talks about "What would Asakura think about this?" when Shin is pointing the gun at him. Which makes Shin angry. This seems to be directed at Shin, but it might as well be directed at himself. Because what would his old friend think about him trying to kill the child he left in hi ssafety all those years ago? Surely nothing good.)

Shin is rightfully upset about all of this, curling up in himself. Because Ando couldn't even say those words about Shin having grown so much out loud. Now. Taro reminds us though that there's still a bomb on the ship, that will explode the moment Ando dies. (Is it like linked to his heartbeat? What.) Telling Shin to keep him alive long enough for him to find and dissarm the bomb.

When Shin says he's going with him to help, because the engine bay is to big, Taro actually tells Shin to stay back and use the remaining time he got left with his dad. Which... well. In the end Taro seems to understand that Ando is still important to Shin in some way. It's an absolutely messy situation in so many ways. Also because, again, the only reason they meet was because it was Taros job to kill Ando. But he wants Shin to be able to at least say goodbye to Ando. (Something Taro couldn't when Rion died.) But Ando also knows that Taro probably won't be able to find the bomb, which would mean Shins death as well if the ship explodes. So, seemingly set on wanting Shin to live in the end he decides to tell Shin the bombs location. And to go with him, while he will hang on until he gets back.

Which he probably won't. I think he just doesn't want Shin to see the moment he dies. Not to forget that Taro would protect Shin if the bomb goes off after all. In the end, his parental instincts are trying to protect Shin. Both physically, and mentally. Even if it's way to late for that.

Well. I'm definitely crying. This is all a huge mess. Taro, please get your newly adopted son to therapy instead of teaching him how to be an assasin.

after finding out his shared feelings for you by your best friend, his sister, she playfully forced him to ask you out one day at their house.

usually you would come over to hang out with bree, since chase was always in his world of science, but you felt real clingy and decided to bother him. you got up from your place on the bed in one of davenports spare rooms, which you and bree would spend time together in.

“brb, going to the bathroom.” you fibbed not wanting to admit you were really going to check on your boyfriend. bree nodded, not removing her focus from her phone.

“hiiiii,” singing as you entered the metal doors of the lab.

he was sat on a stool, messing with some high-tech computer. not even turning to look at his girlfriend walk in.

“hi, y/n.” he said sternly still focused.

you pulled the stool next to him closer so you could be in his space. sitting down, you lean your head on his shoulder. “aren’t you hanging with bree today? i’m a little busy.”

“yea, but i missed you.” you wrap your arms around his shoulders squeezing him lovingly.

he blushed at your words thinking you wouldn’t notice but you did. you poked at his cheek and he finally turned to look at you. you smiled softly.

he looked to your lips and back to your eyes. you knew what he was aiming for. it had been occurred to you that he was definitely shy in the relationship. it was still pretty new, and he hadn’t had much experience. mostly hesitant when he touches you, or even flustered when you give him a quick smooch on the cheek. you never minded that though, often finding it adorable.

you remove an arm from around his shoulders and place a hand softly on his cheek, pulling him in for a kiss.

pulling back, you grin at his pink tinted skin.

“i thought you were busy?” you joked. still having your arms now around his neck. he smiled as he looked back to his device. “so can i hang here? pleaseeeee?” you plead as you embrace him closer.

“yes- i mean what about bree?” he discussed.

“i don’t even think she realizes i left..”
